Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome
With Google and OpenAI both revealing their big AI plans in recent weeks, and with Apple expected to do the same next month, you could have been forgiven for forgetting about Microsoft. But AI is a huge part of the tech giant’s plans for Windows, and anyone following its annual Build conference will have been left in no doubt about that.

To that end, it unveiled a heap of new hardware and software with AI at its heart, including new Surface laptops built around Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X chips and their AI-friendly neural processing units. It also showed off a new Recall feature, which takes screenshots every few seconds, then stores them away so that you can search for anything you’ve done on your machine. A privacy nightmare? Maybe, but interesting nonetheless. There was much more, including a new iPad-rival Surface Pro tablet, and you can read about the highlights in the articles linked below.

The other big event on our minds this week is the Memorial Day sales, which are now in full swing, even though Memorial Day itself isn't until Monday. You won’t find the new Surface devices there, but you will find a lot more, including some huge savings on OLED TVs, appliances and, yes, iPads. Happy shopping!
