Unfortunately, we are here yet again with another games studio that will seemingly be closing its doors for good. A couple of years ago, Greg Street, known for his work on World of Warcraft and League of Legends, set up Fantastic Pixel Castle. There, it was announced at the time, he would lead development on an MMO codenamed Ghost, with NetEase serving as publisher. Except in a LinkedIn post earlier today, Street shared that Fantastic Pixel Castle will be shutting down.

Friendslop games may come and go, but the (for all intents and purposes) progenitor of them all, Lethal Company is still the one I think of most. It's scary, it's funny, it's otherworldly, literally, there's so much mystery to it that you just want to spend time in its world. But while it will likely go down as solo dev Zeekerss' most notable work, he did just release a brand new horror game 10 years in the making. And in a recent interview, he spoke of how he got his start in horror, and the roots that make up his latest work.

The Stop Killing Games campaign's petition to the UK government urging action against publishers rendering online games unplayable when servers are switched off has been debated in parliament.

The petition, which amassed just under 190,000 signatures prior to its closure in July, received a response from the UK government back in February, when it hit 10,000. "There are no plans to amend UK consumer law on disabling video games," this reply read. "Those selling games must comply with existing requirements in consumer law and we will continue to monitor this issue." As is the process, once it hit 100,000 signatures, it was eligible to be debated by parliament's petitions committee.

Last month, Heart Machine announced that they would be ending development on their roguelike follow-up to the seminal indie RPG Hyper Light Drifter, Hyper Light Breaker. As a result, as is far too common in the industry these days, a number of staff were laid off - including a writer on the yet-to-be released Possessor(s). As a result, a post cropped up on the Possessor(s)'s discussions page on Steam with some expressing discomfort at the idea of buying the game post-layoffs, prompting the game's narrative director to explain why he (understandably) would still like it if you bought it.

The Sims is in an odd place right now. In September, it was announced that the game's publisher EA had been sold to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, equity firm Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners. This unsurprisingly was met with concern from Simmers, particularly in relation to the series' generally pro-diversity stance, and whether or not it will retain that in the future. And in a recent interview with art director of the original Sims and a lead designer on The Sims 2, Charles London, the developer shared why he felt it was "incredibly important" the games include same sex partnerships.

Zenless Zone Zero Jane Doe and Tsukishiro Yanagi Figures Arrive in 2026

Two Apex Toys Zenless Zone Zero figures got assigned 2026 launch windows, with the LIMEPIE Tsukishiro Yanagi Rest Awhile arriving in August 2026 and Jane Doe one in November 2026. The Yanagi one is 6,600円 (~$43), while the Jane Doe one will be 22,440円 (~$145). Tokyo Figure, which offers worldwide shipping via Worldshipping, and AmiAmi are both taking pre-orders for them. This comes after unpainted prototypes of both appeared at 2025 WF Shanghai.

The LIMEPIE Tsukishiro Yanagi Rest Awhile figure is the cheaper of the two. It is a 1/8 size figure that is under 9 inches tall (22.5 cm). It's showing the Section 6 Deputy Chief as she's just getting off of work. Her employee ID is on a lanyard around her neck, she has her bag over her right shoulder, and her blazer is over her left arm. It is a static figure with no extra parts.

Here's how that looks:

The Zenless Zone Zero Jane figure is a 1/7 scale one that stands at almost a foot tall (29.8 cm). Like the Yanagi one, it doesn't include any pieces for additional posing options. It shows the S-rank Criminal Investigation Special Response Team Agent in her standard outfit. She also is wielding her two knives in each of her hands. At AmiAmi, it also comes with an acrylic keychain as a bonus.

This is what that figure will look like when it launches.

The Zenless Zone Zero LIMEPIE Tsukishiro Yanagi Rest Awhile figure from Apex Toys will debut in August 2026, followed by the Jane Doe one in November 2026. The game is available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices.

Fighting EX Layer Now Under $1 on PS4, PC

Arika celebrated its 30th anniversary on October 31, 2025, and as a result its PS4 and PC fighting game Fighting EX Layer got a new price. It now costs $0.99 on both the PlayStation Store and Steam. This drop comes seven years after its release in November 2018. [Thanks, Denfamico Gamer and Resetera!]

This is a 2.5D fighter featuring Fighting Layer and Street Fighter EX characters. You get access to 17 people for $0.99, including ones added post-launch like Area, Pullum Purna, Sharon, and Volcano Rosso. Classic and Progressive input options are available, with the latter being designed for newcomers, and there are single and multiplayer options like Arcade, Versus, and Expert Mode.

Fighting EX Layer was supported by Arika for quite some time after launch. This included additional features like The King of Fighters and Fatal Fury character Terry Bogard appearing as DLC in 2019 and rollback netcode debuting in 2020. The version that costs you under $1 doesn't include Terry, as that add-on costs $4.99. All other DLC for the game involves optional cosmetic color options for existing fighters.

Note that this only applies to the PS4 and PC versions of Fighting EX Layer. The Switch release Fighting EX Layer Another Dash doesn't qualify. There is a limited free version, but that full version costs $24.99.

Fighting EX Layer is available for the PS4 and PC, and the price is now $0.99 worldwide.

Sanrio 2026 Japanese Zodiac Animal Items Dress Characters as Horses year of the horse zodiac

Sanrio announced that Asunarosya is now selling 2026 Japanese zodiac animal merchandise featuring its characters dressed as horses, as next year is the year of the horse. Keychains and stickers of multiple mascots will appear. The company does ship worldwide via Buyee and WorldShopping, so the items are available everywhere.

There are four of each type of item in the Sanrio 2026 Japanese zodiac year of the horse character collection. The stickers are 550円 (~$3.60) each, while the keychains are 770円 (~$5). In both situations there is one item that has an ema wooden plaque design with seven characters on it. Those feature Cinnamoroll, Hangyodon, Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Pochacco, and Pompompurin. The other three each highlight one specific mascot dressed as a horse, with Cinnamoroll, Hello Kitty, and Kuromi as the options.

Here are the two official images that show the keychains and stickers, as well as official art for the collection.

It is incredibly common for holiday-themed Sanrio merchandise to appear. In 2024, we saw a lot of Cinnamoroll Colorful Christmas items. Tons of Halloween items appeared in 2025, with some being standard merchandise and others being yokai figures.

The 2026 year of the horse Sanrio merchandise featuring seven characters dressed as zodiac horses is available in Japan now, with Asunarosya offering worldwide shipping.

Dragon Quest AM Alchemy Pot Is a Microwave Ramen Maker

Taito and Square Enix announced a new Dragon Quest prize in Japan, and it is an AM Alchemy Pot that someone can use to microwave instant ramen. It will be released as a prize in late November 2025. There's no word on a price yet, and no retailers online are showing it as possibly being available to ship worldwide as of time fo writing.

This microwave ramen maker version of the Alchemy Pot is based on its appearance in Dragon Quest VIII. An infographic in the first released image highlights how it will work. Someone first adds the proper amount of water and instant ramen to the pot. They then place the lid on top and place it in the microwave. When it is done, someone can then add garnishes and use it as a bowl to eat the ramen.

Here's the first image for that:

This isn't the first time Taito and Square Enix teamed up to turn the Alchemy Pot into something use can use in the kitchen. In August 2024, an ice cream maker that looked like the item appeared. That featured a handle on the top for churning, with a Dragon Quest slime perched on it.

The Dragon Quest AM Alchemy Pot Ramen Maker will appear in Japan toward the end of November 2025. The most recent release in the series is Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake for the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Persona Music Experience Live Concert Comes to US for First Time in 2026

Atlus and Sega announced that the Persona Music Experience will show up outside Japan in 2026, with the Persona Live 2026: Awakenings concert appearing in the US for the first time on January 24, 2026. There will be two performances at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Tickets aren't available yet for these Persona Music Experience performances, so we don't know the prices, but it is possible to sign up on the official site to be part of the pre-sale round on November 5, 2025. People who don't sign up will need to wait until November 7, 2025.

Atlus and Sega confirmed three singers who will be at the Persona Live 2026: Awakenings concert and shared art for it. In so doing, the companies also confirmed two game soundtracks that will definitely appear. Azami Takahashi and Lotus Juice, who worked on Persona 3 Reload tracks, will perform. (Lotus Juice also worked on the original game's songs.) Lyn Inaizumi, who sang on the Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal soundtracks, will also sing. The official reveal also confirmed the Atlus Sound Team composer Toshiki Konishi will be present.

Ahead of these performances, there will be another concert based on the series in Japan. The Persona 5 Special Big Band Concert will happen in Kobe and Tokyo in December 2025. As that is focused on one particular entry, only Lyn Inaizumi is confirmed for that concert.

The Persona Live 2026: Awakenings concert will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California on January 24, 2026. Pre-sale ticket sales start on November 5, 2025, and general sales begin on November 7, 2025.

Football Manager 25 delayed

Football Manager 26's global launch is not too far away, as the football management franchise is all set to make a grand comeback.

After missing out in 2024, Sports Interactive will launch this year's version on PC, consoles, and mobile devices. Most of the interest will once again be for the PC version, which is currently having its Advanced Access Beta.

This guide will help you keep track of the exact moment of release.

Football Manager 26 release countdown

Football Manager 26 will be released worldwide on Nov. 4 on PC and consoles. The release date has been known for quite some time, but if you're confused about the exact time, the following countdown will be helpful.

[hurrytimer id="1136330"]

Sports Interactive has announced the exact launch times ahead of release. Football Manager 26 will be following different launch timings from what the game did during the Advanced Access Beta. Here are those timings, as applicable for different parts of the world.

  • 8am PST
  • 10am CST
  • 11am EST
  • 4pm GMT
  • 5pm CET

What to expect from Football Manager 26

Football Manager 26's Advanced Access Beta has allowed us to get an early glimpse of what to expect from this year's version. While the core gameplay remains the same, here are some changes you will find (compared to Football Manager 24).

  • Completely revamped match engine based on Unity.
  • New tactics that allow you to create in-possession and out-of-possession variations.
  • Better Transfer room.
  • New UI
  • Official league license for the Premier League, which includes all 20 teams, player images, and more.

While the Advanced Access Beta has had many optimization issues, Sports Interactive has been quick to roll out fixes to solve the problems. I am hopeful that the full version will be more stable and have fewer bugs.

Players checking on a fallen enemy in ARC Raiders

The Buried City Hospital Key allows you to access a high-tier loot area in ARC Raiders, and finding it can be a gruelling test.

Like all non-quest keys inside the game, you'll be mainly relying on your luck. However, you'll still have to look at the correct places to raise your chances of success. This guide will help you discover the quest and also state where you can use the key.

How to get the Buried City Hospital key in ARC Raiders

The best place to look for the Hospital Key is the residential areas in Dam Battlegrounds. A couple of my friends managed to get the key from Ruby Residence, which is located in the western part of the map. I have marked its location on the screenshot below to help you find the place.

Confiscation Room Key in ARC Raiders
Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid

I managed to get the key from the Research and Administration building on the slightly eastern part of the map. There's a loot area on the second floor that spawns random keys. If you're lucky, you might end up with a Hospital key from the location. This particular spot is also great for finding keys that unlock other locations, like the Blue Gate Village and the Cellar locations.

Where to use Buried City Hospital key in ARC Raiders

The Hospital is located in the northwestern part of the Buried City map. You'll first want to get to the third floor using the stairs. Take the path that goes left, move past the first door, and you'll get the room on your left (don't take the immediate left).

Hospital in ARC Raiders
Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid

You can use the key to unlock the door and obtain all the available loot. A note of caution: the Hospital is a high-tier loot area, so you can always expect to find trouble at this location. It's better to remove the enemies first before proceeding to loot the location.

This area is also part of the Medical Merchandise quest, so finding the key is pretty essential if you're aiming to move forward with completing the vital mission and getting more rewards in the process.

Battlefield REDSEC

It's been less than a week since Battlefield's free-to-play REDSEC battle royale mode launched, but players of the paid Battlefield 6 game are not a fan of how the winds seem to be changing.

As a long-time Call of Duty player, I only have one response: "First time?" Because yeah, anyone could have seen EA's focus shifting to the money-making free-to-play mode and microtransactions coming by looking at the past five years of CoD and Warzone. But I also think the panic may be setting in a bit too quick.

BF6 and BF Redsec key art
Images via EA

One such vocal BF6 fan took to the anger-pit that is the Battlefield Reddit page to voice their concerns, angrily calling BF6 a "bait and switch" and "a Call of Duty game wearing a Battlefield skin, marketed as a 'return to form' for the BF3/BF4 era that never arrived." Oof.

The Redditor brought forth the key art for BF6 compared to REDSEC's as evidence, citing the game's branding as a "drastic tonal shift" that spells the beginning of the era where REDSEC is the focus and BF6 falls behind, at least in theory.

"The launch branding felt like the core BF we've all missed," the player said. "The four anonymous soldiers, seen only from behind, communicated that this game is about nameless fighters thrown into all-out war. Then came season one. After barely 18 days of that grounded atmosphere, this new branding looks ripped straight from Call of Duty and seems to represent a broader shift."

A lot of users felt compelled to call the post out, saying that BF6 feels the same for them and that the poser is exaggerating. But some others are smelling what the OP is cooking, especially when it comes to seeing Warzone and CoD's influences.

"What I hate is how stylistically it's the EXACT copy of CoD/Warzone, like they're not even trying to hide it or give it their own spin," another gamer said. "I played CoD/Warzone a bunch and it feels like a permanent Deja Vu being in the menus. I don't hate CoD/Warzone for what it is, let it be what it is. I was just also hoping to get that BF experience back. If I wanted Warzone, I'd play Warzone...wtf..."

For what it's worth, Steam reviews for REDSEC are Mixed, while BF6's clock in at Mostly Positive, reflecting a wide array of opinions when it comes to both games. Either way, there's over 400,000 players online on Steam as I type this (player count is not tracked individually for the different modes), so EA and Battlefield Studios are doing something right.

I'm personally not a BF6 player but I have tried REDSEC, and I thought it was a fine game. What say you, dear reader? Is BF6 headed down the Warzone path with REDSEC? Let us know in the comments below.

BO7 Little Caesars

Pizza is a classic gaming snack, and Call of Duty is a classic game, so why not combine the two?

Black Ops 7 and Little Caesars had the same exact idea. And as part of this year's collaboration, gamers can unlock special skins and prizes in CoD with their orders at the delicious Detroit-based pizza chain. It's a win-win situation.

Here's what we know so far about the Black Ops 7 Little Caesars collaboration.

Black Ops 7 Little Caesars codes

Little Caesars BO7 double XP codes
Image via Little Caesars

The BO7 collab with Little Caesars works the same way as it did last year for Black Ops 6. From Nov. 3 through the end of 2025, any order of $3 or more through the Little Caesars app or in-person will reward a code for "Dual Double XP, plus a shot to win exclusive in‑game rewards like operator skins, calling cards, emblems, and battle passes."

Like last year, each code redeemed will reward double XP tokens along with the random chance at even more items, like the anticipated pizza-themed operator skin, and even battle pass codes for those who have the most luck.

If you order in person, the code will be found on your receipt along with a QR code. If you order online through the Little Caesars website or app, the code will be emailed to you. You can then sign up and input the code on callofduty.littlecaesars.com to get your rewards.

The fine print on the website says that you can earn up to 40 hours total of double XP, there are 19,653 prizes available throughout the event's duration, and they range in retail value from $4.99 all the way up to $99.99. The promotion is only available in the US, Canada, and Mexico, so keep that in mind before making any big pizza purchases.

The event has officially begun as of Nov. 3. If you're looking to stock up on items like the skin above, double XP codes, or other Little Caesars-themed cosmetic items, make sure to grab them before 2026 rolls around and the promotion comes to an end.

Player aiming at other players in ARC Raiders

The Marked for Death quest is a relatively early-mid game activity in ARC Raiders that requires you to find two items, based in different locations.

As with such quests, the game doesn't give you the exact location, and straying from the target path can prove to be quite costly if you encounter ARC enemies or human players. This guide will tell you about what needs to be done to complete the Marked for Death quest.

ARC Raiders Marked for Death quest walkthrough

The Marked for Death quest can be broken down into two parts.

  • Reach the Su Durante Warehouse
  • Search for Train Wen's cache

Su Durante Warehouse location

Our first task takes us to the north-western part of the Buried City, where the Warehouse is. Reach the top-left corner, and go down. You'll reach the wall and a big cache by it. Interact with the cache to complete the first task, and the quest will automatically update to the next one. If you're in front of the Warehouse, you can go behind the building to find the cache. I have marked the exact location where you'll be able to find the cache in the screenshot below.

Warehouse location in Buried City in ARC Raiders
Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid

Train Wen's cache location

The next part of the task is relatively easy, as you'll need to follow a set of footsteps (leading from the cache). These footsteps will lead you to a box buried in the sand. Investigate the box, and your quest will automatically update. This will bring the Marked for Death quest to an end. If you're yet to access the quest, it will become available once you finish the Broken Monument mission.

ARC Raiders Marked for Death quest rewards

Here are the items you'll get from completing the Marked for Death quest.

  • Shotgun Choke II
  • Angled Grip II

Make sure to extract successfully to bring back the rewards to your Workshop.

A player hunts a Rex in Ark Survival Evolved

So, ARC Raiders is a fun time, isn't it? I've been killed for no other reason than sport so many times, it reminded me of Ark: Survival Evolved in more than just the name. So I downloaded the ludicrously large 270-odd gig and tucked into an old classic.

Why Evolved and not Ascended? Well, because I just don't see much of a point in upgrading, myself. But more on that later.

They are not the same

First off, it's important to note that these two games are very different. Ark is, first and foremost, a survival crafting game. ARC is an extraction shooter game. You can shoot guns in Ark, but you can't tame dinosaurs in ARC.

A player and his dinosaurs in Ark Survival Evolved.
Where are my pants? Why, I misplaced them, apparently. Screenshot by Destructoid

Still with me? Good, because I grew tired of ARC Raiders pretty quickly, even though it's a great game, and went back to this old classic. Here's how that went and whether I think it's worth its very respectable price tag in 2025.

You can't tame dinosaurs in just any old game

One of the most satisfying aspects of the Ark games is building an army of dinosaurs to do your bidding. At least, until an Alpha Rex decides that your herd of Parasaur looks just a little too juicy, and wipes out all your hard taming.

On top of that, he'll probably wreck your base while you cower inside, too. Of course, all of this could have been avoided if you'd just had the time to build a proper trap and tame that Therizinosaur just down the beach.

It's this ebb and flow of success and failure that made Ark so good when I first played it way back when. And now, returning to the game some five years after putting it down, I'm instantly hooked once more.

It's not an easy game to get into, mind you. I still had some memories of what I was supposed to do, but even then, I had to almost re-learn the game. I built my tried-and-trusted Argy trap, ready to upgrade my flier, before things went horribly wrong. My Pteranodon ended with an inch of its life, and I had just a sliver, all while the Argy escaped my trap and almost killed me.

In case you don't know, Argentavis are kind of like giant eagles, and they're a huge upgrade on your first available flying dinosaur, the Pteranodon.

Anyway, I refused to give up, and after nursing myself and my flier back to health, I tried again. Nope, the trap turned out to be pretty useless. But I relented, and eventually, downed the Argy... right next to a pack of Carnotaurus.

They are these huge, horned beasts that are exceptionally angry. I've always felt that they're the angriest dinos that Ark can throw at you, if not the most dangerous. Still, my Pteranodon and I were outmatched.

Naturally, I played quite a lot of Ark back in the day, so I knew that if I just baited them off a cliff, my Argy would be safe. I did just that, and successfully, if you can even believe it. Usually, in this game, what can go wrong will go wrong.

A while later, I had my very own Argentavis, and what a feeling to find success after such a struggle. And that's why I'm hooked, and that's why it's so hard to put this game down once it's got you.

Oh, and did I mention, it's even better with friends.

Which Ark: Survival version should you get?

If building your own base and protecting it with an army of Raptors sounds like your thing, you may be wondering which version of Ark to get. Honestly, unless you want official multiplayer servers or all your friends have Ascended, I'd just go with Evolved. It's just a fraction of the price, at $15 vs. $45, and it's essentially the same game if you're only in it for the single player.

That said, I still think that even the more expensive option is worth the money. This is a fun game, and if you like survival crafting titles and haven't played an Ark game yet, it's still totally worth it.

I'd love to hear about your Ark or ARC stories in the comments, so feel free to let loose.
