Intel could be cooking up a new high-end Battlemage gaming GPU to take on Nvidia

An Intel GPU that was previously thought to have been cancelled has resurfaced in several recent shipping manifests. The documents, believed to show stock moving between different Intel labs, give strong credibility to speculation that the chipmaker is indeed working on a new high-end Battlemage GPU for gamers.

If that's the case, it's likely to gain a lot of interest, as Intel did surprisingly well with its most recent entry into the GPU market. The Intel Arc B580 offered hope to budget gamers with strong performance for just $249, even if stock has been hard to find at MSRP, but recent Intel Battlemage rumors seemed to suggest that Intel had given up on the market in the face of stiff competition from AMD and Nvidia.

One of the best strategy series ever, you can get all 17 XCOM games for $10

The story in XCOM is minimal. There aren't many cutscenes. The dialogue is sparse. The characters are functional archetypes. And yet, the MicroProse and Firaxis strategy series boasts some of the most shocking, tense, and memorable dramatic moments in the history of PC gaming. This is what makes XCOM special. It's all mechanics, but out of its fastidiously designed turn-based tactics and combat, you inevitably get personal takes of sacrifice, defeat, and victory - everyone has that one XCOM soldier, that nightmarish, ill-fated mission. While Civilization 7 has Firaxis attention for now, hopefully, XCOM 3 will happen one day. In the meantime, the entire series - every game and DLC - is available for the single price of $10.

New Space Marine 2 mod lets you play co-op with 12 people, and it's utter chaos

The true allure of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is the chaos, whether or not the Emperor's keen to admit it. Xeno guts fly. Chainswords roar. Your comrades bark orders or fall at your side. Amid the death and destruction, there's a sense of pure exhilaration; of life. But, at the moment, you can only experience the heat of battle with two other friends as part of a three-person squad. What if you could experience it as a twelve-stack? Well, modder 'Warhammer Workshop' has answered your prayers, and it's chaos of the best kind (not that there is a good kind, of course).

     Best soulslike games in 2025

What are the best soulslike games? An off-shoot of action RPGs, the defining principles of this ever-growing subgenre sprung up from Demon's Souls back in 2009. However, it took the release of its spiritual successor two years later to really light a fire under fans. FromSoftware's Dark Souls is a landmark game in many respects, but the soulslike genre is its greatest legacy.

While efforts have been made to diversify soulslike games in recent years, patience in the face of adversity remains the focal point. Characterized by punishing stamina-based combat, risk-reward currency systems, and challenging bosses, victory leads to progression through rich worlds that often capture a dark fantasy game aesthetic. Whether you're a newcomer who's not sure where to start or an RPG game veteran looking for a new challenge, we've got the very best soulslikes on PC you can play right now.

The best indie games on PC 2025

What are the best indie games? The great indie boom triggered by digital distribution over a decade ago turned out to be more of a Big Bang, firing small-team development into a plethora of directions that now defy simple categorisation. The sheer volume is intimidating, so we have plenty to choose from when compiling our list of the best indie games. Perhaps too much.

But we should take stock, from time to time, to appreciate everything indie development has given us. Some of the games listed below were built in a weekend by first-time coders, while others were crafted by former triple-A creators who've instilled their independent work with the same technical standards. They barely have anything in common but a healthy dose of idiosyncrasy and ideas that make Steam worth spelunking and make our list of the best PC games.

Arise, Kindred, there's blood to be spilled and a power vacuum that's in desperate need of filling.

New city-building game Memoriapolis feels like Manor Lords in Ancient Rome

I always wondered how the advisors in SimCity actually decided on their advice. You could never make them happy. They'd complain about the lack of a fire station, for example, and so you'd build a fire station. But then they'd be on your back about how the fire station doesn't cover the town's whole fire radius. And then it would be wages for the firefighters. And then a second fire station. Such is the eternal, municipal nightmare of city-building games. But Memoriapolis, freshly arrived from early access into its full 1.0 form, lets you take a direct, if morally dubious, role in politics. If you like Manor Lords and Cities Skylines 2, but also long for the gleaming marble of Ancient Rome, this is well worth a try.

Acer just made the cheapest 600Hz gaming monitor, costs more than an OLED

Acer has just unveiled the cheapest 600Hz gaming monitor that money can buy. The Acer Nitro XV240 F6 is a super-fast display that seems perfect for the competitive esports market, with a ridiculously quick 600Hz refresh rate and a price tag that makes it both an incredible bargain and a huge expense, depending on what you're looking for.

This Acer display could be a serious best gaming monitor contender for competitive gameplay with these specs, although the $699.99 cost is likely to put off a lot of gamers. Acer demoed this particular monitor at the IFA trade show last year, although our Acer Nitro XV240 F6 hands-on didn't give us the chance to push it to its top refresh rate and see its full potential in-person.

Back in the decidedly less macabre context of a week ago, I played a few matches of Apex Legends' Season 25, which centres around new legend Sparrow. His debut is scheduled for May 6th, barely enough time for EA's ink to dry on their mass laying-off of the people that made him (fifth most played game on Steam, y'know, maybe tells you something). The developers quickly shut down the servers and rolled back the game, leading to a five-hour outage and a bunch of players who are now even more annoyed than they have been in recent weeks. Well, no more, say the big wigs. The games have "reached the end of the road", they say. Trump Tariffs Result in Xbox Console and Controller, and Accessory Price Hikes

Following implementation of the tariffs inflicted by President Donald Trump, Microsoft will increase the price Xbox Series X and S console, controller, and accessory options in the US and worldwide. These will take effect in May 2025, with some of the cost increases going up by about $100 on systems, though stores like Amazon are still showing the lower prices. The Microsoft Store already reflects the new costs. This comes after Trump stated that Americans would need to accept smaller selections and higher prices and said, "Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls. So maybe the two dolls will cost a couple bucks more than they would normally." Microsoft itself didn't mention the tariffs that raised the costs of items in the US. [Thanks, Windows Central!]

Here's the list of the new Xbox console price changes as a result of things like the Trump tariffs when compared to the old ones. One of the smallest changes applies to both the 512GB and 1TB Xbox Series S systems, which will each be going up by $80.

  • The Xbox Series S 512GB model was $299.99, and it will go up to $379.99.
  • The Xbox Series S 1TB model was $349.99, and it will go up to $429.99.
  • The Xbox Series X 1TB digital edition was $449.99, and it will go up to $549.99.
  • The Xbox Series X 1TB was $499.99, and it will go up to $599.99.
  • The Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition was $599.99, and it will go up to $729.99.

Many retailers are still showing the past prices. For example, Best Buy has the $599.99 tag on the Galaxy Black Special Edition, but the Microsoft Store now shows it as starting at $729.99. GameStop also still shows the base 1TB system as $499.99.

The controller price increases are relatively smaller. For example, a Microsoft Xbox Series X Wireless Controller Carbon Black was $59.99, but it will go up to $64.99. The Microsoft Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 core version was $129.99 and will go up to $149.99.

Microsoft isn't the only company raising the price of various console options following the Trump tariffs. Sony brought up PlayStation cost changes in April 2025. Nintendo delayed Switch 2 pre-orders because of them. Other companies, such as Good Smile Company and the Square Enix Store, stopped taking pre-orders.

Microsoft Xbox console, controller, and accessory prices are now more expensive as a result of the Trump tariffs.

New Lego Animal Crossing and Super Mario Sets Leak

While Lego and Nintendo didn't officially reveal the new Animal Crossing and Super Mario sets, leaks online via Reddit and Wario64 resulted images of the apparent August 2025 sets appearing online. There are nine new Nintendo sets total, and among them are ones with Wario, Captain Toad, and Blather's museum.

Since only images appeared, we don't have exact prices for things. However, the photos that appeared online do show the box art and the finished sets. First, here's the list of Super Mario Lego sets that include a mix of enemies and Mario Kart builds. There are references to Super Mario Wonder and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker too.

  • 72038: Wario and King Boo (Note: This is a Mario Kart set.)
  • 72039: Bowser's Castle (Note: This is a Mario Kart set.)
  • 72040: Captain Toad's Camp
  • 72041: Party at Toad's House
  • 72042: Prince Florian and Castle Bowser
  • 72043: Interactive Lego Mario and Standard Kart

Here's the photo that appeared online and showed all of those sets:

As for the three Animal Crossing Lego sets, these all involve buildings like Blather's museum and help build up a town. The smallest one consists of 149 pieces and the first "small" house, while the set with two houses is biggest at 814 pieces. Here's the full list:

  • 77056: Blathers' Museum Collection (Note: The villager included alongside Blathers the owl is Lily the frog.)
  • 77057: Creative Houses: Seasons of Fun (Note: The villagers in this set include Fuchsia the deer, Fang the wolf, and Stitches the bear.)
  • 77058: Lily's Cozy House

Here's how those three leaks look:

As a note, some of the older Animal Crossing Lego sets are currently on sale at stores like Amazon. Some of the more notable ones include the 77050: Nook's Cranny and Rosie's House set for $52.99 instead of $74.99 and the 77052: K.K.'s Concert in the Plaza for $44.19 instead of $79.99.

The new Super Mario and Animal Crossing sets will apparently debut in August 2025.

Persona 5 Akechi Goro Crow Phantom Thief ARTFX J figure by Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya has revealed that it will restock its ARTFX J figure of Goro "Crow" Akechi from Persona 5. Originally available in 2018, the company will re-release the figure in November 2025.

This figure depicts Crow in his Phantom Thief attire, as he holds his mask and saber in each of his hands. The figure has a scale of 1/8 with a total height of 27 cm (~10.63 inches), which is measured from the slanted base support to the tip of Crow's head.

Here are some of the sample images for the figure, taken from multiple sides:

The restocked figure will cost 14,300 yen (~$99.10). Kotobukiya has put up a listing for the figure on its own online shop with guaranteed stocks for orders made by Tuesday, June 24, 2025. However, it can only ship the product domestically in Japan. People residing elsewhere worldwide can alternatively place orders on other websites that support global shipping, such as AmiAmi and HobbyLink Japan.

Considering the initial release date, this figure is one of the rare entries that feature the original Persona 5 logo. Most of the more recent figures, such as the 2022 Lucrea figure of Akechi in his Loki attire, use the logo for the enhanced Persona 5 Royal, which Atlus released first in Japan in October 2019.

The 2018 ARTFX J figure of Persona 5's Goro "Crow" Akechi in his Phantom Thief attire will be available again in November 2025.

Squirreled Away Is a Crafting Game With Lower Stakes

I love games with crafting and survival elements, but find I just can't devote 20-40 hours to them anymore. There's only so much time, you know? Also, some of those are best enjoyed with other people, and again that means finding a game everyone can enjoy. While Squirreled Away still can be a little buggy, I really appreciate this being a more tidy sort of title in the genre, especially since the expected commitment and themes mean it's easier to convince others to try it.

As the title suggests, Squirreled Away is a game about being a squirrel. You're a newcomer who heads to a park and different areas, assisting other animals and building up quaint homes for yourself. This means gathering resources and searching for collectible-like items and materials to fulfill requests, craft tools, and build up a treehouse and furniture.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVDxSOmFM7Y&ab_channel=SquirreledAway

Part of what makes Squirreled Away stand out among other types of crafting games or ones that would maintain a "new to a wooded area with just your bare hands" title is that it also feels a bit like a comfortable platformer. Instead of harsh tutorials, worrying about your status, or trying to figure things out on your own, Far Seas handles it more like an action-adventure game. The other animals you meet, like the initial squirrels and turtle, aren't just there for flavor. Their quests are educational. They guide you along the way.

So even though there isn't a major story to Squirreled Away, there's a sense of structure that really helps the game. It's still quite freeform. You can take your time. Controls work great, both on the ground, when climbing trees, or when gliding. (I did experience some pretty major camera issues initially when climbing and sometimes gliding, with the camera sometimes still being an issue when scaling trees.) But even though you have the opportunity to take your time and do what you want when you want, having these other animal NPCs to act as quest givers and inject personality help.

That also helps a little with the fact that there can be quite a bit of grind in Squirreled Away. Which seems a little unavoidable for these types of games. After all, it's about gathering resources, running errands, exploring, and crafting. As you build up a treehouse and start aiming for goalposts or quest objectives, you're going to engage in a lot of repetitious activities. However, getting to also involve other people or take time to interact with those NPCs helps. So does knowing I don't have a desperate struggle to stay alive. There's a sense of safety in it all. As long as you play in like 20-60 minute sessions, it seems fine. It reminds me a bit of Little Kitty, Big City.

There are some minor issues with Squirreled Away that come up! However, the developer Far Seas seems to be handling them fairly swiftly with patches. I actually am avoiding writing this as a review because I've seen some issues I encountered get remedied as I've been playing. For example, I went through the save file corruption issue and needed to wait for the patch. I experienced an issue with Daredevil the squirrel and his cannon, and which only just got remedied. I'm currently experiencing issues with how things look when I run and staying in a multiplayer session, and sometimes when I go gathering I'll not get the pebble, berry, or item I was supposed to. I wouldn't feel right scoring a game from a smaller developer that is clearly getting where it needs to be, even though it isn't there yet. Maybe it will even fully support Steam Decks in a few weeks or months.

Because Squirreled Away ended up packed with potential. It's a pleasant, colorful adventure that gives us the idea of a survival and crafting game, even with friends, but without feeling the pressures of that type of title. It's bright, colorful, and filled with personality. Playing in smaller doses to avoid repetition is advised, as is perhaps saving and stepping away for a bit to ensure you have backups in case of bugs. But it's generally delightful.

Squirreled Away is available on PCs.

A player in a long sunset ombre dress standing with Flynn, Daisy, Remy, Vanellope, and Aladdin by a gazebo in disney dreamlight valley

With so many characters hanging around the villagers in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it can often be tough to determine who you need to interact with for Star Path duties. One of the trickier quests you'll come across asks you to give some feathered villagers their favorite gifts.

To ensure you don't waste resources, it's best to solve clues before you start trying to work on them. You can make guesses for Star Path quests, but if you're wrong, you'll lose precious materials and not make any progress. If this one has you stumped, here's how to give some feathered villagers their favorite gifts in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Who are the feathered villagers in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Taking a picture with Scrooge McDuck in DDV
Screenshot by Destructoid

There are three feathered villagers you can interact with for this Star Path task:

  • Daisy Duck
  • Donald Duck
  • Scrooge McDuck

All three characters are birds with feathers, which makes them feathered villagers for the Star Path hint. Their feathers aren't really visible in DDV, so you may have overlooked this part of their appearance.

There are lots of unique creatures and characters wandering around the vast valley, so trying to sort through them all to find which ones count as feathered is decently tough, especially since none of them appear to have them. Even the three villagers who count for this task don't look feathered in DDV, but since they're birds, this task is still referencing them.

Give some feathered villagers their favorite gifts in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To finish the give some feathered villagers their favorite gifts duty for the Garden of Whimsy Star Path event, you need to give a total of 20 gifts to Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, and Scrooge McDuck. This task takes quite a while to get done since each villager only has three favorite items each day.

Some other Star Path tasks, like the one that asks you to give gifts to a blonde, allow you to give away as many gifts as you want per day to get it done. This specific task includes the word "favorite" before gifts, though, which means only items requested by villagers count for it. You can give them additional gifts, but anything beyond their three chosen items won't count.

Because of this rule, a maximum of nine gifts can be counted per day, assuming you give each of the three feathered villagers all of their requested items. It takes at least three days to get this task done, which makes it one of the tougher tasks to navigate through.

Taking a picture with Daisy Duck in the boutique in DDV

For finishing this Star Path duty, you get 20 Tokens to spend on whatever you desire. This is the maximum amount of Tokens you can get from a single event task, but this one does take quite a lot of effort to finish.

Since this one takes a while to get done, it's worth slowly chipping away at this task over time while you prioritize easier and more rewarding quests. You'll likely need to finish several other Star Path quests to save up for the bigger rewards. To earn more Tokens, you might want to try chatting with a curious young villagergiving Arendelle's Queen her favorites, and digging up a root vegetable with many eyes.

Rediscover Pokemon Go Update artwork

The Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour schedule for the month of May has been announced, and there are plenty of exciting tasks for players to enjoy.

The full schedule was revealed on the first day of the month, and no, there are no surprises. There will be four Spotlight hours during the fourth month of the year, and this guide will provide you with all the important details.

Next Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour date and time

The next Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour is on May 6, 2025, between 6 and 6:59 p.m. local time. The first Spotlight Hour in May will be about Furfrou, and players will get double candy after successfully transferring their catches.

The four Spotlight hours will take place on the second, third, fourth, and fifth Tuesdays, respectively.

Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour schedule for May 2025

Here's the full Spotlight Hour schedule for May 2025:

Spotlight Hour Date Time Spotlight Pokemon All Bonus Can you get Shiny Pokémon?
May 6, 2025 6 - 7 p.m. local time Furfrou Double transferring Candy Yes
May 13, 2025 6 - 7 p.m. local time Sandygast Double Evolution XP Yes
May 20, 2025 6 - 7 p.m. local time Poochyena Double Catch Stardust Yes
May 27, 2025 6 - 7 p.m. local time Golett Double Catch XP Yes

While the spawn rate of the selected creatures increases during Spotlight Hour, the bonus earned will apply to all.

How to prepare for Spotlight Hour in Pokémon Go

You can prepare for an upcoming Spotlight Hour by acquiring as many Poké Balls and Berries as possible. If you're taking full advantage of this hour, you'll likely use a lot of Poké Balls, just as you would when setting up Incense or Lure Modules. The Berries can help, too, if the Pokémon is trying to make a grand escape when capturing it.

Poke Balls in Pokemon Go
Image via Niantic

Fortunately, it's pretty easy to get Poké Balls and Berries, including activities like spinning Gym stops and opening gifts from friends. Regular Poké Balls should work fine, but you can utilize the advanced versions like Great and Ultra Balls.

This Pokémon Go event also provides special bonuses to give you an extra hand with XP, Stardust, and Candy.

Can you increase your chances of getting Shiny Pokémon during Spotlight Hour?

Although you can get a Shiny Pokémon during Spotlight Hour, unfortunately, you can't increase your chances. The spawn rates are already boosted during this time of the day, but you can increase your chances of catching one using Incense and Lures.

Pokemon Go Incense
Image via Niantic

However, even with Incense and Lures, Shinies still aren't guaranteed. I once caught more than 50 creatures in a Spotlight Hour, and not once did it give me a Shiny variant. It's a relatively unpredictable system, but that's just the way it goes in the world of Pokémon Go.

If you want to boost your chances of getting a Shiny variant, test your skills in raids. To keep track of this event's schedule, here's a breakdown of upcoming Pokémon Go raids.

Ultron holding out his hand with an army behind him in marvel rivals

Marvel Rivals is continuously evolving with new additions and adjustments to already existing characters and gameplay features. Season 2.5 is the next major game update that's set to be released, so you may be wondering when you can expect to see it.

Since season 2.5 is the halfway point through the overarching season 2, it won't be quite as big as a regular seasonal update. It's still going to be packed with plenty of new content to explore, though, so you'll want to jump in and start exploring it as soon as it's available. Here's when season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals will begin.

When is Marvel Rivals season 2.5?

Ultron Face in Marvel Rivals

Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals will launch on May 30. We know this is when it will begin because there's a countdown to the end of season two on Competitive. As soon as the current Competitive season ends, season 2.5 begins.

A precise launch time for season 2.5 hasn't been announced, but based on past updates, it's expected to start at 3am CT. If a different time is shared, we'll update all relevant details here, but so far, this has reliably been the start time for all new seasons.

Our countdown is set to the precise launch time, so you can check back here leading up to the start of season 2.5. We've also listed this time across several major time zones if you want to know the exact start time for your region.

[hurrytimer id="1061401"]

  • PT: 1am on May 30
  • CT: 3am on May 30
  • ET: 4am on May 30
  • BST: 9am on May 30
  • CEST: 10am on May 30
  • JST: 5pm on May 30
  • AEST: 6pm on May 30

How long is season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals?

Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals will last for about a month and a half. The entirety of season two is slated to run for three months, with each half taking up roughly a month and a half. Season 2 starts on May 11, so season 2.5 will conclude on July 11. The end date listed on the battle pass also lines up with this, so we know exactly when season 3 will begin.

What's included in Marvel Rivals season 2.5?

We don't know a ton about season 2.5 so far, but there are some key details that have already been revealed. Ultron will officially be joining the roster as a Strategist unit. Although his abilities haven't been officially revealed so far, Ultron's full kit and abilities have been leaked, so we already have a solid idea of what he's expected to be capable of.

If season 2.5 follows the same pattern as past updates, it should also bring a new map. Some leaks have said we'll be getting Arakko as a new Convoy map. No other possible maps have been teased for season 2.5, so Arakko seems to be the most likely one to join the lineup.

Season 2.5 will also see several major balance changes according to the Dev Vision that aired on April 3, 2025. Characters like Jeff the Land Shark, Peni Parker, Scarlet Witch, Mister Fantastic, and Rocket Raccoon may undergo changes since they were mentioned in this video. Some of them already received a few adjustments, but the devs implied that there may be more changes and fresh Team-Ups to further boost their capabilities in season 2.5.

There are also sure to be plenty of new events, skins, rewards, game modes, and other such additions throughout season 2.5. All new seasons have lots of surprises, too, so we'll have to wait and see what else season 2.5 has in store.

A character wielding a lightsaber posing with Vanessa/Ursula, Flynn, Ariel, and Alice in Disney Dreamlight Valley

One of the more confusing hints you'll come across in Disney Dreamlight Valley's Star Path event tasks you with finding a curious villager. It's a vague clue that could apply to many different characters, but only one works for this task.

You need to interact with the curious villager for two duties in the Garden of Whimsy Star Path event, so learning who they are early on is crucial for progressing through it. Here's who the curious villager is in Disney Dreamlight Valley and how to complete the quests associated with them.

Who is the curious villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Alice wandering through a forest in a Realm in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Screenshot by Destructoid

The curious villager in DDV is Alice from Alice in Wonderland. In the context of this clue, she's being referred to as odd or strange rather than inquisitive and eager to learn. It's also likely a reference to her iconic quote, "Curioser and curioser." If you don't interpret this hint the right way, solving it can be fairly tough.

This is one of the trickier paths in the Star Path since you could make a case that most villagers should fit this description. Characters like Merlin, Wall-E, Belle, and Olaf especially seem like they should fit this task since they're all super inquisitive. There's even another Star Path duty that refers to Wall-E as a "curious robot."

For the meaning of this specific quest, though, no other characters count. Alice is the only individual who is curious in a peculiar and bizarre way, so she's the one you need to interact with for all Star Path quests that mention a curious villager.

Give a curious villager their favorite gifts in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To finish the give a curious villager their favorite gifts duty in the Garden of Whimsy Star Path event, you need to give Alice five of her favorite items of the day. Some tasks, like the one that asks you to give gifts to a blonde, allow you to give away any items you like to make progress. This isn't the case with this specific quest, though, as only items requested by Alice count.

Alice only has three favorite items per day, so finishing this duty takes a minimum of two days. You get 20 Tokens for completing it, which is the most you can acquire from any one Star Path task. It takes a bit of patience, but the reward is well worth the effort you put in.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Alice
Screenshot by Destructoid

Chat with a curious young villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The chat with a curious young villager task also refers to Alice, so to finish this one, you need to have two daily discussions with Alice. You can only have one of these talks with each villager per day, so this quest also takes two days to get done.

This duty is a bit simpler, so you only get 15 Tokens for completing it. It's still a solid reward for the fairly minimal work you have to do to get it done, so it's certainly a task that's worth prioritizing.

If you need more Tokens to spend in the Garden of Whimsy Star Path event, there are plenty of other tricky tasks you can work through next. Some good ones to tackle are giving Arendelle's Queen her favoritesdigging up a root vegetable with many eyes, and practicing mine-fulness.

Delta Force Hawk Ops operators

Team Jade's tactical shooter, Delta Force, offers a sizeable roster of Operators to choose from. For those familiar with other online FPS titles, think of it as more like Rainbow Six Siege. Every Operator has their own role to fill in multiplayer, each with a tailored kit that caters to those playstyles.

Warfare — Delta Force's multiplayer game mode — deploys these units with gear, traits, and weapons to fit their respective jobs. As you feel out your favored class and weapons, use our breakdown below of all Delta Force Operators to learn who excels at what in better detail.

D-Wolf (Kai Silva)

D-Wolf delta force hawk ops
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Class: Assault
  • Tactical Gear: Motorized Exoskeleton
  • Gadget 1: Triple Blaster
  • Gadget 2: Tactical Smoke Grenade
  • Trait: Tactical Slide

D-Wolf belongs to the Assault class, meaning this Operator moves faster than the others in the game. Specializing in raw gunplay capabilities and coupled with his helpful mobility, Kai Silva is one of the best picks for showdowns in multiplayer.

Silva's tactical gear, the Motorized Exoskeleton, temporarily increases his Movement Speed and RoF. It also recovers HP and Stamina when you knock an enemy down, further extending its handy Overload function.

Triple Blaster launches three handheld grenades that can also attach to vehicles. Tactical Smoke Grenade, as the name suggests, emits a cloud of smoke that dissolves quickly after impact, but can be useful for cover while reviving teammates. Tactical Slide provides another speed boost, making D-Wolf slide a bit faster.

Hackclaw (Mai Xiaowen)

Hackclaw delta force hawk ops
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Class: Recon
  • Tactical Gear: Signal Decoder
  • Gadget 1: Flash Drone
  • Gadget 2: Data Knife
  • Trait: Silent Step

Hackclaw is a Recon Operator in Delta Force, making her ideal for gathering intel. Mai's Signal Decoder periodically scans for up to three enemy electronic signals and displays their tracking paths. The closest path is marked in red, indicating your enemy is just around the corner.

Flash Drone moves forward and acts like a flashbang within a specific range, while her second gadget, Data Knife, hacks nearby electronic devices on impact and disables them. If the knife hits an enemy instead of any electronics, they'll take damage.

Silent Step makes Hackclaw move around while crouched a bit faster, producing less noise than normal so you can avoid vigilant foes.

Luna (Luna Kim)

Luna delta force hawk ops
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Class: Recon
  • Tactical Gear: Detection Arrow
  • Gadget 1: Volt Arrow
  • Gadget 2: Enhanced Frag Grenade
  • Trait: Enemy Analysis

Luna is another Recon Operator but functions a little differently than Hackclaw. If you have to draw a comparison, her abilities can be compared to Sova from Valorant.

Detection Arrow exposes enemy positions and leaves micro-sensors along its trajectory to detect moving targets.

Volt Arrow generates electric currents that deal damage over time, while Enhanced Frag Grenades deal damage to ballistic vests and exposed limbs.

Enemy Analysis marks enemies briefly as Luna deals damage to them.

Shepherd (Terry Musa)

Shepherd delta force hawk ops

  • Class: Engineer
  • Tactical Gear: Sonic Paralysis
  • Gadget 1: Sonic Trap
  • Gadget 2: Enhanced Frag Grenade
  • Trait: Sonic Defense

Shepherd is an Engineer Operator in Delta Force, making him helpful by offering repairs with his welding gun. It's capable of cutting and repairing with a welding gun.

Sonic Paralysis deploys a drone that suppresses enemies and reduces their fire rates using acoustic pressure. It can also destroy enemy sonic devices that resonate with it and can interfere with recon devices.

Sonic Traps stick to hard surfaces and, after they're triggered, damage and slow down enemies within range. Enhanced Frag Grenade damages ballistic vests and exposed limbs.

Sonic Defense is a hand device that generates anti-phase sound waves to reduce damage from blast waves.

Stinger (Roy Smee)

  • Class: Support
  • Tactical Gear: Hive-Tech Pistol
  • Gadget 1: Smokescreen
  • Gadget 2: Hive-Tech Smoke Grenade
  • Trait: Expertly Rescue

Stinger is a Support Operator, which means it can revive allies faster and can heal them.

Hive-Tech Pistol fires homing bullets that slowly heal friendlies. You can also press and hold it to use for yourself.

Smokescreen launches a gesture-controlled UAV that flies forward and emits smoke. Hive-Tech Smoke Grenade tosses a smoke grenade that, when hit by the Hive-Tech Pistol, provides healing.

Expertly Rescue revives downed allies faster and recovers more HP with the Hive-Tech Pistol. It also removes the debuff of reduced max HP in the Operations game mode.

Uluru (David Feller)

Uluru delta force hawk ops

  • Class: Engineer
  • Tactical Gear: Loitering Munition
  • Gadget 1: Quickset Cover
  • Gadget 2: Composite Incendiary
  • Trait: Battle Hardened

Uluru is another Engineer after Shepherd.

Loitering Munition fires an image-guided missile that splits into four bombs on impact.

Quickset Cover tosses a quick-setting concrete sprayer that creates a cover that can block damage. Composite Incendiary acts like a Molotov that detonates upon landing and quickly burns through Quickset Cover.

Battle Hardened improves resistance to slowing effects from fractures and class gear like Shepherd's Sonic Trap.

Vyron (Wang Yuhao)

Vyron delta force hawk ops
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Class: Assault
  • Tactical Gear: QLL32 Crouching Tiger
  • Gadget 1: Dynamic Propulsion
  • Gadget 2: Magnetic Bomb
  • Trait: Dynamic Auxiliary System

Vyron is the second Assault Operator after D-Wolf. QLL32 Crouching Tiger fires a compressed air round that, on impact, knocks down nearby enemies.

Dynamic Propulsion activates the Dynamic Auxiliary Device that boosts movement in a designated direction. If you knock down an enemy, its cooldown reduces. Magnetic Bomb is a high-explosive gadget that sticks to hard surfaces and detonates after a countdown.

Dynamic Auxiliary System briefly increases the system power while using a gadget or falling from a height. It also reduces fall damage (ideal for StoneMountain64) and boosts movement speed.

That's all for Delta Force operators. As the game launches with more seasons down the line, we might get to see more Operators joining the roster.

Sineva (Alexei Petrov)

  • Class: Engineer
  • Tactical Gear: EOD Set
  • Gadget 1: Grapple Gun
  • Gadget 2: Razor Wire Grenade
  • Trait: Rear Guard

Sineva belongs to the Engineer class, and his EOD Set equips a full-body shield to significantly reduce damage received. The Blast Shield, when damaged, can knock down enemies.

The Grapple Gun fires a grappling hook that, when hit, can pull back enemies, downed allies, and gear crates. The Razor Wire Grenade deploys a razor wire on impact. All enemies moving within this wire will be slowed down, make noise, and be damaged.

Rear Guard makes the Blast Shield hang behind Sineva's back when it's not in use, blocking bullets from behind.

  • Class: Support
  • Tactical Gear: "Dragonfly" Swarm System
  • Gadget 1: Adreno-Boost
  • Gadget 2: Blinding Gas
  • Trait: Swift Healing

Belonging to the Support class, Toxik's "Dragonfly" Swarm System releases a bunch of UAVs that can give a temporary adrenaline boose to all allies along its path. Enemies, on the other hand, will face distortion in hearing and vision, while getting their max HP reduced slightly.

Adreno Boost deploys drones to buff nearby allies. This will increase their Handling and reduce Hit Flinch. Every kill made by an ally after the buff will boost the next one.

Blinding Gas throws a gas grenade that will blind enemies falling in its range. Swift Healing will reduce the time taken to use consumables for nearby squadmates in the Operations mode, while reducing the time taken for injured mates to start recovering in Warfare mode.

  • Class: Assault
  • Tactical Gear: Silent Assault
  • Gadget 1: Whirlwind Disc
  • Gadget 2: Tactical Flashbang
  • Trait: Deep Trauma

Introduced during the Season Eclipse Vigil, Nox belongs to the Assault class in Delta Force.

His Silent Assault activates jammers and disrupts near enemies. In Operations, it also reduces sound range, enhances mobility, and enemy recon gadgets can only detect his initial location. In Warfare mode, Nox is undetectable.

Whirlwind Disc locks onto enemies and tracks them automatically, exploding on proximity with a shrapnel burst that deals damage, slows movement, and inflicts bleed.

Tactical Flashbang detonates briefly after impact with surfaces, blinding, and stunning nearby enemies. Deep Trauma makes enemies take longer to heal and get revived in Operations. While in Warfare, it delays their health regeneration.

oricorio rare card tcg pocket

I cannot understand how overpowered and broken this deck is, mainly because many Pokémon TCG Pocket players are not considering it in ranked currently. I have gone from unranked to Ultra Rank in a day on a 15-game winning streak and had the odd loss here and there.

It's incredible how effective one lone card can be. Still, with the Electric-type Oricorio deck, I have managed to create a consistent deck that pulls into cards that I need nearly all the time, and has cards that can draw and reset my hand at a moment's notice. There is so much variety that I want to pass this deck list onto trainers who also want to use this powerful bird.

So let's begin, shall we?

Best Pom Pom Oricorio Pokémon TCG Pocket deck

Image via Pokémon Company

Card Amount Set
Pikachu ex 2 Genetic Apex (Pikachu)
Pachirisu ex 2 Space-Time Smackdown (Dialga)
Oricorio (Pom-Pom) 2 Celestial Guardians (Solgaleo)
X Speed 1 Promo-A
Sabrina 2 Genetic Apex (Charizard)
Giant's Cape 2 Mythical Island
Cyrus 1 Space-Time Smackdown (Palkia)
Red 1 Shining Revelry
Professor's Research 2 Promo-A
Poké Ball 2 Promo-A, Shining Revelry
Rocky Helmet 1 Space-Time Smackdown (Palkia)
Iono 1 Shining Revelry
Mars 1 Space-Time Smackdown (Palkia)

So with this deck, I have taken a core Pikachu ex and Pachirisu ex deck and added Oricorio into it instead of Zapdos ex or another Pokémon you would usually see. I was skeptical using it at first, but the more I've played and fine-tuned it, the more broken I'm convinced it is.

You have a lot of draw power, and even if you start slow or stack up cards in your hand, an Iono can reset everything and likely give you the cards you need. Not to mention cards like Mars are great for getting rid of an opponent's hand quickly, and Red is great for those final hits on opposing ex Pokémon.

Pikachu ex hasn't been meta for a while, but Pom-Pomn Oricorio fits into the deck too well. I can't tell you how many games I have played where the opponent only has ex Pokémon, and all I do is slap down a single Oricori, and there is nothing they can do about it. I choose not to have a backline at all other than the other Oricorio in those situations and Zzzap their health away a turn at a time until they either rage quit or concede.

The card is forcing players to adapt and have something in their decks to deal with it. No longer do we have decks that are all ex-cards with no consequence. This pesky little bird is helping me climb up the ladder faster than ever before, and I hope by sharing this deck list, you will too.

I have seen other variants of the deck like Magneton and Zapdos, but I find the wealth of options in this deck, with Pikachu and Pachirisu ex being a great damage dealer, gives you a lot of options to contest with most decks you come across. It's also so easy to swap Pokémon out as they all have low retreat costs, letting you match your opponent's moves with ease.

The only times I have lost are when drawing cards isn't on my side, or the opponent's team is stacked with Rocky Helmets that kill the bird before it can kill their high health ex Pokémon. I have been debating putting a Guzma in to counteract this, but the Giant's Cape is a good alternative to having that 20 extra health for one final attack.

Let me know in the comments what your own deck list is like, and if you are also having fun trolling ranked players with the devil bird!

Sometimes, games defy the tendency to put them into a reviewable rubric. How do I compare an ostensible action-RPG (kinda) where you dismember yourself to satisfy angry trees and advance the story with, say, a Diablo game? I previewed Moroi, and the full game didn't exactly make things any clearer than the preview. So let […]
