I don't hate the hardcore FPS game, Escape from Tarkov, but I hate how difficult it is to get into it. It's brutal and unwavering in its military-sim approach and can be challenging for even the most determined fans of the genre. There's a new AMD gaming CPU with 3D V-cache in town, and it's just been benchmarked. The AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D, which AMD silently launched in Latin America only a few months ago, features six cores and the same additional L3 cache as its bigger siblings, but its performance potential wasn't clear until now.

With AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D stock now spent, the 5500X3D is one of the few X3D Socket AM4 CPUs that you can still buy. With its aging architecture, fewer cores than the 5700X3D, and low clock speeds, the 5500X3D isn't likely to top our best gaming CPU guide, but all that extra 3D V-cache will still make this AMD chip a formidable option for gaming compared to non-X3D alternatives in older machines.

Fire Emblem-like Dark Deity 2 Switch Version Debuts in September

Sword and Axe announced that its Fire Emblem style strategy game Dark Deity 2 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch within the next month. The game will debut on September 4, 2025, and it will cost $24.99. (That's the same price as the PC release on Steam.) However, a launch sale is in effect immediately, which brings the price down to $19.99 until September 26, 2025.

Dark Deity 2 is a continuation of the original, unlike the Fire Emblem series that tends to tell a different story in a different world with each installment. Players follow siblings Gwyn and Riordian as they lead the Eternal Delegation against the Asverellian Empire. The goal is to ensure every region stands tall and the empire doesn't conquer the whole continent. Who you decide to support or fight will determine your allies and enemies. There is also replay value, as there is a randomizer built into it.

There's also a Switch Dark Deity 2 trailer that shows what the strategy game looks like, which also allows us to see how it compares to Fire Emblem

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rPsCK7lotM

Indie.io is handling publishing for the game. As a reminder, it also did so for the first installment. That showed up on the Switch back in March 2022. It also handled the Suns Out, Swords Out DLC about a year later in February 2023.

Dark Deity 2 will come to the Nintendo Switch on September 4, 2025, and the game is already available on the PC.

Fallout Season 2 Heads to Amazon Prime in December

The release window for season 2 of the Fallout TV series is pinned down, as Amazon confirmed the New Vegas show will start streaming for Prime subscribers in December 2025. The Game Awards social media account also confirmed it will be one of the announcements at the gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, which takes place at 11am PT/2pm ET/8pm CET on August 19, 2025. There's also a teaser poster hinting and what we can expect from this season.

The poster shows the four major characters who will feature prominently in season 2 of Fallout. On the far left is Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell). Next to her is The Ghoul Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins). Dogmeat is next to him. Finally, on the far right is Maximus (Aaron Moten). All four featured prominently in the first season, which consisted of eight episodes. However, due to the nature of the story, they weren't always traveling together as a group.

That key art also shows the major location for the second season, which is New Vegas. After the events of season 1, we know that both Lucy and The Ghoul would be traveling together, as both of their goals align with heading to Nevada and searching out the people behind Vault-Tec. However, Maximus wasn't with them when this decision happened, so it's uncertain if he'll join up with the duo and dog later.

Here's the official art:

Fallout season 2 will begin streaming on Amazon Prime in December 2025, and the first season of the TV series is already available on the service.

Capcom Presents Panel Will Be at New York Comic Con 2025

We'll learn more about upcoming Capcom games after both gamescom in August 2025 and Tokyo Game Show in September 2025, as there will be a Capcom Presents at the New York Comic Con on October 10, 2025. The panel will be held at 3:45pm ET, and it is unknown if it will be streaming anywhere. [Thanks, Entertainment Weekly!]

Exact details about the showcase aren't available just yet. We only know two things. One is that the New York Comic Con 2025 Capcom Presents will go over new games. The other is that it will last for 90 minutes. This is longer than most of the company's showcases. For example, the Capcom Spotlight on June 26, 2025 lasted just over 40 minutes.

While the announcement didn't mention any specific titles in the description, there are a few we could see come up at this panel. The company is continuing to release free Title Updates for Monster Hunter Wilds, and there could be details for the ones appearing after September 2025. It could be an opportunity for Street Fighter 6 DLC details. New information for a number of 2026 games could also come up, like Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Pragmata, and Resident Evil Requiem.

Umamusume Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross Figures Debut in November

Bandai Namco announced its Banpresto Evolve line will get two Umamusume: Cinderella Gray figures based on the new anime adaptation leads Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross. Both of them will debut in Japan in November 2025. They will appear as crane game prizes. While neither are showing in US storefronts yet, Crunchyroll does regularly sell ones in that line, like the Gundam 45th x Hatsune Miku figure that costs $29.99 there

Each of these two Umamusume: Cinderella Gray figures is about eight inches tall, though Tamamo Cross (21cm) is slightly taller than Oguri Cap (20cm). Each one is a static figure. They're each posed mid-run, as they're about to unleash their full power to speed down the track. Both are wearing their standard costumes from the series. Some of the effect parts on them are translucent.

Here's a closer look at how both look:

While Tamamo Cross isn't available in the global version of the game yet, Oguri Cap is. She's been present since launch. She's also one of the best Dirt race characters in the game. However, recent addition Smart Falcon gives her a run for her money.

As these are designed to be crane game prizes, we don't know what the price will be when they appear outside Japan yet. When Crunchyroll sells entries in that line, they typically cost between $24.99 and $34.99.

The Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross Banpresto Evolve figures will debut in Japan in November 2025, and the anime is streaming on Amazon worldwide. The Umamusume: Pretty Derby game is available on both PCs and mobile devices.

PEAK Shore level

There are ways to take your PEAK playthrough beyond just climbing up a few mountains and logging off. If you're looking for a challenge, you can set off on a mission to collect every badge, unlock every difficulty level, and more.

Thanks to the Mesa update, there are more badges to unlock.

All PEAK achievements

PEAK features over 40 badges you can collect across multiple runs. While some require reaching the end, others span across several playthroughs. You'll even find a mix of multiplayer and singleplayer challenges to tackle. Here's a complete list of PEAK's badges and how to obtain them.

Badge Description How to unlock
Beachcomber Badge Climb past the SHORE. Climb to the top of SHORE's mountain and activate its campfire. You can reduce the difficulty of Tenderfoot to make this and subsequent badges easier to earn.
Trailblazer Badge Climb past the TROPICS. Climb to the top of the TROPICs mountain and activate its campfire.
Alpinist Badge Climb past the ALPINE. Climb to the top of ALPINE's mountain and activate its campfire.
Volcanology Badge Climb past the CALDERA. Climb across CALDERA's landscape and activate its campfire.
Peak Badge Reach the PEAK. Reach the end of PEAK's final level.
As of Patch v1.8, you can no longer cheese this by dying before reaching the end. You now need to be alive during the finale for this to count.
Esoterica Badge Obtain a mystical item. Find any of PEAK's mystical items by searching through luggage bags or Ancient Statues at the end of each level. Using an Ancient Statue with an eliminated player in your group will revive them instead of giving you an item.
Happy Camper Badge Receive five Morale Boosts from campfires. Interact with five campfires while playing in a multiplayer match. You'll need five campfires across at least two runs.
First Aid Badge Heal your friends for 100 points of injury in a single expedition. You can heal other players using Medkits or bandages.
High Altitude Badge Climb 5000m total. Continue playing through PEAK until you've climbed a total of 5,000 meters. You can complete this across multiple runs.
Plunderer Badge Open 15 luggages in a single expedition. Open every single luggage bag you encounter across each level. You need to accomplish this in a single run.
Emergency Preparedness Badge Heal an unconscious friend with an item to save them from death. If your friend is injured, use a Medkit. Otherwise, you can use items like Cure-All if they're affected by status effects.
Arborist Badge Reach the top of a really big tree. Reach the TROPICS level and climb any of the large trees you find throughout your run.
Foraging Badge Eat five different berries in a single expedition. Every level has several berry types you can consume, including poisonous variants that'll damage you but otherwise count toward this badge.
Participation Badge Have a friend escape the island without you. Have your character die and turn into a ghost before your run ends. From here, you just need a friend to reach the final level's peak and escape.
Clutch Badge Resurrect three scouts in a single expedition. You can only do this by visiting Ancient Statues at the tops of each level. You can use multiple statues across several levels, but must complete this within one full run.
Endurance Badge Climb 50m upwards without touching the ground. Use consumables like Big Lollipops or energy drinks to raise your stamina and movement speed. From here, you need to climb up a wall without touching any flat surfaces. You can also use pitons, vines, or chains.
Cooking Badge Cook 20 meals at campfires. Bring any item to campfires, ideally food, and cook it. Continue this process until you cook 20 total items.
Survivalist Badge Escape the island without ever losing consciousness. Complete a run without succumbing to any status effects or taking too much fall damage.
Animal Serenading Badge Play the bugle for a capybara. You'll find a bugle at the plane's crash site when you begin SHORE. Bring the bugle with you to ALPINE before searching for a hot spring containing several capybaras. You can also use the Bugle of Friendship or Scoutmaster's Bugle if you have them.
Bing Bong Badge Help Bing Bong escape the island. You'll find Bing Bong at the plane's crash site when you begin SHORE. Bring Bing Bong to the end and escape the island with the plushie still on your person.
Toxicology Badge Restore 200 total poison by using items. Use Antidotes, Medkits, and Cure-All to heal status effects. You'll find poisonous jellyfish and plants within SHORE, while TROPICS has multiple poisonous plants and consumable items.
Mentorship Badge Have a 1-on-1 with the Scoutmaster. The easiest way to do this is to play in multiplayer and have one person reach the level's peak while another stays at the bottom. Only the host will earn the achievement through this method, though. In singleplayer, you can use the Scoutmaster's Bugle to summon the Scoutmaster.
Bouldering Badge Place 10 pitons. You'll find pitons inside luggage bags. Obtain some and place them on any wall. You can complete this across multiple runs.
Lone Wolf Badge Escape the island in a solo expedition. Complete the final level in a solo playthrough without other players.
Speed Climber Badge Escape the island in under an hour. Spend time learning a day's map, its most optimal routes, and ways to utilize certain items to make traversal easier. Maps reset daily, giving you only one day to learn before having to start from scratch with a new layout. This can also depend on luck with what items you get from luggage bags and Ancient Statues.
Mycology Badge Eat four different non-toxic mushrooms in a single expedition. Mushrooms spawn in the SHORE and TROPICS. There are seven variants, with four being non-toxic and three being poisonous. You can find out their differences through your in-game guidebook or our breakdown of which PEAK mushrooms are poisonous. A friend can also feed them to you if you're out of inventory space and want to save some time.
Balloon Badge Escape the island without taking fall damage. Be very careful as you travel around each level to avoid accidentally falling off ledges. Tenderfoot is much more forgiving with fall damage, making this achievement much easier.
Naturalist Badge Escape the island without eating any packaged food. Only eat foraged goods like berries, mushrooms, honeycombs, and eggs. You can also eat marshmallows you find at campfires.
Gourmand Badge Escape the island after cooking and eating a coconut half, a honeycomb, a yellow winterberry, and an egg. You can find coconuts in the SHORE and TROPICS and honeycomb in the TROPICS. Yellow Winterberries spawn in ALPINE, while eggs appear in CALDERA. A friend can also feed you these items.
Prior to Patch v1.8, a bug allowed you to eat them as is and still receive credit. Aggro Crab and Landfall have since resolved this, and you're now required to cook the items before consuming them.
Leave No Trace Badge Escape the island without placing anything on the mountain. Don't place any pitons, ropes, or chains as you progress through each level. If you're in multiplayer, everyone has to abide by this for you to receive the badge.
Knot Tying Badge Place 100m of rope in a single expedition. Loot luggage bags and take any spool of rope, including rope cannons, you find. Use them in their entirety until you place 100 meters total.
Bookworm Badge Read all of Scoutmaster Myre's journal entries. Myre's journal entries spawn at campfires. Inspect each entry, repeating this for each campfire. You'll need to do this across multiple runs, but you can end an attempt after reading CALDERA's entry to save time.
As of Patch v1.8, Scrolls now appear in chronological order regardless of where you are on the mountain, making this badge much easier to obtain. They also have a chance to appear each time you play, letting you search for them repeatedly, even if you're doing so on the same map.
Aeronautics Badge Achieve flight. Equip six Balloons at the same time.
Astronomy Badge Look a little too closely at the blazing sun. Use the Binoculars to look directly into the sun in the MESA biome.
Cool Cucumber Badge Climb over the MESA without ever having over 10% HEAT. Reach MESA's Campfire without taking 10% HEAT. You can do this by moving only during the night, using areas with shade, and take help of items like the Sunscreen.
Daredevil Badge Shoot across the MESA canyon in a Scout Cannon. Use the Scout Cannon to fire your teammate over the canyon at the foot of the MESA's central plateau.
Megaentomology Badge Survive an Antlion attack. Enter an Antlion pit, let yourself get bitten once, then have a friend pull you to safety. If you're playing solo, use a rope to set up your escape route.
Needlepoint Badge Have a lot of cactuses stuck to you. Let five of the MESA's small cactuses get stuck on you, then pull them off.
Nomad Badge Climb past the MESA. Reach Campfire at the top of the MESA for the first time.
Resourcefulness Badge Give into your hunger. Wait until your hunger drops below 60%, then press "E" on another player to activate cannibalism.
24 Karat Badge Offer the Kiln a worthy sacrifice. Take the Golden Idol from the TOMB area and throw it into the lava.
Ultimate Badge Catch a Flying Disk from 100m away. Grab the Flying Disk on the SHORE, climb to a height, and toss it down to another player stationed at the starting area. If you're playing alone, grab the disk from the ground to complete the badge.

Mario Kart World racers dabbing

Mario Kart World has some exciting news in store for fans, but sadly, it's not the free DLC that many have been hoping for.

Earlier on Aug. 14, the Japanese X handle for Nintendo announced a new event that will allow you to race in 150cc races and try to establish yourself as one of the top 100 racers in the world. While the original post is in Japanese, OatmealDome has kindly translated the post for the English-speaking world.

Mario Kart World's Summer Vacation Skill event will test your skills

The event, as of writing, seems to be meant for Mario Kart World players in Japan. It goes live on Aug. 23 and will be hosted between 3am and 10am CT. While we are about a week away from the event, you can already put in the practice.

https://twitter.com/Nintendo/status/1955877485826232766

You'll notice the new "Search for an Event" feature if you have updated your Mario Kart World client. Press the "-" symbol in the online menu, where you can enter the code ID 2378 for the practice race.

The official leaderboards are only meant for the Japanese player base. Irrespective of how you perform on the track, your results won't be considered unless you're located in Japan.

https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:tf7tjgkrqwai2kbxpx2dbr6k/post/3lwedpxthgi2s?ref_src=embed&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.nintendolife.com%252Fnews%252F2025%252F08%252Fmario-kart-world-announces-summer-vacation-skill-test-event

Players who manage to make it to the top 100 on the leaderboard, along with the winner, will be featured on Nintendo's website. As of writing, the race has been announced only on the Japanese handle. I believe that the race will eventually have a global variant for the Western audience. As for the DLC, the wait goes on.

Hobgen, an underlord in Dota Underlords.

Dead games keep pulling me in. I refuse to bury extremely popular games from just a few years ago, and that's why I don't want to let Dota Underlords go.

Remember Auto Chess?

This Valve game, inspired by the Dota Auto Chess mod that released in January 2019, was popular for a year or two, when everything everyone could think about was autobattlers.

These games let you draft units, place them on a board, and build synergies between them via their classes, origins, or whatever their traits are called. Heroes battle automatically. You increase their power by getting duplicates as they're randomly offered to you from a pool shared between all eight players in a match. Items you get every few rounds also make heroes stronger, but that's about all you can do to increase your chances of winning. It's a strategy game where you do the planning but let units fight as scripted.

Dota Underlords came out in June 2019, a few days before League of Legends' take with Teamfight Tactics and two months after the original Dota Auto Chess became a standalone game with generic characters in Auto Chess. Other companies' attempts to make autobattlers failed, like Tencent's Chess Rush.

A Dota Underlords board with units in combat.
Maybe Dota Underlords doesn't need an update. Screenshot by Destructoid

You could say Dota Underlords has also failed. The game went from 111,000 concurrent players in July 2019 to less than 15,000 in December. Valve hasn't updated the game since November 2020. No new content, no balance patches, no stability updates or fixes. It's even too generous to say that Valve put the game in maintenance mode, because that would mean they are at least doing something to keep the game healthy over time, like Blizzard is doing with Heroes of the Storm. But this is not the case. Dota Underlords has been abandoned.

Why do they keep going?

Still, for some reason, over 1,000 players are in Dota Underlords on Steam at all times, not counting mobile players. So, what happened here? Why are people still playing a game that Valve discarded and probably just kept afloat because they already have the servers to keep the game running?

My main guess, returning to the game in 2025, is that being abandoned ironically turned into an advantage. Dota Underlords has been the same for years, which means it's a stress-free experience. Unlike Teamfight Tactics, which is the only big autobattler game that survived the 2019 hype, Dota Underlords has been the same for almost five years. There is no pressure to complete a time-limited battle pass or buy cosmetics that will be gone soon. Units are always the same, and no balance patches or rotations change them every few months like in TFT.

Once you learn Dota Underlords and its strategies, you can master the smallest details to get an edge, and that's the fun part. Any knowledge you have gained in the last four years is still valid. This abandonment (or stability?) is what allows players to spend more time learning about each unit, developing new synergies, and becoming good at the game.

I don't think Dota fans are keeping Underlords alive because this gameplay has nothing to do with the MOBA. Returning to Underlords as a non-Dota player, I see that some units that were overpowered when I stopped playing, like Kunkka and Tidehunter, are still just as strong. It feels familiar. I don't have to relearn the game, and I like knowing I can stop playing and return in six months to find the same game.

Dota Underlords is an example that online games don't have to be live service. You don't need new content to keep a game afloat if you're a big company, though I have no idea how much profit Valve makes from this title.

However, I only recommend playing Dota Underlords today if you want a game that will never change. If you want something current with dedicated development, then play Teamfight Tactics.

Jefferson doing a griddy in Madden 26

Madden 26 offers plenty of different abilities for players to use, but their effectiveness will be based on their positions.

Every position has multiple abilities, which is excellent. From X-Factor to Superstar variants, there are many strong options to consider. Let's take a quick look at the best ones, sorted by the different positions.

Best Madden 26 abilities for all positions

While X-Factor abilities are better in terms of their in-game impact, the Superstar abilities have more practical use. More NFL athletes have them in the game, so you'll be able to use them more inside the game.

Position Best Ability
QB Bazooka/Truzz - Bazooka is great for any QB as it increases the max distance of their throws. Can be extremely useful if you have fast WRs. Truzz is great for beginners as it avoids a fumble in case the QB gets tackled. You can ignore this if you're experienced with the game.
RB Truzz - Avoids a fumble in case the RB gets tackled, which is going to happen more at higher difficulties.
WR Yac 'Em Up/ Double Me - Yac 'Em Up is the best choice when going up against double coverage. Otherwise, Double Me is hands down the best option for a wide receiver. It's far more flexible and has more use-case scenarios.
TE Yac 'Em Up - It pretty much guarantees success against double coverage.
OL All-Day - Reduces chances of successful shed attempts from your opposite DL.
DL Unstoppable Force - Unstoppable Force is great for faster block shedding attempts.
LB Zone Hawk/Avalanche - Zone Hawk raises the frequencies of interceptions inside the zone. Avalanche is amazing if you can time your hit-sticks; a successful one will always result in a fumble. Given how hit-sticks have received an improvement, Avalanche is a slightly better choice than Zone Hawk.
CB Shutdown - Contest catches will have increased chances of interceptions under tighter coverage.
S Reinforcement - Better chances to defeat run blocks and also disrupt catches

While the abilities mentioned in the table are pretty much the best choices for their respective positions, make sure to go through the complete list of all available options. The effectiveness of any ability always boils down to how you like to play the game, so pay attention to that factor as well.

A scene in Powerwash Simulator 2 where a player is washing items

My ambitions of getting high by washing different objects on a monitor have got a new push with the price confirmation of PowerWash Simulator 2. While I am delighted to learn the game's cost, a key piece of information is still eagerly awaited by the community.

PowerWash Sim 2's pricing seems to be on point, but the release date is a mystery

Aug. 14's briefing revealed that PowerWash Simulator 2 will be available on all platforms at $24.99/£19.99. There will be regional pricing as well, resulting in a lower price for those in developing economies. For that price, there's plenty on offer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A9wbwsmsA0

The standalone sequel will have a 38-level career mode along with a host of new features.

  • split-screen co-op
  • 4-player online campaign
  • Better visuals
  • New traversal mechanics
  • More equipment
  • customizable home base
  • pettable cats.

What's incredible is FuturLab's acknowledgement of the rising costs of living and how expensive video games are becoming in general. The developers want PowerWash Simulator 2 to continue along the lines of the first game, which includes keeping the price the same.

The developers highly appreciate the feedback and reception of the original PowerWash Simulator and how it managed to win over fans. You can expect plenty of post-launch content, including licensed items 2026. While all of these sound quite promising, an exact release date is yet to be announced: All we have got is a potential launch window in late 2025.

The game is currently being developed for players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

A black and brown dog in a bed by a bookshop in tiny bookshop

There are many secrets waiting to be uncovered around the various locations you can set up shop in Tiny Bookshop. One of these secrets is a stray dog you can feed to unlock as a permanent companion who grants useful bonuses to your shop.

Finding the dog is easy enough, as they're hanging out near the right end of The Waterfront area, but acquiring food for them is a lot trickier. The Feed the Stray quest is one of the toughest ones you'll face, so if you're stumped on what to give them, here's how to feed the dog in Tiny Bookshop.

Feed the Stray quest walkthrough in Tiny Bookshop

Unlocking stray dog in tiny bookshop
Screenshot by Destructoid

To complete the Feed the Stray quest, you need to feed the dog at The Waterfront the correct food item. Although you'll come across plenty of items you can buy around the world, only one will satisfy the dog and unlock them as a loyal companion. There are also a few requirements you have to meet before this quest will be unlocked, so here's a full breakdown of what you need to get done.

  • Visit The Waterfront.
  • Find the dog by scrolling to the far right edge of the screen.
  • Interact with the dog.
  • Scroll over to the left edge of this area to find Walt.
  • Interact with Walt.
  • Continue to visit The Waterfront and talk with Walt until he invites you to the Fish Market.
  • Attend the Fish Market.
  • Purchase a Raw Fish.
  • Feed the stray dog.

The key part of this quest is getting to know Walt better so he'll invite you to the market and allow you to purchase items from his special shop. Just keep talking to him and working through any tasks he gives you until you manage to acquire the food item you need.

What do you feed the dog in Tiny Bookshop?

While you might be tempted to search for dog food or a bone out in the world of Bookstonbury, you actually need to feed the stray dog a Raw Fish. This item can be purchased from Walt at The Waterfront for 12 coins.

His shop's stock changes each day with three random items for sale, so it might take a while for this item to be available. Be sure to check his shop by talking to him every time you visit this location, so you can unlock it once it becomes available in the store. It should always be available during the Fish Market, so this is the best time to check for it, but it's also obtainable outside of it.

Unlock the dog in Tiny Bookshop

Once you have the Raw Fish in your inventory, head back to The Waterfront to find the dog. Interact with them and select the "Yes buddy, this is for you!" option when the dialogue says that the dog starts "intently eyeing the fish."

Next, select the "Yes" option when the dialogue asking if you would like to adopt the stray pops up. After this, the dog becomes yours, and you can place them down anywhere you like around your small bookstore.

The dog has a few special effects if you have them placed near your small store, including:

  • Gain two extra coins when successfully recommending a book.
  • Daily expenses increased by three coins.
  • The animal, warm, standing, calming, and large shop tags.

Hyland Mansion in Schedule 1

The Hyland Mansion is a new location to expand your business in Schedule 1, but you can't just outright acquire the place.

Unlike other places of business, you'll first have to complete a quest to acquire it. This refers to the Benzies storyline, which also marks the introduction of the cartel system in the game. The cartel, quite obviously, lives in the Hyland Mansion, which is an offbeat place. In fact, finding it can be a difficult task on its own, but you're given its location as part of the storyline.

Disclaimer: Currently, the Hyland Mansion is only available in Schedule 1's beta branch.

Schedule 1 Hyland Mansion

The Hyland Mansion is located on the eastern edge of the map, near a street of common houses. Some of these houses now have residents following v0.4.0 update, but you're concerned about the private property shown at my position in the screenshot below.

When you arrive at the location for the first time, you'll find that the gate is locked, which prevents you from entering the place. To gain access, you'll have to start the Benzies storyline and choose to go to war against him. Uncle Benji will guide you on how to gain access to the Mansion in order to take the cartel down.

Hyland Mansion location in Schedule 1
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once you complete the Benzies storyline, the Hyland Mansion becomes available for acquisition.

How to purchase the Hyland Mansion in Schedule 1

This part is bugged for me as of writing, which is expected given we are still in the beta. Based on what I found, the building is available for purchase from Ray's Realty. You can purchase different real estate and business locations from Ray in exchange for cash. Of course, he doesn't accept cash, which means that you'll need to use places like the Taco Tickler to whitewash black money.

Additionally, completing the storyline will also reduce the cartel influence in your save. You can reduce it further with the help of a few easy steps. Doing so will help you to unlock new regions and make your trade flourish at the cost of the cartel.
