Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome
Is the world out to get Apple? Only a few weeks ago the EU forced it to change its App Store policy to allow sideloading and ‘alternative app marketplaces’, among other things. Now the US Department of Justice is gunning for it too, filing a suit that accuses Apple of “violating federal antitrust law” in order to obtain a monopoly.

These are quite the claims, and if the DOJ won the case it could have a massive impact. Would RCS messaging arrive for real on iOS? Would Apple Watches work with Samsung Galaxy phones? Both are key parts of the DOJ’s case. Of course Apple maintains it’s done nothing wrong and calls the case “wrong on the facts and the law”. We’ll have to wait and see who comes out on top, but our Editor-at-Large Lance Ulanoff is already sure which side he’s coming down on – and you can read his thoughts in the top article linked below.

When you’ve done that, you should check out our guides to the best deals in Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, taking place right now on both sides of the Atlantic. You’ll find plenty of Apple products among the bargains we’ve picked out – and no government will be able to take them away from you.
