Bandai Namco released the Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch on July 11, 2024. The modern flight shooting game has thus become available to play on Nintendo's latest console to date in both docked and portable modes.
The Nintendo Switch release comes included with content that prior platform releases used to have as Season Pass or pre-order bonuses, such as the Music Player mode. Players can also access the three additional missions featuring the gigantic submarine Alicorn and five extra aircraft: ADF-01 FALKEN, ADFX-01 Morgan, ADF-11F Raven, F-4E Phantom II, and Avril's F-4E Phantom II.
The remaining DLC aircraft sets that add units like FB-22 Strike Raptor and MiG-35D Super Fulcrum are also available for the Switch version. However, Bandai Namco put them separately on the Nintendo eShop so players will have to make additional purchases to add them. This includes the collaboration pack from the Top Gun: Maverick movie.
Bandai Namco has also uploaded a new Japanese launch trailer to mark the release of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch on the game series' YouTube channel:
Ace Combat 7 originally came out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2019, with the PC version following shortly after in February 2019. The game set a new sales record with over 5 million units sold as of November 2023. Bandai Namco first revealed the Nintendo Switch port right around the time it celebrates the game's fifth anniversary in January 2024.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is now available on Nintendo Switch in addition to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Bandai Namco is working on the next entry as it prepares for the series' 30th anniversary in 2025.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the Japanese FFVII Rebirth discs with printing errors will be replaced. Players affected by the printing error will be able to receive the correct discs after filling a form and sending back the original discs with the printing mistakes.
The application deadline to fill the form for the exchange the FFVII Rebirth Japanese discs with the printing error is August 16, 2024. Afterwards, the acceptance period for the discs will be open from July 12, 2024 to September 30, 2024. Those applying for the disc replacement will have to wrap the disc in a paper bag or other simple wrapping and send it to the corresponding SIE PlayStation Customer Support Disc Replacement Head address that appears in the Japanese information website. After receiving the package, the correct discs will be sent after August 26, 2024.
As a reminder, FFVII Rebirth comes with a Play Disc and a Data Disc. The original Japanese printings of the game, alongside the discs in various East and South East Asian countries came with a printing error in which the contents of each disc didn't correspond with the label assigned to them. After the replacement takes place, the disc labels will correctly match.
FFVII Rebirth is readily available for the PlayStation 5, and the exclusivity arrangement ended on May 29, 2024.

Arma Bianca revealed a new collection of Hatsune Miku merchandise designed by the illustrator coalowl. The company has also opened pre-orders for the items on its Amnibus web store.
Items in this collection will range from tin badges costing just ¥550 (~$3.50) to thick acrylic blocks that cost ¥6,578 (~$41.50). Most of them will be available in two design variations: One featuring Miku with a tongue-in-cheek expression, and the other showing her pouting.
A majority of merchandise from Japan is usually only available exclusively inside the country, such as pop-up stores. However, the items in this lineup will be available for shipments outside Japan. The Amnibus web store contains a Buyee widget, and people residing outside the country can enter the items into the widget from the original site's cart page.

Build-a-Bear announced it is now selling the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter Fuecoco as part of its plush collection for the series. The online-exclusive bundle costs $69 on the US storefront, and the UK one is £55. Should you happen to see the plush at a store, it will be $34/£26.
The Fuecoco Build-a-Bear stuffed animal will be a fairly standard size. It is about 12 inches tall. When purchased in the online bundle, you also get a five-in-one sound chip with the cries it would make from the anime series. It also comes with a black Fuecoco shirt that features flames and Poke Balls on it. A purple Fuecoco sleeper, which also has a Poke Ball pattern and white accents, rounds out the bundle.

This is the second Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter to show up at Build-a-Bear as a plush. The first was Sprigatito. That appeared at the store back in July 2023. This means Quaxly is the only one of those three to not appear in the collection at the retailer.

Following in the footsteps of other visual novels like VA-11 HALL-A and Coffee Talk, Tavern Talk places you behind the counter of a medieval fantasy inn where you'll meet and serve a gaggle of adventuring customers. You'll hand out quests, as well as advice and drinks, influencing how various stories will play out from behind the counter of your cozy bar. While the tropes and motifs are well worn, they're also fairly well-executed and the game as a whole avoids slipping from "wholesome" to "cloying" as some of its fellow travelers do, even if it can play it a bit too safe at times.
Tavern Talk is primarily a visual novel during which you also have to serve drinks to your patrons, brewed from a number of stat-boosting ingredients. These start out simple enough. A patron asks for something to boost their strength, and you make the drink with a lot of the strength ingredient. Naturally the difficulty increases as you unlock more recipes and the requests get less obvious, but the game also mixes things up with the quest system. As the natural hub for adventurers in the region, your tavern also serves as a place for people to post missions (or for you to post ones pieced together from a the ramblings or rumors you pick up). Other patrons can then pick up these quests, but before they go they will often ask for a drink for the road. Whichever drink you serve can alter how they go about completing the quest and whether they succeed.
It's serviceable, but rarely challenging. Even with the addition of infusions, you rarely need to make more than the odd adjustment to a recipe. The entire time, I kept thinking back to a Honkai: Star Rail event called "Vignettes in a Cup," which had a similar, but slightly more involved, drink-mixing minigame that served as a more substantial puzzle. That said, you could make a good argument that a more complex system would only slow this game down and keep players from getting to the real draw: the characters.
Tavern Talk features a robust gallery of rogues (or fighters, or clerics, or... detectives), and each feels like they could be someone's player character. There's a grumpy dwarf that has no time for worldbuilding and wants to get on with the game, the stuffy cleric that rigidly obeys their alignment, and a changeling with the most rancid vibes I've ever seen. They bounce off each other well too, and sometimes buddy-up with interesting results. The edgy rogue and the optimistic kitten were a fun pair, as was the anxious elf taking charge of the imposing warrior woman. Their interactions also helped sell me on the setting, which I otherwise found to be fairly typical high fantasy fluff. The more I saw of how they talked about the world at large, the more lived in it felt.
Patrons can even bring back decorations they find on quests to spruce up your bar, though you don't get to place or customize them yourself. It's also a nice touch that Tavern Talk lets you open up a logbook at any time to read a bio on all your regulars, including their class and alignment. That last part was actually interesting to observe in the dialogue, as there were more than a few times I found characters agreeing (or perhaps, aligning) on certain topics despite having vastly different personalities. I usually despise the Dungeons and Dragons alignment system as limited and limiting, but here it felt less obtrusive and more like a consistency.
My biggest criticism of Tavern Talk is just that it doesn't really step too far outside that cozy comfort zone to re-evaluate things. To bring back a previous reference, VA-11 HALL-A (for all its problematic elements) used its 'worms-eye view' to show a different side of its cyberpunk setting, where you rarely have all the answers about whats going on and can do precious little when something happens to your friends and colleagues. It made the rapport you built with your regulars more meaningful, and in the end it felt like you had fostered a community that could mutually assist each other against the horrors of corporate dystopia. I never quite got that same feeling with Tavern Talk despite it hitting similar notes, or perhaps even because you have that little bit more agency in the story.
That's not to say the game fails, in fact Tavern Talk accomplishes everything it sets out to do: it has coziness in spades and plenty of entertaining characters to encounter. If you enjoy a gentle ride and the odd tabletop RPG, Tavern Talk will feel like ordering a favorite drink from your regular watering hole. It won't challenge you, but it might be just what you need to refresh after a long day.

Atlus and Sega announced that the Puella Magi Madoka Magica SMT Liberation Dx2 event is now live until July 24, 2024, bringing Madoka Kaname, Homura Akemi, and the Witch Walpurgisnacht to the game. This is tied to the new, fourth Madoka Magica movie Walpurgisnacht: Rising, which is due to appear in 2024.
First, there are events tied to Madoka Magica showing up in the game. One is a login campaign. That started alongside the event on July 11, 2024. If people log in for ten days total, they get 50 Madoka Magica Summon Files for the gacha and five Time-limited Monster Dews to recover stamina. In addition, "The power of hope, and a cursed destiny..." two-part event is now running, with Part 1 going until July 17, 2024. Part 2 will last July 17-24, 2024. Going through quests and missions during it can net you Auto-Turning Cogs for the event exchange. There are also special Event Genome Cubes with special Skills to earn and other rewards for completing quests like Madoka Magica Summon Files or the An Existence that Negates All title.
As for the three Madoka Magica SMT Liberation Dx2 event characters, all of them are Grade 90 five-stars. Some of Madoka's highlighted abilities are the passive unique skill My Prayer, which is notable due to one of its effects giving all allies a 2,000HP Bulwark with Fortify while boosting the party's attack and defense while the Bullwark is active. Her active unique skill It'll Be All Right. Homura's passive unique skill Time Traveler increases her Phys damage and adds Phys Pierce, increases her hit and critical hit rate, increases battle speed, adds Null Charm, and keeps her from dying from killing blows twice. Her active unique skill is called I'll Finish Up Alone. Finally, Walpurgisnacht has the Play's Editor passive unique skill that, among other things, gives her a Bulwark that is 100% of her HP and decreases damage by 100% when it is active. Her active unique skill is called Great Calamity.

Anime crossovers aren't uncommon for SMT Liberation Dx2. Berserkand Ghost in the Shellboth appeared in the game.

Good Smile Company has opened up pre-orders for Nendoroids of Kagamine Len and Rin looking like they do in the "Story of Evil" music videos. They're available separately.
Pre-orders will close on September 4, 2024. They cost 7500 JPY each from the Japanese store and will ship out some time in December 2024. Meanwhile, the North American store has them for $43.99 each. They'll ship out to the United States and Canada some time in Q2 2025.
Like most Nendoroids, they'll come with several optional parts and different face plates. The "Servant of Evil" Len Nendoroid will come with items like a sword and a brioche bun. His face plates are a calm face and two different smiles. As for the "Daughter of Evil" Rin Nendoroid, she also has two smiling faces, as well as a crying one. Her parts include a bottle and a fan.
The "Story of Evil," or "Daughter of Evil," series of songs first came out on NicoNico in 2008. Mothy, or Akuno-P, is the producer. Unfortunately, NicoNico is still down so it is impossible to watch the original video at the moment. In total, there are seven songs that all have an interconnected story. In this series, Rin is the corrupt princess Riliane, who is the twin sister of her servant Allen, though she's not aware of their familial relation. When Riliane is to be executed, Allen trades places with her.

Bandai Spirits has revealed a new SH Figuarts action figure modeled after Shinn Asuka from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom. The company will sell the figure in not only Japan but also the rest of Asia and the US. The figure will have a tax-inclusive price tag of 9,900 yen (~$61.25) in Japan.
This action figure will feature the depiction of Gundam SEED Destiny's original protagonist in the new movie that has been available to watch on Netflix and Prime Video since June 2024. Other than a gun, the package will also include a saber that Shinn used in a brief duel. In addition, the set will have multiple head parts with different facial expressions, including the series' iconic SEED eyes that are only available inside the helmet.
The owner will also be able to pose this figure together with SH Figuarts of other characters from the same entry, such as Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne. Bandai Spirits will also release an SH Figuarts of Athrun Zala in December 2024.

Nintendo teased a new game with a trailer called "Emio" on July 10, 2024, and the Australian video's rating mentioned suicide and violence as being in the project. This came up in that teaser, rather than in others, due to the ratings and descriptors showing up before the footage appeared on YouTube.
The ratings at the bottom of the image both note that the Nintendo game that the "Emio" teaser is hinting at is a "Mature" rated title, with the recommendation being for over 13 and 15. Both of the boxes note that violence is present They also both note suicide, with one mentioning "suicide references" and the other "suicide themes." The OFLC one, which mentions it being restricted to people ages 13 and up, also cited cruelty and domestic abuse.
Nintendo still hasn't mentioned anything more about "Emio" yet. The Japanese teaser site for the game is live. If you leave it up for a while, the background will change. When it does, the expression on the person in the background's paper bag mask will change.
The new "Emio" game or project is currently in development. Nintendo hasn't revealed any more details about it, beyond the latest Australian ratings that suggest some of its expected themes.

Square Enix often releases themed costumes for characters in FFVII Ever Crisis, and the latest Tifa gear is a Passion Mermaid outfit. It is designed to match her new Shell Knuckles weapon, which is a part of the new featured draw banner alongside the Barret Sharkslayer gun arm.
The Passion Mermaid Tifa gear, Tifa Shell Knuckles weapon, and Barret Sharkslayer gun arm all join FFVII Ever Crisis around the 2024 Summer's Here: Fireworks event. The Passion Mermaid gear has the Sun's Favor and Flameblade Arcanum R. Abilities, with the former affecting her HP and Phys. Defense and the latter boosting her Fire Ability damage. This ties in with the Shell Knuckles' C. Ability, which is Spinning Fervor. That deals Fire Mag. damage to one enemy, which will be stronger if her HP is above 70%. That also boosts her Fire Ability damage and MATK.
Meanwhile, Barret's Sharkslayer has the Dorsal Fin Shot that hits one enemy for non-elemental Phys. damage, can reduce Fire and Water resistance, and destroys Sigils. That also boosts his HP and makes buffs and debuffs last longer.
Here's the official reveal with art of both weapons. It noted that this banner will end on August 1, 2024 as well.

TechRadar reported that it seems UK-based chain store GAME will no longer be accepting pre-orders for games in-store, though they can still be placed via the company's online store. Existing pre-orders set to release before January 31, 2025 will still be honored, but all others are to be issued refunds. [Thanks, Eurogamer and TechRadar!]
Apparently the announcement came from an internal staff memo, and it has yet to appear on the company's social media accounts and site. Sources that spoke to both TechRadar and Eurogamer suggested the change is a result of plans to install new till (cash register) systems in store, intended to bring them in line with other companies owned by the Frasers group that acquired GAME back in 2019. Allegedly, the new "Enactor" tills are unable to process specific services GAME was known to provide, such as rewards cards, trade-ins, and sales of pre-owned games, and so the company has decided to discontinue the services.
GAME retail stores will apparently no longer be accepting in store pre-orders, though the company hasn't made any official announcements online yet. If things proceed as reports suggest, pre-orders set to release before January 31, 2025 will be honored, but orders for games releasing after or with unconfirmed release dates will be refunded.

Nihon Falcom updated the Japanese official website for The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria- with five more character pages. All characters in this batch share a similarity of having their debuts in the Trails of Cold Steel sub-series, so they will make their return in Kai no Kiseki, the series' latest entry.
The five characters in question are Rean Schwarzer, Altina Orion, Crow Armbrust, Fie Claussell, and Towa Herschel. Their original Japanese voice actors—Kouki Uchiyama, Inori Minase, Takahiro Sakurai, Hisako Kanemoto, and Ai Nonaka—will also reprise their roles.
Nihon Falcom has also shared new screenshots showing that Rean, Altina, Crow, and Fie will appear in fight scenes. Towa only has cutscene screenshots, as the company noted that she will only appear to support her former classmates.
Out of the five characters, Fie has been actively involved the most in the Trails series. She appeared in the first Trails through Daybreak entry as a supporting character, and a major update for the direct sequel added her as a full-fledged playable party member.
Nihon Falcom has also been teasing Rean Schwarzer's appearance in the new entry long before this update. The company included him in the second commercial trailer that it published in late June 2024. It will also provide Rean's instructor uniform from Trails of Cold Steel III as a bonus DLC costume for people who have pre-ordered Kai no Kiseki.
The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria- will be available first in Japan on PlayStation 5 and 4 on September 26, 2024.

The Evangelion Summoners War: Chronicles crossover event is now live, giving people a chance to summon versions of Shinji, Rei, Asuka, and Mari in their school uniforms and plugsuits. There will also be a "A.D. FIELD!" quest, Shinji-Obot Port and Rei-Mirror Lake dungeons, and a Ready for Battle! Stop the Angel Invasion! event.
Some of the events and activities don't necessarily start alongside the collaboration's beginning. The Ready for Battle! Stop the Angel Invasion! one that involves defeating Angels with Evas using Energy Coins is available immediately, with Energy Coins able to be collected via missions. Asuka's Energy Gift is already ongoing, doling out 100 Energy and 10 Quick Battle Permits per day until someone collects the bonus for seven days. However, the announcement revealed that the two locked dungeons that are part of the Shinji-Obot Port and Rei-Mirror Lake ones and tied to Asuka and Mari won't open until July 18, 2024. The five-star Water Shinji unit will be a collab dungeon reward.
As for the Evangelion Summoners War: Chronicles summon banner crossover units, there are some that are available now, and others that appear on July 18, 2024. All of them are five-star "monsters." You can pull to try and get the Water Shinji, Wind Rei, Dark Shinji, and Light Rei immediately. The Water/Dark Shinji both feature Lance of Longinus Skills, to connect to the series, and a Synchronization Skill. Meanwhile, the Wind Rei has Heat Resistant Light Wave Shield and Unit 0 Pilot skills, while Light Rei has abilities like A.T. Field Deployment and Even If I Die, I Can Be Replaced. The Fire Asuka, Fire Mari, Dark Asuka, and Light Mari art is available ahead of their banners' July 18, 2024 debut, but their skills are not.

SNK has announced that it will bring a new demo build of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves to Evo 2024. People who attend the annual fighting game tournament will be able to try out the new title ahead of its full release in early 2025.
This demo build will have the following five playable characters: Rock Howard, Terry Bogard, Preecha, Vox Reaper, and Marco Rodrigues. While the first three characters also appeared in the first demo build at Evo Japan 2024, Vox and Marco will replace Griffon Mask and Hotaru Futaba in the new list.
SNK is also preparing free merchandise giveaways related to the game in the venue. The company will give a neck strap to people who have filled out the demo's questionnaire. Visitors can also take a picture at SNK's photo spot and show it in an X post with the #FatalFury hashtag to get a beer bottle-shaped inflatable cheering stick.
The biggest highlighted merchandise will be fight stick buttons decorated with the game's characters. SNK will set up a versus spot using Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Those who manage to defeat two other players in a row will be able to win one of the buttons. They must switch out after achieving the feat, although they can also return to get even more buttons.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in early 2025. SNK will bring a new demo build of the upcoming Fatal Fury entry to Evo 2024, which will take place in Las Vegas on July 19-21, 2024.

Kadokawa has acquired anime studio Doga Kobo as a subsidiary. Doga Kobo is known for its work on Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun and, more recently, Oshi no Ko. [Thanks, Yahoo!]
According to a report from Yahoo, Kadokawa and Doga Kobo have been on amicable terms for the past decade. As part of Kadokawa's "global media mix with technology" strategy, it aims to increase its creative output and create anime, as well as expand its shows' IPs. With this acquisition, Kadokawa has strengthened its ability to create anime that can be popular and profitable on a global scale.
Ryuu Ishiguro, a representative from Doga Kobo, stated that the company has worked with a lot of different companies and people to create anime. Kadokawa is one of those companies and has been a good partner to Doga Kobo. Now that Doga Kobo is in a better place than ever, it will work hard to create even better works than it's released in the past.
Doga Kobo is an animation that was first established in July 1973 by former Toei Animation members. Actually, as of July 11, 2024, the company is now exactly 51 years old. Aside from the aforementioned Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun and Oshi no Ko, it also produced Koihime Musou, YuruYuri, and Chiikawa.
As of July 11, 2024, Doga Kobo is now a subsidiary of Kadokawa. You can catch Doga Kobo's current anime, Oshi no Ko season 2, exclusively on HIDIVE.
