Space game Moon Mystery is no Starfield clone, it's actually so much more

While Cosmoscouts - the small indie dev team behind Moon Mystery - is thrilled with comparisons to Starfield, it's perhaps an easy connection to make. Since Starfield arrived, most any space game now has parallels drawn to the Bethesda hit, when, in fact, it's important to judge new space games on their own merit.

Cyberpunk parkour hit Ghostrunner 2 gets final DLC one year after launch

2023 was a heck of a year for games - we had Baldur's Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, Starfield, and plenty more.      Sintopia is Cities Skylines 2 meets Black and White, in hell

One of my favorite TV shows ever made is Hazbin Hotel. Revolving around a merry band of misfits who are valiantly trying to entice sinners into a Twilight Zone Tower of Terror-style 1920s hotel so that they can be redeemed and sent to heaven, its devilish charm and iconic soundtrack is just to die for. While Team 17's newly announced city builder Sintopia extends a little bit beyond hotel management, it immediately put me in mind of Charlie and co's playful (and vaguely violent) adventures, and as a result it immediately found a spot on my wishlist.

All Dragon Age The Veilguard races and lineages

What are all the Dragon Age Veilguard races? Otherwise known as lineages, each playable race forms the basis of your Rook's appearance. Whether you prefer the slender grace of an elf or the stout strength of a dwarf, whatever choice you make in character creation cannot be undone, and will define Veilguard's protagonist across your playthrough.

However, it's not all about aesthetics. The race you choose in Dragon Age The Veilguard is as much a part of Rook's identity as their Dragon Age class or faction, and their lineage can affect certain dialogue choices in Bioware's RPG game. Depending on the circumstances, Rook might be deemed the ideal race relations negotiator or a meddling outsider. Equally, they might empathize with Dragon Age Veilguard companions who share their racial background, furthering the chances of a Dragon Age Veilguard romance. Whether you're swayed by aesthetics or lore, here are all the playable races in DA:V.

A new Steam Deck competitor is coming, promises to

Quirky tech manufacturer Ayaneo has just released a teaser for a new device, which it modestly says is set to "redefine" the experience of handheld gaming. According to the teaser video, the new Ayaneo 3 is codenamed Revo, which is short for "revolution." We're then given a few glimpses of the device, although we have to say, none of it looks particularly revolutionary at the moment.

The manufacturer has form for innovation in the portable gaming market, though, with the Ayaneo Slide featuring a physical keyboard under the screen, for example, and the Ayaneo AG01 Graphics Starship upgrading your laptop to an external AMD Radeon GPU, while looking like a retro toy spaceship. Maybe there's something we're not seeing in the teaser that will help the new Ayaneo device take the fight to the Steam Deck in the battle to make the best gaming handheld.

Best Metroidvania games to play in 2024

What are the best Metroidvania games on PC? With mechanics that have spread to all genres, few games beat a sprawling Metroidvania. Mostly 2D with some straightforward combat, tricky platforming, and light RPG mechanics, a Metroidvania demands you use all the abilities at your disposal to explore castles, alien-infested planets, whimsical forests, and so on.

Nintendo's Super Metroid and Konami's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night popularized the Metroidvania, but the genre has come into its own since these inaugural titles. While many of the best Metroidvania PC games try to recapture the spirit of their forebears, others expand into new territories by incorporating mechanics from pinball and soulslikes. The result is a dynamic genre that offers a wealth of familiar and fresh experiences - some recent, many of them cheap, and a few of them some of the best PC games ever made.

Is a new dual-GPU AMD Radeon card coming? This image suggests it's possible

A picture of a new chip has surfaced on social media, which looks as though it could be a design for a new dual-GPU AMD Radeon graphics card. The image is unlike any recent AMD chip, with two identically-sized chiplets sitting side by side, but no I/O chip, which you would expect on a CPU, and no small Infinity Cache chips, which you would expect on a GPU.

The AMD RDNA 4 release is now set for 2025, but this new lineup of GPUs was expected to be monolithic, meaning the GPU is all based on one chip, rather than multiple chiplets. However, AMD certainly has the technology to make chip packages containing more than one GPU, as it's demonstrated with its CDNA 2 data center chip tech. What's more, AMD recently announced that it's now unifying RDNA and CDNA, so its gaming and data center chips will use the same core architecture. If AMD could build a new Radeon GPU with this tech, it could possibly make the best graphics card ever.

How much have I spent on LoL?

30/10/2024 The Riot support page for finding money spent is still showing as 'under construction'. We will update this page once it is back up and running. Fortunately, there is an alternative Riot support ticket method that only takes a couple of extra clicks - a method we've also outlined below.

How do you see how much you have spent on League of Legends? Riot Games' hugely successful MOBA is technically a free game, but if you ask any avid fan if that's the case, you'll no doubt receive a wry laugh in response. The champion pool is diverse and wonderful; each character can be purchased with currency earned while playing. Premium cosmetics, however, are bought with real-world money.

These League of Legends skins and other cosmetics can be purchased directly using an in-game currency called RP. RP itself, though, must be purchased with your hard-earned cash. LoL skins change the base look of the character you're playing, with premium cosmetics adding new effects, voice lines, and animations. Then there's the battle pass that can be bought using RP, too. So, while League of Legends is technically one of the best free PC games around, you can see just how easily it can sway you into parting with your money. This guide will give you the information needed to find out exactly how much you've spent in League of Legends - you just might not like the answer when you get it.

One of my favourite satires is the Screwtape Letters, an epistolary novel by Narnia scribe C.S. Lewis. It consists of messages from an oily elder demon to his nephew about how to correctly groom the soul of an unsuspecting human being. It's a claustrophobic send-up of managerial politics and nepotism, with World War 1 unfolding in the background. A real pick-me-up. Sintopia is the Two Point incarnation of that premise - in other words, brighter and breezier and definitely more slapstick than Christian. It puts you in charge of a world divided between Earth and hell, and challenges you to ensure a steady movement of optimally sinful souls between one and the other. Say your prayers and watch the trailer.

I never completed the original Red Dead Redemption, but not for the usual reasons of being terrible at the game, or thinking that open worlds are too big and boring these days and I just want to lie down forever and watch anime. I never finished it because my Xbox 360 version was not, in practice, an open world game, but a lonely farm at the bottom of a vortex of butchered spacetime. In the prologue, reformed outlaw John Marston confronts an old bandit acquaintance and gets himself roundly shot to bits. He's rescued by local rancher Bonnie MacFarlane, who nurses him back to health and gives him a few odd jobs to warm him up for the next plot point.

Classic god sims like Populous and Black & White teach that deities love to reach their horrible holy hands into our world and mess with us directly. They teach us to see 1-1 divine intervention in every random house fire and every lightning bolt that miraculously strikes our enemies. By contrast, the forthcoming Zero Orders Tactics teaches that god prefers to operate via covert means, because after all, personally lobbing some electricity at somebody would be inelegant. It's far more graceful to trap them behind a mountain, instead.

While the Lenovo Legion Go is not a Steam Deck, it basically acts like one the second you download Steam and enter Big Picture Mode. Installing it on the handheld gaming PC is incredibly easy. Download the executable and go. You're golden. It immediately adapts to the controllers. It's the first thing you should do after getting the device unpacked.

Make sure you grab Epic Games Store too for your Lenovo Legion Go too!

While Epic Games Store isn't going to look as pretty on the Lenovo Legion Go as Steam does with Big Picture Mode, it's absolutely fine. Plus, you should have a nice game library filled with compatible titles if you've been claiming the weekly free games from the service every Thursday. Like Steam, it is as simple as going to the official site and grabbing the download file. I had no issues installing and navigating it, and I doubt you will either.

GOG Galaxy is something to consider.

Like Epic Games Store, GOG Galaxy isn't going to look the absolute prettiest on a Lenovo Legion Go as Steam. It's designed with a larger monitor in mind. But again, it works very well once installed, and getting it done is easy. Plus, considering the compatibility strives with this storefront, it's reassuring to know how easy it will be to get it all working together once you grab it from the site and set it up. Again, it's fairly effortless and a swift process.

If you use Itch.io, that'd be a wise one to grab.

Itch.io is one of those storefronts that maybe you don't use all that often. If you really get into indie games though, odds are you're at least aware of it. And if you support charitable bundles for good causes, I guarantee you have. So… getting the app could be smart! I will note that this was the only install that was a bit weird for me during the setup process. I had to actually redownload the launcher, because the first install didn't actually want to work for some reason. But on the second try, I made it work and it was fine.

The HoYoPlay launcher isn't a bad idea for the Lenovo Legion Go, honestly.

So when it comes to HoYoVerse free-to-play games, you aren't just downloading one title. You download the HoYoPlay launcher, then get the game from that. Given the range of the free-to-play titles and how well they all work on the Lenovo Legion Go, I suggest grabbing HoYoPlay too. Install Genshin Impact if you want an open-world, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sort of RPG experience. Pick up Honkai: Star Rail if you'd like another turn-based RPG. Honkai Impact 3rd and Zenless Zone Zero are good if you want beat'em up experiences where you're pretty much just in it for the fight.

Valis I II and III PC Engine games appear on Steam

Edia has released the first three Valis PC Engine games on Steam. People can now buy and play Valis: The Fantasm Soldier, Valis II, and Valis III in Japanese and English on the popular PC gaming platform.

There are some catches on the new Steam releases, though. The primary Steam page hosts the Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection Launcher, which is free to download and open. But if one were to only download the launcher, they would not be able to access any content beyond the main menu. This is because the games are only available as paid DLC for the launcher, and they cost $5.99 individually.

The games are not the only accessible content in this collection. Edia is also separately selling the compilation's digital soundtrack at $5.99 and digital artbook, which costs a bit more at $7.99.

The Steam release marks a new phase in Edia's efforts to bring the classic Valis games to more recent platforms. The company first released the compilation on Nintendo Switch. It has also released the second and third compilations that brought in titles from more classic platforms like the Mega Drive (Sega Genesis) and Family Computer (NES). It remains to be seen whether Edia will also bring the latter compilations to Steam or not.

Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection is now available on PC via Steam. The PC Engine game compilation is also accessible on Nintendo Switch.

Crow Country Is a Perfect Switch Game to Play on Halloween

We talked about how much we loved Crow Country before, as it is essentially SFB Games' love letter to classic PS1 horror games along the lines of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. However, now that the Switch and PS4 versions appeared and the Halloween season is upon us, I had to return to it once again. The thing is, now that I did go through it, everything about the Switch version of Crow Country made me realize what a perfect horror game it is for all audiences this Halloween. Or really, for any platform when it comes down to it.

Mara Forest is a woman bound for the abandoned Crow Country amusement park in search of answers. Where is its owner, Edward Crow? What's going on at the remnants of the attraction? Can we survive its horrors? It very much feels like the sorts of titles we saw in that era of gaming, minus some of the clunky control schemes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLlbh8iCvP0&ab_channel=SFBGames

The first thing that struck me about Crow Country and left me thinking it was the sort of Switch addition anyone could enjoy, even if they aren't a fan of horror games, is the available modes at the outset. Survival Horror is its purest form and the one that will call to mind Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Every shot will matter. You won't want to make mistakes. You'll need to be careful. However, it was the other two options that really felt designed to help appeal to absolutely everyone. Those concerned about it not feeling difficult enough would have a Murder of Crows hard mode that means you can't waste any of your bullets, Mara and your life will be in danger, and every encounter is a serious threat. I tried that out before really getting into things, and it's a lot. However, there's also an Exploration Mode that is more about the aesthetic and adventure, omitting violent, life-threatening encounters.

That aesthetic also helps ensure Crow Country appeals to a wider audience. It is designed to be dark and eerie, with fog in the air and unsettling mascots. We'll see blood. Odd entities that are unsettling appear. However, the execution and design mean that it feels more atmospheric and less uncanny valley horrifying. There's a challenge to be had here, you'll need to force Mara to touch or do things that are gross to get quest items, and it is unnerving. But because of the design direction, it's possible to be detached and appreciate it even if you aren't as comfortable with horror games.

Crow Country Is a Perfect Switch Game to Play on Halloween
Screenshot by Siliconera

I also felt Crow Country was a great Switch fix because even though it is a horror game, it sort of feels like that is secondary to going through an adventure filled with puzzles. We're trying to solve a mystery! It's like Scooby Doo, but with guns and death being an actual possibility. Mara is even downright funny with her quips. I never thought I'd say this about a horror game, but it's great at making you feel comfortable.

I really liked getting cozy with Crow Country on the Switch, getting settled under some blankets, and dealing with puzzles in one of the most unsettling amusement parks. It runs perfectly on the handheld. The brevity of the adventure makes it an ideal fit for some portable play sessions. It's just a fun pick to enjoy during the Halloween season.

Crow Country is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

Death Note Killer Within Is an Online-Only Multiplayer Game

Earlier in October 2024, ratings showed up for a Death Note game from Bandai Namco, and now Steam product page is live for the online-only multiplayer game Death Note: Killer Within. The Bandai Namco and Grounding title will launch on November 5, 2024, and we'll see it on the PS4, PS5, and PC.

Death Note: Killer Within will be a game like Among Us and Werewolf, in which there are actually two teams competing. Up to 10 people can take part. If you are working alongside L, your goal is to get the Death Note away from Kira and expose their agents. In the case of Kira members, they need to wipe out L and get the Death Note. If a Kira agent finds the Death Note, they can select a target and condition to eliminate them. Incidents can be reported, testimony can be collected, and at meetings people can vote for which character they think is Kira.

Here's a trailer, showing off gameplay for the title. The perspective almost makes it look like Light and L are supposed to be playing a game on the board with players as pieces.

Here are the first screenshots, which show some of the cosmetics available in the game.

Claim Your Palworld Halloween Pal Skins Costumes

Pocketpair announced all Palworld players will get four free Pal costume skins for Halloween 2024. These are completely free, and all people need to do to claim them is log into the game.

However, these Halloween costumes are for specific Pals, so you can't use them if you haven't caught them in Palworld. The options are Halloween Cattiva, Halloween Croajiro, Pirate Pengullet, and Spectacled Katress. Cattiva and Pengullet are both incredibly common Pals that can also be found in Common Eggs and Damp Eggs, respectively. Croajiro and Katress might prove a bit more difficult. That's because Croajiro showed up only after the Sakurajima update, and you'd need a Huge Damp Egg for a chance of hatching one. Meanwhile, Katress can only be found either at night or at Sealed Realm of the Invincible.

Here's the official trailer announcing the Palworld Halloween Pal skins that let the characters dress up in costumes or wear seasonal accessories.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs4EufC8Nb4&ab_channel=Pocketpair

And here's a gallery offering a closer look at all four of the designs.

The lastPal skins were released as Twitch Drop rewards. Those started showing up in August 2024 for select characters.

Palworld is available in Early Access on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. The Halloween skins are being given away for free now.

There is no game that sticks with me to this day in an unsettling manner as much as Saya no Uta. Also known by its English name, The Song of Saya, this unforgettable visual novel still remains to this day the most horrifying game I've ever played. If you're looking for a horror game that will truly keep you up at night this spooky season, this is the one to play.

Despite playing Saya no Uta for the first time well over a decade ago (at the time of writing), its riveting and shocking storyline still haunts me to this day. Without spoiling much, the story begins with a man who ends up in an accident. This messes with his vision and causes him to perceive the entire world as this fleshy, Scorn-like disgusting place.

Saya no Uta Song of Saya

The protagonist's accident even makes humans appear as these terrifying, grotesque monsters. As you might expect, this leads the protagonist to madness. That is, until he stumbles upon a girl who looks surprisingly normal named Saya. From there, the story descends into utter hell, both in the nightmarish visuals and the actual writing.

To an extent, this visual novel feels like everything it does is purely for shock value. Name a terrible crime or sin and it probably happens in extremely detailed fashion over the course of this story. And the wildest part is it isn't even that long. I think it took me about three hours in total to get through Saya no Uta from start to finish.

Even though it is so short, I couldn't stomach more than 30 minutes at the time when I played it. This is not the type of experience to binge. That is why it took me just over a week of playing for about 30 minutes each day to finish this visual novel when I first played it. Unlike other horror games, I couldn't exist in that world for too long.

My method of breaking up Saya no Uta over a week ended up being a mistake, too. There wasn't a single night I went to sleep without a nightmare due to playing this just before bed. No other horror game gave me this many consistent nightmares in a row. And that is all before considering the actual quality of the experience.

Image via Nitroplus

While the art and story are spectacularly horrifying at times, it left a surprising mark on me by the end. The conclusion of Saya no Uta is oddly beautiful in a way with the shocking commentary it has. I could spend a whole article's worth of time just dissecting the finale and the intriguing direction the plot goes in. In a way, this is the necessary evil of visual novels. Every visual novel fan should fight through the madness to the end if they can.

After all, this is the most horrifying and haunting game I've ever played. Admittedly, I'm not the horror aficionado. This is far from my best and favorite genre in games. But even the genre giants and spooky games I've played don't even come close to this experience. Titles like Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil 7, Slender, Amnesia, The Evil Within, Phasmaphobia, and so on didn't terrify me how this game has. If you like visual novels and horror, and even if you are like me and don't prefer scary games, Saya no Uta is the ultimate marriage of the two everyone should try.

Saya no Uta is available right now for PC.

Donjara Neo Sanrio Characters board game

Bandai revealed a new board game like Mahjong that will feature Sanrio's popular mascots. The board game will be titled Donjara Neo: Sanrio Characters, and the company will release it in early November 2024 in Japan. It will cost 5,280 yen (~$34.45). [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

This new board game will play very similarly to regular Mahjong. However, the tiles will feature popular Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Bad Badtz-Maru, and Keroppi. The package will contain a total of 84 tiles that feature these mascots. The board game will support two to four players.

Bandai has also shared a list of possible winning combinations that can reward in-game money using the coins provided in the package. For example, completing three-of-a-kind hands of Cinnamoroll, Pochacco, and Pompompurin tiles will result in a Wonderful Set win, which is worth 480,000 Jara Coins.

The Donjara Neo: Sanrio Characters board game will be available in Japan on November 9, 2024.

Tales of Gracs f Remastered

With the Tales of series celebrating it's 30th anniversary, Bandai Namco has chosen from it's wide selection of titles to bring a Tales of Graces remaster to modern consoles and PC. But Tales of Graces f Remastered does more than that, as it offers multiple quality of life features and the inclusion of content that was previously limited to Japan. But does it hold up? And is it worth jumping into a title that feels so utterly divorced from what the Tales of series is today — at least in terms of gameplay.

Bandai Namco revealed it would be bringing numerous quality of life changes to Tales of Graces f Remastered, providing a fairly comprehensive list in August 2024. And while it's easy to take that at face value, you never really understand how impactful these can be until you see them in practice.

The developers of the Tales of series have continued to place an emphasis on narrative, and their characters, more or less making this a focal point for the games themselves. So it seems natural that Tales of Graces f Remastered will allow you to turn off battle encounters. During my period with the game, I didn't make use of it but saw the value in the function as I traveled back and forth from my objective to the nearest locale to sell items and turn in requests — these function as smaller side quests that reward you with currency and items, which help you stockpile resources to upgrade your weapons and armor.

Image via Bandai Namco

I had forgotten how complex these systems could be in earlier Tales of games, or how unwieldly the controls were. But the muscle memory from the hours of Tales of Symphonia I played kicked in after about half an hour as I finetuned the A.I. for my companions. I remembered I needed to move in the direction enemies were relative to my character on the screen and tilt my thumbstick in any of the four cardinal directions to execute specific attacks. While not the most intuitive, the combat is still satisfying, especially when factoring how you can control your party members or weave using items in and out of more sticky situations.

The developers also made consideration for players that may have already gone through Tales of Graces f on either the Wii or the PlayStation 3. Skits can be skipped and you will even be able to skip the "child" stage of the story if you've seen that song and dance before. This makes the game more accommodating for additional playthroughs. That said, I do have to agree with the developers when it comes to the story and characters being the driving force of any Tales of game, and Tales of Grades f Remastered is no exception.

Image via Bandai Namco

I loved hearing characters chat after combat, and I loved the way the skits extrapolated on events I had more or less jumped into during the preview session, or just how the characters would share things about themselves. It made me realize how much I missed the old Tales of formula. Tales of Arise was fine and all, but the previous Tales of entries just had that extra something that made them feel very much their own. And at the end of the day, it's great that his remaster is going to make it to modern consoles with all of the content that was previously exclusive to Japan attached.

Honestly, I found what I played of Tales of Graces f Remastered enjoyable. If this is the first effort of Bandai Namco from bringing more series to modern consoles and PC, I'm interested to see what else they'll bring and how they'll be handling those releases going forward. And if the new audience gained from Tales of Arise will love these titles just as much as the rest of us.

Tales of Graces f Remastered will come out on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC on January 17, 2025.

One of the most important things a long running series can do is evolve. Sometimes this is gradual, which Resident Evil successfully did. However, Resident Evil has also been known for wild massive overhauls as well. The transition from Resident Evil 6 to Resident Evil 7 was one of the most significant and impactful shifts in the survival horror genre. Rejuvenating a series that had started to drift away from its roots.

This change wasn't without precedent. Resident Evil has a history of evolving its gameplay to keep up with the times. Before Resident Evil 4, the series had relied on tank controls and fixed camera angles in its early entries. While effective at creating tension, had begun to feel outdated as gaming technology advanced.

When Resident Evil 4 launched, it redefined the franchise with its over-the-shoulder third-person perspective. This change made the game feel more fluid and action-oriented. Players could aim precisely, move with more freedom, and engage with enemies in a more dynamic way. The shift was a massive success, not only impacting the Resident Evil series but the industry as a whole. Resident Evil 4's approach influenced countless games, like Gears of War and nearly every third-person shooter that followed, setting a new standard for how action games were designed.

Resident Evil 4 Platinum Titles
Image via Capcom

However, by the time Resident Evil 6 arrived, the formula had shifted too far toward bombastic action. The game felt more like a high-octane shooter than a true survival horror experience. There were large-scale set pieces, relentless firefights, and explosions at every turn. While some players, including myself, find things to appreciate in Resident Evil 6—the varied campaigns, the fluid combat, and the sprawling content—it's hard to argue that the game retained much of the series' original horror DNA.

Instead of genuine terror, the scares were replaced by action, which came at the expense of tension and atmosphere. Even Resident Evil 4, while iconic, leaned more into action, offering Goosebumps-level scares rather than anything deeply terrifying.

With Resident Evil 7, Capcom recognized that it was time for a major shift, returning to what made the series special in the first place. The studio made the bold decision to move the game to a first-person perspective. This move that seemed to draw inspiration from the atmosphere and style of P.T., the legendary horror teaser for the canceled Silent Hills. This first-person perspective immediately made the game feel more intimate and claustrophobic, amplifying the sense of dread that defined the early Resident Evil games.

Resident Evil 7 also brought back the emphasis on survival horror, with a tense and genuinely terrifying setting. A rundown plantation in the heart of the swamps. The Baker family's estate felt like a living, breathing nightmare. A place where every creaky floorboard or shadowy corner could hide something dreadful.

The Bakers themselves were an unforgettable addition to the series, each member representing a different kind of terror. The patriarch, Jack Baker, especially stood out with his relentless pursuit of the player. This also introduced an overhauled stalker mechanic that made every encounter feel like a fight for survival. The way Jack would burst through walls or calmly taunt the player before lunging into a deadly chase was reminiscent of classic Resident Evil enemies like Mr. X, but with a new, more personal twist.

The marketing for Resident Evil 7 also played a crucial role in building its eerie atmosphere. The cryptic trailers and multiple demos like the "Beginning Hour" kept fans guessing about the nature of the game. This created a sense of anticipation and unease long before players even set foot in the Baker family's home.

Another significant change in Resident Evil 7 was the introduction of a new protagonist, Ethan Winters. Rather than bringing back series veterans like Chris Redfield or Leon Kennedy, the game chose to focus on Ethan. He's just a regular guy drawn into the horrors of the Baker estate while searching for his missing wife, Mia. This decision further grounded the game's horror, as players saw the nightmare unfold through the eyes of someone without the combat experience of a trained agent. And while Resident Evil 7 initially felt like a departure from the series' ongoing narrative, by the end, it became clear that it was the next chapter in the story, rather than a total reboot. There were enough connections to the broader Resident Evil lore to satisfy long-time fans, while still being accessible to newcomers.

While Resident Evil Village built upon the foundation of Resident Evil 7 with more action and a larger scope, the impact of Resident Evil 7 remains unmatched. The fear, the isolation, and the slower pace made Resident Evil 7 a return to form for the series. A reminder of the kind of white-knuckle survival horror that put the franchise on the map in the first place. Village did refined some of 7's rougher edges, offering a more varied experience with a blend of action and horror. However, Resident Evil 7 is the game that I find myself thinking about more often. It's a game that redefined what Resident Evil could be, proving that even after decades, the series still had the power to surprise, and terrify, its audience.

Resident Evil 7 is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, and through the cloud on Switch.
