Justin Sevakis, a producer at Discotek Media, has put out a statement in regards to the company's English dub of Lovely Complex, or Love Com. This is in reference to disparaging statements that Brendan "JelloApocalypse" Blaber had made about the source material.
To summarize it, it states that English dubs of anime usually "punch up comedy and smooth over rough patches" under the original producer's supervision so that the end product provokes the intended response as the original work. Those who wish for a more accurate one-to-one translation of Japanese media should Discotek's subtitled collection. That being said, Discotek is disappointed with Blaber's "lack of professional discretion" and will no longer work with him in the future.
Blaber's "lack of professional discretion" comes from a post that he made on his blog, which you can only access via archives. Blaber explains that Sound Cadence obtained the rights to work on Lovely Complex's dub from Discotek, who did not want to dub it because it is an expensive process. As such, he and many other people who worked on the production were volunteers.
However, Blaber then went on to talk about how much he hates Lovely Complex. He states that since he is a freelance contractor and does not have an official relationship with any of the companies involved, he is speaking for himself. In his blog post, he talks about how much he hates the protagonist Risa, as well as lambasts inconsistencies in the narrative and characterization. He also states at the end that he and the other writers changed interactions between the main couple to improve their relationship.
Translators, localizers, and normal anime fans have responded with disappointment and irritation. Many of noted that this will set back the anti-localization discourse online. This discourse refers to an argument as to whether or not translators and localizers alter the original meaning of a work in order to better suit Western ideals or agendas.
You can purchase Discotek Media's Blu-Rays of Lovely Complex via RightStuf or Amazon.

Following a statement from Elira, Vox, and Ike in regards to Selen's termination from Nijisanji EN, Riku Tazumi, the CEO of Anycolor, made an announcement on the official Nijisanji EN YouTube account. The video is a little over six minutes long.
You can watch the video here:
The video starts with Tazumi bowing at the audience before he says that he wishes to speak about some misunderstandings, as well as address some concerns. He first apologizes about the IR report and the usage of the word "negligible," saying that it gave off the impression that Anycolor did not value Selen or the impact she had on the company. He also states that he will be rethinking how the company communicates in English going forth. Tazumi acknowledges that Selen's contributions were integral to Nijisanji EN's growth. He deeply regrets how things turned out.
Next, he addresses concerns about how Anycolor is not providing a work environment that's safe for the livers' mental health. He apologizes about how the company's livers are receiving a lot of distressing messages, and he hopes people understand that some may choose to take a break from social media as a response. Tazumi then addresses the concerns people have about Anycolor's lack of support for the EN branch. He acknowledges that there has been a lack of 3D live content in comparison to the main JP branch. However, Anycolor is recruiting more staff for EN, which will help to increase the number of new events and content. One of these events was a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament, though Anycolor canceled the event due to the recent controversies.
This controversy stems from Anycolor terminating liver Selen Tatsuki after the company made her cover of "Last Cup of Coffee" private in December 2023. Selen later Tweeted that she was in the hospital and Anycolor fired her earlier in February 2024, citing her breaches in contract.

Following the release of a video statement by Nijisanji's Vtubers Elira Pendora, Vox Akuma, and Ike Eveland about the Selen Tatsuki situation, Anycolor released a statement on social media that claimed it "has not made any confidentiality violations" when sharing information from Selen Tatsuki and her lawyer with its livers. It revealed it shared parts of the information as part of an internal investigation.
On February 12, 2024, a video was shared on Elira's YouTube channel with her, Vox, and Ike speaking about the situation. It noted the three of them had seen the documents provided by the person behind Selen Tatsuki and her lawyer to Nijisanji parent company Anycolor. In the latest announcement, Anycolor claimed "necessary parts of the information" was shared with its performers. It also claimed the Vtubers with the company "are not held to any confidentiality obligation regarding the information shared to them from Anycolor Inc."
Here is the full statement from social media:
Also, in the event the announcement is removed from X (formerly Twitter), here is a screenshot of the response.
Anycolor terminated its contract with Nijisanji's Selen Tatsuki on February 5, 2024. After that happened, multiple Vtubers with the company's English branch took breaks. The company stated it believed the dismissal wouldn't affect its bottom line. Since then, HYTE terminated its projects with the company. Also, the Good Smile Company WonHobby 38 English and Chinese websites didn't show any Nijisanji Vtuber figures, even though ones for the livers did show up on the Japanese website.

Vtubers Elira, Ike, and Vox, representing the Anycolor Nijisanji EN branch, put out a video providing more details on the recent controversy about Selen Tatsuki. The whole video is available on Elira's channel. Anycolor CEO Riku Tazumi has not issued a statement as of time of writing.
Here is the statement shared by Anycolor and its three performers:
To begin with, Elira stated that there are limits on what she and the company Anycolor can disclose, and the three Nijisanji Vtubers that appeared spoke based on their personal experiences. She also reminded viewers that Nijisanji EN does not condone any harassment towards anyone involved, and she volunteered her channel for the stream after discussing it with the other livers. Tazumi will also post a video about the matter.
You can watch the whole video on Elira's channel. The three stated that Selen was supposed to wait for management's approval before she could upload her video. This is standard protocol for the livers. However, she didn't do so and uploaded "Last Cup of Coffee" anyway, which prompted management to take it down. This is not the first time that Selen has had issues with management. The livers asked Selen why she reacted the way she did, and her lawyer later pointed to these interactions as part of the bullying accusation Selen had made. At the 4:40 mark, you can see snippets of Discord conversations between Selen and someone at management.
Selen had also recorded a voice call with Vox without his consent to use as proof that Anycolor shows favoritism for the Nijisanji EN group Luxiem. Vox said he felt like Selen betrayed his trust. He's hurt because he had trusted Selen so much he had planned on graduating in solidarity when Selen told him that Anycolor was going to terminate her.
Ike spoke the least of the three Nijisanji Vtubers, but also stated he felt hurt because he considered Selen a friend. So he was shocked to see the legal documents that Selen's lawyer sent to Anycolor. These legal documents had private information about the livers, as well as allegedly contained falsehoods.
The reception to this statement online has been extremely negative. Elira's chat accused the livers of reading off of a script, as well as demanding to know why the livers were putting out a statement before Anycolor CEO Tazumi did. Dokibird, Selen's previous persona, had to cut a stream short in response to this. She tweeted that those legal documents were only intended to be seen by Anycolor's legal team, her lawyer, and herself.
As a result of Selen's termination, Anycolor stocks' value has been dropping, though it's unclear how much damage it will do to the company in the long term. Anycolor had previously put out a statement stating that Selen's termination would have a "negligible" impact on the company's finances. This IR report, in turn, angered many fans and companies, including Hyte, which canceled a collaboration with Anycolor to stand in solidarity with VTuber fans.
Tazumi will make his statement on the situation in a few hours.
