The Apex Legends team posted an update blaming Linux for a high proportion of "impactful exploits and cheats", leading to this drastic action being taken. The Steam Deck is still the best handheld gaming PC, but the recent loss from the platform of multiple EA games with online features can't be ignored. In an official statement, the Crusader Kings, Stellaris, and CS2 publisher explains that an "outside actor" updated the mod, simply named 'Traffic,' and that the update seemingly contained a file that could compromise the security of players' PCs. Paradox says that it has already removed the file in question, but that if Cities Skylines 2 had their mods set to 'synced,' and therefore received the potentially malicious file automatically, there is a possibility that it may be present on their systems. Incredibly intricate and detailed, as well as being obscenely impractical for the most part. I do not like any of them in the sense I would wear them, but I like all of them in the sense that they display artists allowed to run free like caffeinated weasels and indulge their every whim. |

Square Enix announced the official release date for FFXIV patch 7.1 during the Letter from the Producer Live 84 showcase. On November 12, 2024, the update that also adds a FFXI crossover appears. There is also a new "Crossroads" trailer to watch going over all of the new additions.
First, here's the FFXIV patch 7.1 "Crossroads" trailer. It begins with an overview of some of the locations that will be notable in the new version. After that, we get teasers of main scenario quests. There are some spoilers in that section, if you haven't kept up with FFXIV and the Dawntrail MSQs. Once the 1:30 mark arrives, we start to see the FFXI content coming to FFXIV, new raids and other additions. Just before the three minute mark, things end with us getting to see Ryne and Gaia reunite.
We got an idea about things we'll see once the release date for FFXIV patch 7.1 arrives in October 2024. Square Enix shared an updated site with details about "Crossroads." In addition to the new MSQ missions, we'll be able to aid the Pelupelu with Allied Society Quests, perform Custom Deliveries for the Nitowikwe, perform more Wachumequimeqi quests, and go on Inconceivably Further Hildebrand Adventures. All the new dungeons and raids came up too. Right away, we'll have Echoes of Vana'diel - Jeuno: The First Walk, The Jade Stoa (Unreal), The Minstrel's Ballad: Sphene's Burden, and Yuweyawata Field Station. In 7.11, Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) will appear. And in 7.15, there will be The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic).
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Dawntrail expansion is available on all platforms. The release date for FFXIV patch 7.1 is November 12, 2024.

Koei Tecmo has confirmed the full release date for Venus Vacation Prism - Dead or Alive Xtreme. The company will release the new dating simulator game in Japan and Asia on March 6, 2025. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
In addition, the company has also revealed Nanami as the sixth and last character in the game's roster. Nanami originally appeared in the Japanese version of the Venus Vacation free-to-play game in April 2021 and the Asian English version in April 2022, with Miyuri Shimabukuro providing her Japanese voiceovers. She will be available as a dateable heroine besides Misaki, Fiona, Elise, Tamaki, and Honoka in this game.
People who have pre-ordered Venus Vacation Prism will be able to get Plumeria hair ornaments for each character on release. Those who purchase the game early before March 19, 2025, can also get a set of outfits known as Qipao in the Japanese version and Cheongsam in the English version.
Koei Tecmo is also collaborating with the illustrator Yom to provide additional content for the game. Each of the six heroines will get a bonus outfit and story episode included in the Digital Deluxe Edition. The company will also release a physical Special Collection Box that contains a desk mat with Yom's illustrations and a dakimakura cover featuring Nanami.
Koei Tecmo has also published the first official trailer for Venus Vacation Prism. An English version of the trailer is also available from the company's Taiwanese channel:
Even though Venus Vacation Prism also has an English release, it appears to be geo-locked to select Asian countries and territories. Steam's database has indicated that the game will only be purchasable in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Venus Vacation Prism - Dead or Alive Xtreme will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and DMM Games in Southeast and East Asia including Japan on March 6, 2025.

Surging Sparks, the Pokemon Trading Card Game's latest physical expansion, has more to offer than just cover star Pikachu. Here are some cards from the set that drew our eye, organized by why you might care!
The coolest Surging Sparks cards
Much like the creature itself, the card for Tera Tatsugiri ex offers a lot but looks on the surface like not very much. Its three-energy attack, Cinnabar Lure, seems like a simple search: look at the top ten cards of your deck and put Pokemon there on your bench. But hey, that can be any Pokemon, no matter the evolution stage.
And it may just be vibes-based for us, but we think the new Bruxish is pretty cool. With 110 HP and an ability that deals 30 damage back every time it's hit, it's great as an early-game stall. We like adding a bit of indecision to our opponents' minds on turn one, setting us up to drive the game's narrative.
The most meta-relevant Surging Sparks cards
We're expecting to see a lot of use of Latias ex. The Skyliner ability removes retreat costs from Basics, enabling a lot of strategies with quick-switching or active-only abilities. Some trainers could make the cut, too. Tera Orb is an Item-level search for a Tera creature, so if any strategy emerges for one, it's a logical deck inclusion. Surfer is a two-in-one Supporter, switching out your Active and drawing cards while you do, making it good to draw almost always. Lisia's Appeal brings the tried-and-true effect of pulling an opponent into the active slot, with the kicker of also making them confused.
There are eight ACE SPEC additions in the new set, and at this point there's enough variety that only some stand out from the pack. Energy Search Pro lets you grab one of each Basic Energy type in one go, which seems appealing! Megaton Blower is a good counter to decks that rely on Special Energy, as it makes an opponent discard all of those in play, as well as Tool and Stadium cards. And Miracle Headset is a general-use reliable option, letting you retrieve two Supporters from your discard pile.
The most interesting Surging Sparks cards
We're wondering if the new Sylveon ex could be the centerpiece of a deck strategy. Its Tera attack, Angelite, lets you move two opponent bench fighters and all attachments back to the deck, and you can use it every second turn. You'd have to protect it — though 270 HP and a second attack that provides damage reduction is no slouch — but that could really shut down strategies that take a bit of build-up.
Similarly experimental is this set's Togekiss. As always, the effort to get a Stage 2 out is probably not worth the result, but the Wonder Kiss ability gives you a 50-percent shot at an extra prize for each knock-out. There's probably some fun shenanigans you could manage if you paired it with the 151 print of Chansey. If you want to get really weird, you can do that too. Tyme is out here making opponents guess HP.
The cutest Surging Sparks cards
After a few sets with a shallower card pool, it's nice to see Surging Sparks return with a lot of options for those looking for endearing little buddies. Marill and Togepi top our list, both in fields of grass and flowers but each bringing their own flavor of contentment to the proceedings. Tandemaus and Maushold are both hamming it up! And it's not a special art or anything, but Fuecoco just sitting there is enough for us. In terms of Illustrator Rares this time around, our favorite is Slakoth. The card's an empty field of grass with one li'l tired bud laid out in the middle. Relatable.
