The idea behind A Better World is interesting and the morals make sense, but the game execution could be improved.

With the concept of time travel also comes the supposition that the act could be used for the greater good. If someone who knows the outcome of certain events travels to alter them, would we be better off? Ludogram and ARTE France offers a chance to see if that could be true with the visual novel A Better World, though it quickly becomes a moral lesson both about what comes from messing with the established order and allowing a corporation that kind of power.

A Better World begins with our avatar joining the titular organization. On the surface, it operates as an insurance company. It's secretly using time travel technology to allegedly make a "better" future. We start at the lowest possible rung with the mascot "advisor" program Globos assisting us with the "easy" tutorial task "Make Someone Ordinary Extraordinary," but quickly end up dealing with larger scale decisions even in that first assignment. Doing well sends up us the ranks, making bigger scope changes to the world like eliminating junk food.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-OGlBehsy8

While we can look out the window to the right of our station in A Better World, much of the game tasks us with reading missives on a station and making decisions based on little information. For example, the best way to explain is to look at that first task. Our goal is to "Make Someone Ordinary Extraordinary," and Globos looks out the window to pick out Henry Hellman. We then go to various points in his life to make him a business, cinema, or musical icon. His parents owned a grocery store, which was about to go under, so trying to influence the course of that business via regulations or adopting a new direction are an option. When televisions end up in every home, we can embrace that. However, there's also a possible love interest and person in the same building named Anna Huang, and the effects of altering Henry's life can change hers and fulfill unknown conditions that lead to another ending that fills the requirement. Since the sweeping choices offered by the company could also affect the world, like trying to head off the JFK assassination or "banning selling products at a loss," it could also mean major tampering just to fill a small request.

Very early on, it means seeing sweeping repercussions. Which is interesting! It also means heavy-handed, implied commentary on decisions and time-traveling early on. I didn't mind this, but someone looking for nuance won't exactly see it here. The idea in A Better World is using the visual novel to offer choices that clearly have the game suggesting that choices matter and can go awry immediately.

Said repercussions are mainly brought up via dialogue on the computer screen, and it can be perfunctory. We'll get a summary of results and see how that affects our next jump or choice. So a possible outcome can be ruled out very quickly. This ensures some replayability, though it isn't very easy or fast to skip through to unseen text. Since the game itself can be completed in under three hours, that isn't a huge deal. The scene outside the right window can also shift, but I really only found that interesting when it was a big alteration.

There are some elements of A Better World that made me wish there was either more to it or that elements were handled better. It isn't really well optimized for a controller, though it can run on a handheld gaming PC like a Lenovo Legion Go with no issues. This can make toggling through all the console buttons a bit cumbersome. I also wish there was a designated Globos button so I could tap that to check in with her or continue her commentary, since there are a lot of times when you need to consult with the mascot in order to advance the story. Since there isn't a designated button, that means moving back from the terminal, moving to look at her and focus on the mascot, click, then turn back to the console, focus again, and return.

I also think A Better World would benefit from more information being offered for each major decision in the game. Considering the choices we make affect the future and this is a company with access to time travel, I suppose I expected a little more insight or opportunities to get context for the choices I'd make to meet goals. Especially if some of the elements involved moments in actual history. Instead, we're occasionally offered only a sentence or two. A little more insight into individuals, locations, and situations would be great, as otherwise decisions can feel rather arbitrary until you make one that sends you to a premature end and forces you to rewind.

The idea behind A Better World is interesting and the morals make sense, but the game's execution could be improved. A little more time could have been spent building up to the choices and better explaining and sitting with the repercussions so our ensuing decisions carried more weight. A few quality of life adjustments that would make it easier to go through when replaying or move things along at a better pace would be appreciated too. The ideas explored and way of handling situations is thought-provoking, at the very least, and the free demo should help someone see if it is for them.

A Better World is available for PCs, and there is a free demo for the game on the official site.

the forge crafting explained

In this The Forge crafting guide I'll explain how the entire crafting system works as well as some advanced tips like armor variations (Dark Knight/Samurai) and Ore trait combos. This guide is meant for beginners but non-beginners might also learn something useful. Here's my complete The Forge crafting guide.

The Forge Crafting Explained

Here's a run down of how crafting works in The Forge:

  • Weapon Basics: Once you start adding ores and have 3 you can craft a Dagger class weapons and from there the more Ore you add the more chance you have to craft "larger" class weapons. The number of ores you put in doesn't increase the stats of the weapon, just the size category. "Larger" size category weapons tend to have more base damage but less attack speed while it's the opposite for "smaller" categories. For a full breakdown of size categories check out our Weapon tier list.
  • Armor Basics: It's a similar case for armor as well except the size categories are Helmet as the smallest then Leggings then Chestplate as you add more Ore. Then you move into the next tier which is weight so it goes from Light (Helmet>Leggings>Chestplate) to Medium to Heavy. For Armor, the larger and heavier the more Defense/Health you get so go for Heavy if you can.
  • Weapon Variations: There are different weapon variations within each weapon category. For example the Dagger category has Daggers, Gladius Daggers and Hooks and you'll see the odds of crafting a specific variation on the left. Let's say you put in 5 ores so that your crafting chance is 86% for Daggers and 14% for Straight Swords. Whatever category you get, the game will then roll another number to determine what variation in that category you will get. Some variations are locked behind a certain level to unlock.
  • Armor Variations: These work similarly to Weapon Variations however variations like the Dark Knight set or the Samurai can only be crafted on Island 2, not Island 1.
  • Optimal Crafting Chances and Ore Requirements: Below you'll find a table of how much Ore you need for each weapon and armor category

Item Min Ore Optimal Ore
Dagger 3 3
Straight Sword 4 8
Gauntlet 7 11
Katana 9 15
Great Sword 12 20
Great Axe 16 37
Colossal Sword 21 46
Light Armor 3 3 (For Helmet, More for Leggings/Chest)
Medium Armor 10 (Helmet) 17
Heavy Armor 20 (Helmet) 46

Pro Tip: Here's how to farm money in The Forge.

Ore Multipliers Explained

Each Ore has a Multiplier that modifies the base stats of weapons/armor you forge like Damage or Defense. The higher rarity Ore you use the higher the multiplier and the higher the damage/defense. If you're mixing different Ores with different multipliers the game will use the average so the combined sum of the multipliers divided by the number of different multipliers. So if you put in a few ores that have a multiplier of x2 and a few ores that have a multiplier of 1x the end result will be a 1.5x multiplier. Better ores have higher multipliers.

For weapon buffs the ore with the higher amount in the bunch gives all the buffs from the ore rarity. If you put in 15 common ores and 3 Legendary ores you get no buffs from the Legendary ore. But if you put in 10 Legendary ores and 6 common ones you'll get buffs from the legendary ore.

Check out all The Forge Ore Stats and Locations for details on each one.

Ore Traits

Some of the Ores I listed below in a table have special traits that apply to your weapons and armor when you craft them using these Ores. You need at least 10% to 15% of the ore with a trait when forging for that item to have the trait once crafted. The optimal amount is to have 30% for the best stats from the trait. For example, if you want armor with the Obsidian Defense trait and you want to craft it using 10 Ores, 3 Ores should be Obsidian for the optimal trait effect. Here are all Ores that have traits.

Dark Knight and Samurai Armor Variations

  • the forge dark knight and samurai armor variants
  • the forge dark knight heavy armor variant

There are two Armor variations which are the Dark Knight Heavy Armor variant and the Samurai Medium Armor variant. These can only be crafted on Island 2 since they don't show up as options on Island 1. There's no variation for Light armor even on Island 2. The odds for these special armor options are usually 1/2 instead of the default 1/1 for base variations. Both Dark Knight and Samurai give more Health than the base version of the armor. For example, see the picture above comparing the base Heavy Armor Knight Chestplate and the Dark Knight Chestplate.

That's it for my The Forge crafting guide. Check out my The Forge race tier list for more guides.

Players celebrating a goal in FC 26

The Thunderstruck promo is all set to arrive in FC 26 Ultimate Team, and it could be the start of something amazing.

The Thunderstruck promo officially marks the start of the Black Friday celebrations, and it could be the perfect time for you to play the game. So far, EA Sports has remained tight-lipped about the promo and which players will be part of it.

Thanks to social media leaks, we have a fair idea of which promo cards should be part of the first team.

All FC 26 Thunderstruck team 1 players (leaks)

A fair number of names have already been leaked at the time of writing. If the rumors are true, we should be getting special cards for active footballers and icons.

  • Jamal Musiala

  • Diego Maradona
  • Eusebio
  • Jude Bellingham
  • Pedro Neto
  • Paolo Maldini
  • Franck Ribery

FC 26 Thunderstruck Team 1 release countdown

The Thunderstruck promo will replace the FC Pro Live campaign currently live in Ultimate Team. Team 1 will be coming to Ultimate Team on Friday, Nov. 28, based on EA Sports' usual schedule. The following countdown will enable you to keep track of when the cards go live.

the forge monke quest guide

This guide will cover both how to find the Monke in The Forge as well as accepting and completing his quest. It's one of the easiest quests in the game but finding the Monke is a bit tricky if you don't know where to look. Here's my full The Forge Monkey quest guide and how to get the Monke Business badge.

How to Find the Monke in The Forge

  • monke business badge guide the forge
  • how to find monke in the forge

To accept the Monke quest you'll first have to find him and he's located on Island 2 Forgotten Kingdom near the starting spawn. To find the Monke in The Forge simply turn around from the original spawn and face the sea. Then, swim to the second small island in a row to the right. The Monke will be on the second small island behind a rock.

Talk to him and he'll ask you to bring him Bananite and you can choose three options based on how much Bananite you want to give him. The three options here basically just list how much gold and EXP you'll get for the quest, you'll get the Monke Business Badge either way no matter how much Bananite you bring back.

How to Complete Monke Quest in The Forge

To finish the Monke Quest you'll simply need to go back to Island 1/World 1 and farm Rocks and Boulders for Bananite. You need to get as many Bananite Ores as the option you chose when talking to the Monke and accepting his quest. All Bananite stats are found in our all Ores list.

Basically, you can farm Bananite with any Pickaxe except the starting one since it drops from both Rocks and Boulders. The drop chance is 1/30 so Rocks are faster but if you have a higher-tier Pickaxes that one shots or two-shot Boulders then go for those. Once you have enough, simply go back to Island 2 and bring them to the Monke to get gold, EXP and the Monke Business Badge achievement in Roblox.

That's it for my guide on how to complete the Monke quest in The Forge. Check out our Race Tier List for more The Forge guides.

the forge money farming guide

The Forge like many Roblox RPGs is quite grindy so you'll need a lot of money/gold for all the pickaxes and progression. The end-game pickaxes cost 120k/150k and even the Goblin Quest requires 85k to complete. That's why I'll show you various methods on how to farm money in The Forge fast.

How to Farm Money in The Forge

I'll quickly list the best methods to farm money in The Forge and then below I'll go into more depth and tips for each method:

  1. Forge Heavy Armor and Colossal Weapons & sell them (More on this below)
  2. Farm Monster Essence and sell them (More on this below)
  3. Main quest progression and claiming Index entry unlocks
  4. Don't waste gold/money on buying all pickaxes (Go Platinum>Cobalt>Mythril>Arcane)
  5. (Optional) Have the Goblin race when buying expensive Pickaxes for a 12% discount

These are the basics so let's now go into the details.

Heavy Armor/Colossal Money Farm Method

The highest value piece of gear you can craft and sell are the Heavy Armors and Colossal Swords so they're a great method to farm money in The Forge. They have the best base selling price since they use the most ore and it's a better profit to make them and sell them than to sell the ores you use to make them. Just keep making them and selling them for a lot of cash. Here's the ore you need to make Heavy Armor and Colossal Swords:

  • Heavy Armor: The minimum amount of Ore you need is 20 but the optimal number is 46 for the best chance.
  • Colossal Sword: The minimum amount of Ore you need is 21 but the optimal number is 46 for the best chance.

Just keep farming the best Ore you can access with your current Pickaxe level and I recommend the Dwarf race for faster mining and as many Miner Shard runes as you can slot. Always go for the highest rarity Rock Node that you can find Boulder>Basalt>Volcanic Rock/Crystal. These will give you the best ores with the highest multipliers.

Item Min Ore Optimal Ore
Dagger 3 3
Straight Sword 4 8
Gauntlet 7 11
Katana 9 15
Great Sword 12 20
Great Axe 16 37
Colossal Sword 21 46
Light Armor 3 3 (For Helmet, More for Leggings/Chest)
Medium Armor 10 (Helmet) 17
Heavy Armor 20 (Helmet) 46

Monster Essence Money Farm Method

Another equally profitable gold farming method is to farm Monsters for Essence drops which you can then sell for a ton of gold. Get a strong DPS race like Shadow/Orc for beginners and Demon/Angel/Dragonborn for best damage as well as the best runes like Blaze Chip and Drain Edge. Also, craft a weapon with the highest modifier Ore you can find and use special Ores for traits which you can see in our all Ores list.

From there go into the highest level area you can access but I recommend the Volcanic region for Elite Essence which you can reach in the caves of W2 as in the picture above. Once you enter the Volcanic region you can farm Elite Skeleton Rogues and Deathaxes for the highest value essence. That said, you'll be okay with farming pretty much any monsters you can handle at your current level. After a while just go back to town, sell all the essences and continue farming to amass a lot cash.

All of these methods will also give you a fair amount of EXP so you'll be farming levels a bit too. That's it for my The Forge money farm guide and all farming methods. Check out our The Forge codes for free rewards.
