Right, sorry parents that proudly put their kids' borderline impressionist drawings on the fridge, there's a new bare minimum you have to meet. If you're not turning your child's drawings into full on video games, then I'm sorry to say you're not doing a good enough job. This doesn't apply to Artur Latkovsky, though, who is quite literally doing that with his game Odd Dorable (I'm sure I don't need to explain the name to you), a game where every single bit of art in the game was made by his four-year-old daughter.

Horror asymmetric multiplayer game Dead by Daylight is celebrating its ninth anniversary later this year, an amount of time so large it really makes you think "man, most live service devs should have had the foresight to make their game a decade ago, huh?" With that anniversary approaching imminently, developer Behaviour Interactive held a year nine anniversary broadcast where there was one reveal that'll have you going "yeah that makes sense" and another where you'll say "ok, sure."

Risk of Rain 2 is still trudging along, it seems, as yesterday publisher Gearbox announced that a new expansion is on the way, Alloyed Collective. In a post over on Steam, the Risk of Rain team explained that alongside updating the game's previous bit of DLC, Seekers of the Storm, they've brought on some "additional folks that are familiar with Risk of Rain to help us build out the next DLC." Alloyed Collective is apparently still a while away from being ready, but it sounds pretty jam packed.

Wizards of the Coast also shared images of tons of cards in the set following the presentation, which you can see in the gallery below:

And here's a closer look at each one of them in the PAX East 2025 showcase with Ben Starr:

Dune: Awakening game cover

Despite the delay, the Dune: Awakening Beta has stirred up serious buzz as it opens to eager players. While getting in might be tough if you choose not to pre-order the MMO, a few tactics can boost your odds.

Whether you're a devoted fan or an MMO enthusiast, here's how to improve your chances of early access.

How to get into Dune: Awakening Beta

The most surefire way of getting access to the Dune: Awakening beta is to pre-order the game. This method wasn't an original means of gaining access to the beta when it first launched, but on May 9, developer Funcom announced how it would be opening up access to anyone who pre-ordered the MMO.

If you're not looking to pre-order the game, though, you can access the Dune: Awakening beta through three other methods. Instead of relying on just one, it's best to try all three, as doing so will significantly increase your chances. Let's break down each method:

The first two steps are straightforward, offering Beta sign-ups right out of the gate. While they're easy to complete, they don't guarantee a code. That's where the Twitch stream might give you an edge. According to the official Beta page, "tens of thousands" of codes will be up for grabs during the stream, but the window could be short. Timing is everything, so be sure to stay alert and ready when it drops.

No matter which step you've taken, make sure to check your email daily. Be on the lookout for Steam notifications—you don't want to miss out when that code hits your inbox.

When does the Dune: Awakening Beta Twitch stream start?

The Dune: Awakening Global LAN Party Broadcast begins on May 10 at 12pm PT/ 3pm ET/ 8pm BST/ 9pm CET. Tune into the Funcom Twitch channel to watch two houses battle it out and possibly gain access to the Beta.

https://twitter.com/DuneAwakening/status/1920539390440583515

Team Harkonnen and Team Atreides will take center stage for this stream, where we will likely see some PvP action. There's no telling how long the broadcast will last, but it will hopefully go on for a few hours to give viewers more chances for the Beta.

What's included in the Dune: Awakening Beta?

Dune: Awakening's Beta Weekend includes the following content:

  • The first 20-25 hours of gameplay
  • CHOAM Building Set
  • Hagga Basin South Region
  • Eastern and Western Vermillius Gap Region
  • Parts of the Act 1 storyline
  • Construct and drive a Sandbike
  • Early and mid-game combat

Even though it's just a Beta Weekend, this limited-time access offers a lot, with up to 25 hours of gameplay. If you're fortunate enough to gain access, you'll join a server accommodating up to 40 players. During this Beta Weekend, the focus will be on PvE, where you can collaborate to survive or build sandy empires together. However, if you're in the mood for some competition, there will be areas specifically for PvP combat.

Those interested in the story can play through most of Act 1 with their customized character, though naturally, it won't include as much content as the full launch. Progress made during the Beta Weekend won't carry over, so you'll have to start fresh when the game officially releases. This weekend is mainly about getting a feel for the gameplay and preparing for what's ahead.

When does the Dune: Awakening Beta end?

The Beta Weekend wraps up on May 12 at 2:59pm PT / 5:59pm ET / 10:59pm BST / 11:59pm CEST. Once it ends, all eyes are on the full launch. There will be many more regions to explore, along with iconic vehicles like Ornithopters and Buggies. You'll also be able to meet up with other Dune: Awakening players in the new social hub, allowing you to trade items across servers using the Exchange. So, get ready for its full release, and dig into the Beta while you can. The sandworms are waiting for you beneath the surface.

Dune: Awakening game cover

Upcoming MMO Dune Awakening is now available in an open beta, and players have been enjoying the gameplay ahead of its official launch.

Games like this depend heavily on how well the servers are performing. Being an MMO, you can only play Dune Awakening if the servers are functional. The servers can go down both expectedly and accidentally, and the latter can be really troublesome. It's important to know the functional status of the servers before you join a session with your friends.

Dune Awakening server status

As of May 10, the servers for the game are working as expected. While the final release happens in June, players can enjoy plenty of gameplay during the beta weekend. If you're yet to get an access code, check out your guide. Having an access code is necessary if you plan to join the beta.

If you already have a code, you should be free to play the beta weekend as long as it's active. All the available servers are operational as of writing. Of course, it's a beta test, and disruptions can occasionally occur. It's best to wait patiently in case you can't log in.

Funcom has also been releasing periodic batches of fresh code for players. As the player count goes up, there can be random incidents of server outages if too many players are playing at the same time. In such cases, the servers will become non-operational, and the only option will be to wait.

Follow the official X account of the game, as any instances of routine maintenance are likely to be posted there. Chances are, there will be more servers prior to the full launch of the game. However, routine maintenance is part of any MMO, and Dune Awakening won't be any different. Once we have planned maintenance times available, we will update this guide accordingly.
