EA prepares community tests for new Battlefield game as it follows Skate's lead

We've been waiting eagerly for news on the next Battlefield game for quite some time now, but that's all about to change. Back in September, EA's Vince Zampella, who took charge of the series following his work with Respawn Entertainment on Titanfall and Apex Legends, revealed some initial details. Along with the confirmation that the currently untitled new Battlefield game will return to a modern setting after the yo-yo back and forth between Battlefield 1 and V's World War I setting and the near future of Battlefield 2042, he also mentioned plans for a community testing program. Now, the publisher is ready to tell us more.

Kingdom Rush 5 dev calls for feedback as new DLC's Steam rating plummets

Tower defense games are a fantastic distillation of the strategy game format, so it's not too surprising that the likes of Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance, Bloons TD 6, Orcs Must Die, and Plants vs Zombies remain so popular. New Kingdom Rush 5 DLC Colossal Dwarfare, however, has landed to a surprisingly stark reception. Since its launch on Thursday January 30, the expansion pack has found itself with a dreaded 'mostly negative' rating. Just 32% of Steam reviews are positive, a far cry from the base game's excellent 86% score, and developer Ironside wants to know how it can change that.

What's Inside Counts in the Takahashi From the Bike Shop Manga

There are a lot of romance manga series that involve people who seem to be total opposites being a perfect match, but Arare Matsumushi's Takahashi from the Bike Shop isn't like that. Rather, it's a case of people letting misconceptions about people's appearances get in the way of learning who they really are. In the case of heroine Tomoko "Panko" Hanno, it's about discovering just kind and mature bicycle shop owner Ryouhei Takahashi is, as well as how right he might be for her and accept her for who she is. And the whole first volume is great about showing us with plenty of examples so we fall for the two of them too.

Editor's Note: There will be spoilers for volume 1 of the Takahashi from the Bike Shop manga below.

Panko is a 30-year-old office worker dealing with a relatively ordinary life. She looks pretty put together and respectable. She's been at her job for 10 years, even though she doesn't like her jerk of a boss and some of her more inconsiderate fellow employees. But we also see that she sometimes has a tough time sticking up for herself, loves manga, and adores some of her favorite comfort foods.

When an issue with her bike chain being loose causes her to stop on her ride home, she ends up meeting 26-year-old Takahashi. Initially, he's just a friendly stranger who happens to be around, identifies the problem, fixes it without asking anything in returns, and says she should get her noisy brakes fixed. She's intimidated by his punk appearance, but also seems drawn to him. Once she runs into him again at a vending machine and he offers the last Fanta he'd already gotten and she was hoping for after overtime, he points out more problems, she realizes what a good and observant person he might be.

Now, if this was just it, it'd make it clear that Takahashi from the Bike Shop is going to be a manga about how appearances might not mean anything and such, but it's setting up a genuinely sweet romance between two charming individuals. When Panko goes in for repairs, Takahashi was aware enough to have movies that also might be of interest for her to watch while she waited. She felt open enough to be herself when commenting on it. When she doesn't have enough cash on hand to pay, they go out to dinner as her treat. He's aware that the place she picked was "right" possible spot for what she "assumed" would be good. Him, already aware of her tastes and his own from observations, picks a cozier, homier spot they both adore, surrounded by friends.

But at the same time, it shows that some elements are true. When they meet at a later time and Takahashi sees Panko had an outing that didn't go as expected and involved a rude jerk, we do see him channel delinquent energy! While Panko can be open around people like Takahashi, his friends, and her friend and coworker Kimi, she also adheres to the responsible, quiet, agreeable 30-year-old she appears to be. So it walks this balance that shows how we do need to pay attention to each person's depths and personalities to get past more surface-level traits and appearances.

What I also love about Takahashi from the Bike Shop is, while the manga is presenting events primarily from Panko's perspective, we're also getting moments where we sort of see Takahashi's side of things. So when it starts, we're seeing from Takahashi's view as he watches Panko head to work. We already know he's been interested in her from some time and aware of her, but has been courteous enough to respect her boundaries and not interact unless she also seemed open to it.

The characters' different maturity levels are also fun. Panko absolutely has it together, but she also let her bike get completely out of order and is willing to eat bread that fell out of her mouth and on to a public sidewalk. Takahashi is younger, but he's running his own business and also steps in so Panko does not eat bread off the street. It's a good fit, and again also suggests that assumptions shouldn't be made based on age.

I just really love how Takahashi from the Bike Shop handles preconceived notions about who and how someone should be throughout the story, and how the manga handles the romance growing between Panko and Takahashi as it happens. Seeing her make her own realizations and decisions about her future, as well as how their personalities play off of each other, is really great. It's the sort of series that really makes you root for the leads!

Volume 1 of Takahashi from the Bike Shop will be available on January 28, 2025, and volume 2 of the manga will debut on May 27, 2025

Mr Mega Man Manga Gets Introspective

We don't really get to see Mega Man ever enjoying downtime in his games. Some spin-off series aside, he's constantly at work, dealing with robot masters and saving the world from Dr. Wily. It's a seemingly endless cycle. Except Mr Mega Man, a new manga from Yushi Kawata and Yukito and picked up for an English release by Udon Entertainment, suggests there is a "what's next" for not only Rock, but his allies and opponents. It's an introspective sort of series, for the most part, and shows what his "new" adventures might be like once he doesn't need to constantly fight for everyone's sake.

Editor's Note: There will be spoilers for the first volume of the Mr Mega Man manga below.

Much like the Mega Man games, the Mr Mega Man manga starts with an introduction saying the year is 20XX and setting the stage. Because Dr. Light retired, Dr. Wily also abandoned his schemes. As the world is peaceful, the robots formerly subject to their whims are also now productive, accepted members of society. Rock and Roll run a dental practice and get to be… happy and think about their lives. It's quite a change, and a welcome one!

To start, Mr Mega Man jumps right in by explaining what life is like in this new future for Rock and Roll. Because of the nature of their existence, the two of them both look human. He's was updated so often (over the course of the games) that it's easy for him to continue to be upgraded and repaired. That isn't the case for other robots. When he brings up this concern to Dr. Light and suggest that the Labor Standards Act should apply to robots as well as humans, his creator brushes it off. It's like, "Ha ha, robots are created with a purpose and to serve humans, so why should you worry about that?"

Mr Mega Man ends up getting really philosophical, and I appreciate that. Like when Rock visits Cut Man, the former enemy considers the nature of his existence and his appearance. He brings up how now that he ended up "forced" into being a barber, rather than a lumberjack as intended, he started considering how impractical his design was. He has to use scissors to cut hair. When he was logging, he tended to use chainsaws. Even as a woodcutter, it'd have been better to use plasma or electric scroll saws. Which got me thinking that yeah, he's right, his design doesn't make any sense from a practical one. And while Dr. Light insisted people make robots for certain causes, clearly this one didn't work out.

Later conversations between Rock and Roll, and later Rock and Guts Man, explain how the new Mr Mega Man robots differ. Yes, they're more modern and efficient. However, in the years since Dr. Light and Dr. Wily's past experiments and developments, cognitive circuits were removed. They're not a function anymore. Rock and Roll are lucky, as their original design and purpose mean they are still relatively timeless and applicable, but older ones not only have issues being fixed. There are rules against moving to modern bodies.

I'm not going to go any further and possibly spoil more of the volume for you. But I love how Mr Mega Man tackles issues. Rock and Roll are constantly concerned about not only their existence, but that of the people they knew and fought against. We see how humans relate to these older models, the restrictions they face, and how even someone who is repairing and helping them like Dr. Light can be dismissive. It's absolutely fascinating, and I'm so glad Udon Entertainment picked it up.

Volume 1 of the Mr Mega Man manga is available now, as is volume 1 of Little Mega Man.

Jujutsu Odyssey Roblox Trello and Discord links

Jujutsu Odyssey could become the next major Roblox hit from the sphere of anime-based games, and the game already has an official Trello board, along with an active Discord community.

The new launch went live earlier on February 2, 2025, and it draws a massive amount of inspiration from Jujutsu Kaisen. While the Trello board will serve as your go-to guide for information, the Discord server will help you bond with fellow players.

How to join Jujutsu Odyssey's official Discord

Joining the official Discord server is pretty easy, and all you need is a Discord account. Once you've created your account (or signed into your existing one), just click on this link. You'll be able to access all the channels that are present on the server.

The Discord community will be your go-to hub for everything related to Jujutsu Odyssey. This includes participating in general chats with fellow players and being on top of the updates. There's already a dedicated channel for updates, and expect to find a lot of new information in the days to come.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4Sfp9jcvUU

How to follow the official Jujutsu Odyssey Trello

The Trello board's purpose is to provide you with any and all information related to Jujutsu Odyssey. You can visit the Trello board by clicking on this link. There are different cards present on the board to provide you with all the information you might need.

Unlike the Discord server, you can't send any text or add any information on the Trello board. It has a view-only status for all users, but you won't need a Trello account to check out the information. New cards are expected to be added here in the coming weeks once we get new content in the form of future updates.

Special Event - Tundra Treasures

  • Start Date: January 31, 2025
  • End Date: February 4, 2025

Monopoly GO's latest special event is Tundra Treasures, a recurring minigame where you collect pickaxes and dig for hidden objects. As you advance through each level and uncover every hidden item, you'll claim dice, cash, and cosmetic rewards. The grand prize had 2,500 dice, a Swap Pack, and a massive cash bundle, giving plenty of incentive to work hard and obtain as many pickaxes as possible.

The previous event was a new variation of Peg-E's Prize Drop featuring emojis and board tokens as its main rewards. Peg-E's Prize Drop is a carnival-style plinko game where you drop tokens down a board and watch them bounce off various pegs before they fall into point holes. As you collect points, you'll advance through numerous reward tiers, with this version focusing on giving you dice.

Monopoly GO Quick Wins list - February 2

Alongside your regular events and minigames, Monopoly GO also has a Quick Wins list that gives you a small amount of dice and cash. Each day, you can collect various milestone prizes for finishing all three Quick Wins, with a weekly prize usually consisting of five-star packs or Wild Stickers.

Monopoly GO Quick Wins list featured image

Monopoly GO's daily Quick Win tasks are among the most helpful ways to get dice, cash, and sticker packs as a new or experienced player. These rewards can make a huge difference between completing your seasonal sticker packs and being just a few cards short.

Today's Monopoly GO Quick Wins tasks and rewards

Monopoly GO has three Quick Win objectives you can complete daily. These are typically quick and easy tasks you can finish to gain some small rewards and advance through a weekly prize pool. While early week rewards are small, the grand prize is usually a Five-Star pack, Swap Pack, or a Wild Sticker if we're lucky.

Here's a complete list of today's Quick Win tasks and rewards, updated on February 2, 2025.

Quick Win Rewards
Pass Go one time One-Star Sticker Pack
Four Tundra Treasures pickaxes
Three progress points
Land on Chance two times Cash
Four Tundra Treasures pickaxes
Four progress points
Collect one Sticker 20 Dice
Four Tundra Treasures pickaxes
Five progress points

What are Quick Win tasks?

Monopoly GO's Quick Wins are daily tasks you complete for weekly rewards. You'll receive five small prizes daily, including dice, low-tier sticker packs, or emojis. The end-of-week reward is the most valuable, ranging between a Five-Star pack, Swap Packs, or even a Wild Sticker.

Here are some Quick Win objectives you might encounter throughout your Monopoly GO playthrough:

  • Pass Go X times
  • Collect one sticker
  • Land on X space one time
  • Collect cash
  • Roll doubles X times
  • Upgrade X landmarks
  • Complete a Landmark Shutdown/Bank Heist X times

Since these are daily tasks, Scopely has designed them to be relatively easy to complete, even if you're a new player. However, you may still miss a few, especially if you're out of dice or don't get opportunities to open sticker packs.

How to find Monopoly GO's Quick Win task list

Monopoly GO Quick Wins button
Screenshot by Destructoid

Your Quick Wins list is available directly on your main Monopoly GO screen. After loading in and arriving on your board, tap the "Wins" button in the bottom left corner of your screen to find your Quick Win objectives. You'll also spot a timer until the list refreshes, your weekly progress, and a reward bar at the bottom of the screen.

How many Quick Wins can you miss?

In Monopoly GO, completing all three Quick Win objectives daily will grant you 84 progress points a week. You only need 74 points to get a week's grand prize, allowing you to miss up to ten points worth of tasks.

Monopoly GO Quick Wins points
Screenshot by Destructoid

However, one day gives you 12 points, so you can't miss a full day. Instead, you can have one day to complete the first task and skip the last two or two days to miss the third objective. As long as your missed tasks don't exceed ten progress points, you're in the clear for the week's end.

Tips for completing Monopoly GO Daily Quick Wins

Your exact strategies to finish your Quick Win tasks will depend on the day's objectives. While some days rely heavily on your dice rolls, others focus on upgrading landmarks and collecting stickers. That said, below are some tips for ensuring you complete all three of your daily Quick Win tasks and get your weekly grand prize:

  • Log on every day, even for a few minutes. Missing one day automatically locks you out of the weekly grand prize until the following week!
  • Try to finish your objectives early in the day so you don't forget about them later.
  • Plan your dice rolling, sticker trading, and money spending carefully. If you upgrade your landmarks before it appears as a Quick Win task, there's a chance you won't be able to finish it unless you have enough dice to collect more cash.
  • If you're not active in the sticker trading community, ask a friend or family member to swap one-star cards for sticker-collecting tasks.
  • If you run out of dice and need to complete a task like passing Go or rolling doubles, use resources like events, tournaments, and free dice links to obtain some more.

Good luck finishing your Quick Wins and grabbing some weekly prizes. Whether you're completing a Partners event or want to snag a five-star pack, hopping on and completing these is one of the easiest ways to get valuables items each week, especially if you're a new player who doesn't have access to thousands of dice and tens of thousands of levels worth of profile upgrades.

How to get all Crown Rarity Gold cards

Considered to be the apex of their respective expansions, you can get each of the gold crown cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket as a chance drop by opening their respective packs. That means that while Charizard, Pikachu, and Mewtwo are exclusive to their Genetic Apex variants, Mew, Palkia, and Dialga can be acquired by opening Mythical Island and Space-Time Smackdown packs, respectively.

Keep in mind, however, that each of the Gold Crown cards will boast a drop rate of below 0.2%. The latter will then be raised to 5% if you manage to score a Rare booster pack, also known as a God Pack. If you are like me and have yet to get a single Gold Crown, you can also acquire all of the cards by exchanging 2.500 of their respective Pack Points. But be ready to pull, as you will get a staggering amount of 5 points per opened pack.

Anime Adventures Assassins Contracts Event guide

The latest update of Anime Adventures has introduced the Assassins Contracts Event inside the game, and you can earn different rewards from your grind.

The event has its exclusive token currency, which will help you unlock all the available rewards. The highlights are the new units that are exclusively part of the Assassins Contracts Event. To unlock them, you'll have to earn as many event tokens as possible.

Best ways to farm Assassins Contracts Event tokens in Anime Adventures

The Assassins Contracts Event can be accessed from the main screen of Anime Adventures. You'll find the event icon on the right side of your screen. Once you click on it, you'll find different contracts that are open. These are objectives that you'll have to complete to get the rewards.

You can also create your own game, which can be played with a stranger or exclusively with your friends. Ideally, it will be better to complete the harder contracts as they will offer you better rewards. However, make sure to take on objectives that are feasible for you to complete.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db8lbkMvR6Q

Best ways to use Assassins Tokens in Anime Adventures

To earn Assassins Tokens, you'll have to complete the objectives. These tokens are best used on the event-exclusive banner, which has its own set of limited-time units. Additionally, we might get new items in the shop in the future that will be purchasable using these tokens. Either way, I genuinely feel that using the currency to summon new units will be the best use.

The shining lights of the event banner are the three featured Mythic units: Somber, Killstreak, and Legendary Assassin. If you manage to get lucky and pull a Mythic, there's a 33% chance for one of the three to spawn. There's the usual pity rate as well for those who won't get the rub of good luck.

Multiplayer in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

If you're into cozy games or Sanrio, then there's no doubt that Hello Kitty Island Adventure is the perfect combination of the two. While it's endlessly enjoyable to run around with familiar characters, it only gets better when you drag a friend along with you.

Playing with friends in Island Adventure comes with a long list of benefits, as well as some rewards that are only available through multiplayer. This isn't anything new for anyone who has played on Apple Arcade prior to the Steam and Nintendo Switch release on January 30, but if you're new on any platform, here's how multiplayer works and everything you can get for simply playing with a friend.

How does multiplayer work in Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

How to open multiplayer in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Screenshot by Destructoid

To invite someone to your game or join somebody else's game, just open up the Phone and select the "Multiplayer" icon. Here, you can grab a code and send it to your friend, which they can input in the same location to join your game. Whether you're the host or the guest, you'll need to work quickly. These codes refresh every five minutes.

If you're hosting, it's best to keep the multiplayer window open until your friend is connecting, as closing the window can cause the code to refresh, rendering the old one useless.

If you're playing on Steam, you can also very quickly invite any friend on your Steam friend's list, and they will automatically enter your game once they open up the Steam Overlay and accept the invite.

While playing with a friend, the guest will gain access to all of the areas, crafting stations, and unlocked characters that have been unlocked by the host, even if those things aren't available on the guest's own island. While a guest does retain access to their own inventories, resources on the host island are not shared until you reach friendship level 15.

Those are the basics; now let's get onto specific aspects of multiplayer in Island Adventure

Gifting items in multiplayer in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Giving gifts to a friend in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Screenshot by Destructoid

While a guest cannot give gifts to any of the characters unlocked on the host island, gifts can be exchanged between the guest and the host. Trading gifts with a friend is done in the same way as you would usually gift items to the various Sanrio characters.

Most items are eventually giftable, with clothing items becoming available to gift after reaching friendship level 13, but there are some items that can never be given as gifts, regardless of level.

Here's the full list of items that can't be transferred between two players as gifts:

  • Clothing Stand
  • Friendship Blossom
  • Friendship Bouquet
  • Island Bouquet*
  • Any quest items
  • Weather Island Stones
  • Lucky Star
  • Trophies or Trophy Pieces
  • Character Hats
  • Gudetama Outfit
  • Golden Crown

  • Holiday Sweaters
  • Event Currency
  • Character Gift Boxes
  • Strawberry Crates
  • Orange Sherbert Crates
  • Seeds, Seed Packets, or Seedlings
  • Chef's Station Recipes
  • Crafting Plans
  • Party Favors

Increasing multiplayer friendship in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Multiplayer leveling tasks in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Screenshot by Destructoid

As with any of the Sanrio characters residing on the island, you can also increase your friendship with any guest to your island. This is done by completing Friendship Tasks, which require you to complete certain things together. You can complete three tasks from each newly unlocked level per week.

There are a total of 20 friendship levels that can be completed, taking 31 weeks in total to reach level 20. The first five levels can be completed within the first week, with subsequent levels having more tasks to complete and therefore taking longer.

Here are a few things to remember when it comes to these tasks:

  • Each task must be completed by each individual player.
  • When it comes to completing challenges, each player must collect at least one token along the trail.
  • If items need to be collected and handed in, each player will need to give an equal number of the specific item.
  • Selfies must be taken by both players.
  • When required to decorate a Cabin, each player will need to host the other and allow them to decorate the Cabin that was gifted at friendship level 5.
  • Minigames must be completed by both players.
  • When a fish is required to be handed in, huge versions of that fish are not accepted.

When required to decorate a cabin, each player will need to host the other player and allow them to place the specific item into the Cabin that was gifted at friendship level 5.

Here's all of the tasks you'll need to complete to increase your friendship level in multiplayer and how many weeks it will take to reach each level:

What to do with Friendship Beads in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Keroppi will exchange Friendship Beads for old event items in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Screenshot by Destructoid

Friendship Beads are a special type of currency that can be exchanged with Keroppi for past event furniture items. You can only trade with Keroppi if you're the host during a multiplayer session.

The item available for exchange will change every week, with each item after the first costing 2 Friendship Beads each. There is no specific order to the items that can be obtained, so you'll need to visit Keroppi regularly to get your hands on past event items that can't be obtained elsewhere.
