There's been a flurry of Lenovo Legion Go related leaks and rumors recently, some of which have suggested the company could be ditching the original Legion Go's unique detachable controller design. However, its size and high price, along with a slew of other recent rumors pointing towards a new smaller unibody Lenovo Legion Go S design, have led many to wonder if Lenovo would continue with its original approach.      Onimusha Way of the Sword release date estimate, story, and gameplay

What is the Onimusha Way of the Sword release date? It's been almost 20 years since the last new Onimusha game launched, and although the series was reportedly to end after Jean Reno made an appearance in Onimusha 3, there was a soft reboot a few years later with Dawn of Dreams. Well, it's time to sharpen that sword and make peace with your inner demons again, as we got a glimpse of Onimusha: Way of the Sword at The Game Awards 2024, along with a release window.

The Onimusha games play a lot like a survival horror game, only instead of shotguns and zombies, it's more katanas and demons. Set mainly in feudal Japan, the samurai game revolves around harvesting souls from your fallen foes, becoming stronger in the process, and defeating whatever big boss happens to be standing in your way at the time. Here's what we know about the Onimusha: Way of the Sword release date.

Essential Stalker 2 mod adds the one feature we've badly needed

Best mini keyboards 2024: top gaming picks

The best mini keyboards are much smaller than traditional full-size gaming keyboards. That means you can fit them in a more compact setup, as well as take them with you when you're traveling. Among the best gaming keyboards, there are several compact sizes, 75%, 65%, and 60%, making it easy for you to find the perfect balance between controls and size.

A 75% keyboard like the premium Asus ROG Azoth has three-quarters the number of keys as a full-sized, and will typically offer you keys for media controls and programmable macro keys with the function key rows.

65% keyboards like the Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed generally do away with the function row making an "Fn" key a necessity. Most laptops have a 65% layout, so if you use one regularly you will be very familiar with this layout and it's about as small as we would recommend for word processing.

Most 60% keyboards (but not all) will go a step further and remove the arrow keys, so they're best suited to games with a minimal set of controls such as esports titles like Counter-Strike 2. However, the Mountain Everest 60 bucks this trend by offering arrow keys and an optional numpad.

There's a lot to like in this space-saving category, and many of these mini gaming keyboards also fit into our best RGB keyboards and best wireless mechanical keyboard guides. If size is a priority, these are the best mini keyboards for gaming that we've tried and tested.

HDMI 2.2 could launch next month, because 4K at 240Hz just isn't enough

HDMI 2.2 could be launching in just a few weeks, according to a new leak, with the new standard set to bring improvements in bandwidth that allow for higher resolutions and refresh rates. That could mean next-generation graphics cards and gaming monitors might be able to push beyond the current limit of 4K at 240Hz, without the need to resort to image compression.

With displays such as the LG Ultragear 32GS95UE only just arriving and bringing 4K at 240Hz gaming with them, HDMI 2.2 isn't likely to usher in a new generation of even faster best gaming monitor contenders just yet. However, if this rumor is true, it won't be too long before we all start coveting even faster or higher-resolution displays.

One of the key Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 specs just leaked, and it's not good

A rumor about the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 has just dropped, and if it's true, it's not good news for the longevity of this future budget gaming GPU. This particular leak concerns the VRAM fitted to the new graphics card, and unless Nvidia prices this new GPU really competitively, the RTX 5060 could be in some trouble.

It's been a struggle to recommend the best graphics card under $300 lately, with the 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 being overpriced at $299, and the $269 8GB AMD Radeon RX 7600 struggling with ray tracing. It's an area where Intel has attempted to carve a niche for itself, with the $249 Intel Arc B580 specs offering 12GB of VRAM and faster performance than the RTX 4060. That situation is further complicated by a severe lack of supply of the new Intel GPUs right now, however.

None of these compare to The Witcher 3's Gwent, though. I can't count the number of times I've stopped Geralt in his tracks just so I could try to win another card to bolster my own deck. Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto Strikes in Bleach Rebirth of Souls Gameplay

We already knew both Sosuke Aizen and Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto would be in Bleach Rebirth of Souls from the release date trailer, but now there's a more focused look on gameplay for the head of the Gotei 13. The video goes over some of his moveset and shows him in a fight against Ichigo Kurosaki.

In addition to being head and founder of the Gotei 13, he's also in charge for the 1st Division. He wields the Ryujin Jakka and is known for his Zanka no Tachi Bankai and fiery attacks. The footage begins by showing how he has an Inferno Gauge that fills with certain types of attacks like his Signature Move. When maxed out, he enters a Hellfire State that  makes his attacks stronger. One such attack tied to that form is Spiritual Pressure Move 1: Shiranui, which casts ranged flames ahead of him. His Spiritual Pressure Move 2 is the same way. If Yamamoto isn't in Hellfire State, he'll use Taimatsu, but if he is he'll perform the fiery Nadegiri. His Awakening Bankai comes up at the 40 second mark of the new trailer.

Atlus and Future Press announced that there will be a physical strategy guide for Metaphor: ReFantazio. The hardcover book will launch in early 2025. The Amazon product listing is live and suggests it has a February 28, 2025 release date.

The Metaphor: ReFantazio strategy guide will be 592 pages long. It will offer a full walkthrough for the game. Among the other featured inclusions will be a Archetype Encyclopaedia, which goes over all of the different classes and their abilities, as well as unlock conditions, and a Bestiary that will cover the weakness of every enemy and boss. Builds will be suggested for each character too, in order to help with progression through the game at points. It will also cover the achievements and trophies available and note the requirements for them.

This book won't act as an art book for the title. However, there is a bonus feature that covers the design of things. A poster will be included. That will feature the Euchronian map. So if you look at it, you can use it as a decoration or to pin down places to visit while playing.

No sample pages are available for the book yet. However, the cover for it was already revealed. Here is how it will look when it launches next year:

This isn't the only new type of Metaphor: ReFantazio merchandise to appear. Atlus also started selling shirts based on the series. Those are Amazon on Demand items like t-shirts and hoodies.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is out now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. There is also a demo available. The Metaphor: ReFantazio official strategy guide from Future Press will launch in early 2025.

Hideki Kamiya joined CLOVERS after leaving PlatinumGames

In a Japanese interview between Hideki Kamiya and CLOVERS Inc CEO Kento Koyama and DenFamiNicoGamer, which the latter published shortly after the reveal of the Okami sequel, Kamiya discussed his departure from PlatinumGames. It also went over the new studio and Okami 2. [Thanks, DenFamiNicoGamer!]

Hideki Kamiya noted that he started having disagreements with PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba about the company's direction beginning around April 2023. The two continued arguing for about three months until July 2023, which is when they concluded that they could no longer reach an agreement. This immediately resulted in Kamiya's impending departure on October 12, 2023, even though the announcement would not go public until September 2023.

Even though Kento Koyama could leave PlatinumGames and establish CLOVERS Inc. in October 2023, Hideki Kamiya did not join it right away, as he set up a YouTube channel in the same month. Koyama confirmed in the Japanese interview that Kamiya had a non-compete clause that required him to be unemployed for a year. That's why the CEO was only able to formally recruit Kamiya to the company's ranks on October 13, 2024, in order to respect the clause.

Kento Koyama also has a deep connection with Hideki Kamiya, as the former was the producer of the still-barely-revealed Project G.G. Neither Kamiya nor Koyama know about the project's ultimate fate following their departures. PlatinumGames still has yet to provide an update to the project as of the end of 2024 either.

Hideki Kamiya's journey has come full circle with all the recent announcements. Okami was the last title he directly worked on at Clover Studio before he left it in July 2006, ahead of Capcom's dissolution of the subsidiary at the end of the fiscal year. When Capcom confirmed the Okami sequel at The Game Awards 2024, it also revealed that Hideki Kamiya and CLOVERS would be part of the new game's development team.

However, Kamiya also noted in the interview that CLOVERS would not be a simple rehash of Clover Studio. During a discussion with Koyama, Kamiya noted that the name CLOVERS could be split to "C LOVERS." After brainstorming the meaning of C, which started with Kamiya's "Creative" input, the two came up with three more meanings: "Challenge," "Craftsmanship," and a fourth C that would be up to each individual.

Kamiya also added that he is more interested in working on AA and lower-scaled games than the massive AAA projects. Near the end of the interview, he announced that—despite having split away from PlatinumGames—he would be completely open to collaborating with his former company by having CLOVERS develop a new game based on an IP owned by PlatinumGames.

As of the end of 2024, Hideki Kamiya is leading CLOVERS' game studio in developing the sequel to Okami for Capcom. The companies have yet to announce the sequel's release window and platforms.

The options to name include Acheron, Aventurine, Blade, Firefly, Jingliu, Kafka, Robin, Seele, and Sparkle.

Dress as G'raha Tia With New FFXIV Online Store Attire

Square Enix is honoring Scion of the Seventh Dawn and major Final Fantasy XIV character G'raha Tia with a new attire set in the FFXIV Online Store. The four-pieces of Ex-arch outfit items are all items based on his most recent clothing in expansions like Endwalker and Dawntrail.

G'raha Tia's Attire costs $12 in the FFXIV Online Store. The bundle consists of the Ex-arch's Bracers, Ex-arch's Boots, Ex-arch's Halfslops, and Ex-arch's Jacket. (His familiar scarf is a part of the top.) Anyone can wear the items, as they aren't gender-locked or specific to certain series. However, as usual, Square Enix warned that the pieces may look different on different races and shared screenshots of it on different body types. The items can also be dyed, and some of the variants were shown. You can only get the full set in this online storefront.

Here's a full gallery showing how the G'raha Tia FFXIV attire looks:

It isn't uncommon for Square Enix to release FFXIV Online Store outfits that resemble attire of established characters and Scions of the Seventh Dawn. You can pick up Alisaie Leveilleur's clothing for your character. Ryne Waters' look showed up there too, though the outfit wasn't actually named after her. Sometimes, the additional gear there can also add more options to existing equipment in game without the normal restrictions too. That happened with the Iceheart's Attire. You can find all of these types of outfits in the Costume Set category of the store.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

One Piece Gear 2 test in Kanji de GO Shueisha Manga Festival

Gotcha Gotcha Games revealed that it is gradually releasing Kanji de GO: Shueisha Manga Festival in Japan. The company has released the Japanese furigana typing game for free on PC, Android, and iOS devices. The PC version appeared first on DLSite, with a Steam release also set to follow suit at a later time.

This game features furigana quizzes based on terms from Shueisha's manga titles that have different pronunciations from the regular Japanese language. For instance, while the kanji word 決闘 would be normally pronounced "kettou" (けっとう) in Japanese, the game will expect the player to type "duel" in katakana (デュエル - dhueru) when it asks the term used in Yu-Gi-Oh. In another easy example, players will be expected to answer the "2" in Luffy's Gear 2 in One Piece as "second" (セカンド - sekando) instead of "ni" or "two." If the player does not know the answer, they can type "q" to give up.

The new Kanji de GO game will be playable in multiple modes. The Main Mode will generate random quizzes taken from all featured manga titles with an adjustable difficulty level and amount of questions. Players can alternatively choose the Pick-Up Mode that will exclusively feature ten questions from a specific title.

As a side note, Gotcha Gotcha Games revealed that it used RPG Maker Unite to produce this game. The company thus appealed that it could create a typing game using the Unity-based game development platform originally intended for role-playing games.

Kanji de GO: Shueisha Manga Festival is readily available for free in Japan on Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as on PCs via DLSite. Shueisha and Gotcha Gotcha Games are also working to have the PC version accessible via Steam.

FFVII Rebirth Photo Mode Screenshot Contest Starts

Square Enix announced a promotional endeavor for FFVII Rebirth involving its Photo Mode and screenshots. It asked those of us playing the PS5 version to submit images online by January 5, 2025, so they can be shared in a special gallery ahead of the PC version's debut.

The only prize for this FFVII Rebirth Photo Mode screenshot contest is recognition. There are no digital or physical rewards being doled out. People are asked to share images they took in-game between chapters 1-13, to avoid spoilers, then post them on X. You need to use the hashtag  #FF7RJourney24, follow the Japanese or English account, and also say why that part of the game meant so much to you.

After January 5, 2025, Square Enix will select some of images captured in Photo Mode to be a part of a special FFVII Rebirth screenshot gallery online and appear on social media. It didn't note how many will be picked. It also noted that some will be omitted if they don't adhere to decency guidelines or official image posting guidelines.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will come to the PC on January 23, 2025, and it is immediately available on the PS5. The original Final Fantasy VII Remake is on the PS4, PS5, and PC, and the third entry in the series is in development. FFVII Ever Crisis is also available worldwide on both the PC and mobile devices.

Awaria

The developer of Helltaker, Lukasz Piskorz, revealed that his new game Awaria is out soon. He made the announcement via social media, revealing the game will release sometime today.

Awaria is a top-down puzzle game about fixing generators under constant time pressure. Parts of the system will explode or fire projectiles that you need to avoid. After you do that, then you manage time effectively to get all the broken parts in an area fixed.

Appropriately enough for a game from the developer of Helltaker, the Steam page for Awaria promises potential ghost kissing in the final game. The developer also promised it will become a bullet hell in later stages of the game, as the challenge ramps up and more projectiles will be thrown at the player.

The soundtrack for Awaria, composed by previous Helltaker collaborator Mittsies, will release on December 16, 2024.  The soundtrack will premiere on YouTube at around 9am PT/12pm ET. The game itself will release "soon after" according to Piskorz, although he did not specify an exact time.

Awaria comes from Lukasz Piskorz, aka vanripper, who previously developed Helltaker. This was a game about gathering a harem of demon girls to your side. It proved popular enough to get a set of Nendoroids.

Awaria releases on December 16, 2024 for PC.

Stellar Blade Gets Santa Eve Costume in Season Event Update

Shift Up announced via the PlayStation Blog that Eve and her allies will be celebrating Christmas and the holiday season in Stellar Blade, as a free seasonal event update will launch on December 17, 2024. In addition to cosmetic changes in areas, there will be a new minigame to play in the PS5 game. We can also get Santa costumes to unlock for Eve, Adam, and the Drone in Stellar Blade

Some of the cosmetics happen automatically either when the holiday season approaches or you force it to happen in the options menu. That puts snowmen, Christmas trees, evergreen and light strands, and other decorations around Xion and Eve's camp in Stellar Blade when the season event is active. The two new songs in the jukebox are "Dawn (Winter)" and "Take Me Away." You don't need to unlock any of these. There will be a minigame that appears during this event, which involves what looks like a wreath dart board with a wrapped present attached below it. It seems hitting the mark causes the gift to drop and a reward to be earned.

The Santa Eve, Adam, and Drone costumes do need to be unlocked in Stellar Blade. Eve can get a Santa Dress, Santa Girl hairstyle, Snow Crystal Glasses, Sleigh Ear Cuffs, and Wrath Earrings. Adam can wear I'm No Santa. The Rudolph Pack turns the Drone into a reindeer.

Here's how all of those additions will look come tomorrow:

This is the second recent update for Stellar Blade. The NieR: Automata DLC debuted in November 2024. That's a paid bonus. However, the free Photo Mode update also arrived at the same time. That allowed everyone to take more detailed screenshots that were edited in-game. Photo Requests showed up in-game at the same time.

Stellar Blade is available on the PS5, and the Season Event update for Christmas arrives on December 17, 2024.

The speech bubble rings will be available via capsule toy vending machines at 400 yen per pull. However, regular purchases will also result in random items to emulate the capsule toy machines.

The Ace Attorney speech bubble rings will be available for purchase in Japan on Friday, December 20, 2024. Capcom will also place new capsule toy vending machines that feature the rings in late December 2024.

Kingdom Hearts Sora Crown necklace and earrings by U-Treasure

Square Enix and Disney revealed that U-Treasure has opened orders for new Kingdom Hearts necklaces and earrings. People in Japan can place orders for the pieces of jewelry modeled after Sora's Crown.

The prices and production times will vary based on the materials used. U-Treasure sets the price for the earring at ¥9,350 (~$60.80) and the necklace at ¥13,200 (~$85.80) when it uses silver, which also only takes a week to produce. The items are also available in K18 gold, which will raise the production time to seven weeks and the prices to ¥60,500 (~$393.25) for the earring and ¥84,700 (~$550.55) for the necklace. As another side note, the earring price is for a single item, so if one wants to purchase a pair, they must prepare double the costs.

Even though the U-Treasure website has a WorldShopping widget to support international orders, the new Kingdom Hearts jewelry has been specifically made to be formally orderable only in Japan. That means people who reside outside the country will have to go through an extra set of hurdles if they want to get these items, unlike those from other franchises like Monster Hunter.

The new necklaces and earrings featuring Sora's Crown from the Kingdom Hearts series are immediately available to order in Japan.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana Preview

While it's debatable these days whether or not Ys retains the status as Nihon Falcom's flagship series it enjoyed for so long, there's no question it remains an important part of the storied publisher's history. Ys X: Nordics, the latest in the series, is in many ways the largest and most expansive entry, and it seems to have gone over well with fans. With that said, there's a certain appeal to the simpler, more straightforward earlier entries. Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana offers a spruced-up take on a classic entry, and I've had a chance to go hands-on with the first several hours of this action-RPG set to launch on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4/5 early next year.

First, the obligatory background information. Back in 1989, Nihon Falcom decided to change things up for the third game in its successful Ys series of action-RPGs. While the first two games played from a top-down perspective, Ys III: Wanderers from Ys opted for a side-scrolling view akin to that of Falcom's 1985 hit Xanadu: Dragon Slayer II. Despite the dramatic shift, the game was received warmly by fans and saw ports to a number of computers and consoles. Subsequent Ys games went back to the familiar top-down style, leaving Wanderers from Ys as the oddball of the family.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Screenshot by Siliconera

When the time came to remake Wanderers from Ys, Nihon Falcom chose to use the framework of the original game and completely rebuild it. The then-recent Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim's engine served as the basis for this effort, which was ultimately released on Windows PCs in 2005 in Japan under the title Ys: The Oath in Felghana. While many of the the locations and main story beats were carried over, just about every aspect of the game was significantly expanded upon. The story and characters were richer, the dungeons larger and more complex, and the action faster and more furious. Japanese fans were delighted, but it would be a significant wait before Western players could get their hands on it officially.

Nihon Falcom bet bigger than most publishers on Sony's PlayStation Portable, and part of that involved porting many of its PC games to the handheld. In 2010, Ys: The Oath in Felghana was released on the platform, with a localized version coming by way of Xseed Games. While largely the same game as the Windows PC release, the PSP port added a few small quality of life features and some minor extra dialogues with certain NPCs. A couple of years later in 2012, Xseed Games localized the Windows PC version of the game.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Screenshot by Siliconera

From what I've played so far, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana appears to be based on the PSP release rather than the Windows PC original. This is mainly for the better, but those with sharp eyes and a great deal of experience with the PC release might notice some slightly lower quality textures here and there. In terms of new additions, you can now choose to play with Mieko Ishikawa's original Wanderers from Ys PC-88 soundtrack, Masaki Kawai's charming X68000 soundtrack, or Yukihiro Jindo's arrangements for The Oath in Felghana. There are some new character portraits, with the option to use the originals if you prefer. Adol also speaks in this version of the game, with new lines inserted where there was once only silence.

The version I played was the Nintendo Switch one, and I can happily report that it runs smoothly and has minimal load times. As well it should, but one can never know in these times. The game plays great, though it is a little odd that you have to use the directional buttons to navigate some menus while Adol's movement is locked to the stick. While I suspected this might be a lingering quirk of the PSP version, a quick check showed this to be a mapping choice new to this version. Nevertheless, you can find remnants of the game's original age here, like the inability to skip most cut scenes. The visuals are rendered at a higher resolution and have seen some clean-up, but at its core this is still a game whose roots lie in the early 00s.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Screenshot by Siliconera

Truly great games transcend time, however, and I firmly believe Ys: The Oath in Felghana to be one such example. The action is so fast, and that speed is thoroughly refreshing in an era where slower, more deliberate combat is the order of the day. Adol Christin is like a little red-haired Tasmanian Devil in this game, flying around like a whirling dervish of destruction. As you gain new abilities and level up, his capacity for chewing through enemies only grows. Bosses require a more strategic approach, but are no less frantic in their pacing. There's a bit of platforming in here, just enough to break things up without imposing too much on the action.

The story is similarly speedy in its pacing. There's enough meat here to give the adventure context and make the stakes more real, but you'll be zipping from one quest to the next without much downtime to worry about. There are side-quests to find and complete, but they're brief jaunts compared to those in many other games. Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a game that wants you to keep on moving, and the result is one of the more exciting action-RPGs you can find.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Screenshot by Siliconera

While more modern Ys games have a lot of excellent qualities, it sometimes feels like something from this era of the series has been lost. Revisiting this outstanding classic via Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana only reinforces that in my mind. So far, this is looking to be a solid update of a stone-cold classic of the genre. If the rest of the game proves as strong as what I've played up to this point, this might prove to be an excellent way to ring in the new year.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on January 7th, 2025.
