Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome
Samsung and Google – specifically its Android OS – dominated the smartphone news this week. On Monday (or the wee small hours of Tuesday if you’re in the UK) we saw the new and super-thin Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, an expensive handset that blends S25 Ultra features with the thinnest chassis of the Galaxy class. I touched it, tried it, and rather liked it.

We also got a preview of what’s coming in Android 16, a platform that will impact countless handsets from a long list of manufacturers, including Samsung. It’s got a new look that, if I’m being honest, makes it a bit more iOS-like.

Apple didn’t release new products, but it still managed to make news, including coming under pressure from President Trump  to start assembling iPhones in the US. We also saw more Apple iFold… er, iPhone Fold rumors, and were presented with the possibility of a very glassy anniversary iPhone.

Perhaps the week’s biggest non-phone news, though, was the release of Sony’s WH-1000XM6 over-ear headphones – they’re the successor to the stellar WH-1000XM5, and are said to have better noise-cancelling, better sound, and a better, more flexible design.

In the AI world, things are zipping along with new releases from ChatGPT that we used to solve classic logic puzzles. We also explored AI’s utility in audible narrations and human recreations.

All in all, it feels like we need to take a deep breath before what’s set to be a monster next week in tech – stick with TechRadar for live coverage of Computex, Google I/O, and news from Microsoft Build.

Rest up, check out our recommendations of what to stream over the weekend, and we’ll see you all for the technopalooza.
