Sand Land's vehicular combat is entertaining from start to finish, but bizarre progression pacing and the repetitive nature of the side content makes this a hard sell for those approaching the series for the first time.

Fallout 4's free next-gen update is finally here, and it's brought plenty of headaches with it. Patching in a 60fps mode for free on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is a nice reason to dive back into one of Bethesda's more controversial and arguably underappreciated post-apocalyptic RPGs, but some notable hang-ups…

Save $45 on this Samsung gaming SSD, if you're quick

Finding a great gaming SSD deal can be tricky, but this 1TB Samsung 990 Evo for almost half price represents great value. With its sequential read/write speeds of 5,000 and 4,200MB/s, it's plenty fast enough for most people's needs, and it's compatible with a wide range of motherboards too.

While the Samsung 980 Pro currently occupies our list of the best SSDs for gaming, its newly launched Evo counterpart is also capable, and now much cheaper, even if it doesn't quite reach the blazing-fast speeds that the Samsung Pro line promises. The 1TB Samsung 990 Evo can now be yours. For just $79.99, which is a massive $45 saving over its $124.99 MSRP.

The AMD Radeon RX 8900 XTX was going to be amazing, suggests leak

It has long been speculated that AMD has decided to cancel the development of a follow-up to the RX 7900 XTX, and instead put all its efforts into mid-range and lower cards. However, we're feeling a renewed sense of sadness at the scale of what we've reportedly missed, if this AMD Radeon RX 8900 XTX leak is to be believed.

While AMD graphics cards continue to struggle to make inroads in the race for PC gamers' cash, with the latest setback being MSI dropping AMD graphics cards from its roster, it's understandable why the company has decided not to fight for the top spot on the best graphics card lists of the world. However, based on these specs, its next gen flagship could have been a world beater.

     Best PC fans in 2024

Getting the best PC fans might be the last thing on your mind after sinking hundreds or even thousands into your setup, but don't underestimate how important it is to keep your gaming PC cool. If even a single component overheats, it throws the whole rig into disarray and can result in a janky frame rate or even a system-wide shutdown.

You can't just chuck any old blowers in your case, either, as even the best gaming PC falters without the right PC fans in all the correct places. It's difficult to go wrong with premium brands like Noctua, Be Quiet, Cooler Master, or Thermaltake, but you'll first need to check whether they'll fit in your PC case, you want the coolest or most silent system possible, and what kind of fans you need as airflow models are different from the static pressure fans you need for the best AIO cooler.

Once you're sure everything's compatible, you'll need to consider the amount of air your case takes in versus how much it exhausts. Ideally, you'll want either the same amount or more air coming into your case, but we'll run through everything you need to know throughout this guide. The best PC fans on our list can stop thermal throttling and help boost fps, so that you can play your favorite PC games without a hitch - you don't want to sleep on this.

Almost 13 years since it launched, Skyrim is still a marvel, but the overall combat experience hasn't aged too well.      This AMD GPU deal just keeps getting better

We're getting the feeling of deja vu as the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT is making headlines once again for another price drop, this time hitting a new all-time low of $379.99 in a GPU deal via Newegg. It may only be a $10 saving over its previous price drop, but it's sparking concerns about when will be the right time to buy, as no one wants to be left paying more than they could have.

We consider the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT to be the best graphics card on the market right now for less than $500, but that is largely due to the minimal price gap between it and the 7700 XT in question. This new price drop brings the ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT Challenger $50 below MSRP, creating a substantial $100 gap between it and the AMD RX 7800 XT, giving customers some real food for thought.

The best MMO and MMORPGs to play in 2024

What is the best MMORPG on PC? If you're wondering, those oft-used letters represent the words Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game and refer to games where thousands of players come together in the same world. Maybe it's all of them.

Ultimately, the deciding factor for the best MMORPGs on PC largely comes down to personal preference, so with that in mind, here's our list of the top MMOs currently alive and kicking.      Best games like Minecraft 2024

What are the best games like Minecraft? Way back in 2010, a little game called Minecraft proved to be a revelation in video games, inspiring a whole generation of players and developers in the process. It's a blocky sandbox world that essentially lets us create anything we like and share it with our friends. The cultural phenomenon sold millions of copies, even before Microsoft acquired developer Mojang Studios in 2014.

Since its initial release, there have been a plethora of Minecraft clones. Each does their best to match one of the best PC games of all time, but few have really delivered the whole package like Minecraft does. Sometimes, though, you may only want part of the Minecraft experience, augmented with other aspects that make the Minecraft-like unique. That's where this guide to the best games like Minecraft comes in. All the games on this list are similar to Minecraft in some fashion, be they crafting games, building games, adventure games, or an altogether different part of what makes Minecraft our favorite blocky game.

Distinguishing one metroidvania from another is a dicey challenge, and not just because there's a 37.8% chance that saying the word "metroidvania" will cause RPS regular Sin Vega to materialise in the mirror and assassinate you with cheesewire. Metroidvanias stand apart for me only in hindsight - it's all about the precise ratio of abilities to ability gates, of jump-doublers to overhangs, all things that take time to assess properly. Echo Weaver sets itself apart early, however, by declaring that "time is your currency" and that "when faced with eternity, knowledge is the only gear you need", a phrase that, admittedly, I would probably have extended to "...oh, and a spacetime-folding glaive that works like a throwable fast travel point".

This will be the studio's next original game, after they wrapped up Layers Of Fear last year with, confusingly, Layers Of Fear (the natural progression for a series: Layers Of Fear, Layers Of Fear 2, and then Layers Of Fear again, although it was going to be called Layers Of Fears at one point).

Bloober Team are currently doing a lot of IP work for other people, with the Silent Hill 2 remake due out later this year, and a game codenamed "Project R" in concert with Skybound Entertainment. Skybound are The Walking Dead company, so I wouldn't give you long odds for a bet on what Project R is about. Neither would I be surprised if Project C is unveiled this summer by a man named Geoff with shiny shiny trainers. I'm interested to see what it is, and honestly I'm hoping it's a brand new standalone thing, rather than a forced sequel to Observer or 2021's The Medium (where I got the header).

Amazon have SHOCKED and RATTLED the world of buying things off the Internet, by announcing that Prime Day 2024 – their latest of their Prime-members-only sales events, which usually take place in July – is taking place in July. And yes, we're only hearing about this a mere month after the last big Amazon discount splurge, Spring Deal Days. My life is a calendar where every square has "deals" written on it in increasingly scratchy Biro.

Still, let's keep it summery, eh? Prime Day 2024 may not be a surprise (and is still lacking a specific launch date), but unless the US government announces a second June-based Black Friday or something, it likely represents the next mass serving of PC gaming deals for you to take advantage of. SSDs, graphics cards, or anything else that's been unusually pricey lately are all but guaranteed to get slashed back down, so there are definitely worse times to be in the market for an upgrade than Prime Day.

The Escape From Tarkov developers' efforts to escape from a DLC paywall quagmire of their own quagmiring continue with an update and apology from Battlestate chief operational officer Nikita Buyanov, who says he "did not foresee" the adverse reaction to selling a new PvE mode as part of a new special edition, after telling purchasers of a previous edition they'd get "all subsequent DLC" for free.

Hell, it turns out, isn't always a bubbly pool of magma where like, devils prod you with forks. There is a second hell in Helldivers 2, a hell made up of wartorn planets and soldiers who fight bile-spewing bugs and robots. And it is a hell that is subject to patches. One such update has nerfed a bunch of weapons including the popular quasar cannon. It's also increased the number of enemy patrols based on player numbers and tweaked the game's level generation, with the former making life more difficult in hell, and the latter possibly making things more interesting.

Button mashing is advised against in fighting games if you want to climb the ranks. But those of us who've been destroyed by unpredictable little brothers going ham on a joystick know a secret. Sometimes spamming works. One Tekken 8 player is proving this point. They have programmed a bot of Eddy Gordo, the whirling Capoeira fighter, to slap the same button repeatedly, and nothing else, while broadcasting its performance against real players on Twitch. The bot is doing surprisingly well.

"Given the opportunity, players will become a merciless egg baron and sit chuckling on a throne of shells while medieval Europe cowers beneath their imperious yolk," is what I assume Soren Jonson once said, and it looks like Manor Lords is proving this timeless adage right once more. Despite shifting over a million units and hitting the highest concurrent player count of any 'city builder' on Steam, creator Greg 'Slavic Magic' Styczeń is already looking to the future of how the building game handles trade.

See the Hatsune Miku Symphony 2023 Nendoroid figure

Good Smile Company shared a new Hatsune Miku figure update, this time looking at the Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku Symphony 2023 Nendoroid. It showed up as a painted prototype online on social media.

This item's design is based on official art from the 2023 Hatsune Miku Symphony performance. That was in honor of Megurine Luka's 15th anniversary. In the key visual, she wore a white hat, white dress with black accents, and was holding the skirt of it with her right hand. Likewise, the Nendoroid prototype features her in the exact same pose.

Here is the official prototype photo shared by Good Smile Company with us, as well as the original key art from the Hatsune Miku Symphony 2023.

While it will likely be a while before pre-orders for this Hatsune Miku Nendoroid appears and it gets a launch date, Good Smile Company did just start selling a new Pop Up Parade figure of the Vocaloid. A Translucent Color version of her, which features her twin tail pigtails gradually becoming see-through, is now available to order for $31.99/¥4,800. That is expected to launch in September 2024 in Japan and Q1 2025 worldwide. The company is also selling 2024 versions of race car models with her image on them.

The Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku Symphony 2023 Nendoroid is in development, and there's no release window for the figure yet.

Granblue Fantasy Relink Uma Musume Emotes

Cygames announced a set of new emotes will come to Granblue Fantasy: Relink as part of a crossover with its Uma Musume series. The emotes are expected to arrive alongside Version 1.3.0 sometime in late May 2024.

The three emotes allow characters to perform variations on the dance choreography from the song "Umapyoi Densetsu," including actions miming having horse horse ears and running. The song is one of the main themes from the Uma Musume franchise, which is also owned by Cygames, and it appeared in one of the franchise's earliest trailers back in 2016. The main Uma Musume: Pretty Derby mobile game is not currently available globally, but did get a Chinese release back in 2023.

You can get a look at the Granblue Fantasy: Relink "Umapyoi Densetsu" emotes via the official announcement tweet below.

Back in February, 2024, sales of Granblue Fantasy: Relink passed 1 million just 11 days after release. The game also recently received an update that added two new characters: Seofon and Tweyen of the Immortals.

The Uma Musume emotes are set to come to Granblue Fantasy: Relink alongside the arrival of Version 1.3.0 sometime in late May 2024. The game itself is readily available on the PS4, PS5, and PC. Uma Musume: Pretty Derby is available on PC and mobile devices, but only in Japan and China.

Watch 2 Genshin Impact Arlecchino Cutscenes

HoYoVerse often releases Genshin Impact cutscenes online after major events for us to watch, and the latest ones feature Arlecchino related events from the 4.6 missions. Both of these latest ones are tied to the new The Knave Weekly Boss people can fight after completing .

Editor's Note: The latest Genshin Impact Arlecchino cutscenes feature spoilers for the 4.6 Fontaine storyline.

To start, both of these videos appear in-game if you've managed to get through "Masquerade of the Guilty" and the first chapter of Arlecchino's character quest. This basically means you need to be completely caught up in the Fontaine Archon Quests and have spent a key to unlock the first part of her story.

The first of the two trailers is "Cinder of Two Worlds' Flames." This happens at the start of the Knave Weekly Boss. It also properly introduces things. This offers initial spoilers for the fight, showing the Fatui member ahead of a confrontation with the Traveler.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ulocKe61mg&ab_channel=GenshinImpact

The second of the two Genshin Impact cutscenes is taken from when this fight is at its climax. In addition to the Traveler, it prominently features Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBfO93ROWRo&ab_channel=GenshinImpact

People still have time to get Arlecchino in Genshin Impact. Her banner appeared alongside the start of the 4.6 update. She and Lyney are both going to be around until May 14, 2024. After that, Baizhu and Wanderer will return.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices.

Guilty Gear Strive Slayer

Arc System Works revealed the trailer for Slayer, the thirteenth additional DLC character coming to Guilty Gear Strive. He is set to arrive in the game on May 30, 2024 and will be the final character to launch in Season 3.

The trailer features Slayer, who is voiced by JB Blanc, unleashing some of the attacks in his moveset on some hapless opponents. One of these moves includes a punch performed so fast his clothes are left behind. In another, he drinks the blood of his opponent to gain a more youthful form, losing his moustache in the process.

Slayer will be available for purchase on his own, or we can get him as part of Season Pass 3 along with Johnny, Elphelt Valentine, A.B.A, two stages, and several extra color palettes. A note at the end of the trailer remarked that while Season 3 is now complete, more content is on the way with the advent of Season 4.

You can get a look at the Guilty Gear Strive trailer for Slayer on Youtube:

The previous DLC character added to Guilty Gear Strive was A.B.A., who arrived back in late March, 2024. Meanwhile, VRChat gained avatar costumes based on Guilty Gear characters Elphelt and Happy Chaos earlier this month.

Guilty Gear Strive is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with Slayer set to become available on May 30, 2024.

As part of the Evo Japan 2024 announcements, Bandai Namco revealed the Tekken 8 Season 1 roadmap and Lidia Sobieska DLC. She will appear in Summer 2024.

Tekken 8 marks the second time Lidia appeared as DLC for theseries, as she debuted in Tekken 7 as an add-on. In that game, she was the Polish Prime Minister. It is unknown if she retains that role for this newest entry, as she only appeared briefly in the Season 1 trailer for the game

Here's the Season 1 trailer. Lidia shows up at the 2:10 mark, and she's followed by the updated DLC roadmap for Tekken 8.

Akuma Street Fighter 6 DLC Release Date Set

Capcom announced the Street Fighter 6 Akuma DLC release date during Evo Japan 2024. The returning character will join the roster on May 22, 2024, and there's a longer look at how he'll play ahead of launch.

Akuma made his Street Fighter debut back in Super Street Fighter II Turbo. He was a hidden fighter, and you had to enter a cheat on the character select screen to gain access to him. His first proper appearance was in Street Fighter Alpha, however. He's known for his skill with Satsui no Hadou and battles with Ryu.

Here is the latest Akuma gameplay trailer. The footage begins with the question, "Where will this path of strife take him?" We then see the custom player avatar for Street Fighter 6 face Akuma. After that, we get to see proper gameplay footage of Akuma and Ryu fighting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_DSF87l8C8&ab_channel=StreetFighter

Ed was the last DLC character to appear for Street Fighter 6. Not long after he did, a Monster Hunter crossover event appeared in April 2024.

Street Fighter 6 is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC, and the Akuma DLC release date is May 22, 2024. The next character to appear will be Rashid in Summer 2024.

There Are Still No Eiyuden Chronicle DLC Release Windows

The prospect of playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes excited me. Suikoden 2 still sticks out as one of the most formative JRPGs experiences from when I discovered my love for the genre. After spending dozens of hours with Eiyuden Chronicle, my main takeaway is how it proves nostalgia for Suikoden doesn't excuse dated gameplay.

Eiyuden Chronicle came from the late and great Yoshitaka Murayama, creator of the Suikoden series, and other developers tied to that Konami line of JRPGs. The spirit of that beloved, long lost Konami series is felt all throughout this game. There are the obvious parts, like the over 108 available heroes to recruit. But this also shows in the highly political storyline, turn-based battles with six characters, tactical war mode, and minigames. The way the game gates off elements and content is handled near identically to the Suikoden series.

Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes Gameplay
Screenshot by Siliconera

However, while the execution and gameplay can be a welcome return to form, other elements should have stayed in the past. The Eiyuden Chronicle gameplay focuses so much on sticking to what Suikoden did that it avoids some necessary modern improvements. For one, it took me nearly 20 hours to unlock fast travel in the game, which is ridiculous. This is because in the original Suikoden games, that feature was tied to a specific ally, and it remains that way in Eiyuden Chronicle. Even if fast travel remained limited, it should've opened up as an option in at least half that time.

Perhaps one of the oddest parts about the fast travel fiasco is there is a story moment where they make fun of this. The party has to trek back to a certain village early on through the same forest we just conquered a few moments before. One party member jokes they wish they were as a way to just skip over all of that since we already did it. While funny, this moment highlights the pitfalls of one of the major design philosophy issues of this game.

To continue with the fast travel problems, it doesn't stop once you unlock it. While it is welcome to be able to zip from town to town instantly, it has restrictions. For one, you can use fast travel indoors like in an inn or the home base castle. However, you can't use it while in dungeon-like areas. The logic doesn't always make much sense or feels consistent.

How to Recruit Isha in Eiyuden Chronicle
Screenshot by Siliconera

Other areas where these rose-tinted glasses come into is with the lack of quality-of-life features. Why in 2024 can I not change the rune-lenses, which are tied to the series' magic and special skills, for my party members anywhere on the go? There are ways to alleviate this with the help of certain recruits, but even that has its limitations. It's an antiquated notion in Eiyuden Chronicle tied to the way Suikoden handled its runes.

Worse still, you can only save in certain locations. (Try not to die too often!) This is especially unfortunate when it comes to the lengthy dungeons, which can take a couple of hours to complete. Unfortunately, it isn't because they are challenging or mind-bending, either. They are just padded out with way too much filler, backtracking, and bland puzzles.

Then there are entire systems I still don't fully grasp the point of, such as the attendants. You can carry around up to three attendants in your party at once. Usually, these are limited to required story characters like Nowa or Lian. I get this is to ensure you have major players at certain plot points when needed, but why not allow all battle party members to be able to become attendants? That way, you could switch between your favorites in your reserves anytime you need to on the field and grind XP for multiple characters at once.

eiyuden chronicle suikoden
Screenshot by Siliconera

All of these elements and the general structure of the story, help to paint this picture of a JRPG too stuck in the past. I enjoyed my time with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, but its gameplay feels so dated. It didn't have to be this way, either! With a few key changes and improvements, Eiyuden Chronicles could have felt like an improved take on the Suikoden formula. Here's hoping the team fixes these issues as they head into the already teased sequel.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is available right now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
