Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, May 3, 2025 5:52 PM ![]() Do you ever think to yourself, "gee, I wish that LA Noire actually looked like a noir film and also everyone is a furry"? Then boy howdy do I have the game for you: The Shadow Syndicate. It just got announced yesterday at the Gamescom Latam showcase, and I should say it's not exactly like LA Noire in that you don't have to try and read the faces of motion capture actors overperforming their hearts out. What it does have is some detective work, gunplay, and even some Max Payneish bullet-time. How can you not be into that mixture? |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, May 3, 2025 4:34 PM ![]() I'm not sure how they have time for it, but as part of a livestream held earlier today, HoYoVerse revealed yet another new game. This one isn't a completely new world, it's actually another Honkai game, though right now it doesn't have a name. A very short teaser was shared for it which literally just called it a "brand new Honkai game", but there were a couple of signs that it was one anyway. Namely, the presence of a couple of characters, Kiana and Blade. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, May 3, 2025 1:39 PM ![]() Well, this is all a bit awkward. Yesterday, you might have seen claims that Chrono Trigger writer Yuji Horii accidentally confirmed that a remake of the beloved JRPG is in the works. It all read a bit suspicious right off the bat, because it initially just came from a Reddit post from someone who attended a panel Horii was speaking at during Napoli Comicon without any video evidence. Then some other posts started cropping up, alongside commenters saying they were also there and that this was true. Except, it isn't true, because it was all a translation miscommunication. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, May 3, 2025 1:03 PM ![]() We're not too far off Elden Ring Nightreign now, with the spinoff game due out right at the end of the month. Some of you might have even played some of it already, unlike James, who struggled to play any of it at all when the test was held back in February. Considering how few of us have actually spent any time on it overall though, quite conveniently FromSoftware and Bandai Namco shared a little overview trailer yesterday that dove into what you'll be doing in the Fortniteish Souls game. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Saturday, May 3, 2025 12:08 PM ![]() It seems like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is doing quite alright for itself, 'ey? The J'RPG was awarded Rock Paper Shotgun's coveted Bestest Bests badge by our own Nic in his review, and by all accounts it's been received well by most everyone else too. Not that sales matter much in terms of a game's quality, but the fact that it's done well there as well at minimum means the lights are staying on at Sandfall Interactive. In fact it seems things are going better than just keeping the lights on, as it sounds like the developer is considering more of it, whatever that might be. |

Despite the critical success of Too Kyo's newest game, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, the company remains in debt. The company's tough financial situation has affected the decision to provide a localization for languages other than English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Kazutaka Kodaka, one of the creators of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy and a founder of Too Kyo Games, talked about the company's situation on his Bluesky account. He stated he would love to start working on multilingual support for the game if he can pay off his debts early. However, the company is still on the brink of going under. Kodaka also reiterated that Too Kyo has no plans to release the game for platforms other than the PC or the Switch.
Too Kyo Games has stated many times in the past that the company's continued existence hinges on this ambitious visual novel. The company went into debt to develop The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. Regarding this, Kodaka said in 2024, "If the game doesn't sell, you can't pay off your debt. In that sense, this is a rare opportunity for players. You get to witness how the sales of a single title can affect the future of a company and its creators."
That being said, Kodaka stated again on his Bluesky account that thinking about the company's financial woes may make it hard for players to focus on the game. So he will stop talking about it, and hopes that players can enjoy The Hundred Line without any worries.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is readily available on the Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. You can read our review of it here.

In many cases, slice of life anime and manga series are as much about setting the stage and building up our notion of what life would be like in a place as they are about the actual characters. It happened with Aria, for example. The same happens in Wash It All Away, the Mitsuru Hattori manga Square Enix picked up. By the time the first volume is finished, we not only get a sense of who heroine Wakana Kinme is, but also the town of Atami and its residents too.
Editor's Note: There will be some minor spoilers for the first volume of the Wash It All Away manga below.
Hattori sets up the manga Wash It All Away both as a slice-of-life series and mystery from the very start. Wakana Kinme runes Kinme Cleaning, a wet laundry service that is quaint, takes on smaller and specialized orders, and offers the sorts of personal touches like pick-up and delivery and preservation. However, while she's incredibly experienced and acquired the necessary requisites to offer those services, she doesn't remember who she is. She doesn't remember anything past the last two years. However, that doesn't stop her from getting absorbed in things she loves (laundry and hot springs) and connecting with people around her. As a result, we also get a chance to see what the community is like as well.
![]()
Because of Wakana's openness and range, we get to peek in at the lives at quite a few different people. While her first two customers in the series are two elderly ladies, Asami Yagara is a fashionable younger woman about the same age as her who brought in her husband's suits. There's also a sense of friendship there, as she brought a souvenir with for Wakana. High schooler Kyu Ishimochi and his mom Koshimi bring not only their own laundry, but that from their small inn. Nairo and her mother are clearly travelers and seem to not be from around Atami, with the grade schooler Nairo initially being hesitant about going into Kinme, but she quickly becomes fascinated by Wakana's processes and as enthusiastic about it as the young woman. So we're seeing people of different ages and from different groups and getting peeks at what their lives are like in Atami as well.
The background art is also quite helpful in setting the stage and helping us understand Atami. As Wakana runs around town performing deliveries, Hattori shares a lot of art that sets the scene. We know exactly what the town looks like, as well as get some glimpses of the sea and shore. An impression of it being bustling is given, seeing as how groups will talk to her as she exercises and she's giving folks from out of town directions in another shot. In one of the earliest sections, as she's heading back to Kinme Cleaning, fireworks are going on in the background, highlighting the sorts of festivals happening during warmer seasons. It's immersive, in its own way.
I also love the balance between showcasing Atami as a place where people generally live and as a possible tourist hotspot. We see how popular Nairo's grandmother's store, which sells local specialties and fish to tourists, is. However, it retains its personality and history, as evidenced by Wakana's task there being to clean and help preserve Nairo's grandfather's flag. We catch glimpses of how important the Atami Marine Firework Festival is to the town, both via the business it brings to Kyu's family's inn and when Wakana actually watches the show from the roof of Kinme Cleaning. But even with the crowds and scenes that show this is clearly a busy place, people like Wakana still work at their own pace and make time for each other and simple pleasures like hot springs and baths.
As a result, I feel like there are two reasons I'd keep reading the Wash It All Away manga, and finding out the mystery behind Wakana's past and amnesia is only a small part of it. I love the setting. Atami seems like a quaint, peaceful town that, despite being a tourist attraction, retains its sense of community and personality. The people around Wakana, their lives, and the pace of life in this place feels just as important as the star.
Volume 1 of Wash It All Away is available via Square Enix now, and volume 2 of the manga will debut on June 17, 2025.

At the Honkai: Star Rail concert, we learned that the characters that will appear as part of the Fate/Stay Night crossover will be Saber and Archer. The event will start on July 11, 2025. Both will be five-star units, and Archer will be given away as a free login reward. The event also teased a new Honkai game, which could be the teased Honkai: Nexus Anima.
The Archer and Saber crossover characters will show up in Honkai: Star Rail alongside "Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail," the Fate/Stay Night event. This is confimred to actually bring the Holy Grail War to the game, with the Trailblazer and Astral Express members taking part. Kinoko Nasu worked on the story, and Takashi Takeuchi drew the new character designs and art.
As for the units, both will be focused on dealing damage to enemies, albeit in different ways. Archer, the free units we'll all be guaranteed to get in addition to being on a banner, is going to be a Hunt character who deals Quantum-type damage. This means he'll be focused on dealing as much pain to one enemy as possible. Meanwhile, Saber will be a Wind Destruction character. This means she'll likely deal damage in the same way that Blade, Firefly, and Jingliu do. She will have options of hitting one foe, but there will also be opportunities for AOE hits depending on the ability used. We'll only be able to get Saber from the banner, though she will appear as an NPC in the event story.
Here's how both will look:

While the whole concert is delisted, there are two single videos available. One is the "Hope Is the Thing With Feathers," which you can watch below:
And here's "No Dazzle, No Break."
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Fate/Stay Night crossover event begins July 11, 2025.

BitLife's DILK challenge is a little more chaotic than usual. For this challenge, you'll create a female doctor who has several children, gets to know a few new people, and even eliminates her own father. It's a lot to tackle, but we have the strategies you need for this challenge.
Table of contents
BitLife DILK challenge guide
BitLife's DILK challenge has five tasks to complete:
You won't need any expansions or special career packs for this challenge. However, the Assassin's Blade, Golden Pacifier, and Time Machine can help, especially if you're struggling with the fifth task. Aside from these optional items, you mainly need luck for this challenge.
Be born a female
The first task of BitLife's DILK challenge is to create a female character. You're free to choose any country, name, and special talent for your character. As long as she's born a female, you're good to go. If you want to make things easier later, you can recreate your character until she has high Smarts stats, but this is completely optional.
The only thing you need to check is whether your character has a father. More importantly, he needs to survive until your character reaches adulthood so you can complete this challenge's fifth task. There are several ways to go about these tasks, but for now, you just need to focus on having a father who survives at least 14 years after you're born.
Work as a doctor or surgeon
Now that a quick warning is out of the way, it's time for some schooling. Once you graduate from secondary school, apply for university and choose programs like Chemistry or Biology. After studying for four years, enroll in Medical School and complete its program to become eligible to become a doctor. Alternatively, you can use BitLife's Golden Diploma to speed up the process.
![]()
Once you have a medical degree, enter the full-time job list and apply for a physician or surgeon role. It doesn't matter which you pick, as long as they fall within these two categories. Apply for the position and pass the interview to become a doctor. Now, you just need to work hard and keep the job for 15 years.
Hook up with fathers
This one can be a little tricky if you're unfamiliar with BitLife's hook-up mechanics. To hook up with someone, head into Activities, Love, and Hook Up before saying yes or no to whoever your character finds.
![]()
However, you won't know whether someone is a father until after the deed is done. You can find out by heading into Relationship, Exes, and selecting one of the NPCs your character previously interacted with. You'll find information including marital status, age, and whether they have any kids. Your best bet is to accept any offer until you engage with at least five fathers to knock out the challenge.
Have children with your character's flings
Earlier, we learned how your BitLife character can hook up with NPCs and determine whether they're fathers. Along the way, you can choose whether to use protection, helping to prevent pregnancy or any diseases from unexpectedly appearing. However, you'll want to say no to this offer three times so your character ends up pregnant, letting you have children with some flings.
There's a chance you'll also catch diseases while doing this. You can reduce the odds by avoiding this with someone who "looks like they have craziness down there," but even then, it can still happen. You can either close and reopen the BitLife app before confirming the disease pop-up or visit a doctor and hope it's something you can cure. As long as you have at least three children, everything else is a side story you can tackle however you wish.
Eliminating your character's father
Your last task of BitLife's DILK challenge is to commit patricide. You'll unlock this option once your character turns 14, which you can initiate by heading into Activities, Crime, and Murder. From here, you'll pick your character's father as the victim and an inconspicuous option, like drive-by or poison, as the method to reduce the odds of being caught.
There are several obstacles you can encounter while completing this task. If your father passes from natural causes before you get the chance to do this, you'll have to try again or attempt this sooner. The police can also catch you, preventing you from becoming a doctor. If this happens, you can emigrate to another country and try again, or close and reopen the BitLife app before confirming the failed attempt to try again. You can also use the Assassin's Blade for a guaranteed elimination, but it costs real money.
Once you work as a doctor or surgeon for 15 years, have a few children, and succeed with your elimination attempt, you'll complete BitLife's DILK challenge, open a special prize box, and receive a cosmetic reward to use in future playthroughs.

After reaching the rank of Gladiator in the Arena on Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered, your first match will put you against a group of three Argonian prisoners, who, although not as mighty as some of your previous opponents, are more than capable of overwhelming you in a flash.
But don't worry, as it is possible to make their numbers completely redundant by using a very specific strategy. Here's how to easily beat the three Argonian prisoners in Oblivion Remastered, no matter your difficulty of choice.
Table of contents
How to easily beat the three Argonian prisoners in Oblivion Remastered
As facing them head-on puts you at a serious disadvantage (especially when on higher difficulties), the best way to deal with the Argonian prisoners in Oblivion Remastered is to use ranged attacks to take them out from a safe spot. To do that, jump on any of the arena's brazier platforms at the moment the match starts, before making another jump toward the spikes above it. You must land atop a spike here, so get the angle of your second jump right.
![]()
As you can see above, successfully landing on a spike will allow you to then rain arrows and spells on the prisoners while remaining completely safe and outside of their range. Just make sure not to move too much while attacking. If you cannot reach the spikes no matter what, try facing the prisoners after raising your Acrobatics level (and thus your maximum jumping height).
How to raise Acrobatics fast in Oblivion Remastered
![]()
In a similar way to how you can increase your Sneak skill, the best and easiest way to raise Acrobatics in Oblivion Remastered can be done by simply bunny hopping while exploring the world, as each jump offers a fixed amount of EXP. Apart from boosting your already mentioned jump height and resistance to fall damage, raising the skill will also reward you with the following:
Now that you know how to defeat the prisoners and get your ticket to another Gladiator rank battle, I highly recommend taking a look at the best way to farm money in Oblivion Remastered. After all, who can say no to an easy path to a fortune?
