Let's play some word association. I say 'iD Software,' you say… Doom? Quake? Wolfenstein, perhaps? For real FPS heads, the names Heretic and Hexen may also come to mind. Produced and published by iD in the mid 1990s, but developed by Raven Software (the folks now responsible for overseeing Call of Duty Warzone) these two shooters are extremely close cousins to Doom and Quake. Now they're getting another chance to shine. Nightdive Studios - the remaster specialist that has already tackled the likes of System Shock and the early Turok games - has worked its magic once more, with the new Heretic and Hexen bundle that features enhanced versions of both these iconic FPS games. The best part? It's out right now.

LG has showcased a new OLED gaming monitor at a trade show in South Korea this week that it's calling "the world's fastest" screen. This new 27-inch display features a huge 540Hz refresh rate, but it intriguingly also offers a 720Hz mode. However, the latter mode has a massive restriction, though, which we'll address in a minute.

OLED displays are the premium choice for gamers, and our best gaming monitor guide is filled with OLED models across different resolutions, sizes, and budgets. This LG display certainly has a claim to be one of the first to feature a 540Hz rate, given that it was only two months ago that the Samsung Odyssey G6 OLED was unveiled as a "world's first" with a 500Hz refresh rate.

For a moment, it looked as though AMD was about to unleash a killer new 16-core X3D CPU just for gamers, but a renowned tech leaker has now claimed the rumored chip is "fake," which tallies with what AMD has told us in a previous interview. The new 16-core AMD Ryzen X3D CPU was rumored to feature not one but two 3D V-cache chips, one for each batch of eight cores, giving it double the amount of L3 cache found in the acclaimed Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

AMD currently already makes a 16-core X3D chip in the form of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, but only eight of its 16 cores have direct access to a 64MB 3D V-cache chip. That means AMD can crank up the clock speed on the other eight cores to improve multi-threaded software performance, while the other eight cores with 3D V-cache are used for gaming, providing the best of both worlds. This rumored chip with two 3D V-cache chips, however, would only really be useful for gaming, and barely any games make good use of more than eight cores. If gaming is your top priority, the eight-core Ryzen 7 9800X3D remains the best gaming CPU on our buying guide.

What's on sale in the League of Legends Mythic shop? New skins for LoL are released all the time, with a new event arriving on the Rift every few weeks, but what happens if you missed the boat with that awesome K/DA Evelynn skin, or if you've seen a Hextech skin in a game of Summoner's Rift and want to bag it for yourself?

The Mythic shop is a special storefront in the free PC game that stocks rare skins, wards, chromas, and Nexes finishers. These cosmetic items aren't available for real-world money, as they can only be purchased with Mythic Essence, so no more worrying about how much you've spent in League of Legends. The stock held in this store is rotated regularly, with some skins becoming unavailable for months, so it's best to keep up to date on what's on sale in the League of Legends Mythic store.

I avoid every opportunity to parallel park. I don't care if the next space is a minute walk further, it's worth it if I don't have to try to squeeze my car in between two others. I know how to do it, I've done it before, I just stress about hitting the neighboring vehicles, or someone laughing as I perform a 19-point turn. Therefore, I'd benefit greatly from better-organized parking in most places I drive. Folk Emerging describes itself as a turn-based 4X strategy game, but in practice, it's possibly more of a 2.5X strategy game, in that it puts you in charge of a nomadic hunter-gatherer community from before the rise of agriculture and the founding of towns and cities.

As this developer update suggests, it's like the turn or two at the very start of Civilization when you just have one Settler unit, but stretched out across thousands of years, with a social element and rustic spreadsheet aesthetics that remind me of King Of Dragon Pass. It's got somewhat doofy cartoon Stone Age muzak, but is otherwise the most intriguing Civlike strategy game I've laid eyes on since the one that looks like an octopus murder scene - and whadayaknow, by happy coincidence there's a public playtest running from right now till August 18th.

Apex Legends launched its Season 26 update this week with the new Wildcard mode, what must be its fourth or fifth attempt at a 'battle royale but faster' sideshow. If anything, Wildcard – with its tightened safe zones, generous respawn allowances and automatic loot pickups – is the most ferocious, cage fightin'est variant yet, its matches routinely playing out as breathless slaughters as crammed-in squads fight, die, and resurrect over a condensed selection of strongholds.

Still, while I've enjoyed ApeLegs' previous action-favouring tweaks, something about Wildcard underwhelms. It's not the shooting, which is as crisp and dynamic as in any other Respawn FPS. And it's not the simplified gear gobbling, which is fine for a supplementary mode. It's that at the end of a Wildcard round, even the ones I've won, I've never felt that I've really gone anywhere or done anything except aim down my sights and left-click. In chasing nonstop drama it denies you something that good battle royales, and their progenitors, can so effectively deliver: a journey.

Next Nana Nendoroid Is a Nana 'Hachi' Komatsu Figure

Following the release of a Nana Osaki Nendoroid, Good Smile Company shared its next figure based on an Ai Yazawa heroine from that anime, live-action, and manga series is Nana "Hachi" Komatsu. There's no release window yet. The latest update on social media only involved a look at the prototype.

As a reminder, the Ai Yazawa series is about two young women named Nana who end up deciding to become roommates after a mishap with an apartment. As they share a name, Komatsu ends up with the nickname Hachi. As an up and coming musician with the rock group the Black Stones, Osaki is facing challenges both personally and professionally. Meanwhile, Hachi ends up in a love triangle with Black Stones guitarist Nobuo Terashima and Takumi Ichinose, who is bassist with the famous band Trapnest that Osaki's lover Ren Honjo plays guitar in.

While this is an unpainted prototype, the Nana 'Hachi' Komatsu Nendoroid is shown with a few accessories. She's shown with one face plate, in which she's smiling broadly. She also carries a purse in her left hand. A scarf is around her neck, though it is unknown if that will be removable in the final figure.

The Nana anime and manga is famous for being an unfinished work. Chapter 84 of the series ran back in May 2009, and the series went on hiatus as a result of the health issues of creator Ai Yazawa. While we have seen references to the series since, such as the previous Nendoroid and some Uniqlo shirts in July 2025, there's been no update on how or if the story will end.

The Nana "Hachi" Komatsu Nendoroid is in development, and there's no release window for the figure yet. Viz Media handled it and other Ai Yazawa manga series, while the anime is streaming on Hulu.

Persona 5 Royal Kasumi 'Violet' Yoshizawa Lucrea Figure Returns

Megahouse announced that the Lucrea Persona 5 Royal figure of Kasumi "Violet" Yoshizawa will be back again. This will mark the third time the company will resell it. She'll appear in Japan in February 2026. As Megahouse figures do eventually show up worldwide, we'll likely see her a few months after that in the US too.

Since this is a rerun, all of the details are the same. Kasumi is wearing her Violet Phantom Thief outfit. She's holding her sword, and making a peace sign with her right hand over her eyes. She isn't wearing her mask, but alternate parts allow her to wear her mask over her face or hold it in her right hand. She stands at about eight and a half inches tall (~220mm). This time around, she costs ¥19,800 (~$135). In the past, prior runs were about ¥13,800 (~$94).

As a reminder, here's how this Kasumi "Violet" Yoshizawa Persona 5 Royal Lucrea figure looks:

Lots of other characters from the game already appeared in the Lucrea line. For example, in October 2024 a Futaba "Oracle" Sakura figure showed up. Makoto "Queen" Niijima, Haru "Noir" Okumura, and Joker are also around.

The Persona 5 Royal Kasumi "Violet" Yoshizawa Lucrea figure will return to Japan in late February 2026. The game is on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Sanrio's Tuxedosam Paired Up With Pingu the Penguin in Japan

Two famous penguins are being paired up for merchandise in Japan, as Sanrio and Taito announced Tuxedosam x Pingu pillows will head to Japanese arcades. These have an "early" August 2025 release window. While we do know they will be available as prizes in that region, it's unknown if they'll appear elsewhere eventually.

Each of the Tuxedosam Pingu pillows features both the Sanrio character and other penguin. However, in one case, multiple mascots appear. The cushion with a blue background features only the two characters in matching sailor hats and bow ties, with each one holding blue and pink balloons. The logo for the crossover also appears across the top. The other pillow features the three playing music. Tuxedosam appears with maracas. Pingu plays an accordion. Finally, Pinga also shows up for this one with a tamborine.

All three pillows feature pink pom poms as decorations. Both are also the same size. They stand at about 13 inches tall (33cm).

Here's how they look:

This is the second Sanrio character crossover we learned about this week, and the other involved Tuxedosam too. A new Punirunes virtual pet will feature the mascots. One of the evolution options is Tuxedosam, who appears alongside Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, Pochacco, Kuromi, Chococat, Badtz Maru, and others.

The Tuxedosam x Pingu pillows that feature both the animated character and Sanrio penguin will show up in Japanese arcades in early August 2025. There's no US release window.

FFVII Rebirth Cloud Wild Surf Swimsuit Designed to Reference Zack

Square Enix took to social media to share insight into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth character designs again, and this time it brought up how the Cloud Strife Wild Surf swimsuit is also a reference to the one Zack Fair wears in Crisis Core FFVII. This involved closer looks at the concept art for the outfit from the front and back again. It also focused in on the metal patch on the back.

In FFVII Rebirth, Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa can each wear one of two possible swimsuit options while at Costa del Sol, based on which one you use a Companion Card to get while in the resort town. The Ocean Chocobo outfit involved longer shorts that went to his knees, gum shoes, and a blue shirt with Chocobos on it over a black top. The Wild Surf one is a black pair of trunks with matching flip-flops. To compare, Zack also wore swim trunks that went to the knee and flip-flops  when in Costa del Sol on vacation in Crisis Core FFVII, and that's also when he ended up using a beach umbrella as a weapon during a sudden attack.

Here's the official concept art showing Cloud in the Wild Surf swimsuit in FFVII Rebirth

To compare, here's Zack in his Crisis Core FFVII swimsuit. (The image was taken from the Reunion rerelease, and Square Enix used it as a 2023 calendar image.)

In the past, Square Enix also used social media to share concept art and details about other characters' swimsuits and designs from that game.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5 and PC, and FFVII Remake is on the PS4, PS5, and PC.The first entry in the remake series is also headed to the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X in 2025.

UFO 50 Switch Physical Deluxe Edition Includes a Guide

While a digital copy of UFO 50 is now on the Switch eShop for $24.99, Fangamer will be behind eventual physical standard and deluxe edition releases. Those won't be out until February 20, 2026. However, the special edition will feature a full UFO Companion Guide going over the UFO 50 games.

As a reminder, UFO 50 is a collection of 50 original games. However, there's in-collection-lore that these are all titles for a certain console called the LXIII. The titles cover lots of different genres, including action, RPG, puzzle, roguelike, strategy, and deck-building. Multiple developers came together for its creation.

In the case of the $35 standard edition, it gives you a physical copy of the game on a cartridge and some bonuses. One is a digital copy of the games' soundtracks. You also get a sheet of stickers, a postcard with art of what a UFO Soft "disk" would look like, and there's a 12" x 9" promotional poster for the "console." Images of those bonuses aren't available yet.

The $59 UFO 50 Switch physical copy is the one of the two that comes with the UFO Companion Guide. That set starts with the base standard edition, which also has the digital soundtrack and promotional items. The collector's option features two more prints and two more sticker sheets. The guide book is 116 pages. This will cover every game in the collection. Each one will feature details about the titles, art, hints for them, secrets to unlock items, and 100 more stickers.

The figure will have a total height of 22.3 cm (~8.78 inches).

An image of Madden 25 player celebrating a touchdown

If you've been trying to enjoy the early access of Madden 26 but can't do it properly, you're not alone.

The opening night of early access has been highly problematic for the servers. Numerous in-game issues and bugs have already appeared, particularly on the PC version. As a result, EA Sports has called in an emergency maintenance, which is already underway.

Is Madden 26 down?

As the time of writing this article, on Aug. 7, all the servers of Madden 26 are down. This applies to both the PC and console versions of the game. The servers have been taken down at 1pm PT/3pm CT/4pm ET. A short notice was handed out from the game's official X account, informing the audience.

https://twitter.com/MaddenNFLDirect/status/1953542342490960340

According to the official world, the maintenance targets a specific issue. The issue in discussion hasn't been announced, but there are plenty of bugs to fix, and that might be one of the biggest reasons behind the maintenance. There's no official news about when the maintenance will end. The downtime could be long, depending on what the exact issue is and how long it could potentially take EA to fix it.

How to check Madden 26 server status?

Server connection is mandatory if you're looking to enjoy the game. Most of the available game modes require a persistent internet connection. The easiest way to keep track of the servers is via the official game's X channel. Typically, there will be an official notice whenever the servers are taken down for maintenance (like the one above).

Another great source is following the game's subreddit, which is an active community for all things Madden. If the servers are down, you'll find one or more posts from the community. Finally, there are third-party sites like Downdetector that will accurately indicate when the Madden servers are down and not operating as intended.

Barkley jumping in the air to score a touchdown in Madden 26

Having fast RBs in Madden 26 will often become the difference between victory and defeat, and playing with the quickest ones will make a significant difference.

Once again, EA Sports has divided the position into HBs and FBs. However, the list of 10 fastest names is all HBs (no surprise, as it was the same trend last year). Let's take a look at how the fresh list looks in this year's game and who the fastest RBs (or HBs in this context) are.

10 quickest RBs in Madden 26

The table below is a combined list of the 10 fastest RBs (HBs) in Madden 26. To prepare the list, I have gone with the classic SPD attribute, but also added the AGI attribute. Having a combination of high speed and agility is amazing in the current meta of the game (similar to last year).

Player Name Overall Speed Agility
De'von Achane 83 96 91
Jahmyr Gibbs 95 95 93
Bayshul Tuten 75 95 90
Saquon Barkley 99 95 95
Keaton Mitchell 74 94 82
Kenneth Walker III 88 94 92
Velus Jones Jr. 69 94 80
Chase Brown 81 93 86
Isiah Pacheco 83 93 86
Breece Hall 84 93 90

Just like last year, De'von Achane is the quickest RB in this year's game. His 96 SPD is well balanced by his 83 OVR rating, and he can be an excellent pick in Franchise mode. The best name on the list, however, lies at 4th.

Saquon Barkley has received a 99 OVR rating, which is fitting to say the least. He is equally fast and agile in the field, with 95 ratings in both departments. There are a few lower-rated athletes on this list, but Jahmyr Gibbs is another notable name. He has excellent in-game stats, rounded up by his 95 overall rating.

While there are some FBs with respectable speeds and agility, none of them are good enough to make it to the table above. If you're managing a squad in Franchise mode that has weaknesses in the RB position, maybe signing a couple of names from the table above could be worth your time. If you're looking for quick QBs instead, there's a superstar you can play with.

Field Boss in Elden Ring Nightrein

Remember how everything became open-world in the second half of the 2010s? RPGs like The Witcher 3, puzzles like The Witness, racing like Forza Horizon 4, and many others couldn't escape its money-making powers. Bigger maps meant longer games and more time spent playing, which was, and still is, all big corporations want.

In 2025, it feels like the 30-minute randomized gameplay loops of rogue-likes are the new trend. Every game seems bound to become a rogue-like, or at least become a bit more random than it would have been if it had been released 10 years ago. Rogue Prince of Persia, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, and [REDACTED], from the world of The Callisto Protocol, are games that embrace the rogue-like label after being of different genres in their original form.

Even soulslikes, the most challenging games ever made, are getting random like in the release of Elden Ring Nightrein.

While it may seem like devs are just forcing uncertainty into games, it's actually players who seem to love the challenge brought by unpredictability.

Burn the script

Pokémon randomizers have been around for years now, changing grass encounters and opponents' teams. The Pokémon Nuzlocke challenge, which limits your captures and forces you to release fainted monsters, also got random editions, and what was already the hardest fan-made way of playing Pokémon became even harder. Legend of Zelda randomizers are also big among retro players, especially those made for Ocarina of Time. Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Mega Man, and Chrono Trigger all have fan-made mods that tune up the challenge by shuffling items, maps, and enemies.

Looking into modern titles, Dark Souls, Hollow Knight, and Skyrim have mods that mix monster spawns, reorganize item drops, and shuffle map layouts. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a 2025 GOTY contender, also got a randomizer despite being a scripted RPG. Not even rogue-likes are safe: Hades and Risk of Rain 2 are just some of the already random games getting more RNG by players who love flirting with good and bad luck.

Matchmaking in competitive games is also a form of randomness in otherwise scripted games, like queuing up for a Counter-Strike 2 or League of Legends match. Some players chase uncertainty further in modes like ARAM, where the computer chooses everyone's characters at random. Overwatch's Mystery Heroes works the same way, just like Halo Infinite has random loadouts in the Fiesta mode and Magic: The Gathering forces players to craft a deck from sealed packs in Booster Draft. Except for MTG, these are cases where not knowing what resources you'll get lowers the stakes and makes for a casual experience because nobody, noob or veteran, has time to prepare for what's coming. Unpredictable matches put everyone on an even playing field.

Every game is bound to become a Rougelike(-like)

Players' obsession with not knowing what's coming next is also due to the feeling of freshness, not only difficulty. Randomness makes every round feel new, even if you've mastered the details of the game. A good randomizer or rogue-like lets you play a game for a lifetime without ever experiencing the exact same run.

As I write this post, there are over 18,000 people playing The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth on Steam. This Roguelike has been out for 11 years. The last time the game received a DLC was in 2024, 13 years after the original The Binding of Isaac released in 2011. There's no constant flow of new content like in other live service games, so people stick to The Binding of Isaac because it always feels like a new challenge, thanks to randomness.

It won't take long for devs to bake randomizers into big game releases, especially RPGs. The usual New Game+ and open world features that keep us attached longer to these titles seem basic next to the blue ocean of possibilities uncertainty adds. Some people can beat Elden Ring with mind control, so I'm a believer that any scripted game at any difficulty level will eventually be turned to dust by a dedicated player.

Developers release DLCs when they know players have gone through all there is to see in their game. But releasing extra content takes time, money, and risk. Adding randomness, however, is a one-time investment to create infinite replayability and turn games evergreen.

Since big publishers are always looking for ways to make players stick to their games for longer, I guarantee your next favorite game will have a lot more randomness than you expect. And you'll probably like it.

An image of Madden NFL 25 of a QB being chased

QBs might not be the most pace-dominant position in Madden 26, but it's always useful for them to have a burst of speed.

One of the most commonly used dummies in the game is to run with your QBs. This can confuse the opposition, who might have been expecting a throw to one of your WRs or RBs. That's when the essence of speed comes in, and there are some pace merchants in this year's release. Let's take a look at the ten quickest QBs

10 quickest QBs in Madden 26

The table below lists the 10 fastest QBs in this year's default database. To determine their speed, I have used the SPD attribute. I have also added their agility ratings, which can be useful in certain situations (more so when you're trying to escape the clutches of the incoming defender).

Player Name OVR SPD AGI
Lamar Jackson 99 96 94
Jalen Milsroe 65 93 89
Justin Fields 74 92 93
Kyler Murray 79 92 90
Anthony Richardson Jr. 72 91 88
Malik Willis 64 90 92
Jayden Daniels 85 90 91
Jalen Hurts 86 89 90
Drake Maye 78 89 82
Max Duggan 60 88 80

The list of top 10 speediest QBs is a mixed bag. There are many athletes with low overall ratings, but there are also some superstars. On top of the list is Lamar Jackson, who retains his crown as the fastest quarterback in Madden 26. He is also the highest-rated player, with an overall rating of 99.

There are two QBs on the list who are worth your attention. Jayden Daniels and Jalen Hurts have overalls of 85 and 86, respectively. While there are a few names between the duo and Jackson, both Daniels and Hurts have significantly better stats in an all-around fashion. Some of the lower-rated names can be worthwhile signings for you in the Franchise Mode (if you're looking for a cheap reinforcement).

Verdansk Warzone Ranked Play operators overlooking the map

Call of Duty: Warzone players know Verdansk is where heroes were made and stories were forged, but the legends will grow ever-larger now thanks to Ranked Play on the OG map.

Ranked Battle Royale did not exist the last time Warzone had Verdansk, so this is the first time that the competitive ladder mode will be available on the classic map that took the world by storm when Warzone launched in 2020.

In Warzone's Battle Royale Ranked Play, certain weapons and equipment are restricted, players gain score by picking up eliminations and placing high along with winning games, and is a different-feeling experience than normal games. CoD players are understandably hyped about Ranked in Verdansk, but it's currently M.I.A.

Here's everything there is to know about Warzone's Ranked Play is coming back to Verdansk.

Where is Ranked Play in Warzone?

Verdansk Ranked Play return in Warzone

Ranked Play in Warzone is currently offline at the start of season five in BO6, which added several new weapons and an important new contract.

Activision, along with Warzone developer Raven Software, has confirmed that Ranked Play will be coming back to Warzone and to Verdansk for the first time at a later date, supporting teams of three in a mode similar to Black Ops 6's Ranked Play, featuring skill divisions, skill rating, unlockable rewards, and a lot more.

When is Ranked Play coming back in Warzone?

Image via Activision

Warzone Ranked Play is offline at season five launch, but will be coming back soon, Activision confirmed. The ranked mode is still missing several hours after the new season went live at 11am CT on Aug. 7, but it should be back up soon.

Until Ranked Play is back online, it's time to enjoy Verdansk in solos, duos, trios, and quads, or even mess around for fun in the Battle Royale Casual mode, but use your time wisely to get ready for ranked. Resurgence Casual is a new mode in the season that could be fun to warm up in, too.

Alongside Ranked Play's return, Verdansk is also getting an update at Stadium. The POI will now be able to open with a new contract that's shrouded in secrecy.

BO6 Zombies Reckoning

The final Black Ops 6 Zombies map is here, but before you finish the story, you'll need a weapon strong enough to keep you in the fight.

While the new Gorgofex Wonder Weapon is of interest to all Zombies gamers, the first thing you need to do in any Zombies map is locate the Pack-a-Punch machine to power up your guns so that you'll be able to mow down the hordes of the undead efficiently while trying to figure out the main story quest and all of its Easter Eggs along the way.

Here's how to find the Pack-a-Punch machine in BO6 Zombies Reckoning.

BO6 Zombies Reckoning Pack-a-Punch location

BO6 Zombies Reckoning laser room
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Pack-a-Punch machine can be found in the T2 Sublevel 10 area, which is the room with a massive laser in the middle of it. To get there, follow the first few objective markers.

  • Get to Richtoften's office.

Buy the first few doors to navigate your way through the towers, using teleporters and launchers to make your way to Tower 1's Executive Suites level. Once you're there, interact with the item on Richtofen's desk to spawn a portal that will take you to T2 Sublevel 10.

Once in Sublevel 10, restart the Particle Accelerator by interacting with the marked icon, and the massive laser in the room will power on. Now, you must shoot 12 Aetherium deposits marked within the Coolant Pipes to fix your error and get to the next step.

Once complete, the Pack-a-Punch machine spawns in. It will be floating around in the middle of the room, and occasionally it will disappear for a second before teleporting close by in the area.

As usual, Pack-a-Punch costs 5,000 points to use, so make sure to kill enough zombies to get what you need to power up your weapon.

Players shooting an enemy in Guntouchables

Indie title Guntouchables is grabbing plenty of headlines with its unique offer (keep the game for free if you play in the first 24 hours), and it's the perfect title to enjoy with your friends.

Despite being in early access, the game offers both single and multiplayer content for players. There are different game modes available as well, offering a good variety to players. While you can matchmake with random players, there's a cool system to form a lobby with your friends. The underlying system is fairly simple, but this guide will help you avoid all confusion.

How to play Guntouchables with friends?

A lot of multiplayer titles force you to be friends with players to form lobbies. Guntouchables, on the other hand, uses simple code-based lobbies. Here's how you can play with your friends.

  • Load the game up and open multiplayer.
  • You'll find a host of public lobbies to join for your applicable region. Don't join any game.
  • At the bottom right corner, you'll find the option to create a lobby.
  • Your created lobby will have a code.
  • Copy the code, and disable your lobby from being public.
  • If your created lobby is public, any player on the same server can join.
  • Once your created lobby is private, share the code with your friends.

Here's what your friends then have to do to play in the same lobby.

  • Open and load the game.
  • Go to multiplayer.
  • On the top right side of your screen, you get the option to use a code to join a lobby.

The Leadspitter 3000 in the hands of a player

The Leadspitter 3000 is one of the many shiny new toys you can come across in Fortnite Chapter 6, season 4, and it can cause substantial damage.

In simple words, this gun is a modified Gatling chaingun. It can blast a massive amount of rounds at one go and can wipe out squads in an instant. The weapon is also associated with a Kickstart quest that grants you additional season XP. Let's find out how you can obtain this powerful gun in the new season.

How to obtain Leadspitter 3000 in Fortnite Chapter 6, season 4

Since this is a new Legendary weapon, the Leadspitter 3000 can't be found in common chests. As of writing, I haven't found a guaranteed way to obtain this 12-barreled minigun. The best way of obtaining it seems to be landing at the OXR Armories.

You'll find unique weapons that you can purchase for Gold. However, this list doesn't include the Leadspitter 3000. Instead, you can get it from an OXR chest. These chests are always found at an OXR armory and bug outpost. You're guaranteed an OXR weapon from opening one of these chests.

The weapon you get will depend on your luck. It's a lot easier to obtain the common and rare weapons compared to the ones with lower odds. However, the OXR chests are your best options for trying to get a Leadspitter 3000. So far, I have found two of them from the nine chests that I have opened. There are other Legendary weapons that you can also obtain from these chests.

Hence, it could take you a few tries before you manage to get this weapon. Of course, you can open multiple OXR chests on a single run. However, you should be careful, since their zones will attract other players. You could also get the gun if you manage to kill an enemy who has it. That said, it's better not to come in its line of fire as it can shred through your armor and health in a few seconds.

To complete The Great Social Treasure Hunt event, you need to piece together a series of clues hidden across various official DDV social channels. This mini-event is part of the larger Treasure Hunt, but the process for working through it is entirely different.

Up until Aug. 12, the DDV team will sometimes drop secret clues across social media. These will always contain a capitalized section, which is part of the code needed to complete this event.

All The Great Social Treasure Hunt clues in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Three pieces of The Great Social Treasure Hunt event code have been unveiled so far. Here are all of the parts of the code that the DDV team has revealed. We'll update this guide as the rest are shared.

Scarlet Witch walking by a Medallion on the ground in Fortnite

To face the danger that's plaguing the island in Fortnite, you need to loot up with the best items you can find. Medallions are some of the strongest assets you can have in your inventory, but they can be a bit tricky to find.

The process for earning Medallions looks a bit different this season, so it can be a tough process to master at first. If you're looking to add one of these powerful items to your inventory, here are all Medallions, how to get them, and the effects they grant in Fortnite Chapter Six, season four.

All Fortnite Shock N' Awesome Medallions

Image via Epic Games

There are three different Medallions you can obtain in Chapter Six, season four. All of these Medallions are earned by taking down the same boss, but the specific one you get varies depending on where you face her.

Additional Medallions may be added as the season progresses, especially since they always bring back the Birthday Medallion in September, so as any new ones emerge, we'll add them here.

Icon Medallion Location Effect
Surge medallion in fortnite Surge Medallion The Hive Boosts your movement speed and grants a bonus burst of speed while sliding.
Springleg medallion in fortnite Springleg Medallion Demon's Debris Grants you the ability to double jump with fall damage immunity.
Carapace medallion in fortnite Carapace Medallion Ranger's Ruin Gives you 50 health each time you eliminate an enemy and passively restores three shield points up to 50 shield points in total.

How to get all Medallions in Fortnite Chapter 6, season 4

You can get the Medallions featured in Chapter Six, season four by slaying the Queen. She rules over three regions around the map, and you can acquire a Medallion by defeating her at any of these locations.

To get the Queen to spawn, you need to attack all small bugs and pods around the area until the "Neutralize the threat!" health bar changes to the "Slay the Queen!" bar. Once it does, you can get to work taking her down with whatever weapons you have on hand. Although she might seem like an intimidating foe, the process for killing the queen is the same as fighting any regular enemy, so fire at her with everything you've got until she eventually perishes in battle.

The Queen only drops one Medallion at each location, so as soon as she's defeated, be sure to race to grab it as quickly as possible. If you're seeking a specific Medallion, you also need to make sure you venture to the location where it drops.

How to get Surge Medallion in Fortnite

The Surge Medallion is earned by defeating the Queen at The Hive POI. This location is found near the northwest end of the island, west of Swarmy Stash, northeast of Shiny Shafts, and east of Resistance Base.

How to get Springleg Medallion in Fortnite

You can get the Springleg Medallion by besting the Queen in battle at Demon's Debris. Venture to the far south end of the island to explore this area. Demon's Debris is the POI that was previously called Demon's Domain before Daigo destroyed it. It's situated directly east of Canyon Crossing and west of Kappa Kappa Factory.

How to get Carapace Medallion in Fortnite

The Carapace Medallion is earned by eliminating the Queen at Ranger's Ruin. This area is located near the far west end of the island, north of Canyon Crossing and south of Shiny Shafts.

With a Medallion now in your possession, you're ready to face whatever the massive bug invasion has in store. Next, you may want to work on collecting items from Hive Stashes, increasing your OXR Rank, claiming Capture Points, and finding OXR Armories.

all shikai and bankai in type soul ranked and shikai guide

Updated on August 7, 2025: Added a full Bankai tier list. Note that for Shikai I'm only rating based on the base moves and for Bankai I take both the Shikai and Bankai moves into consideration.

I'll rank all Shikai and Bankai in Type Soul from best to worst according to the re-release buffs and nerfs and recent changes. Note that I'll be taking into account build combos with Hakuda, Speed, Kendo, etc., as well as combo potentials. Check out the Type Soul Shikai and Bankai tier list and guide below.

Type Soul Shikai Tier List

type soul shikai tier list

In this Type Soul Shikai tier list I ranked Shikais according to how powerful and oppressive they are when played at their maximum potential. This is why for some I assume you're mixing them with other builds like Hakuda/Speed/Kendo which I will recommend. It's also why you'll see some Uncommons in the S-Tier because their true combo (stun-lock) potentials are amazing when you learn how to chain them into other moves from the skill trees. Lastly, I'm heavily taking into account the recent buffs and nerfs so if a Shikai like Duality used to be SSS, note that now it's much weaker. More on that below as we take a look at each Shikai individually.

Rerolling Shikais: If you want to reroll your Shikai check out our Type Soul codes for free rerolls.

Partial Res: If you're a Hollow/Arrancar players check out our Partial Res tier list.

Schrift: If you're a Quincy player check out our Schrift tier list.

S-Tier Shikai

S-Tier Shikai Notes

Benihime
Mythic
• The new rework is amazing with tons of true combo potential and works really well with Speed and Kendo builds
• Stun combo potential with X and great defenses with C
• Very flexible with great damage, good defense and combos

Ink
Legendary
• Has one of the best passives (Ink) in the game that reduces enemy damage and slows them basically discouraging them from going for true comboes
• Apply the Ink passive with C (huge hitbox so aim behind to avoid block) and critical
• X is a double attack where the first one disables half the enemy moveset and the second hit disables the entire moveset
• Use X immediately after guardbreak for the best results
• Incredible control of your opponent and you can get really tanky if opponents go for comboes while Inked

Theatre
Legendary
• The best noobstomper in the game because usually new to mid-experience players don't know how to counter Z and X which cannot be parried or blocked (You have to side dodge it)
• C is an amazing counter move that true combos into Rising Swallow, Floating Strike and generally a lot of moves except into Unseen Blade which is a slight nerf
• Good on a wide variety of builds

Flower
Legendary
• The Flower is so powerful since every time you land any Flower move you get an aura around you that deals really great damage
• Z is a great combo starter due to the stun and X is huge damage and guardbreak
• Finally C is great for repositioning and can extend your comboes
• The damage effects just get boosted further with max expansion

Shinso
Rare
• S-Tier underrated option but I'm going to assume you're doing Shinso with Shikai Stasis since it's only competitive with it (The base crit is really weak)
• This is a very versatile Shikai that has a ton of combos
• Z is good for poking and canceling moves
• X is a great counter that sets up other moves with a true combo like X into C
• C does a lot of guardbreak and is a great mix up move at any point

Creation
Uncommon
• Incredibly high skill cap Shikai that relies on you learning all the comboes you can do with it
• For example, ZM1 has hyperarmor on frame 1 that mini-stuns so you can use it to prevent a move or combo it into Floating Strikes/Fast Fang
• ZM2 is a true combo starter like up close into Rising Swallow or mid-range into Bisection
• X also true combos into a lot of moves like Fast Fang to extend your combo
• C is good for combo starting and guardbreaking but also baiting out parries and you can just leave it down to always keep your opponent on their toes
• Overall an incredibly good Shikai that requires a lot of practice

Weight
Uncommon
• Weight is actually really good now due to the damage and cooldown buffs as well as the passive application buff where everything applies it
• Just stack up your passive and you get a free true combo from anything that pops the passive
• A lot of the moves now have hyperarmor like X's second part can't be canceled
• Overall a really powerful Shikai option now

A-Tier Shikai

A-Tier Shikai Notes

Duality
Mythic
• The heaviest nerf Duality got which put it in A-Tier is that your cooldowns are now shared between stances so the Black C Shift no longer resets your CDs
• Still, even though it doesn't do crazy damage due to cooldown resets as before Duality is still good due to the three ZXC guardbreaks on Black, it's just not S-Tier anymore
• The White moves used to be OP when you could spam them but they're still decent now that there's no CD reset with Z being unpunishable

Ice
Legendary
• Z is really good if you play around distance since if you land the end of it you get an extra stun effect plus Z is really low CD
• C is one of the best Shikai counters in Type Soul currently due to the massive damage it does
• X is the only move that keeps Ice from S-Tier since it can be easily countered

Blood
Legendary
• There's a lot of mix ups and combos you can do with Blood with Z as your starter since the second part stuns
• The C is a really fast reliable move
• Overall it's a really good Shikai that combos well with itself and heals you if you keep landing the moves
• It deals damage to you if you miss but note that this doesn't happen if you get blocked, parried or dodged.

Judgement
Rare
• The main tool of Judgement is that Z is quite powerful and allows you to stack another move right behind it to apply more pressure
• Z into critical or eviscerate is really good
• X's second part is a counter and deals more damage if you apply Objected with Z
• C guardbreaks if you hit them with X's counter

Berserk
Rare
• Like Theatre this is a noobstomper because the Z move is difficult to block/parry and gets hyperarmor below 50% HP
• That said X is easy to parry even with its flexibility for mobility or hyperarmor keeping Berserk from S-Tier
• C guardbreaks
• Berserk is perfect in A-Tier especially when you consider Unsealed Rage

Water
Rare
• Is really good with the recent Rei changes (Less overall rei/No accessories have Rei) since Water steals Rei on hit (Really good on a Speed or Kendo build to apply pressure)
• Just combo moves with Speed/Kendo moves to steal reiatsu and keep applying pressure to drain your opponent
• X and C combo into a lot of Speed/Kendo moves
• It's not S-Tier because it's not OP and takes a lot of setup and combo practice

B-Tier Shikai

B-Tier Shikai Notes

Snow
Mythic
• With the true stun, wind up and cooldown nerfs as well as the removal of hyperarmor (you can get parried) Snow isn't as good as it used to be
 • If you were a Snow veteran and know how to make the most of the moves with a Hakuda/Kido build you can still be decently competitive
 • Otherwise while it's decent, it just doesn't apply the same pressure as before with Kendo or Speed builds

Kyoka Suigetsu
Mythic
• The main weakness of Kyoka and the reason it's in B is that it's only good if you play around your clone and your clone doesn't always act optimally which can be annoying
• Still, if you get lucky and your clone cooperates and isn't glitchy, you can pull of some amazing builds with Yamato
• Use Sonata Flow and Flash Fang to stun enemies as your clone movestacks without getting killed
• A big weakness is that your clone can get one shot in the first few seconds when summoning if the opponent plays smart

Zangetsu
Rare
• While Zangetsu deals great damage and has good guard break and ragdoll potential, the moves are a bit telegraphed and easy to parry
• Overall it's a great noobstomper but you'll struggle against players who know how to dodge and parry

Assimilation
Legendary
• Used to be much better before they made the Absorb stacks only go to 50 which nerfed the ZM1 and ZM2 damage
• Absorb is still good for making X move really good
• That said the stun potential of both X and C also got nerfed so while you have a lot of options, they just don't as much damage and stun combos as before

Suzumebachi
Legendary
• While Z and C can do good damage they can be easily parried/dodged due to the slow/predictable windups
• X is really powerful if you can land it and good for combo extension with Jump/Sonata or Jump/Crit

Fire
Rare
• Best combined with Hakuda or Speed to stay close to the opponent and apply pressure with Z ragdoll into other moves
• With X and Hakuda, knock them up to blockbreak then go Reach to extend it
• Overall a decent mid Shikai that requires other skill trees to be competitive

Lightning
Uncommon
• Z no longer has true stun combos with many of the skill tree moves
• That said, it's still incredible for mobility and guard breaking with X and C
• Easily punished if you miss

C-Tier Shikai

C-Tier Shikai Notes

Ash
Rare
• Decent with a Hakuda build but overall isn't the most powerful in terms of damage and true comboes
• That said, the X into the C move is a pretty good basic combo

Wind
Uncommon
• C is the MVP move here due to the long range AOE that can be used as an ender and combo starter
• Decent damage but no OP synergy and combos

Poison
Uncommon
• Decent damage over time damage
• Can still be viable with some build comboes
• Due to the effects you can usually charge up another move

D-Tier Shikai

D-Tier Shikai Notes

Confusion
Rare
• Confusion clones are way to easy to tell apart so you're not really confusing anyone
• Z is horrible since it's a free punish if you mistime it
• Overall gets countered by a lot of things, even something as simple as Kendo 50
• The counter is decent but doesn't save it

Shadow
Uncommon
• Overall doesn't synergize and combo into many moves that it used to combo before
• While Confusion is at least good for its counter Shadow is probably the worst Shikai in Type Soul

Type Soul Bankai Tier List

type soul bankai tier list and guide

When it comes to the best Bankai in Type Soul I took into account the Shikai moves as well but overall the strongest ones are those that both boost the base moveset and give you OP stuff. Some Shikai become drastically more powerful with Bankai like Kyoka Suigetsu and some stay the same or become worse if they don't bring anything knew to the kit. Compare this with the Shikai tier list for the best results. That said, let's analyze each bankai in Type Soul individually.

S-Tier Bankai

S-Tier Bankai Notes

Kyoka Suigetsu
• The Bankai makes you a bit less reliant on your clone since the T is so OP dealing a flat third of the enemy's max HP in true damage and disabling flashsteps/moves
• Speaking of OP the G move swaps health once with one opponent meaning you cain bait out damage on yourself to like 1 bar and then swap HP and do T to basically one-shot someone
• Incredibly strong 1v1 and you should combine this with Yamato for one of the best 1v1 builds in the game right now

Duality
• While the Duality Shikai cooldown reset was removed for a massive nerf, you won't notice it in the Bankai since you'll have new moves like the hit-stun critical for chaining into other skills
• T just makes you straight up immune to everything as you do it so it's great for combos but also dodging moves
• G is also a great combo starter with its hitstun and ragdoll as well as the C which is just straight damage that you can M1 or critical from
• A great 1v1 combo is to start with C then do X since the knock up will land them straight back into your C
• Really powerful close-range 1v1 Bankai
Benihime • The moves all got a bit of a rework where the T now traps people around it to auto confirm the hit
• The old G heal got moved to a passive that will heal you from time to time freeing up the G slot for an OP auto-track chain that stuns for a long time and true combos into your other moves
• Overall amazing damage, true combo potential and sustain with great M1s to boot, easy S-Tier

Flower
• This is all about the T move that traps your opponent as swords pummel them from all directions for a hitstun combo starter and if they don't escape right away using something like Time Cut or Horizon you win
• The T also boosts X and C to cover the entire area but deal less damage so it's really hard to parry
• To top it off the G just stuns the enemy so you can M1 combo them, do X and C or any other move combo you want
• The Shikai is S and the Bankai is another easy S

Ink
• You get a really great M1 and critical passive that summons a hand that ragdolls on M1s/Crits allowing you to combo start and combo extend
• What's really powerful is the T move because it cuts off Reiatsu regeneration and makes their skills cost more which is incredibly powerful with the Rei nerfs for all races and no Rei accessories
• The G just boosts the damage enemies take and has its range extended in T so you can hit it more easily
• So much damage and Reiatsu debuffs with this one especially if you combine it with the Hyosube clan when your T is on cooldown for a broken dueling build

Shinso
• Shinso has some of the most hyper armor, true combos and mobility packed into one moveset
• First up is the passive where you apply a mark with T and when they drop to 15% HP the mark turns red and it auto-executes them
• T is a hyperarmor move that can stunlock and combo or end a combo
• G autoexecutes enemies on 15% HP but is also otherwise a great mobility move
• Z and C are also empowered in terms of range and better flexibility for combos
• Overall a powerful moveset that's highly flexibile

Zangetsu
• While the Shikai is decent, the Bankai turns you into a massive damage machine with hyper armor and guard break moves all around
• Every Shikai move gets boosted with damage, range and applies ragdoll for comboing
• The T move is an amazing combo starter or extender into Z, X, C
• G is amazing poke and zoning or for finishing your opponent from range and it stuns so if they get hit once they get hit by everything

Water
• Water just keeps doing Reiatsu steals with Bankai moves which is really strong due to the Reiatsu nerfs for all races
• Your T is amazing for movestacking since it lasts a long time and keeps pulling enemies towards its center draining Rei and forcing enemies to parry
• G is just another great damage and control tool that steals Rei
• Also your Z X and C moves are boosted to spawn those movement hampering whirlpools
• The moveset is generally A-Tier but I'm putting this into S-Tier since there's so many ways to steal Reiatsu which really hurts since there's overall less Rei regen and no Rei accessories (Combine with Hyosube clan to make players ragequit)

Berserk
• The Rushdown T move is really good for closing distance and starting combos since it has hyperarmor so it can't be parried
• All your moves apply the Cripple effect and your gain stun/grab immunity with a short cooldown where you stun the enemy instead which is SSS Tier
• G is amazing since it auto-teleports you to the enemy bypassing block for almost free damage
• Overall Berserk has become a powerhouse with Unsealed Rage and all the damage you can do

A-Tier Bankai

A-Tier Bankai Notes

Creation
• The Bankai adds more combo potential and a strong mechanic with the mark passive on all abilities that makes your ZM1 instantly teleport and do damage which is great mobility or extender
• T is really annoying to deal with since it lasts a while a follows the opponent constantly applying pressure
• G has three parts for combos where the first and second activations are hyper armor attacks and then the third is a stun attack that true combos into Rising Swallow, Floating Strikes, and pretty much any Kendo or other moves you want.
• Overall Creation is really powerful but you really have to work for it and practice it to get the combos down while S-Tiers are usually a bit overpowered so that's why it's A-Tier

Snow
• Besides all your skills automatically being empowered while in Bankai, the G what you're here for because it's a long-range AOE damage ragdoll to chain into C or X and a bunch of other moves
• The T just ragdolls everyone around you for starting combos but note that they can escape with stuff like Time Cut, Blooming Cut, etc.
• The only problem I have with Snow is that while all moves are empowered the Z move you get is the iFrame damage move instead of the Z counter which I would prefer
• Overall a really good Banaki for fighting multiple people but not as OP as the other S-Tiers in a 1v1 so I would give it A, especially because the Shikai is B

Assimilation
• Assimilation becomes much better in Bankai because your absorb cap goes from a locked 50 to 180
• The Z now deals massive damages when fully stacked up unlike the Shikai (I recommend ZM2 for the wide AOE)
• The G both charges you up to 100 instantly, increases the cap to 300 and also makes you explode on death for massive damage which is amazing in teamfights and discouraging ganks so that the entire enemy team doesn't get blown up
• The T deals massive damage and guardbreaks while also giving you 45 damage absorption to charge up Z faster
• Overall a completely different deal than the Shikai and actually viable

Weight
• Weight Bankai really just builds on the already amazing Shikai that applies the stun passive
• T and G are just great AOE damage moves to force enemies closer to you so that you can keep comboing them
• Make sure to spam T and G only after you apply the Shikai passive stun to confirm the hits which is sort of like a true combo from Shikai skills
• The Bankai isn't S-Tier because it doesn't really boost the base kit in anyway just adds two moves to it so A is perfect

Suzumebachi
• Every move gets empowered in Bankai like Z and X now apply a massive slow to cripple opponents making it really hard for them to fight you without a mode/mobility moves (they also ragdoll and have hyperarmor)
• C is an amazing mobility move because it teleports and best of all you can do it twice
• T is a massive damage grab with the bazooka but it's hard to hit so I recommend only doing it after you slow them with Z and X
• Lastly G is just good ranged poke that has to be aimed

Ice
• Just going off the passives this is already a strong Bankai since you get auto executes on low HP targets turning them into bomb clones and you also Ice nearby players every 20 seconds setting up a stun and burst damage on three passive stacks (Moves also apply Ice stacks)
• That's right, Z and X and Bankai moves will also apply the Ice passive making it easier for you to freeze enemies and proc burst damage on 3 stacks
• T isn't a good engage since people can run out of it but it's great after a stun for more damage and an Ice stack
• Now G is a decent combo starter since it teleports you and stuns allowing for a combo, especially if this procs the Ice passive 3 stacks

Blood
• Great M1s with T active and parry passive that ragdolls enemies allowing you to combo start off of it
• G is also a great combo starter since if you hit with it which is really easy, you can reactivate it to ragdoll players and start a combo
• Overall a great combo Bankai that also heals you but nothing too overpowered so it's perfect for A-Tier

B-Tier Bankai

B-Tier Bankai Notes

Theatre
• Both the T and G are great damage with T setting up combos with its stun and G being a bit slow but guardbreaking
• That said while the Shikai was a noob stomper the Banaki doesn't really improve the base kit so it falls behind a bit
• The other Bankai have much better spammable options and usually improve the base kit
• It's still B-Tier and not useless since the base Shikai kit is great, especially the counter, and T and G do good damage but it's not higher tier material when compared to the others

Confusion
• Confusion is a great defensive Bankai even though it's kind of weak damage wise
• Your passive will place down a mark on the ground every 15 seconds saving your current HP, Rei and position that you can pop back to with T to restore anything if you've lost it which is really strong
• The only damage option is G that auto tracks, deals okay damage and has iFrames allowing you to dodge moves
• Lots of utility here even though it's not much damage so B-Tier is perfect since you'll have to look for damage in other Skill Trees

Judgement
• Judgement just sort of gives you new moves and more ways to apply your slowing and damage reduction debuffs
• T is a reliable targeted burst damage tool while G is a multi-hit barrage of sustained damage
• Overall with the Shikai works really well but isn't anything OP and experienced players will learn to avoid it so B-Tier is perfect

Fire
• Fire stays where its Shikai is at because similar to Judgement (but slightly better due to AOEs) it just gives you more ways to apply burn now with M1s and T
• You also turn people you knock into Kyoka-like zombies by using your C, Z or T moves on them
• The Bankai also comes with an improved flashstep that deals damage and a guardbreak knock up move with T that you can combo from
• The G is also decent and is great for combo extending

Wind
• Wind is pretty decent gaining two new combo potential moves and a variant move with G+C dealing massive AOE damage with the explosion
• The T move drops down a stunning tornado that you can movestack from since it lasts a while and can combo from it
• The G is a great set up for other moves like T or C so overall while not massively powerful Wind is still decent

C-Tier Bankai

C-Tier Bankai Notes

Lightning
• The Bankai allows you to basically steal mobility since your speed is increased while your M1s and Crits lower enemy move and swing speed and you also stun for longer
• The G auto tracks and guard breaks for decent damage
• The T is less reliable since it's stopped on a parry but basically you'll fire a chain lightning effect that lasts for a long time bouncing between your self and multiple people making it amazing in teamfights
• If the T didn't stop on parry/block this would be an easy B-Tier moveset or higher

Shadow
• The blind effects from Shadow are a scam since they don't really work that well in practice
• Still the T is usable since it stuns on hit
• That said, Shadow is mainly used for the G domain where your HP is saved on entry and when it ends you revert to that HP but your opponents damage stays
• As long as you don't die and manage to deal some damage to your opponent G is really good sustain
• C-Tier is perfect since it doesn't really boost the base moveset but it has G with potential to be a good move

D-Tier Bankai

D-Tier Bankai Notes

Ash
• Just like the Shikai Ash is underwhelming but not useless
• The T is a melee mini stun pillar of damage that's decent for combos
• The G is more of an ender due to the knockback but the base moves don't get imrpoved so this is quite meh

Poison
• Compared to B-Tier bankais which at least get really great moves or boost the base kit, Poison is just underwhelming
• In the re-release meta of Commons and Rares being really great Poison is underpowered which honestly seems fair for the Common lower rarity
• You can still do some decent DOT damage but the moves are just too telepgraphed, easy to dodge and easy to punish since you're standing still while doing some moves

That's it for my Type Soul Shikai and Bankai tier list and guide. Check out the best clans in Type Soul for more guides.

A glowing orange bug hive stash in fortnite

The bugs have taken over the Fortnite island, and many parts of it have strange new features you can interact with because of this. One such feature is Hive Stashes, which are strange sacs that contain loads of loot.

As you work through the quests featured in this season, you'll be asked to collect items from Hive Stashes. This is a decently tough mission to get done, so if you're having trouble solving it, here's how to collect items from Hive Stashes in Fortnite.

Collect items from Hive Stashes in Fortnite

Loot dropping from an exploding orange Hive Stash in fortnite

To complete the collect items from Hive Stashes quest, you need to retrieve 10 items from Hive Stashes. A single Hive Stash doesn't have 10 items for you to grab inside, so you'll need to break at least a few of them to get this task done.

I had to open a total of four Hive Stashes to get this quest done. Depending on your luck, it may take more or less time than that. To ensure you get it done as quickly as possible, be sure to pick up everything each Hive Stash drops, even if you don't want to keep it. You can always drop anything you don't need as soon as you've picked it up to make progress in this quest.

What are Hive Stashes in Fortnite?

Hive Stashes are large, glowing orange sacks packed with loot. Lots of small bugs spawn around them to protect the loot when you get close, so it can be pretty tricky to claim what's inside.

Where to find Hive Stashes in Fortnite

Hive Stashes can be found around specific bug-infested zones around the island, which are Queen Colonies where you can slay the Queen. To find these spots, check your map for the Queen bug icon, which looks like a massive caterpillar.

What do Hive Stashes drop in Fortnite?

All Hive Stashes drop a collection of random loot items. The dropped assets usually include a couple of weapons, some healing or shielding items, and ammo. You won't get any Mythic, Exotic, or other special weapons from inside, but you will get at least a couple of solid tools.

With this quest out of the way, you can move on to tackling other tricky missions spread across the island. Next, you may want to increase your OXR Rank, claim Capture Points, and find OXR Armories.

Illaoi is one of the eight characters that'll kickstart 2XKO when she launches in closed beta on PC on Sept. 9 and is one of the roster's more unique fighters due to her moveset and her use of tentacles on screen to land devastating blows.

I've always found the character fascinating, and a recent trip to Evo allowed me to spend time with the champion's designer, learning what drives her and the challenges of designing and developing her moveset.

Note: Portions of the interview have been edited to remove repetition and enhance the reading experience.

How did you first of all take Illaoi as a champion in League of Legends and turn that into what could be described as a good fighting game character?

Caroline "Shyvana" Montano (Champion Designer for Illaoi in 2XKO): So Illaoi in League of Legends is one of my mains. I main her on top and I love her. But what we did was we didn't want to take the gameplay directly from League of Legends. What we wanted to do was take the essence of what the character is all about, and we set up some goals and guardrails for what her kit could be in a fighting game.

And we went, "Okay, some things that are calling out to us are, should she be a puppet character? Should she be a brawler? What should she do?" And so we landed on this idea of, Oh, she's not controlling the God. The God is helping her and rewarding her for playing well. So we made it so that whenever she wants to use a tentacle, she has to earn it. So she has to go in and hit you with an S2, and then she gets a tentacle as a reward. And then she can beef up all of her combos and do all these cool things out of it. So with that kind of as a guiding light, we sort of set that as her thing.

Let's also talk about how she plays in 2XKO. It's very unique in comparison to all the other characters in there. Let's be honest, if we look at the roster as this, there is a lot of punching, a lot of shooting, but Illaoi has this whole mechanic with the tentacles that truly sets her apart from everyone else on the roster. Can you tell about can you tell us how a pain it was to develop those tentacles to work as you wanted it to?

Oh my gosh, the tentacles were probably the most complicated technological thing that I've encountered in a fighting  Grace is the engineer who kind of built the tentacles from the ground up, and she and I were going back and forth on. Should we be able to hit them? Should they go away when she gets hit? All these little details that you don't really think about when you see a puppet character on in a fighting game.

And so with Illaoi, because the God is separate from her, we wanted to keep that as the guiding light, and they're hanging out. They can get hit, and then they go away, and that means there's counterplay. With the tentacle being independent, they will go away if Illaoi gets counter-hit. So, yeah, the tentacles are a real, real, really challenging part of developing Illaoi.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G_8T0ld3xs

Let's also talk about the gameplay for a second here. Was there anything else that you looked at when designing the character that you kind of thought this had to be included because it's unique to her personality or a play style?

Yeah, so the way that we think about allowing is she's kind of a personal trainer that's also, kind of tough love,  she's encouraging you to be the best version of yourself. And so we had this idea of keeping everyone in motion. She has all those lines [in League like] in motion. So, we were thinking that everything she does should encourage the opponent to move. And so we gave her a command grab on her tentacles so that they're a distance away from her. And whenever she uses a grab and there's a tentacle out, then the tentacle will grab them and spit them out, and she can do more combos.

The main thing about allowing Illaoi's unique self, aside from the God, is that she is the one that we're trying to highlight as the cool, heroic, very strong being.

Equally, I want to talk about making a character this fighting game. There are a lot of things a lot of people don't think about, the balancing issues, the stuff that comes with future character releases, making them well-balanced characters. Were there any issues, other than obviously, the tentacles that you had difficulty with when actually designing her as a well-rounded fighter that didn't feel overpowered, but equally, didn't feel completely weak and useless?

Yeah. So for sure... How strong should she be? And I think we land in a pretty, exciting place where she's not op. Before, what was happening was, for example, her charge forward as to where she summons a tentacle. It used to pop people up in Alpha Lab One. And that enabled too many good combos. And she was pretty top tier during that time. But now we've balanced it out. Her weakness before was neutral, and now we added in a charged crowd test to track the opponent, so that she could still be viable from full screen, because before, she didn't have anything full screen.

So I mean, I guess in general, balance-wise, we want all of our champions to have play—counterplay and something that makes them exciting to play and main for a lifetime. But we also don't want anyone to stand out as, "Oh, this has to be a part of your team." Or you're failing.

Final question, after working with Illaoi as long as you have and balancing her, which champion from the League roster would you work on next, and why and how would you go about doing it?

I mean, I would love to work... well, honestly, I would have loved to work on Vi because Vi is who I main in the jungle. So, but I guess because I don't want to give away too much information, I am working on some exciting channels and...

Can't tell me a little thing about it, not even a little hint!?

Unfortunately, no, but it's very exciting for me personally.

A bunch of characters battling bugs in Fortnite

Fortnite Chapter Six, season four has a new map, and you can find different NPCs across the various regions. Like in previous seasons, some of these NPCs will offer him valuable services, while the rest of them can be hired to fight by your side.

To unlock these characters' offerings, you have to manually visit their locations on the map and interact with them first. Tracking them down can be fairly tricky, so here are all NPC locations in Fortnite Chapter Six, season four.

Grounded 2 scorpion

Praying Mantis Nymphs are one of the toughest bugs to find in Grounded 2, so the job gets easier when you know where to look.

The Praying Mantis has two versions available in the current version of the game. We have our Nymphs, which are a tier-III enemy you can find in Brookhollow Park. Then there's the Mantis boss, who is a huge hurdle (still gives me the creeps). Let's take a look at where exactly you can spot a Praying Mantis Nymph on your adventures.

Grounded 2 Praying Mantis Nymph locations

As a tier-III creature, Praying Mantis Nymphs aren't very common. However, they have multiple spawn zones where you can try your luck.

  • South of the garbage can, near the park entrance at the bottom area of the map.
  • The northeast corner of the Ceremony region is located in the western part of the Statue. This area is easy to find if you're trying to access the Network Center.
  • In the middle of the Snackbar Front area, to the west of Headless BURG.L.
  • Another reported area is the region south of the Statue. I have marked the spot, but didn't find any spawn at the location.

Ultimately, having a Praying Mantis Nymph spawn depends entirely on your luck. They're elusive creatures, and being at the correct spots doesn't automatically guarantee you a spawn. However, the task gets simpler if you manage to defeat and loot at least one Nymph. You can then use a Resource Finder to track all loot from Praying Mantis Nymphs, which reveals their positions.

How do you defeat Praying Mantis Nymph in Grounded 2?

Praying Mantis Nymphs offer some of the highest amounts of resistance you can expect from a bug in Grounded 2. They don't go down easily, have a dangerous kit in terms of potential damage, and can eliminate you quite easily. The first task is to take note of its potential weakness and resistance.

  • Resistance: Stabbing, Smashing, Spicy
  • Weakness: Slashing, Fresh
  • Weak Points: Eyes. You can stab them, and they're also the easiest areas to target if you know what you're doing.

You have to look out for the Nymph's jump attacks that can eat away a chunk of your health. After taking damage, it will vanish and reappear, so look out for that trick. My preferred weapon against Nymphs has always been melee tools that inflict Slashing. Using it to target the eye can be extremely useful, to say the least.

You could also try ranged weapons, but they take way too long for me to like. If you manage to eliminate a Nymph, you'll get its claw, chunk, and head. These items can be used to create the Mantis Blade, which is a powerful double-handed weapon. The item requires you to use Praying Mantis Claws, Praying Mantis Chunks, and Lingonberry Leather.

Invisible Woman putting up a shield in an OXR Armory in Fortnite

There's a deadly legion of bugs attempting to seize control of the Fortnite island, so you need all the loot you can get to try and stop them. A great place to stock up on powerful items is OXR Armories, which you also need to visit to finish certain quests.

Since the pesky bugs are plaguing the island, there aren't many armories to find, so unless you know where to look, you'll likely have a tough time finding them. If you're struggling to find these special locations, here's how to find OXR Armories in Fortnite.

All OXR Armories locations in Fortnite

OXR Armories marked on map in Fortnite

There are two OXR Armories you can visit around the island in Fortnite. One is situated near the far north end of Canyon Crossing, while the other is near the eastern edge of OXR HQ. Both of these locations are marked with a white shop icon on the map, making them fairly easy to track once you know what you're looking for.

If you played during Chapter Six, season two, when there were Black Markets around the island, you already have a solid understanding of how these shops work. They're essentially small hidden stores you can visit to purchase a variety of loot.

What do OXR Armories sell in Fortnite?

OXR Armories sell a wide array of loot, including weapons, health items, utility items, and more. Here's a breakdown of everything you may find for sale when visiting one.

  • High-quality weapons, including Legendary ones.
  • Med Kits.
  • Shield Potions.
  • Jump Pads.
  • Med-Mist.

All items available at OXR Armories cost gold bars, so you can only acquire them if you have the funds to do so. The price of all items varies depending on how powerful the item you're trying to buy is. Legendary weapons, for example, are extremely costly, while items like Med Kits and Med-Mist are much more affordable.

OXR Armories don't have the best loot you can find around the island overall, but if you're not having much like finding useful items through exploration, visiting one is a great way to ensure you get at least one or two solid weapons. Make sure you have lots of gold bars ready to spend, though.

Now that you have some powerful loot to back you up, you might be ready to slay the Queen. Some other missions worth tackling after this are increasing your OXR Rank and claiming Capture Points.
