Usada Pekora's real mother "debuted" as the Vtuber Pekomama, also known as Pekora Mommy, on her daughter's channel. Both Pekora and her mother appeared on stream as an April Fool's joke, and the "debut" joke stream achieved over 180,000 concurrent viewers.
During her Vtuber debut stream, Pekomama was accompanied by Usada Pekora, who could be heard laughing bemused in the background and later joined her. Pekomama has three children, and Usada Pekora is the youngest of the three. She's a fan of the band X Japan and enjoys driving. After her presentation followed a Q&A section, during which Pekomama answered questions about Pekora as a child. Both Pekora and Pekomama later played the original Super Mario Bros. together.

Sega and RGG Studio will hold auditions to find actors and actresses for a new Like a Dragon game, though it will not be Yakuza 3 Kiwami. Everyone will be able to participate in this audition, which means you will not need to have previous experience or roles in acting. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
The upcoming audition for a new Like a Dragon game will be very similar to the one that Sega and RGG Studio held for The Man Who Erased His Name. For that one, they were looking for women to play the hostesses in the cabaret. Among the winners was VTuber Kson, who would also go on to appear in Infinite Wealth. Yokoyama, a producer for the series, has stated that this audition is not for Yakuza Kiwami 3. However, he states that he believes that Sega will eventually release that game.
If Yakuza Kiwami 3 comes out, then it will be an expanded remake of Yakuza 3 in the same vein as the previous Kiwami titles. Since Yakuza Kiwami 2 came out in 2017, Sega has been releasing either new titles continuing the mainline story (as with Yakuza: Like a Dragon and 8) or new games set in the same universe (Judgment). Time will tell what game Sega is holding this audition for, as well as when we'll get more news on Yakuza Kiwami 3.
More information on the auditions will come out later. The newest game in the Like a Dragon, or Yakuza series, is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which is available on the PS5, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.

Kadokawa announced that a new season of the comedy anime series Sgt Frog, also known as Keroro Gunso, is now in production. A new 30 second promotional trailer showed the popular characters in the updated art style for the new series, and the official website for the series is now open.
The announcement of a new season of Sgt Frog is part of the 20th anniversary project celebrating the release of the original anime, which premiered in Japan on April 2004. In addition, the announcement social media post was accompanied by a Japanese caption that reads "Today is the first day of Keroro in the Reiwa Era."
The teaser trailer is available only in Japanese, and it opens with Sergeant Keroro, leader of the Keroro Platoon, screaming "I return to Pekopon!" For context, Pekopon is the name that the frog alien species Keroro belongs to calls planet Earth. The teaser showed Keroro, Tamama, Giroro, Dororo, and Kururu, as well as a brief glimpse at siblings Fuyuki and Natsume Hinata, Momoka Nishizawa, Mutsumi Hojo, Koyuki Azumaya, and Angol Mois.

Despite the announcement of the Keroro Gunso anime series being made on April Fools' Day, the new anime season is real. The 20th anniversary project was originally announced back in March 23, 2024. In other Sgt. Frog news, anime boy versions of the Keroro Platoon appeared at Karaoke no Tetsujin locations in Japan back in September 2023.
A new Sgt Frog series is currently in production, with no release date announced. The original Sgt. Frog anime series is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

TO Books announced its CORONA EX service will offer English manga translations both done by publishing partners and AI via Google Translate. This is a paid subscription service that will cost $4.50 to use. [Thanks, MangaAlerts!]
To find out how the translation is done, someone would need to look at the series' pages. For example, the product listing for The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash specifically has the Seven Seas Entertainment logo and a message that reads, "All stories in this work is translated by our foreign partner publishers." Meanwhile, The Swordwoman With Curse is handled by Google Translate and AI. The product page for that one has a "translated by Google" image and a note that states, "All stories in this work is translated by Google Translate."
TO Books noted that the CORONA EX manga that uses Google Translate and AI for translations will experience two types of issues. The official facts page noted there will be errors. It also said that any bonus materials won't be translated. People will only get the base manga chapters when that is the translation method. In the case of official translations from companies like J-Novel Club, Seven Seas, or Tokyopop, the afterwards and extra content also won't appear outside of the normal volumes.
Here is a list all of the manga on the CORONA EX site as of 2pm ET on April 1, 2024. The source of the translation is listed for each one.
This has happened with manga releases. For example, Bushiroad announced at the end of 2023 that it would use Mantra Engine for AI translations of The Ancient Magus' Bride.

A new visual novel starring Hololive Indonesia's Vtuber Kureiji Ollie will be available on PCs. The game will be titled Days With Ollie, and it will appear on April 19, 2024.
Despite making the announcement on April 1, 2024, Ollie gave assurance that this announcement was 100% legit and not part of an April Fools' Day prank. The official X accounts for Hololive Indonesia and Hololive English have both corroborated the announcement by sharing the visual novel's Steam page. People can thus immediately add the title to their wishlists on the platform.
The trailer for the upcoming visual novel is also available to watch via Kureiji Ollie's tweet right below. It shows that Indonesian will be the visual novel's primary language. However, the Steam page and the trailer's credits confirm that it will also be available in English.
The release of this title will add another entry to the list of official visual novels themed after Hololive Production Vtubers. The Japanese Hololive Vtuber Minato Aqua has released Aquarium on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. Doppelganger, which features six Holostars English -Tempus- male Vtubers, is also available on PC.
Days With Ollie will be available on PCs via Steam on April 19, 2024.

Now that VShojo Vtuber Matara Kan is now doing a temporary summer podcast with Mint Fantome, the question came up as to whether or not Mint is affiliated with the company as well. During a preliminary stream discussing their new project, the two addressed the situation and noted that she is independent and not a part of VShojo at this time.
Here is the full statement from the initial stream between Matara Kan and Mint Fantome. First, Matara brought it up at the 40:08 mark and said, "I did see this question a lot. I am going to address it. Is Mint VShojo? No. She is not."
Mint Fantome then brought up how she is going to talk about her appearing with Matara and VShojo on April 4, 2024. She elaborated on it at the 40:26 mark and noted, "Basically, this is just us kind of having fun together. VShojo will be helping with some of the stuff, because Matara is [with] VShojo. But I'm just gonna be my little Minty self. I'm just me."
Matara Kan then offered an example of a situation in which VShojo might help Mint Fantome. At the 40:44 mark, Matara stated:
"So again, without spoiling too much, but for example, I am going to be attending [a] convention. So I asked them, 'Hey, can we maybe like also get her in?' And obviously I'm going to split stuff with her and things like that. She is on her own and the reason that VShojo is helping is because I'm a part of it. I also told all the girls in VShojo that for the next little bit I will be kind of prioritizing you and the podcast over them a bit. I'm sorry girls! They already know! They already know!"

Uniqlo announced its next collection of anime shirts involves the series Detective Conan, which is known outside of Japan as Case Closed. There are five shirts to choose from, with all of them being unisex t-shirts for $24.90.
All of the shirts are available in sizes XXS through XXXL. Gosho Aoyama drew all of the designs for them. Of the five designs, three feature small accents on the front of the shirt and the full design on the back. As the collection just launched, all of the designs are available at the time of writing. However, they will be sold both in retail stores and online, so if an item ends up being sold out it is possible it might still be at a local store.

We saw another array of anime shirts at Uniqlo recently. Naruto Shippudenshirts showed up there at the beginning of March 2024. There was also a new selection of shirts that involved various Sanrio mascots dressed up as Hello Kitty in honor of her 50th anniversary.

On March 31, 2024, VShojo Vtuber Matara Kan shared a teaser for an April 1, 2024 announcement. Now, it turns out Vtuber Mint Fantome is returning to do a Mint & Matara's Summer Special podcast starting at 12pm PT/3pm ET/7pm UTC every Monday.
First, here is that animated teaser video that Matara shared. It featured her summoning someone.
The official video for the upcoming podcast stream is already online. In the chat, there's an official announcement that reads, "This is not an April Fools'." There are no other videos on the new YouTube channel created for this endeavor. Matara and Mint noted that this will probably last for another 10 or so episodes and will likely be temporary.
Mint Fantome is an independent Vtuber who debuted back in July 2020, but then retired in April 2021. In addition to game streams, she also often sang and performed. For example, she did a joke cover of Neil Cicierega's "Bustin'." More seriously, here is her cover of the Re:Zero season 1 opening theme song "Redo."
Meanwhile, Matara Kan has been a Vtuber with VShojo since October 2023. She's an cockroach woman who often plays games or features chatting streams. She often takes parts in collabs with people both affiliated with the company or who are indepedent. For example, she took part in a March 2024 one with independent Vtuber Quinn Benet.
The Matara Kan and Mint Fantome podcast episodes will air at 12pm PT/3pm ET/7pm UTC every Monday for a limited time. There is also merchandise tied to the podcast series and Vtubers.

Sega announced Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to IHOP, with the restaurant offering meals based on characters and digital Stack Market rewards. The Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman meals, gift cards with the characters on them, and rewards tied to recent games will appear apparently until May 5, 2024.
First, there are six meals. Most of them are intended to be eaten at breakfast, though there are also some more general and dessert-like items. Sonic's Blue Blur Special involves blueberry pancakes, while Shadow's Chaos Chocolate Pancakes involves chocolate chip pancakes. Tails' 2x2x2 gives people two eggs, two pancakes, and either two pieces of bacon or sausage. Dr. Eggman's Benedict involves poached eggs with ham and hollandaise. Amy's Sweet Strawberry Delight is the dessert, as it involves taking a waffle and putting vanilla ice cream, strawberries, and chocolate on it. Finally, Knuckles' Chicken Sandwich is a basic chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon, cheese, lettuce, ranch, tomato, and onion rings on the side.

As for the digital rewards like Sonic the Hedgehog games and DLC, those can be accessed in the IHOP app. If you go to the rewards page, you can use the PanCoins you've earned from eating at the restaurant to acquire items. I checked the Stack Market app page and didn't see any items yet as of time of writing. However, Sega noted people will be able to get digital copies of Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Origins, and Sonic Syperstars, as well as a Sonic Superstars Amy Rose DLC costume. Normally, the Bank of Pancakes rewards involve free food.
IHOP also announced that it will have Pepsi Maple Syrup again, as well as offering a float version of it.
