The Punisher is a playable hero in NetEase's mega-successful Overwatch clone, Marvel Rivals. He might be the most basic character in the game and is one of the first characters you play as in the tutorial. He's also maybe my favorite hero to play as, and I'm sorry to everyone I've killed as Punisher. I'm so sorry.

Nvidia and AMD have excellent year as GPU shipments hit over 251 million

A new report has revealed that the PC industry sold over 250 million GPUs in 2024. That's not just discrete gaming graphics cards, but also GPUs for servers and workstations, as well as integrated GPUs, with the entire market growing 6% year-on-year.

With PC gaming exploding in numerous ways, including the race to make the best gaming handheld, the presence of GPUs is expanding all over the place. New chips such as the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme found in the Asus ROG Ally house a full GPU in an all-in-one chip with the CPU cores, and that's in addition to the best graphics card models for gaming.

GTA 6 release date window, trailers, and latest Rockstar Games news

January 16, 2025: We checked for the latest GTA 6 release date news.

When is GTA 6 coming out? Given how many years it takes to create open worlds of the same caliber as GTA 5, it's no surprise that Rockstar Games has already spent years developing GTA 6. Rockstar prefers to keep its secrets close to its chest until close to the end of development, but Take-Two has now confirmed when exactly we can expect it to arrive.

The Grand Theft Auto 6 release date has certainly been a long time coming. Early gameplay leaks of GTA 6 surfaced online last year, along with lines of source code and development footage for the open-world game. There's been plenty of rumors and speculation surrounding the release date since then, but we finally have confirmation of the GTA 6 launch window, story, and setting. Here's all the latest on the GTA 6 release date, including trailers and news, right here on PCGamesN.

The best WoW addons January 2025

What are the best WoW addons? Blizzard's critically acclaimed MMORPG hides a lot of useful data it collects, and picking up a mod that offers a peek behind the curtain can be a literal game-changer when going up against deadly bosses. Of course, the best World of Warcraft addons aren't just aimed at avid raiders. Some are more focused on utility and freshening up MMO's geriatric UI, while others help track material nodes for those all-important professions.

With so many options, it's tough to know which WoW addons are worth your time, especially following the WoW The War Within. We've dug deep and tracked down the best of the bunch for general, all-purpose use in one of the best PC games of all time. Each addon will make your World of Warcraft experience far more pleasant, whether you're a raider, tradesman, or simply keen to level up fast.

After playing Civilization 7, it's clear Firaxis still rules the 4X game world

The past 18 months have heralded a small renaissance for strategy games. Manor Lords takes the municipal organization of Cities Skylines and crosses it with Age of Empires' feudalism. Frostpunk 2 explodes the bleak survivalism of the original into a high-level political drama. Ara History Untold is a more flexible alternative to 4X traditions. Millennia is playful, eccentric - an attempt at ventilating the genre's stuffy historicism. All these games have particular qualities, but after several hours playing Civilization 7 it's hard to imagine that Firaxis and its decades-old series will ever face a serious challenge. If you have to choose one strategy game (and given the amount of learning they demand, and the time that they consume, you probably do), Civ 7, right now, feels like the only real choice.

The best city building games 2025

What are the best city building games? There's nothing more relaxing than sitting down for an afternoon of city building games. We've lost countless hours lining up buildings just how we like them or scrambling to save a population on the brink of collapse (okay, that bit's not so relaxing), and occasionally, we've purposefully brought about that collapse to see how our citizens would cope. Not very well, as it happens.

Whether you're after a peaceful experience or want to wreak havoc as a god-like figure, our list of the best city building games offers something for every management game fan. Some of them are even on our best PC games list, so you know you're in for a treat, from hardcore colony builders with strict guidelines to welcoming games with stripped-back interfaces and fewer apocalyptic threats for genre newcomers.

How do you use the Monster Hunter Wilds bow? The bow returns in Wilds, and is one of the Monster Hunter weapons that has received the biggest changes, making it more accessible to new players, that's if you're able to manage your stamina and you like mid to long range combat, with the occasional close-range monster dodge.

The bow doesn't require any ammo management, making it a great option over similar Monster Hunter Wilds weapons such as the bowgun, but it does require you to keep an eye on your stamina as well as effectively manage a new trick arrow gauge. The best Monster Hunter Wilds bow build should see you switching between shot types and using your trick arrow gauge to land killer blows, let's take a look at how it works.

The survival game genre is suitably competitive. You've got The Long Dark, DayZ, Rust - in such a packed ecosystem, only the strongest can prevail. Back in 2014, The Forest dominated the survival world thanks to its intuitive base building and convincing first-person horror. In 2024, Sons of the Forest became a huge hit. Since then, however, enthusiasm for Endnight's sequel seems to have faded, and as it stands, the original Forest consistently gets more players on Steam than its younger sibling. After having a modest official showing at CES 2025, AMD has said that it wants to give its upcoming RX 9070 gaming GPUs their time to shine and not get "washed under" the information overload of the world's biggest tech trade show. The GPUs were unveiled in Las Vegas at AMD's press conference but were shown very little fanfare and the company revealed very few details about the new cards.

Meanwhile, even though AMD hasn't announced a release date for its next-generation graphics cards, we've already spotted RX 9070 XT cards on sale in some stores. We've also seen 9070 XT benchmark leaks and spotted plenty of 9070 XT cards on the CES show floor, but all without further official word from AMD. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Is Officially Steam Deck Verified

If you're wondering if Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is Steam Deck verified, Square Enix came in with an important update confirming yes, it is, on January 16, 2025. There's also a brief trailer showing exactly how the JRPG looks if you play it on a Steam Deck. This should also mean we'll have no issue playing it on other handheld gaming PCs.

As a reminder, at first this wasn't an option. Back in December 2024, Square Enix noted that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was not Steam Deck verified. When it did, it noted the team was working to change that and make it work. The goal was to ensure that would happen by launch.

Here's the official video that confirms yes, we can play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on a Steam Deck. It shows footage from the very beginning of the game, during which we play through a flashback to when Cloud and Sephiroth visited Nibelheim, met Tifa and encountered the events that would turn Shinra's greatest hero into the game's villain. The video clip shows both cinematics and in-battle footage for about a minute.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will come to the PC on January 23, 2025, and the second FFVII remake game is immediately available on the PS5. The original FFVII Remake is on the PS4, PS5, and PC, and the third entry in the series is in development. FFVII Ever Crisis is also available worldwide on both the PC and mobile devices.

Dynasty Warriors Origins branded Chengdu Tantanmen instant noodles

Koei Tecmo has revealed that it is working with multiple companies to release Dynasty Warriors Origins-branded instant noodles. The first one will be Chengdu-style Tantanmen instant noodles from Sanyo Foods' Sapporo Ichiban brand, which will be available in Japan on February 3, 2025.

The instant noodle cups will appear with four different lid designs, but the content inside will be the same nevertheless. The Wei, Wu, and Shu lids will feature the three playable companion characters from each respective faction. The fourth lid will instead show Lu Bu and Diaochan.

As a side note, while Chengdu-style Tantanmen will serve as the basis for the instant noodles, the city of Chengdu itself is not even actually featured in Dynasty Warriors Origins. This is because the series' main characters have yet to explore areas around the city by the time the game's coverage ends at the Battle of Chi Bi / Red Cliffs in 208 AD.

In a separate announcement, Koei Tecmo revealed that it is also simultaneously working on a separate merchandise collaboration project for Dynasty Warriors Origins with Ichiran Ramen. The company will reveal more details on the latter at a later time.

The Dynasty Warriors Origins-branded Chengdu Tantanmen instant noodles will be available for sale in Japan on Monday, February 3, 2025.

My experiences with the Civilization series are more recent, tracing back to playing the mobile version of Civilization V, to the sci-fi Beyond Earth, before finally obsessing over Civilization VI with my family in multiplayer matches for hundreds of hours. This is one of the only strategy series I've enjoyed and my time with the Civilization VII preview build continued this trend, outside of frustrations with the new Age system.

To start, Civilization VII seems to be a stunning game so far, even on the Steam Deck. During my time going through it for the preview, it does not have the right update to work on Steam Deck the way it will at launch. That said, I was able to tinker with the title and found myself able to play it nonetheless. Surprisingly, it ran super well on the Steam Deck during my time with it. I encountered only one minor crash so far, while it looked and performed well. The level of detail is a noticeable improvement over the previous mainline entry in the series. There is so much to see on each individual tile in the world. From the soldiers standing atop pieces of farmland or how each building has its own intricate design, there is so much to appreciate about the beauty of the experience.

Better yet, the build I played also made it feel like Civilization VII could be one of the best in the series at easing players into the overall strategy experience. The general idea is to play as a certain famous person from history and rule over a civilization to win against the rival civilizations in the world. This is done through a number of victory methods, such as Culture, Science, and War. These methods all have their own style, such as researching various categories like Mathematics and building a Library on the Science side or going all-out conquest if you prefer to win via War. Thankfully, the tutorials worked quite well in the time I've spent with the game so far in two of the three Ages.

There are even aspects I feel like I understand better now than I did with the hundreds of hours I put into Civilization VII. For instance, each troop you have in your civilization has different functions. They can move around the map, attack others, or even fortify their defenses. I feel like I better understand more specific troops, like the Army Commander. The game makes it more clear the possibilities troops like this one have, such as gathering together other troops for army-sized invasion squads.

Civilization VII is also quite speedy for a tactical game in this genre. Sure, you can take a long time each turn to figure out what you want to do, but everything is silky smooth. Completing actions is near-instantaneous, and the game guides you well on what to do next. This even includes the best quest routes for your particular victory preference.

Perhaps my favorite feature are the neat little narrative moments that happen randomly. A scout may die on the battlefield. You get to choose how to remember them. The different options will involve different rewards and outcomes, which makes for a unique playthrough each time.

With all of that said, though, I feel like after spending time with the build that there is an elephant in the room with Civilization VII. The new Age system might end up being a problematic gameplay choice, and I was not a fan of at all in these early sessions. In past games, you had different eras and the like. In this game, there are distinct Ages.

For the purposes of this preview, I checked out the Age of Antiquity and Age of Exploration. The former takes place before recorded history. How it works is you pick a hero to play as and a civilization. I appreciate the openness this time around, with the possibility to choose between locations. For instance, Confucius doesn't have to pick Han China. He is able to pick other surrounding locales as well.

You then play through the Age you are in until it comes to an end. From there, it switches to the next Age, and you continue playing as the same leader. This is where the problem may lie. I feel like Ages felt a bit disconnected from one another in these early hours and experiences, unlike past games. You do play the multiple Ages in the same "match," but they are segmented off in an odd way.

What I like is you can switch your civilizations (within reason) depending on your location and leader. For instance, one could go from Rome to Spain between ages. The problem is how some elements don't make a lot of sense. While the rest of the game is clear cut and understandable, the Legacy and Ages seemed far from it. For one, there was a time my capital city changed between Ages to a different location. But I didn't get the option to make this decision.

I also found it unclear what exactly carried over from Age to Age during this early session. Some building types did and certain points did, but not everything. The whole system may end up being a bit redundant and awkward. In the past, changing eras was seamless and smooth. Here, my initial impression is that they were rough, heavily divided, and confusing.

I definitely need more time with the Civilization VII Ages system leading up to our proper review. But, for now, the new feature feels unnecessarily awkward and frustrating. Hopefully, it makes more sense as I come to understand its quirks in later matches. If you can look past this, though, I suspect Civilization VII could end up feeling like the fastest, most stunning, and welcoming game in the series yet.

It's been quite a while since we've heard about new games and an upcoming Switch successor from Nintendo. Typically, the company would go out of its way to make sure we were aware a system wouldn't be a part of a showcase. That happened with the August 2024 Indie World Showcase and Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase. The company made sure people knew the two, which aired one after another, only covered titles from independent developers and third parties.

There have been quite a few rumors about the next Nintendo console. For example, one that appeared in August 2024 said that the system would show up in Q2 2025. Allegedly, the company had also been showing it off to partners since 2023.

The new Nintendo Switch 2 console will show up for the first time in the next Nintendo Direct dedicated to the system on April 2, 2025, and the Switch OLED, Lite, and standard models are available now.
