The Xbox One may have paved the way for the Xbox Series X and S, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have some excellent Japanese role-playing games of its own to play. These are some of the best Xbox One JRPGs we recommend to all owners, depending on what you're looking for.
Best Xbox One Action-RPG JRPG: NieR Automata
While many will think of turn-based games when they consider JRPGs, there are action ones as well. NieR Automata (and its predecessor) have some of the best action hack-and-slash gameplay on the Xbox One. PlatinumGames did a stellar job blending together fast-paced boss battles with a gripping story.
Best Remastered JRPG on the Xbox One: Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age
Xbox One has plenty of remasters and remakes, but one of the best JRPGs in that category is Final Fantasy XII. This is one of my favorite games in the series and this remaster brings all of the content with solid graphical upgrades, plus neat quality-of-life features like speeding up gameplay.
Best Bang for Your Buck: Persona 5 Royal
If you want a game that will last you and certainly let you get your money's worth, it's hard to beat Persona 5 Royal. This is one of the best JRPGs on the entire platform, if not the actual best for many owners, and its main story will take most people at least 100 hours to beat. The Phantom Thieves give more than they take in this case.
Best JRPG-Inspired Indie Game on the Xbox One: Chained Echoes
This indie title may not be a JRPG but it certainly takes elements of games like Chrono Trigger and Xenosaga. It has a fantastic story with some solid characters and it takes quite a long time to go through. It was one of my favorite games in 2022 and it's pretty cheap compared to some of the bigger budget games here.
Best Xbox One JRPG for Turn-Based Fans: Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age
Those JRPG fans who want a pure turn-based experience should look no further. Dragon Quest XI is arguably the best in the ground-breaking series that pretty much kicked off the entire genre in the first place. It has gorgeous, colorful graphics and a jam-packed adventure with numerous memorable party members you can use in the simple but engaging combat.

Marion Crepes announced an upcoming collaboration with Honkai: Star Rail. For a limited time, you'll be able to order crepes that were designed with Ruan Mei and Dr Ratio in mind.
The Honkai: Star Rail crepes will be available from January 12 to 28, 2024. Some stores will also feature life-sized standees of Ruan Mei, Dr Ratio, or both. You can find the full list of locations via Marion Crepes's website. As for stores with standees, they'll be in some stores in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Kyoto.
The Ruan Mei crepe will have peach-flavored red bean jelly, yellow peach slices, chocolate sticks, strawberry sauce, sugar, and a monaka. As for the Dr Ratio one, it'll have blueberries, bananas, white cream cookies, pie crust, colorful sugar, blueberry sauce, and a monaka. Monaka is a traditional Japanese dessert that's two wafers with red bean paste in the middle. Both crepes will cost 950 JPY. You'll be able to get a random Honkai: Star Rail sticker with your purchase too.
Marion Crepes will also offer a set of six chocolate-filled marshmallows for 880 JPY per box. You'll be able to get ones that have Pom-Pom on it, or the various Rare Creations from the Critter Pick event. The Critter Pick event is still on-going and you can check out how to unlock all the Rare Creations here.
Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. The Honkai: Star Rail collaboration at Marion Crepes will run from January 12 to 28, 2024.

The first episode of the Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile voice drama is now available on the Square Enix official Japanese YouTube channel. The voice drama will be 12 episodes long, and the first episode is titled "Top Secret Special Mission."
Each episode will be released weekly on Fridays starting from January 5, 2024, and will be available for a limited time. The first episode is approximately 30 minutes and 14 seconds long, and it features various background illustrations, simple in-game backgrounds, as well as character portraits and visual novel style text boxes to aid while listening.
You can check out the first episode of the Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile voice drama below. The episode is available in Japanese only.
Square Enix announced in December 2023 that service for Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile will end on March 29, 2024. Since the original story created for the game wouldn't be able to be completed before the game finished service, the team announced that the story would be converted to a voice drama series. The game originally launched on August 4, 2022 for mobile devices.
Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile is available on Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan until March 29, 2024, when service will end.

From January 11, 2024 to February 12, 2024, Sanrio will open up a pop-up store featuring I Cinnamoroll. You'll be able to shop there in Tokyo's Hello Kitty Japan DiverCity Tokyo Plaza store and Osaka's Sanrio Gift Gate Namba Ebisubashi store.
The name of the story is "Nice Meeting You, I Cinnamoroll," which will help introduce fans to I Cinnamoroll. I Cinnamoroll is a newer brand that focuses on an alternate version of Cinnamoroll where he never met Anna and never became the face of Cafe Cinnamon. Much like Aggretsuko, I Cinnamoroll is an older character and he promotes self-love. He leads a very leisurely life where he does what makes himself happy instead of following trends or listening to people on social media.
There is a wide selection of goods that you can purchase from the I Cinnamoroll pop-up store. Here is a list of some examples:
While supplies last, you'll be able to get a sticker of I Cinnamoroll with every purchase. These stickers are fairly small, at 5 cm x 5 cm. They depict I Cinnamoroll going about his daily life.
