The Nintendo Switch 2 is launching in a few weeks in the United States. It will cost $450, a price some think is too high.      Helldivers 2 dev says it will call "100%" of the shots on its next game

With Helldivers 2 still going strong, despite having to navigate some difficult moments since its launch last year, the top dog at developer Arrowhead has revealed that it is now exploring some "cool concepts" for its next game, which will also be "100%" funded by the Swedish studio. This confirms that Arrowhead won't be continuing its partnership with Sony and Playstation for its next project, even though "there would be no Helldivers if it wasn't for them."

GTA 6 will arrive "with no limitations" thanks to its latest delay

While the news of another GTA 6 delay was a tough pill to swallow, Rockstar has at least now committed to something more concrete. Its previous 'late 2025' window is now a specific date that players can circle in their calendars, and Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has just given his most confident statement yet that there will be no more pushbacks. He also explains why the decision was made to delay GTA 6 again, saying that it will allow Rockstar to release the game "with no limitations."

Stellar Blade PC port blocked on Steam in over 100 countries, surprising its dev

Pre-orders have just gone live for the long-awaited Stellar Blade PC port, which brings Eve (and her ever-growing wardrobe) to Steam and the Epic Games Store more than a year after its debut on PS5. However, players in some countries are finding themselves unable to lock in their pre-order, with Stellar Blade blocked in dozens of countries, seemingly due to the same issue that caused mass review bombing for Helldivers 2 last year - the requirement for a Playstation Network account. The really wild part is that the game's developer appears to have been blindsided by this and is surprised to see the game being region-locked.

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios are cooking. I'm not exactly sure what just yet, but there's a faint aroma of a new game in the air, and it doesn't seem like they're ready to share anything about the game right now either. Still, after the runaway success of Helldivers 2, something new from the studio is still an exciting prospect. Interestingly enough though, whatever they're making, it won't have anything to do with PlayStation when it comes to funding.

That Hideo Kojima is a bit of an odd chap, 'ey? It was only recently he said that he wants to make a game where the protagonist forgets their own abilities if you, the player, take a long break between play sessions. As a reminder this comes from the guy who made a whole game about delivering packages, another game where a character can die of old age if you wait long enough, and another game that knows if you've played Castlevania or not. The guy likes doing things differently!

This applies to both physical arcades and Namco Online Crane games. VShojo Co-Founder Leaves VTuber Company

Phillip "MowtenDoo" Fortunat, chief marketing officer at VShojo and one of its co-founder, announced he would leave the company. He started the organization alongside CEO Justin "Gunrun" Ignacio and COO Daniel "Apek" Sanders in November 2020. In the official notice, he stated the reason involved an opportunity to "explore new creative endeavors."

In the announcement, Fortunat noted this is a voluntary decision. He also noted he was proud of the work with the company and working alongside individuals. He also called this a chance "to embark on a new chapter of creative fulfillment." The statement also closed with the phrase, "See you soon." This could suggest that, while MowtenDoo is leaving VShojo, he could remain in the streaming or gaming industry.

Here's the full statement:

https://twitter.com/MowtenDoo/status/1922698604000457162

While fellow VShojo co-founder Ignacio retweeted the statement from Phillip Fortunat, he did not comment online.

This is the second VShojo departure in May 2025, as Vtuber Matara Kan left on May 5, 2025. She is still streaming and performing under that identity. Even so, she's still collaborated with people from the company since then. On May 10, 2025, she played World of Warcraftwith VShojo's Geega, Henya, and Zentraya.

VShojo will celebrate its fifth anniversary on November 24, 2025.

Aerith Gets a Bamboo Sword in FFVII Ever Crisis Academy Seven

The latest FFVII Ever Crisis banner for the Ever Crisis Academy event that turns characters into high school students and teachers is live, and it involves Aerith getting a Bamboo Sword weapon and Seventh High Team Cetra Uniform gear costume. Both are five-star pieces of equipment. It is now live in-game until May 28, 2025, and once again the Glenn Ogrekiller Ultimate Weapon remains the other focus option on it.

The Seventh High Team Cetra Uniform costume for Aerith not only gives her a customized school uniform with long skirt, but involves her dying the ends of her brown hair pink, getting a flower tattoo on her chest, and wearing a black mask with white fang pattern design for her face. Its R Abilities are Boost HP, which boosts her health, and Team Leader's Mask that increases Water Ability Damage by 30% and boosts her Magic Ability Damage by 20% if her Attack Stance Command Gauge is maxed out.

With the Team Leader's Bamboo Sword, it gives Aerith the Water Orb Blast C Ability in FFVII Ever Crisis. That deals 330% Mag Water Damage to all enemies and, if her health is over 50%, increases Water Damage dealt.

Here's the official image Square Enix shared with us showing the weapon and costume:

As a reminder, Aerith is also a boss in the FFVII Ever Crisis Academy Seven event. We fight both her and Barret "Mr. B" Wallace during that storyline.

While the Aerith, Barret, and Tifa weapons are locked behind banners, some from this event can be earned. These are ones for Glenn and Sephiroth.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the FFVII Ever Crisis Academy Seven high school AU event and banners will run until May 28, 2025.

Tribe Nine Game Will Shut Down After 8 Months

Akatsuki announced that the Tribe Nine game, which it launched on February 18, 2025, will shut down on November 27, 2025. This means we got about eight months to play. It is no longer selling paid Daily Passes and Enigma Entities, and it will issue refunds for Paid Engima Entitis for Support Contract - Revenio, Advanced Support, and Armed Support will happen after that Support Contract ends in-game. The developer and publisher also noted it will share a final schedule eventually on the game's official site.

The end of service notice did offer some details about the future of Tribe Nine over the next six months. While the gacha rates did improve since launch, there will be no other fixes or updates. None of the promised additions, features, or changes will appear. This means Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba won't be playable. The story will remain unfinished and will end at chapter three, as the fourth won't be released.

Kazutaka Kodaka also commented on Tribe Nine being shut down, as he and TooKyo Games was involved in the project's creation and he helped with its early development. He clarified that he worked on worldbuilding and apologized for how things turned out.

Doom the Dark Ages picture of Chapter Two's toy

As you head into Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter Two, Hebeth, you'll notice much has changed from the previous level. We now have gold to spend, a Shield Saw to throw around, and more secrets to find. There are over nine secret locations, with plenty of other resources to gather.

All Chapter 2 secret and collectible locations in Doom: The Dark Ages

Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter Two has nine secret areas, three collectibles, and 210 gold to find. Here's a list of every location and its respective collectibles, including how to find all 210 gold:

Secret one

Shortly after equipping the Shield Saw and using it to mow down some shielded enemies, you'll enter a Weapons Facility with several branching paths. Down one path, you'll spot a Life Sigil blocked by glass, which you can access by breaking the purple circle door directly south of this spot and following the path until you reach the Sigil.

Secret two

Immediately after collecting the first secret, head toward the quest marker to enter a room with a staircase. Heading up the stairs and turning left will reveal an exit leading to your quest marker. However, rather than going this way, turn around to spot two metal crates leading to a secret vent passageway. Jumping down here will lead you directly to the Imp Stalker Toy, knocking out your first collectible for this chapter.

Codex Page

Although we're ready to continue the main quest, you won't go far before finding your second collectible. Head along the path, pull down the door's lever, and run forward until you reach a ledge to jump down. Go down here and stomp the demons that cross your path before entering a small room. You'll spot a door blocked by superheated metal on your right, while your left has several boxes to jump over.

Jumping over these boxes reveals a Hebeth Codex page you can collect, marking your second collectible of this run. The game doesn't count this as a secret, but it is missable if you beeline it through the mission. You're now ready to head the opposite way, break the superheated metal door, and make some money.

Secret three

After finding the Codex page, you'll learn how to find gold and use the Sentinel Shrine to upgrade your gear. Following this tutorial, a green door will open nearby, letting you progress into a room with a few splitting paths. Go opposite the quest marker before turning right toward a red portal barrier.

Above this barrier is a wall you can climb, leading you directly to five gold and your third secret of this chapter. A demon's also waiting for you here, so be ready for some quick combat.

Secret four

It won't take long to find your next secret. Heading toward the quest marker, run through the corridors until you find a large stone statue. Turn right, left, and right away to spot a purple circle door to smash through with your shield. Doing this will propel you into your fourth secret area, with five gold bars available as your reward.

Secret five

Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter Two's fifth secret isn't available until after you unlock the Accelerator. After acquiring this weapon, head through the doors to find a horned helmet and two paths going left and right. Although hordes of enemies will naturally make you steer right, your destination is on your left instead.

Heading left, you'll find a metal grate with a circle you can break through using your shield. Doing this reveals five gold and a Life Sigil for you to claim. You're now safe to progress through the main story until you reach your first Point of No Return.

Secret six

The next few are slightly tricky to spot. As you enter the Point of No Return, run along the path past the fire door until you reach the top of a staircase. Turn immediately left here to climb up the ledge, letting you collect five gold and break some superheated metal to access a valve. This valve will let you disable the fire door and enter it to claim nine gold and a Life Sigil.

Secret seven

Further down the main story's path, you'll see two titans fighting in the background, a demon horde bombarding you, and a side room leading back into the facility. Walking inside rewards you with eight gold, marking off your seventh secret. Now, you only have two more to find.

Secret eight

Finding Chapter Two's eighth secret requires entering another Point of No Return by jumping down a pit. Following this path will teach you Shield Recall, letting you leap across a massive void using your shield and access the rest of the level's secrets.

Once you use Shield Recall to jump across the gap, run straight forward to access a tunnel, letting you access a chest containing 50 gold. Punch it to claim your prize, letting you move on to the final secret.

Secret nine

After collecting secret eight's gold, follow the main quest's path until it diverges. Rather than going through the main story marker, head forward and climb up the three nearby crates to access a climb point. Follow the path from here to collect eight gold and a Shredder Weapon Skin, wrapping up Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter Two's secrets.

All Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter 2 gold

Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter Two is also the first time you're introduced to gold, a currency that lets you upgrade your gear from this level onward. Here's where you can find all 210 gold:

As you progress through the main story, you'll find a quest task asking you to collect 75 gold from the surrounding area. The room's center chest holds 50, while the corridors around this room, marked on your map, have the remaining 25. You can't progress past this point without collecting this gold, making it unmissable.

Your next chance to find gold is while exploring the map and discovering secrets three and four. Each location holds five gold, bringing your total up to 85. Progressing through the main story's path will eventually take you to a cultist's room and a blue keycard with enough gold bars to raise your total to 101.

With the blue keycard on hand, you'll have access to a new part of the facility, including more gold locations. Secret five is your next destination, holding five gold and a Life Sigil. Shortly after collecting these and following the main quest objective's map marker, you'll enter a vent with a machine shooting a projectile you can parry, revealing eight additional gold.

Following the main story quest marker from here will bring you full circle to the red portal area from Secret Three, which is now unlocked for you to collect 16 gold and increase your total to 130.

Doom the Dark Ages gold inside a keycard room in chapter 2

After some time, you'll hit a Point of No Return as you search for the level's fifth secret. As you follow the path to this secret, you'll gather five gold before breaking some superheated metal, followed by nine gold behind the fire door, bumping up your total to 144.

The next three secrets are where the rest of your money is. Secret seven is just along the main story's path inside a small room, while secret eight has a golden chest containing 50 gold. Last but certainly not least, you have secret nine, holding eight gold and a weapon skin. Entering these three secret areas will wrap up the remaining gold you need, bringing you to 210 to spend on weapon upgrades.

How to find Demonic Essence in Doom: The Dark Ages

Your final collectible for this level is Demonic Essence, a permanent buff you receive by killing elite enemies. In this case, it's unmissable, as you'll obtain by defeating the chapter's boss. Eliminating the boss at the end of this level will give you the Demonic Essence for a permanent health boost lasting the rest of your playthrough.

Once you find all 210 gold and nine secrets, you'll be ready to wrap up Chapter Two, Hebeth, and venture into Chapter three. If you didn't quite grab every secret in the previous level, be sure to check out our guide on every Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter One secret location.

Vagary Champion in Doom The Dark Ages

Doom The Dark Ages has a variety of weapons to pick from, and their in-game effectiveness largely depends on your chosen upgrades.

Every weapon has a specific set of upgrades to pick from, but not all of them are equally effective. This guide will help you zero in on the best upgrades available for every weapon in the game. That way, you won't waste your hard-earned Gold, and help every gun deliver its true potential.

Best weapon upgrades in Doom The Dark Ages

Every weapon has a certain best-case use scenario, but regardless, their effectiveness will go up as you get different upgrades.

Accelerator in Doom The Dark Ages
Screenshot by Destructoid

Weapon Upgrade Reason
Combat Shotgun Smelt While the Combat Shotgun has some really cool upgrades, Smelt is an amazing choice. It will make enemies drop more ammo for you to pick up, which is fantastic when you consider how healing works in the game. Tune Up is another good choice, but other weapons fill the role better.
Accelerator Heatblast Heatblast is the closest you can get to a weapon with near-infinite ammo, and the effect is among my favorites.
Chainshot Eldritch Blessing The Chainshot isn't very good in terms of overall effectiveness, but Eldritch Blessing certainly improves its damage potential. Every Hell Surge parry will automatically charge your next shot from the weapon. This is specifically useful against Champions, who have plenty of
Super Shotgun Any The Super Shotgun is one of those rare guns that can improve significantly with all its upgrades. If you love this gun, investing in all its upgrades should be your priority.
Shredder Pincushion The Shredder really lacks sustained damage potential, and that's where the Pincushion update comes in. Your Shredder will gain the power to fire explosive rounds, and they're significantly better than the spikes. The explosions are also great at AoE damage.
Cycler Amplify The Cycler isn't one of my favorites, but Amplify will help you deal more damage to shocked demons.
Pulverizer Flay The focus with Pulverizer is to increase its damage, and a great way to do that is with the help of Flay. Flay will make the Pulverizer shoot more projectiles per shot, along with extended range.
Impaler Chronospike The Impaler is a great weapon as it is, but you'll get more time to dodge incoming attacks from enemies. Any projectiles fired during the slowdown time will deal more damage.
Grenade Launcher Rupture One of the Grenade Launcher's biggest weaknesses is ammo. With Rupture, any direct hit will drop Cluster Grenades if the enemy has been affected by the Shield Saw. It's a bit tricky upgrade to master as you'll also have to use the Shield Saw in combination with the Grenade Launcher, but the upgrade effect is the best one to get.
Rocket Launcher Cooked The Rocket Launcher doesn't have too much ammo. Empowering every shot is going to get the most out of it, and that's what the Cooked upgrade does. You'll have to master the art of Parrying, as doing so will power up your next shot.
Ravager Ignition The Ravager is an incredible weapon, and the Ignition upgrade makes it reach its maximum fire rate faster. Any form of movement penalty that might be applicable while moving is also removed.

How to get upgrades in Doom The Dark Ages?

You'll have to discover specific POIs called Sentinel Shrines and use your Gold to complete upgrades. You can upgrade your weapons, shield, or melee weapons, but it requires you to be selective as the amount of Gold you can earn is finite.
