Atlus showcased new demons appearing in SMT V: Vengeance, including the new African demons Anansi and Onyankopon. Other SMT V: Vengeance demons recently detailed include Michael, Chironnupu, and Tzitzimitl.
Anansi is a trickster deity and folk hero originating from West Africa, and he is prominent within the folklore of the Ashanti and Akan people. The interpretation of Anansi's appearance is unclear, sometimes being depicted as a spider, and sometimes as a human. Anansi's design in SMT V: Vengeance seems to blend both depictions, and he is seen casting a unique Dark-type magic skill.
Onyankopon is a sky god of the Akan people of West Africa. Onyankopon is an alternate name of the supreme deity Nyame, and it is said it means "mighty one." He is the god of creation, and people turn to him in times of hardship to gain the motivation and will to persevere. As a playable demon in SMT V: Vengeance, Onyankopon seems to focus on support skills, with his unique King of Tale making enemies easier to hit and increasing ally attack power to its max rank.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on June 14, 2024. The original SMT V released exclusively for the Switch, and it will be delisted on the same day.

At a recent event for The Boy and the Heron, Goro Miyazaki, the executive producer, provided insights into Studio Ghibli's upcoming film. During his presentation, Miyazaki explained, "I'm creating a panorama box with various scenes from past works and scenes that don't exist, but it's boring if all I do is past works, so I asked him to make one for the next film. I told him to make the next one, and that's what I'm working on now." [Thanks, Game Watch!]
The director added, "I'm looking forward to an old-fashioned adventure film, but I don't think they'll do it exactly like that." This comment has sparked much discussion among fans.
The event also showcased a "layouts" section featuring 206 drawings from the production process of The Boy and the Heron. These layouts, serving as blueprints for animation, highlight the richness of hand-drawn expressions using paper and pencil.
The Boy and the Heron is an Academy Award-winning film from Studio Ghibli. The film is available to pre-order in UHD for $19.99 with a pre-order price guarantee on Prime Video. The official release date is June 24, 2024, at 9:00 PM PDT.

In a recent Famitsu interview, Stellar Blade Director Kim Hyung-Tae revealed that Shift Up is currently working on implementing a Photo Mode for the game. The developer also briefly discussed the upcoming update 1.003 and how they have plans to keep supporting the title going forward. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Regarding the Photo Mode currently in development for Stellar Blade, Kim Hyung-Tae said that the developers can't implement at the moment at the state of quality that they would like, and that they are working on it.
The developers were also asked about the possibility of a sequel. Director Kim said that they have many ideas for one, and that it could be a title the complements the narrative and worldview of Stellar Blade, or that they could take a completely different route with it.
The developers of Stellar Blade have talked about the game at large, listing some of their inspirations such as NieR: Automata or Battle Angel Alita, as well as talking about the possibility of a crossover collaboration with Shift Up's mobile game Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.
Stellar Blade is readily available for the PlayStation 5. Version 1.003 of the game is coming out on May 24, 2024, and you can ready the patch notes here.

HoYoVerse and Animate will collaborate on a series of Genshin Impact goods that feature Ganyu going on a summer vacation. The collaboration event, which has a name that can loosely translate to "Travels Where My Heart Takes Me," will start on June 15, 2024. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
You'll be able to find the Genshin Impact Ganyu goods in the Ikebukuro and Osaka Nipponbashi Animate stores. Ganyu is pulling along a white suitcase while holding a white parasol. She's wearing a summer dress with a light cardigan overtop, along with some white high heels. There is a red Chinese knot on her pochette, which is similar to what she has on her in-game outfit. In general, she looks like she's ready to go on vacation in some beach town.

More will appear as well. There are no prices either, so Animate will likely give more information on everything closer to the release date of collaboration merchandise.
Though Ganyu is the focus of these goods, she will probably not play any role in the upcoming Genshin Impact Version 4.7 update. This patch will feature new playable characters Clorinde, Sigewinne, and Sethos. The Traveler does not seem like she'll be returning to Liyue either.
Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

Square Enix kicked off another Final Fantasy XIV Free Login Campaign on May 24, 2024, which allows inactiveplayers to return to FFXIV and temporarily play for free. This latest round lasts until June 20, 2024.
As usual, registered service accounts that have been inactive for 30 days qualify. This means that if you haven't played FFXIV since before April 23, 2024, you could be eligible to participate in the Free Login Campaign. You can take part by downloading the launcher, logging in, and then playing for four days from the start of when you logged in for the first time. So if you played on a Mac, you can return on that. If you were a PS4 player, you need to redownload and play there for the duration of the campaign.
The important thing to note is that you only get a total of 96 hours to play. The timer for the Free Login Campaign starts the moment a person logs in. So if someone began it on May 24, 2024, regardless of how often you play it would end on May 28, 2024. If there ends up being maintenance during that time period, there will be no credits for the downtime. Also, if someone's account violated Square Enix's rules and got their account suspended or banned, they can not take part.
At the moment, multiple activities are live in FFXIV for those who take advantage of this promotion. The Make It Rain Campaign is available until May 31, 2024. The Fall Guys event is back until June 10, 2024. You can also get Moogle Treasure Trove: The Second Hunt for Genesis items until June 24, 2024. Also, the Yo-Kai Watch crossover is live until 7.0 debuts.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Dawntrail expansion debuts on July 2, 2024. The latest FFXIV Free Login Campaign will be available until June 20, 2024.

Bandai Spirits has revealed that it will release Robot Spirits action figures of Rei's Evangelion Unit 00' (Kai) and Asuka's Evangelion Unit 02 in July 2024. Both figures will have the same price tag of 5,500 yen (~$35), and they will be available exclusively at select Tamashii Nations stores.
The action figures will have an approximate total height of 170 mm (~6.69 inches). The units will come pre-built, but each set will include swappable alternate hand gesture parts. Bandai Spirits will also provide a Bullet Rifle and a Progressive Knife with each unit.

These figures will be formally available in Japan, the rest of Asia, and the US. For the latter, Bandai Spirits has indicated that the products will appear at Tamashii Nations Store New York.
Bandai Spirits also recommends pairing the units with Shinji's Evangelion Unit 01. The company had previously released Unit 01's action figure in the same lineup in late July 2022. Walmart started a Memorial Day 2024 sale, like many other stores, but what's notable about it is the number of games available. There are major Nintendo Switch and PS5 releases, such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Persona 3 Reload, and Diablo IV marked down.
Here are some of the more notable Walmart Memorial Day 2024 games currently on sale. Note that these are showing up on the website, so it is possible that the same deal may not appear in-store. However, there are free pickup options for many of the titles.
Also, in case you're experiencing Joy-Con direct, there is a deal on the controllers. The Neon Purple and Neon Orange set is $65.99, instead of $79.99. You could also get the Neon Blue and Neon Yellow set for $64.89.

Atlus has published a lot of details about the upcoming Atlus Fes that it will hold to celebrate the brand's 35th anniversary. Other than playable demos, the venue will also have a goods shop. The store will particularly feature merchandise from the upcoming title Metaphor: ReFantazio.
The goods shop will also feature items from other Atlus titles. One of the major highlights will be random trading stickers featuring all 272 demons from Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance that cost ¥200 apiece or ¥54,000 (~$345) for the complete set. However, it will also include merchandise from Metaphor: ReFantazio, the new RPG that won't be available until October 11, 2024.

Atlus will also hold a stamp rally featuring Persona series characters. Participants will be able to stamp the sheet with five of their favorite characters from every Persona entry, ranging from the inaugural Revelations: Persona to the most recent spin-off Persona 5 Tactica. However, Atlus will distribute the character stamps randomly at seven locations throughout Akihabara.
In addition, Atlus will hold multiple sweepstakes that reward prizes deliverable only domestically in Japan. People who complete the above stamp rally can share their completed sheets on X for a chance to win a Persona 3 Reload novelty set.
Atlus will also hold a real-time quiz test on June 1, 2024. Participants will have to follow the live stream to check the questions and answers, and submit the finished form before the stream concludes for a chance to win acrylic panels featuring key art from Atlus games.

Amazon kicked off its Memorial Day 2024 sale and, while there aren't too many major titles reduced, a number of video game deals to look through. The bulk of the items involve accessories like controllers or keyboards.
While most of the items featured in the Amazon Memorial Day 2024 video game sale are accessories, there are a handful of titles marked down. Here are the ones people can pick up at a discount:

Nintendo announced it will open a new US store in San Francisco, California, which will appropriately enough be called Nintendo San Francisco. There's no exact location noted for it yet beyond Union Square, but the company said people can expect to see it in 2025.
This is one of multiple Nintendo stores for people in the US. There is already a physical location in New York City. It's often home to special events or displays like the Gulf War Game Boy. The My Nintendo Store is open online for direct purchases from the company. There is also an official Amazon storefront with more merchandise.
By checking the Nintendo New York social media account, we can get a better idea of what to expect from the San Francisco location. For example, the company announced a Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door launch event. That will take place on May 25, 2024, with people able to attend and get art cards between 11am ET and 2pm ET. It features a gaming wall with demos. It also noted the physical storefront sells tie-in merchandise like the Animal Crossing Isabelle's House Visit Lego set, which you can find at other retailers or exclusive items like shirts.

When Cupid Parasite launched on the Switch, it didn't hold back and told over-the-top, often goofy love stories. Now Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling is here to continue the routes from the original otome game and add two others, and it is just as silly and stylish.
The meat of Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling is that there are new After Drama and Bonus Episodes for Allan Melville, Gill Lovecraft, Peter Flage, Raul Aconite, Ryuki Keisaiin, and Shelby Snail. After Drama stories all pick up after the good endings in the Cupid Parasite otome game, with Lynette in committed relationships with the other characters. You choose responses that are "sweet" or "spicy" in response to them, netting different situations that can be cute or sexy. So there typically aren't so much "bad" endings and you mainly experience different types of romance, though there are some exceptions to that. Getting to the end of a story can then unlock the subsequent Bonus Episodes for the love interests.
All of these routes are generally pretty fun, and they're often well-thought out. I was amazed how much I enjoyed Raul and Ryuki's stories, because I they weren't my favorites in the original games. Some of them feel like perhaps they take directions that don't always take into account plot points or character development in the original, such as Shelby's. I also appreciated that some of the out-there elements from the original showed up in the plots for Allan and Peter. I also didn't mind the fact that the Bonus Episodes are locked behind After Drama, because it does feel like it makes sense in this situation.
There is also the matter of Merenice Levin. While 90% of Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling involves new moments with existing characters, his story is entirely new. It's a case for Lynette that immediately falls after the common route in the first Cupid Parasite otome game, making you pretend any character development or other romantic developments ever existed. He does have his own "gimmick" like the other guys that gives him trouble, in this case using a doughnut like a crystal ball to see the future. I felt it has its moments and could be funny sometimes, but the pacing felt a bit rushed compared to the original routes. That, paired with the way Merenice pursues Lynette, made it a difficult to see that romance as being as genuine as some of the others.
I will say that even if one of the additional original stories don't go exactly like you'd want or expect and Merenice doesn't click with you, Idea Factory International and Otomate did not miss when it came to appearances. Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling is as poppy and gorgeous as the original. I love the UI elements. The use of color is fantastic throughout. Plus there are some absolutely fantastic CGs here. I think I'd even say I liked the event images better in this follow-up than I did in the original otome game.
The main downsides, aside from some narrative choices in the main After Drama routes and Merenice perhaps not being everyone's cup of tea, is that Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling has more of a limited audience than some otome games. If you didn't play the first game, you need to play that first. There's no possible way to jump into this and still have a good time, because they are too tightly bound together. I also ended up getting one of the apparently few "bad" endings when I went through one of my past favorite's routes, and it sort of soured my whole experience with that love interest in this entry.
Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling is a clear situation of more of a good thing, and people who enjoyed the original Switch otome game will be pleased. The new routes build on existing characters in typically entertaining ways. I will say that someone's opinions of Merenice may vary, as it may come across a bit forced compared to the goofiness from the first game. Still, there's a lot here for people who loved Shelby, Peter, Allan, Ryuki, Raul, and Gill.
Cupid Parasite: Sweet and Spicy Darling will come to the Nintendo Switch on May 28, 2024, and the original otome game is immediately available on the platform.

The social media account for Stellar Blade announced new modes, costumes, and changes are on the horizon in a patch that brings it up to version 1.003. The new patch will come out on May 24, 2024.

Boss Challenge will feature the 19 bosses from the base game and you can fight them on Hard settings after beating the main story. You can use either your own gear or one of the presets. You can compare your battle data—which includes information like battle time and how many times you executed perfect parries and dodges—with your friends.
Stellar Blade is a futuristic action-adventure game that focuses on EVE, who is fighting to save humanity from monstrous creatures. The game focuses on memorizing patterns and then counterattacking when you find an opening. You can read our review of the game here.
Stellar Blade is readily available on the PS5, and version 1.003 will come out on May 24, 2024.

Good Smile Company announced on social media that it is working on a Garfield Nendoroid. Rather than being based on the new The Garfield Movie film, which debuted on May 24, 2024, the reveal specified it is based on the cartoon appearing on Nickelodeon.
Unlike some Good Smile Company Nendoroid announcements, there's no concept art for the Garfield figure. Sometimes, it will offer an idea of how an upcoming character will look in the Nendoroid chibi style. Instead, it only used his official art from the cartoon.

This isn't the only recent Garfield figure to appear. YouTooz announced a Hatsune Miku one dressed as Garfield the cat. That debuted on May 24, 2024, the same day as the new movie.
It isn't uncommon for Good Smile Company to make a Nendoroid of a cartoon or comic character like this. There is one of Snoopy from Peanuts, as an example. That launched back in February 2024.
The Garfield Nendoroid is in development, and there's no release window for it yet. The Garfield Movie film based on the comic is now in theaters in North America. The cartoon appears on Nickelodeon. The original comic can be found on Go Comics.

The Pokemon Company revealed a new life-sized plush based on the torch Pokemon Larvesta. It has also opened pre-orders for the plush on the Japanese Pokemon Center Online store. The stuffed animal will be available in late November 2024, and it will cost 49,500 yen (~$315).
The Pokedex officially listed Larvesta's height as 1.1m / 3'07". This will be accurate in the plush when one measures its overall horizontal length. The Pokemon plush will be around 0.9m (2'11") tall and 1.17m (3'10") wide when its red horns are also measured. But while the Pokedex listed its original weight as 28.8 kg / 63.5 lbs, this plush will only weigh a fraction of that at just 5.4 kg (~11.9 lbs).
The plush will be made in Vietnam with polyethylene for its insides and polyester/polyurethane foam for the outsides. The company noted that Larvesta's white mane will be specifically made to be fluffy. It also added assurance that despite having Flame Body as its default ability, people who touch this plush will not be inflicted with a burn.
Larvesta, also known in Japan as Merlarva, is the pre-evolved form of Volcarona that debuted in the fifth-generation Nintendo DS entries Pokemon Black and White. Both Pokemon also appear in the ninth-generation Switch titles Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Game Freak also added two new Paradox Pokemon resembling Volcarona as version exclusives. They are Slither Wing in Scarlet and Iron Moth in Violet.
The Pokemon Company will close pre-orders for the life-sized Larvesta plush in Japan on July 1, 2024. It will start shipping the finished products in late November 2024.

There's another Baldur's Gate 3 Deluxe Edition delay, though this one only applies to the PS5 copies heading to North America. They won't launch in May 2024 as planned, and Larian Studios noted on social media that people won't get them until July 2024.
Larian Studios offered a detailed explanation for the Baldur's Gate 3 Deluxe Edition PS5 delay. This time, it is due to the disc manufacturing process taking longer in that region. The expected process is estimated to take 24 days total, though the company said it is trying to see if it would be possible to hire more people to help speed up the process. It also noted it can not offer digital copies as a substitute.
Here is the official announcement and apology. The ensuing updates also confirmed the PS5 Deluxe Edition copies in Europe and Australia already shipped, with people in those regions getting codes emailed to them with their digital bonuses.
Said update also noted the Xbox Series X versions of the Deluxe Edition are shipping out worldwide as planned. Those were also part of the initial delay that pushed shipments back into May 2024.
Baldur's Gate 3 is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Xbox Series X physical Deluxe Edition copies are shipping, as are PS5 copies in Europe and Oceania. The PC ones already shipped.
