The aftermath of the apocalypse is a familiar playground to anyone who plays games nowadays. Over the course of the last decade and a half, it's become the de facto setting of many prestige AAA titles, such as PlayStation's esteemed The Last of Us series, as well as indie games like Stray. One of my favorite things The Pokémon Company has done is aim to create at least some merch for every pocket monster.      Demolish and Build 3 is a building game in reverse, and it's out now

As gratifying as it can be to carefully construct buildings in games like Rust or Valheim and entire cities in Cities Skylines 2 or Frostpunk 2, there's a different, more immediate kind of enjoyment that comes from smashing those structures apart. Games like Red Faction Guerrilla, Just Cause 4, and Teardown understand this. So, too, does Demolish and Build 3, a new demolition company simulator that lets players use machines and tools to break down buildings that's just launched on Steam.

Dead by Daylight is a game filled with big-name horror licenses, including the Alien from Alien, Chucky from Child's Play, Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Sadako from The Ring.      Payday 3 director steps away as heist FPS continues to struggle

Payday 3 has had a hard time since launching a year ago this month. After the massive success of Payday 2, which stands as an all-time favorite co-op game alongside projects like Dead by Daylight, Left 4 Dead 2, and Rainbow Six Siege, the follow up debuted to a considerably subdued reaction, players disappointed by a lack of modes, maps, and general stability in comparison to what came before. Now, Payday 3 looks to be getting something of a fresh start as it prepares to head into its second year. The game's official X (formerly Twitter) account has just announced that its current director is departing the role, with two new team members stepping in to fill his spot.

AMD's new ray tracing tech is in the PS5 Pro before its own PC GPUs

Sony claims that the new AMD GPU in the PS5 Pro has ray tracing capabilities that aren't found in AMD's current PC graphics cards, implying that the new console has at least some of the new RDNA 4 GPU architecture in its innards. AMD's current GPUs are all based on the company's current RDNA 3 GPU architecture, and it looks as though the new PlayStation has beaten the PC to AMD's next-gen ray tracing tech.

While you can certainly find some of the latest AMD GPUs among the best graphics card models right now, we've found that they struggle with ray tracing when compared to their Nvidia counterparts. However, AMD RDNA 4 ray tracing has long been rumored to take a different approach, potentially enabling AMD to catch up with Nvidia.

AMD has just quietly unveiled its newest laptop GPU, the Radeon RX 7800M, and despite it having specs that should make anyone interested in a gaming laptop sit up and pay attention, AMD apparently didn't tell anyone. Instead, the new AMD gaming laptop GPU just appeared on its website.

Nvidia and AMD now have a new gaming GPU rival from China

After years of dominance over PC gamers, there's potentially a new rival to Nvidia and AMD in town. The upcoming Loongson 9A2000 graphics card is launching in China with up to ten times faster performance than the 9A1000 it's replacing. That sounds good, but the devil is always in the detail, and there's a catch here.

That's because, according to reports, the Loongson 9A2000 is comparable in performance to an RTX 2080, Nvidia's former flagship card from two generations ago that launched back in 2018. Gaming has moved on a long way since then, so a card with similar performance isn't likely to appeal today unless it's very cheap. It's certainly not going to challenge the best graphics cards out there from Nvidia today, especially as the 9A2000 lacks support for DirectX 12.

September 11, 2024: We've checked for new Murder Mystery 2 codes.

What are the newest Murder Mystery codes? Roblox games rarely throw up an intense experience as is offered by MM2, a game where you could be saddled with one of three roles; the murderer, a bystander, or the sheriff. I used up all the mushroom lore I've ever gleaned from real-life foraging when I wrote about Morels 2, and I spent most of that article whining about unicorns. The best I can do as regards Shroom And Gloom is to say that these Shrooms do indeed look very Gloomy, possibly because some mad human has wandered into their warren and is now stabbing and eating them.

While Fujino is the more talented of the two, causing a complex in Kyomoto, the two eventually are drawn together and become close. Here is the English trailer for the anime adaptation of Look Back

Final Fantasy VII Tifa Bring Arts Figure Returns to US in October

Square Enix announced that it will bring the Final Fantasy VII Bring Arts figure of Tifa Lockhart, which is based on her original PSX FFVII appearance, to the US again in October 2024. The figure reappeared in Japan back in July 2024.

This time around, the figure costs $119.99. It is a fully-articulated one, like others in the Bring Arts line. People get two face plates with it and multiple hand parts so she can be posed to look like she is in the midst of a fight or more relaxed.

Square Enix also shared a gallery of images with us again, some of them even recreating certain poses from the game or pieces of key art. Her hands all are equipped with the Leather Gloves that are her default, starting weapon in the series.

It's been quite a while since we've seen this version of of the Final Fantasy VII Bring Arts Tifa figure. It originally debuted in 2023. The thing about the initial release is that it included an NFT with it. (The same happened with similar ones of Aerith Gainsborough and Cloud Strife.) However, both the new waves of these designs don't include the NFTs.

The Final Fantasy VII Tifa Bring Arts figure will return to the US in October 2024, following a Japanese rerelease in July 2024. You can find the original game on the PlayStation, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices. Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC, and FFVII Rebirth is on the PS5.

Piczle Cross: Rune Factory Is Another Picross-like Nonogram Game

There's a new Rune Factory game on the way, but this one is a Picross sort of nonogram puzzle one called Piczle Cross: Rune Factory. It will come to the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2025, and the Steam page is already live.

Piczle Cross: Rune Factory has aesthetics based on the most recent release, Rune Factory 5. That means the main protagonist avatars we see on-screen as we solve puzzles. It seems this one adds a new "battle" option for puzzles that involves fighting and "capturing" monsters. There will also be collage puzzles. When going through these, you need to complete an unspecified number of puzzles that are all parts of a greater whole. As you go through and unlock things, you can decorate your background.

A first trailer is already live for the game, so we can see what it will be like solving nonogram puzzles involving characters, creatures, crops, and monsters from Rune Factory.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuIU2Aw6bDM

This isn't the only Bokujou Monogatari game to join the Piczle Cross series. Back in February 2024, Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons debuted. That was inspired by the older farming games and involved piecing together puzzles to recreate characters, animals, and crops.

Piczle Cross: Rune Factory will come to the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in 2025.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Patch, PS5 Pro Support Coming

Capcom announced that Dragon's Dogma 2 will be compatible with the newly announced PS5 Pro Enhanced features. It also confirmed that a new patch will be released for the game on all platforms and discussed what we can expect from it in the near future.

Capcom didn't announce a release date for the new Dragon's Dogma 2 patch. It only said it will release soon on all platforms. The new update will improve CPU load, reduce crash frequency, and offer various other adjustments to the game.

As for Dragon's Dogma 2 PS5 Pro compatibility, the company hasn't offered details yet on how the enhanced features will change performance or fidelity for the game or when a patch with them will appear. More information about both the new Dragon's Dogma 2 multiplatform update and the PS5 Pro Enhanced exclusive features will appear in the future.

The last Dragon's Dogma 2 update released on June 27, 2024. It offered a variety of quality of life changes to the in-game storage system, as well as a variety of other changes and bug fixes. It isn't the only recent addition. A patch to fix the frequency of the Dragonsplague appeared in late April 2024 shortly after the game released.

Sony announced the PlayStation 5 Pro model on September 10, 2024. The new console model aims to narrow the gap between the performance and quality modes available in several console games by offering higher graphical fidelity using the newly revealed PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) AI upscaling, as well as offering an increase in framerate.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is readily available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC worldwide.

Honkai: Star Rail Trailblazer Edition PS5 Physical Copy Pre-orders Open at Retail

Best Buy started taking pre-orders for a Honkai: Star Rail Trailblazer Edition physical copy, ahead of the PS5 game's apparent March 31, 2025 retail release. It will cost $39.99 and include both in-game and real-world bonuses in addition to the copy of the game on a disc. So far, no other retailers have shared product listings for the game just yet.

The product listing doesn't note how much of the game is available on the disc. For example, we don't know if it only includes the 1.0 base game and all patches bringing it up to date would need to be downloaded as an update or if it will be up-to-date with a more recent version like 2.0. However, the announcement did give an idea of what kinds of items will be included.

In terms of physical items, there are five of them. You get the Honkai: Star Rail Trailblazer Edition physical copy, which includes a box and copy of the game on a PS5 disc, to start. There is also a PS5 postcard. Two holographic keychains are included. The teaser art offered a hint as to how those will look. One features Stelle with a Herta Space Station Wubbaboo and Astral Express conductor Pom-Pom. The other pairs Caelus with the Wubbaboo. (Due to the positioning on the art, it isn't possible to tell if Pom-Pom is with him as well.) The final physical bonus is a set of character cards. Only one is shown in the image, and it features the 2.0 Penacony character Acheron.

Here are the official photos of the box art and bonus items from the Best Buy product page:

As for the digital bonus, the product listing and art only references a "Game Redemption Code." The description for it noted "exclusive items." It is unknown if this means some sort of cosmetics or perhaps items and Stellar Jades.

Honkai: Star Rail is available on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices digitally now. The 2.5 update debuted on September 10, 2024, adding Feixiao as a playable character once it arrived. The Honkai: Star Rail Trailblazer Edition physical copy will apparently be at retail stores on March 31, 2025.

pikachu manhole cover nintendo museum

A Pikachu manhole cover (also known as Pokefuta or Poke Lids) will appear at the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto's Uji city. Nintendo will hold the museum's grand opening on October 2, 2024.

The Pokemon manhole cover at the Nintendo Museum features Pikachu, the mascot of the franchise. It looks like it's running forwards. Meanwhile, a Poke Ball and a Game Boy are visible behind it. Nintendo also shared a picture of The Pokemon Company COO Takato Utsunomiya and Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa standing in front of the Pokemon manhole with someone in a Pikachu costume.

This is not the only Pokemon manhole cover in Japan. Poke Lids is a project in which Nintendo and The Pokemon Company team up with various prefectures around Japan. These manholes are part of the Local Arts initiative. Not only do they depict Pokemon in different habitats, but they also show off the charming topography or locales in Japan.

There are already two Poke Lids in Uji City, and the Nintendo Museum one would mark the third. For reference, one of the other Uji manholes depicts Sinistcha and Poltchageist. The other one has Spinda and Scorbunny on it. You can check out all of the different manhole covers via the official Poke Lids website.

The Nintendo Museum will open its doors on October 2, 2024 and you can check out the Pikachu manhole cover there.

ironmouse vod

VTuber Ironmouse revealed that YouTube deleted her VOD channel after three copyright strikes. This happened while she was streaming on Twitch and she stated that she didn't want to dispute the strikes, since she didn't want to submit her personal information. [Thanks, Dexterto!]

Ironmouse was streaming as part of her Subathon when she commented that YouTube might delete her VOD channel. According to her explanation, VShojo tried to reach out to whoever filed the complaints to try and resolve it. However, even after VShojo contacted them, the person didn't reply. It appears that this was someone's attempt at doxxing Ironmouse. During this part of the stream, her chat was angry on her behalf and said it was a "scummy" thing to do. They also directed their anger at YouTube, as YouTube's policies regarding copyright claims caused this as well.

As of the time of writing, the IRONMOUSEVODS YouTube channel no longer exists. You can still watch archived streams and such on her Twitch, though. Ironmouse is trying to reinstate it and a legal team is helping her do so.

Ironmouse is an American VTuber who debuted in 2017. In 2020, she helped found agency VShojo. She is a very successful VTuber, having hit 2 million subscribers on Twitch in June 2024. Her streams generally consist of chatting, singing, gaming, showcases, and more.

You can follow Ironmouse on YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter. As she is actively working on getting back her VOD channel, it may return if she and her legal team are successful.

howl's moving castle 20th anniversary

Studio Ghibli showed off the first poster for the 20th anniversary of Howl's Moving Castle. A re-release of the film will appear in theaters from September 26, 2024. [Thanks, DiscussingFilm!]

https://twitter.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1833643226198098162

The poster shows Howl and Sophie standing with their backs to each other. Howl has black hair, so it seems like the poster expects you to have seen the movie already. In the background, we can see supporting characters like Markl and Turnip-Head.

Howl's Moving Castle came out in 2004 and loosely takes inspiration from Diana Wynne Jones's 1986 novel of the same name. It follows Sophie, a girl working in a hat shop. After a witch turns Sophie into a 90-year-old woman, she makes her way to Howl's moving castle to find a cure for her curse. The movie has strong anti-war sentiments and themes, as Miyazaki drew influence from the rage he felt about the Iraq war. It was one of the most commercially successful Japanese films in history, as it made over $190 million in Japan and $236 million worldwide.

The 20th anniversary showing of Howl's Moving Castle will appear in select theaters from September 26 to October 3, 2024. You'll need to check your local theaters to see if it's available there. For those who want to watch other Studio Ghibli films, Netflix will be getting The Boy and the Heron and Grave of the Fireflies.
