Even players with tip-top graphics cards are seeing heavy stuttering while out in the field, and none of the updates released thus far, including today's Hotfix #3, have done much to soothe it. Said hotfix does include some fixes for other widespread problems, including a second attempt at preventing players from becoming headless when rejoining a server (an amusing though resilient glitch, given a previous hotfix had also tried to nix it). But having played a bit of this third patch on a usually reliable RTX 4060, there's clearly an awful lot of work left to do before Gray Zone Warfare performs acceptably. |

Mages has revealed the main characters for Memories Off Sousou: Not Always True. The new title will appear as the ninth mainline entry to the long-running visual novel series.
The player will assume the role of Itsuki Kusumegi. The second-grade high school student is already assigned an unknown fiancee by his parents. The storyline will have a specific focus on Sae Sunomiya, a part-time worker at the Ressac restaurant and cafe who also attends the same school in the third grade. However, the story's early parts will have Sae harboring a negative impression of Itsuki due to a terrible first encounter at the restaurant.
Itsuki's childhood friend Nene Amaha will support him in building a relationship with Sae, although she also harbors feelings towards the protagonist. Other heroine candidates will include fellow light novel enthusiast Kazune Kitakata, the delinquent senior Setsuka Nakamori, and the half-German soccer player Marie Akira Forster.
Memories Off Sousou will also have several other supporting characters. The list includes Itsuki's best friend Arata Otani, the class teacher Tsubame Minami, the Ressac restaurant's chief trainer Shin Inaho, and Marie's teammate Hikari Kurauchi.

Mages will release the new ninth mainline entry to the visual novel series simultaneously on the PS4, Switch, and PC. The company had previously brought all prior mainline entries to the same platforms. That means when Sousou has come out, every mainline Memories Off entry will be available on those platforms.

HoYoVerse announced that its Honkai: Star Rail Mimo bot for Discord servers is now live. However, due to demand, we may also see issues when attempting to actually use it.
How it works is that once Mimo Bot is invited to a Discord server, people could link their Honkai: Star Rail account via HoYoLab and share data from the game with those in the channel. Its tutorial can be started with r/Tutorial. You can share character build pages and Battle Record details with the /Character command. If you're trying to make it easy to find more friends to add to your list in-game, you can enter /hsr-profile to display your name and UID. If you don't feel you need or want to be connected to Mimo Bot after that, then enter /unlink-hsr to disconnect from it.
HoYoVerse also shared some screenshots of how the Honkai: Star Rail Mimo Bot looks when implemented in a Discord server, so we have an idea of what to expect when we use it.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices. Its 2.2 update arrives on May 8, 2024. When it does, Robin and Topaz will be the first banners available and the new Trailblaze Missions will wrap up the Penacony storyline.

Square Enix issued an update on the status of both preferred and congested worlds for FFXIV. While the Server Status site offers on-the-fly updates, this is the developer's official status update for every region.
There are now 10 preferred worlds for FFXIV. They are split between the Japanese and European Data centers. For those in Japan, Atomos, Durandal, Garuda, Ridill, Yojimbo, and Zeromus are recommended. In Europe, suggested ones are Alpha, Omega, Raiden, and Spriggan.
Meanwhile, all of the congested FFXIV worlds are on the North American Data Centers. Square Enix added Adamantoise, Midgardsormr, and Siren to the list.
The update also went over some worlds that are now considered "standard" ones, which means they aren't recommended for moves or a part of the balancing incentive process, but also aren't considered overly congested destinations at this time.
These are the following worlds, with their Data Center mentioned after their names:
We could see the preferred and congested FFXIV worlds change again soon, as a new Data Center is about to open in Europe. That will be the Shadow Data Center. At the moment, only three worlds are confirmed for it. Those will be Innocence, Pixie, and Titania. People can actually see them in-game now, but we can't move to them just yet.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Dawntrail expansion will arrive on July 2, 2024.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom eached 20 million sales, Nintendo announced. This makes it the ninth best-selling Switch game since the console's release.
Nintendo made the announcement as part of their latest financial results. Tears of the Kingdom was the best-selling first-party Nintendo game released in 2023. Super Mario Bros Wonder and Pikmin 4 also sold well, sitting at 13 million and 3 million copies respectively. Overall, 20 first-party titles crossed 1 million sales within the last financial year.
The success of The Super Mario Bros Movie also led to increased sales for the Mario series across the board. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did especially well, selling 8 million units within the past financial year. It remains the best-selling Switch game, with total sales of 61 million.
According to Nintendo, here are the current best-selling Switch games to date, with The Legend of Zelda sales for two titles covered in the list:
Overall, Nintendo made 490 billion in net profit during the past financial year, an increase of 13 percent on the previous year. However, Switch sales have declined slightly, dropping from 17 million units sold in 2022/2023 to 15 million. However, Nintendo have confirmed that a successor to the Switch will be revealed within the current financial year.

V Rising finally left early access on the PC, with Stunlock Studios sharing its complete 1.0 form. I am the type of person who doesn't usually check out a game in early access, so I was looking forward to seeing what the hype was about with the full release. I can safely say now is the time to check out V Rising and take in fully everything it does right and wrong
The core idea of V Rising is that it is a persistent, online, survival crafting game, much like in the vein of titles like ARK, Minecraft, or Rust. The key difference, however, comes from the style. It focuses on vampires, letting the player awaken as this immortal being and then centering every aspect of the survival experience around your undead nature.
It all starts with the combat, which features a fascinating isometric view like Diablo to it. The player equips a main weapon to hack and slash away at opponents with a basic attack. But there are also skills players can use every few seconds, such as dashing forward instantly to dodge attacks or powerful AOE moves.
Furthermore, the players is also able to suck the blood of just about anyone in combat once their health gets low enough. This ability, in turn, connects to the overarching progression of the game and the vampire powers you can unlock. If you consume the blood of an animal, for instance, your vampire will start to develop more beastly abilities. This also goes for various types of humans and other beings.
These interconnecting systems provide a ton of depth and customization in V Rising, letting players craft their own unique kind of vampire, which I adore. That said, the game employs a less traditional leveling system. Instead of the usual approach, where you level up with XP, it focuses on the armor the player wears. The better armor someone has, the better overall "level" they have in combat. This makes gathering and crafting items essential in V Rising, rather than an afterthought. The basic materials, like wood and stone, allow the player to make basic armor and build as well.
Materials aren't just there to make weapons and armor; they also exist to build a home. Every player in a server can claim a plot of land for their own. The world is pretty massive, leaving plenty of space for anywhere from 40 to a couple hundred players in a server. You are able to build freely throughout your chosen plot. You can opt for a humble abode with just a coffin to sleep away the deadly daytime, or an extravagant castle that Dracula would be proud of.
There is so much depth when it comes to the number of housing items, furniture, and walls that I honestly spent most of my time doing developing my homestead. While the combat and world are fun, the building and crafting were most enjoyable. I appreciated consistently progressing through the quests to unlock more and more decorations to deck out my undead kingdom. You can get really in the weeds with this system. There are some excellent late game offerings in the castle as well, such as NPC servants to guard the place. After all, some of the servers offer PVP for those who prefer that style of play.
As a result of there being a much larger world in V Rising 1.0, there is plenty for even diehard early access players to check out. Above all else, there is a wealth of new endgame content. One of the new areas, is called Mortium and is home to none other than the vampire king Dracula. The entire realm is one massive dungeon in a way, with things like generals and new powers, to unlock. It is a true test of the player's strength and one of the key reasons why now is the right time to play V Rising.
While I am happy with the current state of V Rising, there are elements I do wish the experience had. For instance, there is a hefty lack of story. Sure, there are constantly quests to do to unlock stuff, but they lack writing, dialogue, and a narrative motivation. In addition, there's a lack of NPCs and traders in the world. The game's backstory mentions this lost vampire civilization, but why not have at least one hub town for vampires? There are cities, sure, but they simply act as places to hunt down humans to stave hunger. Fortunately, the multiplayer interactions with others via vampire clans and the like somewhat make up for this.
On another note, I played this game on Steam Deck. It ran pretty well with a decent frame rate and very little fluctuation. That said, I had problems at first getting the official controller function to work. It didn't automatically recognize the Steam Deck's controller functionality, so I had to do some digging to make it work. And when I did, I found the controller option could use some work. The buttons are very confusing. I still found myself forgetting which button opened what menu a dozen hours in. So, something to watch out for if you play V Rising on controller or PS5.
Overall, though, V Rising felt like an enjoyable survival crafting experience on controller once I got into the groove of it. Its fascinating blend of Diablo style action-RPG elements with deep progression, crafting, and building all work in tandem. While the world often feels empty at times due to the lack of NPCs to talk to, whether playing alone or with others, and there is no meaningful story of note, its gameplay hooks and vampire theme make this worth a look in its long-awaited 1.0 release.
V Rising is now available out of early access for PC via Steam. It will release for PS5 later this year in 2024.

Konami Amusement announced that it will release Dance Dance Revolution World, a brand-new entry to the arcade dancing rhythm game series, though the company has yet to reveal the new entry's launch window and new features. However, it did reveal Emi and Rage as the cover characters in World's new visual.
Konami will gradually replace the existing Dance Dance Revolution A3 cabinets with World once it has released the new version. The subtitle will also mark a new departure from the Dance Dance Revolution A subseries, which began in 2016. Konami subsequently released Dance Dance Revolution A20 in 2019, A20 Plus in 2020, and A3 in 2022. Dance Dance Revolution A3 was also noted for its addition of "Megalovania" from Toby Fox's Undertale.
The Dance Dance Revolution series has seen a recent upsurge in activity ever since Konami celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023. The company is also working with Zuiki to produce Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini. Initially available to crowdfunding backers, the companies will release the miniature emulator console to the public in late September 2024.
Dance Dance Revolution World will be available for arcades. Konami has yet to provide a launch window for the new entry as of this announcement.

HoYoVerse shared a new Honkai: Star Rail music video for the Robin song "Sway to My Beat." The track, or at least its chorus, should soon sound familiar to players, as it is the music that appears when Robin "performs" in-game.
The track is called "Sway to My Beat." It's an over two minute song from the new five-star Harmony character in Honkai: Star Rail, as performed by her singing voice actress Chevy. We get to watch as she walks through Penacony, with notable appearances from the Golden Hour area and some of the Origami Birds. We'll get to hear this song frequently once she becomes a playable character.

HoYoVerse shared a lot of insight into Robin ahead of her Honkai: Star Rail debut. For example, one animated video showed her and her brother Sunday as children. Another looked at her moveset and gameplay.
Honkai: Star Rail is available on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices. Robin will join the cast alongside Topaz's return as part of the May 8, 2024 2.2 update. That's also when we'll see the climax and conclusion to the Penacony Trailblaze Missions.

Microsoft announced it closed several studios under its Bethesda and Zenimax branches, including Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin. Some of the affected developers will be let go, while others will be folded into other teams in order to "[prioritize] high impact titles" (Thanks, IGN and @Jasonschreier!)
Arkane Austin's most recent title was the vampire-themed multiplayer shooter Redfall that released to widespread disappointment, but the studio was perhaps better known for 2017's sci-fi immersive sim Prey. Redfall itself will no longer be updated, but will remain online. Players who purchased battle passes or premium editions will be eligible to receive remuneration.
On Twitter, Arkane Lyon Co-Creative Director Dinga Bakaba lamented to closure of his studio's sister team and criticized the excutive decision-makers behind it.
Tango, meanwhile, produced games like The Evil Within series and Ghostwire: Tokyo before "shadow dropping" Hi-Fi Rush in 2023. Other studios to close include the mobile-focused Alpha Dog Games and Roundhouse Games, the latter of which will have its staff folded into the Elder Scrolls: Online development team.

Microsoft also recently announced an upcoming patch for Starfield, set to release on May 15, 2024. Meanwhile back in March, Blizzard's Diablo 4 became the first of the studio's games to join the Xbox Game Pass library.
Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin have been closed down by Microsoft. Both Hi-Fi Rush and Redfall will continue to be available but will not receive any further updates.

Sunrise revealed that it will hold an orchestra concert themed after Gundam SEED Freedom called Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom In Concert. It will take place in Yokohama, Japan, on July 6, 2024, and the concert will run twice at 12:30 JST and 17:30 JST on the same day.
Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform orchestral renditions of the movie's tracks, and footage from the movie will also be played simultaneously. The Gundam SEED series composer Toshihiko Sahashi will re-arrange the tracks on his own. Takanori "T.M. Revolution" Nishikawa and Lacus Clyne's voice actress Rie Tanaka will also sing in the concert. Meanwhile, the series director Mitsuo Fukuda will appear in a talk show with Toshihiko Sahashi.
Tickets for the concert will range from 11,000 yen (~$71.20) to 12,000 yen (~$77.70). Gundam Fanclub premium members can immediately join the lottery to earn the chance to purchase early bird tickets, which Sunrise will close on May 19, 2024. Public lotteries for the tickets will be available later from May 18, 2024, to June 2, 2024.
The concert will be primarily based on the movie, which is still available in theaters across Japan until May 23, 2024. Bandai Namco is also gradually bringing Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom to theaters in other countries worldwide. Sunrise also revealed that the movie has grossed over 4.52 billion yen—or around $2.877 million—as of May 1, 2024.

The Pokemon-themed rooms in Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach are still available throughout 2024, and more travel agencies offer tour packages that let people stay there. The Japanese international travel reservation app NEWT has launched the first tour packages featuring those special hotel rooms for residents of Japan.
NEWT has also shared an image showing the bonus items that people can get for staying in the rooms. In addition to a tumbler and purse with unique Pokemon designs, they will also receive two starter decks from the Indonesian language version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game.
People who apply for these tour packages will also get more amenities. The agency's staff will provide taxis to transport the visitors from Ngurah Rai Airport to Hotel Nikko and vice versa. It will also provide a 6,000 yen cashback in NEWT Points to cover the passport acquisition cost for families who have a child aged under 12.

The rooms themed after the popular video game franchise have been available in Bali since mid-February 2024. Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach set up the rooms as part of a major Pokemon promotional event in Indonesia. Pikachu's Indonesia Journey event launched in Bali in March 2024. The Pokemon Company will also hold a new event in Surabaya, the capital city of East Java province, on May 10-19, 2024.

Nintendo's Shuntaro Furukawa revealed that the company will reveal a new console that acts as the successor to Nintendo Switch within "this fiscal year." The company's president made the announcement during the fiscal year that started in April 2024, therefore it is expected to stage the actual reveal by the end of the fiscal year in March 2025.
The new console reveal will not be held soon after Furukawa's announcement, though. In the same tweet made on Nintendo's official corporate X account, the president also confirmed that the company will hold a new Nintendo Direct in June 2024. However, this program will not feature the new successor console. Nintendo will only showcase new games that will appear on the Switch in the latter half of 2024 during the June Direct.
Furukawa added that nine years have passed since Nintendo formally acknowledged the presence of Nintendo Switch in March 2015. The console was previously only known by its codename "NX." After confirming "Switch" as the console's formal name, Nintendo released it worldwide in March 2017.
