Beloved story RPG Disco Elysium is coming back, in a surprising new form

Disco Elysium has earned itself a wealth of plaudits, and with good reason. The narrative-led adventure RPG remains a profound achievement in the way it crafts an interweaving network of stats, decisions, and dialogue choices that come together to put your own unique spin on its detective tale. As numerous spiritual sequels shape up for release at other studios, many involving developers who worked on the original game, the new-look ZA/UM reveals that it's bringing Disco Elysium back in a brand-new, surprising form.

Build your own authentic empire in Pax Augusta, a Roman city building game

We've all been guilty of 'I could have done that better.' With the benefit of hindsight we could have avoided two World Wars, saved Pompeii from ruin, and probably brokered world peace by now. If you've ever wondered what the Roman Empire would have been like under your command, then Pax Augusta is perfect for you. Tasked with building your own state that's grand enough to rival the seat of power itself, it takes all of the mechanics of city builders like Cities Skylines and the historical authenticity of Manor Lords and transports it into a familiar yet foreign setting.

Where to buy 9070 XT - AMD RX 9070 XT stock for March 13

Trying to find out where to buy the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU? Well, we're here to help you with that. We've checked the virtual store shelves of retailers around the world to find where AMD's most powerful RDNA 4 gaming GPU is either in stock, available for pre-order, or where you can set up stock notifications for the new card. We update this guide daily to ensure you have the best chance of spotting cards when they become available.

As our RX 9070 XT review showed, this AMD GPU is the champion of the mid-range market, with a fantastic price/performance ratio that makes it the best graphics card to buy for around $600. However, despite assurances from AMD that RX 9070 XT stock would be widely available at launch, cards sell out very quickly, so you'll have to be quick on the draw to grab one.

The official RX 9070 XT price is $599 / $865 CAD / £569 / AU$870, so that's the price you should be hoping to pay for entry-level versions of the GPU. However, card makers such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and Sapphire also produce souped up overclocked cards that demand more money, but we wouldn't recommend paying more than $100 above those MSRPs.

Best laptop games to play in 2025

What are the best laptop games? PC gaming isn't always done at a desk, reclining languorously on an ergonomic leather throne, gazing upon a gaming monitor the size of your front window as hundreds of snazzy LEDs light up your peripheral vision. As anyone who has attended a LAN can attest, hauling your heavy box of tricks around is not for the faint of heart (or arm, or back) and so you might be feeling resigned to taking a break from gaming in the event life takes you on a trip away from home.

Don't do that. Never stop gaming. Take your laptop with you and play games on the train. Play games on the beach. Play games in the laundry cupboard as you hide from your relatives. We'll guide you through which low spec games for laptops you will be able to run, and which won't cause you endless frustration trying to control them with a trackpad. If you're looking for a new setup, then check our hardware guide to the best gaming laptop.

All Elden Ring bosses in order

What are the Elden Ring bosses in order? The most defining moments in soulslike games are the tough boss fights. They can be tricky for several reasons: some are hard to hit consistently, and others can squash you with just one attack. The Lands Between is full of enemies, but you only need to beat 12 Elden Ring bosses to finish the game.

In addition to an ordered list of mandatory boss encounters, our list of Elden Ring bosses includes where you can find them, and what rewards they drop. We've also collated the top five Elden Ring bosses in order of difficulty, as well as some handy tips on how to beat them. Generally speaking, dungeon bosses are not as hard to kill as the major bosses. However, there are exceptions, so equipping the best Elden Ring summons and upgrading the Flask of Wondrous Physick with Elden Ring crystal tears can make all the difference in one of the best PC games ever.

Where to buy 5070 - Nvidia RTX 5070 stock for March 13

Trying to find out where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU? Well, we're here to help you with that. We've checked the virtual store shelves of retailers around the world to find where Nvidia's latest mid-range gaming GPU is either in stock, available for pre-order, or where you can set up stock notifications for the new graphics card.

Although our RTX 5070 review showed it to be a card that doesn't offer the best bang per buck compared to the performance we saw from AMD in our RX 9070 XT review, it's still the best graphics card option from Nvidia in this price range, even if the company's claims the RTX 5070 offers RTX 4090 performance don't really hold up to scrutiny.

Meanwhile, with the RTX 5070 release date now upon us, stock of the GPU is extremely limited. As such, you'll have to be lightning fast to grab one, if you don't want to pay inflated prices from scalpers buying the cards from trusted retailers, only to then resell them on the likes of eBay.

The official RTX 5070 price is $549 / $549 CAD / £549 / AU$1,109 for the Founders Edition card, so that's the price you should be hoping to pay for Nvidia's own stylish model. Other overclocked cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac might demand more, but that's the ballpark figure you should expect to pay for a standard, stock speed card.

Where to buy 5090 - Nvidia RTX 5090 stock for March 13

If you need to know where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, we have you covered. In this guide, you'll find links to online retailers in various countries that either have stock available, or include pre-orders or stock notifications. We update it daily to see if new stock has arrived anywhere. If you want to grab the most hotly-demanded graphics card of the moment, you're in exactly the right place.

With our RTX 5090 review proving the latest top-end Nvidia GPU is the undisputed new best graphics card in terms of raw power, demand for it is currently huge. What's more, the RTX 5090 is currently only dropping in very limited numbers, so you'll have to be quick on the draw to grab one in the coming months, especially if you don't want to pay inflated prices from scalpers on the likes of Ebay.

With an official price of $1,999 / $4,449 CAD / £1,939 / AU$4,039 for the Founders Edition card, that's the price you should be hoping to pay for Nvidia's own impressively slim card design. Other cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and Zotac can demand more, especially if they're overclocked, but that's the ballpark figure you should expect to pay.

The RTX 5090 release date was Thursday, January 30, at 9am ET / 6am PT / 2pm GMT, with stock becoming available then, although most retailers are out of stock right now. Some stores are operating a "notify me" service, so you can sign up to know when more stock becomes available, so if you can't find the card you want, you might be able to get a notification for when more stock arrives.

Mirthwood finally adds marriage in huge, smooch-filled update, and it's on sale

Stardew Valley truly pioneered the cozy game genre. It has everything from crafting to farming, and from dynamic villager relations to fully-rounded romance. As a result, it feels like every life game has to have those exact same elements - realistically, we all just want to smooch our favorite villagers. Mirthwood, a farming sim that transports Stardew's traditional mechanics into a hand-drawn, Fable-esque world, has sadly been lacking in the marriage department, but not anymore. The launch comes as Nvidia announces that RTX Remix is now officially out of open beta, with a host of new neural rendering features on the platform. According to Nvidia, you'll get around two hours of gameplay in the new Half-Life 2 demo, which will not only bring ray tracing to the classic FPS, but also a host of new features, including RTX Skin, neural radiance cache, and DLSS 4. Crikey, it's still looking rough out there in the industry at the moment, isn't it folks? Yesterday unfortunately brought the news that another online game is shutting down, with the studio alongside it. In this version of the story that we've heard all too often recently, it's Spectre Divide, a tactical free-to-play first-person shooter whose whole gimmick is that you control your own character and a clone, allowing you to switch between them on the fly.

It was certainly a fresh take on the genre, but our former reviews editor Ed did wonder if that was enough to set it apart from Valorant or Counter Strike. As evidenced by developer Mountaintop Studios' imminent closure only six months after the game launched, it was not.

One is that the game makes use of live generative AI: you can stuff its jaws with text, images and video to create items such as outfits and animate your pet humans, here known as Zois. Your Zoi's "actions and thoughts" are also based on "small machine learning" tech, which as the name implies is a teenier species of generative AI that commonly runs live on the user's own hardware. Going by the Steam page disclosure, the actual base game assets weren't AI generated, but then again, Steam AI disclosures can be rather unrevealing.

We've published a fair bit about the risks and potential abuses of generative AI tools in video game development, so we'll be looking at that in more depth when the game hits early access on 28th March. In the meantime, here's the second reason I'm cautious: inZOI's key selling point over its obvious (and massively updated) rival The Sims 4 is that it has photorealistic visuals, and frankly, they creep the hell out of me.

Nvidia's RTX 5000 series launch has been nothing short of ridiculous. Every time a new GPU hits the shelves, it disappears faster than a PS5 in 2020. The RTX 5070 Ti is no exception. Despite being one of the most anticipated mid-to-high-end cards in the Blackwell lineup, getting your hands on one at a reasonable price has been a nightmare.

I love a game that features some kind of cooking element, so I was quite pleased yesterday when Humble Games revealed they're publishing Town Of Zoz, a new action RPG that's all about fighting off rats from eating your crops, taking down baddies to gather up ingredients, and using said ingredients and crops to make some tasty meals. It's got wonderfully vibrant art and animation. The announcement trailer quickly won me over with the choppy, almost stop-motion-like quality of certain character models.

A few weeks back, a new AI generated content disclosure appeared on the Call Of Duty Steam page, reading "our team uses generative AI tools to help develop some in game assets". This followed several months of community speculation over whether the FPS was using such tools to fever-dream up cosmetics, and a Wired report (paywalled) in which an anonymous artist alleged that the 'Yokai's Wrath' premium pack used genAI assets, via PC Gamer.

As a disclosure, it's better than nothing, but only barely. While the admission of any GenAI presence is useful to those of us who would rather avoid it entirely, the description "help develop some in game assets" tells us very little. So who's at fault here? Are Activision skirting Valve's requirement to be purposely vague, or do Valve's requirements themselves invite vagueness?

While never officially announced by Bethesda, rumours of an Unreal Engine 5 remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion have been circling the proverbial dialogue pie since 2023, surfacing first via an alleged developer, then leaked court documents. Edwin wrote about its potential improvements to combat here, while noting that the same leaked documents also mentioned both a Fallout 3 remaster and Dishonored 3. This might well either prime you with a healthy dose of scepticism, or else have you running around the house shouting "Dishonored 3!" at your pets, as I do at least once a week.

As reported by Very Gary Computing, "noted insider" NatetheHate reckons this Oblivion remake is getting revealed "in the coming weeks' - a claim they say they've corroborated. "Nate claims the game will likely release before June, while sources have told VGC it could arrive as soon as next month".

Assassin's Creed Shadows will in fact be compatible with the Steam Deck, Ubisoft say, despite a previous tech Q&A on the sneaky-stabby ninja sim declaring point-blank that it won't. Announced on whatever the fuck Twitter is these days, the confirmation that Shadows will play nice with the Deck comes as a pleasant surprise – even without that prior naysaying, games with a GTX 1070 listed among the minimum specs typically don't cope too well on the handheld's frugal hardware.

Review: Ender Magnolia Blossoms Beautifully

Making a sequel to a beloved indie game is a balancing act. With new expectations set, how do you go about improving the previous title or making any changes? The through line in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is a more refined game than its predecessor. Instead of making things larger or adding new layers of complexity, the developers took what they learned from Ender Lilies, polished all its systems to be as immediately fun as possible, and expanded on the game's strengths to great results.

Ender Magnolia leans into its 2D action RPG and Metroidvania roots. The sequel leans into both of them in significant ways, such as introducing more significant traversal abilities to unlock and adding more varied combat options for players. While Ender Lilies had some variations in how to approach fights, you inevitably ended using very small variations of the most convenient and powerful Spirits, making some options overwhelmingly more popular to the point of other Spirits not being worth your time. With the Homunculus overhauling the way combat works as your new "weapons," players are encouraged to be more creative and try out different loadouts. This doesn't mean all issues are gone, but it does a great job at evening things across the board.

In the sequel, almost every single Homunculi is noticeably strong and there are a lot of combinations that work for dealing with enemies. Every Homunculi has 3 different abilities they can alternate with, but players are restricted to equipping only one ability per Homunculus, being able to have up to 4 active in your loadout. While your Primary Homunculus and starter Nola is the star of the show, which of her abilities you favor changes how you approach combat. Do you stick to the sleek and balanced rapier, or do you opt for a scythe that deals more damage in a wider area? Or maybe you prefer hitting hard with a powerful axe that deals devastating stamina damage?

These choices apply to all Homunculi and kept me constantly changing loadouts depending on the situation, something I don't usually do with most games once I've found a method that clicks. I appreciate that heavier and slower weapons have been buffed compared to its prequel, where fast combat was heavily prioritized over selecting your preferred fighting style. Similarly, automatic Homunculi are actually rather useful this time around. While not dealing as much damage as active abilities, they offer a solid option for players that are not as versed with action games, and one particular Automatic Homunculi ability is extremely useful against some bosses.

I don't mind the new limitations that Homunculus introduce, and increasing the number of tools you can use from 3 to 4 in the sequel feels very necessary. However, I miss the option to have two different loadouts like you had in its predecessor. Additionally, Primary Homunculi can only be used by themselves or with a Cooldown Homunculi mixed in. Meanwhile, the two Pressure Homunculi available can be used at the same time. While at a first glance they feel situational, this makes them extremely useful and a very powerful endgame combo that shreds boss health bars. This doesn't make Primary Homunculi useless, but I would have liked to see this level of freedom expanded, maybe allowing only 2 Homunculi on screen at every given time, adding some strategy to your choices of which buttons to press.

Exploration in Ender Magnolia makes the subtle trade-off of including more areas, while making them smaller and easier to navigate. There are only a couple of areas that are frustrating to explore, these being the sewers and the maze-like red forest, both of which you encounter somewhat early on in the game. While I had to put up with the swarms of rats in the sewers killing me over and over, this has already been patched, reducing the amount of frustration in this area. Because of areas being smaller, it's easier to feel like you're making progress and advancing through the game at a breezy pace. Unlocking equipment and various relics feels nice, and they generally feel more useful and powerful in Ender Magnolia. You also unlock Homunculi or obtain upgrade materials at a really fast rate. However, the second Primary Homunculi you can find in the game joins the party way too late in the game, by the point where you have your preferred team locked in and you have only the final boss to beat. It also doesn't help that he doesn't feel strong, his attacks are slow, and his damage output is low. Which is a shame, because his design is fantastic.

While abilities have changed, combat is still pretty much the same. You have a handy dodge with pretty strong invincibility and you unlock a parry button early on. This system has been expanded upon, with a specific equipment slot that changes the effects of a successful parry. Depending on your equipment, protagonist Lilac will either fill her special ability meter or summon magic fireballs that pursue enemies on a successful parry, among a handful of options available. While the parry window feels similar to Ender Lilies, bosses in Ender Magnolia feel tighter and less erratic, with their moves being well telegraphed. I can imagine beginners to the genre would have a decent time learning the moves and patterns for bosses and find great satisfaction in beating them. The various fights with Gilroy are a highlight of the game, reminding me of the boss fight against Julius in the first game.

Like its predecessor, Ender Magnolia is more interested in crafting a perfect vibe rather than overcomplicating things with an overcomplicated plot. The world is fleshed out enough while keeping things vague and mysterious, lending the Land of Fumes a strange and ethereal vibe much like Land's End in Ender Lilies. Both are places that have been consumed by the Rain of Death and the Blight that comes with it, seeping deep into the heart of the land, rotting and corrupting everything and everyone it touches. The main different with the Land of Fumes in Ender Magnolia is that magic-based technology has given an edge to its inhabitants, thwarting the corruption of the Blight and offering a better quality of life and protection to its people. This is reflected in the more advanced technology level when compared to Land's End.

The inclusion of a lot of varied dialogue between Lilac, Nola, as well as the Homunculus and characters you meet along the way, fleshes out the characters and makes for a rich tapestry of connections. I was a bit sceptic at first of this extra level of characterization in Ender Magnolia, as I really enjoyed the quietude of Ender Lilies, but the sequel pulls this off rather well. The story is also a bit more active and involved this time around. You can experience Ender Magnolia without having played Ender Lilies, but the game rewards returning players by having pretty substantial references to the first game, especially in Ending B. What's more, the main conflict in the story differs from that of Ender Lilies, while still having the same context of the Rain of Death and the Blight as its framing. The clash that Lilac and Nola head against the nation's Homunculi administrator Gilroy is compelling and the mystery behind everyone's identities is solved in a satisfying climax.

Another thing that carries over in the sequel is the beautiful combination of 2D visuals with subtle 3D models for characters and enemies, perfectly blending both elements. The larger variety of biomes and maps in Ender Magnolia makes for an even more impressive game visually. The use of parallax is even better as well, with a lot more details appearing on screen when compared to the more medieval setting of Ender Lilies. Environments have a lot more moving parts and complexity without adding clutter or reducing visibility. The gorgeous visuals go hand in hand with the understated and relaxing music composed once again by Japanese music group Mili. In essence, the artistic department of the sequel remains as stunning as always.

Review: Ender Magnolia Blossoms Into a Beautiful Adventure
Images by Siliconera

Ender Magnolia is a great time from beginning to end. The sequel takes what the first game offered and gives a more refined experience in a new setting. Similar to the first game, the inspirations in this Metroidvania are immediately apparent, and both games avoid taking any massive risks. However, it is the developer's own take on these inspirations and the commitment to fun combat and exploration that keep me coming back.

Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is now available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

Players will also be able to collect furniture and trinkets to spruce up their own home-base in between missions and even invite friends over to check out their pad with the new multiplayer mode that features both split-screen and online co-op that allows players to share campaign progression.

Alongside visual upgrades, the cleaning systems at play in the sequel have also been upgraded, making the relaxing and satisfying job of power washing much more realistic including enhance soap that clings to stains and takes care of the dirt more effectively.

PowerWash Simulator 2 feels like a natural evolution from its predecessor. The original game's design was all about eliminating anything that detracted from the pure satisfaction of taking something dirty and making it clean. PowerWash Simulator 2 is all about adding in even more avenues for players to achieve that same sense of satisfaction, with new tools, features and quality of life. We're really excited to see players dust off their power washers and get stuck into this brand-new campaign, that brings you even more to clean, and even more ways to release the pressure."

Cha Hae-In from Solo Leveling

Fans of Solo Leveling are eating really well right now. The anime's second season is basically soaring, while manhwa readers are treated with the series' official sequel — Solo Leveling Ragnarok. Noticeably, however, Cha Hae-In is missing from it.

Right from the get-go, Cha Hae-In was already absent. She wasn't with Suho, and the latter pretty much had to parent himself. And so, where exactly is she?

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Solo Leveling Ragnarok manhwa and web novel.

Sung Suho in Solo Leveling Ragnarok
Image via Tapas

Sung Suho's independent rise to power

Right at the end of Solo Leveling, Jinwoo and Hae-In unsurprisingly got together. Even during the series' special episodes, it was already revealed they had a child and named it Suho. Jinwoo started training Suho through his dreams, and Suho certainly was his father's child. Despite this training, however, everything would be reset as Suho woke up, making it more of a game than anything.

In Solo Leveling Raganok, things are much more real. The Itarim makes a return, and this time, there are more of them trying to power left by their fallen comrade. As such, Jinwoo literally had to go to space and keep them at bay. While Jinwoo was busy making sure the big bads wouldn't wreak havoc on Earth, a few weaker ones still managed to sneak to Earth. This caused dungeons to appear once more, awakening the Hunters' potential. Naturally, that included Suho.

When Suho was introduced in Solo Leveling Ragnarok, he was completely alone. While Jinwoo's whereabouts were revealed early in the series, Hae-In's remained a complete mystery.

Where is Cha Hae-In?

Surprisingly, even manhwa readers won't be able to answer this question, as it is still to be revealed in the comics. It is, however, explained in the web novel.

Hae-In's disappearance could be traced back to the moment when Jinwoo and Hae-In flew on Kaisel's back, sentimentally celebrating their 16th anniversary. Their sweet moment of affection was interrupted when Jinwoo had to deal with the dimensional rift that appeared in the sky. Hae-In, on the other hand, was supposed to head home, but things didn't go as planned.

Another dimensional rift appeared in front of Hae-In, then Kaisel and Hae-In flew into it. The two then end up trapped in the said rift for years. Since Jinwoo was stuck fending off the Itarims' forces, he was unaware of his wife's unfortunate fate. It would eventually be Suho's responsibility to rescue his mother.

The good news, however, is that both Hae-In and Kaisel survived the ordeal. Suho eventually reunites with the two when a gate connecting Hae-In's location to Ireland opens. Sensing his mother's presence, Suho naturally went to meet her.

Assassin's Creed Shadows has two protagonists and will release in March 2025

In a striking development, Ubisoft has revealed that the humble Steam Deck should be able to run Assassin's Creed Shadows basically from the get-go. Now, do keep a pinch of salt at hand, but I think this is genuinely great news, even if only from the perspective of hardware support.

This information comes from Ubisoft's official Assassin's Creed Twitter account, where the publisher claimed that it would support Valve's acclaimed gaming handheld with the caveat that the official classification of the game's performance was still pending. At the time of writing, Shadows is classified as "Unsupported" by the Steam Deck with no explanation as to what might be going on with it. Not a great look, but it's not a deal-breaker by any stretch of the imagination.

A crucial tidbit to keep in mind here is that Ubisoft claims the old GTX 1070 is a baseline minimum to be able to run Shadows at all. The Steam Deck APU performs roughly at the same level.

Assassin's Creed Shadows - Delayed to March 2025
Image via Ubisoft

Is the Steam Deck really that underpowered, then?

I was firmly in the "Steam Deck is too weak for AAA gaming" camp until very recently, when I gave Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a fair shake on the handheld. To be perfectly honest, you do need to cap the game at 30 FPS for the Deck to keep up with it, but come on. That's a ridiculously impressive feat for a tiny little APU running in a frankly meager 20W envelope. This same point was driven home further still when Ubisoft pushed out claims of AC: Shadows being playable on the Deck as well.

On that front, I'd advise waiting for third-party reviews (I recommend SteamDeckHQ's assessment, specifically). Regardless of that, the idea that Ubisoft might be championing its own flagship make-it-or-break-it release as Steam Deck compatible in 2025 is excellent news for the device.

Though I do use my OLED Deck a whole lot almost daily, I don't play cutting-edge titles on it. Instead, it's used for older games, like the awesome MachineGames Wolfenstein titles, and a whole host of indie releases.

Imagine my surprise when I saw that the Deck can pull its weight in Civilization 7, Warriors: Abyss, Two Point Museum, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Sonic X Shadow Generations just fine. To say nothing of the aforementioned Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which is a joy to behold on a handheld. I grew up with dedicated Java games on classic old Sony-Ericsson feature phones: to see a Steam Deck pull this off is nothing short of phenomenal in my book.

It's all too easy to forget just how capable the Steam Deck actually is in context. It's going to be particularly interesting to see how the Deck fares compared to the Nintendo Switch 2, as that'll be the next low-end baseline for years to come.

There are no two ways about it: the Steam Deck's hardware set is definitely getting long in the tooth by now. If you can't handle low FPS caps, it won't be a good fit no matter what you do with it, but I've previously discussed why a high frame rate isn't the only thing that matters when it comes to PC gaming performance. Besides, there's no denying one simple fact: the Deck is a neat and lovingly designed device that punches well above its weight. How much longer before that stops being the case? Well, that depends entirely on the specific games you're playing, doesn't it? The next Asassin's Creed game after Shadows is unlikely to do well on it, though.

The post Assassin's Creed Shadows should run on the Steam Deck, proving a curious point appeared first on Destructoid.

The 10 best easter eggs in Split Fiction - two main characters with dragons

Where would we be without cultural references? We surely wouldn't have Family Guy, but also less Split Fiction! The cooperative multiplayer game is filled with references to many games, movies, books, and media. Let's explore the best easter eggs in Split Fiction!

What are the best Easter eggs in Split Fiction?

It Takes Two

Cutie the Elleephant on the top of the store
Screenshot by Destructoid

Of course, the previous co-op platformer developed by Hazelight Studios gets a reference. Or well, more than one. First, there are plenty of billboards around for a drink called It Takes Two.

We also get a statue on a pet store roof referencing Cutie the elephant king who met quite the untimely end in It Takes Two. They feel like necessary references since so much of the DNA of Hazelight Studios' previous title is present here.

Akira

Akira bike in Split Fiction
Screenshot by Destructoid

This one is perhaps a little too on-the-nose, but we can't help but love it all the same. The classic cyberpunk manga/anime by Katsuhiro Otomo gets a direct reference right from the first level in Split Fiction.

Of course, since that level includes a high-speed chase in a cyberpunk setting, the classic Akira red motorcycle makes an appearance. This is definitely a love letter to how much the anime by Otomo still reigns supreme in media and influences many works and games.

Assassin's Creed

Screenshot by Destructoid

This is just a classic reference today. Once Zoe is on the rooftop of a building, she can take a leap of faith, and where does she land her jump? Of course, a pile of hay, so she can land safely without breaking anything.

This is, of course, a reference to the classic method of quickly and safely jumping off of a building in the Assassin's Creed series, which has been around since the first title of the series. Apparently, Hazelight Studios is a fan of the adventures of Ezio and Desmond Miles!

Dark Souls

"moonfire lit" on the screen

Of course, references basically have to include one of the most well-known game series of the last 20 years, Dark Souls. It happens in a dark cave, right beside the Moonlight Market.

If you go there with both Zoe and Mio, you will find a fireplace with a sword next to it. If you interact with it, both the main characters will sit down in contemplation and a classic pop-up will appear saying "Moonfire Lit". Too bad you can't switch weapons or upgrade your characters here!

Dune / Prince of Persia

The Persian city in It Takes Two
Screenshot by Destructoid

Who doesn't love this classic science fiction series written by Frank Herbert and brought to life on the screen first by David Lynch? Hazelight Studios definitely does, as is apparent when the girls have to traverse the Sands of Time (yup, that's Prince of Persia).

Zoe and Mio will have to ride a "Sand Shark", in a way that closely resembles the Fremen's use of worms of Dune to traverse the dangerous sands. It may be the slightest of reaches, but only very slight.

Sailor Moon

Screenshot by Destructoid

This anime has been going strong for years and it well deserves a nod. In one of Zoe's fantasy levels, she will change into the required outfit for the level and she executes a very particular sequence.

The way Zoe changes into the new outfit seems like a direct reference to the way Sailor Moon displays the heroines changing from ordinary schoolgirls to powerful goddesses (perhaps a slight exaggeration). Now if only we could also have a Jem & The Holograms little musical number...

Elden Ring

Of course, with Dark Souls, Elden Ring couldn't be left out. In the same Moonlight Market, while traversing the cave, you will see a huge dilapidated tower. Climb inside, and you will find a familiar table.

That is the Roundtable Hold, the area that exists outside of the Lands Between in Elden Ring. It's a place you can fast-travel to and interact with memorable NPCs. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do here, but all fans will love the little nod.

A Way Out

the two cages in Split Fiction
Screenshot by Destructoid

Again, another game from Hazelight Studios gets a nod but this one is pretty funny. If you head to the Isolation chapter, you will find two cages next to each other, with two characters inside, bickering.

They are Vincent and Leo, the main characters from A Way Out, another co-op game from Hazelight that launched in 2014. This is a cute little nod, but unfortunately, we cannot solve their problems so let's just leave them fighting. They seem to enjoy it.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Screenshot by Destructoid

Of course, the "gotta go fast" meme has to make an appearance. The way that Split Fiction does it is quite entertaining, though. It happens while Zoe is hand drawing and illustrating her story, you will see a familiar loop and a "gotta go fast" reference.

Interestingly, there was a loop to traverse in Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons as well, another co-op game with an emotional narrative. Perhaps we could call these two references in one? Either way, go fast or Sonic will end up back in the Green Hill zone.

Metal Gear Solid

We have to end this list with a pretty... solid Easter Egg. You'll find a level later in the game where you have to move stealthily to avoid being detected, and what better way to do so than inside a box?

This is, of course, a classic reference to the original Metal Gear Solid, where Solid Snake could get around enemies and levels by hopping into a box and hiding there for as long as required. Ah, those cardboard boxes and the lives they saved.

Destiny 2 Season of the Risen Battleground Cosmodrome

Rocket-powered Sidearms have been the rage in Destiny 2 since their first one was released in Season of the Wish. Now, Lotus Easter has entered the fray and has a host of new perks, which means new god rolls are out for PvP and PvE.

Lotus Eater PvE god roll in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 the Lotus Eater Rocket Sidearm
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Lotus Eater is a PvE monster and the first Void Rocket Sidearm to enter the sandbox. Void is already incredibly powerful, especially in activities like the Nether from Episode: Heresy. You'll get tons of value using any of the following perk combinations.

  • Launcher Barrel: Volatile Launch, Confined Launch
  • Magazine: Appended Mag, Tactical Mag
  • Trait 1: Repulsor Brace
  • Trait 2: Destabilizing Rounds

We much prefer having as large an explosive radius as possible in PvE, so Volatile Launch is the overall best choice for the Lotus Eater. Confined Launch has you covered if you don't want to trade explosion size for speed. Appended Mag is a blanket buff to this Sidearm's effectiveness thanks to a free extra three bullets in the magazine. Tactical Mag is an acceptable substitution with its faster reload and additional aiming stability.

There's a much larger gap between the top two Traits and the other possible rolls you can get. With Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds, you spread Volatile whenever you defeat an enemy and get a Void overshield for defeating any Volatile enemies. It's frankly a bit absurd, so much so that you can almost ignore the barrel and magazine perks if you get the two Traits you want.

Lotus Eater PvP god roll in Destiny 2

Rocket-Assisted Frame Sidearms aren't nearly as valuable for Crucible PvP as they are facing the enemies of humanity. The Lotus Eater, thankfully, has a few good options if you never want to take it off your build.

  • Launcher Barrel: Quick Launch, Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Trait 1: Reconstruction
  • Trait 2: Higher Ground

We're primarily using Quick Launch for its solid buff to the Lotus Eater's projectile velocity. Smart Drift Control offers a smaller bonus there, but its improvements to Stability, Recoil, and Handling are nice to have. High-velocity rounds combine well with either Barrel Perk to turn Lotus Eater shots into fast-moving engines of death.

Sadly, the two Trait perks don't synergize like they did for the PvE god roll. However, you're likely to be shooting down on your enemies with a Rocket Sidearm for best effect, making Higher Ground's immediate 15% damage buff a godsend. Reconstruction ensures you have access to as many shots as you can unload. So many, possibly, that your foes won't expect the constant barrage.

Those are our god rolls for the Lotus Eater in Destiny 2 PvE and PvP. Hopefully, your luck is good enough to get anything approaching them without needing to grind too much. May it take your Void builds to new heights.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide

If you loved The Long Drive and similar survival games, then you'll appreciate the soothing, but still exciting atmosphere of this one. However, it's not hard to notice that it's far more complex than your average auto clicker. To help you get on the road ASAP and turn you into a lean, mean road ragin' machine, I prepared this Dusty Trip beginner's guide with some tips sprinkled on top.

Dusty Trip Beginner's Guide: What You Need to Do First

Although the game's mechanics seem complex, you'll learn them quickly. For instance, you'll find it fascinating that doors are opened by clicking on them and dragging the mouse front and back to move them.

  • ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide door click
  • ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide door open
  • ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide door open motion

You can always see the controls in the left part of your screen, which I love. The devs even went above and beyond and made this feature contextual, which means you won't see a ton of stuff, only the ones you need to interact wit the item in front of you.

Once you get the basics down, you'll want to learn:

How to Build a Car in Dusty Trip

Okay, you're in the game. Let's get to work. You'll be ported to the lobby first, which contains multiple game entrances. Go to an empty one, select 1 player (although it's much easier with friends) and select Desert.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide

You'll now spawn in a house, with the task of building a car and getting the hell out of there. Now, you'll notice there are two options—a car in front and a van in the back. Pick the van for more space.

After getting the side doors and trunk set up, drag the engine and oil out. To set the engine, just sit in the van and press E to place it under the black cover separating the front seats.

Next, you want to get the radiator into the area right behind the headlights. Make sure it's right in the middle and you're good to go.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide
Screenshot by Destructoid

Press R to start the engine and you'll be able to get to the road sign. You'll have to drive a while before you reach the first building you can loot but expect a desert storm, too. There is no set path and it's up to you to explore the way you want.

How to Survive in Dusty Trip

As Snoop Dogg said a long time ago, there's six million ways to die. Jokes aside, there are plenty of perils in the game, so I want to devote this penultimate part of the Dusty Trip beginner's guide on the main ones:

Hunger. Pick up any food you find. There are several items in the house you spawn in, so be sure to go through every nook and cranny. Don't be wasteful, as it's okay to keep the hunger meter at 40-60% and just snack to keep it full.

Desert storm. You'll run into it around 1km, so decide whether you're going to wait in the car or go pedal to the metal and get to safety so you can explore. Whatever you do, just don't get out.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide
Screenshot by Destructoid

Enemies. Bandits, terrorists, mutants and other mobs will attack you when aggroed, but there's no point in getting near, really. Ammo is scarce and you'll have a hard time engaging more than 1-2 mobs. You can buy an AK in the beginner house, but it's not a necessity.

How to Find a Better Radiator in Dusty Trip

Since most of the game is procedurally generated, no one can say for sure. However, in over 100 playthroughs, I've noticed that it always appears between 1km and 3km in a garage or building. To switch it out, just dump it in the front section and take the old one out.

How to Get a New Engine in Dusty Trip

As you encounter sandstorms and thunderstorms, as well as more intense heat, you'll need a faster, more reliable engine. Now, there are two ways to do this—look up buildings to loot, as I've been able to find them in Houses, Garages and Warehouses. The other way involves buying it at the first shop you run into.

How to Survive in Dusty Trip Between 5000m and 10000m

Once you reach the 5000m mark, you'll run across a patchy bridge. It's a standard appearance around that mark, so you'll have to weave around the patches and holes. The good news is that there's no more ramp to traverse, which means less money is needed for TNT.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide
Screenshot by Destructoid

Next, you'll want to strategically spend your Bottle Caps at shops, especially when it comes to food. There will be a lot of terrorists and bandits shooting at you, especially after the 7000m mark, so you'll want to stay safe.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide
Screenshot by Destructoid

Inevitably, you'll run into a thunderstorm-terrorist combo, which you can surpass by driving in a slight zig-zag pattern in the sand, avoiding the slippery road.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide
Screenshot by Destructoid

Last, but not least, you'll run into car trouble mini-events of varying difficulties. Don't stop, no matter what, as either the victim or the hidden terrorists will start shooting at you.

Dusty Trip Tips for Beginners

Things can get a bit, well, dusty, so I've decided to spice up this Dusty Trip beginner's guide with several tips to help you get through the growing pains. Apply them wisely and you're golden:

If you want to save on fuel, step on it until you reach maximum speed, let the car go on its own and repeat until you have to stop. You'll be vulnerable to bandits and terrorists, so just be careful.

I repeat, go with the van. As a beginner, you're going to make mistakes and pick up irrelevant stuff, so give yourself the space to do it. Better yet, if your friends join you, you won't have to switch vehicles.

Speaking of vans, you need to attack a wheel onto the roof of your van. Why? Because it'll keep you from flipping over, as the surface isn't flat now.

ultimate dusty trip beginner's guide
Screenshot by Destructoid

Don't forget to CLOSE THE GAS DOOR, otherwise, fuel will seep out of your vehicle and you'll be out of gas quickly. Don't ask how I found out...

Attach metal sheets and boards to your car for protection against bullets. You'll inevitably be shot at, and unless you're heavily armed, there's no point in taking the bait. Thus, I'd say this is a key part of my Dusty Trip beginner's guide—get some homemade protection and just send it until you're in the clear.

Combine wheels for a faster van. I know it sounds like I'm trolling, but if you put two big wheels in the back and two small ones in the form, you'll be able to exceed 120 mph.

There's garlic in the basement, bread on the table and a burger in the attic. You'll need it to not starve in the first couple of minutes.

For speedrunning, you can get going with just the tires, radiator and engine. It might be tricky to evade bullets, but it's significantly faster.

And with that being said, you're all set to conquer the roads and put our ultimate Dusty Trip beginner's guide to good use. If you're up for some fun and you're looking to get as many tokens as possible, check out our full rundown of The Hunt games and join in on the fun.

Eyes Never Wake: a monitor shows someone's face via a webcam.

There are several ways a horror game can put you in a constant state of peril. Some developers employ clever tactics that break the fourth wall, such as listening to your microphone, and the upcoming Eyes Never Wake definitely falls under that category.

Developed by Allan Hedlund, this is an indie horror title that – as the description on Steam says – blurs the "line between game and reality." Essentially, Eyes Never Awake gets its kicks by allowing a pursuing monster to actually see you through your webcam, as seen in the footage below.

https://twitter.com/Hederlunden/status/1899879190687514806

In the teaser, we see the player (presumably the developer), actually ducking behind their desk as some sort of monstrosity seeks them out. We also see how the game scans your face through your camera. Hedlund describes the project as a "strange game" that's "not meant to be played."

What else will it see you doing via your webcam, I wonder...

For those who have concerns about privacy – given that the crux of the gameplay is in having access to your webcam – Hedlund tries to alleviate worries about intrusiveness. In a response to someone on X, they write the following:

...just know that the game simply uses OpenCV and OpenCV for Unity for face recognition which uses pre-trained models. Everything runs locally - nothing gets sent to any server or anything like that. And you can always turn the mechanic off at any time.

Additionally, in order to dissuade people from cheating by simply holding something up to the camera, the game will also check for "large uniform objects and other things." But, then again, if you're playing a game where the object is to physically hide from something that sees you through your webcam, what would be the point in cheating?

Eyes Never Wake doesn't have a release date yet, but as a horror fan myself, I'll be following progress on this one pretty closely. Maybe it's just a gimmick, but I like that indie developers are at least trying new ways to be immersive.

Knowing which are the best gacha games to dive into is a must before choosing what to play, as picking the wrong title can translate to investing your time and hard-earned money on a journey that might either underwhelm or only last a couple of years.

In case you are currently facing that decision and need a guiding light, don't worry. Here are the 10 best Gacha games to play in 2025 and what each of them brings to the table.

The best Gacha games to play in 2025

Zenless Zone Zero

Image via HoYoverse

  • Developer: HoYoverse (miHoYo)
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, PC, and Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: S-Rank Agent (or W-Engine) guaranteed within 90 pulls / Featured guaranteed after a loss in pity if on a limited banner. Pull count carries over.

To start our top gacha games list, we have HoYoverse's newest success, Zenless Zone Zero. Pairing a way more streamlined approach to character progression and a Persona-like feel when off the field, the game puts players in the role of a Legenrady Proxy, specialized in guiding groups within the danger-filled hollows surrounding the city of New Eridu.

ZZZ's fast-paced combat is also an absolute highlight, as it makes full use of its high production value —which can be seen in spades in the quality of its cutscenes and overall presentation— to offer a visual spectacle that, unlike those of its developer's earlier works, favors execution and mobility. The way both of its best A-Rank supports are given for free is also a huge plus here, although you will still need dupes to awaken their full potential.

Wuthering Waves

The key art for Wuthering Waves 2.0.
Image via Kuro Games

  • Developer: Kuro Games
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, PC, and Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: 5-star Resonator (or weapon) guaranteed within 80 pulls / Featured unit/weapon guaranteed after a loss in pity. Pull count carries over.

A game that sees players take on the role of the mysterious Rover as they explore the world of Solaris-3 in the hopes of finding their lost memories and the secrets that led to their fall, Wuthering Waves brings to the table a mix of the open world/core gameplay seen in Genshin Impact and the signature action-packed combat system and phenimenal sound design featured in Kuro Games's own Punishing Geey Raven. But the latter are not the only things Wuwa takes from its older sibling, as the game's FP2-friendly approach is also present here via a high amount of early freebies and the debut of constant events providing large amounts of resources.

Like ZZZ, the game's high production value is also a huge differential here, as it won't be an overstatement to call it the most highly detailed open-world Gacha available in the market right now, courtesy of the attention to detail paid to both its environments and characters.

Reverse: 1999

Reverse 1999, one of the best Gacha games to play in 2025.
Image via Bluepoch.

  • Developer: Bluepoch
  • Platforms: PC and Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: 6-star guaranteed within 70 pulls (1.5% chance per pull) / Your pull count does carry over between banners.

A sleeping hit for many, Reverse: 1999 puts players in the role of Vertin, a Timekeeper fighting to stop the catastrophes caused by the Storm. During the story, she will then travel through multiple time periods, with each stop presenting players with additions to the main cast and distinct playstyles.

The game's combat system also deserves a mention by bringing forward a mix of card and turn-based mechanics, all while showcasing a unique presentation and intricate character models. Another of the title's biggest strengths lies in its art direction, which pairs nicely with its visual novel approach, noir feel, and sober narrative, the latter of which does not hold your hand or shy away from heavy moments.

For F2P enthusiasts, R1999 can also be considered a fairly friendly pick. On that same note, however, many might argue that the game shares the power-creeping issues seen in most current gacha.

Goddess of Victory: Nikke

The Counters squad in Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
Image via Shift Up Corporation

  • Developer: Shift Up
  • Platforms: PC and Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: Instead of a regular pity system, each pull will reward players with a ticket. Upon hitting 200, you will then be able to purchase the featured character. Your tickets do not expire between banners.

A game that mixes tactical RPG and third-person shooting elements, Goddess of Victory: Nikke takes players into a post-apocalyptic world facing an unforgiving war, where they must take on the role of a Commander leading an elite squad of Nikkes —female super soldiers and humanity's last hope. Much like Reverse 1999, Nikke's story is, in my view, what sets itself apart, as it features both a strong cast and a narrative known for tackling heavy themes.

Its above-average SSR pull rates —4% chance of per pull (2% if on the Friendship Banner)— and generous rewards in the early/mid-game also help the game be one of the most approachable Gacha for fully F2P players, while being a shooter at its core helps it be a welcome change of pace for those looking for something different. Nikke is also widely known for its novel crossovers with anime, such as EVA, and other highly successful IPs like NieR. To put it simply and echo what its community has been saying for years, if you accept the game for what it is aesthetic-wise, Goddess of Victory: Nikke will not let you down.

Arknights

Arknights, one of the best Gacha games to play in 2025.
Image via Hypergryph

  • Developer: Hypergryph
  • Platforms: PC and Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: 6-star Operator guaranteed within 100 pulls. Players have a 2% chance of getting a 6-star in the first 50 pulls of a banner. Once that limit is reached, each following pull will boost the rate by another 2%. Your pull count does not carry between limited banners.

Arknights puts players in the shoes of the Doctor, a specialist tasked with commanding operators as they fight to stop the spreading of the Oripathy disease and treat its infection. Unlike most on our list, the game is not a classic or action RPG. Instead, you will find a highly technical tower defense system here, where character placement and an understanding of the terrain can make or break you. That is further potentialized by the way Arknights allows players to apply a multitude of different strategies by picking among its hundreds of Operators, each featuring unique kits.

Like Nikke, Arknights can be considered F2P-friendly. That can be seen in how select 4-star Operators, aka Myrtle, can perform on par with premium and featured units. If you're looking for a change of pace, the game also has in its base system a great extra dose of content, as customizing it and unlocking all of its functions does add a lot ot the experience.

Punishing: Gray Raven

Alpha, as shown in Punishing: Gray Raven.
Image via Kuro Games

  • Developer: Kuro Games
  • Platforms: PC and Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: 6-Star Constructs are guaranteed in 60 pulls. Count is not shared between limited banners, but the featured construct (or weapon) will be the only SSR among it's banner's selection.

Punishing: Gray Raven puts players in the shoes of the Commandant of the Gray Raven squad as they and the constructs under their command fight in the war against the Corrupted. The game is considered a standard, given its polished visuals and soundtrack, memorable boss fights, and fast-paced combat style. The latter which revolves around non-stop combos and perfectly timed dodges.

Although it took a considerable amount of time for the game to debut in the West, its overall style and the quality of its narrative also causes Punishing: Gray Raven to be constantly compared to Nier: Automata. So if you are a fan of PlatinumGames' epic and are looking for an engaging narrative and similar feel, you will be right at home here. Just don't expect the same presentation seen in Wuthering Waves, as even if both games share the same developer, we can say that PGR walked so that WuWa could run.

Fate/Grand Order

A key art for Fate/Grand Order.
Image via Lasengle

  • Developer: Lasengle
  • Platforms: Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: Guaranteed featured SSR in 330 pulls. Pulling for the servant before the milestone will reset the count. The latter will also reset at the end of each limited banner.

Royalty in the genre, Fate/Grand Order continues to be a solid pick almost a decade after its release. Featuring a signature turn-based RPG style where you must select all of your team's actions in set orders to give birth to chains and combos, FGO puts players in the shoes of a master candidate as they go about their daily lives and embark on missions across time to prevent humanity's extinction.

As a branch of the Fate series, the game also allows players to recruit and control more than 450 Servants, each capable of fulfilling different roles. Following the visual novel format the franchise is known for, you are also given the ability to deepen your connection with each servant to unlock special interactions, quests, and, more importantly, their stories. As you can expect, however, diving into FGO right now will demand a lot of catching up. Fortunately, the game's community is known for being extremely receptive and it's sure to offer a home to all, newcomers or seasoned masters alike.

Limbus Company

All 12 playable sinners, as shown in Limbus Company.
Image via Project Moon

  • Developer: Project Moon
  • Platforms: PC and Mobile
  • Pity System Explained: The game does not have a true-to-form Pity System.

A nicher title that has experienced a sponential growth in the last year, Limbus Company sees players take on the role of Dante, the Executive Manager a platoon composed of other 12 sinners —each based on the protagonists of classic literary works, such as von Goethe's Faust— as they venture into certain death. Keep in mind that although you do not need to have prior knowledge of the franchise to play it, the game is the third in Project Moon's trilogy and a direct follow-up to 2021's Library of Ruina.

That unique setting and feel is then paired with a turn-based combat system that, although similar to Fate Grand Order's at first via its chain mechanic, brings forth an even more action-packed approach via its Clash system.

Unlike all of the other games in our list, Limbus Company's approach to Gacha also helps it set itself apart as one of 2025's best. Here, you do not pull for new characters and weapons and instead can acquire both distinct versions (or Identities) of the 12 sinners and unique Special Skills, known as E.G.O.s. The game also does not feature a pity system. But don't worry, Limbus Company makes it up for it via its high pull rates and the way its Battle Pass and Shard systems allow you to get most of each season's additions withould the need to pull, if you put in the time, that is.

Genshin Impact

A key art for Genshin Impact 1.0.
Image via HoYoverse

  • Developer: HoYoverse (miHoYo)
  • Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and mobile
  • Pity System Explained: 5-star character guaranteed in 90 pulls. The count is shared between featured banners. If you manage to get a non-featured 5-star character or weapon in a featured banner, your next 5-star will be a guaranteed featured.

If FGO was the game responsible for spearheading the Gacha revolution, Genshin Impact is the one who shook up the genre and now sits at the top, even if many see its Natlan storyline as a downgrade when compared to the heights brought forth by Fontaine.

Although bringing to the table a simpler approach to combat when compared to the likes of Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves, Genshin still offers the full package to fans by providing an experience rivaling that of most current-gen AAA titles in both visuals and performance. Its open-world style and the vast number of regions your Traveler meets while exploring Teyvat also set it apart as one of the most fun Gacha games around for newcomers, even if its exploration-focused approach can make it one of the most time-consuming picks on our list.

Honkai: Star Rail

The Astral Express crew, as shown in Honkai: Star Rail.
Image via HoYoverse

  • Developer: MiHoYo (HoYoverse)
  • Platforms: PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile
  • Pity System Explained: 5-star character guaranteed in 90 pulls. The count is shared between featured banners. If you manage to get a non-featured 5-star in a limited banner, your next 5-star will be guaranteed featured.

A spin-off/sequel of Honkai Impact 3rd, but by all means its own game, Honkai: Star Rail takes players on a journey across the universe as they join the Astral Express crew in a storyline that successfully raises the stakes while keeping the quality of its prequel intact.

It's biggest differential when compared to other HoYoverse titles, however, lies in the way the game mixes the character and ascension mechanics that made Genshin Impact such a hit with an unbelievably polished turn-based combat system. If you are a Persona fan, both the latter and the game's approach ot exploration are sure to please you, as it adds it's own signature to the known formula. Star Rail also features a roster of more than 50 unique characters, all of which can make an impact if properly built. Just be sure to plan your pulls accordingly, as the game's balancing has become a hot topic in recent months.

How to find the best Gacha game for you

Unfortunately for all looking for a quick answer here, finding your ideal Gacha is something you can only do through trial and error. Although I guarantee going with any of the above is a safe bet. On that note, and if even after going through our list you are still not sure as to which title to try out, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • What are the best Gacha games for F2P players?

Given the game's novel approach to the gacha system, I believe Limbus Company to be the most F2P pick on our list, with both Goddess of Victory: Nikke and Arknights not faring too far behind. Just be ready to grind.

  • What are the most beginner-friendly Gacha games? -

I believe Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves are the best currently available Gacha games for those looking to dive int the genre for the first time in 2025. Apart from the strengths mentioned in their entries, the reason for that lies in how they will not demand much catching up and will provide a smooth transition for those used to both RPGs and AAA gaming in general.

  • Which Gacha games have the best pull rates?

As you can see above, Reverse 1999, Arknights, and Nikke: Goddess of Victory have the highest pull rates among those on our list. The three also provide highly distinct styles of gameplay.

Now that you know which are the best Gachas to play in 2025 or if instead of a solid title already in the market, you prefer to wait a little bit and dive into titles together with the first wave of players, I highly recommend that you take a look at all of the upcoming Gacha Games releasing in 2025 and later.

Reel Ad-Venture event in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact's new limited-time event tests your video editing skills by asking you to create advertisements. Luckily, all of the footage is pre-recorded, so all you need to do is string the clips together in the correct order. Here are the solutions for each stage so you can efficiently claim your Primogems.

First, start the event by talking to Xavier outside the Café Lutece in the Court of Fontaine. After a few lines of dialogue, you'll be able to access the event activity through the events menu. Drag and drop the clips into the timeline at the top in the order you want them to play. The numbers in the images below correspond to the order of each clip in the timeline.

Stage 1: A Vital Choice

Start with Sucrose and Noelle discussing the purple potion, when a hilichurl suddenly appears. Noelle fails to defeat the hilichurl. Then, Timaeus speaks to the camera with a greyed-out background. Finish with Sucrose and Noelle trying the orange potion, then Noelle successfully defeating the hilichurl.

Two Duelists and one Strategist will be buffed with this new patch update, namely Human Torch, Iron Man, and Cloak & Dagger. Here's a rundown of all the changes in the new Marvel Rivals update.

Image of 8-man tag team in WWE 2K25

WWE 2K25 has many options regarding the superstars present inside the game, but you can still have more choices with the help of custom community creations.

The game allows you complete freedom when it comes to creating custom wrestlers. This applies to male and female superstars; you can create as many as you want. If you're someone who's not very creative, there's an option to download the creations made by other players.

How to download custom superstars in WWE 2K25

The process for downloading custom creations is pretty much the same as last year. If you're new to the series, don't worry.

In-game menu image in WWE 2K25
Image via Destructoid

  • Go to the Online tab from the main menu. Press the RB/R1 button on your Xbox/PlayStation controller.
  • Select Community Creations by clicking the R1/RB button twice.
  • In Community Creations, there are different options. Select Downloads from the list of available options.
  • Select the Superstars community. Depending on your requirements, you can also opt for the other categories from the Downloads section.
  • Browse through the different options created by the community, and zero down a choice.
  • You can preview a superstar before downloading it.
  • Once you're happy with your choice, click the Download button.
  • The superstar will be available in different modes once the download is complete.

If any of your favorite choices are unavailable on the official roster, the custom creations are cool. You can also mark custom creations as favorites to make it easier for you to download them later.

If you want to resort to the official roster, plenty of superstars are available for your selection. You can also unlock more of them by grinding different modes, and many can be bought from the in-game store using VC.

You can also unlock different Personas in MyFaction mode, which are alternate appearances of your favorite superstars. While some are bonuses attached to the Bloodline/Deadman Editions, you can get more by completing in-game achievements.

Image of Braun Strowman in WWE 2K25

WWE 2K25 is available for both PC and consoles, and Visual Concepts has also included old-gen users for this year's title.

If you have only one platform, the purchase options become simpler, as you will buy for that system. If you're like me and own both PC and consoles, you'll have to make a hard decision about where to purchase. While the version for PC is similar to the one available on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, there's a stark difference.

WWE 2K25 PC features

PC has a mix of current-gen and old-gen features. There are different game modes, including Showcase and MyFaction. The latter is WWE's take on the popular Ultimate Team mode from the FC series, as you use different rarity items of your favorite superstars.

While the features on PCs are comparable to those on consoles, there's one major difference you should note. Additionally, the graphics are far better on PC compared to the old-gen consoles.

WWE 2K25 console features

By console, I am listing the features available on the current-gen version of the game. You get a true current-gen experience, and there's something extra: The Island. This is equivalent to The City in NBA 2K25's MyCareer.

The Island lets you explore different locations, complete fun quests, and make your character the big thing in wrestling. Plenty of live events and challenges exist to complete and win fun rewards, including VC (premium currency in the game). The Island might or might not be according to your tastes, but there's no denying the fact that the mode is a fresh entry to the series.

Which one should you get?

Assuming you can choose between a console and a PC, I will go with the former. The reason is simple: there's an extra game mode that will allow you to enjoy the game for a longer time. However, there's a small factor that works in favor of PC. Steam has regional pricing available on the game, which could apply to the country you're located in. This will have a noticeable difference in the final amount that you'll have to pay.

That said, the console version is still going to be my first preference. If you're not interested in playing The Island mode and have a PC with good enough specifications, opt for the Steam version. While it's important to remember that PC for this year at least will be having an old-gen version, there's very minimal difference in gameplay. The only major differences are in terms of the available game modes.

A screenshot of the Lethal Mode exclusive Space Marine 2 helmet

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 was one of the big surprises of last year, being so successful that it even took over Helldivers 2's title of the gaming community's darling third-person shooter for a little while. Space Marine 2's latest major step forward, then, is a proper Public Test Server.

Though we've known for some time now that the developer Saber Interactive was looking into setting up a PTS for Space Marine 2, the exact timeline was murky for a while now. Any kind of news would've been welcome at this point, let alone something as exciting as the immediate availability of the Public Test Server with an exciting new content update already cooking. Indeed, dedicated players can jump straight into Patch 7.0, which I'm sure many of you will be doing. On that front, there are some caveats to keep in mind here.

https://twitter.com/Focus_entmt/status/1900124938855481783

Join the PTS for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 to leave feedback

Anyone interested in giving Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2's Public Test Server a shot can do so right away, though the recommendation is that you first look into the official forum to get a sense of what's what.

With that out of the way, a Space Marine 2 PTS entry should be available as a standalone version of the game on Steam. It exists as an entirely separate entry that doesn't share anything with the base version of Space Marine 2. This means you'll need to download everything from the ground-up and, more importantly, your profile progression does not transition to and from the PTS.

Instead, all players have virtually everything unlocked with fully maxed-out class progression over on the Test Server. This is obviously a huge boon for testing purposes, but it does underline the notion that this is definitely not just an "early access" kind of thing for cutting-edge content. Your owned DLCs and customization options also won't be available on the PTS, for obvious reasons.

And on that note, Saber has stated that even though the majority of an upcoming update's content will be available via the Test Server, "[they] won't share content that is too buggy or hasn't undergone the necessary approvals on our side at the time of the PTS release. Also, some content might be present on the PTS, but not accessible to the players. For instance, you may see new Champions in the Armouring Hall but won't be able to try them."

A Public Test Server also won't be available at all times. Instead, you can expect it to pop up only ahead of the release of a major content update for Space Marine 2. The initial version of the Space Marine 2 PTS thus demos Patch 7 and will be taken offline after the update's full official release.

In this first version of the PTS, expect to be able to test out:

  • A new PvE weapon
  • A new Operation PvE mission
  • Rebalanced weapon perks
  • Reworked Class weapon loadouts
  • PvE Prestige feature

And a few other tidbits. Of course, if you do join the PTS, consider submitting feedback to Saber Interactive via the forum featured above. That is the main purpose of a Public Test Server, after all.

The post Space Marine 2 now has its very own Public Test Server, and you can check it out appeared first on Destructoid.

an image of a player shooting a weapon in FragPunk

Bad Guitar Studio dropped a hotfix on March 10 for FragPunk, bringing several changes to Outbreak Mode, such as increased Shard Points upon joining an ongoing match and increasing base health of Parasites. The update also includes certain bug fixes for game modes, interface, and more.

All changes to the Outbreak Mode

Starting March 10, players who join an ongoing match in Outbreak Mode will receive more Shard Points upon entry, and they can now hold a maximum of two "Squat Defence" Shard Cards at once. On the other hand, "Lucky Bullets" and "Maximum Overhealth" are limited to 1 each.

Parasites now have an increased base HP and regeneration after disengagement, and their "Parasitic Sludge" now deals explosive damage on impact. Additionally, Nitro's "Mr. PewPew" skill deals less damage to Parasites, and its maximum active count has been reduced.

Doom 2: a hand holds a pistol down a dark, concrete corridor.

I must admit, I get a little antsy when I go a few days without talking about a Doom or Doom 2 mod. I dunno, there's just something satisfying about how an influential franchise that's older than some people reading is still providing an outlet for creativity.

One recent example comes from ModDB user Graaicko, and essentially transforms Doom 2 into a CIA-based counter-terrorism shooter. With the promise that you'll get to infiltrate enemy territory and stop a worldwide threat as Strike Team Eagle, "Shadow Elite" is a total conversion mod that should appeal to fans of espionage thrillers.

Doom 2: the player peers around a dark corner, about to strike on an unsuspecting, how smartly dressed, guard.
Image via Graaicko/ModDB

It's described as an "action-packed stealth espionage" experience, which will deliver "high-octane" missions, as well as realistic weapons, all in the name of stopping a terrorist threat. Essentially, we're a long way from the original id Software game.

Stay tuned for a release date

Here's what Graaicko has to say about "Shadow Elite:"

You will adventure through the massive super structure, engaging in endless firefights with cutthroat mercenaries. [Whatever] it takes, you must get to the location of where the corporation keeps its files of dark and corrupt activities. Director Sheridan will stop at nothing to make sure you leave the building in nothing but a body bag.

Now, saying the mod will be action-packed doesn't really cut it, seeing as Doom 2 is already fit to burst with plenty of action. But with this, we get a completely different setting to Hell, where we'll be up against a terrorist organization rather than demons. Sort of like a more pixelated James Bond or Sam Fisher.

Currently, there is no release date for the mod, as it's said to be quite a big project. Graaicko says progression is coming along, but it's "too soon" to say when it will actually be ready. For now, you can follow the mod for updates if it sounds like something that'll be up your street.

EA FC 25 Six of the Best SBC solutions

The leaks for FUT Birthday Team 2 players have started doing the rounds on social media, and EA FC 25 players could find some fabulous cards in the packs in Ultimate Team.

The second team is expected to arrive in packs on Friday, March 14, and they will directly replace Team 1 cards. So far, EA Sports hasn't hinted about which cards will make it to the second team, but thanks to the leaks, we have a faint idea about some of the superstars who could be added to the Birthday celebrations.

All EA FC 25 FUT Birthday Team 2 players (leaks)

As expected, the second team will have special cards of active footballers, Icons, and Heroes. While the leaks are few at the time of writing, I expect more names to appear as we approach the release on Friday.

  • Harry Maguire
  • Virgil Van Dijk
  • Sam Kerr
  • Julian Alvarez
  • Nico Williams
  • Jamal Musiala
  • Carlos Tevez (as SBC)
  • Mallory Swanson
  • Inigo Martinez
  • Gabriel Martinelli
  • Federico Dimarco
  • Gavi
  • Zaire-Emery
  • David Alaba
  • Ella Toone
  • Leandro Paredes
  • Matheus Cunha
  • Wilfried Zaha
  • Antonia Silva
  • Serge Gnabry
  • Cascarino
  • Hasegawa

The second team is already shaping up to be a defensive delight for many, as three of the first four leaks include CBs. After a long time, we will get a special card for Van Dijk, widely considered the best CB in the Ultimate Team mode. As usual, all these items will have 5* Weak Foot and 5* Skills, sticking closely with the theme of the FUT Birthday promo.

The second week will also have new SBCs and objectives for players to complete. So far, we have had some fantastic SBCs during the first week, and we also have detailed guides about how to complete them in the first place. Unlike items in packs, you won't have to rely on your luck to use a promo card that will be part of SBCs and objectives.

WWE 2K25 launch times across all regions

WWE 2K25 has some pretty pesky problems that can routinely upset players, and the "Can't Connect to 2K Server" error has been popping up for PC users.

I have faced this issue since the latest update, 1.05, went live on all platforms. While the problem doesn't stop you from enjoying the game, it will disrupt all experiences that require online connectivity. A permanent fix has to come from 2K, and it should arrive after the full launch on March 14, but here are some potential fixes you can try.

WWE 2K25 Can't Connect to 2K Servers error fixes

The error is pretty easy to detect. Whenever you try to connect to a mode or access a feature that requires an online connection, it will fail. Instead, an error message will pop up stating that you can't access the online content.

Unlike games like EA FC 25, there's no way to manually re-establish an online connection from within the game. The easiest solution is to restart the game, but this method didn't work for me personally. Here are some additional steps you can take.

Image of Bronson Reed in WWE 2K25
Image via Destructoid

  • The method that worked for me was to run a file integrity check from within Steam. Once the check was complete, it discovered that WWE 2K25 was missing an essential batch of files. Once those files were detected and installed automatically, the online part has worked flawlessly.
  • If you're on a Wi-Fi connection, try using cabled internet instead. Wi-Fi connections are known for random packet bursts, which can cause connectivity loss.
  • If a file integrity check doesn't work, go through the painful process of reinstalling the game. Once done, you'll be asked to review the terms and conditions. After reading them, accept the TOS to get back your online connectivity.

I am hopeful that the third part, as lengthy as it might be, will fix your game on PC and help you enjoy all the content that requires an internet connection. If it still doesn't work, the only solution will be to hope for 2K to fix the problem from their end as part of a post-launch update.

You can get SP via objectives that are released on a seasonal/weekly/monthly basis. EA Sports also boosts up the rate at which you can SP towards the end of the season.

When will EA FC 25 Season 6 end?

The new season is available till May 1, when Season 7 will replace the currently-available set of rewards. Season 6 will be a pretty long one, as it will cover the remaining part of March, and the entirety of April. This also means that you have plenty of time to grind all the rewards.
