Destiny 2 Star Wars collab turns your Guardian into a stormtrooper

Jumping on the crossover bandwagon as a live service game can go one of two ways. You can either churn out a poorly-priced, mediocre collab that doesn't exactly align with your style and aesthetics. Or, you can bring players a collab so irresistible that nothing else really matters. Destiny 2's next crossover certainly leans towards the latter, because a lineup of Star Wars themed armor sets and cosmetics are hitting the space shooter soon.

Balatro proved that with enough thought, anything can become a roguelike. It doesn't matter if you've got a deck of cards, mahjong tiles, or just some dice, because all of them can be turned into an endlessly replayable loop of utter perfection. While I love the combat-focused Hades, Enter the Gungeon, and Dead Cells, these aren't the only forms a roguelike can take. In fact, it turns out you can take something as ubiquitous as chess, and put it right in the middle of the genre. This is exactly what Passant does, and its brand-new demo already has me hooked.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti reportedly en route, in 8GB and 16GB versions

While there's plenty of buzz about the RTX 5090 doing the rounds at the moment, we've also just spotted a leak about a much cheaper GPU that looks set to come in two flavors. A graphics card filing for the Eurasian Economic Commission appears to reveal that the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is in the works and that it will come in versions with 8GB or 16GB of VRAM.

If that's true, then it follows the same strategy Nvidia took with the card's predecessor. However, as we found in our RTX 4060 Ti review, this card's 8GB of VRAM was at the upper limit of what you need to max out the settings in the latest games. With the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle system requirements requiring 12GB of VRAM to max out the game at 1080p, you'll want the 16GB version of this card if you really want to enable the eye candy.

Gamers won't be able to buy an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 for $999, leakers suggest

The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 graphics cards reportedly won't be available for the $999 MSRP, and it's apparently all down to low profit margins for third-party card manufacturers. That's according to comments made on social media by hardware leakers, who suggest this particular Nvidia GPU is priced too low compared to the cost of manufacturing a card, with third-party graphics card makers struggling to make it work at the suggested price.

Nvidia is looking to continue to dominate the best graphics card market with its new GPUs, with recent leaked RTX 5080 benchmarks placing it ahead of the RTX 4080 Super. However, a troubled storm of RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 stock shortages, along with very high demand, could make these cards particularly hard to obtain for some time, especially at the prices that Nvidia is setting itself.

New Ryzen CPU beats laptop Nvidia RTX 4070 with no graphics card, claims AMD

There's already been a lot of hype around the upcoming launch of AMD's Strix Halo laptop CPUs, with the specs suggesting the chip's integrated Radeon GPU will be faster than the one in the PS5. Now a new scalp has been claimed, as AMD is suggesting the integrated graphics on this AMD Ryzen gaming laptop CPU is fast enough to outrun a laptop-grade Nvidia RTX 4070.

Strix Halo is the internal codename for a new design of AMD chip that has now been announced as the Ryzen AI Max class of laptop CPUs. Destined to be used in some of the best gaming laptop designs in the future, as well as mobile workstations, the new Ryzen AI Max chips stand apart from most gaming laptop designs, as instead of using a normal CPU and a separate gaming GPU chip, Strix Halo incorporates a powerful GPU into the same package as the CPU. This should make for much more compact and power-efficient gaming laptops, while also having enough speed to outdo an RTX 4070.

Destiny 2 codes for free emblems and shaders

What are all the active Destiny 2 codes? Emblems are essential to authentic Guardian flair. Pokemon TCG Pocket Download

In a report from Sensor Tower, Pokemon TCG Pocket ended up being the most downloaded mobile game in the Japanese market in the second half of 2024. Given the popularity of the Pokemon series, this shouldn't come as a surprise, but it did generate a large source of revenue for The Pokemon Company as a result. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

More specifically, outside of being the most downloaded mobile game in the second half of 2024, Pokemon TCG Pocket topped the rankings for overall revenue growth. The mobile card game released worldwide on October 30, 2024. While it features a simplified version of the card game's more robust systems, players can also collect cards and show them off via their in-game profiles. As a result, making it appealing to both the card game player and the collector.

According to a report from GamesIndustry.bz, Pokemon TCG Pocket earned over $120 million in revenue not even a month after release. Within the first four days of release it had already made roughly $4 million.

Since the release of the mobile game, there has been a steady trickle of new booster packs (and more importantly, cards) to collect. And upcoming booster pack titled Space-Time Smackdown will include starter Pokemon from the Sinnoh region such as Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is available for free on Android and iOS devices.

Trump Tariffs

On January 28, 2025 President Donald Trump announced that the United States of America is looking to place tariffs on Chinese assembled electronics and chips produced in Taiwan. Tariffs on these items could be raised as high as 100%, which would impact mobile devices and for products created by AMD and NVIDIA. [Thanks, PCMag!]

This could potentially drive prices for NVIDIA graphics cards, AMD processors, and Apple devices through the roof. As the main manufacturer in question that Trump seems to be targeting with this is TSMC – a Taiwanese semi-conductor manufacturer. While TSMC does have a factory in Arizona, a majority of it's chip production has remained in Taiwan, with TSMC sending it's chips to other Asian countries where they are then assembled to create products that will then be shipped to the United States.

In January 2021, a chip shortage resulted in continued scarcity of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The CEO of AMD shared this information, and during a presentation pointed out that both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X were reliant on a custom chip created by the company. Outside of this, AMD processors are also largely used in desktop PCs to support current generation games.

PlatinumGames Ninja Gaiden 4

In an interview with Fumihiko Yasuda, President of Team Ninja and Producer of Ninja Gaiden 4, he shared why PlatinumGames was chosen to work on this upcoming entry in what had been an otherwise dormant series. The interview also went into some detail about new characters that will appear in Ninja Gaiden 4 and some design decisions that have been made concerning it's combat. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

When asked why Team Ninja decided to collaborate with Platinum Games for Ninja Gaiden 4, Yasuda said this:

In recent years, we have produced some titles that were big challenges for us, namely Nioh 2 And Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. But over the years, we've also learned a lot by handling the IPs of other companies.. So the idea of developing Ninja Gaiden 4 with PlatinumGames, who has already produced excellent action games, was already quite attractive. That said, we are deeply involved in the development of the game. This includes Masakazu Hirayama, who was the Director of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

Yasuda went on to mention that while Team Ninja has shifted to creating more "historical RPGs," (the Nioh series and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty) that Ninja Gaiden 4 will allow the team to focus on "pure action."

When asked about the popularity of parrying and other evasive actions in action games and if Ninja Gaiden 4 will follow this trend, Yuji Nakao of PlatinumGames mentioned that while he couldn't say much yet, that there are certain attacks that will let you turn the tables on your opponent. season 1 sakamoto days

Netflix truly hit the goldmine this particular season of anime, gaining what is potentially the strongest anime of the entire Winter 2025 season. I have checked out quite a lot of new anime this season and while this Winter season is stronger than most of the seasons in 2024, there is one that stands tall above the rest. Sakamoto Days is the funniest and most heartwarming Winter 2025 anime thus far.

For those who haven't checked it out yet, Sakamoto Days follows the titular Sakamoto. A former hitman, Sakamoto left the underworld life behind him in exchange for raising a family and running his very own convenience store. Of course, his old life comes back to haunt him, as a whole swathe of the underworld now wish to eliminate him. The series follows Sakamoto and the other characters around him as he tries to protect his newfound life.

Sakamoto himself is one of the more fascinating protagonists. He says very little in the series, including a mere two lines or so in total throughout the first episode. His quieter personality lends well to this idea of a powerful but lovable teddy bear-like father vibe that he gives off. There is something endearing about how much he shows his love for his new life and family without needing to say a word.

It helps that the rest of the cast is quite talkative. Shin, in particular, is a younger former hitman that comes after Sakamoto to finish him off in the first episode. In classic anime fashion, it turns out Shin isn't that bad of a guy and he ends up joining Sakamoto in the end. Shin is life of the party, having a surprising amount of the story focus on him.

I appreciate how Sakamoto Days allows its supporting cast to thrive, like Shin. The same goes for other characters that appear later, which I won't spoil here. They each come to feel like a true misshapen family in a sense. They are characters worth rooting for. Shin and Sakamoto's wife Aoi will likely go down as some of my favorite anime characters this year.

While the story premise is quite serious in Sakamoto Days, don't let this fool you. It is actually the funniest anime series of the Winter 2025 season. There are many gags and goofy moments throughout. It helps that there are ridiculous characters like Shin. But even Sakamoto himself has hilarious scenes like catching a bullet with chopsticks.

This humorous aspect of the series pairs well with the more action-heavy sequences. After all, Sakamoto has to fight off legions of criminals. The animation style is perhaps my least favorite part of this series. It looks a bit too light on the borders and shadings, but this is part of the charm. In fact, TMS Entertainment captures the original manga style quite well, which looks like this.

Thankfully, the lighter animation style helps the action look great. The fluid nature of the less detailed animation works well with the intense fights throughout Sakamoto's convenience store, abandoned warehouses, and more. There is generally fantastic action here, evoking vibes of how Spy x Family handles its mix of action and comedy.

Even only with a few episodes available thus far, Sakamoto Days should end up as one of the best anime series of 2025. It is by far the funniest series of the Winter 2025 season, with its ridiculous set of characters and scenes. But it balances this so well with action-packed moments and heartwarming family themes. If there is one anime series that is a must-watch this season, it's Sakamoto Days.

Sakamoto Days is streaming right now on Netflix.

The Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and Harvest Moon: Skytree Village games will appear on the Switch in Natsume's Cozy Bundle.

Two of the original Harvest Moon games Natsume developed for the 3DS after it got rights to the title for the Bokujou Monogatari games will come to the Switch as Natsume's Cozy Bundle. This collection brings back Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and Harvest Moon: Skytree Village. It currently has a 2025 launch window.

As a reminder, both of these feature a more blocky and rudimentary experience. In Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, the priority involves digging into and placing blocks, as in Minecraft, to shape the way the valley in which your farm appears. As you play, you'll bring seasons back to a place that somehow stopped experiencing them. The Switch version will include the outfit, building sets, additional crops like basil, cacao, olives, and soy beans, and makes the romance options Andrea and Luke available. This version also cut back on socialization, prioritizing your actions on and around your farm.

Here's the 3DS trailer for that game, in case you forgot how it looked and worked.

The Harvest Moon: Skytree Village game in Natsume's Cozy Bundle still involves terraforming, but in this entry that means you can also get different crop variants as a result. As you play and live your new life, you'll also revive the Skytrees to restore the Harvest Goddess to full power. The DLC will also be present immediately in the Switch release, meaning you'll get access to farm decorations and the romance options Edmond and Nova.

You can watch the Harvest Moon: Skytree Village 3DS trailer below:

The announcement didn't note if there will be any special or new features available in the Switch versions of either game. However, we do know what the cover art will look like:

Natsume's Cozy Bundle with Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and Harvest Moon: Skytree Village will be on the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2025. Both games also appeared on the 3DS.

Those of us using Pokemon Home can get rare rewards for using the app as usual, as two distribution events are in effect for Shiny versions of Manaphy and Enamorus. As these are tied to progress made in the Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Switch games, it is possible you can immediately claim one or both of them. Both campaigns are live as of January 28, 2025. They are also each available worldwide.

The Shiny Manaphy is earned via getting all 151 Pokemon in the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Pokedex. If you collected and uploaded them to Pokemon Home already, you're set. You can claim the level 50 Manaphy that knows moves like Acid Armor, Bubble Beam, Water Pulse, and Whirlpool.

The Shiny Enamorus is available in Pokemon Home if the Pokemon Legends: Arceus Pokedex is complete there. That consists of 242 characters. It arrives at level 50, just like the Manaphy. Its moves include Crunch, Draining Kiss, Extrasensory, and Moonblast.

SoulCalibur series soundtracks appear on streaming platforms like Spotify

Bandai Namco announced that it released nine original soundtracks from the SoulCalibur series on multiple digital purchase and streaming platforms. People can now find songs from the weapon-based, 3D fighting game series on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.

The lineup consists of not only of soundtracks from all six mainline numbered SoulCalibur entries released as of 2025. It also includes the 1996 progenitor PlayStation title Soul Edge—which is alternatively known outside Japan as Soul Blade—and the 2009 PSP game SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny. The ninth album added, SoulCalibur Suite - The Resonance of Souls and Swords, is an orchestral arrangement of three series tracks by Eminence Symphony Orchestra that originally came out for iTunes for Japan and the US in September 2009.

The SoulCalibur series distinguishes itself from Bandai Namco's flagship fighting game series Tekken by featuring weapon-based combats instead of martial arts and having its storyline take place between the 16th and 17th centuries as opposed to Tekken's contemporary era. However, the series has seen barely any updates since content additions for SoulCalibur VI ended in December 2020, with the game's producer Motohiro Okubo also having left Bandai Namco at the end of August 2021.

The SoulCalibur series soundtracks are now available on multiple digital music purchase and streaming platforms. The series' latest entry, SoulCalibur VI, is readily available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it is also playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via backward compatibility.

Futch and His Dragon Appear in Suikoden HD Remaster Video

Konami gradually started sharing new Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster footage ahead of its debut in March 2025, and the latest video clip features Futch and his dragon Black in the original game. This marks the first appearance of the hero, who remains a presence and Star of Destiny in the first three games in the series.

Basically, we get to see Futch grow up over the first three Suikoden games, and this Suikoden HD Remaster footage marks the first appearance of the character. We see Tir McDohl meet him and his dragon, Black, alongside allies like Ted. He's a member of the Dragon Knights, and he's assisting the party by helping them visit Leknaat at her island home. This gives us a chance to see his early character art, which shows him as a child.

The English social media account also shared a photo and brief profile for him as well. We don't know how his new character portrait for Suikoden 2 looks yet. Due to that happening years later, he's in his teens by that point. He's then almost 30 by the time he appears in Suikoden 3

The last time we saw footage, it involved another notable character. Konami highlighted Pilika and her role in Suikoden 2.

Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster is in development and the new PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch release date is March 6, 2025. The original games appeared on the PlayStation worldwide, as well as in a PSP collection in Japan.

Monster Hunter Wilds tankards by Urakita

Urakita revealed a new lineup of custom-made tankards inspired by Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds. The company has also opened orders for the new items on its web store, which now also supports worldwide shipping.

The Monster Hunter Wilds tankards are available in two sizes, with each of them having two different designs. The 1000 ml (33.81 oz) size is available with a tax-inclusive price tag of 17,380 yen (~$111.70) with the Arkveld or Research Commission emblem. There is also a smaller 380 ml (12.85 oz) size purchasable at 11,880 yen (~$76.35) with the Avis or Astrum unit emblem.

Urakita is also offering additional customizations to the tankards by adding an extra 2,200 yen (~$14.15) after tax for each bonus entry. The 1000 ml size will have an optional "Quest Start" or "Quest Cleared" mark on the inner base, while the 380 ml one lets people add the Felyne paw icon and ears on the handle.

The company will also let people add an engraving of their Hunter Name in up to ten letters, which can consist of uppercase alphabet letters, numbers, and question (?) and exclamation (!) marks.

When we covered the Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary tankards that came out in July 2024, Urakita's web store had yet to support shipments outside Japan. The company has since added a WorldShopping widget to the website in late October 2024. That means Hunters from all around the world can now also order the new customizable tankards from the Japanese web store.

Monster Hunter Wilds will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 28, 2025. Urakita's new tankards modeled after the new game are immediately available to order worldwide.

2025 FFXIV Valentione's Day Valentine's Event Starts Next Week

Valentine's Day arrives on February 14, 2025, as usual, but the FFXIV Valentione's Day event starts even earlier on February 3, 2025. This year's celebration runs until February 17, 2025. As usual, there are two new items to get.

There aren't many barriers to entry for the event this year. Which is common for the event. You just need to make your way to Old Gridania when it starts. As long as you're at level 15 or higher, you can talk to Astrid at X:10.2, Y:9.4 to start the new quest called "I Promise You a Rose Garden."

Two new rewards are being doled out for those who take part in the 2025 FFXIV Valentione's Day before or after Valentine's Day. One is a new emote called Bouquet. It makes your character present a bouquet of red flowers. The other is a Heartfelt Valentione's Day Advertisement decoration. It is a wall-mounted furnishing for someone's in-game home. As usual, some other items from old events will appear.

Here's how the new emote and decoration look:

These types of rewards are common for the event. For the 2024 Valentine's Day event, we could earn the Love Heart emote. The furnishing that year was a Valentione's Heart Chair. The Eat Chocolate emote appeared for the 2023 installment.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the 2025 FFXIV Valentione's Day runs February 3-17, 2025.
