But then I did a little research, as is my journalistic responsibility, and it turns out Urge's notions about piss - bladdergold, as they call it in the West Country, or Crusoe Cola, as it's known in the States - are rather in-depth. I'm still very glad I can't smell the game, but I definitely have the urge to play it. |

It seems Bandai Namco will be adding Hunter x Hunter figures of Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck to its SH Figuarts line. The company announced a program that seems like it will reveal both. It will only appear in Japanese on YouTube at 9:30am JST on December 4, 2024, which is 4:30pm PT/7:30pm ET on December 3, 2024.
At the moment, the announcement only features silhouettes of both of the Hunter x Hunter SH Figuarts figures, but the two shadows are clearly Gon and Killua. Both of their hairstyles are very distinctive. It appears they will be in their standard attire, as we can see Gon is wearing a long-sleeved outfit and Killua has a short-sleeved shirt over a longer top. The description for the video also features both Japanese and English text, suggesting the sort of worldwide release typical for SH Figuarts items.

There are currently no Hunter x Hunter SH Figuarts figures, so Gon and Killua will be the first. Many Shonen Jump series are a part of the line, such as Bleach, Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer, Dragon Ball, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Naruto. Recently, Dan Da Dan characters were confirmed as well.
The Hunter x Hunter manga has been updating at a more regular pace, following Yoshihiro Togashi's health issues. There was nearly a two year gap between chapters 400 and 401 as a result. Since then, the schedule is back to a weekly pace. Chapter 409 appeared on December 1, 2024, and chapter 410 is expected on December 8, 2024.
The Hunter x Hunter manga is available via Viz Media in Japan. The two SH Figuarts figures based on the series will be revealed on December 3, 2024.

Square Enix announced four new FFXIV Tales Under the New Moon short story installments, with the first one already available to read. The first new entry is "Whispers from the Dark" and stars Gaius van Baelsar and Lahabrea, and it features spoilers for the game. The full tale is now available on the official site alongside the four released in 2023.
As you can expect from the encounter, Lahabrea one again is the antagonist and came to meet and antagonize Gaius. He comes to offer him an opportunity. It's essentially offering insight into a part of the story in FFXIV that we know about from the MMORPG, but didn't see from these two characters' perspectives.
The Tales Under the New Moon stories first started appearing in 2023 in honor of the 10th anniversary of FFXIV. Each brief story focuses on major characters we've met in the MMORPG. While the first one featured Estinien, for example, subsequent ones starred folks like the twins Alphinaud and Alisaie or Thancred.

Final Fantasy XIV and its Dawntrail expansion are available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. FFXIV Mobile is also in development for mobile devices.

Back in 2023, Bushiroad announced a Chainsaw Man event for BanG Dream: Girls Band Party based on the anime and manga and its characters. Now, the crossover will finally appear worldwide. There's no exact date yet, but the December 1, 2024 social media announcement said it is "coming soon."
Since the event already appeared in the Japanese version of the game in June 2023, we know what it entails. There are two covers of songs from the anime. One is "Chainsaw Blood," which is performed by Afterglow. The other is "Fight Song," which is sung by Roselia.

As you play, you can also get versions of existing characters who are dressed up like cast members from the Chainsaw Man anime. The two we'll be able to earn are Morfonica's Rui as Aki and Poppin' Party's Rimi as Kobeni. If you go through the gacha, you can get Afterglow's Ran as Denji, Morfonica's Toko as Power, and Roselia's Sayo as Makima.
As for Chainsaw Man, we should get some news about what's next for the anime adaptations and manga soon. It will be part of Jump Festa 2025. Mappa is currently working on Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc, so an update on that seems likely.
BanG Dream: Girls Band Party is on mobile devices, and the Chainsaw Man event comes to the global version of the game "soon." The Chainsaw Man anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

FuRyu has revealed a new lineup of Kirby merchandise, titled Kirby Diary Obento. These items will appear as crane game prizes in Japanese amusement centers in late December 2024.
The collection will primarily consist of three item types. The first one will be a large plush of Kirby with a chef hat and a partially eaten onigiri. The second will be a sub-collection of mascot plushes featuring the likes of Kirby and Waddle Dee inside meal boxes. While there have also been more food-themed collaborations like Monaka cakes and Heinz ketchup pouches revealed in late 2024, neither the mascots nor the meal boxes in this lineup will be actually usable or edible, as all of them are being made with fluffy materials.
The third and last item type in the lineup will be stainless drink bottles that people can actually use to store water. There will be two variations of the bottles, with each of them featuring Kirby and Waddle Dee separately. The bottles will have an approximate size of around 17 cm (~6.69 inches).
The Kirby Diary Obento lineup will have its own separate category from FuRyu's prior Kirby-themed crane game prizes. The company has been gradually releasing merchandise based on Nintendo and HAL Laboratory's game franchise since August 2024.
The Kirby Diary Obento items will be available as prizes from crane games in amusement centers across Japan starting from the fourth week of December 2024.

Konami shared hints of things to come when it comes to Suikoden, as the opening movies for Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster are now live online. In each case, we get to see an animated movie highlighting major characters from the Suikoden installments, as well as locations and events.
First, here's the Suikoden 1 HD Remaster opening movie. It debuted on YouTube first. It begins with a look at the Soul Eater True Rune, which is the one held by Tir McDohl, the hero of the game. After that, we see Tir himself, followed by prominent Suikoden characters like Ted, Flik, Mathiu Silverberg, Pahn, Cleo, Viktor, and Gremio. We also see the castle town, antagonists, and a quick montage of portraits of the Stars of Destiny.
The Suikoden 2 HD Remaster opening movie appeared on YouTube a day later and follows the same format. Since Riou and Jowy's stories feature so prominently, the two of them appear first in the video. This is followed by images of their True Runes, the Bright Shield Rune and Black Sword Rune. After that, we see a village aflame, a prominent point in the story, and some major characters who aren't Stars of Destiny in Suikoden 2. Jillia Blight appears, as does her stepfather Agares Blight. At about the 1:30 mark, we start to see the Stars of Destiny show up, with Riou, Jowy, Nanami, and scenes featuring others interacting with each other.
Leading up to the rerelease of the games, we'll see more of these familiar faces. Konami is constantly sharing details about characters on social media. 108 will be revealed leading up to launch.
Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars is in development and the new PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch release date is March 6, 2025. The original games appeared on the PlayStation worldwide. They also appeared together in a collection on the PSP in Japan.

Sega has announced that it will add new anime crossover content from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End into Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (PSO2 New Genesis) in January 2025. Players of the online action RPG will be able to obtain avatar parts and weapon camouflages based on characters from the anime adaptation once the relevant scratch tickets have launched in the new year.
Sega regularly adds crossover content from multiple external manga, anime, and game franchises into PSO2: New Genesis. Prior examples include Shangri-La Frontier, Kaiju No. 8, and Melty Blood: Type Lumina. However, neither the late November NGS Headline program nor the following Japanese press release divulged more details on the Frieren crossover content.
Sega has so far only shared a piece of collaborative artwork featuring Frieren and Manon, the latter being one of the two main heroines of PSO2: New Genesis. The company will publish more details about the crossover at the next NGS Headline program on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is available as a free-to-play title on PC and PlayStation 4 worldwide, with an additional Nintendo Switch release in Japan and Xbox One version elsewhere worldwide. Atlus is working with Animate and Frontier Works to release more acrylic stands featuring characters from Unicorn Overlord. The new standees will appear in mid-2025. Pre-orders for the stands are immediately available on Animate's online storefront.
The newly revealed acrylic stands will be different from the first batch of 107 character stands revealed earlier in 2024. The new batch will mostly feature the existing title characters in two different poses, with more variations based on the lower and upper-class attires.
There will be 272 new stands in this batch. The prices for individual stands will range between 1,760~2,750 yen (~$11.70~18.30). However, if one wants to purchase all of those 272 stands, they will have to spend a grand total of 572,440 yen (~$3,810).
The companies will also restock the acrylic character and background stands from the first batch. When combined with the new second batch, there will be a total of 379 unique character stands with 15 backgrounds available.
These items will be based on Atlus and Vanillaware's strategy RPG that has been available worldwide on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Atlus announced that it has sold over 1 million units of the game as of September 2024.
Animate will close the pre-order window for the new batch of Unicorn Overlord character and background acrylic stands on January 15, 2025. The company will start delivering the goods in mid-June 2025.

A new 1/7 scale figure featuring the Hololive Vtuber Houshou Marine will appear courtesy of Design Coco. The studio has opened pre-orders for the figure on its Coco Store website. The Vtuber's figure is slated for release in December 2025.
The scale figure will have a total height of around 201 mm (7.91 inches)—measured from the treasure chest base to the top of Marine's pirate hat. However, the owner will also be able to remove the hat from her head optionally.
The figure will have a price tag of ¥27,500, which already includes Japanese tax but still excludes shipping costs. Coco Store also allows people outside Japan to place orders via its official global shipping partner Buyee at around $193.

Houshou Marine is one of the most popular Vtubers from Hololive Production. She became the first Japanese Vtuber in the group to surpass 3 million YouTube subscribers in January 2024. As of early December 2024, that number has increased to 3.61 million. That puts her up to second place overall after Hololive English's Gawr Gura.
Coco Store will close the pre-order window for its 1/7 scale figure of Houshou Marine on January 7, 2025, for the early bird sticker bonus, or March 13, 2025, for the overall figure. It will formally release the figure in December 2025.

Nintendo has revealed that it is working with Bandai to produce and sell Gashapon capsule magnet toys themed after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The former has also put the toys up for sale in its physical stores across Japan.
The official Japanese name for the new capsule toy collection is "Zonau Gear Magnet." It thus refers to the Zonai Devices that appeared in the Tears of the Kingdom game. The above image shows the following items from left to right: Portable Pot, Fan, Rocket, Flame Emitter, Big Wheel, and Beam Emitter. Each magnet toy will also come encased in special capsules engraved with Zonai crests.
Nintendo is releasing the capsule toys in its physical stores in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. The items are also available at Nintendo's temporary pop-up store on the sixth floor of Kanazawa Forus. The latter will remain open until December 29, 2024.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom magnet capsule toys are immediately available for purchase in the Kanazawa Forus pop-up store and Nintendo's official physical stores in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka in limited numbers. The toys will also be available via Bandai's Gashapon vending machines later in the Spring season of 2025.
