Dozens of forgotten PC classics have suddenly just been relaunched

SNK, the company responsible for gaming hardware like the Neo Geo, has a massive catalog of fantastic games. Over the decades, it's created fighting game staples like The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and Samurai Shodown and, just as notably, coin devouring shooters like the Metal Slug series. While some of these games, especially more recent launches like King of Fighters XV, have been made available on PC, SNK's complete portfolio still hasn't made its way over to the platform as individual entries. Fortunately, though, SNK has just added two dozen of its classics to GOG today at a discounted price.

Intel Arc Battlemage GPUs to launch before Black Friday, says report

The arrival of Intel's second generation of proper, bonafide discrete graphics cards has been a long and drawn out process. However, we're finally getting ever closer to the Intel Battlemage release date, it would seem, as the latest rumors suggest cards will be available to buy in time for this coming holiday season.

Yes, Black Friday 2024 may still be a few months away, but you'll be surprised how quickly the time will fly. And when it does arrive we could actually have a brand new Intel GPU sitting proud on our best graphics card guide, if Intel Battlemage does actually turn out to be any good.

Overlooked roguelike horror FPS gets massive new update, out now

Witchfire hasn't really gotten its due since it came out late last year. A combination of thudding Doom style shooting, Elden Ring and Dark Souls' grim fantasy setting, and roguelike design, Witchfire is a unique take on the horror and fantasy genres as well and an interesting spin on the FPS, that currently neglected corner of videogames. Made by The Astronauts, the studio behind 2014's The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Witchfire is now poised to garner a bit more attention, thanks to a major update that's out today.

Honkai Impact 3rd Thelema Battlesuit Is Mad Pleasure: Shadowbringer

The 7.4 update for Honkai Impact 3rd should be showing up in April 2024, and when it does we will also see the Thelema Battlesuit Mad Pleasure: Shadowbringer. She will be an S-rank MECH unit who deals Ice damage.

When someone takes Thelema into battle, she'll use her chained blades weapons and Wheel of Destiny Astral Ring for attacks. She will be a part of the Dancing With Shadows banner until May 24, 2024. Her basic attack is Banquet Invite: Be Seated and can chain into a three-hit combo that does things like ignore enemy interruptions when she attacks. Her Stay Seated: As the Host Commands Combo can perform upward or downward directed attacks, depending on her position when it is performed. The Liquor: A Toast to Everyone skill can either pull in or perform Rime Trauma depending on how it is used. All of those attacks also involve her building up the Banquet Enjoyment state. If she has six Banquet Enjoyments built up, she can use a special combo and expend them to pull in enemies and deal ice damage.

Her Ultimate is called Banquet Opening: Festive Crowd. It can cause a Time-Frozen Domain. This pauses timers and freezes things, allowing her more attacks. She also won't take any damage during this state.

Finally, HoYoVerse went over her Astral Ring Skill. If someone uses Joint Celebration: Praise My Name, then anyone you have in her party on standby will act as Phantoms to support her. They will help with damage. She'll also get buffs and build up Banquet Enjoyment.

We've seen quite a lot of new characters becoming playable in Honkai Impact 3rd thanks to the recent second part and launch of 7.3. Senadina, Coralie, and Helia Battlesuits all appeared when that version debuted in February 2024. That patch is also when the AstralOp characters Dreamseeker, who everyone gets for free, and Songque showed up too.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the Thelema Battlesuit Mad Pleasure: Shadowbringer will be a part of the 7.4 update. That next patch is expected to appear in April 2024.

Review: C-Smash VRS Offers Another Take on VR Tennis

Tennis games are a natural fit for VR, due to the perspective, opportunity for multiplayer elements, and the way that you'll see the ball heading right for you, and C-Smash VRS takes advantage of that and its Cosmic Smash roots to impress. The result is a game that, while it might take a little time to get accustomed to your range in-game, is a delight.

C-Smash VRS transport you to an ultra-mod space station, one which allows you to see the stars and planets outside the windows. In Single Player, you can go through a tutorial, explore Journey Mode to go through stages involving the busting of virtual blocks in the space ahead of you, or go through specific stages. Infinity Mode lets you go alone or with another and just… endlessly bust up blocks. You choose the speed, how many blocks appear, and the music that plays, then enjoy. As for Versus, you can face an AI Bot, arrange a match, or head into a Quickplay match with someone else. Entering this menu also allows you to see the option to check your win and loss record.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfss5_xPkvg&ab_channel=C-SmashVRS

Playing C-Smash VRS isn't too challenging, and anyone familiar with a tennis standard or VR video game will pick it up quickly. Your dominant hand holds your racket, and the other is used to pull the ball toward yourself for serves. Depending on the angle you hit the ball and your approach, you may pull off curveballs or power shots. In modes where blocks are present, your goal is typically to eliminate all of them as quickly as possible. If you're playing competitively against an AI bot or person, you're trying to get the ball past them and earn points. Think of it as one of those games that is easy to pick up and learn, but could be difficult to master as you learn the nuances and motions for certain sorts of shots.

It helps that the presentation in C-Smash VRS is impeccable, resulting in a tennis VR game with a memorable look. There are very stark, poppy colors used throughout, offering clear distinction between blocks and the background. This lends itself to the futuristic nature of both this game and Cosmic Smash. We also have this fantastic soundtrack that completes the ambiance and atmosphere.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBp6SPJnLcA&ab_channel=C-SmashVRS

I really only encountered one issue when playing C-Smash VRS on the Meta Quest 3, and it had to do with range and reach. There would be times when it looked like, based on my perspective, I would have managed to hit the ball above me. However, in reality, the hitboxes didn't align and I would end up missing the ball. Now, I also encountered a little of this during my first half hour of play with balls that would bounce just outside my range to the left or right. However, I definitely think those instances involved user errors on my part and overestimating.

Regardless, C-Smash VRS is a really admirable take on Cosmic Smash that is so much fun on the Meta Quest 3, due to it being a really enjoyable VR tennis that also combines Breakout elements to make more of an arcade experience if you're playing alone. Likewise, it's quite enjoyable with others or an opponent. Just make sure you get used to your limits and boundaries before trying to get competitive.

C-Smash VRS is available on the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro, as well as the PSVR 2. C-Smash VRS: New Dimension will come to the PS5 and not require VR.

So, if isn't obvious, you must get a Brave weapon with this perk. Out of the 12 Brave weapons, only nine of them feature the Desperate Measures perk in their fourth column. Take a look a...

Abandoned MOBA and shooter hybrid returns with new edition on Steam

When a multiplayer game's servers are shut down, that's usually the last we ever hear from it. Because of this, we assumed that Gigantic, which blended the hero shooter approach of a game like Overwatch with MOBA design reminiscent of League of Legends or Dota 2, was gone forever when its servers went quiet in 2018, about a year after its launch. This hasn't turned out to be the case. Gigantic has now come out once again through a new premium version, Gigantic: Rampage Edition, which has just landed on Steam.

Rollercoaster Tycoon in any of its original guises is not a game that needs a fancy new graphics makeover. So much of its charm is in its of-its-time graphics. That's why we're all too happy to see there's an RTX Remix mod in the works for Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 - the first truly 3D version of the series.

But speaking with Eric Manahan, the founder of Matte Black Studio and solo developer behind Lucid, was restorative. It won't come as a huge surprise, but the Lenovo Legion Go 2 is confirmed, although the name is subject to change. Lenovo's gaming category manager for the APAC region, Clifford Chong, discussed the likelihood of the next-generation handheld, but tempered expectations when it comes to a timeline.

The Lenovo Legion Go is one of the best handheld gaming PCs that money can buy, largely down to its huge 8.8-inch, 1600p display. It often catches comparisons to the Nintendo Switch, thanks to its removable controllers, but it has much more powerful gaming hardware under the hood than the Switch, including an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme CPU.

The full Tekken 8 roster – all Tekken 8 characters

Which characters are in Tekken 8? Over the years, many fighters have participated in the King of Iron Fist Tournaments, but the latest installment sees the absence of one key face in particular. Heihatchi Mishima is officially dead, and now the world's fate is in the hands of those rising to face his demonic son, Kazuya. Some directly oppose him, whereas others fight for their own ambitions.

Most of the characters in the Tekken 8 roster revealed are returning characters, and we've had enough time with some of them that we've got a Tekken 8 tier list that shows how good they are during the early stages of development. Some fighters have been with the fighting game series since the beginning, whereas others are more recent inclusions, and one character is even making a long-awaited comeback in Tekken 8.

EK just created my new favorite way to customize your gaming PC

This simple little sub-$10 doohickey is a way for users to easily add a truly custom design to their gaming PC by way of an illuminated top plate on their EK Nucleus AIO cooler.

The idea behind the... let's just call it the Creator Kit, is that owners of RGB-lit EK Nucleus AIO coolers can create their own custom 3D-printed designs to place on top of their AIO cooler's pump housing. With such customization options, we might have to consider adding a few EK models to our best AIO cooler guide.

Intel's Core i5-13600KF just hit its lowest price ever

Intel's 13th gen CPUs may not have been the most revered processors of all time, thanks to them generally running quite hot and often being beaten in games by AMD's rival chips. However, the Core i5 13600K and 13600KF have long been solid options for building a mid-range gaming PC, and that's not doubly the case, thanks to this Intel CPU deal.

This Intel CPU is the variant of the Core i5 13600K without the integrated graphics. Not only does that mean it's already slightly cheaper than the K version, but you don't need the integrated graphics for a gaming PC anyway. When it comes to Intel options, it's the best gaming CPU available for most players.

One of the most unique new shooters of 2024 is finally here

From Doom to Call of Duty, Half-Life to Grand Theft Auto, it's the most common action in all of videogames, a banal, dispassionate input that we mostly execute without thinking. You point the gun. You shoot the gun. You kill whatever is on the screen. The Last of Us, Spec Ops The Line, and various others present moral challenges to this tradition, but it's still almost always the same: you kill in videogames without really feeling anything either way. From Cult of the Lamb and Hotline Miami publisher Devolver Digital, and created by independent developer René Rother, a new shooter, and one of the most stylish and unique games of 2024 so far, makes every single bullet an involved exercise in planning and delivery. Available right now, this is a vicious, vivid variation on virtual slaughter.

Ubisoft Massive's open world action-adventure Star Wars Outlaws will release on 30th August 2024, according to a new story trailer which introduces us properly to "emerging scoundrel" Kay Vess, aka Hannah Solo. If you haven't had the pleasure, Kay is a budding crook on the run from her underworld boss, a journey that sees her tangling with several other Star Wars crime syndicates on various planets. It really feels like they're keeping a lot of the headline Star Wars stuff at a respectful distance for this one: yes, Jabba the Hutt makes an appearance, but there's nary a whiff of The Force, Jedi or Sith in the trailer and not once does anybody build a Death Star.

But if I did and I were, you can bet that I'd go on a rip-roaring rampage of revenge! Stepping into the be-grimed trainers and unwashed jacket of the protagonist - a misused girl whose vibe is that of a member of Gorillaz - you shoot a single bullet from your gun and control it in first-person as you zip it through the heads, hearts and hands of cultists placed around a level. Final Fantasy XVI Tonberry Hexer Enemies Shown in DLC Screenshots

We have a better idea of how the Tonberry enemies will look in Final Fantasy XVI, thanks to new DLC screenshots from Square Enix. They appear alongside an unnamed opponent in a new Mysidia location in the game.

The four new screenshots from the Final Fantasy XVI DLC are taken at the The Aire of Hours location in Mysidia. In one of them, we see a new location that is encircled by a blue force field. The other three are taken from a boss fight. That's where we get to see Clive up against the Final Fantasy XVI Tonberry Hexers. There appear to be four of them in the screenshot, and they are accompanying a larger, unnamed, armored opponent. The final two images from Square Enix offer closer looks at this foe.

Here's a full gallery of the new screenshots Square Enix shared with us on social media.

It seems like we will see this take on the classic Final Fantasy Tonberry only in the one location in Mysidia. The other screenshots shared so far didn't show them lurking about in the images. Instead, we saw Clive in a lush, clean, grassy area. There were also images showing a blue light that seemed to be coming from a crystalline area.

As a reminder, this new area will look very different from the ones we explored alongside Clive in the main game. This is because the new region is one that appears to be completely unaffected by the Blight that is taking over the rest of the world.

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PS5, and its The Rising Tide DLC will debut on April 18, 2024. The game will also eventually come to PCs.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Future Saga DLC Adds Videl, Android 18

Future Saga Chapter 1 is the next Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC, and it turns out it also means the playable debut of Dragon Ball Super versions of Android 18 and Videl. They will join Super Saiyan Rose Ultra Supervillain Goku Black and Super Saiyan God Ultra Supervillain Vegeta

Both of these versions of Android 18 and Videl wear outfits and use moves they'd perform in Dragon Ball Super. Bandai Namco went over them at the Dragon Ball official site. So Android 18 will be able to use Kikoha and Steel Mirage as Super Attacks. She also wears her Tournament of Power outfit. The two Videl Super Attacks present with this version of the character are Burning Swan and Seagull Combination. She'll perform them while wearing the outfit she had on at Bulma's birthday party during that series. Both of the heroines will also be featured some of the 12 Parallel Quests in the add-on.

In addition, players will be able to dress up as this version of Videl. Her outfit and hairstyle will be added as cosmetics. Bandai Namco shared screenshots of how those will look with us:

As for things to come, we know that the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will both appear on May 24, 2024. After that, the official roadmap from the end of March 2024 noted three empty blocks with question marks in the "future" section, suggesting we could see more Future Saga chapters or additional add-ons.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available for the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will debut on May 24, 2024. There's no release date for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Future Saga Chapter 1 and its Android 18 and Videl DLC just yet.

Suika Game collaboration with MOS Burger and Amaou strawberry

Aladdin X has announced that it will hold a collaboration campaign between Suika Game and the Japanese restaurant chain MOS Burger. The company will also produce a new character design modeled after the Fukuoka-grown Amaou strawberry used in the restaurant's seasonal drink menu.

This campaign will primarily feature the Mazeru Shake Amaou drink, which is exclusively available for purchase in the Spring season until late May 2024. MOS Burger will also publish a promotional video starring the Japanese voice actress Miku Ito on April 11, 2024. The video will feature a fictional mode in Suika Game where all characters get changed to the Amaou strawberry.

The collaboration will also feature exclusive item giveaways. The first 100 people in each MOS Burger outlet to order a strawberry shake—including the signature Mazeru Shake Amaou—will receive a sticker set featuring the Amaou strawberry and other Suika Game characters. Aladdin X and MOS Burger will also hold separate sweepstakes on their respective X accounts. People residing in Japan will be able to win exclusive T-shirts, MOS Card vouchers, or a jumbo Suika plush.

Suika Game originally appeared on Aladdin X's popIn Aladdin ceiling projector. The company also released the game on Nintendo Switch, where it gained a massive popularity boost in 2023. The game even beat the likes of Pikmin 4 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to top the 2023 Switch download ranking in Japan. Aladdin X is also working on gradually releasing Suika Game to more platforms, such as iOS in January 2024 and Android in April 2024.

The Suika Game collaboration campaign with MOS Burger will launch on April 11, 2024.

Battle Angel Alita Among Stellar Blade Inspirations

In a new PlayStation Blog interview, Stellar Blade Director Kim Hyung Tae revealed Battle Angel Alita is another inspiration for the game. Specifically, he cited the 2019 movie starring Rosa Salazar as a major influence.

Here's exactly what Kim mentioned when discussing Stellar Blade and its reference to Battle Angel Alita in the PlayStation Blog interview:

There are quite a few. However, one of the most inspirational, in terms of theme and design, is the sci-fi manga Gunnm by Yukito Kishiro sensei. It was released as an action film in 2019 under the title Alita: Battle Angel. I'd say I took a lot of inspiration from that movie.

As a reminder, Battle Angel Alita began running in Japan in 1990. It's since appeared worldwide, and it also inspired anime adaptations and the 2019 live-action movie Alita: Battle Angel. The series stars Alita, a cyborg with amnesia surviving in a cyberpunk world who ends up using her martial arts skills and strength to hunt down criminals. Throughout the course of the story, she ends up being tied to the community and a savior.

Head of launch, Shift Up and Director Kim Hyung Tae have often discussed various Stellar Blade inspirations and shared development details. We already know NieR Automatainfluenced the action game, for example. Also, the length of Eve's hair also affected its development time.

Stellar Blade will come to the PlayStation 5 on April 26, 2024. There's no word yet on if it will eventually appear on other platforms sometime after that.

Honkai Star Rail Aventurine Gameplay

HoYoverse released another character preview on HoYolab, this time going over the gameplay mechanics of upcoming Honkai: Star Rail character Aventurine. He was also playable in certain sections of the Penacony storyline added in version 2.1.

Aventurine is an Imaginary element character who walks the path of Preservation, meaning his focus is on protecting and sustaining your team with stackable shields provided by his Skill. Like March 7th, however, Aventurine has an offensive side to his kit. When he (or an ally he has shielded) is attacked, he gains stacks of Blind Bet. These are then consumed to perform a follow-up attack that can hit multiple enemies.

His major traces and signature Light Cone were also detailed, with his traces providing bonuses to his talent allowing him to gain Crit Rate based on his Defense stat, gain Blind Bet when allies perform follow-up attacks, and start battles with some of his shields already in place. His Light Cone "Inherently Unjust Destiny" increases the bearer's defense by a good amount and boosts critical damage when they provide shields to allies. Additionally, follow-up attacks by a character with this light cone can inflict an enemy with an effect increasing damage taken.

As part of Honkai: Star Rail's first anniversary celebration, a video featuring the character March 7th will be appearing at several train stations in Japan's Tokyo and Saitama prefectures. The game's development team also recently commented on the origin of recurring character "The Lordly Trashcan".

Aventurine is set to become available in Honkai: Star Rail on April 17, 2024. The game itself is readily available on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices.

The writer instead shared the artwork of two characters who are slated to appear in the new anime show. Nyalra is the writer behind Needy Streamer Overload, the streamer management game that first appeared on PC in January 2022. Needy Streamer Overload also has its own anime projects running. In January 2024, WSS playground published three short anime videos on its YouTube channel, with one of them being produced by Yostar Pictures. The Japanese indie game publisher also simultaneously shared a public registration form inviting more people to create anime based on the title.

PSA: Palworld Xbox Multiplayer Save Issue Being Fixed

Pocketpair announced that the v0.2.0.6 Palworld Xbox patch has multiplayer save issues and warned people not to create or play any multiplayer games on the Xbox One or Xbox Series X until it is resolved. It confirmed that a patch is in the works to fix this new issue.

Here's the problem. When the new update launched, people found that any saves from before the April 9, 2024 v0.2.0.6 wouldn't work. When Pocketpair first noticed the issue, it alerted people to not load those multiplayer files. Its latest update noted that any Palworld multiplayer Xbox save files created after the v0.2.0.6 patch appeared will not work when the new update designed to fix that loading problem launches.

Here's the official notification:

https://twitter.com/Palworld_EN/status/1777693881028776359

This is one of two issues with that patch. The other is one involving egg incubators. However, there is a workaround for that until a fix is released. People are able to destroy, then rebuild an incubator to begin using it to hatch eggs again.

As for this v0.2.0.6 patch, it is a rather big one. It adds the first Raid to the game, which is Bellanoir. There are new items and pieces of equipment for folks to use.

Palworld is available for the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in early access.

Pokemon Pikachu road safety badges given to 2024 first graders in Japan

Road safety badges featuring the Pokemon franchise mascot Pikachu have been making rounds in Japan. The Pokemon Company revealed that it has been helping distribute the badges to new first-graders who just entered elementary schools in the Spring of 2024 in the country.

The badges are modeled after the actual pedestrian children crossing sign in Japan but with the notable addition of Pikachu. The small Japanese hiragana text can be translated to "Before crossing, don't forget to check your right and left sides."

These badges are not only for decoration, as they also come with actual traffic accident injury insurance from Sompo Japan. The back side reveals that insurance will be valid until May 31, 2025, or a year after the student's first school admission day if it happens after April 1, 2024.

Both sides of the badge are available to view via an animated GIF image on the Japanese official Poke Times X account:

The Pokemon franchise, which originated as video games on Game Boy and subsequent Nintendo consoles, has since been featured in many aspects of pop culture not only in Japan but also worldwide. Pokemon Center Online Japan is still accepting pre-orders for Mother's Day-themed Pikachu flower arrangements until April 15, 2024. The Chinese animation studio Hanmu Chunhua also made a special short animation with the Japanese title "Tadaima" around the 2024 Lunar New Year.

The road safety badges featuring Pikachu are being distributed to first-grade students around Japan in Spring 2024.
