June's smorgasbord of game events continued with the Future Games Show 2024 Summer Showcase, which displayed a great number of games of various budgets. The showcase aired over on Youtube on June 8, 2024.
While the event was a less bombastic affair than the previous day's Summer Game Fest, there were still several intriguing appearances. Judero was a Scottish action-adventure with a striking use of stop-motion animation and sculpted models, while Dredge: The Iron Rig promises a return to creepy but cozy fishing mysteries. Sonokuni to blend hip-hop music with Japanese aesthetics and gameplay reminiscent of Hotline Miami. Meanwhile, Clockwork Ambrosia promises "rule-breaking weapons" and power customization in a crafting-metroidvania. You can watch the Future Games Show 2024 in full over on Youtube.

Sometimes, you can pick up a model kit and realize it's going to be a big investment. You'll need to pick up paints. Maybe glue is needed. Magnifying glasses too, if the characters involves need painting and are extra tiny. The Sand Land Tank 104 model kit from Bandai Namco's Bandai Spirits line happens to fall into that sweet spot where it really isn't too much trouble to build and looks great out of the box, but still could look even better if you do also pick up the paints for its teeny figures of Beelzebub, Thief, and Lao.
So to start, the Sand Land Tank 104 model kit is one of the more expensive ones, as its retail price is $69. However, given the nature of it, you can get into it out of the box and not invest in anything else like glue or paints unless you really want to. I would recommend having a tools kit on hand, like the $7.99 BXQINLENX one with nippers, tweezers, and a file, just because there are small stickers that benefit from the tweezers and a few tiny parts that are easier to free from sprues with the nippers. However, you don't need glue, and as you'll see in the pictures from my build, it looks fine without any paints. However, if you do want to go with paints too, the instructions offers pointers at the bottom of each page for effects and Bandai Namco noted colors you'd need.
Now, because this is a Bandai Spirits kit, there are some great niceties going into it. All of the plastic is colored, so if you don't paint, you're still fine. Certain sprues are multicolor, like the A one here. Also, at each step the instructions tell you exactly which sprues you'll need to have on-hand. I also noticed that in some cases it seemed like they were bagged up together as well, which was especially appreciated during the assembly process. Both stickers and waterslide decals are present for some of the accents, like the Sand Land Tank 104 eyes and numbers for the doors. However, I really liked the quality and feel of the Sand Land logo stickers for the base. It made it pop more. (As a building note, I recommend using tweezers for that part to ensure proper placement in the sign.)
As for the rest of the build, I feel like the Sand Land Tank 104 model kit is a perfect example of getting a final product that looks more complicated than it was to actually construct. The tank treads are made up of seven tread parts placed in a specific order, so that it makes solid pieces of plastic look far more flexible. The tank body is broken down based on the rotating artillery on top, base with treads, interior cockpit with miniature figures of Beelzebub, Thief, and Lao, and exterior walls of the tank. It makes things more manageable, and the ensuing steps to piece everything together easier. Honestly, the only parts that were truly "hard" for me involved pressing in some of the controls near Beelzebub. That was only because they were delicate, and I didn't want to press too hard to "force" them into place.
I do wish that perhaps there had been some additional stickers or waterslide decals for Beelzebub, Thief, and Lao in the Sand Land Tank 104 model kit. Some of their facial features are incredibly small. Even if I had purchased paints or pens to properly capture expressions, I don't think my hands would have been steady enough to properly render their features. I'd have been willing to pay an extra $5 for a sheet. Or, conversely, have the price of the kit be $10-15 more to only include a single Beelzebub with a finished face plate in the box.
As you can see from my firsthand photos, I chose to go with the as-is portrayal of the Sand Land Tank 104 model kit. I'm pleased with it! It looks fantastic, and the moveable turret, artillery door, and side doors are nice touches. Now that I've taken photos, I am tempted to remove the Beelzebub, Thief, and Lao, since it does feel like those would only be a really good addition when painted. But it's still a fun kit that's easy to build over the course of under two hours, and it looks great once its down.

More information has come out for the new version of March 7th in Honkai: Star Rail. She'll be a four-star Imaginary Hunt character.
This version of March 7th is wearing a Xianzhou-inspired outfit and she wields twin blades. She learned how to use the weapons from Yunli and Yanqing, who are both young sword prodigies from their respective Xianzhou ships. In order to unlock this new path for March 7th, you'll need to participate in the Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.3 flagship event. This implies that, unlike how Dan Heng has a separate five-star Imbibitor Lunae unit, this is closer to how you can swap paths for Trailblazer.
HoYoVerse first revealed this alternate form of March 7th during the Summer Game Fest 2024. While most of the trailer focused on Firefly and the Trailblazer, she made a surprise appearance close to the end of the trailer. As information on her didn't appear in the special program (which detailed kits for Jade and Firefly), we will have to wait a bit closer to the release date of 2.3 to know how she'll play.
Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Version 2.3 of Honkai: Star Rail will launch on June 19, 2024.

The 2024 Wholesome Direct aired on June 8, 2024, featuring over 70 cozy, uplifting games from indie and renown developers worldwide. As it is now a regular staple of the Summer Games Fest , the showcase spotlighted exclusive announcements, release date reveals, demo reveals, and platform announcements for a variety of games. During the 2024 edition of the Future of Play Direct, Glitch showcased over 30 upcoming indie games. In addition, renowned Japanese composer Motoi Sakuraba appeared during the lead up to the showcase to promote ALZARA Radiant Echoes, one of the games featured during the event, and one of the composer's next works.
ALZARA Radiant Echoes is a turn-based RPG inspired by classic Japanese roleplaying games and the setting of the Mediterranean Sea, and is set to release in 2026. Some other titles shown during the presentation include Zodiac XX: Leo, a stylish underwater arcade piloting game in which players undercover a sci-fi political drama while taking the role of the ZODIAC squadron. From the developers of Unsighted comes Abyss X Zero, a 3D Metroidvania with low poly visuals where players play as the heroes known as Codename A and Codename Z.

There have been Oshi no Ko moments and manga volumes that make it absolutely feel like Aqua and Akane are getting moments to shine. However, this has never been more clear with the sixth volume. Now that the Tokyo Blade stage play is in full-swing, we're also getting major reveals and development between the two leads.
Editor's Note: There are spoilers for previous volumes up to and story beats from Oshi no Ko volume 6.
This Tokyo Blade arc in the Oshi no Ko manga brings together a number of major and minor characters, however on opposing sides. So Kana Arima and Melt Narushima are among the "heroes," while Aqua Hoshino and fake girlfriend Akane Kurokawa are the major villains. This also involves an actual rivalry behind the scenes. However, we've only really seen Kana's side of things until now. Past volumes looked at her past as a child star and why she sees Akane as such competition. (She's popular and is dating Aqua.) Now, we're seeing things from the other side.
Initially, the focus is on some development between Aqua and Akane that is tied to their "relationship" in Oshi no Ko. We see him let her in on exactly why he's trying to succeed in show business. (He wants to get revenge on his mother Ai's killer.) She then agrees to not only support him, but aid his cause. She brings up her reasoning why, and also suggests that as her "boyfriend" he should also assist with her goal of besting Kana.
This leads to opportunities to see both characters' growth, as well as insights into who they are and what drives them. Aqua is dealing with PTSD both from his past and present life. As such, it makes tapping into and dealing with emotions difficult. However, to assist Akane and make the stage play a success, he'll need to do so. So we see his determination to overcome things for the sake of his personal goals.
Meanwhile, with Akane we're getting a chance to see how her past encounters with Kana shaped her present in Oshi no Ko. We see how admiration and her own drive influenced her goals. There are also shades of "never meet your heroes" here, which is especially fun given the execution of the manga. After all, we've been exposed to Kana more often up until this point and seen her viewpoint. Now we're seeing Akane and her encounters with Kana, and Kana ends up being an antagonist in that story. We're able to appreciate her desire to overcome, which makes the course of this volume feel like it really pays off.
This also means this volume of the Oshi no Ko manga is again doing a great job of setting up the future actions of characters like Akane and Aqua, while teasing major updates in their career. Akane's goal is to surpass Kana's performance in Tokyo Blade. The volume leaves off right as we're about to see if that's possible. (And not knowing who to root for, since both are sympathetic leads.) Aqua's goal is to get closer to Ai's killer, and Tokyo Blade's success and Akane's help could assist with that. It continues to develop wonderfully.
Volume 6 of Oshi no Ko is available now, and Yen Press will release volume 7 of the manga on August 20, 2024. The anime is streaming on HIDIVE.

Just a month after the debut of Akuma and end of the Year 1 Character Pass, Street Fighter 6 gameplay for M Bison appeared. He's the first Year 2 Character Pass DLC launching on June 26, 2024, and his first trailer is now live.
The M Bison Street Fighter 6 gameplay trailer begins with him riding in on a horse. After someone takes a picture of him, he asks, "Do I resemble this man you call Bison? I shall take that name for myself." We then get to see him fight Juri in a stage that looks like a ruined laboratory. It begins with his new look, but at the 1:20 mark he appears in his classic uniform.

In addition, the official social media account for Street Fighter showed some concept art. It highlighted Vega, aka M Bison, paying particular attention to his face, gloves, and boots. His character page is also live on the official site, though it doesn't show his command list, frame data, or costumes yet.
We already know who will join M Bison in the Year 2 Character Pass. Fellow Street Fighter cast member Elena will return. So will Fatal Fury and KOF staples Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui.

Atlus and Sega revealed the release date for the upcoming Episode Aigis DLC for Persona 3: Reload. Players who own the expansion pass or pick it up at launch will have the chance to explore the Abyss of Time as Aigis on September 10, 2024.
The Episode Aigis DLC, also known as The Answer, is available as part of the game's Expansion Pass and originally appeared in the FES edition of Persona 3. The DLC will allow players to directly control Aigis as the team encounter mysterious figure called Metis in a follow-up to the main game. The release date was announced with a new trailer showing some gameplay and cutscenes of the game, including Metis summoning her persona Psyche and Aigis' victory screen.

Back in May 2024, Atlus released another DLC pack for the game including a set of Velvet room-themed costumes and background music tracks. That same month, Genda GiGO Entertainment also announced the return of Persona 3-themed Taiyaki and drinks for a limited time.
The Persona 3: Reload Episode Aigis DLC will release on September 10, 2024. The main game is already available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is also available via Xbox Game Pass.
