Diablo 4 finally has pets, and yes, you can pet them

Diablo 4 sees many upcoming changes with Season 3, including a good few long-awaited ones such as leaderboards and extra stash space. If you've been waiting for Blizzard to add pets to Diablo 4, that's exactly what these clinky-clanky little guys are, and they're way better than the series' third game's cosmetic pals.

We've seen this 8K 120Hz gaming monitor and life won't be the same

Forget your fancy OLEDs, LCD is still king based on this TCL IGZO miniLED display we just saw. This monitor might only be 27-inches in size but it packs in an astonishing 8K resolution along with a 5000 miniLED backlight. Combined they make for eye- and brain-boggling levels of image quality, that sadly most of us will never - or not for a long while - get the chance to see.

While realistically this display won't be a contender for our best gaming monitor guide, with a 120Hz refresh rate it would still deliver smooth enough gaming for anything outside of competitive FPS and racing sims. Combined with its amazing contrast, true blacks, and ludicrous 326ppi pixel density, our time viewing it at CES 2024 showed it would be the ultimate screen for immersing yourself in the stunning visuals of the latest AAA games.

Best Palworld weapons and where to find them

What are the best Palworld weapons? You've seen the trailers by now, so chances are you've seen the Grizzbolt firing a minigun or your character shooting critters with a pistol. The reality is that all of this is late-game stuff, and you'll begin with rather primitive gear.

So, to get the best Palworld weapons, you will need to get tons of Palworld technology points and unlock the new equipment. This involves raising the main character's level, and since you and your Pals will need to train hard, here are some tips on how to level up in Palworld fast and get the best weapons available.

Palworld resources, items, and where to find them

Where can you find Palworld resources? Like most open-world survival games, Palworld requires you to build, cook, and, um, put your adorable Pals to work on the assembly line. To craft guns, farm crops, and breed Pals, you're going to need to gather the most valuable natural resources.

Palworld Pals aren't the only thing you need to collect in this monster-collection game, as wood, ore, and food must be gathered from your surroundings, and turned into farms, factories, and forges. Palworld items vary from natural items like coal and wood; Pal drops, such as souls and venom glands; and ingredients, including berries and other fruits.      AMD nearing new record, but gamers might not like the news

What a whirlwind week it has been for AMD. Not only has it had to compete with the release of the Nvidia RTX 40-series Super cards and the competitive pricing, but it also revealed a brand new GPU and a new range of gaming CPUs. Now, AMD is set to break its 52-week stock value record, but it has nothing to do with gaming.

While AMD might be known for releasing some of the best graphics cards, alongside some of the best gaming CPUs, neither played a role in the recent spike in stock value. Instead, we have another situation like the one Nvidia found itself in last year, where this newfound momentum is all down to AI.

I think we're well into "milking the gimmick" territory for bodycam horror games now - last week's Digested may have been one giant snake too many - but Zoochosis does have the additional virtue of being heavily inspired by the cute doggy scene from The Thing. And also, perhaps, Five Nights At Freddy's.

It's been two whole graphics card generations since Nvidia last tried the whole Super-branded refresh thing, and from what I recall of that sweaty 2019 summer, most of the updated RTX 20 series cards were meek rejigs of GPUs that didn't really need replacing in the first place. Four months after the troubled launch of Payday 3, developers Starbreeze have announced they've formed a "strike team of veteran developers" with the goal of bringing it "up to where it will meet your expectations". The cooperative heist FPS got off to a right bumpy start when the ever-unpopular decision to only be playable if you're online collided with server issues that saw Starbreeze take the game down for a while. Your favourite beaver-based colony sim Timberborn's latest big update has arrived, and honestly, I'd say your poor beavers won't appreciate it one bit. The main reason being, it adds a new ecological hazard called Badwater, that doesn't only make your water bad, but your crops and beavers at risk of being bad. Still, there are plenty of new buildings to help you harness the power of the stanky water and errr, exercise halls for beavers to get their sweat on. I wouldn't recommend they rehydrate with the bad water, though.

As we all know, I like vampire stories, and I like different takes on vampire stories. Yesterday Edwin dangled an upcoming visual novel called Vampire Therapist in front of my nose. I am intrigued, also because I appreciate a Ronseal approach to titles. In Vampire Therapist, out on Steam this June 17th, you play Sam, a vampire who becomes a therapist to other vampires. So the title works twice!

These Kingdom Hearts Puzzles Are Made With Foil Printing

Puzzle making company Yanoman produced a new line of Kingdom Hearts puzzles that have been made with cold foil printing, giving the illustrations by series creator Tetsuya Nomura a metallic shine that makes the puzzle pieces more vibrant. The puzzles are available for purchase from Yanoman's website for 1,650 (~$11 USD).

Yanoman has created three different petite puzzles based on the iconic artwork from Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix+. Each petite puzzle is 16.5 x 21.5 cm in size and is comprised of 300 pieces. Yanoman describes the puzzle as being easy to put together, and that its small size makes it easy to display on a table top after it has been assembled.

[gallery columns="4" size="medium" link="file" ids="1007608,1007609,1007610,1007611,1007612,1007603,1007604,1007605,1007606,1007607,1007597,1007598,1007599,1007601,1007600,1007602"]

Yanoman has been around since 1954 as a miscellaneous goods exporter to the United States and Middle East, but shifted its operations in 1973 when they began to focus on importing puzzles during an era when the Mona Lisa painting was popular in Japan. The company decided to begin producing their own puzzles and toys after gaining a passion for them, and over the years the company has worked with major brands and franchises like Disney, Minions, Moomin, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cased Closed, and beyond.

Kingdom Hearts has received a number of new pieces of merchandise recently, including a brand new light-up Keyblade based on the Kingdom Key D, a line of clothing and apparel by Graniph, Jacquard bags and backpacks, and the long-awaited Sora Amiibo which releases on February 16, 2024.

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is currently in development for iOS and Android, and is set to release in 2024. The Android beta test is planned to begin sometime in January 2024. Kingdom Hearts 4 is also currently in development.

The three Yanoman puzzles are currently available for purchase.

My Time at Sandrock Devs Address Story, Loading Concerns

Pathea Games took to Steam to explain how the developer will handle My Time at Sandrock loading time and character story issues brought up by players. In each case, the team is working on updates to fix problems and add more content to the game.

In the case of the My Time at Sandrock loading times, Pathea noted that changes were already applied to consoles and PCs. The example offered on steam noted PC HDD loading times are now about 70 seconds long, as opposed to the previous 120 second loads. It also noted people who have been playing longer will see the most difference.

As for the My Time at Sandrock character story quests, the team announced more are on the way. It specifically cited more endgame ones tied to love interests that will be available after marriage. It also noted an upcoming update will have two Owen questlines.

The last part of the update had to do with lighting visual effects that affected the way some people and locations looked. It blamed the move from build-in pipeline to universal render pipeline during the porting process and is handling location issues one-by-one. As for the characters, it noted it will adjust facial shadows to create "fewer random shadows."

Since its launch in November 2023, a number of My Time at Sandrock updates appeared addressing concerns. Multiple patches appeared on consoles and PCs at the end of last year. The 1.2.0 update also added more post-marriage quests and weapons.

My Time at Sandrock is available now for the PS5, Switch, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Hololive Vtuber Kiara Takanashi Taking a Break for 'About 3 Weeks'

Hololive EN Myth Vtuber Kiara Takanashi took to social media to announce she'll be taking a break for "about three weeks." This is to allow her a break for health purposes due to feeling burnt out.

Kiara brought up that due to the nature of the job at Hololive, even when she's taken time off she's thought about work until now. She described this three week break as a chance to "detox." However, she also noted that while she will be pausing her activities, there will still be videos on her channel "almost every day."

Here's the full statement from Kiara Takanashi about her upcoming break.

Kikkeriki!

I've been working in Hololive for 3.5 years now and even on vacations I've never been able to go through a single day without doing some sort of work. This job has been on my mind 24.7.

Around the end of 2023 I also have been feeling very burnt out, but due to unavoidable work I felt pressured to not take a break.

The time has finally come for me to take a full detox break, where I intend to stay away from Discord, Twitter and YouTube fully for about 3 weeks from now.

As a content creator, it's a bit scary to take such a break, and also my work brain doesn't even know how to do it, but I hope to come back refreshed and prevent a mental breakdown for the future with this!

In the meantime, I hope you guys also take good care of yourselves and maybe treat yourself to some nice relaxation too.

I prepared a lot of little videos for almost every day of the 3 weeks, so make sure to still check your subscription box!

Thanks for your outgoing support. I'll be back before you know it!

Kiara is expected to return on or after February 8, 2024. People can find her past videos on YouTube.

New Unicorn Overlord Allies, Enemies, and Classes Detailed

Atlus and Vanillaware introduced new Unicorn Overlord allies and enemies, as well as a few of the classes available in the game. The latest details go over Elven characters from Elheim and Zenoiran empire agents we'll see as we explore the world.

The three new ally characters to appear are the twin sisters Eltolinde and Rosalinde, both voiced by Reina Ueda, and their former knight Ithilion, played by Tarusuke Shingaki. While Ithilion and Rosalinde are free and fighting back, Eltolinde is being held captive and is still fighting back while doing so.

Here's how all three of them look:

As for the two new Unicorn Overlord enemies, they are the mages Alcina and Baltro. Alcina is voiced by Mamiko Noto and used to be a sorceress affiliated with Cornia before switching sides to ally with Zenoira. Baltro is a wizard who is a mystery, and he's voiced by Hiroshi Naka.

Here are some art and screenshots showing both off:

While there are over 60 classes in Unicorn Overlord, only a few of them were announced so far. For example three types of archers appeared, known as the Arbalist, Featherbow, and Hunter. The Arbalist uses crossbows and is a back-line unit that is humanoid, while the Featherbows are flying units that can also inflict buffs and debuffs. Some of the physical attackers include  the Elven Fencer that can attack and use protective magic, the Gladiators that hit a row and can heal themselves, and the Housecarl attackers that use follow-up attacks. Three other attackers include Gryphon Knights, Werewolves, and flying Wyvern Knights. The two magic users revealed so far are the Clerics that heal and Shamans who debuff foes.

Atlus shared screenshots and art for these classes as well:

The latest announcement also confirmed characters can promote as they gain experience. The one example so far is the Lord becoming a High Lord. That's Alain's class, and he goes from an all-rounder who becomes a cavalry class unit. To level up, people can take part in battles, use Treatise items, or participate in optional Auxiliary Stages.

Unicorn Overlord will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X on March 8, 2024.

ffvii apex legends

In an interview with Famitsu, Respawn's David Duong and Square Enix's Yuma Watanabe gave some behind-the-scenes details about the current FFVII event in Apex Legends and talked about included items and things like Turks skins that didn't make it in. The event will last until January 31, 2024. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

In the interview, Duong noted that there are many people working on Apex who were huge fans of FFVII growing up, and so they decided to approach Square Enix for the collaboration. On Square Enix's side, the team members were also huge Apex Legends fans, so they were surprised and delighted at the suggestion. Duong also mentioned that FFVII Rebirth's aesthetic, characters, and vast library of skills were perfect fits for the Apex world, which is why they chose to use that game for the collaboration.

In the FFVII crossover event in Apex Legends, you can get skins that look like Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and other party members. However, Watanabe stated that in the original discussions, the skins would look like SOLDIERs, Shinra soldiers, and Turks instead. As a whole though, the Apex Legends team lead development on the collaboration event and very few staff from Square Enix were involved. This was to prevent any information about Rebirth from leaking out.

They mentioned lot of the work went into how the Buster Sword works. The teams spent a lot of time designing the sound, animations, and appearance to let players indulge in the fantasy of swinging it around. However, the Buster Sword in Apex Legends is shorter than the real thing. This is because the actual size would make it difficult for players to see, and the long reach would make it unsuitable for an FPS game.

FFVII Rebirth will come out for the PS5 on February 29, 2024. Apex Legends is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.

Palworld CostAs soon as I started playing Palworld, I thought, "Right… so, Pokemon and Ark Survival Evolved, huh?" More playtime allowed me to realize I was right, yet also made me realize that this is the combination I never thought I needed. Do note that as I am writing this review, Palworld is still in early development. I'm sure there will be even more to come. Palworld is bursting with things to do, yet is also coherent and concise It is rather difficult for me to organize my thoughts when writing this review, as half of my brain wants to rant on and on about how stupidly fun it is to have your own commune of "Pals" and how ridiculously engaging it is to have guns and brutal action thrown into the mix. The other half wants me to simply write "Yeah, Pokemon and guns — convinced yet?" and call it a day. My jumbled thoughts are much like the game itself: an amalgamation of ideas and concepts. Yet one thing...

Palworld How Big Is The Map SizeBefore you hop into Palworld, you may be wondering how big the map size really is. Any open world can be daunting if you don't know what you're getting into. You can find a plethora of unique Pals around every corner of the map, but how large is it? Let's discuss how big this open world is. How large is Palworld map size? Luckily, if you don't like games with gigantic maps, this may be for you. Pocketpair confirmed that Palworld is around 16 square kilometers, which is around six square miles, it's really not too large. Most open world games are quadruple that size, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is said to be around 84 square kilometers, which is 32.4 square miles. Many of you may believe that this map is procedurally generated, but it was proven to be a hand-made map.
