While we still love single-player games, there's also something to be said for the chaotic joy to be had in multiplayer experiences, especially massively multiplayer ones. One of the few downsides to playing with friends and strangers around the world is the instability of online servers. As a survival MMO, Dune Awakening could fall victim to severe server downtime, so if you're struggling to get into Arrakis, that could be why. Here, we've got the latest on maintenance in the crafting game, and the current Dune Awakening server status. Continue reading Is Dune Awakening down? PCGamesN Friday, July 18, 2025 9:44 AM Whether you fancy yourself a Sith Lord, Jedi Master, Bounty Hunter, or covert agent, the Star Wars The Old Republic system requirements will prove no challenge to modern gaming rigs. So long as your gaming laptop or PC has a graphics card no more than ten years old, you should have no issue accessing the 7.7 Dynamic Worlds update. Star Wars The Old Republic has survived nearly 15 years as the go-to Star Wars MMORPG after Star Wars Galaxies was, very sadly, shut down in 2011. SWOTOR has received relentless updates, including the latest Dynamic Worlds update, which introduced a host of new encounters to the game. Despite this, the game's actual PC requirements have remained phenomenally low. The power of the Force may be with you, but you won't be needing the power of the best gaming PC from our buying guide if you want to dive into the best MMO in the Star Wars universe. PCGamesN Friday, July 18, 2025 9:25 AM Doom The Dark Ages may have been more 'stand and fight' than the conventional run-and-gun Doomguy outing, but that's not to say it was any less aggressive in its execution. The earth-shaking shockwaves emitted by the Slayer's steps as his feet beat the ground into submission give him all the poise and panache of a nuclear missile, each thud of the boot accompanied by Finishing Move Inc.'s raucous OST. While you were foregoing touching grass to explore Argent D'Nur, the Slayer and his metal-chugging chorus were more than embracing it, the latter in a more unconventional sense. The fact that the FC 26 Icons evolve indicates that the mechanic is being brought back, although it's unconfirmed whether the FC 26 Heroes will receive the same treatment. However, there are actually two methods to unlock skins: purchase the skin for 1,680 Genesis Crystals, or complete specific Genshin Impact events to unlock the skin for free. There was a good thing that had once been and a horse man who was now years removed from it, but still clung on to the idea that the magic was still there. I'll not stray into spoiler territory, but that clinging generally didn't go too well for old BoJack. He was a bitter, selfish, washed-up star who so often looked back, rather than looking forwards. Oblivion Remastered's devs knew that, and so opted to keep the classic "level up by doing the abilities you picked" approach, with some minor tweaks to make it less frustrating. In a statement to RPS, a company representative confirmed that games are being delisted as a result of the rules change, adding that the developers in question are being given Steam app credits as compensation. The alternative, Valve suggest, is that banks and card companies might pull the plug on all transactions, and users in general would lose the ability to buy stuff on Steam. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, July 18, 2025 4:07 AM ![]() FromSoftware's RPGs have done much to explore the cycle of death and resurrection that games have historically taken for granted, but ask comparatively few questions on how the bosses feel about all this. What of the growing psychological weariness that comes from having to swat the same quixotic gnat over and over? What of the despair that grows from realising that, in the eternal battle between godly power and free resurrections 4 life, resurrections will always win out on a long enough timeline. Broken meta. Plz fix. My crumbling empire and poetically exposed eterna-hubris cannot take any more. What I'm saying is, when people talk about Dark Souls being about "overcoming adversity", they are lying to themselves. Dark Souls is about being a tiny little cheater running face first into a wall until your head is so used to the shape of the bricks that they simply have no effect on your fat, dumb skull. Dark Souls is about using an unfair advantage to torture gods who are much better than you at everything. |

No Sleep for Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files feels like a filler season of an anime. The characters are generally interesting and the experience is fine, but it feels like a way to fill time while a bigger, grander, more meaningful experience is on the way. I enjoyed myself through this more brief adventure. Just I couldn't shake it feeling like it went through the motions of what we'd expect from an installment, rather than doing something truly fresh and new like AI: The Somnium Files - Nirvana Initiative.
Things begin in No Sleep for Kaname Date with a bit of a mystery and a typical type of AI: The Somnium Files moment. Kaname Date is being chased by mystery men. He sees an adult magazine and summons the strength to grab it and escape. As he stands in front of a mirror, he struggles to remember who he is and what happened. Upon getting outside, he witnesses these individuals and Iris Sagan, aka "A-set" and "Tesa," being abducted by aliens. From there, we see Iris trapped in room with a control console, ruins, and a wrist device that allows her to call upon Date for help. She's also instructed to make use of her third eye by the mysterious individual who trapped her there, ahead of a Great Reset. Meanwhile, Date isn't just tasked with investigating on his own and offering advice as she tries to escape, but with using Psync to head into Somnia to explore that world and discover more details tied to this new case.
No spoilers for the story, but even if Spike Chunsoft hadn't been upfront with No Sleep for Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files not being written by Kotaro Uchikoshi, I would have been able to tell. It's okay. It isn't like any established individuals act too out of character. But the story doesn't feel as engrossing as the previous two tales. Again, I don't want to spoil anything, but I came away with the impression that characters behaved the way I'd expect them to, rather than featuring any kind of unique presence, nuance, or development like we saw in the original two titles. It's fine enough and I had an okay time, but I wouldn't call it a must-play in the same way AI: The Somnium Files and its Nirvana Initiative sequel are.
That said, No Sleep for Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files starts you off with one of the Escape room puzzle segments. This is the new type of gameplay joining the real-world Investigation and Somnium explorations of Somnia segments. Essentially, it should be like pairing up elements of 999 and Zero Escape with AI: The Somnium Files. This means scouring environments in rooms, picking up clues and items, and piecing things together to proceed. This is from a third-person perspective, as we control A-set during these moments. However, we can zoom-in for a closer, first-person view for a more detailed look. It fits in well within the existing mechanics of the series, and the difficulty options allow you to turn things down to "story" level to remove any sort of penalizations or time limits for leisurely solving things. However, while it is fine, I didn't feel as challenged as I did during Uchikoshi's other works. Again, avoiding spoilers, it is very clear with the "tutorial" initial escape room what you need to do, and I couldn't shake that kind of feeling with any other Escape segments. Even when you do get to the point of adding Ota Matsushita to the mix, I never felt really accomplished after completing one of the challenges in that segment.

The Investigation and Somnia segments work similarly to past games. Depending on the type of scenario, either Date or Aiba is exploring to gain information. In an Investigation, that means going through places in Tokyo. In a "dream," that's a more otherworldly experience with its own dream logic you need to follow to get results and break Mental Locks within six minutes. In each case, this means interacting with the environment and talking with individuals. Though in Somnia, that does mean more puzzle elements, whereas in the real world it comes down to checking everything. The main difference here compared to past games is that the Investigation segments now include a bit of Somnium elements within the real world via Wink Psync. It is a timed segment to further analyze a person's thoughts and responses to get results that might otherwise be obscured.
If it seems like I'm struggling to find anything to really say about No Sleep for Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files, that's because I feel like there's really not much to say. It doesn't make the sort of substantial, storytelling strides forward as the other two installments in the series. The new Escape gameplay works fine, but it isn't as exciting as Kotaro Uchikoshi games that fully dedicate themselves to that kind of experience and mystery. The established Investigation and Somnia segments feel about the same as they always do and don't really reinvent the wheel. I had some fun, but not nearly as much as I did with its predecessors. It's there and feels like a placeholder ahead of whatever is actually next for the series. Folks who really enjoy AI: The Somnium Files and are biding time waiting for the next Uchikoshi project might like No Sleep for Kaname Date, but it isn't really for anyone else.
No Sleep for Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files will be available on the Switch, Switch 2, and PC on July 25, 2025.

There are many faces, both friendly and not, that you can meet around the village in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One of the many characters you may come across is Maleficent, a powerful fairy you may want to unlock.
If you're eager to add her to your village, you may be wondering what needs to be done to recruit her to the valley. She's not an easy character to get, so here's what you need to know to unlock Maleficent in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to get Maleficent in Disney Dreamlight Valley
![]()
Maleficent is unlocked as a villager at the very end of The Unwritten Realms: Maleficent's Demise quest. This task isn't an easy one to reach, though, as you first have to complete several prerequisite quests to unlock Maleficent.
Maleficent prerequisites in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Before you can unlock Maleficent, you need to complete the main storyline for The Storybook Vale part one and a decent chunk of part two as well. In total, there are 22 quests you have to get done before you can recruit her. All of the tasks you need to tackle are as follows.
To work through all of these quests, you also need to unlock and befriend Merida, Flynn, and Hades. They're important characters for all of these tasks, so getting them in your valley is crucial for eventually unlocking Maleficent, too.
![]()
The main quests that focus on recruiting her are The Unwritten Realms: Maleficent's Gift, The Unwritten Realms: The Spinning Wheel, and The Unwritten Realms: Maleficent's Demise. During these tasks, your goal is to find three essential memories to stop her from being erased. This includes:
Each one of these quests has a series of complex puzzles to solve and can take quite a while to get done. Between these tasks and the many other prerequisite missions that come before them, Maleficent is easily one of the trickiest characters to add to your valley. She's not a character you can jump in and unlock right away, so focus on steadily working your way through all of the required tasks over time to recruit her.
All Maleficent quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Once you have Maleficent in your village, there are quite a few quests you can complete for her to unlock an array of special rewards. All missions available as you build your friendship with her are as follows.

Note that besides selling, Materials also have a high value for crafting so check the Blacksmith anvil for crafting recipes and what materials you need. Don't sell these materials and you can lock them to make them unsellable by right-clicking on them in your inventory. Also note that you should keep Aurorite and Aetherite for Enchanting and some early-game items like Ruby or Emerald for Quests.
All Modifiers in Prospecting
In addition to digging out Minerals you can also sometimes find Minerals with special modifiers. These modifiers increase the base sell value of a Mineral so that they yield more cash. The rarer the modifier the bigger the % value increase. Here are all the modifiers so far:

Special event quests often ask you to travel to locations you may not usually visit in The Sims 4. The Nature's Calling event tasks you with exploring Desert Bloom Park quite a bit, so you need to know where to find this location.
None of the event quests provide any additional help for finding this spot, so tracking it down around the many worlds you can explore can be fairly tough. If you need to venture to this location but aren't sure where to look, here's where to find Desert Bloom Park in The Sims 4.
Table of contents
Where is Desert Bloom Park in The Sims 4?
![]()
Desert Bloom Park is the massive lot right in the center of the Oasis Springs world. This world is part of the base game, so all players have access to both the surrounding lots and this location.
This park is the biggest lot in Oasis Springs, so it's quite easy to spot once you're looking around the right area. Like all lots, though, this one can be replaced with any other builds you might like to put there, so there's a chance you may not have this lot in your world.
Even if you deleted Desert Bloom Park to replace it with something else, this lot will always be Desert Bloom Park for quest purposes. The big 50x50 lot right in the center of this desert world is always the one you need to visit when a quest tasks you with exploring this lot.
All objectives that point you towards this location will ask you to engage with the scenery around it rather than any items that are tethered to the original park lot. This means that even if you have a house, bar, museum, or any other type of lot present instead of the classic park, you can still explore the surrounding areas, which can't be edited, to get the required quests done.
How to visit Desert Bloom Park in The Sims 4

There are two ways you can travel to the Desert Bloom Park lot in The Sims 4. These ways include by phone or using the map. Here's how to venture to this location using each method.
Desert Bloom Park is a key location throughout all week one quests, all week two quests, all week three quests, and all week four quests in the Nature's Calling event. While at this location, you need to investigate the cave and break the cave open to explore the secrets to unlock the hidden Forgotten Grotto lot. Both Desert Bloom Park and the secret lot it hides are some of the best spots to visit when you're on the hunt for special Collectibles like Frogs, Fish, and rocks.

Completing all of your available weekly quests is one of the most efficient ways to earn lots of XP in Fortnite. They're sometimes decently challenging to figure out, though, as is the case with the hit Spires in different matches mission.
Since you're not given any additional guidance for this task, figuring out how to tackle it can be quite difficult. It's not too tricky to get done once you understand what's being asked of you, though, so here's how to hit Spires in different matches in Fortnite.
Table of contents
What are Spires in Fortnite?
![]()
Spires are mini boss battles you can tackle all around the island, involving both Overlord Spires and Scout Spires. They're essentially a giant floating rock that hovers in the sky and can be destroyed to claim some special rewards.
When you get close to a Spire, it will automatically start attacking you with everything it's got, including an array of demon guards it spawns in for protection. Spires also shoot a deadly laser designed to quickly drain your health, so ensuring you have plenty of loot to back you up is crucial when taking on these formidable foes.
If you manage to destroy a Spire, you'll be rewarded with some pretty solid loot. For beating one, I've gotten an Unstable Exotic Weapon, a Boon, Legendary weapons, Epic weapons, consumables, ammo, and gold bars.
Your loot will always include an Unstable Exotic Weapon when taking down an Overlord Spire and always feature a Boon when eliminating a Scout Spire. The rest of the loot you get alongside these key items is fairly random and changes each time.
Hit Spires in different matches in Fortnite Chapter 6, season 3
![]()
To complete the hit Spires in different matches quest, you need to strike any type of Spire once in three separate rounds. For the purposes of this task, you don't actually need to defeat the Spire. Instead, you just need to shoot or strike one once a total of three times across three matches.
Where to find Spires in Fortnite
The toughest part of this task is finding a Spire you can hit. Spire locations change in each match, and there are generally about six you can find around the island, including mostly Scout Spires and around one to two Overlord Spires.
If you're not sure where to find them, open your map after the match begins. Look for the white diamond-like icons all around the map and make your way to any of these locations. Spires usually spawn all across the vast island, so there are always plenty of options to choose from. If another player destroys one, it won't be available to attack any longer, so make sure you work on this quest early on in the match to avoid running out of Spires to fight.
There are many other missions you may need to work on after completing this quest. Next, consider using Spire Remnants to build a monument to the fallen academy, consuming different food or drink items at BURD To Go gas stations, hitting hero practice targets at different hero training outposts, and assembling surveillance gear at Demon's Domain.

Enchanting pans in Prospecting is accessible quite early (near the starting area) and it's all about getting specific Minerals used as enchanting material. I'll guide you through the entire process and help you pick out the best Enchants. Here's my Roblox Prospecting enchant guide, how to enchant, and all enchants listed.
Table of contents
How to Enchant in Prospecting
You can enchant your pan in Prospecting using Aurorite or Aetherite. There are three steps to enchanting pans which are the location, the materials you need, and the pan you want to enchant:
If you want to enchant another pan or switch enchants you'll have to use a new Aurorite or Aetherite each time.
All Enchants in Prospecting Listed
Below you'll find all the possible pan enchants in Prospecting along with their roll chances and effects. Note that enchanting the pan again will just reroll your enchant. Enchant rerolls use another Aurorite or Aetherite. All in all, it's always better to think ahead and farm for a better pan then to enchant the ones from the starting area.
Best Enchants in Prospecting
![]()
The best enchants in Prospecting are those based around either Luck or Sell Boosts. Lucky (10%) for Luck or Greedy (5%) for selling are great starting ones. That said you should aim for Midas (1%) for maximum sell boosts or Blessed (1%) for +10 Luck. Each point of Luck rerolls your chances for a higher quality Mineral keeping the best result, so the more Luck you have the more chances at rolling higher rarity Minerals. Shake boosts and Capacity don't matter that much since you'll usually stand close to water when digging anyway.
How to Farm Aurorite and Aetherite in Prospecting

The Pokémon Company has shadow-dropped news ahead of the Pokémon World Championships 2025, confirming when fans attending the event in Anaheim will be able to reserve their slot on the on-site Pokémon Center to get that exclusive merch.
The Pop-Up Pokémon Center will only be available for those in Anaheim, and reservations will only be open to registered spectators, competitors, or those who are approved for a pass at the event. This decision has likely been made to stop the public, and scalpers who didn't get a ticket the ability to go in and hoard all the items themselves. Whether or not that'll reduce the selling out and scalping of merchandise remains to be seen.
For those going to the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Reservations are open from 2 pm CT, Monday, July 21, 2025, and access to the registration website will be available via the Pokémon Center World Championships page.
Visitors who manage to book a slot will find a range of World Championship exclusive merchandise at the pop-up store featuring three special themed lines, which include bags, playmats, deck boxes, apparel, homeware, and so much more. These items will only be available for a limited time and only for those attending the event.
For those looking to book a slot, let me give you some personal advice from when I have gone to Worlds in the past. First, always book the first couple of days, as items quickly sell out, and you don't want to be going into a Pokémon Center on the last day and there is nothing available to buy other than what you can get online.
Also, if you book in the first few days, always do the first slots in the morning. Pokémon Company usually has a limited amount of exclusive stock that goes out each day, and if you go in an evening slot or even late afternoon. Chances are, the things you want won't be available or won't be in the size you want.
Also, be prepared to arrive as early as possible to start lining up. Every time I have been at the Pokémon Center, there have been constant delays, so you might not get in when you are meant to, so be prepared for several hours of wiggle room. If you book a slot and then have an appointment or something an hour after it, chances are you won't make your appointment as you'll still be stuck in the queue.
But good luck, trainers, hope you get what you want and get to book a slot. It'll run out quickly!

Pokémon Trading Card Game's JSV Black Bolt, White Flare expansions have arrived and focus on the Unova region, with hundreds of cards to collect, including rare illustration art for nearly every Pokémon in the Pokédex.
Surprisingly, most of the cards in this set are pretty affordable currently. There are a lot of them to collect, which is likely bringing the overall price down. However, that doesn't mean that some of the main chase cards have escaped inflated prices. Still, there are some to look out for in both, so here is a list of the top 10 cards from both packs (5 from each).
To get the prices in this article, we looked over multiple price websites, including TCGPlayer, eBay, Price Charting, and more, to get a comprehensive price guide based on pre-release sales data. The prices and cards will be updated should any major price shifts occur.

Donkey Kong Bananza's sublayers are basically the various worlds you can visit as you progress through the main story. There are a bunch of them to find, and an additional level once you beat the post-game.
First of all, spoiler warning. We will be going through every sublayer the game has, giving a bit of detail on what it is like and how you get there, so if you don't want to be spoiled on the various sublayers, turn back now.
If you want a number, though, then I'll let you know that answer right now. It's 17, with 16 of those being tied to the main story, and one you unlock after beating the game. But with that out of the way, let's dive into each one of them you will encounter.

If you are struggling to find the final Banadium Gem (Banana) in Donkey Kong Bananza's secret Nostalgia Country level, don't worry, you aren't alone, and even I took several minutes to try and find it.
The thing to know about these levels is, the Banana tokens on the floor symbolize where the Bananas are in the stage, you find the two regular Bananas by progressing through the level but the first of the three remains unchanged, so the game is trying to hint to you that the Banana is somewhere before you collected the first stage Banana.
Also, one final hint before I show you where it is. Isn't it weird you start in a recreation of one of the original DK Country levels, but you didn't start in DK's home..?
![]()
Anyway. The secret Banadium Gem is located at the very beginning of the level when you come out of the gate. Using the floor below you, you can either throw a piece of the soft dirt to give yourself a platform to jump onto, or you can scale the wall. Doing so will lead you to a secret area where there is a recreation of DK's home from the Country and 64 series remade in glorious HD.
Once you have had the chance to look it over, though, you'll notice the Banana is above your head. Completing the level and getting all three pesky Bananas you have been after. Once you have it, you are free to jump down and exit the level from where you came in, continuing the game on whatever quest you find yourself on.
Personally, I think it was a well-hidden Banana in a game where it's so easy to randomly come across a collectible without even trying, and it is one of the few Banadium Gems I struggled to find. So I hope this guide is helpful to you!
There isn't much else to really say, so I'll sign off by asking you to check out our review of the game, and maybe leave a comment below if this guide helped you at all! We'd appreciate it!
