Your Intel gaming CPU could get a free performance boost with this update

Intel has dropped a surprise bonus feature for owners of its Intel Core Ultra 200 series CPUs. The new Intel 200S Boost feature will be available via a motherboard BIOS update and can increase CPU and memory frequencies in one click, all while maintaining your CPU's three-year warranty.

The new Intel CPU and motherboard feature is available now but will require your motherboard's manufacturer to issue firmware updates that you'll have to apply using the usual BIOS update features of your board. With Intel's Core Ultra 200 CPUs having otherwise struggled to break into our best gaming CPU guide due to lackluster gaming performance, this free new feature could seriously increase their desirability.

The worst AMD Radeon gaming GPU reportedly just got even worse

Details of a new AMD Radeon gaming GPU have seemingly just appeared, but it looks like one to avoid if you're looking for a budget graphics card for gaming. The GPU in question is the AMD Radeon RX 6500 (without the XT on the end), which hasn't been officially announced by AMD, but the leaked specs paint a picture of an underpowered Radeon RX 6500 XT with lower clock speeds and slower memory.

There are many reasons why you won't find the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT on our best graphics card guide, not least the fact that it's based on tech that's now two generations old, using the RDNA 2 GPU architecture. Perhaps more importantly, though, this GPU was also massively underpowered when it came out in January 2022. AMD wouldn't even send me one for review then, and neither would any of its board partners.

Boasting near-perfect reviews, one of PC's nastiest horror games just got bigger

What's the single scariest moment in videogame history? The dogs jumping through the windows in the original Resident Evil - that's the most common choice. Horror connoisseurs might also point to the Mr. Tibbits screamer in Condemned Criminal Origins, or the hospital rooftop in 2001's Silent Hill 2. Personally, I still lose sleep over the Working Joes in Alien Isolation, when you're running away and they grab your ankle. But The Outlast Trials gets under my skin. Any time the lights go out and those surgically implanted night-vision goggles come on, well, it's time to panic.      Marathon release date, trailer, and gameplay

When is the Marathon release date? Marathon is a forthcoming first-person shooter from Bungie, the team behind hit games like Destiny 2 and the original Halo. It's been a while since the first trailer gave us the scoop on what players could expect from the game, which was rumored to be in development for quite some time before Bungie's actual announcement in May 2023. Fortunately, the wait for a launch date is now over.

While the Marathon release date is still a fair way away, the hype is real given Bungie's history of delivering unrivaled gunplay and the stunning trailer that re-introduced gamers to the remake of the FPS game, which remains a classic.

I'm a lifelong Resi fan but relatively late-coming Capcom devotee, so I find Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny's amalgam of more famed series hallmarks fun to think about - sitting as it does at the intersection of Devil May Cry's orb-sucking fighting game combat and Resident Evil's deliberate spacial awareness, fixed camera exploration and puzzles.

But I've also got some second-hand nostalgia for this 2002 action game. I didn't play it myself, although I did spectate snippets at a friend's house. I remember him having fun, although he may have mostly enjoyed boasting about how sword-tough he was in the face of the game's difficulty.

Remember Spore? I never played the original one myself, just that crappy one Spore Creatures on the DS, but I've long appreciated what Spore was trying to do from afar. There's an almost whimsical macabre feeling to it, playing god and all that, leading a creature down the path of evolution. I've just picked up the Anker 24,000mAh 65W Portable Charger for $34.99 in Woot's charging devices sale, and it's been one of the more practical purchases I've made for my Steam Deck and ROG Ally X. At half off the regular $69.99 price, it's an easy recommendation. It's powerful, compact, and actually delivers the speed these handhelds need without making a scene about it.

Konami Warns About Fake Silent Hill f Beta Test

Konami recently shared a message regarding fake social media accounts for Silent Hill f offering non-existent beta tests for the new game. These accounts will attempt to redirect users to phishing websites to obtain people's data.

In addition to the fake beta test offers, these accounts are also claiming to hold events and other campaigns to try to take people's personal information. In the message shared by the Japanese social media account, Konami warned users to avoid interacting with any accounts offering beta tests and campaigns related to Silent Hill f. Konami also shared the message in its English social media.

The company reiterated that the only official websites for Silent Hill f are the official portal that was recently opened after the reveal of the game's first trailer, as well as the X (formerly Twitter) social media account where the message was shared. These are the only two official Silent Hill f websites currently available.

As a reminder, the first official trailer for Silent Hill f appeared on a recent SH Transmission stream, detailing information about the 1960 rural Japan setting of the game and its protagonist Hinako Shimizu. You can check out the trailer here.

Silent Hill f is currently in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

New Sanrio Shirts Pair Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody With Honda

Avail and Sanrio announced a new collection of shirts featuring Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody alongside the Honda logo and Super Cub branding. Avail will start selling these in Japan on April 26, 2025. WorldShopping shipping is available for those in other countries. All of them are unisex t-shirts in men's sizes.

There are three different types of shirts in this Sanrio Honda collection at Avail, and each one is available in Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and My Melody designs. All of them are available in sizes medium and large. Depending on the style, the price varies.

The first option features the Honda wing logo used for its motorcycles on the lefthand side. That will have one of the characters peeking over the top of it. Each character's face will also appear as a helmet on upper righthand side above the slogan that reads, "Just doing what I love." The character's name will also appear on the front and sleeve. These are 1,800円 (~$13) each.

The other 1,800円 (~$13) t-shirt option features more imagery. Each one has one of the characters riding a Super Cub on it, the Super Cub motorcycle itself, the Honda logo, the character's name, and the "just doing what I love" slogan. These only feature a design on the front of the shirt.

The last shirt style at Avail is the most expensive, as each one features designs on the front and back. On the front, there is the Honda logo in red with Hello Kitty, Kuromi, or My Melody sitting beside it. On the back are various logos, images of the character, Super Cub references, and the character's name across the top. Those are 2,300円 (~$16) each.

Here's how all of the initial images for the designs look so far:

There have been Honda items like this before. A Hello Kitty Super Cub 110 appeared for her 50th anniversary

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Heads to Nintendo Switch Online

In honor of the Fire Emblem series' 35th anniversary, Nintendo added Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership tier. NSO members can also access the Fire Emblem Engage soundtrack in the Nintendo Music app on mobile devices as part of the celebration.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones maybe the eighth game, but many people might remember it as only the first or second one they played. This is because the first worldwide release was Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade for the GBA, released outside Japan as just Fire Emblem, and this was the second. You can go through two storylines, with each campaign following one of the twin siblings Prince Ephraim and Princess Eirika of Renais. Once you get through one, there is also an unlockable Creature Campaign.

Here's the trailer for the Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones NSO release that shows the game running on the Switch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LmocGJOdZk&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

Here's the official announcement bringing up the Fire Emblem Engage soundtrack coming to the NSO Nintendo Music app. The trailer included clips from the songs "Emblem Engage," "Engage," and "On Day Patrol, Divine One."

In addition to these two additions to celebrate the Fire Emblem series 35th anniversary, Intelligent Systems ran events in Fire Emblem Heroes. There have been daily rerun banners with free pulls, login campaigns with currencies, bonus items, and banner tickets, special banners, and a new banner that features an Attuned Hero version of Tiki from Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is available on the GBA and on the Switch via Nintendo Switch Online. Fire Emblem Engage is on the Switch. Fire Emblem Heroes is on mobile devices. Nintendo Switch Online is $19.99 for a one-year standard membership and $49.99 for a one-year membership with the Expansion Pack.

Monster Hunter Wilds Festival of Accord: Blossomdance Event Begins

Capcom announced that the Monster Hunter Wilds Festival of Accord: Blossomdance event launches on April 23, 2025, for those who unlocked The Grand Hub Gathering Hall, and the Blossomdance DLC with new emotes, stickers, pendants, and cosmetics like a Spring Blossom Kimono for Alma and Seikret Decorations will debut too. However, Alma can wear that kimono for free during the event. The activities in-game run until May 6, 2025.

Many of the changes are cosmetic. The trees are blooming, just like sakura blossoms, in The Grand Hub. This means things will look quite different. If you login during this time period, you get tickets for the themed Sakuratide Hunter armor and Papier-Mache Palico equipment and Vouchers for themed food. Additional bonuses for logging in involves things like a Seikret Decoration, Pop Up Camp decorations, gestures, and pendants. There will also be two Lucky Vouchers given away each day during the run.

Capcom's announcement on Steam mentioned crafting the Sakuratide armor and equipping it will prove helpful. Wearing that gets you more bonuses for and from activities. The "Carabosse's Daughters" and "That Won't Work on Me" limited time quests, which offer the tickets and drops for special equipment and accessories, will be live. Wearing that armor during it could mean extra tickets from quests. As for the Barrel Bombs minigame, it now has a blossom theme and you get more bombs in it if you wear that armor.

Here's the trailer for the Monster Hunter Wilds event:

And here are some screenshots for it that show off the new look for the hub, the different types of equipment and cosmetics, the new kimono Alma can wear, and the paid DLC pack for the event.

Splatoon 3 Water Gun Looks Like a Splat Brella

Sun Art announced that it worked with Nintendo to create two Splatoon 3 water guns, with each of the pistols looking like the Splat Brella from the game. These will be available in blue or yellow color schemes. Each one will cost 3,278円 (~$23).

As in Splatoon 3, these Splat Brella water guns can be used offensively or defensively. They can also be easily transported by folding them up like a regular umbrella. Once unfurled, you can use the umbrella part as coverage to protect yourself from the water other people are shooting. The reservoir of water is stored in a pouch on a user's back that looks like an Inkling or Octoling ink tank.

Here's how both of these items look:

This isn't the only time we've seen a Splatoon series weapon turned into a real-world water gun, as water pistols based on the Splatterscope and Splattershot release in Japan. The Nintendo Store itself even sold them. In the US, Jakks also released some like a Splattershot Blaster. We've also seen fans make their own real-world relicas.

Splatoon 3 is available on the Nintendo Switch, and the Splat Brella water guns will be sold in Japan at the end of April 2025.

Once May 6, 2025 rolls around, you can get Behelits from elite enemies. Get enough and you can trade them at the Berserk Reliquary for items inspired by the series. The store will also sell items based on characters. The Berserker Armor for Barbarians in the event is inspired by Guts. The Rogue's Hawk of Light equipment is based on Griffith. Meanwhile, it looks like The Struggler Rogue armor is based on Chasca. As for the Necromancer's Skull Knight, that look is based on… The Skull Knight. You can also get the Chimimoryo in a Pet Bundle called The Schnoz with Chimimoryo's Resemblance and the Mask Rakshas Mount Trophy, and Griffith's Warhorse of the Hawk mount and mount and mount armor will be sold.

We can play it on the PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC, and it is a part of Game Pass Ultimate for those who subscribe to the service. The Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and other DLC is included.

We had some idea this remaster of Oblivion was on the way. It first came up when Microsoft acquired Bethesda. Various leaks suggested it was in development and might be a shadow drop for months. In addition to details like it using Unreal Engine 5, supposed images, and even early appearances from the site of Virtuos, the developer behind it. Some of Virtuos' other work includes Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition for the PS5 and PC, the Switch version of NieR: Automata, and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

Here's the official showcase revealing the remaster. It went over new features and additions. For example, there are new animations, new textures, we can now sprint, and the Deluxe Edition added the aforementioned new quests and items.

FFXIV Cosmic Exploration Begins With Patch 7.21 Launch

Cosmic Exploration now lets Final Fantasy XIV players head to Source's Moon, as the FFXIV Dawntrail patch 7.21 debut added the new feature, its sidequests, and new activities and rewards for helping to develop Sinus Ardorum. As long as you're currently on your home world and not traveling to another one on the Data Center in the MMORPG, you can go through Stellar Missions, help the Lunar Development Initiative, get Disciples of the Hand and Land tools, and get new equipment, dyes, a mech mount, and a robot minion. All this first came up in the 7.2 Letter from the Producer Live before its debut, and the official patch notes are live.

To start, Square Enix noted we can only get to the Sinus Ardorum base camp on the moon once we finish the main scenario quest "Endwalker" and start the new side story quests. Drivingway in Mare Lamentorum (X:21.9 Y:13.2) will let you go between the planet and moon. When you land, you can pull up your new Exotablet tool to contribute to the Lunar Development Initiative with Stellar Missions. These involve gathering materials to develop facilities and your camp. So one mission the company highlighted is a Northwestern Vicinity Survey that involved gathering 25 items from select gathering points in three minutes. You'll then get a star score based on it. Items you get will be put in your Cosmopouch, and you can then use your Cosmic Crafting Log to make new items. Some of these tasks could be sequential or be limited by the time of day, if there's a red alert, or a certain type of weather is happening.

The patch notes also went over some other unique experiences that come from heading to the moon. There will be Mech Ops, which allow us to either be ground support for a pilot or a mech pilot for a certain Duty. You do need to pay Lunar Credits for a Pilot Application, and only five random players will be picked as pilots and not ground support. However, if you aren't picked as a pilot, you get your application fee back and get better odds of being picked next time. We can also Join FATE to take on a "large-scale project" on the moon. Both of these can involve special rewards and currencies.

Here is how to start all of the Cosmic Exploration sidequests in Final Fantasy XIV, though note that you must be at Disciple of the Hand or Land level 10 and have finished the FFXIV Endwalker MSQ storyline to start.

  • "A Cosmic Homecoming" - Meet Namingway at Old Sharlayan (X:12.6, Y:13.6). (Note that finishing this gives you a Cosmic Prototype Coffer that gives you a cosmic tool for your current class.)
  • "Passion, Thy Name is Ardorum" - After finishing "A Cosmic Exploration" and clearing a requisite Cosmic Exploration rank, you'll be notified that you can speak to Searchingway at Sinus Ardorum (X:20.4, Y:20.0).
  • "A Manager's Patience" - Finish "Passion, Thy Name is Ardorum" and continue Cosmic Exploration work until you can meet with Mumukko at Sinus Ardorum (X:21.6, Y:21.1).
  • "A Manager's Persistence" - After "A Manager's Patience" is done, return to Mumukko at Sinus Ardorum (X:21.6 Y:21.1).

Here are some new Cosmic Exploration screenshots from Square Enix:

Godzilla foot hammer

A hammer shaped after the Godzilla foot will appear courtesy of Castem. Toho revealed the product via the official Japanese social media account of the Godzilla franchise. Castem will produce it to be functional as a real hammer, so people will be able to use it to have the kaiju monster literally stomp nails down.

The two companies are collaborating to produce the iron foot hammer, which will be based on Godzilla's model from the 2001 movie Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Together with the wood handle, the whole hammer will measure around 30 cm (11.81 inches) long. The handle will also feature a Godzilla 70th anniversary logo, which was reached in 2024 after the kaiju's inaugural film launched in November 1954.

The Japanese official Godzilla social media account provided a link to the hammer's listing on Rakuten, where it costs 6,930 yen. But even though the Japanese web store may support international shipping via Rakuten Global Express, the listing page reveals that it has no legal methods to ship this product overseas.

However, Castem has also been known to have an eBay storefront where it sells its products globally, as in the case of the Cup of Alphonse from Fullmetal Alchemist. We can confirm that an official eBay listing for the Godzilla Hammer is available for people residing elsewhere worldwide at $70.65.

The Godzilla foot hammer is available to order worldwide. Castem will process all received orders and ship the products within five business days.

Oblivion Remastered promotional image

I know how it feels to change things up and spawn in items, make yourself invincible, or make quests easier using console commands. I did it in Oblivion, Skyrim, and now, I'm doing it in Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered. If you're here, I'm sure you feel this same sentiment.

Much like other Elder Scrolls titles, including its predecessor, Oblivion Remastered has tons of console commands that help you with every aspect of the game. Here's a complete list of every command available and a step-by-step on how to use them.

How to use console commands in Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered

Below is a complete step-by-step to opening the console menu and using cheat commands in Oblivion Remastered:

  1. Launch Oblivion Remastered
  2. Tap ~ on your keyboard to open the console menu.
  3. Copy-paste or type in any command you wish to use.
  4. Fill in any ID codes or attributes as needed.
  5. Submit the command.

If you correctly type the command in, you'll immediately receive its benefit or debuff. The only downside is that it'll disable achievements on your save, preventing you from reaching 100 percent completion. If you're a trophy hunter, you'll have to finish everything legitimately.

Overwatch 2 Stadium is a mode so unique to what the hero shooter has to offer that it almost feels like an entirely new spinoff.

OW2's Stadium takes inspiration from games like MOBAs and shooters like Counter-Strike, along with making it playable in third-person perspective, all to create something totally fresh and quite fun that feels familiar yet new.

During each best-of-seven match in Stadium, heroes can earn Stadium Cash to buy upgrades known as Powers and Items to customize and build their heroes to be completely different from standard OW2, and potentially different between each game you play in Stadium.

Spell casting in Oblivion Remastered

Oblivion Remastered has over 10 Birthsigns to pick from, and making a proper selection is important for your entire playthrough.

Of course, you can go with the one you like, but it makes a lot of sense to be selective. Every Birthsign has a certain boost worth considering, but you should consider your playstyle and class. Let's take a look at the best possible options to choose from, along with all the available birth signs.

All Birthsigns in Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered

Birthsign Effects
Apprentice +100 point bonus to Magicka, +100% Weakness to Magic
Atronach +150 point bonus to Magicka, +50% Spell Absorption, Magicka regen over time stops
Lady +10 point bonus to Willpower and Endurance
Lord Casts a spell that restores Health, +25% Weakness to fire
Lover Casts a Paralyze Spell but loses 120 Fatigue points (once daily)
Mage +50 point bonus to Magicka
Ritual Casts a spell that restores Health once a day. The Blessed World lesser power allows you to Turn Undead up to level 25 for 30 seconds on a target of your choice.
Serpent Casts a spell that does Damage Health on an enemy for three points for 20 seconds. Cure Poison on self, and Dispel 90 points of magic on Self. +100 Damage Fatigue.
Shadow Casts a spell once daily that allows you to become invisible for 60 seconds.
Steed +20 bonus point to Speed Attribute
Thief +10 bonus points to Agility, Speed, and Luck
Tower Allows you to open a container or door of average lock level or less once daily. Reflect Damage by 5% for 120 seconds once daily.
Warrior +10 bonus points to Strength and Endurance

Best Birthsigns in Oblivion Remastered

A combat scene in Oblivion Remastered
Screenshot via Bethesda

The first choice is to go for a Birthsign that fits well with your class and playstyle. However, I already have a few choices that look pretty strong in terms of their in-game effects.

  • Atronach: This is a great choice if you want to use a lot of spells. While the Magicka regen will stop over time, it gives you a lot of bonus Magicka, as well as increased spell absorption.
  • Lady: Gives you extra Willpower and Endurance, which are useful for almost any build. Doesn't have any negative attributes.
  • Warrior: Similar to Lady, but buffs up your Strength and Endurance by 10 points. Doesn't have any negative attributes.
  • Ritual: This is the best Birthsign to get if you want to concentrate on health recovery. Recovers 200 points of health, and the Turn Undead spell can be put to good use in certain aspects.

At the beginning of your culinary journey, you'll only have access to a select few recipes. So, if a customer requests an order that you don't have yet, you'll likely have to decline it for the time being. Just focus on the ones you have to earn a job promotion quickly.

Aim to hit the blue mark on the meter when cooking, or your dish might be ruined. However, I've noticed that customers don't really mind if the dish comes out badly. What truly matters to them is getting the correct order, regardless of whether it's cooked to perfection or not.

If you combine the incorrect ingredients, it will either result in scraps or a casserole. These two dishes don't really have any uses, so you can throw them away. Each time you provide a customer with their order, you'll earn credits and an increase in your distinct job rank. Once you've reached the maximum level, you'll get the Durr Stripe Sofa and Durr Stripe Bed for your Lego Fortnite Brick Life house.

A character wielding a blue lightsaber in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Picture this: You're strolling along the beach with Darth Vader as you force him to go fishing with you and listen to him complain nonstop about how much he hates sand. That sounds like the dream to me, and Disney Dreamlight Valley has found the perfect way to deliver it.

Now, Darth Vader and other characters aren't actually coming to DDV just yet, but we're taking a step in the right direction with some Premium Shop offerings from a galaxy far, far away. This is the perfect way to implement the beloved franchise, and I really hope Gameloft decides to give us more Star Wars and eventually set their sights on Marvel, too.

I know not everyone is a fan of Star Wars and Marvel, and that many DDV players want the game to stick to "classic" Disney content only. This just doesn't seem like a feasible goal to me, though, considering how both franchises are two of Disney's biggest hits and how much love there is for them.

As much as I enjoy both franchises, I do think Gameloft's call to add Star Wars as purely optional items is the right one, and I think it should be the move for all content from this world and any hypothetical Marvel content going forward. This ensures that those who want to engage with it can, while those who are committed to avoiding it can freely do so.

I also feel like the Premium Shop offerings are probably a test to gauge the community's response. If it goes over well, I imagine there's a good chance we could get a Star Wars DLC like The Storybook Vale or A Rift in Time in the future. Maybe even multiple different ones, depending on how players react.

Even if you're not a fan, these franchises offer tons of untapped potential with so many possibilities. We're already starting off strong with some of the coolest items we can get in the Wonderland Whimsy update. I'm going to carry my trusty blue lightsaber absolutely everywhere, and R2-D2 might even replace Heihei as my favorite companion, but there's still so much more DDV could do.

I'm thinking of a Star Wars DLC world with each biome as a different planet, like the deserts of Tatooine, the harsh icy regions of Hoth, and the underwater Gungan palace of Naboo. It would also be cool to see Sith-inspired clothing, villagers like Princess Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and potentially even a light combat system for certain map areas that's somewhat similar to the sneaking mechanic introduced in the Tales of Agrabah update with Jasmine and Aladdin.

Marvel also has a lot to offer with accessories like Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer, houses like the Avengers Tower, the X-Mansion, and the Sanctum Sanctorium, and costumes like Scarlet Witch's ensemble, Spider-Man's suit, and an X-Men uniform. I'd also love to enjoy some shawarma with Iron Man and Black Widow, or cause some mischief around the valley with Loki.

There's just so much the DDV team could do with these franchises, and I think more of both would ultimately benefit all players. Star Wars and Marvel have lots of really cool items that could be added to the valley, so even if you're not interested in the characters, all of the outfits, furniture, houses, and other such items would still be useful in allowing for much more customization.

I'm all for the idea of fully adding lots of Star Wars and Marvel content, but I do think it's essential that Gameloft only ever adds content from these worlds through optional DLC. This was the perfect choice on their part, and I think they absolutely have to stick to it if they decide to do more. There's no other fair way to do it since there are lots of strong opinions against it, and I'm all for players being able to curate their desired gameplay experience with this.

Since there are also many in favor of this collaboration, keeping it as DLC seems like the perfect compromise, and I really hope Gameloft gives us a whole lot more in future updates. After all, there's no other game you could play where Yoda could tell you "Cook me 20 Pumpkin Puffs, you must," or you could yell "HULK SMASH" while mining rock nodes with Hulk. Just like Rapunzel, I've got a dream, and I'm optimistic DDV will eventually deliver on it.

Oblivion Remastered featured image

Creating your character is the first decision you'll make in the Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered. While much of this is designing their appearance, you'll also determine their race and origin, which completely shapes how the rest of your playthrough goes.

Right away, you'll notice each race has bolded traits that help determine their starting characteristics and strengths. While one may have natural immunity to poison, another may excel in archery and acrobatics. Let's break down every race option in Oblivion Remastered and which ones you should choose.

Which race should you pick in Oblivion Remastered?

Your race choice in Oblivion Remastered depends almost entirely on your playstyle. If you want to begin a stealth archer playthrough, Khajit and Wood Elf are your two best bets. If you prefer playing as a formidable warrior who wields greatswords and heavy armor, the Orc will be your go-to choice.

Here's a breakdown of the best races for various categories in Oblivion Remastered:

  • Best race for melee warriors: Orc and Imperial
  • Best race for archers: Wood Elf and Khajit
  • Best race for magicians: Breton and High Elf
  • Best all-rounders: Dark Elf and Nord

Oblivion Remastered race options
Screenshot by Destructoid

Every race has its own perks and stat bonuses that differentiate them from one another. Their stats will also greatly differ depending on their Origin, making your choice even more important.

Let's take a look at the Orc, for example. While a Stronghold Orc boasts higher stats in Endurance, Willpower, and Strength, Orsinium Orcs have slightly lower Willpower and Personality but greater Intelligence. This choice doesn't impact your starting skills, but it'll make Stronghold Orcs have lower max Magicka but slightly higher regen on Magicka and Fatigue. Stronghold Orcs also have a slightly easier time charming NPCs, but the difference isn't substantial compared to other classes.

The real difference comes from comparing race strengths. While a Wood Elf has high Agility and Speed but lacks Willpower, Strength, and Personality, a High Elf also has low Strength but boasts high Intelligence and Magicka Bonus. Despite these differences, both elf types are resistant to disease, while options like the Nord don't list this as a defining feature.

Oblivion: a night in shining armor advances on the player, with a church in the background.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is now live, and it has a fair amount of differences from the older version.

There's a gap of almost two decades between the OG release and the new one. There are some amazing features that are part of the Remastered Edition, and this guide will help you get on top of everything you need to know about it.

Unreal Engine V

The new version is a blend of the new and old-gen. Bethesda has gone with the the original engine when it comes to the core gameplay systems. However, players will enjoy significantly better visuals thanks to the superior capabilities of the Unreal Engine 5.

While the requirements for the new version is higher

Fresh content with the Deluxe Edition

The Deluxe Edition brings new content available for players who decide to spend extra. The bonus content includes quests for Akatosh and Mohrunas Dragon armors, weapons, and horse armor sets. You'll also receive two fresh sets of weapons - Weapons of Orders and Weapons of Cataclysm.

Story Expansions

The Digital version also packs in the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine digital story expansions available for all. These expansions are available as separate downloadable content. These expansions were previously released with the original Oblivion game, but players had to wait (unlike now).

Third-person view

You play how you want. While you can always stick to the classic experience of the 2006 version, there's a new Third-person view to enjoy as well. This different POV of playing the TES 4 is well-thought idea from Bethesda. In the early hours, it seems to work pretty well.

New Combat Animations

While I have always loved the combat mechanics of The Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion Remastered has fresh combat animations that uses a system that works on feedback. This enables you to enjoy a more immersive feel with every weapon that you can experience.

There's plenty of smaller and bigger changes that we are experiencing as we start exploring the gameplay. This guide will be duly updated once we discover more.

And here I thought the biggest news coming from Marvel Rivals this week would be the new game mode that's got everyone's heads in the clouds. Joke's on me, I guess; it looks like Marvel Rivals fans are hellbent on making their favorite hero-shooter part of their complete breakfast.

That's right. Marvel Rivals players are hunting for boxes of Frosted Flakes bearing the likeness of their favorite Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists. Unfortunately, the news I've got to share with breakfast-loving Marvel Rivals players is less-than-gr-r-eat: we've been downright bamboozled. That's right: the cereal's a lie.

Marvel Rivals Frosted Flakes are the toast of TikTok

If you're anything like me, you're probably wondering how we got here. Whispers that WK Kellogg Co is partnering with Marvel Rivals started, as they often do, on TikTok after a funny little video started making the rounds yesterday.

https://www.tiktok.com/@bakudekumochi/video/7495802271486414126

The video, posted by TikTok user @bakudekumochi, is honestly pretty funny. Accompanied by the caption "My mom said she got me new cereal," the video shows someone (@bakudekumochi themself, if I had to guess) opening their kitchen cabinet and finding boxes of Frosted Flakes branded with the likenesses of Invisible Woman, Emma Frost, and Jeff the Land Shark. I sure hope those are tears of joy in the video.

Are Marvel-Rivals-themed Frosted Flakes really on a store shelf near you?

I've got to admit, this had me fooled for a bit. I knew it was probably too good to be true, but breakfast cereal brands have never been averse to slapping mascots from the hottest films, television shows, or video games onto the faces of their boxes, so I was hopeful. Sadly, it looks like it's all jabs.

I looked around but couldn't find any proof that Marvel Rivals-themed Frosted Flakes have blessed this green Earth with their presence. I even stopped by a few of my local grocery stores to check. Unfortunately, my efforts turned up Fruit Loops-less. So much for finding out how many box-tops I need to mail in to get a twerking Venom action figure.

Luckily, this is still a fantastic week to be a Marvel Rivals player. The new Giant-Size Brain Blast mode is coming on Friday, and it looks primed to send us all back to a simpler age of gaming with some old-school big-headed-model action. There's also plenty of time left to grab Mantis' Flora Miden outfit, the Season 2 Twitch drops, and all the Hellfire Gala skins, so there's no point crying over spilled milk.

Oro's Treasure chests

Lego Fortnite Odyssey sees fresh excitement with the debut of Golden King Oro's Treasure Chests. However, there have been some known bugs that disrupt quest progression. So, if you want to learn how to complete this mission, here's how to find and use Oro's Treasure Chests.

How to get Oro's Treasure Chests in Lego Fortnite Odyssey

The April update kicked off a thrilling treasure hunt in Lego Fortnite Odyssey, tasking players with finding Golden Chests to unlock Golden King Oro's exclusive rewards. On the other hand, a new bug flipped the script and granted all three rewards instantly upon login. I tested it myself and received the complete decor bundle, with the Oro's Treasure quest marked as complete. While the quests didn't play out as intended, the official Lego Fortnite Status Twitter/X account confirmed they are investigating and will share updates once they've uncovered more.

Oro's Treasure Hunt quest
Screenshot by Destructoid

Given this announcement, it's possible that players who automatically received the chests may have them stripped away, forcing them to complete the quests the right way. Alternatively, the chests could simply remain in your inventory. The latter seems like the smoother option, but we won't know for sure until more details surface. Personally, I'm hoping for some new quests to be revealed, especially considering how light Odyssey felt compared to the massive Brick Life update.

Once the update rolls out, you'll likely need to follow the originally intended method by completing these achievements:

Chests How to Unlock How to Craft
The Antique Trunk Find two Golden Chests in A Chest Full of Treasure quest 2 Wood
1 Obsidian Slab
3 Iron Bar
The Azure Trunk Find five Golden Chests in Just a Little Treasure More quest 2 Malachite Slab
1 Obsidian Slab
3 Iron Bar
The Golden Trunk Find 10 Golden Chests in Treasure Beyond Measure! quest 2 Mahogany
1 Obsidian Slab
3 Gold Bar

Explore around the Lego Fortnite Odyssey map to discover the Golden Chests that spawn in random areas. To narrow down your search, you can follow butterflies, raid pirate camps, defeat bandits, and look around ruins to better your chances. Completing the quests will also reward you with more XP, paving the way for additional content.

How to use Oro's Treasure Chests in Lego Fortnite Odyssey

Unfortunately, due to the bug with Oro's Treasure Chests, many players have reported being unable to open them. This means you won't be able to store anything inside for the time being. The Lego Fortnite team is aware of the issue and is actively investigating a fix. So, stay tuned for updates.

Although you can't interact with the chests quite yet, you can still use them for decoration purposes. Their recipes are in the Build Menu's Furniture section via the Containers tab.

Oro's Treasure Chests offer more than your typical loot, boasting striking colors and unique decorations that set them apart. While they're not usable at the moment, you can explore the Village Chests in the Utility section, where you'll find Amber, Ruby, and Emerald Chests ready to add a bit of shine to your collection.

Sabrina Carpenter singing during a jam session in Fortnite

Weekly quests often push you to find and interact with features you may not use very often in Fortnite. The jam alone using all instruments at once task is one of these quests, and it's a decently tricky one to get done if you're not familiar with this system.

Mastering the gameplay mechanic included in this task not only allows you to complete all other jamming-related quests moving forward but also helps you freely start playing music at any time. It's a fun feature to interact with and one that comes up in quests nearly every season, so here's how to jam alone using all instruments at once in Fortnite.

How to jam using all instruments in Fortnite

Jamming with all instruments at once and completing the quest in Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can jam alone using all instruments at once in Fortnite by performing a Jam Loop on your own in any regular match. Accessing this feature can be a bit tricky, so here's a complete breakdown of all the essential steps in this process.

  • Load into a regular match. You can complete this task in Battle Royale or Zero Build Battle Royale.
  • Land anywhere on the island. It's best to choose somewhere that's likely not to have many enemy players wandering around to ensure you can focus on this quest without being interrupted. Some good spots to try are Whiffy Wharf, Shogun's Solitude, and Demon's Dojo. Unnamed locations, especially those around the edges of the island, are also a good choice.
  • Press the emote button. It varies by platform, but by default it's "B" on PC/the down button on the D-Pad on PlayStation/Xbox/Nintendo Switch. If this button doesn't work for you, open your settings and check your personal button presets.
  • Switch to the Jam Loops or Locker Jam Loops tab. Both options work for this task, so pick whichever one of the two you prefer.
  • Choose any song in either category. You can pick a track made by Epic Games or any you may have from popular artists with music in the game, like Sabrina Carpenter. I used "24K Magic" by Bruno Mars for this one, but any song you have works.

Locker jam loops and jam loops marked in fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid. Remix by Destructoid

  • Select which instrument you want to play. Any of them work, so choose whichever one you like. By default, you'll sing into the microphone, so you can also just leave it as is.
  • Make sure you are jamming alone and that no additional players join in. You must tackle this task entirely on your own to finish it. If other players try to join in, you need to end the session and start it again elsewhere.
  • Look for the colored instrument icons surrounding you as the jam session begins. As long as you are performing and see three icons around you, you're doing it right.
  • Jam out for a few seconds. It took around five seconds for the quest to complete when I did it.

Alongside Sabrina Carpenter's arrival in Fortnite on April 8, 2025, the Jam Loop system was reworked. Prior to this, you couldn't play all instruments on your own, so there's a decent chance this system feels entirely new to you.

After finishing this quest, there are lots of other tasks you can tackle around the island. You may want to work on getting all TMNT skins, searching a jewelry case, and spending bars on an Outlaw Flusher.

Oblivion horse armor DLC

Yes, you heard that right. If you played The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, you'll know about the infamous Horse Armor DLC that became the catalyst for an ever-growing DLC pack industry. Fast forward to 2025, and we have the horse armor returning alongside bonus pieces in Oblivion Remastered's Deluxe Edition.

Alongside the base game, Oblivion Remastered's Standard Edition features every DLC, including expansions, that existed in the original, letting you experience the full game without paying for everything separately again. Yes, that includes the Horse Armor, so you don't have to upgrade to Deluxe if you're mainly looking for a nostalgia trip. There's nothing quite like riding around on a horse that looks like it has sliced avocado all over it.

Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition features
Image via Bethesda

Deluxe Edition, on the other hand, comes with brand new quests to gain Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor sets and weapons. More importantly, in this case, there are two horse armor sets never seen in the series before. These two options, the Order and Cataclysm Horse Armor sets, come with the Deluxe Edition, available as an all-encompassing $59.99 version or a $9.99 upgrade if you own the base game.

Paid cosmetics, expansions, and even microtransactions are commonplace in the modern day. We're so desensitized at this point that it takes a lot to feel annoyance or frustration over them unless they start to toe the line of egregious or excessive. With the original Oblivion Horse Armor, we're looking at 2006 standards, back when this rarely happened. The backlash may have been fierce back then, but it's a fun memory nowadays.

Oblivion Remastered's Standard Edition is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 or through a Game Pass subscription. Bethesda has priced its Deluxe Edition at $59.99, with a separate upgrade also available if you're on the fence and need extra time to consider it.

Marvel Rivals Loki big head

Marvel Rivals just teased a surprise new game mode coming later this week, and it's one filled with nostalgia and pure fun to take a break from the sweat of ranked matches.

The new Giant-Size Brain Blast mode in Marvel Rivals is reminiscent of old school games where you could enter cheat codes (button combinations that existed before microtransactions) to get cool features, like giving all of the characters in a game comically large heads.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOzsmite59I

And that's exactly what's going on in Giant-Size Brain Blast. The silly mode inflates the head sizes of the game's characters for maximum headshot accuracy and massive hilarity. But it does have some free rewards to earn, too.

Player titles will be up for grabs for those who rank in the top 500, top 100, and top 10 for each hero after individual rounds of the event. Giant-Sized-Brain (hero name), Monster-Sized-Brain (hero name), and Planet-Sized-Brain (hero name) can be grabbed, respectively.

But there's more for those who simply want to participate and get a kick out of the mode. Completing 10 matches will allow players to pick a Brain Blast emote for each hero in the game, which will allow their heads to balloon for a short period of time after the event comes to an end to commemorate the large skull memories.

Giant-Size Brain Blast is a variant of the Doom Match free-for-all mode, pitting players in a game of every hero for themselves, the way it used to be back in the split-screen multiplayer days. The multiplayer games have evolved, but the fun of seeing a character with a massive noggin still remains.

The limited time mode is available starting on April 25 in addition to the game's existing modes, so those who wish to avoid the bigheadedness altogether can do so just fine, but they will be missing out on some good, silly fun in the meantime.

The post Marvel Rivals nostalgic 'big head mode' launches this week, and I'll probably still struggle to hit headshots appeared first on Destructoid.

escoffier genshin impact build guide

Escoffier is an upcoming Cryo character in Genshin Impact. According to her leaked beta kit, she is a strong Cryo sub-DPS and support Hybrid unit that will make Cryo teams great again.

This article will provide a simple guide on how to build Escoffier. You can find her best artifacts, weapons, and team comps below. It's based on the leaks, so it's subject to change.

Best Escoffier build in Genshin Impact

Best artifacts for Escoffier

Golden Troupe

golden troupe is escoffier's best artifact set
Screenshot by Destructoid

Golden Troupe is undoubtedly Escoffier's best artifact set in Genshin Impact. Since she can perform coordinated attacks even when off-field after casting her Elemental Skill, this set will significantly boost her damage.

Tenacity of the Millelith

Tenacity of the Millelith is good for buff party's attack
Screenshot by Destructoid

If you wish to play Escoffier more as a support, you can also go for the Tenacity of the Millelith artifact set. While the HP% 2-pc set bonus will be useless on her, she can buff her party members' ATK with the 4-pc set bonus. With the right stats on the artifact, you probably also wouldn't lose out on Escoffier's personal damage.

Golden Troupe + Blizzard Strayer

Golden Troupe and Blizzard Strayer combo for best escoffier build
Screenshot by Destructoid

A 2-piece and 2-piece combo of the Golden Troupe and Blizzard Strayer sets is also a viable option. The former will give Escoffier Elemental Skill DMG Bonus, while the latter will increase her Cryo DMG Bonus.

Artifact stats

Here are the stats that you must prioritize when building Escoffier in Genshin Impact:

Sands ATK%
Goblet ATK% or Cryo DMG Bonus
Circlet CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG or ATK%
Sub-stats ATK%, ATK, Energy Recharge, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG

You need to build as much ATK as possible on the artifacts and weapons since Escoffier's healing scales with her ATK. That said, if you feel you have enough ATK, you can focus on other stats too.

Best weapons for Escoffier

Symphonist of Scents

Symphonist of Scents is a new 5-star Polearm and Escoffier's signature weapon. According to the beta leaks, this weapon provides a 66.2% CRIT DMG bonus from its second stat. Additionally, the passive increases the equipping character's ATK by a huge amount through different effects, making Symphonist of Scents Escoffier's signature weapon.

Calamity Queller

calamity queller genshin impact
Image via HoYoverse

Calamity Queller is an excellent option for Escoffier. It already has the highest Base ATK among the weapons in the game, and on top of that, it provides a ton of ATK bonuses from both its second stat and passive. Furthermore, the equipping characters gain a decent amount of Elemental DMG bonus, so Escoffier won't lose out on a lot of overall damage output.

However, you will want to focus more on CRIT stats when farming artifacts.

Deathmatch

Deathmatch is a battle pass weapon
Screenshot by Destructoid

Deathmatch is another great weapon choice for Escoffier. It has a CRIT Rate second stat for consistent critical hits. Furthermore, the weapon's passive increases the character's ATK, so it will help Escoffier with her healing too. However, Deathmatch is a Battle Pass weapon, and buying it specifically for the Fontainian chef is not worth it. But go for it if you already have the 4-star Polearm.

Tamayuratei no Ohanashi

Tamayuratei no Ohanashi is one of Escoffier's best F2p weapon
Screenshot by Destructoid

Tamayuratei no Ohanashi is one of the best F2P weapons for Escoffier. It has an Energy Recharge second stat, which will help you with smoother rotation. Furthermore, the weapon's passive gives a huge ATK boost, increasing Escoffier's healing output. Tamayuratei no Ohanashi is an event weapon from version 5.5, so if you missed the event, it's better to look for another F2P option.

Favonius Lance

Favonius Lance is a good F2p weapon
Screenshot by Destructoid

Favonius Lance is another good F2P option for the renowned chef from Fontaine. While it won't increase Escoffier's overall damage, it will allow you to play her as a battery for the team.

Talent priority

Escoffier's talent priority is pretty straightforward. If you want a healer build, level up her Elemental Burst first, followed by her Elemental Skill. If you want a more balanced build where Escoffier doesn't lose overall damage output, level up her Elemental Skill before Burst. You can ignore her Normal Attacks.

Best teams for Escoffier

escoffier, ayaka, furina, and shenhe - best escoffier teams
Image via HoYoverse

Listed below are some of the best teams for Escoffier in Genshin Impact:

  • Escoffier + Ayaka + Furina + Shenhe
  • Escoffier + Wriothesley + Yelan + Furina
  • Escoffier + Ganyu + Furina + Shenhe
  • Escoffier + Neuvillette + Furina + Citlali

The team comps for Escoffier are currently limited, but we can expect more teams soon when more Cryo characters are released.

While waiting for Escoffier's release, you can check out her ascension and talent materials guide.

Remember that Escoffier's build guide is based on her leaked kit, so it is subject to change.

A player standing next to their units in Anime Rangers X Roblox experience

Tower defense games are all about bringing the best units with you to the stage. Anime Rangers X is different from your usual TD games on Roblox. However, the same rule applies to it as well. So, we prepared the following Anime Rangers X (ARX) units tier list to help you choose which units to roll for and finally bring into battle with you.

Anime Rangers X (ARX) Units Tier List

A tier list of all units in Anime Rangers X that goes as follows: Meta-tier: Fire Fist, Legendary Saiyan (Super), Bunny (Full Moon), Eclipse Sorcerer, Yuno, Molten Phantom, King of Shadows (Monarch), Solar Fist, Demon Slayer (Sun Breathing), Cursed Love; S+-tier: Limitless Sorcerer (Infinite) Shadow Knight, Legendary Saiyan, Bunny, String Demon, Knight King (Chaos), Crow Ninja, King Curses Thunder Sword; S-tier: Vampire Emperor (Vampire), King of Shadows, Limitless Sorcerer, King Ant, One Arm Pirate, Green Tornado, Tank Top Hero, Cursed Fist, Bunny Girl, Saiyan Warrior (Super); A-tier: Knight King, Otaku (Speed), Cyborg (Ultimate), Leaf Ninja (Sage), Black Leg (Hellfire) Eternal Avenger (Cursed), Silent Sting, Porcoro (Dragon), Tidal Tyrant (Infernal), Vampire Emperor; B-tier: Otaku, Hawk Swordsman, Light Admiral, Shadow Reaver, Thunder God, Doctor Pirate; C-tier Cyborg, Hero on Wheels, Eternal Avenger, Killer, Porcoro, Demon Slayer, Speed Ninja, Tidal Tyrant; D-tier: Rubber Pirate, Black Leg, Leaf Ninja, Chao, Pink Ninja, Hepburn, Sunshine, Prince, Pirate Hunter, Sniper King, Saiyan Warrior
All Anime Rangers X units ranked from best to worst — Images via Anime Rangers X Fandom Wiki and TierMaker

The above Anime Rangers X (ARX) units tier list ranks all units based on how good they are for both Story and the Infinity Castle. When ranking units, we took into consideration all of their stats: HP, DPS, Range, Speed, and Ability damage. As a rule of thumb, rarer and more expensive units in Anime Rangers X are stronger, and that is why most of them are at the top of the tier list.

Some ARX units have evolutions that significantly alter them. For example, the evolved version of Demon Slayer, which is an Epic unit, is one of the best units in the game. Thus, because these variations are so different, we included all of them in our Anime Rangers X units tier list. Below, you can find a list of every Secret, Mythic, and Legendary unit in ARX, separated by their rank on the tier list.

The four ninja turtles posed for battle in Fortnite

Fortnite has a vast and ever-growing collection of skins you can unlock and play as around the island. This includes many unique looks from iconic shows, movies, comics, and other such content. One of the larger collections is theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles skins.

There are lots of iconic characters featured in this series, so if you're a fan, knowing how to acquire all of them is a must. Here are all the TMNT skins and how to get them in Fortnite.

All Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle skins in Fortnite

There are 11 skins in the TMNT collaboration with Fortnite. There's technically one extra look if you count Super Shredder, a skin that exists separately from regular Shredder. All of the TMNT skins are as follows.

  • Leonardo
  • Donatello
  • Michelangelo
  • Raphael
  • Splinter
  • April O'Neil
  • Shredder/Super Shredder
  • Casey Jones
  • Rocksteady
  • Bebop
  • Krang's Android

How to get Leonardo in Fortnite

Leonardo, the leader of the main TMNT crew, can be purchased from the item shop. He's sold individually for 1,600 V-Bucks or as part of the TMNT Bundle alongside the rest of his brothers for 3,400 V-Bucks. He returns to the shop with the rest of the group on a fairly regular basis, so be sure to check it often if you're hoping to add him to your collection.

How to get Donatello in Fortnite

Donatello, the genius of the group, can be purchased alone for 1,600 V-Bucks or unlocked through the TMNT Bundle for 3,400 V-Bucks if you're interested in getting the other three main characters too. How to get Michelangelo in Fortnite

Michelangelo, the most carefree member of the team, can be unlocked from the item shop for 1,600 V-Bucks if you're only interested in obtaining him, or 3,400 V-Bucks if you also want to grab some accessories and the rest of the core group through the TMNT Bundle.

Raphael, the strongest and most combative turtle, is the last member of the core TMNT team. He can also be bought alone for 1,600 V-Bucks or acquired from the TMNT Bundle for 3,400 V-Bucks. All of the turtles are the same price individually and are discounted if you purchase them all together.

How to get Splinter in Fortnite

Splinter, the squad's sensei, is only sold individually in the item shop. He costs 1,500 V-Bucks, which makes him a bit cheaper than the main TMNT group. He also comes with the Splinter's Pack Back Bling.

How to get April O'Neil in Fortnite

You can purchase April O'Neil from the item shop alone for 1,500 V-Bucks or as part of the April O'Neil Bundle for 1,800 V-Bucks. She doesn't come with anything outside the bundle, which includes the Channel 6 News Camera Back Bling, the Boom Mic Pickaxe, the Hero Half Shell Back Bling, and nine TMNT-themed Sprays.

How to get Shredder in Fortnite

The regular Shredder outfit and the Super Shredder skin can be obtained from the item shop for 2,000 V-Bucks. They're only sold together as part of the Shredder Bundle with the Shredder's Steel Claw Pickaxe, Shredder's Cape Back Bling, and Super Shredder's Cape Back Bling.

The classic Shredder style was first offered as a prize on the premium reward track in the Cowabunga event. This event was only live from Feb. 9 to 27 in 2024, so he was later added as an item shop skin for the players who missed out on it.

His speculated price is 1,600 V-Bucks, but he is believed to come with a Pickaxe and built-in Emote. You can also get him in a bundle for 3,200 V-Bucks. We'll update all relevant details here with exact prices as soon as he and the other new TMNT skins are released.

If you need more V-Bucks to purchase the many skins featured in this collaboration, consider working on quests to level up in the battle pass. Some good ones to tackle are searching a jewelry case, spending bars on an Outlaw Flusher, and all Wanted: Baron quests.
