Upcoming FPS Delta Force Hawk Ops says it will

FPS games are everywhere right now - especially ones dipping a toe into the extraction shooter subgenre. It feels like you can't move without hitting an Escape from Tarkov, Gray Zone Warfare, Arena Breakout Infinite, or Level Zero Extraction. Delta Force Hawk Ops is one title that's also sticking a digit into extraction waters, along with a dash of Battlefield and a soupçon of the original Delta Force series. With a currently-running playtest proving popular, its developer has taken the time to address a few questions the community has about its free-to-play model.

Splitgate 2 release date window, trailer, gameplay, and more

What is the Splitgate 2 release date? 1047 Games has finally broken its silence, revealing to the world its sequel to one of the best arena shooters out there. While Splitgate 2 is still filled to the brim with portal-poppin' action, there are new strategic layers to the shooter that could take it to the next-level thanks to the introduction of class-based factions: Aeros, Meridian, and Sabrask.

While plenty of new games are announced with a glitzy CGI trailer before going dark for a hot minute, 1047 has been quick off the mark to let Splitgate 2 gameplay out into the wild for us all to salivate over. We're not saying it's going to be one of the best FPS games of 2025 - it's too early for that. However, as firm Splitgate enjoyers, we can't wait to see how the studio incorporates its learnings from the original game into this shiny new endeavor. Here's what we know about the Splitgate 2 release date so far, including information about the trailers, gameplay, and more.

Classic CoD Zombies returns as Hellbreach Vegas hits 1.0 on Steam

Left 4 Dead 3, despite being a dead-set winner to top the best zombie games on Steam, seems unlikely to appear any time soon. Back 4 Blood has been put to bed by Turtle Rock Studios. Killing Floor 3 is yet to have a date. Call of Duty Zombies shambles on in Black Ops 6, yet in a perhaps fittingly twisted form far from the days of old. As you can imagine, when I saw Witchfire I immediately went 'Lauren game,' and couldn't wait to dive on in. Issue is, it's only available via the Epic Games Store, and while I've got it downloaded already for work purposes, I'd much rather everything was just on Steam.      Neural Dominion is a cyberpunk 4X strategy game crammed with crime

With Civilization 7 on the way, we can expect another serious contender to the ranks of the best 4X games around. It's a very historically driven genre, however, so games like Stellaris and Age of Wonders 4 that step outside the traditional boundaries of the Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis series always catch the eye. So it is with newcomer Neural Dominion. Combining the crime-dense neon streets of Cyberpunk 2077 with the overarching strategy game structure of Civ and a little splash of that XCOM-style street combat for good measure, this is shaping up to be one of the most distinctive 4X offerings we've seen in a while.

One of Steam's best strategy games, Two Point Campus has a new sequel

Cities Skylines 2 and Civilization 6 are strategy games in the big sense of the term, defined by large-scale governmental and philosophical decision making. But there's another kind of strategy game. Epitomized by the work of Bullfrog and Chris Sawyer, here, it's the small things that matter. In Rollercoaster Tycoon, it's not about inventing the lightbulb or building a new block of apartments. You're agonizing over the correct price for hotdogs. In Theme Hospital, the difference between success and failure depends on how many vending machines you put in the lobby. In Two Point Campus and Two Point Hospital, Sega and the self-titled Two Point Studios have kept this brand of management-strategy games alive. Now it's back with the freshly announced Two Point Museum.

Until now, the Steam 'new and trending' tab has been an absolute nightmare.      Dreamlight Valley Rift in Time DLC Act 3 release date

When is the Dreamlight Valley Act 3 release date? The first part of the Dreamlight Valley DLC, Eternity Isle, was released back in December 2023, coinciding with the base game's release out of early access. Now, just five months later, more content arrives with Act 2.

Arriving alongside the next Dreamlight Valley update, the third Rift in Time expansion will welcome more characters to Eternity Isle and presumably complete Jafar's story arc in the life game. Since December 2023, we've been helping the Disney villain while simultaneously trying to stop him wreaking havoc in Dreamlight Valley, and it's nearly time to see if we succeed when the Rift in Time Act III release date arrives.

Genshin Impact tier list August 2024 - the best characters in 4.8

Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 89 Genshin Impact characters available, providing you with a wide variety of candidates to construct your dream team. But with so many weapons, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellation upgrades, finding your favorites can be challenging.

Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. It doesn't matter if your favorite Genshin Impact character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds. Being on a lower tier in the free PC game means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine. We've spent hundreds of hours trying different variations of teams in Spiral Abyss to establish who the best characters are in Genshin Impact.

You should try Crow Country, the Silent Hill style horror rated 98%

On the surface, Crow Country is an appeal to nostalgia in the same way as Dusk or the recent crop of modernized boomer shooters. With a quasi-fixed camera, fuzzy, polygonal visuals, and mechanics lifted from old-school Resident Evil and Silent Hill, it appears, at a glance, like a calculated appeal to your gaming memories - it's even set in the '90s. But there's a smart wrinkle in the setup, a little narrative twist that I won't spoil, that lends Crow Country a more cynical, subversive edge when it comes to the idea of skipping back in time. Rightly beloved on Steam, SFB's plucky survival horror game is now cheaper than ever alongside five other recent genre hits.

New Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 could arrive next week, says leak

Just last week, rumors emerged of Nvidia working on a new variant of the RTX 4070 that uses slightly slower GDDR6 memory, instead of the usual GDDR6X. Now, a new rumor suggests these new Nvidia RTX 4070 GDDR6 cards could be appearing on shop shelves as soon as next week.

The move to slightly change the VRAM configuration of one of the best graphics card options you can buy right now is a seemingly strange one but has apparently been forced by a shortage of GDDR6X RAM. As such, Nvidia and its partners have apparently had to work on a solution that allows for one of its more affordable and popular cards to continue being sold.

How much have I spent on LoL?

14/08/2024 The Riot support page for finding money spent is currently back 'under construction'. We will update this page once it is back up and running. Fortunately, there is an alternative Riot support ticket method that only takes a couple of extra clicks - a method we've also outlined below.

How do you see how much you have spent on League of Legends? Riot Games' hugely successful MOBA is technically a free game, but if you ask any avid fan if that's the case, you'll no doubt receive a wry laugh in response. The champion pool is diverse and wonderful; each character can be purchased with currency earned while playing. Premium cosmetics, however, are bought with real-world money.

These League of Legends skins and other cosmetics can be purchased directly using an in-game currency called RP. RP itself, though, must be purchased with your hard-earned cash. LoL skins change the base look of the character you're playing, with premium cosmetics adding new effects, voice lines, and animations. Then there's the battle pass that can be bought using RP, too. So, while League of Legends is technically one of the best free PC games around, you can see just how easily it can sway you into parting with your money. This guide will give you the information needed to find out exactly how much you've spent in League of Legends - you just might not like the answer when you get it.

We have lined up these racing games on a starting grid and are interested to see how things shake out. Will the realism-obsessed driving sims take the lead with their sublime physics engines? Might the futuristic combat racers simply destroy the opposition with explosive rockets? Or perhaps a nippy arcade crowd-pleaser will soar to the finish line, propelled by the sound of roaring cheers. It's all to play for here at our incredibly messed-up grand prix with a worrying lack of rules or regulation. Start your engines, everyone, these are the 11 best racing games on PC. 3! 2! 1! ...

The next advance in video game graphics technology is not ray-tracing or tray-racing or any variation thereof - it's janky stop motion and rubbish plastic dolls, and it actually began about 30 years ago, when I watched the Adam and Joe show for the first time. If you never watched the Adam and Joe show, they used to do home movie recreations of famous films like Titanic and Saving Private Ryan using stuffed animals and action figures. I found these "Toymovies" hysterical as a kid - I suspect they are less so now. Probably, they are full of jokes we might tentatively class as "of their time". The point is, Reptilian Rising is sort of Toymovie: The Game.

The Crimson Diamond is a proper old-school style puzzle adventure. It's 2D pixel art, with a limited colour palette as in EGA games, and you control it with a text parser, like King's Quest or one of them other Sierra adventures old men like Graham remember. It's important to mention this up front because it's very possible that, despite The Crimson Diamond's tale of betrayal, murder, and mineral rights in 1914 Canada, the text parser element will be a Rubicon you instantly can't be arsed to cross. A not unreasonable stance - though I think the text parser in The Crimson Diamond is fantastic. Such beef that I have with this adventure game is down to the specificity required to solve some of the puzzles.

KIBORG: Arena feels like a throwback in several ways that I quite enjoy. It's a free prologue to the upcoming cyberpunk puncher KIBORG. The titular arena is a large room in which you, a large man, bash a large amount of enemies. You have to punch a gong between waves to trigger the next, and this struck me as a nice pre-emptive nudge that every problem you face in Kiborg can be solved by rapidly moving your fist towards offending objects, which turned out not to be too far off the mark.

Satirical space RPG sequel The Outer Worlds 2 was announced back in 2021. Since then, we've heard nary a peep about it, with developers Obsidian focusing on Pillars Of Eternity successor Avowed and their ace survival game Grounded, which left early access in September 2022. According to Obsidian's studio head Feargus Urquhart, the project is rubbing along nicely. But it was not ever thus: during the opening years of the Covid pandemic, there was apparently "talk of 'do we stop Outer Worlds 2 and just throw the whole team on Avowed'."

Valve have made no secret of their plans to make SteamOS – the Linux-based operating system that powers the Steam Deck – available to other games-playing devices, including rival handhelds. After a recent beta update mentioned adding support for the Asus ROG Ally's inputs, The Verge confirmed with Valve that SteamOS support for non-Steam Deck portables is still very much in the works. The Deck's long-promised dual booting capability, on the other hand, sounds further down the to-do list.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Tiana

Tiana from The Princess and the Frog is the next addition to Disney Dreamlight Valley. She will be coming the game on August 21, 2024, along with additional new content.

Tiana had previously been confirmed as part of the Disney Dreamlight Valley roadmap, but the latest developer update has provided more details. Two new locations will be added alongside her: Tiana's Palace and Tiana's Meal Stall. Tiana's Palace will be the setting of a quest where you help Tiana cook meals for her customers, while the meal stall will be a place to purchase meals on the go.

New costumes and furniture based on the 1920s setting of The Princess and the Frog will also be added. These include a flapper dress and a sweater vest. Donald Duck will also gain a Dream Style which dresses him in a patterned jacket and straw boater.

In addition to Tiana, the latest Disney Dreamlight Valley update will also feature the latest story expansion, "A Rift in Time Act 3: Treasures of Time." The story follows on from the end of Act 2, where Jafar opened a rift above the valley. This is causing time anomalies, such as turning Mickey Mouse into his Steamboat Willie iteration. Completion of this storyline will add Jafar to the valley.

The latest update will also add a number of improvements to Disney Dreamlight Valley. These improvements include the ability to favorite or hide outfit pieces and furniture, and outfit presets will allow you to save your custom outfits for later use. Cross-platform play is also being added for PlayStation systems.

Tiana will release for Disney Dreamlight Valley on August 21, 2024. The game is available now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, iOS, Nintendo Switch, and PC

a Devil May Cry Trish Figure Inspired by 4th and 5th Games 1

While the Asmus Toys site isn't showing the Devil May Cry Trish figure just yet, Big Bad Toy Store already started taking pre-orders for the scale figure that includes head parts based on DMC 4 and 5. It will cost $194.99, and it should ship in Q3 2024.  [Thanks, Wario64!]

This Devil May Cry Trish action figure is a 1/6 scale one that stands at over 10 inches tall. She wears a fabric outfit. The two head options are based on her DMC 4 and 5 appearances, with the one for the fifth game involving rooted hair. She comes with four pairs of hands, some of which are designed to hold her Luce and Ombra pistols or the Devil Sword Sparda. She also comes with a weapon rack for displaying her equipment, a decorative towel, and a box with pizza in it.

Here's a gallery of official Asmus Toys photos of the figure.

This isn't the only Devil May Cry figure from Asmus Toys. It also released one of Lady from Devil May Cry 3. That is available now for $210. Dante and Vergil figures appeared before that.

The Devil May Cry Trish figure with head parts based on DMC 4 and 5 will launch in Q3 2024.

Dead Rising Mega Man Outfit

Capcom has released a trailer showing off the Mega Man costume in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. The outfit will be available as part of the Digital Deluxe pre-order edition.

The Mega Man outfit is a costume available for Frank West to wear as he battle zombies in the Willamette Parkview Mall in the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Despite being labeled as Mega Man, the outfit is more directly based on MegaMan.EXE from the Mega Man Battle Network series. The outfit will come with a music track, "Running Through the Cyber World" taken from the original Battle Network game.

The Mega Man costume is part of a selection of outfits available with the Digital Deluxe Edition. Many of these outfits are based on other Capcom games, including Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 2, Ken from the Street Fighter series and Tron Bonne from Mega Man Legends. Each character will come with a music track that will play over the mall sound system while wearing it. While these outfits are part of the Digital Deluxe Edition, they will also be available separately as DLC.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will release on September 19, 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Physical editions of the console versions will release on November 8, 2024.

Date Z Dating Sim Set During Zombie Outbreak

Mass Creation and We Dig Games announced Date Z, a visual novel dating sim set in a high school during a zombie outbreak. It will launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on August 30, 2024, with a Nintendo Switch version also in the works.

In Date Z, you're a new high school senior at a school, but establishing yourself is only a part of the issue. It is near a former military base, and it seems like a supernatural foe is tied to that. Since this is a dating sim, surviving the ensuing zombie outbreak is also tied to getting a date with one of four young women at your new school. Four of them have been revealed so far, and they are Alicia, Bao, Patty, and Vivica. The announcement also noted that people will be able to experience multiple timelines as they play.

Here are the profiles for Alicia, Bao, Patty, and Vivica:

You can watch the first trailer showing how this zombie outbreak dating sim will work. It seems to be a fairly straightforward visual novel.

Finally, a number of screenshots also appeared showing the different situations off.

Date Z will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on August 30, 2024. A Switch version is also in development.

Genshin Impact World Level 9 Appears in 5.0 Update

HoYoVerse announced that when the 5.0 version of Genshin Impact arrives, those of us who get to Adventurer Rank 58 can then go up to World Level 9. If someone does, there will be additional perks and rewards for those efforts.

The current Genshin Impact World Level and Adventurer Rank caps are 8 and 60, and so far only the World Level cap is set to increase and go up to 9. HoYoVerse noted someone will need to get to AR58 to unlock that new Ascension Quest. The teaser image that appeared alongside it noted someone will get 100 Primogems, two Acquaint Fates to pull on the Standard Wish banner, and 50,000 Mora for completing that quest.

Taking the Genshin Impact World Level up to 9 will increase enemy levels, boss rewards, and basic drops. At the moment, we unlock World Levels 7 and 9 after Ascension Quest 4. Getting to 9 will increase enemy levels by about 10. Since the current highest cap is in the 90s, this could mean we see foes in the 100s. The Abyss Mages, Kairagis, Nobushis, Ruin Graders, Ruin Guards, Ruin Hunters, and Specters' drop rates for items will all increase after getting to that level. Also, fighting bosses will get you three or more Character Level-Up Materials.

As a reminder, going up to World Level 9 will limit who can play with you. Only other people at that same level would be able to visit your World. However, you'd still be able to go to the Worlds of any other players at 9 or lower.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The 5.0 Special Program will air on August 16, 2024. The game will appear at gamescom 2024.

star rail jiaoqiu

HoYoVerse has started the marketing for Jiaoqiu, the newest limited 5-star character for Honkai: Star Rail. Jiaoqiu will be a Fire Nihility character who'll debut during the second phase of Version 2.4.

A HoYoLab post confirms information about Jiaoqiu's kit, as well as provides more details about his personality. In terms of his lore, he is a foxian healer and advisor on the Xianzhou Yaoqing. He prefers to use food as a sort of medicine, with a particular affinity for hot pot. In terms of his kit, Jiaoqiu is like a more premium version of fellow Fire Nihility Guinaifen. He specializes in dealing DoT damage with Ashen Roast, which also increases how much DMG they take. With his Ultimate, he can create a Zone that causes enemies within it to take more Ultimate DMG.

Here is a "Keeping Up With Star Rail" segment on Jiaoqiu:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcPAEB3Ifyo

It is also available in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Fellow Xianzhou Yaoqing operative Moze is the guest this time. He and Owlbert discuss Jiaoqiu's abilities in combat, as well as his personality. While we already knew a bit about him from the Version 2.4 Trailblaze Continuance and the March 7th event, the Keeping Up With Star Rail segment explains that there are more tragic reasons behind his perpetual smile and his love of spicy food.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Jiaoqiu will appear in the banner from August 21, 2024.

In order to fully ascend Jiaoqiu, you'll need to farm: 15 Immortal Scionettes, 15 Immortal Aeroblossoms, 15 Immortal Lumintwigs, 65 Raging Hearts, and 308,000 Credits. You can find the Immortal series of Character Materials from enemies like Disciples of Sanctus Medicus: Ballistarius or The Ascended. They're all over the Xianzhou Luofu. As for Raging Heart, you can farm for it from Stagnant Shadow: Shape of Ire. This boss is in the City Sandpit in Penacony's Dewlight Pavilion.

Here's how to level up Jiaoqiu's Traces

honkai star rail jiaoqiu trace materials
Image via HoYoVerse

To fully level up a single non-Basic Attack Trace for Jiaoqiu, you'll need:

  • 9 Immortal Scionettes
  • 13 Immortal Aeroblossoms
  • 7 Immortal Lumintwigs
  • 3 Fiery Spirits
  • 15 Starfire Essences
  • 30 Heaven Incinerators
  • 3 Regrets of Infinite Ochema
  • 2 Tracks of Destiny
  • 652,500 Credits

You can get the Regrets of Infinite Ochema drop from Echo of War: Phantylia the Undying. This boss is in the Scalegorge Waterscape on the Xianzhou Luofu. Most of Jiaoqiu's damage will come from his unique Ashen Roast DoT, which is similar to Burn. He's basically like a premium male Guinaifen in that sense. So when you build him, you should focus on his Talent and Ultimate Traces first before working on anything else.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

kasumi yoshizawa persona 5 royal sumire

Kasumi Yoshizawa, or Violet, is a character exclusive to Persona 5 Royal, with promotional material hyping her up prior to the game's debut in 2019. However, despite her status as the shiny new girl, the narrative treats her so poorly compared to other characters in her wheelhouse—think Marie, Theo, and Metis—that I can't help but like her out of pity. Kasumi is a good character; I just wish Atlus framed her story a bit better.

As a note, this entire article will go into major spoilers for the third semester of Persona 5 Royal.

From April until December (the vanilla portion of Persona 5), Kasumi Yoshizawa is your junior. She's really good at gymnastics and awakens to a Persona of her own after she falls into the Metaverse with Joker. Life isn't all perfect for this star gymnast though. She had a sister named Sumire who died in a tragic accident a short while back. Because the vanilla portion of Persona 5 Royal remains more or less unchanged from the base game, Kasumi doesn't play a large part in the story until the new plotline in the third semester. You learn very early on in the Royal Palace that Kasumi Yoshizawa died. The "Kasumi Yoshizawa" you've known all this time is actually Sumire Yoshizawa, whom Maruki accidentally brainwashed with his actualization powers into thinking she's Kasumi.

persona 5 royal sumire counseling session with maruki
Image via Atlus

Once Sumire recovers her personality and identity, you can see her for how she actually is. She's not the peppy and cheery junior that Joker knew for most of the school year. In reality, Sumire has a lot of issues she's unable to mask or suppress. Her anxieties poked through even as Kasumi. But as Sumire, she's obviously depressed and suffers from her self-worth issues and guilt. In the story proper, she recovers and faces off against Maruki. But considering how long she's lived as Kasumi and how she never got the chance to deal with her sister's death in a healthy way, I doubt that Sumire's journey to recovery is anywhere close to being done. Royal made me like Sumire in a way that I never did Kasumi, but it's because I wanted her to get the satisfying closure everyone else did.

I thought for sure that the reveal of Maruki's brainwashing was to link her to the plot, as well as to show how terrible actualization is. The thing is, the game seems to want you to view Maruki with sympathy. Most of the characters express how sad it is that he lost his girlfriend, and Sumire mentions at multiple points that she believes Maruki's intentions were good and genuine. She even states that he did help her. While a game's views don't always have to reflect the player's, this bizarre values dissonance dogs me every time I think about Sumire as a character. It feels odd that the game never fully acknowledges how many lines Maruki crossed. In retrospect, that's kind of par for the course in Persona 5, where the writing will introduce genuinely interesting story beats and themes, but never delve deep enough into them.

persona 5 royal sumire gymnastics

Sumire frames Maruki's help as a positive thing, because it gave her time to step away from the trauma for a bit and recover. Now, I'm no psychologist or therapist by any means. But the idea of simply forgetting who you are and taking on a new identity in order to forget about a horrible death in your family doesn't seem like a healthy coping mechanism. My understanding is that Sumire was not aware on any level that she's actually Sumire; she fully, both consciously and unconsciously, thought herself as Kasumi. So her talking as if she (Sumire) remained conscious within the Kasumi personality felt strange considering how the game described her brainwashing. No matter how it works though, I found it very eyebrow-raising how quickly Sumire defended and justified Maruki's actions for him. The way he violated her was vile within the context of the plot.

"Violated" is a strong word. But it's the closest to the severe ick I felt during the flashback to Maruki using his powers on her. The way that Sumire went from borderline suicidal to bright and peppy in a heartbeat was so creepy. No amount of the game trying to convince me it was good will get me to accept that. It's not just the forced erasure of Sumire's identity. It's the fact that Sumire hated herself even when Kasumi was alive, and Maruki's idea of helping her inadvertently created the internal narrative that she was the one to die. That Kasumi did deserve to be the one to survive. Sumire is so much better than me because if my therapist did that to me, I wouldn't be saying anything positive about him at all, dead girlfriend be damned.

persona 5 royal maruki
Image via Atlus

In my opinion, Maruki is a complex and interesting character. I understand why he has a lot of fans and it's not just because my timeline is full of people who love older anime men. Part of why Maruki is fascinating is that he's the well-intentioned extremist type of villain. His methods have their flaws, but when Maruki says he's trying to help someone, he's telling the truth. Unfortunately, his multiple hang-ups from his past prevent him from seeing the errors in his ways, as well as justify them in his head. These kinds of villains are interesting because it forces the story to present an issue in shades of gray and grey, rather than pure black and white. But what makes them interesting is that they need to have some grounds to stand on.

Daisy from Bioshock Infinite, Amon from The Legend of Korra, and Sunday from Honkai: Star Rail all had a point in their motivations. It was hard to think they're completely in the wrong. With Daisy and Amon, it felt like the writers realized this and made them irredeemably evil rather than try to write their way out of this moral quandary. In Maruki's case, I felt like the Sumire brainwashing was his version of Daisy murdering a child. Except...the game never seems to condemn him too much for this. In fact, the framing of the narrative and the characters' dialogue felt like the game was railroading you into thinking Maruki is just a misguided friend. But it was impossible for me to sympathize with him and think he's in the right in any way when Sumire seemed like a textbook example of "Hey, actualization is wrong."

persona 5 royal sumire and joker showtime
Image via Atlus

Beyond Maruki, something that bothers me about Persona 5 Royal is what Atlus did (and didn't do) for Sumire's personality and design. As a character, Sumire is fine. But my feelings about Sumire never extend beyond how I feel about Haru. They're both inoffensively pleasant and sweet, with enough depth that I know their basic goals and motivations, but not enough that I can connect with them like I can with Ann or Yusuke. The game did not dedicate nearly enough time to them and this is likely due to the lack of fluff in Persona 5.

Haru did get more scenes and chances at characterization in Royal, and I don't mind her social link as much as I disliked Makoto's. But I wish we got to spend more time with her as a person before the Phantom Thieves' situation became so dire that Shido and Yaldabaoth took up the story. It's the same thing with Sumire. In Sumire's case, she doesn't even have as many Confidant levels and spin-offs to explore who she really is without Kasumi's mask.

Even worse is her Phantom Thief outfit. When we only knew what she looks like as Violet, some people theorized that Persona 5 Royal would be like Persona 3 Portable and let you play as a girl. That's how similar her outfit is to Joker's. Though the game does kind of give an in-story explanation as to why they look like each other, I don't understand why Sumire can't have gotten another outfit after she regains her true self. Even in the Metaverse, we can't see who Sumire really is as a person because her spirit of rebellion takes cues from some dude. Is that power limited to Wild Cards or something?

To this day, I believe Sumire should've gotten a new thief outfit (with the option to switch back to her original black one). As well, Cendrillon should've turned into Vanadis after she recovers her true identity and then Vanadis can evolve to Ella after maxing out the Faith Confidant. Her story is fraught with identity issues, so you'd figure that a Persona system focused on one's true self would eat that right up. Alas, justice for Sumire. She deserved better if Atlus isn't going to do anything with her in spin-offs.

Persona 5 Royal is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
