Here's something odd: Pentiment, a previously Xbox-exclusive narrative-focused game from Obsidian, currently runs better on PlayStation 5 than it does on Xbox Series X/S. It's apparently a bug that will be fixed, but the whole situation has set off a firestorm in the never-ending console war.

star rail sparkle trailer

Ahead of her official release, HoYoVerse put out a trailer and shared additional information about Sparkle, who will debut in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0. She will appear in the gacha from February 29, 2024.

You can watch the Honkai: Star Rail Sparkle trailer here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpuQvbTwCWU

It is also available in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

The trailer shows the way Sparkle flits through different emotions, masks, and identities. We saw a glimpse of her transformation abilities during the Version 2.0 Trailblaze Mission in Penacony. Like Sampo, Sparkle is a member of the Masked Fools, who are followers of the Path of Elation.

Sparkle's passive Talent increases the max number of Skill Points, and she can increase all allies' DMG when someone consumes a Skill Point. Her Skill can Advance Forward an ally's action, as well as raises their Crit DMG. Finally, her Ultimate recovers SP for the team, as well as gives everyone the Cipher buff. This increases the DMG boost from her Talent. Sparkle's kit, so far, makes her a very good support character for units like Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae and Qingque, who are both SP-hungry attackers.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available for the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Sparkle will appear in the Honkai: Star Rail gacha from February 29, 2024.

Best Color Chips in the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC

As you go through the roguelike Splatoon 3 Side Order, you'll acquire Color Chips for your Palette that affect your abilities. Some may end up feeling stronger or more useful than others, though your mileage may vary. Here are some of the best Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC Color Chips you can pick up to improve your performance in any run.

Best Drone Color Chips in the Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC

There are three chips I recommend grabbing for Pearl if you can. All of them are handy, because they can make her a little more helpful. While her Killer Wail one she gets during the tutorial is fine, I think these other three can offer greater range.

  • Drone Inkstrike: She'll be able to use an Inkstrike. This is great, since there's greater range and odds of it getting enemies than something like Killer Wail.
  • Drone Items: Pearl will create support items and drop them down to you as she charges up.
  • Drone Sprinkler: This is probably the most controversial of my picks. You know the Sprinkler sub-weapon in Splatoon 3? This makes the Pearl Drone that for a while. Since she follows you, it can help!

Best Lucky Color Chips in Splatoon 3

So with the Lucky Color Chips, my recommendation is getting ones that increases the length and window of the chain. This is because the other chips are more specialized. If you like extra armor, extra Pearl Drone batteries, more Canned Special items, or Ink Bottle items, then one of those Color Chips might be the best one for you. But these other two are more universal.

  • Lucky Chain Window: With this one, it focuses on a larger duration, which increases your odds of getting items if you hit enemies one after another.
  • Max Lucky Chain: This Color Chip's focus is on the maximum length. Again, it's about bolstering the odds of drops.

Best Mobility Color Chips in Splatoon 3

There are a lot of Mobility abilities that can be great! My favorites are the ones that help build up charges. But also the general ones that increase movement speeds are fantastic. Since these are so specialized depending on your own build preferences, I'm just going to go ahead and list some of the general great ones you should consider.

  • Extra Dodge Roll: You can roll one more time when Dualies are equipped.
  • Mobile Drone Gauge: The Pearl Drone's gauge fills up when you move around.
  • Mobile Ink Recovery: You will get ink just by running around.
  • Mobile Special Charge: Your Special Gauge will increase when you walk around a stage.
  • Moving Ink Speed: If you use a Brush or Roller, you'll move faster when you have it on the ground and are running ink the ground.
  • Run Speed Up: You'll sprint faster when you're in the humanoid Octoling form.
  • Swim Speed Up: You'll swim faster when in the octopus form.

Best Power Color Chips in Splatoon 3

Power Color Chips tend to be universally helpful in Splatoon 3. Like you can't turn down dealing more damage to enemies, because it really helps with survivability. There are a few specialized ones that might not be as useful in every run, like the Sound Wave Damage Color Chip. But in general, a lot work with any run you have going.

  • Ink Damage: Increases Pearl Drone and weapon damage.
  • Main Damage (Close): If you're close to your enemy, then you'll deal more damage than usual.
  • Main Damage (Distant): This is really only best with weapons that have a long range, like the Bow or Charger Palette, but it could pair with the Main Range Color Chip.
  • Main Firing Speed: Your rate of fire goes up.
  • Poison Ink: Given how easy it is for a fleet of Swarming Languendo to mob you, I love and fully endorse this one. (It's great for the other Jelleton enemies too!)

Best Range Color Chips in Splatoon 3

A lot of the range updates are super useful, but come down to your personal preference. Do you have trouble aiming? Ink Attack Size is good to help with that. Want more range, but hate Chargers and love Dualies? Main Range is a good way to deal with that. If you've also been going with Color Chips like Poison Ink or Sticky Ink that either damage or slow enemies walking on your ink, then Main Ink Coverage, Rush Ink Coverage, and Hindrance Damage make sense.

But in general, I suggest these Range Color Chips. They aren't really dependent on builds.

  • Main Piercing: Adds a Pierce effect to your main weapon's attack, so it will go through enemies to hit ones behind them.
  • Special Charge Up: When your ink hits surfaces, your Special Gauge will fill.
  • Turf Drone Gauge: Pearl Drone's gauge will fill when you get your ink on the ground or other surfaces.
  • Turf Lucky Chain: This one is my favorite, as it means your Lucky Chain will increase just by getting ink on the ground and isn't solely determined by enemies.

Splatoon 3 and the Side Order DLC are available now on the Nintendo Switch.

NieR Automata Anime Second Cour Key Art Includes 2B Spoiler

Back in July 2023, the second cour of the NieR Automata anime ended up being announced, and now a new key art image of 2B is teasing a major spoiler. It hints at the Ver1.1a depiction of an event that heavily influenced characters and the story in the game.

Editor's Note: There will be a 2B spoiler for the events of both the NieR Automata anime adaptation and the game below.

When both NieR Automata and Ver1.1a begin, 2B is basically the main character. She's accompanied by 9S We begin by seeing the two as they deal with the machine lifeforms. However, the game also involves both 9S and A2 being equal leads after a point. The latest key art suggests this second cour of the anime will involve the major event involving 2B that helps provide motivations for 9S' decisions.

https://twitter.com/NieRA_anime_EN/status/1762146448248918114

There are currently 12 episodes of Ver1.1a available to watch online. In addition to the original Japanese voice acting, Crunchyroll offers English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish as dub options.

This comes right as NieR Automata is celebrating its seventh anniversary. The game debuted on the PS4 and PC in 2017. Square Enix revealed it passed eight million in sales after hitting that milestone.

NieR Automata is available on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Windows PC. The first cour of the Ver1.1a anime adaptation is available to stream via Crunchyroll, and the second cour of NieR Automata will appear in 2024.

Review: Bandle Tale Gets Crafty in a Leisurely Way

I'm in a weird place with Bandle Tale, because while I really enjoyed taking some leisurely time crafting with cute Yordles in a cute, often rewarding game, it also comes knowing we don't see this happen again. At least, not from Riot due to it killing off the creative Riot Forge branch. However, at least there's the hope that developer Lazy Bear Games, which also made Graveyard Keeper, will keep working on these sorts of simulations.

One reason this is all so sad is that Bandle Tale is incredibly accessible. You don't need to know anything about League of Legends or its lore. There are Yordles. They're fluffy folks. Some are knitters that craft and can use yarn to make things like homes, bridges, prosthetic limbs, and portals. There. You're all caught up.

Players' Yordle is an entirely original character. Prior to the events of the game, they were a homebody. After their mentor Gramps knits them a new leg, they are suddenly given an opportunity to travel outside of their comfort zone. Upon doing so, they head to a party being thrown by the Yordle equivalent of an influencer named Ozzy with their friend Clover. However, Ozzy used faulty yarn during it, which shut down the whole Portal network and left Yordles lost and disconnected. The players' avatar is able to return to their home island and sets out to start growing as a knitter, restore the portals, connect the Yordles, and find Clover again.

It is an adventure that can feel like an RPG, given you're gaining emotions from creating that can be applied to new skills and completing quests unlocks access to new parts of the trees. However, there's no combat. It can feel like a simulation, as you'll do things like run a food stall or throw parties and profit off of that. It can feel like it's all about exploration, as you're constantly gathering resources. I'd say the closest comparison I can think of offhand, if it helps, is to say Bandle Tale feels a little like Gust's Atelier series, only with no combat. There's the same gameplay loop of making things to fulfill quests for the community or yourself so you can acquire new types of things and make more types of items.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8uGp6Cf53Q&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

This sort of experience might not be for everyone, for certain. Bandle Tale is very leisurely. A lot of your time is spent gathering, creating, and fulfilling certain needs. It can feel like a bit of a grind, though there are fairly frequent "rewards" in the forms of new recipes or goalposts to hit. What might hurt early on is the way it goes about things. Some of the tutorials don't explain things well or at all, meaning you're sort of left to your own devices when it comes to learning how to, say, start farming or gathering certain types of resources. It also can be easy to forget how to get to a certain type of item, since there are situations where you might need to go through multiple tiers of refining and crafting to get a component you need.

If it is for you, like it very much was for me, it can all very quickly click together. This is also helped by the fact Bandle Tale is so personable. The writing is clever and fun. Characters' personalities come through even in short encounters or brief snippets. The pixel art is also extraordinary. It's pretty and intricate. It is the epitome of cozy.

In truth, it makes me wonder if the fate of Riot Forge would have been different if we had seen more titles like Bandle Tale that were so approachable and required so little investment in League of Legends and its characters. It's an ideal sort of introduction to an element of that world, as well as a fairly strong cozy game for people willing to be patient with it and take their time.

Bandle Tale is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

This Stardew Valley update 1.6 release date only applies to the PC version of the game. However, the developer did say the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile patches will arrive "as soon as possible."

We do have an idea of what to expect from this update though. Concerned Ape teased that it will be "larger in scope than originally planned" back in January 2024. The developer also noted that there will be a new festival appearing after the update.

For people who don't own the game, it is temporarily on sale on certain platforms. People can get it for $7.49 on Steam and the Nintendo eShop until the end of February 26, 2024.

Atlus Shared Its 3D Persona 3 Reload Aigis Billboard Ad

Atlus took to social media to share an example of the Persona 3 Reload Aigis 3D billboard ad used to promote the game. It also noted people in New York, New York and Los Angeles, California were able to see it in person.

This Persona 3 Reload Aigis 3D ad was shown on select billboards in the two cities. It is actually based on gameplay from the title. The footage shown on the building is adapted from her Orgia Mode Theurgy attack she can use in the game. It shows her powering up and entering Automation Mode, which is when she'll immediately do an AOE Pierce attack, then act independently and more strongly than usual in a "berserk" sort of mode for a few turns. (After this happens in-game, she'll enter a cooldown state.)

Here's how the ad looked. After the segment with Aigis, it shared information about the game.

https://twitter.com/Atlus_West/status/1761466146857906452

It isn't uncommon for companies to turn to these types of 3D billboard ads to promote their games in cities. For example, FFVII Remake was advertised with a Red XIII one in Tokyo. That one even won an award. One showed up to promote FFXVI. Also, in related news, the Las Vegas Sphere featured a Honkai: Star Rail 2.0 ad ahead of the Penacony launch.

Here are the sample images for the crossover T-shirts:

Uniqlo had previously revealed multiple batches of apparel featuring Sanrio characters. In 2023 alone, the brand featured the franchise three times in March, August, and December. But while crossover merchandise between Sanrio and other anime or game franchises has appeared on other outlets, this will be the first time Uniqlo releases crossover apparel between the former and Chiikawa. The latter manga series has found popularity among Japanese social media users, and its second Spot the Difference puzzle book came out in October 2023.

The Chiikawa x Sanrio Characters Sweets Collection shirts will be available in Uniqlo stores from early May 2024.
