Free tank MMO Armored Warfare unleashes new extra tough endgame mode

Despite war being an eternal focus in gaming, tank games are relatively thin on the ground. While there are titles like World of Tanks, War Thunder, Enlisted, and technically the Battlefield series, they tend to be the exception rather than the rule. Thankfully Armored Warfare also exists, a free MMO that's dripping with in-depth tank action. Now, that action has just ramped up considerably, as a brand new endgame mode has arrived filled with fresh rewards and tough challenges.

Stunning strategy autobattler Songs of Silence gets full release date

Some games are compelling through their art styles and others grab attention with unique mechanics. Strategy 4X Songs of Silence manages to do both, with hand-painted Art Nouveau visuals that recalls titles like Wildermyth or Nine Sols combined with 4X strategy that brings to mind Endless Legend or Age of Wonders 4. My particular pick for what Songs of Silence reminds me of most is Master of Magic, at least when you get into its autobattler combat with vast armies facing off against each other. After a few months of early access it's almost ready to make its full appearance on the scene, and you won't have to wait too long to play the final release.

Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader DLC dev asks fans to have their say

One of the key aspects of the grimdark far future depicted in the Warhammer 40,000 universe is the fact that the Imperium of Man just doesn't care about humans. Despite a triple-A budget, a team full of incredibly-experienced developers, and a generous offering of content at launch, Concord somehow became one of the biggest videogame flops of all time. The hero shooter was pulled offline after just a couple of weeks following dismal player counts, but at the time there seemed to be a shred of hope that it may return in a new form - likely as a free-to-play version of what originally was a $40 release. Who are the latest Fortnite NPCs? NPC locations change with every new Fortnite season, much like everything else, and more are added during the season as well. This makes it difficult to keep track of the latest NPC locations. That's where we come in.

There are a few reasons you might want to find a Fortnite NPC location in the battle royale game, from hiring some help or buying one of the new Fortnite weapons, to generating a rift from out of nowhere. There are often new hostile NPCs to defeat too, but if you're looking for someone a little more friendly, we have every NPC location marked on the Fortnite map, as well as a list of all of the special items or services you can buy in Chapter 5 Season 4.

New DBD stats prove that flashlights aren't as scary as killers think they are

There are few sights as chilling for killers in Dead by Daylight as seeing a whole team of survivors all equipped with flashlights. It lets you know that you're probably in for a nightmare of a match, with you being bullied on all sides by a bunch of P100 Megs all pulling off saves and stopping you from seeing anything. Following its fiasco with The Day Before, developer Fntastic assured fans that it was going to embark on a path of redemption and righteousness. Well, I'm not so sure, looking at its latest post in its community Discord. The studio is currently working on a new project called Items, and despite criticism for using volunteers to help get The Day Before out of the door, it seems the path of redemption and righteousness doesn't include eliminating free labor.      Diablo 4 Season 7 release date estimate

When is the Diablo 4 Season 7 release date? A much-loved feature from Diablo 3 makes its return in D4 with the (re)introduction of seasons, adding everything from new questlines to items, gameplay mechanics, and more. Expanding on the rich, gothic world of Sanctuary, Blizzard makes sure players have plenty to sink their teeth into, whether you're a fresh-faced player taking their first steps into Sanctuary or a grizzled veteran of the Burning Hells.

We're currently at Season 6, with a promise of four seasons a year. Given that there is at least one more DLC planned for Blizzard's action RPG game, we can assume there are also more seasons to come. While it's still too early for Diablo 4 Season 7 to have been confirmed, we can estimate a release date based on preceding seasonal content.

Disney Dreamlight Valley unveils game-changing new feature, huge expansion pass

I'm not exactly a cozy game person. Stardew Valley holds no appeal for me, nor does Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon. I spend my time trying (and failing) to score kills on League of Legends' Summoner's Rift, or battling my way through whatever new dark fantasy RPG has taken my fancy - I'm too competitive for relaxing vibes. Then, in 2022, I discovered Disney Dreamlight Valley via our resident expert, Danielle Rose. Every night I went to bed a little earlier to play it, illuminating my room with my emerald green cactus-themed fairy lights, but fell off when life started to get in the way. Its brand new content roadmap, however, has me eager to dive back in again - hopefully those lights still work.

What are the Black Ops 6 Zombies maps? Round-based Zombies is back with a bang, and we are loving it. So far, there are two fantastic maps available, with many more to come. Going by three hours with a preview build last month, the Indiana Jones of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle has the hungriest hands this side of Thief 2014. They're always surging into view, reaching restlessly toward objects as you explore, for there is ever so much to touch: photos and letters; pipes, frying pans, and other blunt implements; relics that translate into "Adventure Points", used to "unlock" books of skills; camouflaged levers and other chunks of fusty comicbook exotica that harbour clockwork secrets. Sometimes, Indy's magic fingers help you glean an object you need from the game's religiously-sourced piles of Lucasfilm memorabilia. Sometimes, they exhaust you: please, Dr Jones, for the love of George. Stop trying to pick things up. Let me look at "ancient history" for a while.

Recast English Voice Actors in SxSG

Since Sonic Generations' original release in 2011, the Sonic franchise has shuffled its voice cast (pun intended). As a result of Sonic x Shadow Generations' brand-new dialogue, many original voice actors have been replaced to match their modern portrayals.

Colleen O'Shaughnessey now voices Tails in place of Kate Higgins. She first portrayed Tails in Sonic Boom in 2014 and continues to serve as Tails' primary voice actress, including in the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. O'Shaughnessey was also present in the original Sonic Generations as Charmy Bee, which she reprises in Sonic x Shadow Generations.

Dave B Mitchell voices Knuckles instead of Travis Willingham. Mitchell has been Knuckles' voice actor since Team Sonic Racing in 2019. You may recognize him as Dyne from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Pulcinella in Genshin Impact, or Sektor in Mortal Kombat 1.

Bryce Papenbrook replaces Quinton Flynn as Silver. Like Knuckles, Silver was recast in Team Sonic Racing, though this is Papenbrook's first performance as Silver in a mainline Sonic title. Bryce Papenbrook is best known for his role as the English voice of Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan and Kirito in Sword Art Online.

Finally, Erica Lindbeck replaces Laura Bailey as both Blaze the Cat and Omachao, who were recast in — yet again — Team Sonic Racing. Lindbeck is known for iconic pop culture roles, such as Futaba Sakura in Persona 5, Loona in Helluva Boss, Black Cat in Spider-Man 2, and Barbie in various modern Barbie projects.

New Voice Actors in Shadow Generations

Mephiles the Dark in Shadow Generations
Image via Sega

Shadow Generations features characters who haven't appeared in a Sonic title in over a decade — sometimes two. While these characters weren't featured in the original Sonic Generations, most have new voice actors since their original appearances in past titles.

Before Sonic x Shadow Generations, Mephiles the Dark had only made a voiced appearance in the infamous Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), played by Dan Green. Robbie Daymond portrays Mephiles in SxSG, best known for his continuous work as Spider-Man in various animated Marvel projects, Goro Akechi in Persona 5, and Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Black Doom has also had a singular voiced appearance in Shadow the Hedgehog, where he was portrayed by Sean Schemmel (the English voice actor for Goku). Instead, Benjamin Diskin voices Black Doom in Sonic x Shadow Generations. Diskin has made a previous Sonic appearance in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric as Q-N-C but is most recognized for portraying Joseph Joestar in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Numbuh 1 in Codename: Kids Next Door.

Maria was voiced by Moriah Angeline in Sonic Adventure 2 and by Rebecca Honig in Shadow the Hedgehog. In Shadow x Sonic Generations and its companion anime, Maria is portrayed by Stephanie Sheh, the iconic voice actress for Hinata Hyuga in Naruto and Orihime Inoue in Bleach.

Lastly, Mike Pollock, the iconic voice of Dr. Eggman, continues to portray Professor Gerald Robotnik since replacing Marc Biagi from Sonic X onward.

Sonic x Shadow Generations is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Alvarez wearing the Monster Energy "Unleash the Truth" Operator Skin in Black Ops 6

If you're searching for distinctive skins in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 but don't want to splash out on CoD Points, then you're in luck — if you're a regular Monster drinker, that is. The CoD BO6 x Monster Energy promotion is live, and players can pick up free skins, a weapon blueprint, decals, and more by guzzling down a few cans.

How to get BO6 x Monster Energy Skins and Cosmetics

The promo page for Black Ops 6 x Monster Energy
Image via Siliconera

To earn exclusive Monster skins and other themed cosmetics, players need to purchase promotional Black Ops 6 Monster Energy cans and upload the receipt to https://callofduty.monsterenergy.com. In some areas of the world, such as the United Kingdom, this is done via ring pulls instead.

Here's everything you need to do from start to finish to earn exclusive Monster x Black Ops 6 rewards:

  • Purchase a can of Monster Energy with Black Ops 6 branding.
  • Visit the Call of Duty x Monster Energy promotional website and create an account. Link it to your Activision account if prompted.
  • Upload a clear image of your receipt or input your ring pull code.
  • Check your email for a code or claim your reward at the bottom of the website.
  • Visit the Call of Duty Redeem page, log in to your Activision account, and input your code.
  • Hop on Black Ops 6 to enjoy your reward!

Unlocking every reward requires you to guzzle down six cans total. If you only want the regular green "Unleash the Truth" skin, you only need to buy two.

All Black Ops 6 x Monster Energy Rewards

There are six exclusive Monster Energy rewards to collect in Black Ops 6. Each can awards you with a different cosmetic, plus 15 minutes of double XP. Any can redeemed after unlocking the final reward will only grant the XP bonus.

  • Can #1: Green Fury LR.62 Weapon Blueprint
  • Can #2: Unleash The Truth (green) Alvarez Operator Skin
  • Can #3: Street Beast Weapon Decal
  • Can #4: Cold Trail (blue) Alvarez Operator Skin
  • Can #5: Unleash It Weapon Decal
  • Can #6: The Beast Inside (white) Alvarez Operator Skin

The Monster Energy skins, blueprint, and decals can all be used in Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies modes. While these cosmetics aren't available in Warzone at launch, they will be usable once Season One starts. Thanks to Little Caesars (an odd source of CoD news), we know that Blops 6 Season One should begin on November 14, 2024. Thanks, BobNetworkUK_!

https://twitter.com/BobNetworkUK_/status/1848421146317779228

How to Equip the Monster Energy Skins in BO6

To use your new Monster Energy skins in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, follow these steps:

  • Enter your mode of choice and navigate to the Operators menu.
  • Select Alvarez.
  • Under the Operator Skin menu, select Unleash the Truth, Cold Trail, or The Beast Inside.

Zombies and multiplayer skins are selected separately, so if you're itching to show off your new suit as much as possible, make sure to do this in both menus. Note that Alvarez can only be used in team modes when you're assigned to Rogue Black Ops.

The first new unit in Zenless Zone Zero will be the S-rank Agent Tsukishiro Yanagi, and new gameplay footage shows what to expect from her.

Tsukishiro Yanagi will be one of the next Zenless Zone Zero playable characters released in the version 1.3 update, and HoYoVerse offered an idea of what her gameplay looks like in a new trailer. Basically, we get to see the new S-Rank Agent in action ahead of her actual debut.

Yanagi is a member of Section 6 in-game. This will make her the second playable member of the faction. The first is Soukaku, an A-rank unit that deals Ice damage who has been in the game since it launched. (You can even earn her for free by playing.) That group specifically handles Hollow activity. Yanagi's role on a team is to debuff enemies for the group. So since she is an Electric type unit, that means increased odds of Shocking enemies on her part.

The Zenless Zone Zero Tsukishiro Yanagi gameplay video begins by showing how she attacks with her sword. While she can focus on a single foe, the swings of her weapon mean she can deal AOE damage to a group in front of her.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N_o6OwOyd0&ab_channel=ZenlessZoneZero

Yanagi is one of two new characters joining the game. The other is Lighter, from the Sons of Calydon faction. He's the first male character in the group and follows the debut of fellow S-rank units Caesar and Burnice.

Zenless Zone Zero is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the release date for the 1.3 update is November 6, 2024.

The original Shadows of the Damned is a true cult classic. It combined the eccentric style of Suda51 with the tight, horror-centric game design of Shinji Mikami. Released in 2011, the game blended humor, horror, and a bizarre, grindhouse-inspired aesthetic. With Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered I was worried the game would show it's age, but after returning to it I think it's as special in 2024 as ever.

Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered follows demon hunter Garcia Hotspur as he journeys into the underworld to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend from the clutches of Fleming, the lord of demons. Alongside him is his witty, transforming sidekick Johnson, a talking skull that doubles as his weapon of choice. The game's irreverent tone, surreal atmosphere, and intense action quickly won over a niche but devoted audience, including myself.

When it first launched, the prospect of Suda51's unconventional storytelling paired with Mikami's mastery of third-person shooters was mouth-watering. It was an exciting fusion of two creative powerhouses, leaving a lasting impression on those who experienced it. But over time, the game slipped out of the public consciousness, becoming one of those hidden gems that gamers would bring up when talking about underrated classics.

Screenshot by Siliconera

On the technical side, my tempered expectations regarding what to expect from Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered were met. The remaster looks and runs well, at least on PC, where I encountered no serious performance issues. The framerate remained a steady 60 FPS throughout, ensuring smooth gameplay. It really adds to a game like this. Even if you can't notice the smoother frames you'll feel it while shooting.

However, there is a strange oddity concerning the PC port. That is, there are no graphical options to adjust. You can't even change the resolution manually, which is very strange in this day and age. The game does seem to automatically match the display resolution, and it worked great on my 1440p monitor. Yet, for players with unique setups like ultrawide monitors, the lack of customization could end up being a problem.

Visually, the character models experienced an upgrade, though they weren't exactly cutting-edge even back in the original release. The game's dark, surreal art direction, however, tends to add a certain blur over the visuals. This stylistic choice creates a moody, dreamlike atmosphere, but it can sometimes work against the sharper textures of the remaster. Despite this, the atmosphere remains intact, with the game retaining its gritty and bizarre charm. Plus, the addition of new costumes is a fun touch, adding a bit of extra flair for returning players.

Screenshot by Siliconera

One of the most welcome aspects of this remaster is its pricing. Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is priced lower than most new games. This makes it easier to recommend to newcomers and longtime fans alike. It's a good approach that respects the fact that this is, at its core, an update to a cult game rather than a full-fledged remake.

But the question remains, how well does Shadows of the Damned hold up beneath the updated visuals and smoother performance? The gameplay definitely feels closer to the original Resident Evil 4. The over-the-shoulder combat mechanics involve precision aiming and strategic use of Johnson's various weapon forms. It's still a solid experience, but certain aspects—like the controls and camera—can feel a bit clunky in 2024. Those accustomed to modern third-person shooters may find the movement a little stiff. However, it's more than serviceable, especially if you remember games of this era.

There's a certain charm in the simplicity of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered that stands out, especially in today's era of sprawling worlds and complex systems. The game's environments are compact and tight, creating an experience that is more focused and direct. The upgrade system is straightforward, offering just enough customization without overwhelming the player.

Screenshot by Siliconera

While you won't find intricate puzzles like in some of Shinji Mikami's other projects, the emphasis here is on action with a few clever twists. This streamlined approach fits right into Suda 51's offbeat style, allowing the bizarre world and story to take center stage. It's a refreshing reminder of an era when games didn't always strive for maximalism. Instead it's a more concise, focused vision.

Yet, Shadows of the Damned's true strengths lie in its story, dialogue, and aesthetics. The offbeat humor and imaginative underworld setting are as entertaining as ever, giving the game a unique personality that stands out even today. Garcia Hotspur and Johnson are a duo that brings much of the personality to Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. The story isn't particularly deep or layered, but it embraces its absurdity, delivering a wild, over-the-top adventure filled with tongue-in-cheek humor and innuendos.

Screenshot by Siliconera

Johnson's versatility as both a guide and a weapon, coupled with Garcia's brash, unapologetic attitude, creates a dynamic that's as entertaining as it is offbeat. If you're familiar with Suda 51's work, you'll instantly recognize the blend of irreverent dialogue and surreal charm that defines their interactions. This is a game that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is a wild ride that embraces its weirdness. Offering a mix of campy horror and dark comedy that's rarely seen in games. If this remaster gives a new audience the chance to experience Garcia Hotspur's journey in 2024, then it has more than accomplished its mission. Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is a welcome return for a cult classic that deserves another moment in the spotlight.

Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will release on October 31, 2024, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo logo - company published caution against phishing emails

Nintendo has shared a new Japanese press release that cautions its customers about phishing attempts that use its email addresses. The company confirmed that unrelated third-party actors have been sending phishing emails that use Nintendo's email addresses, such as no-reply@accounts.nintendo.com.

The company also shared measures that customers can follow to deal with those phishing issues. Nintendo cannot stop the malicious emails from being sent as those did not come from the company itself. It therefore instead asks the customers to consult their respective email service providers on whether they can specifically filter out phishing emails. The company also encourages its Japanese users to report malicious emails to the Japanese Council of Anti-Phishing.

Nintendo advised its customers against blocking all emails from no-reply@accounts.nintendo.com, as it would also end up blocking legitimate emails sent by the real Nintendo Account system. Should one were to input their account credentials on the phishing site inadvertently, Nintendo urges them to immediately change their passwords and activate Two-Factor Authentication.

This announcement comes as the Nintendo Accounts used to register users on Switch consoles have become the company's sole active account system, following the obsolescence of the Nintendo Network ID for Wii U and 3DS. The company announced at an investor's Q&A session in May 2024 that it will still use Nintendo Accounts for the Switch's eventual successor console.
