Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome
A quick scan of this week’s big stories might leave you confused. In the future, phones are either going to be obsolete, or just as important as ever, but thinner and more foldable.

Both could be true, of course; maybe phones will keep getting slimmer and fold-ier until they disappear into a higher dimension, where they will presumably be used by Galaxy-skating super-beings. That’s not what Apple’s Eddy Cue was getting at when he suggested that the iPhone might not even exist in a decade, though. No, he was talking about AI and the impact it might have on life, the universe and everything.

Fascinating though Cue’s comments are, our focus at TechRadar tends to be on the next year or two rather than the next decade, so for now we’re more concerned about things that are more tangible, such as the Samsung Galaxy Edge – which is expected to be revealed on Monday – the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 (slated for July), and Apple’s own rumoured foldable. We’ve got stories about them all below.

Of course AI makes several appearances in today’s Week in Review too (can you ever imagine it not doing so again?), with Gemini gaining new image-editing features (which we put to the test), and Netflix giving its home screen an AI-infused makeover. Not that you need the latter to help you decide what to watch this weekend, though – because as ever we’ve got our own carefully curated suggestions for you.
