Half-Life meets Portal in new physics-based puzzler you can try now

Half-Life and Portal. It's hard to think of another two games that so instantly and consistently spark peoples' enthusiasm - mention either of Valve's iconic series to basically anyone with a gaming PC, and chances are they'll loose a string of superlatives about how Gordon Freeman, GLaDOS, and the Companion Cube et al completely changed their idea of what games can be. Almost 20 years since the last full instalment, we're still waiting on Half-Life 3. Likewise, Portal 3 remains one of gaming's mythical beasts. We hear stories, but we've never seen anything solid. However, with Steam Next Fest now upon us, we've unearthed the next (no pun intended) best thing, a physics-driven puzzler with flashes of Aperture Science, Black Mesa, and some of the best parts of Half-Life and Portal combined. And you can try it now for free.

Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth release date

When is the Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth release date? As the third Like A Dragon game to be released in the past calendar year and the second in the main series to take on turn-based RPG mechanics, Infinite Wealth follows Ichiban Kasuga as he's sent to Hawaii to try and find his long-lost mother. Later, he's ambushed and left in the middle of a beach with nothing, not even the clothes on his back; it's up to him to find out why.

Thanks to the previous game in this long-running series, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is deeply rooted in RPG game mechanics, but from the gameplay trailers we've seen so far, it now has job mechanics for its core turn-based combat, and the selection of minigames are as bizarre as ever.      New Fallout 2 style isometric RPG is blowing up on Steam

Fallout and Fallout 2, although stone-cold classics of the isometric RPG genre, are, nowadays, a slightly dubious prospect. Before Obsidian and New Vegas, Bethesda and Fallout 4, Black Isle created one of the richest and most vivid PC games in history. By modern standards, however, those original Fallouts are a little obstructive and fussy. You want to experience their humor, their style, their wonderful mix of role playing and choice, but they can be difficult to grasp. On a related note, if you've just finished Starfield and you're eager for a new space-faring RPG game, or if you just miss the isometric classics like Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate, and Diablo, there's good news. Available to try thanks to a free demo, a new Fallout-style RPG is out of Steam Early Access, and it's already picked up rave reviews and industry awards.

There's no denying that the three big Warhammer games have been the star of the Total War show for the past several years, and so I had a few questions in mind right away as I approached this Total War: Pharaoh review. The hierarchy of mechanical gaming keyboards is stuffed full of elaborate feature-packed RGB monstrosities, but the Corsair K70 Core takes a step back and puts true usability above all else and does so to great effect.

Corsair is ensuring that even some of the best gaming keyboards can go back to basics and strip away a lot of niceties and features that the average gamer simply won't miss.      Terraria creator Andrew Spinks shares idea for a new game

Terraria freaks me out sometimes. On the surface, it's a colorful, serene, innocent-looking game with all the warmth and gentility of a peaceful Minecraft world. Green grass. Blue skies. Just you, the outdoors, and your imagination. But then you dig, and you find yourself fighting gigantic, hideous bosses with names like Wall of Flesh, Brain of Cthulhu, and the Lunatic Cultist. It's a deceptive, dual-natured world where the pastoral rapidly gives way to the nightmarish. After dozens of hours in Terraria, perhaps it would be nice to play something calmer. Sharing a short insight into his game-making ambitions, Terraria's creator Andrew 'Redigit' Spinks says he might one day like to work on precisely that - a chilled game in the style of Clicker Heroes, Cookie Clicker, and the other idle icons.

If you've been gunning for a CRPG in the classic Baldur's Gate or Fallout vein, and you don't have many leisure hours to spare, you might get a kick out of Space Wreck. Created by Latvia-based Pahris Entertainment, it launches out of Early Access today with a brace of Very Positive reviews, tantalising perma-hungover Disco Elysium players like me with flirtatious mention of "an intentionally short", very non-linear campaign in which combat is totally optional and there are "three to eight ways" to complete any quest. Sometimes, when I'm winning a Total War battle handily, I like to pick an absolutely haggard group of low-tier hopelesses and spend the rest of the fight zoomed in on them, narrativising their high-stakes struggles in a rich and velvety internal monologue that monopolises my attention so fully that I more or less ignore the rest of the battle. That these are among my absolute favourite Total War moments may say something about the level of satisfaction to be found elsewhere in the series' strategy sandboxes, at times as robust as ancient oaks, others as stale as ancient wotsits. It may be an admission on both our parts that, for all its simulated complexity, Total War is really for people who'd be just as happy playing with those little elasticated catapults and plastic castles, if we could still sit on the floor without our pelvises crumbling into soup mix.

Total War: Pharaoh, which I will acknowledge once and once only as being officially stylised PHARAOH, is almost certainly the most systemically interesting and quality-of-life-full a Total War game has been at launch for a very long time. Three Kingdoms has better diplomacy, Warhammer has unequivocally better goblins, but none are as refreshingly cavalier and passionately thorough with the blueprint of what Total War has the potential to be. CA Sofia should be immensely proud of what they've done here, but the realities of Total War's ridiculous release schedule now clearly mean that even a studio as willing and able to innovate so much in such a short time frame are effectively prevented from producing a genuinely exciting strategy game. I'd love to tell you these new plastic castles are more fun than your old ones, but there's not even any catapults.

Meta may have spent the last couple of years tumbling down a metaverse rabbit hole, but the company is still responsible for creating the best VR hardware around. The Meta Quest 2 was the ideal gaming VR package: powerful and accessible enough to provide easy, convincing immersion, while also staying highly affordable. Nonetheless, Meta's sudden fixation on creating a legless version of Second Life did have me worried about the future trajectory of its VR hardware. What daft gimmickry would their next headset come festooned with, and what would it mean for the future of the Quest as a gaming device?

With the Meta Quest 3, we have the answer. And the truth is, Meta's latest headset does have a whiff of Metaverse about it. Dubbed a "mixed reality" device, its raison d'être is to break down the barrier between reality and the virtual world. While mixed reality is an angle I'm not wholly sold on from a gaming perspective, crucially, the features that make it a mixed reality device are useful even if you don't want to hold a meeting in your office with a bunch of bisected Sims. Moreover, they're built into a headset that is more powerful, more comfortable, and generally better than the Meta Quest 2.

Hinako Shijo to appear in The King of Fighters KOF XV

SNK has published a new character teaser trailer for The King of Fighters XV. In the short clip, it's revealed that Hinako Shijo will make her appearance as a new playable character in KOF XV this Winter via a DLC update.

You can watch the full official teaser trailer below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah-Kfc6Wbbg

Hinako Shijo is not a brand-new character, as she made her playable debut in The King of Fighters 2000. She also appeared in KOF 2001 and 2003. Although Hinako was absent in the original release of KOF 2002, SNK added her in the Unlimited Match remake.

Ayako Kawasumi of Fate/stay night's Saber fame used to voice Hinako for her appearances in the 2000s-era games. KOF XV will instead have Akane Tamura as her new Japanese voice actress.

Hinako Shijo will also be the last fighter to join KOF XV via the 6-character Season 2 Fighter Pass. The pack also gives players access to Shingo Yabuki, Kim Kaphwan, Sylvie Paula Paula, Najd, and Duo Lon who are all already available as of this announcement. SNK also added Goenitz as a free update character that can be accessed by everyone, even if they do not purchase the pass.

The King of Fighters XV is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Hinako Shijo will be available as a DLC character in the Winter 2023 window, which runs between December 2023 and February 2024.

honkai star rail aetherium wars

HoYoVerse has shared more details on Aetherium Wars, which will be one of the new events in the Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.4 update. It looks to be very similar to the Boulder Town Fight Club event that was featured in the Version 1.0 patch of the game. After the event period, Aetherium Wars will move to Conventional Memoir. This means Trailblazers can play through the Aetherium levels even after it ends.

Aetherium Wars will be available as soon as Version 1.4 of Honkai: Star Rail launches on October 11, 2023. It will run until November 13, 2023. In lore, Aetherium Wars is a trading card game (TCG) that transforms an organism's data into "Aether Spirits" for players to train, upgrade, and fight with. To participate in Aetherium Wars, you'll need to first complete the "Jarilo-VI — Future Market (II)" Trailblaze Continuance.

Event rewards include Stellar Jades, Credits, Tracks of Destiny, and Self-Modeling Resin. You will also be able to obtain either Serval, Pela, Hook, or Luka for free. The event will even have a Challenge Mode called "Hyperlink Match," where you can challenge other playable characters.

Honkai: Star Rail is available on mobile devices and PC. The PS5 version of Honkai: Star Rail will come out on October 11, 2023, which is also when Version 1.4 and Aetherium Wars will launch.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 2

After the time skip between Boruto and Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Boruto is finally back in action! While the first half of the original series focused on a younger group of shinobi and Boruto coming up, part two has given the readers a not-insignificant time skip, and now they all appear to be young adults. The Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 3 release date is coming soon, so now is the best time to catch up!

With Chapter 1 giving us a look at how things have turned out in the world of Naruto, it seems like Boruto is still in a precarious position. On the run from almost all of his previous friends and allies, the protagonist has returned just as Code has attacked with his group of monsters. This time around, though, Boruto has a completely new vibe and feels a lot more powerful than the boy we remember in the final chapters of Boruto.

In Chapter 2, we see Code's ten-tails monsters attacking the villagers and other shinobi. While the battle rages on between them, Boruto tries to convince Code to call off his creatures so he doesn't have to die. We can definitely tell that being on the run all this time has changed Boruto in more ways than one! Not only does he seem more powerful, but he also seems willing to resort to more deadly violence than before. Whether or not he is capable of doing this, we'll have to read the next chapters to find out.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 3 will be available to read on both VIZ and MangaPlus for free on Friday, October 20th. There's still time to catch up, as the first two chapters are also available to read right now at no cost!

Unity John Ritticiello

John Riccitiello, who was the President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of Unity, will retire from the company effective immediately. James M. Whitehurst is the Interim Chief Executive Officer, President, and part of the Board of Directors. Roelof Botha, who was the Lead Independent Director of the Unity Board, is now the Chairman. [Thanks, Business Wire!]

The announcement only mentions the changes to Unity's leadership. It also includes some statements from Whitehurst about his new position, as well as his time at Unity under Riccitiello's leadership. He has not made any specific statements on Unity's future plans or business strategies. The PR release does not state why Riccitiello chose to retire. While there is the possibility that the timing is just a coincidence, the President retired very soon after Unity's recent controversial Runtime Fee plan.

In September 2023, Unity announced a Runtime Fee plan. This would charge developers a fee every time someone installs a game that was made using the engine. Unity planned on rolling out this plan in January 2024. However, game developers strongly opposed this change.

In late September 2023, Unity released an update on its Runtime Fee plan that removed the need for developers to pay if they make less than $1 million in 12-month revenue, as well as if they're using Unity Personal. Developers who have to pay the Runtime Fee can choose between two options: pay set on a percentage of revenue or pay based on new monthly users.

James M. Whitehurst is the new President and Interim Chief Executive Officer at Unity.

jingliu honkai star rail

A new trailer for Jingliu has been released on the official Honkai: Star Rail YouTube channel. The fierce swordsman is a new 5-star Ice Destruction character that will debut as a playable unit in Version 1.4, which will go live on October 11, 2023. You can watch the trailer in all four languages (English, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese) that the game is playable in.

Check out the full trailer for Jingliu titled "Swordward" here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMiYAEj46Rc

Like most previous trailers for Honkai: Star Rail characters, the announcement video mostly focuses on showing off how Jingliu will look in battle. There are also some tidbits of her story and lore. In both the trailer and the description, Jingliu states that she will "cleave the star from the sky" the next time she meets someone. This could be a reference to the Aeons or to Blade. We've gotten plenty of information on Jingliu's character and history already through Jing Yuan's animated trailer, Yanqing's Companion Mission, the Version 1.3 story, and Jingliu's animated trailer.

Jingilu's banner, "Gentle Eclipse of the Moon," will also feature Tingyun, Qingque, and Sampo as 4-star characters. Previously, HoYoVerse shared that Jingliu will work similarly to fellow Destruction character Blade, as she has a stance system and loses HP in battle. In Jingliu's case, she will consume health from her allies. She can also increase her ATK based on how much HP she takes from them.

Honkai: Star Rail is available on mobile devices and PC. The PS5 version will come out on October 11, 2023, which is also when Version 1.4 and Jingliu will debut.

Starfield Patch Notes Featured ImageWhile Starfield was released to a lot of expectations, it is safe to say that, contrary to some beliefs, it didn't launch completely broken with game-breaking or even hilarious glitches.      Pokemon Go How To Build An Op Team Meta Tier Best Picks DragonsJust like its predecessors, Pokémon GO is filled with a huge cast of lovable Pokémon that you can capture and train to increase their power. Most Pokémon to ever be released can be captured in the game, which means it is highly likely that your favorites are a part of Pokémon GO! One of the things that Niantic has been commended for the most is staying true to the older games, and a way they've done this is by keeping or tweaking the evolutions that some special Pokémon have. For example, Feebas won't just evolve straight to Milotic, like in the games, but instead you'll need to walk with Feebas as your Buddy for 20km first. Another way this has been done was by adding evolution stones into the game for specific Pokémon. In this guide we will cover how to get the Metal Coat, which is an evolution stone you can use for two different Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Where Can You Get Metal Coat?
