PCGamesN Wednesday, January 15, 2025 7:21 AM  Path of Exile 2 developer Grinding Gear Games has apologized for a "lapse in security" that helped an attacker gain access to and view the information of a "significant number of [player] accounts." The attacker apparently set random passwords for some players, viewed private information, and even looked at some message history. PCGamesN Wednesday, January 15, 2025 7:19 AM  Asus has just unveiled a new graphics card connector that does away with the power cables and sockets of conventional cards, and instead relies on a motherboard slot to deliver power, able to deliver up to 1,000W. The new Asus graphics card connector is an extension of the company's back-to-the-future (BTF) connection system it unveiled a couple of years ago, but this time the company has thought about how to make the system more powerful and more compatible. Asus unveiled BTF at the tail end of 2023, with the system designed to do away with cables in the front of a PC, and instead have the best graphics cards of the world draw their power from a connection on the motherboard. The problem with the first iteration of the design, though, was that BTF graphics cards couldn't fit in non-BTF motherboards, making it a very restricted system. PCGamesN Wednesday, January 15, 2025 7:16 AM  Free Steam FPS Delta Force has big plans for 2025, and right at the top of the list is the arrival of its campaign. The paid single-player story mode, Black Hawk Down, draws inspiration from both the beloved Ridley Scott movie and the 2003 Delta Force game of the same name. While it shouldn't be considered a direct remake of the previous entry, but rather a reboot, developer Team Jade promises that it will "bring back great memories" of the older games in the series. We're going to be waiting a little longer for it, however, as the team works on "polishing and optimization" for the new mode. Each one automatically bestows Caretaker reputation points upon pickup, letting you increase the power level of all weapons in Bioware's fantasy RPG. There are 182 mementos in Dragon Age The Veilguard, and you need at least 140 to upgrade your equipment to the maximum power level. You can spot mementos in the RPG game by their tell-tale blue glow. I maintain that Forspoken wasn't really that bad, and that Redfall could have been great if it had just gotten a little bit of TLC. My list of 'bad World of Warcraft opinions' is also pretty extensive, but perhaps the worst is my compulsion to go to bat over Plunderstorm. While WoW's pirate-themed battle royale mode launched to a somewhat lukewarm reception, I loved it from the very moment I started playing, despite my vehement hatred for PvP. Fun, ferentic, and genuinely innovative, I'm beyond excited to announce that WoW Plunderstorm is back, and somehow it's even better than before. Both Assassin's Creed Origins and Valhalla have been patched to get around the game-breaking Microsoft operating system patch, but a fix for Odyssey is nowhere to be found. A boomer shooter in the style of Doom, Half-Life, Quake, and other '90s classics, Fortune's Run has accumulated a high 92% positive rating on Steam. Team Fortune's lead developer, Dizzie, has been handed a three year sentence for a "violent crime", following around five years of legal proceedings. The other developer, Arachne, recently left game development after recovering from a mishandled surgical procedure last year. According to Dizzie, her departure doesn't have anything to do with the aforesaid violent crime, which pre-dates their relationship. |

Just me? I need to get out the mould spray more often. OK, how about when you were a kid and you lifted up a nice, round stone and the damp, fertile soil beneath writhed away from you in a fervent knotting of pellucid, boneless bodies and the tickling of a thousand little legs? Right. Anoxia Station is that and also, a turn-based strategy game about drilling for oil. The recently released Itch.io demo is rough around the edges, but I do adore the vibe. |
