One Piece: Heroines Novel Getting an English Translation

Viz Media announced on social media that it picked up One Piece: Heroines, the novel with short stories based on different characters from the series, and will release it in English. It currently has a Spring 2025 release window.

The One Piece: Heroines series is a unique situation in which Jun Esaka's stories about characters from the series all star the women who are associated with the Straw Hat Pirates. They're pulled from One Piece magazine, though every entry also has a piece exclusive to each book as well. So the first book goes over a number of episodes starring Nami, Perona, Robin, and Vivi.

Here's the official reveal, which includes the Japanese cover art. That first volume appeared in Japan in June 2021.

https://twitter.com/VIZMedia/status/1796577637277544693

As of right now, Viz Media seems to have only confirmed it will release the first volume in this series in English. In Japan, a second installment appeared in March 2024. As noted by the cover of the second book, Uta stars in one of its stories.

One Piece: Heroines will release outside Japan in Spring 2025. Viz Media handles the One Piece manga releases outside of Japan. The anime is on Crunchyroll. The live-action series and upcoming anime remake are on Netflix.

metaphor refantazio demo

Metaphor: ReFantazio will have three different modes in its playable demo at Atlus Fes, with each mode having a different difficulty rank. You'll only have about fifteen minutes to play when it's your turn, so choose wisely.

Atlus Fes will run on June 8 and 9, 2024. You don't have to pay for a ticket, so you can just walk in and check it out. However, there will probably be a line-up at the Metaphor: ReFantazio demo booth, so there's no guarantee everyone will be able to play it. You can check out Atlus Fes in Bellesalle Akihabara.

The three different modes are Scenario Mode, Dungeon Mode, and Boss Challenge Mode. Atlus recommends Dungeon Mode for players. Scenario Mode lets you play the first little bit of the story and learn the basic controls. You will also be able to experience your Archetype awakening scene.

Dungeon Mode lets you play through a dungeon from the early hours of the game. Your goal is to complete a subquest while using your Archetype-wielding companions in turn-based combat. Finally, Boss Challenge Mode pits you against a boss from the middle section of the game. You'll also be able to operate a mount that can move around on the ocean.

Metaphor: ReFantazio will come out on October 11, 2024, for the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

gundam figure lacus clyne

Megahouse announced an upcoming figure of Lacus Clyne in a pilot suit, which is based off her appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom. The figure is still in production, but more information on it will appear later.

This Lacus Clyne figure is part of the Gundam Girls Generation series. Other characters from this series include Lalah from the original Gundam, Emma from Zeta, Suletta from The Witch From Mercury, and Lunamaria from Seed Destiny. They're figures that range between 1/10 and 1/6 scale and, as the name suggests, they feature female characters from the Gundam series. Some GGG figures are male though, such as one of Master Asia from G and Quattro from Zeta. While most of the direct replies to the figure are very happy, some have questioned when Megahouse plans on releasing a Cagalli figure.

In Gundam Seed, Lacus is a major character and the heroine of the show. Though she first appeared as Athrun's love interest, she later became Kira's girlfriend. She was also a major character in Gundam Seed Destiny, as well as the deuteragonist of the movie Seed Freedom. While in the show, Lacus was only a captain of the Eternal, she helped to pilot the Proud Defender and Mighty Strike Freedom in the movie.

The Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom pilot suit Lacus Clyne figure is in production.

Capcom to promote Street Fighter 6 demos on Steam Deck in Japan

Capcom has announced that it will set up demo booths in its select amusement centers across Japan that let the public try out Street Fighter 6 on the Steam Deck. The company also noted that the booths will only be available for a limited time. But while the booths will appear on June 1, 2024, Capcom did not specify the closing date.

Here are the six outlets that will offer public Steam Deck demo booths, along with their opening and closing times:

  1. Capcom Store Osaka at Shinsaibashi Parco (10am to 8pm JST)
  2. Plaza Capcom Ikebukuro at Grandscape Ikebukuro (10am to 11pm JST)
  3. Plaza Capcom Shitoro at Aeon Mall Hamamatsu Shitoro in Shizuoka Prefecture (10am to 9pm JST)
  4. Plaza Capcom Hiroshima at The Outlets Hiroshima (10am to 10pm JST)
  5. Amuse Factory Tokoname at Aeon Mall Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture (10am to 9pm JST)
  6. Miraino Aeon Mall Hakusan in Ishikawa Prefecture (10am to 9pm JST)

Capcom's Steam Deck demo booths will also contribute to raising awareness of Steam as a gaming platform in Japan. As a reminder, the Steam Deck has been formally available for purchase in Japan and other East Asian countries and territories since late 2022.

Other Japanese game companies have also been reconsidering the releases of their titles on the platform. For instance, Bandai Namco just made the Steam versions of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Xenoverse 2, and FighterZ purchasable in Japan in late May 2024, even though those games have been long available elsewhere worldwide.

Street Fighter 6 is readily available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and arcades. The PC version that has come out on Steam is also playable on the Steam Deck.

final fantasy gaming mouse pad

Square Enix opened up pre-orders again for gaming mouse pads of various Final Fantasy games. They all cost 3,300 JPY ($21.05) and will come out in Japan on August 24, 2024, but won't show up outside that country until later in 2024.

In total, there are six variations. They're also available on the North American Square Enix store, and they cost $34.99 there. While the ones from the Japan store will come out on August 24, 2024, the ones from the North American one will ship out some time in November 2024. You can get gaming mouse pads of Final Fantasy VI, VII Rebirth, Crisis Core VII Reunion, VII Ever Crisis, IX, and X. The North American store also offers mouse pads from other Final Fantasy titles, such as II and IV.

These gaming mouse pads originally came out in January 2023. They're very similar to desk mats, which can help to decorate your desk or work space. They also serve as a way to dampen the sound of your keyboard, if you're a keyboard enthusiast. Each mouse pad is 40 cm x 80 cm x 0.30 cm, and they weigh about 1.23 pounds.

All of these gaming mouse pads use key visuals from their respective games. For example, the Final Fantasy X mouse pad depicts Tidus and Yuna's kiss in Macalania Woods. The one for Rebirth uses the visual of Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth standing together. This also serves as the cover art for the game.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the newest mainline entry to the series, is readily available on the PS5.

First FFVII Ever Crisis Monster Hunter Banner Gives Cloud and Zack Armor

Square Enix and Applibot announced the first FFVII Ever Crisis Monster Hunter banner is live in-game alongside the event, with Cloud and Zack being the first characters featured. We can get Glavenus and Zinogre equipment from them, if RNG is on our sides, until July 2, 2024.

In the case of Cloud, people can get the Monster Hunter Glavenus Sword and Armor in FFVII Ever Crisis. The sword features the Fierce Charged Slash C. Ability that deals non-elemental physical dmaage to one enemy, reduces their physical defense, and increases Cloud's physical attack if his HP is over 50%. The armor boosts his PATK and has the Physical Ability Mastery that increases his physical ability power when his command gauge is maxed out.

As for Zack, his Monster Hunter FFVII Ever Crisis equipment items are the Zinogre Sword and Armor. The sword has the Lightning Edge C. Ability. That deals lightning physical damage and multiplies that when Zack's health is over 70%. His armor boosts lightning damage with Levinblade Arcanum and has the Boost Phys. Ability Pot. ability that increases damage when the command gauge is maxed out.

Here are the official images for both the weapons and the armor:

FFVII Ever Crisis is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the Cloud and Zack Monster Hunter banner will appear until July 2, 2024. Square Enix also noted these items will only ever be in this banner, but reruns could happen.

kaitai fantasy sanrio mascots header

Megahouse will release a new KAITAI Fantasy set of Sanrio characters, this time featuring Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Kuromi, and My Melody. The Pop Mint Mix series of KAITAI Fantasy figures will come out on May 31, 2024 and will cost 1089 JPY ($6.95) each. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The KAITAI Fantasy set of toys from Megahouse show what's inside of a mascot and lets people check out the characters' skeletons. For example, we can see that the eye socket for Cinnamoroll is star-shaped in his skull, and there's another star-shaped hole in his pelvic bone. There's also some sort of swirl on the bone connecting his ear to his head, making it look like a cartoon wing.

Here are all of the new Pop Mint Mix Sanrio KAITAI Fantasy figures:

As a note, Megahouse released some of these mascots in the past. However, the colors of the skeletons are different in the Pop Mint Mix series.

All four of these Sanrio mascots are very popular, often appearing in collaborations or in the top 10 of popularity polls. Cinnamoroll has topped the popularity poll several years in a row. Meanwhile, Pompompurin was the star in his own set of hotel rooms in Hakata.

The KAITAI Fantasy Sanrio characters Pop Mint Mix series of merchandise will come out on May 31, 2024 in Japan.

HoYoVerse shared a calendar for June 2024 that you can use for your phone or other devices that stars Himeko and Pom-Pom.

HoYoVerse shared a June 2024 calendar wallpaper for Honkai: Star Rail, and for this month the calendar stars Himeko and Pom-Pom. It is designed to work with mobile devices.

Here's the latest Himeko and Pom-Pom calendar for Honkai: Star Rail for June 2024.

https://twitter.com/pom_starrail/status/1796379388977836128

You can download the Honkai: Star Rail June 2024 calenadr from the Pom-Pom Twitter (X) account. Its size makes it easy to use on devices like your phone. In the picture, we can see Himeko and Pom-Pom admiring some hydrangeas. Pom-Pom even has a magnifying glass that they're using to observe the flowers. There's also a rainbow in the background, looking like it just finished raining. Like how people tend to admire sakura blossoms during hanami season (usually April), June is the time of hydrangeas. There are quite a few tourist sites that focus on introducing the best locations and gardens to check out these colorful flowers.

When HoYoVerse releases calendars for Genshin Impact, they usually choose who the featured character is based on who has a birthday in that month. For example, Wanderer and Thoma appeared on the January calendar, and they both have birthdays in January. Zhongli and Ganyu, who have December birthdays, starred in the December one. However, the Honkai: Star Rail characters do not have birthdays and the calendar doesn't seem to use their debut date either. Himeko was in the game since launch, which was in late April 2023.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

Review: Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer Has a Packed Schedule

When you think about it, The Quintessential Quintuplets is a perfect anime and manga to dating sim game adaptation situation. We have a number of heroines. For much of the series, there's the question of which Nakano sister Futaro will end up with at the end. The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer gives players a chance to get closer to the sisters, with tutoring playing a part, in the hopes of getting a chance to date one of them.

For those completely unfamiliar with The Quintessential Quintuplets, Futaro Uesugi is hired to tutor his classmates, the quintuplet sisters Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. As a reward for the efforts, the young women invite him and his kid sister Raiha to their family's private island. It's supposed to be a short jaunt, but a storm leaves them stranded there for two weeks. However, while it's a potentially harrowing experience, it also gives Futaro a chance to grow closer to the sisters and perhaps even find love with one of them.

The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer is an unusual dating sim! It's basically divided into two parts. In the first half, you need to keep meticulous schedules. You must raise the five sisters' stats to ensure they can pass a test at the end on various subjects, while also occasionally sending people to gather supplies so there's always something to eat. For the first half, you need to ensure each of the girls can pass a test with a 60 in each subject. If you do, then you can move on to routes with each sister, a family-route with Raiha, and an "all route" with all the siblings. The second half is a more traditional dating sim visual novel game, which feels like a reward for The Quintessential Quintuplets and is a much less demanding experience.

I did feel that the balancing might be a bit off in The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer. Basically, if you let someone's mood drop too low, they'll need to recuperate for a time slot. Okay, fine. I've played Princess Maker and Idolmaster style games before. I figured that meant losing some morale and some time. No, here that also means a severe stat drop across the board. It happened to me once early on with Miku and Yotsuba, as both were about to dip below 20 mood. Instead of getting some grace period, they immediately took off to relax and came back with some of their 15-17 stats dropped down to 0. It's a harsh lesson to learn!

It almost feels like it is a lesson you have to learn. Once I did, I found I got into a much better groove as I worked my way toward the second half of the game. The stat requirements aren't too demanding for a route. In fact, given the way in which affection builds up, it's very easy to have multiple characters at the necessary relationship level to end up with Futaro. I was able to find a much better balance as I arranged the Nakano sisters' schedule to ensure they would get a passing score and do well, all while surviving on the island.

Plus, the story and relationship portions of The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer are can be quite fun. The "trapped on a deserted island" plotline gives Mages an excuse to focus only on Futaro, Raiha, Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki. The studying and gathering elements also provide opportunities for Futaro to spend time with just one of the sisters, furthering a relationship with them. The CGs are well-executed, and it's a good amount of fanservice handled well for a series with established, beloved characters. There are some awkward formatting elements though, as sometimes the font in text boxes won't stay consistent and will shrink to fix everything into them, and every once in a while something might read a bit awkwardly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1as86PgxBo&ab_channel=SpikeChunsoft%2CInc.

The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer really sets itself apart with its unique premise that is part tutoring and life management sim, then part visual novel dating sim. It's true to the series, given there is still that element of helping tutor the sisters. Plus, you absolutely are earning your happy ending here. I enjoyed it, because it's an approach we don't often see paired with likable characters and a fun premise, but the approach may make it an acquired taste. Just be sure you really pay attention to the sisters' stats and make smart choices.

The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. The anime is available on Crunchyroll. Kodansha handles the manga.

Little Nightmares 3 Delayed Until 2025

Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco announced that Little Nightmares 3 is delayed. Instead of appearing in 2024 as planned, it will now launch in 2025.

Supermassive Games released a statement going into why Little Nightmares 3 is delayed alongside the announcement. It essentially noted the goal is to ensure the overall quality of the experience. As such, to ensure it meets expectations, its release window is being pushed out of this year. As a reminder, there was no exact quarter set for the game initially, so we don't know exactly how long this delay will be.

Here's the official announcement made on social media:

https://twitter.com/LittleNights/status/1796512039768097038

Little Nightmares 3 first appeared at gamescom Opening Night Live 2023. There are few details about characters and the story just yet. However, it will be a multiplayer experience.

This installment marks the first time Supermassive has been completely responsible for a game in the Little Nightmares series. Tarsier Studios created the first and second installments. Supermassive only became involved when the Enhanced Edition of Little Nightmares 2 was made for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Little Nightmares 3 is delayed until 2025. People will be able to find it on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC when it does debut.

The manga is by Kazuyoshi Seto. The mangaka is only responsible for it and one other work so far, Namenna yo! Nameneko Matakichi Saikyou Densetsu. Neither appeared in English until now.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Manga Volume 1 Arrives in 2025

Viz Media announced the release window for volume 1 of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga volume on social media. It will appear in English in Spring 2025.

Here's the official announcement for this new entry. It also shows how the cover for volume 1 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will look. It is pulling from the same cover design and art as the first chapter of this part of the series' storyline.

https://twitter.com/VIZMedia/status/1796576127307133050

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex first started running worldwide back in August 2023. Both Viz Media and MangaPlus offer the first three chapters and three most recent ones in English for us to read. As the first volume already launched in Japan in February 2024, we know it consists of chapters 1-4 of this second part of the story.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Two Blue Vortex involves a time-skip in the Boruto series, just like Shippuden did with Naruto. This latest part involves Boruto no longer being part of the Leaf Village, and attempts on all sides to deal with the Otsutsuki threat.

Volume 1 of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga will appear in English in Spring 2025. Past Boruto and Naruto volumes are available via Viz Media. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

nijisanji knives out

NetEase announced that Knives Out will feature another Nijisanji collaboration that will start on May 31, 2024, then end on June 13, 2024. You'll be able to get collaboration items based on Kuzuha, Sasaki Saku, and Tsukino Mito.

This is the third collaboration between Knives Out and Nijisanji. During this event, the gacha for the first two collaborations will re-run. Aside from collaboration items, you'll be able to get different skins, weapons, parachutes, objects, and cars based on the three VTubers. The designs for the cars take motifs and aesthetics from the different livers. Kuzuha's is red and black to reflect his vampiric heritage, while Sasaki's is pink and cute with lots of pandas. Mito's is bright and flamboyant.

During the collaboration event, you can join the fan club of your favorite VTuber from the three. By completing certain missions, you can win limited items for your fan club. Depending on your rank in the fan club, you can also receive prizes like collaboration items and in-game currency.

All three of the VTubers in this collaboration are quite well-known and popular. Kuzuha is the second most subscribed male VTuber in the world with over 1.70 million subscribers on YouTube. Tsukino Mito is part of the first generation of Nijisanji and one of the VTubers who propelled Anycolor into the juggernaut it is today. She currently has 1.21 million subscribers on YouTube. Finally, Sasaki Saku debuted as part of Nijisanji Gamers before retiring. Then, she returned two months later in 2019 and has remained at Anycolor ever since. She has over 854k subscribers on YouTube.

Knives Out is readily available on the Windows PC and mobile devices.

Dynasty Warriors Origins heads to PS5 Xbox Series X and PC with Tomohiko Sho as producer

Shortly after revealing Dynasty Warriors: Origins at the May 2024 State of Play, Koei Tecmo confirmed that the game will also be available on the Xbox Series X and PC via Steam in addition to the PlayStation 5. However, it turns out that the series' longtime producer Akihiro Suzuki is not leading the game's development. The company revealed that Tomohiko Sho, who is also the current head of the Omega Force brand studio, is the producer of Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Tomohiko Sho had been involved in the Dynasty Warriors franchise since the original fighting game came out on PlayStation in 1997. He was also involved in Dynasty Warriors 2 through 5, mostly as a planner.

The highest position Sho managed to achieve in the series before Origins was as the director in Dynasty Warriors 6 and the PS Vita entry NEXT. In more recent years, he worked as the producer for Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate in 2019, Touken Ranbu Warriors in 2022, and Fate/Samurai Remnant in 2023.

The new producer appointment, along with a new logo change for Omega-Force, show a drastic change in the brand studio's organizational structure in the development of Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Akihiro Suzuki has been regularly assuming the producer spot for the mainline numbered entries, including Dynasty Warriors 9 and its Empires spin-off. However, in recent months, the producer has been shifting his focus towards the mobile game that has been running in Japan since 2021.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2025.

Soulmask MammothSoulmask is an early access survival game so there are bound to be a few issues with the game right now, but it's basically unplayable on ultrawide monitors with a 21:9 or 32:9 aspect ratio because it's so zoomed in. It's not the perfect solution, but it will at least allow you to enjoy Soulmask for the time being on a 21:9 or 32:9 display. How to Fix Soulmask Zoom on Ultrawide Monitors While there isn't an FOV slider in Soulmask, you can tweak some of the game's files to zoom the camera out on ultrawide monitors. On Windows, search for and open "Run." Then, type "%localappdata%" and click OK. From there, navigate to"AppData\Local\WS\Saved\Con...

How to invite and join friends in SoulmaskSoulmask is the newest early access survival game to hit Steam, and even though it has a unique setting and theme, it still has the same basic skeleton as other games in the genre. That means you'll still be mining and gathering resources like Flint as part of the core gameplay loop. In addition to crashing issues and other glitches, Soulmask doesn't do a great job of showing new players where to harvest certain materials and resources though, and finding Flint is a huge roadblock for some Soulmask players. Thankfully, it's pretty easy to stock up on Flint once you know where to find it. Where to Mine Flint in Soulmask To get Flint in Soulmask, you need a pickaxe. The earliest pickaxe that you can craft in Soulmask is the stone pickaxe, which only requires one Branch and five Stone. You'll need to unlock the blueprint for the stone pickaxe in the Knowledge & Technology menu first, though. Once you have a stone pickaxe, just approach any rock and ...
