I remember having a chat with my old barber last year about the Skate trailer. We weren't concerned with the popular gripes. We were just stoked to record new edits and re-enter the classic Skate flowstate on a new engine that would hopefully have more grounded physics. My barber happened to be the frontman of Syracuse straight-edge hardcore band All 4 All. This was a punk rock barbershop, and fittingly, we both shared a fixation on landing tricks in Skate 3 as sketchy as possible.

To land sketchy is to land imperfectly, to look as if not in control. The leather jacket-wearing, kitchen-tattooing pro skaters in Baker, Zero, and Emerica videos were famous for making sketchy look really cool in the early 00s. I no longer live in Syracuse, but I imagine my old barber (shout out Sam, hope you're well) is just as disappointed as I that the new Skate doesn't even allow players to land sketchy.

The Steam Frame, a new VR headset Valve just announced alongside a new Steam Machine and Steam Controller, is both a simpler and more complex virtual reality kit than 2019's Valve Index. While it lacks the Index's fancy finger-tracking controllers, the hybrid headset can run Steam games straight from its own onboard storage, aided by controllers that adopt a more conventional gamepad (or Steam Deck)-style layout. The Frame's goal, therefore, is to let its wearers play as many VR and non-VR games as possible – with its ARM-based Snapdragon chip posing both challenges and opportunities to spread that compatibility into Android VR games as well.

anby soldier 0 sh figuarts figure

A SH Figuarts action figure of Anby (Soldier 0) from Zenless Zone Zero will come out. While there is no release window yet for when people can buy it, you'll be able to see a prototype of it during the Tamashii Nation 2025 event, which will run from November 14 to 16, 2025.

So far, the only picture of the figure we have is of an unpainted prototype. We can see that the Anby figure is posing like she does in her in-game portrait. Since this is an SH Figuarts action figure, though, you'll be able to customize the pose if this is not how you want to display Anby in your home.

Bandai Namco also recently showed off an upcoming SH Figuarts figure of Sailor Moon. This figure already has a painted prototype, and it will also appear at Tamashii Nation 2025 from November 14 to 16, 2025. However, since this one is further along development, we know when to expect more news about its price or release window. We will have to wait a little longer for Bandai Namco to announce further details about the Anby one.

In Zenless Zone Zero, Anby is a member of the Cunning Hares odd-job agency. This version of Anby has her donning her old uniform from when she was captain of the Silver Squad. She is an S-rank Electric Attack agent when she's Soldier 0. In comparison, the default Anby—whom all players can receive for free—is an A-rank Electric Stun unit.

Zenless Zone Zero is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. More information on the Anby (Soldier 0) SH Figuarts action figure will come out in the future.

Review: Yakuza Kiwami 2 Tells a Strong Story on Switch 2

Sega is making up for lost time with its run of Switch and Switch 2 Yakuza releases, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 is the latest entry taking its turn. The good news is, it works well on the Switch 2! It is as welcome and competent an addition as Yakuza 0 Director's Cut. If you already own a copy elsewhere, there's no real reason to double dip, but it's a great addition to the library of a system that's only just getting games in this series.

Kazuma Kiryu seemed like he earned a chance at a peaceful life after the events of the original Yakuza Kiwami. He's forever connected to the Dojima and Tojo, of course. But he's raising Haruka Sawamura now and perhaps getting a chance at a normal life. By perhaps, I mean definitely not, as Tojo Chairman Yukio Terada comes to him to for aid in halting a potential war against the Omi Alliance. When Terada is assassinated by the members of the Omi's Go-Ryu Clan, Kiryu gets pulled back in proper as he looks to bring Daigo Dojima, son of Sohei Dojima, back in as the new chairman while also dealing with Go-Ryu leader and Dragon of Kansai Ryuji Goda.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhdP1siwpsA

Meanwhile, on the Goro Majima side of things, we get a dedicated campaign for him in Yakuza Kiwami 2 on the Switch 2. It deals with the him dealing with additional Tojo Can reformation, the assassination of Akinobu Uematsu. This sends him around Kamurocho and Sotenbori in the same way Kiryu is during his storyline, as he deals with his own lose ends, closes out a storyline from Yakuza 0, and heads toward his future with Majima Construction.

Before I get into this proper, I want to establish something. The Switch 2 version of Yakuza Kiwami 2 isn't like the Yakuza 0 Director's Cut. This is the version of the existing game, just on another console.

To start, I really adore the story in Yakuza Kiwami 2 and think it shows a real sense of progression both in terms of the Tojo family's growth, Kiryu and Majima's identities, and the rivalry with the Omi Alliance. While Majima is depicted as something of a rival in the original Yakuza, he ends up a friendly one. I love Ryuji Goda as a character for his passion, determination, and background that almost feels like it parallels Kiryu's own origins and personality. Not to mention the fights between them and the fact that he doesn't resort to cheap tactics help this rivalry and storyline stand out. Add to it the influence of Daigo Dojima and his role, and it leads to a narrative that feels on par with the original. I'd even say sometimes the substories and main missions are a bit entertaining and better.

In terms of progression, Yakuza Kiwami 2 feels a lot like the previous game, only with Kamurocho and Sotenburi as cities to explore. Mainline missions involve a lot of exposition with insight and pretty fantastic Japanese voice acting. Substories deliver a lot of heartfelt moments and silly scenes. There is still the Cabaret to run, classic minigames like the batting cages, darts, golf, and karaoke return. Club Sega is still there as an arcade, with games like Virtua Fighter there. We can also connect with Haruka during some parts. Battles are the active beat'em ups we remember, with Kiryu relying upon the Dragon style for Heat Actions, rush combos and harder hitting attacks, and Charge Attacks being a staple for dealing more powerful versions of standard light and heavy attacks.

Since we are dealing with a Switch 2 version of Yakuza Kiwami 2, which we already know is a pretty great entry in the series, the real question here is how this version holds up. In terms of visuals, it looks pretty good! I think it is better looking than Yakuza Kiwami on the original Switch. However, I don't think we're hitting the PS5 and PC heights at parts, and I felt it visually seemed more comparable to the PS4 version when it came to the Switch 2 version.

Likewise, I feel it's on par with that for performance. Framerate does seem like it dips a bit when there are a lot of enemies present in smaller spaces with lots of possible items to pick up for attacks. It's generally stable when wandering around Kamurocho and Sotenburi, taking on typical challenges. It seemed like the framerate also remained consistent when going through a minigame or substory.

The Switch 2 port of Yakuza Kiwami 2 is an absolutely fine option for a newcomer to go with when picking up entries in the series. The story offers its own complexities and can go a little deeper into some nuances now that we're familiar with Kazuma Kiryu and yakuza clans in general. The combat flows and includes upgrades from later entries and Kiwami releases. We're able to go to Kamurocho and Sotenbori. Goro Majima gets his own campaign. While the appearance and performance is closer to the PS4 version of Yakuza Kiwami 2 than the PS5 one, it still runs fairly well and looks good on the Switch 2. It's a handy way to catch up.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is available on the Switch 2. You can also find it on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Samus Metroid Prime 4

Every once in a while, the gaming industry saves a large release for the December holiday rush. And since 2025 has already been so great for full games, why not have just one more?

It appears that, in a year full of incredible game releases, Nintendo has one more banger left for us at the beginning of December with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Last week, I was invited by Nintendo to try out Samus Aran's latest adventure at a special event in New York City, and after some hands-on time, I'm pretty confident that we have yet another awesome AAA release to go before the calendar flips.

Samus Aran motorcycle Metroid Prime 4
Image via Nintendo

First up, I was invited to try out the opening intro sequence to the FPS title that Nintendo revealed earlier this year. Samus has been called to help protect a special artifact under siege by space pirates, and wouldn't you know it, things go awry.

On first impression, Metroid Prime 4 is a stunning game, visually. It can be played at 4K resolution and 60fps, or 1080p and 120fps in Docked mode on the Nintendo Switch 2, or 1080p and 60 FPS/720p and 120fps in Handheld mode. The imagery is crystal clear, buttery smooth, and colorful, creating the best-looking Metroid game yet, especially in Docked mode on a big screen.

As is the case in basically every Metroid, Samus shows up to help out the Galactic Federation fully kitted with her maxed-out suit, but something goes awry. This time, it is in the gift of a Psychic Crystal from an ancient alien race known as the Lamorn. This crystal opens up a whole new world of abilities and discovery for Samus as she's sent on a quest to help the Lamorn as their "chosen one," but equipping the crystal on her visor strips her of some of her base abilities, like Missiles and Double Jump.

In true Metroid fashion, Samus must then power up with new abilities found all over the planet of Viewros, hunting down five keys to gain a special item atop a mysterious tower to help spread the Lamorn's legacy and message. It begins with the first area of the game, a lush jungle called Fury Green, filled with flora and fauna out to kill you.

Metroid Prime 4 offers multiple control schemes, including the JoyCon 2's mouse controls or even gyroscopic controls, which makes it feel like a light gun shooter where you use the right JoyCon to aim at the screen. I still prefer using the Pro Controller method, but the ability to swap between the schemes is nice.

Fury Green Metroid Prime 4

The first ability I found after mowing through some enemies is a Psychic Glove, which basically grants Samus telekinetic abilities. By pressing the X button, Samus enables the psychic version of her visor that allows her to see special psychic orbs and doorways that can be interacted with, using the glove to open doorways or solve puzzles to advance in the direction of her objectives. Using the visor to scan the environment is vital in figuring out where to go or what to do next.

Along the way, I met a new NPC named Myles Mackenzie and saved his nerdy engineer life from some local aliens. I then escorted him to the next area, where he was able to use his tech skills to help me regain my Missiles and the next ability, the Control Beam.

The Control Beam fires a guidable projectile that you can pilot through areas that Samus normally wouldn't be able to gain access to, and I used it to fly the beam through a hole in a wall to open up a door from the opposite side. None of this function is readily apparent, however, so it takes some visor scanning and trial-and-error to figure out, further making the game feel like a puzzler at times.

With Myles' help, I ended up at a boss fight with a giant piranha plant-like alien creature named Carvex. To deal damage, I had to use Missiles to break armored joints on its tentacle arms to expose them to damage, and then combo that with the Control Beam to fly the projectile into them to break the arms and open up its belly-like weak point, all while dodging projectiles and melee attacks.

Taking down Carvex rewards the Psychic Bomb ability, which is Samus's classic Morph Ball Bomb with a twist: when placing it, you can then use the Psychic Glove and visor to pick them up and put them in out-of-reach places. I used this ability to open up my way to the next area, but that's when the demo came to an end.

Metroid Prime 4 Psychic Glove
Image via Nintendo

I must admit, this was my first Metroid Prime gameplay experience, although I have watched videos to catch up on the lore and story. I've played several other 2D Metroid titles (Metroid Fusion and Metroid Dread are two of my favorite games ever), but now I feel compelled to go back and try the rest because Metroid Prime 4: Beyond feels like it may very well be destined for more critical acclaim, judging from the hour-plus I've played.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on Dec. 4.

Control Tower in terminal in ARC Raiders

Snap and Salvage is a new quest you can complete in ARC Raiders if you have access to the map, and the tasks can be pretty tricky.

With Stella Montis now unlocked, we can gain access to the quests exclusive to the region. The Snap and Salvage is the third quest in the Stella Montis storyline that you gain from Tian Wen. The tasks of the quest will send you on a tour along the new map.

ARC Raiders Snap and Salvage quest walkthrough

The Snap and Salvage quest can be broken down into four parts.

  • Take a Photo of any of the Rovers in the Sandbox.
  • Search the papers in the Security Checkpoint room by the Lobby.
  • Deliver a Magnetron to Tian Wen.
  • Deliver a Flow Controller to Tian Wen.

Rover location

The first task is to find a Rover, located in the Robotics Sandbox. To reach the point, you'll have to go to the base floor or press E for the alternate map view. Go through the entrance to the Sandbox region and take the path that goes straight.

Rover location in Stella Montis
Rover location in Stella Montis. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid

The path in front of you will take you straight to Robotic Sandbox. I have marked the location of the Rover as well. Once you find the Rover, stand close to it, and you'll be able to take a snap of it. From the entrance, you'll first have to go straight, and you'll come across a window on your right. You can either use the lift or just jump down to reach the middle of the Sandbox (where the Rover is located).

Paper Location

To find the security papers, go to the Lobby area of the map. Then, you'll come across a breachable door behind the Security desk (right from the scanner). The door is right at the corner of the room behind the desk. Breach the door, go straight (a few steps), and you'll find a U-shaped table to your right. The security papers will be on the table.

Security Papers location in the Lobby

I have marked the exact location where the papers can be found.

Magnetron and Flow Controllers locations

Getting the Magnetron and Flow Controllers is entirely random, and they're new Exodus materials added to ARC Raiders. Your best bet is to search as many containers as possible in the Stella Montis map.

While I found Magnetron in a container at the Security Checkpoint room, the Flow Controller came from the Cafeteria region. I believe that the locations are completely random, and you'll have to search thoroughly to find them.

Android in ARC Raiders

In My Image is the first ARC Raiders quest that's exclusive to the Stella Montis region, and it's a relatively easy one.

The new quest begins once you obtain it from Lance. He requires you to look for three Androids spread across the Stella Montis map. This guide will help you clear any doubts you might have regarding completing the quest.

ARC Raiders In My Image quest walkthrough

The In My Image quest can be broken down into two main tasks.

  • Go to Stella Montis.
  • Find and Search 3 Androids.

The first part of the task is pretty apparent, and there's not much to discuss. Stella Montis is available as of writing, and you'll be able to access it pretty easily. It's the second task that can be quite confusing.

The Androids are fallen robot bodies that you can find all around Stella Montis. They appear to be present in almost every POI you can find inside the map. The best spots appear to be the Lobby and Business Center, which had the highest number of Androids on the floor. Their positions could vary slightly based on the round and the timing of the raid.

Androids locations in ARC Raiders
Android's locations in ARC Raiders. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid

I have marked three locations on the map where I managed to find Androids on my raids. Certain areas, like the Lobby, have more than one Android. To complete the quest, you'll have to search any three of them by standing close to them.

If you stand close to an Android and don't get the option to search, it just means that someone has already searched it as part of the quest. You'll have to find an alternate one to proceed with the quest.

ARC Raiders In My Image quest rewards

Here's a complete list of rewards you'll get from completing In My Image.

  • Looting Mk. 2
  • Green Light Stick.

Once you're done, the next step is to complete Cold Storage, followed by Snap and Salvage.

Stella Montis map in ARC Raiders

Cold Storage is the second quest in the Stella Montis storyline in ARC Raiders, and it can be a hard one to complete.

The latest quest is obtained from Shani, who wants you to find a specific item. The location of the item can be quite challenging to decode if you don't know where to look. This guide will help you complete the quest without any hassle.

ARC Raiders Cold Storage quest walkthrough

The Cold Storage quest can be broken down into two main parts.

  • Search any J Kozma Ventures container.
  • Deliver the Rare Books to Shani.

The trick is to complete both tasks in one round, which requires you to extract successfully with the quest item. The quest item for this mission is inside the J Kozma Ventures container, which can be found in the Lobby Area. There are chances of more containers being spread around the map, so make sure to scout your surroundings properly.

Container location on Stella Montis

From there, take the stairs that go down to the Metro Station at the Lobby. There's a nearby extract zone as well, which is going to be immensely helpful. There are a bunch of containers at this location where I am, right opposite the Metro entrance. Go close to one, and you'll get a chance to interact with them.

The containers will have Su Durante written on them. Once you interact with the container, you'll add a quest item to your inventory. Immediately move it to your safe pocket in case you die while trying to complete the quest.

Cold Storage quest rewards in ARC Raiders

Hand it over to Shani once you're back on Speranza, and the Cold Storage quest will be complete.

ARC Raiders Cold Storage quest rewards

Here are the rewards of the Cold Storage quest.

  • Three Gas Mines
  • One Raider Hatch Key.

I have used four tiers to classify the weapons that are available in the Zombies mode (The Zombies mode uses the same weapons that are available in the Co-Op campaign and Multiplayer).

  • S-tier weapons are the best possible choices in the current meta, and they're the standout performers in their respective categories.
  • A-tier weapons might be slightly weaker than the S-tier choices, but they can be pretty effective with the correct builds.
  • B-tier weapons are average choices that will require a lot of time for you to master them.
  • C-tier weapons are below-average options that should be avoided as much as possible (unless you love using them for some reason).

Here's a quick rundown of the tier list before I deep dive into my decision. Do note that this is a very early tier list, and a lot of assessment has been based on how the guns performed during the beta. I will keep changing the tier list as the meta changes in the future, and as I test the guns more thoroughly.

Tier Choices
S-Tier Peacekeeker MK1, AK-27, Dravec 45, M8A1, Carbon 57
A-tier Shadow SK, DS20 Mirage, Warden 308, VS Recon
B-tier X9 Maverick, MPC-25, M15 Mod 0, Ryden 45K, M10 Breacher, XM325, M34 Novaline
C-tier MK. 78, RK-9, Razor 9mm, Akita, Echo 12, XR-3 ION

S-tier

Gun Unlock Level Type Reason
Peacekeeper MK1 Level 52 AR A gun that shoots at that rate is an SMG and an AR packed in one. The Peacekeeper MK1 is one of the best guns to unlock early, and it's extremely beginner-friendly thanks to its range and recoil.
AK-27 Level 4 AR The AK-27 is one of the best early-game AR in the entire game, and more so in zombies. It's a great all-rounder that has few weaknesses.
Dravec 45 Level 34 SMG The Dravec 45 is very similar to Peacekeeper in terms of its hybrid attributes. It has a significantly better range than SMGs, without losing any of the merits. It's another great choice for the early permanent unlock using tokens.
M8A1 Level 10 Marksman Rifle If you love burst-fire sniper rifles instead of traditional ones, the M8A1 is a great choice. It has great damage output and firing rate, and the recoil can be improved with the right build.
Carbon 57 Level 46 SMG If you're the type of player who likes to fire a lot, the Carbon 57 is your ideal gun. With increased ammo and excellent all-around abilities, the Carbon 57 is perfect in Zombies, as the reduced firing rate doesn't matter.

A-tier

Gun Unlock Level Type Reason
Shadow SK Level 13 Sniper Rifle The Shadow SK doesn't feel like an easy weapon to master, but it has all the right attributes. It hits hard, but the increased fire rate and mag size allow you to keep firing consistently. I have been having a slightly hard time with its aiming system, but it's closer to S-tier than you might think.
DS20 Mirage Level 37 Assault Rifle Another great AR that you can use well in any mode, including zombies. It has a decent firing rate, damage, and range, and it can easily clear waves with a few attachments.
Warden 308 Level 25 Marksman Rifle The Warden 308 would be ranked higher if it offered better range, which is its only weakness. However, it's reliable and great for use in medium range (a situation that arises quite a lot in the Zombies mode).
VS Recon Level 4 Sniper Rifle A great weapon that's reliable in damage and decent when it comes to the firing rate. It's also unlocked very early, making it quite accessible.

B-tier

Gun Unlock Level Type Reason
X9 Maverick Level 28 Assault Rifle The X9 Maverick is a great burst-fire rifle that shoots efficiently and at all times. However, I am not a fan of this firing style in the Zombies mode. However, you can do wonders with this if you can aim consistently and adequately land critical hits.
MPC-25 Level 55 SMG While the MPC-25 shines in the damage department, it lacks in recoil and range. Additionally, it will take a lot of time for players to unlock.
M15 Mod 0 Level 4 Assault Rifle An A-tier weapon for beginners, there are better assault rifles mentioned in the tiers above that do more damage, fire more consistently, and/or offer better range.
Ryden 45K Level 4 SMG Similar to the M15 Mod 0, there are better SMGs compared to the Ryden as you increase your player levels.
M10 Breacher Level 4 Shotgun I love this Shotgun even though it's the beginner option available very early in the game. It has a good range and decent firepower (can one-shot weaker zombies if you manage to land a critical hit). However, Shotguns in general seem to be weak during my testing, which is why I have placed this gun in the B-tier.
XM325 Level 31 LMG The XM325 can be considered an auto-firing gun if you can manage to work around its cooldown. The Zombies mode does allow you to wait on your shots, but I am not a fan of using LMGs in general.
M34 Novaline Level 45 Marksman Rifle A decent choice if you love two-shot burst-fire options. I don't, and it's unlikely that such a gun will do too well against hordes of undead.

C-tier

While I have mentioned what it takes for you to unlock the following weapons, it's best to avoid them. All of them have better replacements (among the names mentioned above).

  • RK-9 (SMG - Level 7)
  • Razor 9mm (SMG - Level 19)
  • Echo 12 (Shotgun - Level 22)
  • Akita (Shotgun - Level 40)
  • XR-3 ION (Sniper Rifle - Level 43)

There are more weapons in the form of Secondaries and Melee. They will require more time to test, and any worthwhile options will be added to the table above. If you've started to deep-dive into Zombies, check out all the available camos that you can obtain by completing different achievements.
