Fellow mischief-makers, a new toy of soft destruction awaits our consideration. It's called the SpyraThree, and it claims to be the world's most powerful water gun. Based on its specs, I'm inclined to believe it. With a "tactical display," three firing modes, and an auto-pressurizing reload feature, this thing looks…

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is faced with the gargantuan task of making a coherent plot out of characters and concepts that have mostly been blank slates over the series' lifetime.      Genshin Impact offers another exclusive glider in new Pizza Hut collab

The new Genshin Impact Pizza Hut collaboration offers several in-game items, including an exclusive new wind glider called Wings of the Starlit Feast. But, just like the KFC glider that came to the anime game before it, this new collab is currently only available for those who order Pizza Hut in China. The KFC Wings of Feasting glider did eventually become available globally, so that may be the case with this new collab as well - if we're lucky, it's only a matter of time.

     Is Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?

Is Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy? The Quidditch World Cup game released back in 2003 remains a fan favourite, so if the sport fits within the timeline of Hogwarts Legacy, its inclusion seems like a no-brainer.

We know that Hogwarts Legacy is based in the 1800s - long before the events of Harry Potter. Many well-known features remain though, such as Hogwarts Legacy Floo Flames and the Hogwarts Legacy common rooms, so where does this leave Quidditch? From Harry Potter lore, we know that the earlier incarnations of the game were recorded as far back as the 11th century, with other broomstick games dated even further back than that. So, while it would technically fit into the story of the RPG game, Warner Bros has confirmed that Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy right now.

     How long is Minecraft Legends?

How long is Minecraft Legends? The new action-strategy game from Mojang will be with us soon, and you'll be able to command your little army of Creepers, golems, and the like against the evil Piglins, who are, in true antagonist style, trying to take over the blocky world of Minecraft.

Even though you'll be controlling small squads of units from a top-down perspective, don't think of Minecraft Legends as an RTS game, but more of an action game. You'll control a single unit directly, and issue orders to your angular compatriots - it's a novel idea, and could end up being one of the best PC games this year if done well, but how long will it take you to beat Minecraft Legends?

The best MOBAs on PC 2023

If you're looking for the best MOBAs on PC, you'd be forgiven for thinking that all you had to choose from was League of Legends or Dota 2. They're both behemoths of the gaming landscape and have pretty much cornered the market on isometric team battlers but there are, however, a few up-and-comers that may stake a claim for the MOBA crown, as well as a few older entries that are still worth your time.

MOBAs have been around for many years - the genre was originally born from player-made custom games. The first MOBA was a Starcraft custom map called Aeon of Strife, which then inspired the incredibly popular Warcraft III custom game Defense of the Ancients. Modders from the original DotA went on to create Riot's League of Legends, and Valve's Dota 2, bringing MOBA gameplay to even wider audiences. So, if you're looking to take your first, wobbly steps into the MOBA genre, you may be wondering which MOBA will be the best fit - here's the lowdown on the biggest MOBAs around to give you a headstart, many of which are easily some of the best free PC games you can right now. You'll be defending the legends of the smiting storm in no time. Or something like that.

The 13 best clicker games and idle games on PC 2023

What are the best clicker games and idle games? There are some interesting connotations that come along with clicker games. Also known as 'incremental' or 'idle' games, the name betrays certain expectations: click your mouse, get a tiny reward, and repeat until you can make the process more efficient and lucrative like a lab rat pulling away at levers until it gets a tasty food pellet.

In most cases, there's a snowball effect that accompanies your progress that makes your clicks more productive, hence the "incremental" moniker. There are also many games that operate automatically even when you're not playing, which justifies the "idle" nickname. Clicker games manage to distil high-complexity concepts down into a series of single clicks and automation, and while they might not be among the best PC games for their depth or storylines, clicker games are certainly among the most calming and relaxing games around.

WoW Dragonflight tier list – best classes for PvE and PvP

Our WoW Dragonflight tier list focuses on the best overall performance provided by classes in both PvP and PvE, whether you're going solo or as part of a group. Every class in WoW has been subject to rebalancing over the course of the MMO's lifetime, though some classes have felt the effects more than others. Whether you're new to the game or a returning player, our tier list identifies which classes are dominating the WoW Dragonflight meta.

It's worth noting before we begin that this WoW Dragonflight tier list presupposes that your character is performing as it should with respect to their class and spec. The WoW Dragonflight talents system overhaul now offers more class customisation than the MMORPG has seen in recent years, but it also means that your mileage may vary depending upon the talents you've chosen. If you're running a suboptimal build for your class, you're liable to have a very different view of where your class falls on our tier list.

Look, I'm not saying Far Cry 3 is responsible for *gestures vaguely towards modern AAA games* but it's definitely a prime suspect. If I was trying to connect a piece of red string from the middle of my evidence board (which would probably be a picture of the map screen from Assassin's Creed Valhalla), I'm not sure I'd push a pin directly into Jason Brody's face, but I'd definitely circle it in black Sharpie a few times. Basically, in the eleven years since its release, I've grown a bit suspicious of Far Cry 3's lasting legacy.

And yet, in those halcyon days of 2012, we named it our game of the year. Although it'd be easy to simply say that decision was made a bit before my time here, I should probably admit that when reviewing the game for the blog I used to run when I was at university, I awarded it an equally prestigious (stop laughing at the back) 10/10. That almost seems ludicrous, doesn't it? Far Cry 3? Game of the year? Surely not.

After spending a few hours revisiting the sunny shores of Rook Island, I was shocked to discover a game that feels surprisingly pure. Mechanically, I hasten to add. The actual act of playing Far Cry 3 in 2023 is still good fun, it's the bits around it that are a bit ropey.

There's a moment in BioShock Infinite's opening act that's always stuck with me. As you emerge onto the floating city of Columbia, the game takes you on a guided tour of the sights and sounds of this airbone civilization. As you saunter through the streets, you learn about its citizens and its creator, just sort of taking it all in. The sun is shining. You're surrounded by smiles. Before you know it, an airship rises above the clouds and perches next to a hugging couple, gently swaying in the summer breeze. Aboard the ship is a barbershop quartet, cheerfully harmonising the iconic Beach Boys tune God Only Knows. It's a memorable scene, and has become an integral part of the game's lasting iconography.

But for Tyler, Nick, Derek and Greg, this section was more than just a fun tease for the secret behind Columbia's unusual success. Self-confessed music school kids, the quartet inspired them to create their own musical group styled after Infinite's singing hairdressers. In 2023, BioShop Infinite celebrated their ninth year at PAX East, where they performed a wonderful collection of harmonised tunes to an absolutely packed community room - and we were there to film it.

They're now back with Half-Life 2: VR Mod - Episode Two, coming to Steam later today.

It's weird that Road 96 has gotten a prequel, because it only came out about six months ag- what's that? A year and a half? Good lord. Still, it seems a slightly odd move, because Road 96 - a first person hitchhiking choose 'em up about the collective action of wayward teens bringing down a totalitarian government - doesn't really need a prequel. On top of that, Road 96: Mile 0 is a sequel to developer DigixArt's first game Lost In Harmony, a musical runner about skateboarder Kaito whose fiend Aya is dying of a terminal illness.

In Mile 0, Kaito and his family have moved to a small gated town called White Sands, in the 90s USA-adjacent dictatorship Petria, and made best friends with Zoe, who 96ers will remember as a recurring NPC from that game. Zoe is the daughter of an important minister and lives in the nice part of town; Kaito's parents are workers who are forced to live on the wrong side of the tracks. Through a combination of Road 96-style character-driven vignettes and Lost In Harmony-style rhythm action tracks, the two come to the conclusion they must leave White Sands. If you played Road 96 you kind of already know how Mile 0 has to end.

Ask RPS returns today with a question that takes us right back to the beginning of how we all got here. Not in the scientific, evolutionary sense of all of human history, I should add, but rather how we, the RPS Treehouse, ended up writing about video games for a living.

The question comes courtesy of Bloodyhell, who asked: When did you know that you not only wanted to play games, but to write about what you played? And, does writing about games ever dampen your enthusiasm when you are dealing with deadlines and putting words on a page?

A sneaky double-part question, there, but both good questions nonetheless. So come and find out our collective origin stories, and whether any of us have cried tears of pain and regret over the years after turning our favourite hobby into an actual job.

There's always been something quite comforting about loading into a brand new Minecraft world. Dropping into that first forest, punching that first tree... It's a promise of all the myriad adventures to come. And despite some fundamental changes in genre and perspective, it's something that the team behind the upcoming Minecraft Legends has tried hard to preserve.

I recently was treated to the most in-depth look so far at Minecraft Legends, in an hour-long livestream which gave us all some much needed answers on what manner of beast Legends actually is. It's a curious blend of action adventure and RTS, one that shares Minecraft's focus on exploration, but guides the player down a stricter, simpler path of summoning friendly mobs and constructing defences to repel a Piglin invasion. This will likely be a solid introduction to the RTS genre for a lot of players, but I came away unsure about whether the game will have enough depth to keep its prospective playerbase's attention.

One of the highlights was the cute deduction game Lil' Guardsman, a riff on Papers, Please where you work on a guard post, choosing to accept or refuse entry for fantasy folk wanting to get into the city. Or you can just jail them. It looks like lighthearted fun, and it'll be hitting PC and consoles later this year.

Jack Joyce has run out of time, or steam, both work! Remedy's time-bending Quantum Break - part superpowered shooter, part live-action TV show - has been delisted on Steam and The Microsoft Store. The game's Steam page is still up, but it's no longer available for purchase on PC or Xbox consoles. Publisher Microsoft had already confirmed the game would be "temporarily" removed from Game Pass (for console, it was never on the PC version) due to licensing issues, although there was no word on a removal from storefronts.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now on Steam, and its Season Pass includes a Warrior of Light equipment set.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now live on Steam, and the product page goes over the Warrior of Light equipment set people can get. This extra set of items comes with the Season Pass. When Jack wears it, they get additional perks. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

First, here's a closer look at Jack wearing the Warrior of Light equipment in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. It resembles the classic armor for the character. People also got a chance to see that in the first add-on for the game, Trials of the Dragon King.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is now on Steam, and its Season Pass includes a Warrior of Light equipment set.

However, you can't access this additional equipment for Jack right away. It is a post-game unlock. Once you beat the main game, you will get access to it. As noted on the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Steam page, the defining characteristic is the fact that it adds "400% knight job affinity."

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via both Epic Games Store and Steam. There's no word yet as to if there could be another game following it. However, Producer Tetsuya Nomura said, "If it proves that the title has really resonated with everyone, there may be a time when we meet again."

Good Fire Emblem Engage Enchanter Character Options Fell Xenologue

When it comes to the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue Enchanter class, you have a little more freedom when picking a character (or characters) to fill that role. Its Mystic Satchel class change item isn't as expensive as the Mage Cannoneer's. (It's 28,000G with a Silver Card and 40,000G without.) You also don't need to worry about character stats or growth rates when choosing someone to fill that role. From what I found, it's really about seeing who is on-hand that meets the artes and dagger requirements and you think would work best supporting allies, perhaps even over actually fighting.

Think of it this way. With your dancer Seadall, you ideally want him to always be dancing. Attacking? Him? No. Go dance with Alear or somebody strong so they can continue their path of destruction. With the Enchanter, you could have them attack, but ideally have them use Weapon Surge to boost the power of one kind of weapon for the whole battle, then Item Surge to make allies stronger.

Framme

Framme is in a weird position! You don't really want her to attack. She's basically your early healer. But then, you get a lot of other characters who can use staves as part of their classes and who might honestly work better as a healer for your group. So, I say make her an Enchanter. It makes her viable later in the game. She'll also already have the artes requirement met. You just need to get her up to speed with daggers, and she'll be good. I'd even say give her the Byleth Emblem Ring and make her an Enchanter and "Dancer."

Lindon

Lindon can be a really strong mage! But he's also sort of a "bonus" character you don't even have to recruit in the game. Not to mention by the time you recruit him, you probably have a lot of other great magic users casting spells. If you are looking for an excuse to use this character, giving him the Mystic Satchel and making him your Enchanter after the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue could work out.

fire emblem engage enchanter mage cannoneer character fell xenologue

Yunaka

Okay. Yunaka is great as a thief, and she fits well into a lot of other classes too. The Enchanter features high speed, which can suit her. Also, while you ideally want her attacking a lot, there can be some downtime for her. Especially since you want to protect her and maybe not put her in harm's way. So on turns when she can't get near an enemy to attack, she could be using Item Surge to make everyone else in the army better. You just need to make sure she meets that artes requirement, and you'll be set.

Koei Tecmo Holds Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Survey

Koei Tecmo is running a Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse survey. The European division is currently the only one advertising the survey. However, since the survey is being hosted on the Japanese site, it doesn't appear to have any restrictions on non-European players filling out the survey.

https://twitter.com/koeitecmoeurope/status/1643961755163578371

It's a standard survey, asking players where they found out about this latest Fatal Frame game. It then goes to ask players what their thoughts on it were and what they would like to see in future Koei Tecmo games. There are also questions about which Fatal Frame games you've played before and a few questions about language preference for localization. Koei Tecmo would also like to know which of the company's other games you have played.

The survey is anonymous, and Koei Tecmo will not be considering social media responses for the final feedback. It is unknown what this feedback will be used for yet.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse originally released for the Wii in 2008, exclusively in Japan. The recent remaster saw the game localized into English for the first time. It also updated the game for modern systems, with improved character models and controls. You can read more about it in our review.

The remaster of Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is available now for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC and Xbox.

Good Fire Emblem Engage Mage Cannoneer Character Options

The Mage Cannoneer from the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC is expensive, which means you'll want to be careful when picking a character to take on that role. Especially since, upon unlocking it, the game even stresses you need someone with high build, dexterity, and strength stats. While some people who meet those requirements may have unique classes, like Diamant, there are a few others who could work out well in the role.

So, here are some suggestions characters who might be good options for your Mage Cannoneer in Fire Emblem Engage. I mean, when a single Mage Cannon is 63,000G with a Silver Card and 90,000G without, and you only get one as a reward, you need to be cautious!

Anna

Okay, this is one I like just because it can be funny. Anna's build and strength are both low, which would hurt her hit rate as a Mage Cannoneer character once you get the class item after the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue campaign. However, her dexterity has the potential to be amazing, especially with her growth rate considered. If you give her Tiki's Emblem Bracelet, which adds 15% to growth rates, you could turn her into an amazing unit.

fire emblem engage mage cannoneer enchanter unlock

Boucheron

This could be fantastic for him! Boucheron suffers from being an early-game unit who could honestly be outclassed by later recruits. His starting STR and BLD are both high, which will help with his hit rate as a Mage Cannoneer. While his DEX starts out low, its is one of his best growth rates. This is a fantastic way to make him relevant, and his stats support him being good at the role!

Bunet

Bunet is in a very weird position! When he joins up, you probably already have cavalry who might be useful to you. He also doesn't stand out in the same way as other Solm retainers like Merrin or Pandreo. So… make him a Mage Cannoneer! He has high BLD, DEX, and STR to start out rather high, and he has good growth rates in all three areas. Boucheron beats him in BLD and DEX, but Bunet's odds at higher STR are better.

Mauvier

I like leaving Mauvier in his starting class, because he's fantastic as a Royal Knight. But if you want to make him into your Mage Cannoneer character in Fire Emblem Engage, it probably would work out for him! He starts out with high BLD, DEX, and STR, and his growth rates in all three are pretty great! Boucheron is better for DEX and STR, but still.

Splatoon 3 Eggstra Work

Nintendo announced when the first Eggstra Work event in Splatoon 3 will be taking place. Eggstra Work is a variant on the Salmon Run mode which utilises the new Pool system. It kicks off on April 15, 2023 and will carry on until April 17, 2023.

https://twitter.com/NintendoEurope/status/1643901714204852227

Eggstra Work will feature a set scenario in Salmon Run for players to team up with friends or other players in a Pool to collect as many Golden Eggs as possible. Previous details revealed by Nintendo confirmed that the event will take place over five waves instead of the usual three, allowing players to potentially gain more rewards.

This marks the third type of special event in Splatoon 3. Another variant on the Salmon Run mode, Big Run, last took place on March 4, 2023 on the Inkblot Art Academy stage.

The other big event usually seen in Splatoon 3 is the Splatfest. The latest Splatfest just happened on April 1, 2023. The event was a battle between believers in Nessie, Aliens and Bigfoot, with Nessie coming out on top.

Splatoon 3 is out now for Nintendo Switch. The first Eggstra Work event will take place on April 15, 2023.

Resident Evil Ambassador Program Registration Broken Due to Twitter

Capcom announced that it isn't possible to sign up for the Resident Evil Ambassador Program anymore. This is a social program that relies on Twitter to talk about the game or take part in questionnaires. However, because of the Twitter API issues, nobody can get started with it and existing members will experiencing issues.

As part of the changes with Twitter now that Elon Musk owns the social media network, free API access was removed. Capcom noted that the Twitter API used for this program is out following it. It noted that the company is unsure when things will be fixed.

Here's the full list of issues people will encounter as a result of the complications with Twitter:

  • New registration for the "Resident Evil Ambassador Program" is not available. (You can register CAPCOM ID and Resident Evil Portal, but the Twitter link for Ambassador registration is currently unavailable).

  • Registered users cannot reconnect their Twitter account to the Resident Evil Ambassador Program.

  • Registered users cannot change their Twitter icons to Resident Evil Portal icons. (Twitter icons that have already been set can still be used.)

With the Resident Evil Ambassador Program, people can earn points to get items and rank up. This can make it more likely that they'd get access to playtests or other special bonuses.

The most recent Resident Evil release is Resident Evil 4 remake for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Attack on Titan Levi and Mikasa Fortnite Appearance Teased

Back when Epic Games teased Attack on Titan for Fortnite, the company only showcased Eren Yeager. He appeared in both a teaser trailer and official one. Now another clip appeared that suggests Attack on Titan Levi Ackerman and Mikasa Ackerman skins will show up on April 11, 2023.

Here's the Attack on Titan video Epic Games shared on the Fortnite Twitter account. It seems to show both Levi and Mikasa using the familiar vertical maneuvering equipment. However, Levi is featured more prominently. There's a lot of movement and clear looks at both characters aren't offered, but the hairstyles and appearances make the identities fairly obvious. It also mentions players can "dedicate their hearts" on April 11, 2023.

With Eren, people won't need to wait for character skins to appear in the shop. People can earn his attire in-game. He's a part of the Battle Pass instead. All three characters wear the same sort of uniforms from their time in the Survey Corps. They also all seem to be based on their appearances earlier in the series.

Fortnite is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and mobile devices. The Attack on Titan Eren Yeager skin will be a part of the Battle Pass, and it seems Levi and Mikasa will arrive on April 11, 2023.

Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue Pacing Feels Off

Fire Emblem paid downloadable campaigns often aren't extensive. The Fire Emblem Awakening The Future Past series consisted of only three episodes. Fire Emblem: Three Houses' Cindered Shadows took place over seven chapters. Perhaps it shouldn't feel like Fire Emblem Engage's Fell Xenologue is so abrupt, but a number of factors leave it feeling like speed-running through a campaign to get the story over with and new characters added.

Editor's Note: There will be spoilers for the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue campaign and main storyline below.

Perhaps part of it has to do with its integration. Those who completed Fire Emblem Engage or acquired its DLC Emblem Bracelets before attempting it are aware of it taking place in a multiverse setting. It's established there are other worlds. One just so happens to be in the Somniel's Ancient Well. Investigating it abruptly finds Alear summoned to another, fallen world where Sombron and their Divine Dragon Alear both fell in battle at the same time. You quickly accept the mission to help the Fell Dragon children Nel and Nil reclaim the seven Emblem Bracelets so the corrupted warriors within can be put to sleep and granted peace.

While there is this connection between "our" Alear and the Alear that fell in that world, and we are in an alternate Elyos, it lacks the same sort of foundation and connections that Fire Emblem: Three Houses' Cindered Shadows or even Awakening's The Future Past possess. The story is quite different here, and the conversations before battles don't often provide enough context to identify with Nel and Nil. When we meet the Four Hounds of this world — here known as the Four Winds — we again don't get time to socialize with and meet them. The introductions to many of these chapters' scenarios are too perfunctory. They can rely on exaggerated or assumed characteristics to determine "new" character personalities, such as for Zelestia or Gregory.

Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue Pacing Feels Off
It also means seeing the alternate versions of the royals who act as our allies in the main game can feel like a let down even when conditions are optimal. If you take their counterparts into battle against them and ensure they fight each other, they'll comment on facing each other. It's fun enough. But in some cases, we get an "Oops, guess we were accidentally evil, but we'll be better now!" Granted, this does basically only happen twice, due to the brevity of the expansion, but it still weakens this add-ons' narrative and makes it feel like a missed opportunity.

This applies to the Fire Emblem Engage maps present in this expansion as well. There are some good ideas here! Corrupted Wolves with Cursed Fangs that permanently drop a character's max HP for the battle unless you heal that status effect! A map where Ivy and Timerra's forces are not only targeting you, but each other! Races to get to positions before outnumbered and unarmed characters are killed! It's exciting and they have potential. But the problem is that some of these ideas only come up briefly, then we never get to see them explored further.

Not to mention that, as interesting as these maps are, there are balancing issues here. The Normal difficulty level is too easy. Especially if someone is coming to the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue after already completing the main game. Late-game units, such as Mauvier, Timerra, Pandreo, or Veyle, can be comically overpowered in these situations, while ones that can be quite powerful in the main campaign with investment like Jean falter due to preset classes, levels, and equipment. Go into it on Maddening, and even the first chapter is practically unbearable.

Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue Pacing Feels Off
All of this culminates in an ending that feels rushed. The major plot points and "twists" lack foreshadowing or the weight to make them feel like they matter. Nel's admitting to assaulting the royals after the fight happens too abruptly to make it feel truly mysterious or threatening. Likewise, Nil's sudden heel-turn and reveal as Rafal falls flat. His behavior prior to all this felt too forces, just as some other dialogue did, in an attempt to more quickly convey emotions or tone while trying to speed through this short story.

It's a shame, because if things had been addressed a bit better, the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue campaign could have offered a lot more potential. The maps themselves involve some great ideas. They force you to think, so long as you're on the Hard difficulty or higher, and the concepts can be imaginative. There are some real threats here. But it feels like there isn't enough of them and like the preset units could have been handled a bit better. Surround that with a narrative that rushes you through everything happening, and it doesn't get enough time to come into its own.

Fire Emblem Engage is available for the Nintendo Switch, as is the Fell Xenologue DLC.
