With a final lick, the weasel expires. Its head is mine. I slink back to my nest and shove this new head onto my strangely thick duck neck. Then, I take off in a flutter and scutter of beetle wings and legs. I pass an Oscar the grouch-style bloke in a basket selling animal body parts for crystals. Ahead lies a giant salamander wearing a fedora. He asks me to go and steal some eggs from an ant queen who's wearing an actual crown. I refuse. We fight. He keeps whistling for backup. My weasel head bites away, an openly terrified expression written across its whiskers.

That, in so many words, is Strange Seed, which came out in full yesterday and also has a demo I've gioven a go for this article. It's a cartoonish evolution murderfest from devs Chronicle Games, who cite E.V.O.: Search for Eden and Spore's creature stage as their inspirations.

I'm about an hour into Whiskerwood, the new city builder from Minakata Dynamics and publishers Hooded Horse, and I've already made an absolute mess of my coastline. A clever and charismatic hybrid of Against The Storm, Robin Jarvis novels and the settlement of North America, Whiskerwood puts you in charge of some mice building colonies on cuboid islands. The islands are lovely so far, their Minecrafty nooks and crannies crying out to be decked with gardens and windmills and cobblestone paths. But you've got taxes to pay, so the first thing you do is sink a bunch of mineshafts at random, scooping out coal and copper for the literal fat cats back at court.

Last week, GTA 6 developers Rockstar Games suddenly fired around 30 UK-based workers on a charge of "gross misconduct". According to the UK's IWGB Game Workers Union, the firings are in fact retaliation against staff for attempting to unionise, as is their right under UK law. They called it "the most blatant and ruthless act of union busting in the history of the games industry."

This week, Rockstar pushed back against these claims in a new statement to Bloomberg, accusing the fired employees of sharing "confidential information on a public forum". The IWGB insist, however, that the "public forum" alluded to was just a private Discord channel for IWGB members and Rockstar developers to discuss working conditions and unionisation efforts, and that no confidential information was shared. The IWGB have also organised gatherings across the UK to show solidarity for the affected Rockstar staff. This morning, I attended one such gathering - a protest outside Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive's offices in London.

Cloud Gets Lightning Returns: FFXIII Gear in FFVII Ever Crisis final fantasy crossover

Square Enix started the next part of the new Final Fantasy crossover in FFVII Ever Crisis that gives Cloud Strife a chance to look like Lightning, only with this part based on Lightning Returns: FFXIII. That banner includes a weapon and a gear costume for him, while Glenn can get a weapon inspired by Snow's from that same third entry in that trilogy. Both can be found on an event banner until November 27, 2025, following a brief maintenance delay that kept it and Dungeon Ranking: Da-chao Statue from showing up as expected.

This FFVII Ever Crisis banner features a returning Venus Gospel Ultimate Weapon for Cid that isn't tied to the Final Fantasy crossover and the Lightning Returns: FFXIII items for Cloud and Glenn. Cloud can get the Crimson Blitz sword, while Glenn can get a Snow's Bardiche polearm. The banner is also how you get the Equilibrium gear costume, while Glenn's Snow Style one inspired by Snow's look from that third game is tied to completing the free event panel missions

To make things easier to read, here's a list going over the pieces of equipment for Cloud and Glenn from this banner and some of their most notable abilities:

  • Cloud's Crimson Blitz: Lightning Rush for single-target Mag Non-elemental damage, adds weakness to Ice, adds Ice damage bonus to Cloud's attack if HP is over 50%.
  • Cloud's Equilibrium: Boost ATK (All Allies) and Savior's Creed for own Phys and Mag defense +20%, allies HP +15%, and own Phys and Mag Dmg +20% if Command Gauge maxed out.
  • Glenn's Snow's Bardiche: Chaos Geyser for single-target Ice damage, Enfeeble status effect, decreased MATK, and increases MDEF of all allies if HP is over 70%.

Here's the official image for this new banner:

The previous FFVII Ever Crisis event banner featured weapons and gear outfits for Aerith and Tifa based on the original FFXIII

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the FFXIII crossover event and its banners are live in the FFVII spin-off until November 27, 2025.

Hololive Vtuber Inugami Korone on Hiatus

Cover announced that Hololive Vtuber Inugami Korone will go on hiatus. This came up on her official social media account. Her manager made the statement on her behalf and noted that, during this time, she'll be caring for a family member. Further updates on her hiatus will appear at a later date.

The announcement noted that we might "see" her even during this hiatus. This is due to some already prepared content already being recorded ahead of her going on a break. This seemed more of an advisement that if someone does see a video of her or announcement, to confirm that it already was planned and she is still taking personal time.

Earlier in February 2025, Inugami Korone went on another hiatus, with the Hololive Vtuber noting she'd be going on vacation with her mother. She revealed that break herself during a zatsudan chatting stream at the end of January 2025.

Inugami Korone has been a member of Hololive since April 2019, and the Vtuber is part of the Gamers generation and group. She's often paired up with Nekomata Okayu for streams. She's also a Sonic the Hedgehog ambassador, with a model and designs of her in an outfit based on Sonic.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Story and Combat Detailed

Sega and RGG updated the official site for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, the updated version of the game with new Yoshitaka Mine side campaign, and the new details go over the story and combat. For example, Kazuma Kiryu's Dragon of Dojima and Ryukyu combat and potential abilities were teased, while we learned about how Mine's story goes and his Dark Awakening combat ability.

One of the most notable changes to the main website is more character pages are available. These primarily go over supporting cast members. Among them are profiles for frequent Kiryu rival Goro Majima and others like Yoshinobu Suzuki, a mysterious stranger who resembles Shintaro Kazama, and a shadowy Man in Black.

The other Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties information for both games come up on their Battle pages. The main game section confirmed Kiryu will be able to use the Dragon of Dojima: Kiwami Style and Ryukyu Style to attack, with the latter focused on Okinawan martial arts and using a rochin spear and tinbe shield to attack. His Skill Tree will let someone adjust stats and pick up Special Abilities, and his phone can be customized with stickers to further adjust his power.

Likewise, Mine uses Shoot-Boxing for his combat system. This consists of new moves and ones based on his moveset as an NPC in the original Yakuza 3. There will also be a Shackled Heart gauge that lets him enter a Dark Awakening mode for more brutal attacks. Also, like Kiryu, he has his own Skill Tree that lets someone adjust his stats and abilities.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will come to the Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC Release Date Set

Nintendo promised Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC details in a trailer today, and the showcase revealed what to expect from the Hoopa-related adventure and a release date. We'll see the add-on arrive on the Switch and Switch 2 on December 10, 2025. The video also showed quite a bit of gameplay and teased some extra Mega Evolutions. It also confirmed that Diancie will be available in Pokemon Legends: Z-A starting on November 6, 2025, and everyone can claim the character via a new side quest.

In the case of Diancie, we can now take the mission "Shine Bright like a Gemstone" in the game after an update. Doing so will give us a chance to catch the Pokemon. Then, if we head into Mystery Gift, we can get a free Diancite. Giving the character that stone lets us get Mega Diancie.

Here's the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Diancie trailer:

Now in this new footage, we get to see some new allies, new opponents, returning Pokemon from past games, and hints at new Mega Evolutions.

Review: Onion Games' Stray Children Feels Like a PS1 JRPG

If you loved games like Moon: Remix RPG Adventure and Chulip, you know Onion Games. The developer and Love-de-Lic's titles are otherworldly and surreal, offering unexpected, heartfelt, and visually distinct experiences. If you see one of Onion Games or Yoshiro Kimura's titles, you know they made it. If you looked at Stray Children and didn't know better, you'd expect it to be a PS1 JRPG, and it absolutely builds on everything Moon did. It captures everything we'd expect from a game from that era, even if it means it gets a little frustrating as a result.

As Stray Children begins, we see a child alone in an apartment in Japan. There's a hand-drawn picture of a missing father on the desk in his room. His mother left a note about alleged food to microwave for a meal, but the fridge and oven are empty. When a mysterious man in a suit rings the doorbell and offers insight into what happened to the character's dad, we're given no option but to go with him into the subway to a hidden room that was a space in which the father was working on a lost game known as Crescent Moon. After touching the system after being told not to, the child and associate are sucked into the game, perhaps just as the missing father was. From there, we eventually end up in a world where only children exist as "sane" and peaceful individuals, as all remaining adults turned into strange and hostile beings.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLXCWLk9yZc

The presentation in Stray Children is Onion Games at its finest, channeling the same design direction as the JRPG Moon and the kinds of filters and aesthetic that replicate the PS1, CRT experience.  All of the characters look incredibly unique, while said designs also accentuate certain character elements and perhaps even personality traits. You will not see another game like this, yet at the same time the execution immediately triggers memories of the 1990s. It's serious in tone, sometimes even dark, but at the same time whimsical and occasionally hilarious. It is linear, but really exploring everywhere can reward you with interesting dialogue or helpful insights and items.

Battles are turn-based, but channel bullet hell elements from Undertale and NieR. Fights tend to start with an Older being introduced. On our turn, we can attack, use an item, or Talk. Talk is the pacifist approach, as it involves using set words in a specific order in to cause an "open sesame" command to open up so we can set that opponent free. Since using Talk completely eliminates certain enemies as a random foes in that region going forward and further fills out your guide to Olders with wisdom and insights, it always feels worth it to try that approach.

The thing is, Stray Children also features that signature PS1 JRPG difficulty that can stem from obtuse puzzles and the kinds of insights that might appear after an encounter already happened. This mainly comes up if you decide to try and Talk it out with every Older. These opponents appear as both random enemies and major bosses. The ones that can pop up might leave shells in the field you can examine to get a hint as to how to solve the word-based puzzle for a pacifist approach. Except you might find these after. And even if you find one before combat with one of them, you might not suss out the answer. I didn't see Paradise Bird's shell beforehand. So when I got to its fight and the Talk options were onomatopoeia associated with different birds, I didn't know what to do. The good news is if you do fight, that encounter will reappear and you can then opt for a more peaceful approach when you do know more. On the enemy's turn, they summon bullet hell projectiles that must be dodged, though our avatar can only walk and not run to evade them.

Onion Games isn't only taking that approach in Stray Children fights, as the JRPG features that kind of PS1 "challenge" when trying to progress through certain areas. Nothing is telegraphed here, much like in Moon. You need to experiment and explore to find your way forward. For example, we're stuck in Childonia not long after getting trapped in the game Crescent Moon. We're told to say hello to everyone in the town to settle in. Except you can't actually find every space unless you explore along walls and investigate where you saw someone running from to find additional areas. Read every sign. Search for every chest. Revisit places or look around thoroughly to see if something changed. Onion Games both asks us to pay attention and take our time. Also like older PS1 games and JRPG releases, it is absolutely possible to trap yourself in Stray Children if you don't use items correctly.

Here's the thing. Those elements will absolutely frustrate people. They might even infuriate them. The obscure nature of the Talk puzzles and fact you can't immediately run or dodge projectiles in a fight could get annoying! But at the same time, with the themes of the game being burnout, sadness, depression, and dealing with things you can't change that can wear you down, it feels like all of those make sense in the context of the experience. Not only that, but those types of limitations are both hallmarks of life and the PS1 JRPG experience, making Stray Children feel very true to form.

Stray Children is a unique and special JRPG from developers known for PS1 obscure gems and aren't afraid to embrace every element of that era. Every frustration even feels like it is there for a reason, just like every joyful, poignant, or dark moment does. It's so unusual and does feel like it belongs alongside games like Moon: Remix RPG Adventure and Undertale, while also possessing its own unique message and fostering an individual atmosphere. It's a special game, albeit a niche one, and I hope people accept it.

Stray Children is available for the Switch and PC.

Player in front of the Research and Administration building in ARC Raiders

A Balanced Harvest requires you to find information related to agricultural research in ARC Raiders, but it can be confusing if you don't know what to do.

You have to get the A Balanced Harvest quest from Celeste. Let's look at how you can complete it and what its associated tasks are.

ARC Raiders A Balanced Harvest quest walkthrough

The A Balanced Harvest quest can be broken down into three essential parts.

  • Go to the Research & Administration building
  • Locate Lab 1 on the upper floor above the reception
  • Search for any traces of the agricultural research project

Research and Administration building location in ARC Raiders
Screenshot and remix by Destructoid

First things first: we have to reach the correct quest location. In this case, it's the Research and Administration building. I have marked its location on the Dam Battlegrounds map (the marked location is from where you'll find the stairs) and also added an image of what the building looks like.

Research and Administration building in ARC Raiders

Take the stairs and go all the way up till you come through the first door. Head inside, go past the canteen, and take the next door. From here, you have a corridor going straight and another one going left. Take the one that goes left.

Follow the corridor, and Lab 1 will be at the end of the first right turn (on your right). Head inside, and go through the first room to the second one. You'll find the agricultural research project papers on a table. Stand close to it, and you'll get the chance to scan the papers.

Complete the scan, and that'll mark the end of A Balanced Harvest in ARC Raiders.

A Balanced Harvest quest rewards in ARC Raiders

Here's the complete list of rewards you get by completing A Balanced Harvest.

  • Three Advanced Mechanical Components
  • Three Medium Gun Parts
  • One Steel Spring

If you're looking for quests to complete, both Our Presence Up There and Communication Hideout are excellent choices.

ARC Raiders gameplay screenshot where players are shooting a Bastion

When living underground, it's important to keep some eyes on and in the sky.

In ARC Raiders, one of the main storyline's quests involves placing something called LiDAR Scanners across a variety of locations so that those in Speranza can keep track of what's going on Topside. That's where you come in.

Here are all of the locations where you need to install LiDAR Scanners in ARC Raiders' "Eyes in the Sky" quest.

ARC Raiders - Eyes in the Sky quest locations

First things first, make sure you have a few Ziplines in your Quick Use inventory. You're going to need them for a couple of these. There's three different areas you need to visit for this quest: Control Tower on Dam Battlegrounds, Galleria on Buried City, and Communications Tower on Spaceport.

The quest description makes it seem like you need a LiDAR Scanner in your inventory, but you don't need anything extra besides the Ziplines you need to use to get to high out of reach areas. Let's knock these out one by one.

On Spaceport, install a LiDAR Scanner at the Communications Tower

Eyes in the Sky ARC Raiders Spaceport map location
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Comms Tower is off to the far eastern area in Spaceport, and it's tough to miss. It's a giant, skinny red tower that you can see from a distance. You don't need your Zipline for this one, either. Just climb the ladder and interact to install the LiDAR Scanner when you reach the top.

On Buried City, install a LiDAR Scanner on top of the Galleria sign

Eyes in the Sky ARC Raiders Galleria Buried City scanner map location
Screenshot by Destructoid

Bring a Zipline for this one. This sign you're looking for is a giant tower with a G at the top (for Galleria), but you can easily get up there with a well-placed Zipline from down below. Once at the top, place the LiDAR Scanner.

On Dam Battlegrounds, install a LiDAR Scanner at the top of the Control Tower

Eyes in the Sky ARC Raiders Dam Battlegrounds location
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can get to the top of the Control Tower by using a Zipline from underneath, or by entering the building and using the elevator shaft zipline that's built in to the map. Be wary of lots of ARCs and Raiders in this area, but once you're up top, place the Scanner to finish this quest.

Once all three Scanners are placed, hand in the quest for your rewards:

  • x3 Tagging Grenade
  • x1 Vita Spray
  • x5 Yellow Light Stick

ARC Raiders character

ARC Raiders is steamrolling through Steam and sending shockwaves throughout the gaming world. It's one of the most successful extraction shooters ever created and proof that games can look and play good while running smoothly. Yes, even on Unreal Engine 5.

And you might have caught wind of the game, its cool post-apocalyptic world, cruel robots, and happy-go-lucky band of players that range from murderous maniacs to the friendliest folks you've ever met. It has a lot going on, and deserves all the attention and praise it's getting.

So, if you were thinking of trying it out, or are about to dive in (or go up, whatever), then these tips and tricks should help you on your journey.

1. Loot everything

Mushrooms in ARC Raiders
Everything you find has some use. Screenshot by Destructoid

This is an extraction shooter, and loot is at its center. Everything you do topside, whether it be taking ARCs down or hunting other people like some force divine brought out of the Old World, revolves around gathering as much loot as possible and bringing it back to base. There, you can repurpose it into a variety of items, gadgets, guns, workstations, or even sell it and make some cash.

It's your prerogative, but the point still stands.

Looting does not only lead to a ton of good... well, loot, but grants a ton of XP, 200 per container, which'll see you level up at lightning speed. Even if the container has already been scoured by others, the XP reward stands, and is probably the best way to speedrun leveling aside from completing objectives.

So, yeah, never miss out on opening a container. You never know what you can find.

2. Crafting is just as good as looting—maybe even better

Ferro gun in ARC Raiders.
Why look for a gun when you can just make one? Screenshot by Destructoid

ARC Raiders does this modern extraction shooter thing, where loot is just the first step towards greatness. Yes, finding and bringing back a bunch of pink epic rarity items is all fun and games, but it's what you make with them that truly counts.

By gathering a ton of good loot, you enable yourself to craft weapons of war unlike anything you've encountered topside. From powerful weapons to effective gadgets to shields that are three times the size of the starting one—you name it, it can be made. Loot, then, goes side-by-side with crafting, which is your ultimate goal when it comes to items.

Hoarding everything you find will just fill up your stash and take up space for nothing, whereas by crafting, you can put your hard-earned loot to better use and return topside with better equipment.

This, in turn, will enable you to go out on actual hunts, attacking Queens and Rocketeers and Bastions and Bombardiers, i.e., the baddest motherloving ARCs around. Anyone can find a pink, but this last bit is reserved only for the greats, so be one.

3. Always bring a Raider Hatch key with you

ARC Raiders PvE shooter trailer
Chaos, like in this image, means trouble—and Raider Hatches help you avoid it. Image via Embark Studios

Once you've unlocked them, Raider Hatches become a pivotal component of your runs. The higher the stakes and the better the loot you carry, the more important Hatches become. They're the best way to extract out of any map in ARC Raiders, as there is no risky elevator ride involved, nor do you have to sit around, exposed, waiting for the platform to open and let you go back.

They remove most of the danger that comes alongside traditional extraction options, and will ensure you always securely bring your loot back to base and turn it into amazing stuff. Risking it all, constantly, at traditional extracts will not only grind your progression to a halt, but also enable others to get ahead of you out of your own effort.

Avoid setting yourself back by crafting (or buying) a Raider Hatch key each time you go on a high-stakes run. You'll thank me later.

4. Do not shoot on sight, not everyone is an enemy

ARC Raiders player shooting at a robot in a desert.
You can parlay with your fellow raiders. Not every encounter needs to leave bodies behind. Image via Embark Studios

This point is primarily aimed at those who play solo, since that's where you'll be most exposed and liable to deaths and losses. Fending off against anyone alone is a sure-fire way to getting killed in ARC Raiders, so it's oftentimes advisable to give a friendly DON'T SHOOT whenever you spot someone in the world.

Even in duos or trios, you can try this method out if you aren't confident enough that you can win a fight. The game has a strong social aspect and is in many ways the anti-Tarkov, given that not everyone immediately believes others to be hostile. Hell, you can even meet new friends, allies, or get help in a tight situation against ARCs, and it doesn't really cost you anything.

I've met so many great people already in the game, with the majority of all players I've encountered being friendly, nice, and open to cooperation. A ton of unnecessary bloodshed has been avoided by just being chill, and you only stand to gain by doing so.

5. Keep track of your stamina and don't get caught exhausted

Ladder that leads to the antenna in Red Tower in ARC Raiders
Don't just run around. Conserve your energy until you really need it. Screenshot by Destructoid

Running around all the time will only get you killed, either by ARCs or other players. Managing your stamina is a crucial component of any game that has it, but in ARC Raiders, its role is too great to ignore.

Always have some stamina left in the tank should the need arise, especially if you happen to be surrounded by Hornets and other deadly ARCs that can take you down in seconds. To make stamina expenditure more efficient, holster the weapon you're holding, as that makes you move faster while spending less stamina, overall ensuring you can cover a lot of ground without becoming exhausted.

Running out of stamina, which is recharged ultra-slowly while on the move, forces you to either stop or press on at the risk of being caught lacking. It's quite easy to fall into the trap of endless sprinting if you come from games like CoD or Battlefield, so adapt to this new environment or face deadly consequences.

Some additional tips include: don't fight every ARC you see, not all of them are easy to kill; shoot ARCs in their weak spots to kill them quickly and conserve ammo; crouch to sneak around deadly opponents, and have fun.

Food can make or break a PEAK expedition. If you're starving and on the verge of passing out, grabbing a quick bite to eat can save your life, even if it's just for a couple of minutes. When it comes to Shroomberries, however, you can do more harm than good.

How to find Shroomberries in PEAK

Shroomberries spawn exclusively in PEAK's Roots biome. This biome has a chance to appear each day as an expedition's second level, replacing the Tropics. Shroomberries grow on the ground and up the biome's mountain, similar to a mushroom.

Eating a Shroomberry will inflict a small amount of spore damage to you, regardless of its type. It'll also restore hunger and give bonus stamina.

All Shroomberry types in PEAK

There are five Shroomberry types you can find within PEAK's Roots biome. Each variant features a unique color and pattern to distinguish it from the others. Here's a complete list of every Shroomberry type you can find:

Appearance Color Pattern
PEAK red Shroomberry Red Squiggly lines
PEAK green Shroomberry Green Stars
PEAK Blue Shroomberry Blue Sprinkles
PEAK purple Shroomberry Purple X shapes
PEAK yellow Shroomberry Yellow Spirals

Eating Shroomberries grants you a unique effect that varies by color and the map for today. While a red berry may have a positive effect one day, a yellow one can negatively affect you. While the effects don't change with each expedition, they do change with every map. In other words, if a purple Shroomberry is helpful today, it might hurt you tomorrow.

Here's a list of some effects we've encountered while playing:

  • Removes a small amount of spores, injury, and other harmful ailments from your stamina bar.
  • Inflict extra spore damage.
  • Makes your stamina bar disappear temporarily, replacing it with mushrooms.
  • Your character will fall to the ground, temporarily becoming paralyzed.
  • A fart sound effect and a cloud will appear around your character.
  • Gain unlimited stamina temporarily, similar to the Big Lollipop's or Bugle of Friendship's effects.
  • Gain faster climbing speed temporarily.

How to get the Advanced Mycology Badge in PEAK

Obtaining the Advanced Mycology Badge requires eating all five Shroomberry types in one expedition. While some effects are helpful, especially those that grant unlimited stamina or faster climbing speed, others can be detrimental if you're near a Roots biome zombie or already have low health. Cooking your Shroomberries over a portable stove or campfire can help mitigate some of these effects.

The trickiest part is finding all five Shroomberry types in one run. While the berries themselves aren't rare, you can get unlucky with their spawns. They appear randomly, so you can't rely on memorizing their locations. Collecting all five berries for the Advanced Mycology Badge requires a bit of luck, but you can take advantage of a berry's positive perks to help you search for the rest.

A couple of Bombardiers in ARC Raiders fighting in a swamp.

As you progress through ARC Raiders, your needs for high-value loot will increase, which oftentimes means you'll have to start fighting all those massive ARCs you had been avoiding.

This includes the Bombardier, a powerful explosive-oriented ARC that has to be taken down to procure the super useful and valuable Bombardier Cells. So, if you're on the hunt for the latter, here's what you need to do.

Where to find Bombardier Cells in ARC Raiders

A player in a jungle biome aiming at a massive robot in ARC Raiders.
Bombardiers are commonly seen in The Blue Gate, for example. Screenshot by Destructoid

As stated, Bombardier Cells are dropped by Bombardiers, a powerful white-colored ARC that resembles the Bastion but has a cannon mounted on its top. They spawn on most of the maps in the game, but the easiest places to find them are The Blue Gate and Buried City.

On the former, Bombardiers tend to roam the area around Raider's Refuge near Trapper's Glade, which you should be familiar with if you did the With a Trace quest. The Bombardier here is mostly alone, but will have some smaller ARCs patrolling about, such as Hornets and Wasps.

The Buried City's Bombardier tends to roam around the very middle of the map, near the Town Hall and Parking Garage zones. This one is usually packed with a lot of support ARCs that fly around it, making it quite the challenge to bring it down. I've even spotted Rocketeers and Leapers spawning not that far from the Bombardier, which could be incredibly challenging to beat.

Even so, these are some of the most common spots to encounter this powerful enemy, given how it spawns less frequently than any other ARC I've mentioned here.

My advice for fighting it is to bring a ton of high armor-piercing weapons, use powerful explosives, and attack it with as many people as possible. You will need high-tier guns for this endeavor, so don't try to bring a Kettle to an ARC fight when striking at a Bombardier.

Bombardier Cells can be looted from both its main chassis and the smaller debris that are blown off as you deal damage to it, so be sure to loot everything it drops so as to not miss any potential Cells.

GTA VI official artwork

GTA 6 developer Rockstar claims the over 30 employees who were fired last Thursday, Oct. 30, were leaking confidential information to parties outside the company. The company denied all claims that it was a union-busting move.

"Last week, we took action against a small number of individuals who were found to be distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum, a violation of our company policies," a Rockstar spokesperson told Bloomberg, adding how this action was "in no way related to people's right to join a union."

This statement led to union protests on the morning of Nov. 6 in front of the Rockstar North headquarters in the U.K. Workers are demanding the employees previously fired are reinstated as asking for support from bystanders, calling Rockstar's actions "the most ruthless and blatant example of illegal union busting in the history of the games industry."

https://twitter.com/GTABase/status/1986419050818457635

The union said the employees who were fired were part of a private trade union chat group on Discord, and the president of the union said Rockstar is "afraid of hard-working staff privately discussing exercising their rights for a fairer workplace and a collective voice."

Rockstar saying "confidential information" was leaked "in a public forum" likely means that these workers were sharing details about their workplace at Rockstar on the union's Discord channel, not that they were leaking game information on online forums like Reddit or 4chan. Up until the time of writing, no new GTA 6 leaks came out anywhere at least since Oct. 30, when the employees were let go.

The GTA 6 players on Reddit are mostly supporting the affected developers.

"Here's the PR damage control for union busting," a Redditor wrote. "Was this 'company secret' 100 hour work weeks?," another player added, ironically. "Doing this s*** to people who create the games is never good!," a third one commented.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GTA6/comments/1opirx3/jason_schreier_rockstar_games_said_that_the/

GTA Base interviewed a spokesperson for the IWGB union, who is supporting Rockstar's workers. "The IWGB is currently pursuing all legal avenues to demand workers are reinstated and grant them interim relief, and will continue protest at Rockstar and Take Two until workers are back in their jobs," the spokesperson said. "Workers only communicated in private and legally protected trade union channels and did not leak any information publicly. Where are the leaks?"

Server Slam backpack in ARC Raiders

ARC Raiders ditches the extraction shooter urgency and FOMO by making inventory wipes optional, and they are not easy to achieve.

There are several stages of objectives that players must complete if they wish to wipe their inventory and earn exclusive rewards in what's called an Expedition Project. The grind is very real, so only the most dedicated Raiders will likely want to apply.

Here's everything there is to know about the massive list of requirements for players to complete an Expedition in ARC Raiders.

All ARC Raiders Expedition Project requirements

Once you reach level 20 in ARC Raiders, you can begin an Expedition Project, which is basically a reset or "prestige" of your character. You gain extra skill points and other exclusive rewards, but you lose quite a bit as well.

To go on an Expedition, you must first contribute a wide array of items to your Caravan to send your Raider off into the world, and it's likely going to be very time-consuming to do so. The first few stages contain many common items that you must donate to the Expedition Project, but as you reach the end, they become rarer and more difficult to find.

Here's everything you will need to acquire to complete an Expedition.

Stage 1: Foundation

  • 150 Metal Parts
  • 200 Rubber Parts
  • 80 ARC Alloy
  • 15 Steel Spring

Stage 2: Core Systems

  • 35 Durable Cloth
  • 30 Wires
  • 30 Electrical Components
  • 5 Cooling Fan

Stage 3: Framework

  • 5 Lightbulb
  • 30 Battery
  • 20 Sensors
  • 1 Exodus Module

Stage 4: Outfitting

  • 5 Humidifier
  • 5 Advanced Electrical Components
  • 3 Magnetic Accelerators
  • 3 Leaper Pulse Units

Stage 5: Loading Phase

All of that loot you've been hoarding? It's time to sell it off in bunches to amass a gargantuan amount of Coins. This one may take a while.

  • Combat items: 250,000 Coins
  • Survival items: 100,000 Coins
  • Provisions: 180,000 Coins
  • Materials: 300,000 Coins

Stage 6: Departure

Once you've completed stage five, stage six is all about waiting for the Finalization Phase for departures. For the first Expedition Project after launch, this phase takes place between Dec. 15 to 20, and is finalized on Dec. 21. This cycle will repeat every eight weeks.

ARC Raiders Formicai Outpost

Sometimes, a symbol is what people really need. Or whatever Batman once said.

In ARC Raiders, humanity is struggling underground, but a flag could make all the difference in turning around morale. I guess. That's what the A Symbol of Unification quest is about, and it involves finding a flag and flying it high on Dam Battlegrounds.

Here's everything you need to do to complete the A Symbol of Unification quest in ARC Raiders.

ARC Raiders - A Symbol of Unification quest guide

Screenshot by Destructoid

Your first task is to "reach the Formicai Outpost in Dam Battlegrounds," so deploy into the base map. Your location is at the very southernmost point of the map, and you have to zoom in to see its name.

The location you need to go to is so out of the way compared to the bulk of the map that I wouldn't bother trying for it until you get a spawnpoint close enough. The task is easy, but running there across the map is not fun because this place is really off the beaten path, as the map below indicates:

Formicai Outpost ARC Raiders
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once you're there, the rest is fairly easy. And since it's so far away from the heat of action, you likely won't find other players. Just head up to the top of the hill to enter into the outpost, and you will find the flag in a bag on a desk located here:

A Symbol of Unification quest ARC Raiders
Screenshot by Destructoid

Interact with the bag and the flag will drop out. Pick it up, then turn to your left and walk out onto the ledge to the east where you can find a flagpole. Interact with that, seen here below, to attach the flag to the pole and fly it high:

And that's all there is to it. Extract and get back home to hand in the quest to Celeste, get a new cutscene, and earn some rewards:

  • Outfit (Aviator)
  • Three Mod Components
  • Five Duct Tape

Sketch art of Robert Robertson and his dog Beef in Dispatch.

It's another Wednesday and another batch of Dispatch episodes. Continuing directly from Episodes 3 and 4, this new pair comes in with a bang, marking the best point in its entire narrative.

Everything that's been set up in episodes preceding these is starting to pay off, with a good, if a little fast, buildup toward the final showdown that is to come next week. Characters finally "click" in the best possible way, the gameplay loop remains as fun as ever, and some new quirks and mechanics are introduced to break the monotony of a desk top.

On top of it all, the consequences of your actions are finally coming to full fruition.

But I'll get into that below. Here's our review-in-progress; the last one before we put out a complete, scored review after Episodes 7 and 8.

Flambae singing in karaoke in Dispatch.
The karaoke was pure fire. Pun intended. Screenshot by Destructoid

In Episode 5, we pick up where we were left off in Episode 4. The game puts us straight back into the dispatcher action and has us manage our team of turncoat villains that are trying their best, or so they say. The directing is palpably better this time around, with frame composition and the shots overall being kicked up a notch over previous episodes.

There is a much stronger cinematic feel, with these initial stages of Episode 5 playing out as a proper movie or TV show, one that even your Letterboxd-obsessed friend would praise.

The music that accompanies the scenes is equally good and adds a layer of atmosphere and emotion and heightens the total experience, which seamlessly transitions into gameplay that is simple, but nonetheless effective. Managing the Z-Team is more-or-less the same as the previous episodes, with some minor changes and continuations of the micro-narratives that you might have encountered before.

All members of the roster blend into a beautiful cast, each complementing each, with chemistry so good they might accidentally produce gold. Of course, some still bicker and fight, but that remains meaningful and not forced, and even the worst of the characters like a small Irish dude with huge muscles starting to shine and making their qualities known.

Our protagonist, Robert, remains a conflicted and confused man meandering through a world that feels alien and distant but which he still wishes to be a part of. Aaron Paul pulls no punches when it comes to providing Robert with every bit of emotion and depth, all while remaining detached from his previous roles and doing his best to shape Robert into a unique character.

Episode 5 is by far the best entry to the whole game, with heightened action, tension, and vibes unfolding through masterful directing and acting. Truly a cinematic masterpiece.

Episode 6 on the other hand sees the pace pick up speed, and violently so. It feels much shorter than the fifth, but is not worse, at least not in a general sense. It has a goal in mind and wishes to push the narrative a leap forward, making up for the prior episode's "lost" time. To a degree it does its job, and what's most important—it does not overstay its welcome.

It's markedly different than Episode 5 and ends poignantly (and on a cliffhanger) and overdoes it on some of the puzzles, but it still fits snugly into the overall story and is, for better or worse, an episode necessary to drive the plot forward.

Now I know I'm being a bit confusing with how I'm describing it, but I don't want to reveal any details of the story whatsoever and will reserve my comments on plot elements for the full review. After all, the episodes have just come out and players are yet to experience them, and I won't be the bearer of any news until you've had some time to try stuff yourself.

Overall, these two episodes are a high point for the game, which makes sense as we're entering the final act of this dramatic display of heroism. Stakes are higher than they ever were, stuff is happening fast, and I cannot wait to see how it all ties together when the final two episodes are out next Wednesday.

PEAK Rescue Claw

During PEAK's Roots update, Aggro Crab and Landfall added multiple items that range in usefulness. The Rescue Claw can help you and your friends get out of dangerous situations, making it one of the best items introduced in the update.

How to find the Rescue Claw in PEAK

The Rescue Claw appears in luggage bags throughout PEAK's levels. Although you have higher odds of finding one in rarer bags with multiple items, they can just as easily spawn in regular cases. Luggage spawns are completely random, so you'll likely need to search several until you find one.

The Rescue Claw looks like a red and white grappling hook when you first find it. It's noticeably larger than many other items in the game, making it easier to spot once you encounter it.

What does the Rescue Claw do in PEAK?

There are two main purposes of the Rescue Claw in PEAK:

  1. Use it to grab an unconscious friend without having to run toward them.
  2. Grapple yourself up cliff walls without expending stamina.

The main use of the Rescue Claw is grabbing and pulling unconscious friends who have succumbed to stamina damage. It can be tricky to climb back down the mountain to save them, especially if they fell to the bottom of the map. With the claw, you can partially detour before using it to grab them, making it much easier to save them with a medkit or some food before they die.

If you're in a single-player lobby, you won't have any unconscious friends to save from the brink of death. Instead, you can save yourself from falling or make traversing up mountains easier by using the Rescue Claw as a grappling hook. It has three uses, so although its durability is limited, you don't have to worry about it being a one-use item like the Checkpoint Flag.

How to get the Disaster Response badge in PEAK

Obtaining the Disaster Response badge requires using the Rescue Claw to pull an unconscious friend 30 meters. You'll need to be in a multiplayer lobby for this one. The easiest way to complete this is to have someone purposely take fall damage and land within a long but reachable distance from you. You can then use the claw to pull them up to you, letting you heal them and carry on with the rest of the expedition.

ARC Raiders

A new patch is live for ARC Raiders as of early this morning, and it contains mostly bug fixes and some new store items. But the big stuff could be coming soon.

Last week, Embark Studios revealed ARC Raiders' roadmap for the rest of 2025. For content coming in November, the dev simply listed the new map Stella Montis, two new ARC enemies called Matriarch and Shredder, new gameplay items, and new quests.

But one item listed on the roadmap is more interesting than the others: "Community Unlock Event." And to make things more intriguing, in today's patch notes, it's listed that three new Map Conditions will become available this Saturday: Electromagnetic Storm, Hidden Bunker, and Night Raid on Blue Gate.

It's no secret anymore how the game's fifth map, Stella Montis, is found to the north of Blue Gate. Raiders have found a long, complex underground tunnel system near the mountain range where Stella Montis is located, and many believe that the Community Unlock Event will somehow be tied to those tunnels and will eventually lead to the new map becoming playable.

I'm getting big Destiny 2 vibes from how this is all going down. It feels like the way into Stella Montis will need to be found organically by players brave enough to head into the depths of those tunnels on Blue Gate to somehow find what's within. My bet is that once someone is victorious, Stella Montis will unlock for all players.

Secrets lie within those tunnels, Raiders, so make sure to queue up during these special Map Conditions (especially Hidden Bunker, because that sounds secretive as heck), and you may stumble across the way to Stella Montis, which likely has information on ARC and how the world came to be in its current state.

Check the rest of the patch notes below for more info, but make sure to be geared up before this weekend if you want to potentially be a part of ARC Raiders history.

Players playing together in PEAK

The Roots biome in PEAK might be the toughest area to maneuver, and you'll have to be on your toes to complete the Tread Lightly badge.

Like all other biomes, Roots has its own fair share of dangers. The rainforest-type area has dangerous flora in the form of different mushrooms, and they can be fairly dangerous due to the spores they can create.

This guide will help you stay clear of the dangers and earn the Tread Luightly Badge in PEAK.

PEAK Tread Lightly badge walkthrough

Spores are a harmful affliction that's only applicable in the Roots biome. You'll see sporadic clouds of spores in the air. If you're trying to dodge a spider or a zombie, you can accidentally get caught in such an area and become infected.

Mushroom spores in PEAK

There's another way to get spores, which comes from the mushrooms. Spores appear on your stamina bar like other negative afflictions. They stack up based on when you take damage. If you're focused on completing the Tread Lightly badge, you should be careful when going near mushroom bombs. Ideally, you'll want to avoid any bomb that might appear on your path.

However, things are easier said than done, and you can end up getting spores. To get the Tread Lightly badge, it's okay to take occasional spore damage (under unavoidable circumstances). You're eligible for the badge as long as it doesn't grow above 25% until you have crossed Roots onto the next level.

Here's what you can do after being infected with spores. Use any healing items in your inventory the moment spores cross 10% (approximately). This can be Cure-All, which automatically heals all negative afflictions. Antidote is also known to work, and you can also heal yourself with Healing Root. Looking for them can also help you find a Mandrake (depends on your luck).

The Roots update has also added a new item called Fortified Milk. Consuming this milk creates a temporary barrier that stops all kinds of incoming damage and afflictions. You can use it to stop a dose of incoming spore attack and still qualify for the Tread Lightly badge.

That's pretty much every option you have when it comes to clearing Roots with 25% or less spore damage.

Primetime promo in FC 26

The first set of leaks for the UEFA Primetime promo for FC 26 has arrived on social media after EA Sports dropped an official teaser for the upcoming campaign.

While the Primetime promo will be a new addition to Ultimate Team, it looks and feels similar to the Road to the Knockouts cards (RTTK) from the past. Let's look at all the leaks that have surfaced on social media as of writing, along with when the new cards will be available in Ultimate Team.

All FC 26 Primetime players (leaks)

The Primetime promo will feature special cards of both active footballers and Heroese. Here's a list of the leaked cards.

  • Danielle De Rossi
  • Michel Salgado
  • Eden Hazard
  • Anthony Gordon
  • Caroline Hansen
  • Lamine Yamal
  • Richard Rios
  • Rodrigo Mora
  • Rasmus Hojlund
  • Erling Haaland
  • Pedro Estevao

I am sure we will get more leaks as we inch toward the release date. Most of the new cards will be added to packs, so getting them will be a matter of luck. However, we should also get additional items as part of SBCs and objectives.

FC 26 Primetime promo release countdown

The Primetime promo will be next after Ultimate Scream, which officially brings an end to the Halloween-themed content. The following countdown will expire once the promo is live in Ultimate Team on Friday, Nov. 7.

[hurrytimer id="1137075"]

As usual, EA Sports will be following the standard schedule that it applies to every promo. The countdown is based on the following timings.

  • 10am PT
  • 12pm CT
  • 1pm ET
  • 6pm BT
  • 7pm CET

The cards will be available in any pack that offers a Rare Gold player when you open them. You can try your luck with the store packs or open any that you have saved in your inventory. That said, it's always advisable to go for the SBCs and objectives if your aim is to get a guaranteed promo card.
