PCGamesN Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:35 AM Resident Evil 4 Remake has some of the finest over-the-shoulder shooting in all of videogames. The original RE4 set the standard, of course, but Capcom's 2023 horror hit made it louder, nastier, and more gratifying. You take the intense, back-to-the-wall action of Leon Kennedy's latest outing, and combine it with the isometric viewpoint and brutalist, pseudo-Soviet aesthetic of Disco Elysium. It sounds like they won't fit together - how can you have a third-person shooter if we're playing from that classic CRPG-type perspective. But you see, this is the trick. With an art style also reminiscent of Signalis, and dismemberment mechanics that would make Dead Space's Isaac Clarke jealous, Holstin, a new survival horror game available to try on Steam, has a lot of cool surprises. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:31 AM What are the Diablo 4 Abattoir of Zur rewards? This punishing Pinnacle Dungeon is the highlight of patch 1.2.3, offering high-level players a chance to test their mettle against the hardest challenges that the servants of Zir can throw at them. That said, the Diablo 4 Abattoir of Zir rewards aren't as substantial as you might assume. In many ways, the challenge is meant to be the reward in itself, as Blizzard continues to expand the Diablo 4 endgame for its most powerful players. The Diablo 4 Abattoir of Zir is effectively a time trial, which tasks you to clear the Diablo 4 dungeon in the space of ten minutes. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 6, 2023 8:09 AM What's the best Officer build in Rogue Trader? By far the least straightforward of the beginning four archetypes, Rogue Trader's Officer excels in supporting the rest of your adventure party as you traverse the horrors of the warp and battle waves of dangerous xenos. But why play as an Officer, you ask? Well, giving allies an extra turn can quickly turn the tide of battle, and the archetype's focus on the Fellowship characteristic means they're a great help dealing with all the dialogue you'll be sifting through. However, it is the only one that doesn't have a pre-made character to build off of – but don't worry, we got you covered, along with the best choices for an advanced archetype. If you do want to play as a more initially straightforward class in Rogue Trader, check out our Warrior build guide – great for smashing things and staying alive. Likewise, our Soldier guide shows you how to make the most out of ranged weaponry to decimate your foes; otherwise, the unconventional Operative guide might fit your style more. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 6, 2023 8:13 AM What's the best Soldier build in Rogue Trader? For those of you that like sniping, burning, exploding, or just generally blasting your way through your enemies, Rogue Trader's Soldier class was made with you in mind. With an impressive amount of weapons in the game – from powerful alien sniper rifles to flamethrowers – Soldiers have the most options available to them when it comes to equipment; furthermore, they're not half bad with a melee weapon or two if enemies get too personal. While a bit easier of an archetype to build, the Soldier nevertheless requires a bit of nuance to make the most out of as you explore the dangerous Koronus Expanse. If you're a fan of guns but not the Soldier's kit, check out our Operative archetype guide, which also works incredibly well with long ranged weaponry. Otherwise, our Officer guide details how to prepare the archetype for the use of guns. And if you want to forsake ranged weaponry all together in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader, our Warrior guide has you more than covered. If you're still keen on a Soldier, read on for the best build. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 6, 2023 8:06 AM What's the best Operative build in Rogue Trader? For those that like to exploit, debuff, and debilitate, there's no better option than Rogue Trader's Operative archetype. It may take a while to wrap your head around how exploits and weaknesses work as you explore the Koronus Expanse, but once you get a handle on it, having two or more Operatives on your team at any given time greatly increases your ability to take down difficult foes. Tied with the Officer for being the most nuanced archetype, this guide will help you ease the stress of what specific talents and features to choose upon leveling up. You'll need a few of them to make short work of warp demons and xenos threats. But maybe the Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader Operative isn't your style, and you'd like something a little bit more straightforward? Check out our guides for versatile but melee-focused Warrior or for the gun-obsessed Soldier archetypes. PCGamesN Wednesday, December 6, 2023 8:05 AM What's the best Warrior build in Rogue Trader? There's nothing more Warhammer-like than a chainsword-wielding maniac leaping into battle to slice up the Emperor's foes. Thankfully, Rogue Trader offers the Warrior as one of the game's four starting archetypes, and while it's a bit straightforward – and your first companion is a Warrior – there's more versatility to the class than any other. Warriors are fully capable of being melee powerhouses, defensive tanks, and have the flexibility to wield a powerful sidearm or secondary long ranged weapon to make sure they can always turn your enemies into a bloody mess. As a result, it can be quite daunting to make a Warrior in Rogue Trader's already complex character creator, but the build detailed here will ensure your versatile melee enthusiast survives the hordes of vile xenos. What if a Warrior doesn't fit your style? Check out our guides for the gun obsessed Soldier, the debuffing Operative, and the supportive Officer. If you want to wield two-handed greatswords in a sci-fi setting, any one of these classes can develop the use of melee weapons – you don't have to stick with the Warrior archetype. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:30 AM Rockstar has released a 90-second GTA 6 trailer! Wowee! No seriously, ignoring my cynicism for a second, it does look really impressive. As I mentioned in our RPS reacts piece, I'm genuinely excited by the prospect of a renewed Vice City and you bet I'll be there for the inevitable five-minute narrated trailer that begins with a person saying, "Welcome to Vice City". There's no doubt Vice City is going to be dense and chaotic, going by all the twerking and the social media parodies of real life Florida folks. But really, I do hope that Rockstar doesn't just reserve next-gen's horsepower for wildness. I want some peace, some quiet, some innocuous suburbs to laze around in. That would be nice. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:00 AM Ultros is one of those games you can't help but pay attention to. Back when it was first revealed in May at Sony's pre-notE3 PlayStation Showcase, its colourful, fever dream visuals from Hotline Miami artist El Huervo instantly made it stand out among all the drab multiplayer shooters jostling for attention. Then, between talk of it being set inside a cosmic uterus known as The Sarcophagus and having to use seeds and plants over successive runs to alter the shape of the map to your whim, it only became more intriguing. Now, after playing almost two hours of this Metroid-y roguelite for myself, there's still a lot about it to take in and digest, but holy moly what a thing to behold at the same time. This is surely going to be one to watch for Metroidvania likers when it comes out on February 13th next year, because cor, this is looking really quite good, folks. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, December 6, 2023 8:32 AM Prophecy's Tribes 3: Rivals broke cover earlier this month - or more accurately, came skiing out of cover with a flag in one fist and an electric crossbow in the other. The developers have now shared a bit about how it differs from Hi-Rez's Tribes Ascend, released way back in 2012, which we adored. Created by a former Hi-Rez subsidiary that includes several of the original Ascend leads, the new shooter retains its celebrated predecessor's emphasis on agility and momentum, but will be a premium game sold for $20 with separately sold cosmetics, rather than a free-to-play affair. It also won't have a singleplayer campaign, much to the probable consternation of Tribes: Vengeance fans, and the indifference of everybody else. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, December 6, 2023 8:22 AM In the grim darkness of the far future… I will finish my review of Owlcat's Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. It turns out that trying to complete an estimated 100-hour RPG during the run-up to The Game Awards is too much for this humble Scriptor. There are still many more tabletop-style planetary maps to discover and plunder, many more character levels to scale, and many more cursed artefacts to tamper with before my protagonist, the closet Chaos worshipper Bruschetta de Plonque, can pronounce herself mistress of the Kronos Expanse - assuming the Inquisition doesn't claim her first. But after 20 hours of the game, I can absolutely say that I'm looking forward to the next 80. While it doesn't have the cinematic swagger and raw anecdote-generating capacity of obvious rival Baldur's Gate 3, Rogue Trader has mystique and depth to spare, both in terms of its grotty narrative and its exceedingly busy combat and levelling systems. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, December 6, 2023 6:01 AM After my time spent with open world action adventure Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora, all I wanted was a jeep, maybe a jet to get around quicker. The jungles and the plains might be wonderful to look at, but they're too vast, filled with boring tasks, and overly reliant on level-gating to force a sense of progress. Sure, there's some spectacle in narrow escapes from the nasty humans - and their factories that make the plants droopy - but throughout the rebellion I ditched my bow for a shotgun with extended mags and a muzzle brake. For a game that's all, "the humans are bad", I was ready to defect. At least I would've been able to keep my shotgun. |

Square Enix announced that it will collaborate with Tsutaya (the pottery brand, not the rental stores) on maki-e plates to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV. The plates will be available to pre-order from December 12, 2023 until January 15, 2024.
Wajima-nuri is a type of Japanese lacquerware that differentiates itself from other lacquerware with the usage of multiple layers of urushi in the undercoat. Though the precise details of when this particular style of lacquerware came about, historians believe that the current version of it came about during the early Edo period. The reason why Square Enix and Tsutaya will work together to release wajima-nuri plates is to try and interest younger people in the ancient art.
There will be two wajima-nuri plates available for the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration. The first one focuses on Bahamut and the second references Meteion. The Bahamut plate costs 66,550 JPY ($451.75) and the Meteion plate costs 40,700 JPY ($276.30). Another Bahamut plate will be on display at the Final Fantasy XIV fan festival in 2024.
Though the original Final Fantasy XIV game came out in 2010, this 10th anniversary is actually referring to the current 2.0 version. The game was originally a critical and commercial failure. However, after Naoki Yoshida became the director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV, he revamped it and then relaunched it in 2013. It then went on to become one of Square Enix's most popular and profitable properties.
The Final Fantasy XIV 10th anniversary plates will come out after late March 2024. Final Fantasy XIV is readily available on the PS4, PS5, and Windows PC.

Lasengle uploaded a new trailer for Uesugi Kenshin, who will be a limited SSR Ruler in Fate/Grand Order. Other Servants on her banner are Berserkers Mori Nagayoshi and Nagakura Shinpachi.
Uesugi Kenshin is the SSR version of Nagao Kagetora, who was a free SR Lancer during the Gudaguda Final Honnoji 2019 event. For reference, Nagao Kagetora is the birth name of the famous Japanese war lord Uesugi Kenshin. Uesugi Kenshin's Noble Phantasm, Bitenhassou Shiranui, increases her Arts performance for one turn. It will then remove a single target's buffs, and then deal a powerful Arts attack. It will deal extra damage against enemies with the Man Attribute.
Like her Lancer counterpart, Nana Mizuki is the voice for Uesugi Kenshin. Mizuki is a singer and actress whose career started in 1997. Some of her more prominent roles include Fate from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Tamao in Shaman King, and Hinata in both Naruto and Boruto.
As for Uesugi Kenshin the actual person, he was a famous daimyo during the Sengoku period of Japan. He ruled over the Echigo province, which is around modern Niigata Prefecture. He had a rivalry with Takeda Shingen, who also appeared in Fate/Grand Order when the current Gudaguda Super Goryokaku event started in late November 2023. Due to his fame and exploits on the battlefield, he is a popular figure who has appeared in multiple video games and anime based on the Sengoku period.
Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices, with the Japanese server currently running the Uesugi Kenshin banner. The banner will end on December 19, 2023.

Several hours ahead of the Argenti banner in Honkai: Star Rail, HoYoVerse uploaded a trailer focusing on him and his skills. As a reminder, Argenti is a five-star Physical Erudition character who is a member of the Knights of Beauty.
You can watch the "Argenti: Whither Hath the Petals Gone?" trailer for Honkai: Star Rail here:
Pom-Pom is the one sitting across from Owlbert this time, since they had wanted Owlbert's help in looking for Argenti after he made a mess in the Astral Express. This is both a reference to his trailer and his Companion Mission, which will debut in the second half of Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.5. His Skill deals Physical damage to all enemies. His Burst does basically the same thing but with a higher percentage of his ATK. With his Talent, he can not only restore Energy, but he can also get a stack that'll increase her Crit Rate.
Despite his obsession with beauty and elaborate looks, Argenti's kit is incredibly straightforward. As such, he'll likely want Relics that'll help him increase his Crit DMG, ATK, Physical DMG, and SPD. Like Jingliu, due to his ability to increase his own Crit rate, players with Argenti will probably be able to focus more on his Crit DMG in his Relics.
Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Argenti will appear in the gacha of Honkai: Star Rail from December 6, 2023, with Silver Wolf re-running as well.

The action-adventure genre is one of the kinds of games best-suited for VR experiences, with the original Asgard's Wrath being an early Oculus staple. After going through part of Asgard's Wrath 2, it feels like Sanzaru may be building even further on the original while incorporating staples from console action-adventure and action-RPG staples.
Asgard's Wrath 2 begins shortly after the first game, but in such a way that it invites newcomers into the adventure. Loki, as the god often does throughout many forms of media, betrayed the player and sought power on his own. After breaking out of the tavern where they were trapped, the player character is attacked by what looks like a griffin with Egyptian ornaments and is picked up by the Weavers. (Think of the three as being like the Norns in Greek mythology.) After dubbing the player a Cosmic Guardian, they send you out to track down Loki again.
It's then that the story begins in earnest and I was able to really get an idea of what challenges Asgard's Wrath 2 would present. I watched as a tomb raider named Abraxas broke into the Temple of Atum, encountered the imposing goddess Sakhmet, and fell low. It's then that I was able to essentially possess him and step into his shoes, escaping the temple with him and starting the journey to find Loki together.
I suppose one of the things that first really impressed me about Asgard's Wrath 2 is its dynamic nature. A lot of this isn't all that much of a shock. The first game did a lot to really be active and immerse players, and we've seen games like Assassin's Creed Nexus VR feature a lot of exploration and movement. But even the initial looks at the Temple of Atum, before our escape alongside Abraxas, help establish a level of motion, exploration, and puzzle-solving along the lines of a Tomb Raider or God of War game.
Especially the moments when I'd step outside myself. I didn't expect to suddenly stop possessing Abraxas early on and then step into my more godly role to solve a puzzle. But this extra degree of inventiveness showed how Sanzaru is willing to incorporate different sorts of VR experiences and elements into what would otherwise feel like a more traditional action-RPG and adventure. The godscale moments felt like a chance to play around, and I felt it was almost like a fourth-wall-breaking moment when such chances would happen.
Likewise, the combat early on impressed me and left me feeling more like I was going through a Skyrim sort of affair than a typical, detached VR "experience" in the best sort of way. Your weapons are easily accessible either via pulling them from your waist or by heading into the menu. Since Abraxas was my host at the outset, I could wield a sword and a throwing axe. While tossing it around involved a bit of a learning curve with regards to aiming, the actual combat was just easy to get into in the first few hours. With the exception of an early boss-type encounter with set patterns, I could just dash up to standard enemies and start attacking or throwing the axe at them, not waiting for their reactions. If there were unholy, humanoid minions and wasp-like enemies around at the same time, I could dodge so the wasp's poison would hit the humanoid enemies and harm them. It really felt like I could experiment and play around within the confines of the "rules."
Also important is that Asgard's Wrath 2 almost immediately helps you find the comfort level that works for you in terms of accessibility and controls. It allows you to set up attacking, movement, and visual options to ensure you don't encounter any motion-sickness and it is easy to play for extended sessions. When going through more dynamic moments, perhaps involving a ladder or rope, you can touch certain items to immediately trigger the movement from different positions. There were also multiple points that "saved" my progress and where I was, in the event my Quest 3 battery failed me.
It really feels like Asgard's Wrath 2 could be the sort of game that gets referred to on the same level as other action-RPG adventures, rather than a VR adventure with setpiece moments that happens to have the same sort of approach as a God of War or Skyrim. It feels like Sanzaru could really be branching out and trying something with the game, and I'm curious to see how the rest of the adventure goes.
Asgard's Wrath 2 will come to the Meta Quest 2 and 3 on December 15, 2023.

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:43 AM LEGO Fortnite is certainly not a crossover people expected. Even with the trailer out, people are left confused about how the game will play. Here's all we know on the topic so far. LEGO Fortnite has nothing to do with the Battle Royale It may come as a surprise to some that Fortnite isn't purely a Battle Royale game. The original Fortnite game was about surviving waves of enemies whilst building defences during the day. It seems that with LEGO Fortnite, it'll be much closer in comparison to the original Fortnite than the popular Battle Royale. However, it is still exceedingly unique. LEGO Fortnite will allow multiplayer with up to 7 friends, and it is very keen on cultivating creativity and collaboration. As is typical of both LEGO and Fortnite, building will be available, although considering the creative push, lots more should be available to build than in previous Fortnite games. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:14 AM Going into Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, I'd only seen the first Avatar film, and that was back when it first came out. I wasn't really expecting some of the surprises that Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment would give us with Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, as my review in progress should explain. And yet there were, and continue to be as I finish the main story, plenty of issues I have with this open-world Avatar RPG. While it's incredibly gorgeous and has some pretty innovative features, the few downfalls and frustrations I have with it start to pull me away from the overall experience. Screenshot: PC Invasion The Na'vi experience What Avatar Frontiers of Pandora really sells is the idea of immersing yourself in James Cameron's world. While this does lack some RPG features like dialogue choices and an in-depth character customization, your character's voice and personality weaving through the story really help imme... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:14 AM Monopoly GO has released the longest milestone event so far, the Winter Wonderland event. Let's see how far you'll get with double the usual time. How does Winter Wonderland work in Monopoly GO? Winter Wonderland is a milestone event in Monopoly GO. In milestone events, it's your task to get as many points as you can. At certain point thresholds, or milestones, you'll be rewarded. The more you progress, the higher the rewards will be. To get points in Winter Wonderland, you'll need to go around the board and collect snowflake pickups. Like shields, you'll have to land on them, at which you'll earn 2 points. This is multiplied in accordance with your dice multiplier, so you'll want to roll high when a pickup is near. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, December 6, 2023 11:08 AM LEGO Fortnite is a PvE survival crafting game where you and your friends need to collect materials, build structures, and fight enemies. The big question on my mind going into it is how big is the squad and server size in LEGO Fortnite? How many party members are in a squad and server in LEGO Fortnite? In regular Fortnite, we know you can play solo, duos, trios, and squads which are one, two, three, and four party members respectively. We also know that regular Fortnite has up to 100 players in one lobby or server. While we don't know the exact party limit yet for LEGO Fortnite, we have some hints that lead us to believe it's bigger than expected. Related: All potential crossovers in LEGO Fortnite Usually, survival crafting games only have the capacity for up to four players per server (except Minecraft which is always the exception to the rule). LEGO Fortnite is similar to Minecraft in many ways, and one overlap they have is LEGO Fortn... |
