New Fallout 4 mod remakes first game with free demo coming very soon

It's hard to imagine now given the advances in gaming technology, but stepping out of Vault 13 into the wide post-apocalyptic wasteland was a stunning moment in the first Fallout. You went from a dank cave filled with rats to a massive map you could explore in any direction, which was huge for 1997. Many Fallout games have replicated that feeling of leaving the vault in the years following, but the first still holds a special place in many hearts. Fallout Vault 13 is a brand new Fallout 4 mod that aims to recreate that moment - and the entire first game - and it's got a demo you'll be able to play surprisingly soon.

Fortnite finally gives battle pass skins a second chance at life

I lost count of how many crossover skins are in Fortnite a very long time ago. There is a relentless barrage of new collaborations with other videogames, movies, anime, and celebrities. However, a lot of these crossovers often manifest within a seasonal battle pass, and the main issue with that is once the season is over, they vanish into the void for those who didn't manage to get them. Well, Epic Games is about to change that, revealing that battle pass items can now return to Fortnite in the future through the game's store, but there are some caveats to consider.

August 7, 2024: Added two new WWE 2K24 codes.

What are the new WWE 2K24 locker codes? One of the many modes in WWE's latest wrestling game is the returning MyFaction mode. For those who don't know, this is a variant on the premium mode from other 2K sports games, where the aim is to build a faction of wrestlers to take on online challenges against AI or matches against other player-controlled teams.

These WWE 2K24 locker codes are specifically for the MyFaction mode, so if you're looking for other WWE 2K24 unlockables, then we have a separate guide to help you get all the Wrestlemania arenas and MyRise unlockables, as well as the ability to play as all the WWE Legends. Instead, these WWE 2K24 codes work similarly to the NBA 2K24 locker codes, which tend to come and go quickly. If you don't want to miss out, particularly if you have read our WWE 2K24 review, you can check out the newest ones below.

Best Metroidvania games to play in 2024

What are the best Metroidvania games on PC? With mechanics that have spread to all genres, few games beat a sprawling Metroidvania. Mostly 2D with some straightforward combat, tricky platforming, and light RPG mechanics, a Metroidvania demands you use all the abilities at your disposal to explore castles, alien-infested planets, whimsical forests, and so on.

Nintendo's Super Metroid and Konami's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night popularized the Metroidvania, but the genre has come into its own since these inaugural titles. While many of the best Metroidvania PC games try to recapture the spirit of their forebears, others expand into new territories by incorporating mechanics from pinball and soulslikes. The result is a dynamic genre that offers a wealth of familiar and fresh experiences - some recent, many of them cheap, and a few of them some of the best PC games ever made.

     Capcom told Leon's actor to

There are a few characters that are just built different. For me, it's World of Warcraft's Sylvanas Windrunner, or Dragon Age's Morrigan - perhaps even add Uncharted's Nathan Drake to the list. But my roster is relatively obscure, based around the games I played (and was allowed to play) as a child. While I loved all things gory, my mom wasn't as keen, meaning things like Silent Hill and Resident Evil weren't exactly accessible to me. If they had been, though, I know that Capcom's horror series would have quickly become a favorite, and Leon Kennedy would have defined my childhood as much as the Witch of the Wilds or the Banshee Queen.

Nvidia App gets an update, and it is a must for GeForce GPU users

Destiny 2 classes and subclasses guide

Which Destiny 2 class should you choose? The class system behind Bungie's hit looter shooter has changed a lot in the many years since Destiny 2 players first took on the Red Legion in the fight for the Light. Though Destiny 2 still includes its Warlock, Titan, and Hunter classes - the same ones that first appeared in the original Destiny game - the once-simple Arc, Solar, and Void elemental subclasses have grown to include Aspects, and Fragments. The game also now includes the Darkness-based subclasses Stasis and Strand, as well as the complex Prismatic subclass.

Each of the Destiny 2 classes has a unique kit that leverages one of the game's five elements to allow players to develop builds that suit their specific style of play. The team at Bungie is constantly iterating to keep the game fun and fresh in what many say is one of the best free PC games out there. While this is great for Destiny 2's most active players, casual players, and newcomers may struggle to keep up with the game's evolving subclass systems and how they differ from other FPS games, especially with the arrival of the Destiny 2 Strand subclass which has reinvented the style of play.

In an upcoming interview with Famitsu, Fate/Extra Record Director Kazuya Niino talked about the improvements in graphical fidelity, hardware performance, as well as changes to the structure of the original game. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

In a few snippets of the interview shared by leaker ryokutya2089, Director Niino said that, because the original Fate/Extra PSP release didn't have that much volume of content, the developers were capable of adding what they think the original was lacking as well as increasing the production value of the game. For example, the Arena sections, where combat and exploration take front and center, have been substantially reworked compared to the original PSP release.

Additionally, with the jump in hardware from the PSP to the last and current generation of consoles as well as PC, Type-Moon Studio BB was capable of displaying a larger number of NPCs and characters in the classrooms and different areas of the game. Niino also said that, with Fate/Extra Record, the developers aren't making a game that requires heavy hardware performance.

Fate/Extra Record is currently in development and it will come out in Japan sometime on 2025 for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam. There is no confirmation on an overseas release yet.

RX-78-2 Gundam utility hole cover in Minamiuonuma Niigata Japan

Bandai Namco and Sunrise have set up a new Gundam utility hole cover in Japan's Niigata prefecture. People can find the uniquely designed cover in the city of Minamiuonuma.

The new cover features the RX-78-2 Gundam with the Koshihikari rice plant as its backdrop. The Niigata prefecture has been known as the largest rice-producing region in the country, and Minamiuonuma City also hosts some of the Koshihikari rice paddy fields in the region.

The video showing the placement of the Gundam utility hole cover in Minamiuonuma is also available to watch via Asahi Shimbun Digital's official X account:

https://twitter.com/asahicom/status/1821020942723920118

The RX-78-2 Gundam will not be the only design to appear in Minamiuonuma. The city revealed in May 2024 that it will also place another utility hole cover featuring the YMS-15 Gyan with Mount Hakkai as its background.

These utility hole cover placements are part of the Gundam Manhole Project, which has been ongoing since February 2020. Sunrise temporarily stopped accepting new applications in June 2022, as many cities and towns across Japan have lined up for the project. The studio plans to clear its backlog by the 2024 fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2025.

The utility hole covers are based on the 1979 anime Mobile Suit Gundam, which has also been getting various merchandise ranging from si-gu-mi paper art puzzles to Crocs footwear. The show's compilation movies that originally launched in the 1980s are also available to watch worldwide via Netflix.

New Baldur's Gate 3 Honour Mode and Romance Stats Revealed

Larian shared an array of new Baldur's Gate 3 stats in honor of the game's first anniversary, and many of them had to deal with its Honour Mode, romance options, and endings. For example, only 141,660 people beat Honour Mode, Shadowheart was the love interest kissed the most, and only 34 people saw a certain Lae'zel avatar ending.

To provide more context for the Baldur's Gate 3 Honour Mode stats, the figure accounted for seems to have took 1,364,965 playthroughs into account. This is because the figures Larian provided noted there were 1,223,305 failed playthroughs and 141,660 situations where the players succeeded. It also went on to say that 24% of the people who "lost" in Honour Mode went on to keep going in Custom Mode, rather than deleting the save.

The Baldur's Gate 3 first anniversary romance stats build on the earlier ones that revealed Shadowheart was the most popular love interest. The new stats said she got 27 million of the over 75 million total companion kisses. Astarion came in second with 15 million. The update also noted 32.5% of players picked Shadowheart for the Act 1 Celebration Night, then 48.8% of players saw her final romance scene in Act 3. The update there also noted 13.5% of people picked Karlach in Act 1, and 17.6% of them had dinner with her in Act 3. The final stats went over different intimacy options for Halsin and the Emperor, with 1.1 million people choosing the latter over the 658,000 who picked the former.

The new Baldur's Gate 3 ending stats involved quite a few spoilers, as you may imagine. One of the surprising reveals here had to deal with Avatar Lae'zel. Only 34 people picked that character and route, then took drastic measures when things didn't go as the character hoped. The other stats had to deal with Orpheus, the Emperor, Gale, and Netherbrain's fates.

Here are all the Larian Studio infographics for Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

One Piece Odyssey Switch

We end up seeing games that didn't normally appear on the Switch show up on the system all the time. Sometimes, these ports aren't exactly what we expected. Or you might look at it and think it wouldn't work. While I was pretty sure One Piece Odyssey would be fine once Bandai Namco released the Switch version, I was surprised at how well it works. Some visual and framerate compromises aside, it's a pretty great way to play the game.

First, I was astonished by the One Piece Odyssey Switch loading times. Though, in this case, it was the lack of loading times. This is a substantial game with a lot of detail even in this port. Yet somehow, the loading is swifter than some pixelated or less demanding games I've played on the system. I'm not sure if some sort of wizardry is at play, but I expected at least 20 second loading times, and not often under 10 seconds. You do have to load between battles, but after the load times in a certain other Switch version of an RPG I played, it didn't bother me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAhvMXLf3Og

As you might expect, the CG scenes all look great. Those movies that help propel this original One Piece story forward don't lose anything in the transition to the Switch, even in handheld mode. I really appreciated how clear they were and how little is lost when the resolution dropped. Actual character models for allies and enemies in the field, as well as environmental elements, do take a hit when compared to when I played it on the PS5. It's only natural. However, the portability made it worth it for me, since I was nearly exclusively testing out One Piece Odyssey in handheld mode.

The only time One Piece Odyssey did seem to stutter in its performance on the Switch was when framerate got involved. I didn't actually start seeing this immediately, because it seems the FPS issues only are an issue when you aren't reliving the Straw Hat's past experiences. I think it only happens happens in you're in certain open areas, perhaps because of how much is being taken into account and displayed. But I didn't experience too much of an issue in most battles or areas. It's only occasionally that it seems to drastically dip.

I feel like the affordability issue is what really cinches it and makes the One Piece Odyssey Deluxe Edition Switch version seem so good. It's $59.99 on the system. That gets you access to the additional Reunion of Memories storyline and three outfit sets. To compare, on Steam or the PlayStation Store the standard edition is that price. The Deluxe Edition is $84.99 on both of those platforms and, while you still get Reunion of Memories, also only includes an accessory set, 100,000 Berries, and a Sniper King outfit for Usopp. It is just a a much better deal. The additional scenario pack alone on Steam or other storefronts is $24.99.

In general, One Piece Odyssey fits shockingly well on the Switch. I didn't expect the performance to be so smooth. Like yes, it absolutely ran and looked better on the PS5. But considering what it's doing and how much is there, I didn't feel like there were too many compromises. Besides, the result is getting another enjoyable JRPG on the system.

One Piece Odyssey is available on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Metal Gear Solid Codec Pins Appear in November

The iconic Metal Gear Solid Codec character portraits will appear as pins that light up in the dark. Bushiroad Creative is planning to release the pin badges as capsule toys in Japan sometime in November 2024, and each one will cost 300 yen (or approximately $2.)

The 8 characters featured in the new line of Metal Gear Solid Codec pin badges include Solid Snake, Colonel Roy Campbell, Master Miller, Mei Ling, Meryl Silverburgh, Naomi Hunter, Nastasha Romanenko, and Hal "Otacon" Emmerich. Each pin is approximately 45mm tall, or about 1.77 inches.
