Citizen Sleeper 2 review - a poignant and timely RPG about hope in dystopia

It's the future, and you are not a person. A shirtless young man with a military buzzcut and piercing blue eyes is talking to you. His camo leggings straddle the line between yoga instructor and hospital patient, stark against the vast reaches of space. His name, Serafin, is stamped like a serial number in bold capitals beside an unfurling ribbon of expositional dialogue. You do not know him, but he knows you, and he knows you need to run. Your pursuer is Laine, a dapper mob boss who falls somewhere between an entitled slave owner and an abusive ex. In short, he is both entirely irredeemable and a credible threat. This is the premise of Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector. You run.

Best Black Ops 6 PPSh-41 loadout

What is the best PPSh-41 loadout in Black Ops 6? It's time to dust off that arsenal of weapons, we've got a brand new SMG for you to try out. Season 2 has introduced plenty of welcome changes to the game, but we're most interested in the PPSh-41, a World War II SMG that can tear through enemies with its lightning fast fire rate.

The stock version of this classic SMG is far too heavy for our liking, and it also could use a lot of work in the recoil department. Fortunately, our Black Ops 6 PPSh-41 loadout addresses these problems in the FPS game, making it one of the best Black Ops 6 weapons around.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has almost identical specs to Horizon Forbidden West, another PS5 game ported to PC. While older rigs can handle this game at 720p, you'll need one of the best graphics cards out there if you're going to be pushing for ultimate ray tracing performance at 4K.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs are going for $9,999, as Ebay users fight scalpers

Never wanting to miss out on a good grift, Ebay scalpers have returned in force for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 launch. The new GPU is already in high demand after its first day on shelves resulted in sellouts across the board. This was expected, as Nvidia even warned of  "stock outs" before the release.

We recently tested the new flagship for our RTX 5090 review, and comes in at a base price of $1,999. That's just for Nvidia Founders Edition and reference spec cards, though, with the partners slowly revealing their pricing, including Asus with its $3,000 variation. As these cards sold out as fast as lightning, Ebay users have gathered and the grift is real.

Japanese gaming PC builders cause havoc at Nvidia RTX 5090 and 5080 lottery

A Japanese electronics store has inadvertently caused mayhem after attempting to run a lottery for prospective buyers of Nvidia's new RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 gaming GPUs. The store planned to hand out up to 100 tickets to those in line, but far more people turned up, causing damage to the local area and trespassing on neighboring properties in order to skip ahead in the line.

The store in question is called PC Koubou, and like many stores around the world, this one was having to deal with the reality of extremely limited supply of new Nvidia RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs. However, while it came up with an idea for how to be as fair and reasonable at handing out cards as it could, some of those wanting to grab the new best graphics card champions weren't so high-minded.

If you want to play the Elden Ring Nightreign beta, FromSoftware has an update

Even by the standards of FromSoftware and the Dark Souls formula, Shadow of the Erdtree was, at times, absolutely brutal. If you've ground your way through the Lands Between, finishing off the Elden Ring DLC in style, you'd be forgiven for wanting some form of reprieve, a nice, long break to play something calmer, kinder. But the Elden Ring Nightreign beta, also known as the network test, is already almost upon us. A roguelike spin on the sadistic fantasy RPG, Nightreign pits you and three comrades against successively hard mobs and bosses in a white-knuckle fight for survival. If you applied to play it before launch, FromSoftware may have already been in touch.

Dune Awakening's spice is in full flow, and its biggest bug is its best feature

Sticking a media playtest for a Dune game in the frigid depths of a Norwegian January is peak comedic irony. Yet there I was, layered up, exploring the unforgiving Arrakean desert from Oslo's former multiplex-turned-gaming hub, Eldorado, having been invited by developer Funcom. While the venue may serve a different purpose nowadays, I still witnessed moments of absolute cinema during my six-hour Dune Awakening preview as I wrestled with raiders, legged it from sandworms, and familiarized myself with the laws of the desert. Assassin's Creed Rogue is one of the most overlooked entries in the Ubisoft series, and it's easy to understand why. It launched in November 2014, on the same day as Assassin's Creed Unity. While Unity was the next-generation offering, Rogue acted as the final outing for the previous round of consoles, but made its way to PC early in 2015.      This Asus motherboard feature could damage your GPU, but the company denies it

Asus' new Q-Release Slim system for quickly removing graphics cards is damaging graphics cards and other PCIe cards, according to new reports. Q-Release Slim is designed to be an easier way to remove PCIe devices, such as graphics cards, from Asus motherboards by removing the need to press a lock release button - you just pull the card straight out - but it appears to be harming the cards in the process. However, Asus has been quick to respond, releasing a statement playing down the severity of the situation.

With Asus motherboards featuring the new quick card release system now being out in the wild, reports are coming in of the new motherboards scratching the printed circuit board (PCB) when being disconnected. This is understandably a major concern for any graphics card user, but especially those looking to buy one of the new best graphics card options such as the $2,000 RTX 5090. That's if you manage to work out where to buy an RTX 5090, of course.

Trying to find out where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU? If so, you've landed in the right place. The card launches today at 9am ET / 6am PT / 2pm GMT, so availability has just kicked off. In this guide, you'll find links to stores around the world that have either stock notifications, pre-orders, or actual stock available. If you want to grab the most anticipated graphics card of the moment, this is the place to be.

With the new Nvidia RTX 5090 proving to be the undisputed new best graphics card in terms of raw power, it's set to be in huge demand. What's more, it's expected to be available in only very limited numbers, so you'll have to be quick on the draw to grab one in the coming months, especially if you don't want to pay inflated prices from scalpers buying the cards from trusted retailers, only to then resell them on the likes of Ebay.

With an official price of $1,999 / $4,449 CAD / £1,939 / AU$4,039 for the Founders Edition card, that's the price you should be hoping to pay for Nvidia's own impressively slim card design. Other cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and Zotac might demand more, but that's the ballpark figure you should expect to pay. The RTX 5090 release date is today, January 30, at 9am ET /6am PT / 2pm GMT so stock has just become available. Some stores are operating a "notify me" service, so you can sign up to know when more stock becomes available, so if you can't find the card you want you might be able to get a notification for when more arrives.

     Best graphics card 2025

What is the best graphics card for gaming? Shopping for a new GPU can mean wading through an often baffling set of numbers in specs lists, as well as weighing up the pros and cons of the different feature sets from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. That's where we can help, as we're not only genuine PC hardware enthusiasts who know our stream processors from our stream decks, but we're also gamers.

Your choice of GPU will have a bigger impact on your gaming experience than any other PC component and by a long, long way. Yes, it's always worth making sure you have the best gaming CPU in your system, as well as the best gaming RAM you can afford, but it's the mighty graphics card that really sits on the throne in your gaming rig, so you need to make sure you nail this choice.

Your GPU is the primary driving force behind the frame rate in your games, and it also determines the resolution and graphics settings you'll be able to use, including ray tracing and some GPUs are much better at handling these settings than others. There are also features that are exclusive to Nvidia GeForce and AMD Radeon GPUs, such as Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, which also need to be considered.

We've tested all the graphics cards listed in this guide in a number of different games ourselves, so we can say authoritatively which GPU you should buy for your needs, and why. The situation has quickly changed with the release of Nvidia's new RTX 5000 GPUs in January 2025 as well, with the new RTX 5090 now the undisputed king of the graphics card world, if you can afford (or find) it, and the new RTX 5080 offering decent 4K gaming performance for a much cheaper price, thanks to is support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Gen..

The new AMD RDNA 4 GPU lineup is also scheduled to launch in March 2025, with the new Radeon RX 9070 XT bringing support for AMD FSR 4, which finally brings hardware AI to the company's upscaling tech. The Radeon RX 9070 is also due to launch in this timeframe, with both GPUs expected to chase the RTX 5070 for the mid-range crown.

In the meantime, these graphics cards are the very best ones you can buy for gaming right now, with prices starting at just $249.99 for a great 1080p card, and going all the way up to the mammoth Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 if you want to play games at 4K with all the eye candy enabled.

Next DBD Chapter release date estimate, new killer, survivor, perks, and more

What is the next Dead by Daylight Chapter? New chapters arrive in Dead by Daylight every three months, and it can be difficult to keep up with the new characters, maps, and more. With so much additional content, it's incredible how Behaviour Interactive is able to come up with new perks and powers for the latest DBD killers and survivors. The last Dead by Daylight character to enter The Fog was the gruesomely gorgeous Houndmaster and her pet dog, Snug. Joining them was Taurie Cain, the first Scottish survivor in the horror game. Silent Hill 2 was one of 2024's most shocking surprises when it launched in October. Bloober Team's remake of the classic horror experience was met with mixed opinions after the first few trailers, and due to Bloober Team's somewhat patchy track record, many were worried that the new version wouldn't live up to the 2001 original.      Where to buy 5080 - Nvidia RTX 5080 stock for January 30

If you're looking for where to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, this is the place to be. We're updating this guide daily with links to etailers around the world so you can find stock as soon as it appears. With the RTX 5080 launch having just occured, stock is sure to sell out quickly, but check the retailers below to see if there's still cards available.

The Nvidia RTX 5080 is expected to be a very popular option for those wanting to upgrade to an RTX 5000 series GPU. That's because, while our RTX 5090 review showed it to be the undisputed new best graphics card, it also offers relatively poor value for $1,999. The RTX 5080, though, is a great choice that's reasonable value in the grand scheme of things, as we found out in our RTX 5080 review.

Because of this expected popularity, and because the entire RTX 5000 series is tipped to be in short supply and high demand, you're going to need to be organized if you want to secure a card for a sensible price soon after launch.

With an official price of $999 / $1,449.99 CAD / £979 / AU$2,019 for Nvidia's own Founders Edition card. Other cards from the likes of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac might demand more, but that's the ballpark figure you should expect to pay. Mandragora: Whispers Of The Witch Tree is a 2.5D Soulsvania from Primal Game Studio, in which you electrify, bisect or incinerate handsome, ravening night creatures in a world of heaped skulls and burning spires. Yes, I'm well aware that "2.5D" and "Soulsvania" are nonsense words, woven by pestilent market forces. Samuel Johnson is turning in his grave, I expect. He has risen from his grave and equipped himself with an ironbound dictionary and is even now making his way through the layers of the English language, hellbent on slaughtering every 'vania yet coined.

But never mind Samuel. Oversized rodents and spiders aside, Mandragora is notable for being written by Brian Mitsoda, writer of the original Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and the former narrative lead for its sequel at Hardsuit Labs, which lives on in the hands of The Chinese Room. Primal have just announced a release date - 17th April. Here's a trailer.

Don't get too comfortable. As an RPG that puts you in the synthetic boots of an escaped robo-person, Citizen Sleeper 2 often has you on the run. It's a crunchy, dicey machine of vibrant world-building that sometimes forgets itself in wandering prose. A compelling universe to sail through, with more habitats and hovels than its predecessor, more stations and stellar gateways. It can't - for me - escape the dense gravity of the first game's compact storytelling and novel character building, no matter how often it funnels you from one space caper to the next. But it has a good time trying.

Bioware released a statement yesterday. It talked of "turning towards the future". It dreamed of "a more agile, focused studio". Nowhere in the post did the word "layoffs" appear. But this is what the post was actually about. The closest it got to addressing the facts of what happened to an unspecified number of workers is the phrase: "we don't require support from the full studio."

It's one of the most disingenuous announcements of job cuts in a recent and plentiful history of job cuts. A weirdly impressive feat from BioWare, considering the last two or three years have seen some spectacular verbal gymnastics from games companies when it comes to shitcanning people. Let's take a look at some of our "favourite" mealy-mouthed press releases in which people have their jobs poetically "sunsetted" rather than, say, dropkicked out the window.

The last Minesweeperalike I wrote up was a sparkling slurry of mind-altering pop-ups and resinous AI cleavage. It was David Cronenberg's Minesweeper: The Substance Edition, and I was sincerely worried that I'd put you all off Minesweeper for life. But before you mop your last munition and turn in your index finger for good, give Dragonsweeper a try. It's Minesweeper with an altogether less atrocious twist which you can hopefully deduce from the name.

The layoff train has come for BioWare. A number of Dragon Age: The Veilguard staff are leaving the celebrated RPG company in the course of plans to become "a more agile, focused studio", as BioWare move ahead with the next Mass Effect game. Posting on Bluesky, senior systems designer Michelle Flamm, producer Jen Cheverie, editor Karin West-Weekes, lead writer Trick Weekes and narrative designer Ryan Cormier have all announced that they're looking for work.

All of which feels like it warrants a mention in general manager Gary McKay's recent blog about BioWare's future, but he comments only that they're "taking the opportunity to reimagine" how BioWare operate between projects, and "have worked diligently over the past few months to match many of our colleagues with other teams at EA that had open roles that were a strong fit." Which is a very slippery way to say that you're making a load of people redundant.

Tales of Graces f Remastered Survey Includes Wallpaper Reward

Bandai Namco shared a new survey for Tales of Graces f Remastered, asking people what they thought about the newest version of the game and sharing a mobile wallpaper reward for sharing thoughts about the JRPG. It is live until February 13, 2025, and you can take part by visiting the official site.

Many of the questions are very basic ones about the JRPG. Bandai Namco starts the survey by asks if you actually bought Tales of Graces f Remastered. It then asks if you're currently playing it and how you got it. The company asks which platform people picked, as well as if they went with the special edition.

From there, the questions get to be more about the experience and gameplay. The company asks someone to rank how much they enjoyed it, the rank elements like the characters, graphics, and battle system. It also asked about the new features in the remaster and which ones folks found helpful. These responses included options like the ability to skip events, more subtitles, faster movement, and Grade Shop access.

Once that's done, you get a Tales of Graces f Remastered wallpaper image designed to be used on a mobile phone. It features Asbel and Sophie from behind, looking at the sky.

Tales of Graces f Remastered is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. You can also find the original game on the PS3 worldwide and the Wii in Japan.

Monster Hunter Wilds official Japanese First Play Guide book by Kadokawa

Kadokawa Game Linkage has announced that it will release a Monster Hunter Wilds guide book in Japan on the same day Capcom releases the game worldwide on February 28, 2025. The Japanese book will have the title "Official First Play Guide," and it will be available in physical and digital formats with a tax-inclusive price tag of 2,970 yen (~$19.25).

The A4-sized book will have a total of 96 pages. Other than general explanations of the game world's settings, monsters, and items, it will also contain more detailed tips related to the large monsters, weapons, and armor parts.

Each physical copy of the book will also come with an exclusive B2-sized fabric poster that features one of the game's key visuals. A watermarked sample of the poster is available to view right below:

Kadokawa also shared a disclaimer that the guide will contain information based on the launch version of Monster Hunter Wilds. Capcom has been recently known for adding post-release new content and gameplay balance updates to prior Monster Hunter entries like World and Rise, so Kadokawa warns that future update patches for Monster Hunter Wilds may make some of the book's information no longer accurate.

Monster Hunter Wilds will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC simultaneously worldwide on February 28, 2025. Kadokawa will also publish the official First Play Guide Book for Monster Hunter Wilds on the same day in Japan.

Review: Citizen Sleeper 2 Is Punishing and Poignant in the Best Ways

Great games make you feel things. This isn't limited to joy or delight. I feel like if it can evoke any kind of meaningful emotions that aren't overwhelming frustration tied to bad gameplay or broken elements, it's a some sort of success. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector did an incredible job of leaving me feeling lost, desperate, enraged at in-game entities or opponents, and like I was struggling to survive in a galaxy where every decision mattered. It feels like both an important piece of literature and a well-crafted indie game.

Citizen Sleeper 2 begins with a harrowing operation and escape. You're an entirely new Sleeper, a person whose self was uploaded into a cybernetic body to act as essentially a work slave for other individuals. Memories are lost in that initial process. However, yours in this instance are gone because of an interrupted procedure to remove a reliance on the Stabilizer needed to keep Sleeper units going. Your former boss Laine discovered you were attempting to escape. Your only ally is someone named Serafin, who seems distraught at your amnesia, as the two of you head on the run throughout the galaxy.. The process seems to have damaged your body. Your ship is old and falling apart. You're being hunted down. There's never enough time, money, or supplies. It's a lot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryA2lZ-FEp8&feature=youtu.be

Gameplay in Citizen Sleeper 2 is nearly identical to the original game, albeit with more space travel. This begin with you choosing one of three roles, which are Machinist, Operator, and Extractor. Each has one Skill they excel at and one that is just not there. You can invest in Skills and Push abilities, the latter of which increase stress in exchange for some sort of boost. I found the Endure, Engineer and Intuit Skills most useful, but every one of them has their time and place. Likewise, your eventual allies have specialties that will help in situations, and if they are set as your crew you can rely on their dice too.

After the player's Sleeper and Serafin escape, Citizen Sleeper 2 falls into a sort of pattern. Arrive at a station. Perform actions in different areas to open up access to job contracts, new crew, new locations, opportunities to get supplies, and information. You have five dice available each Cycle, which can randomly roll between a 1-6. You use a die for each action, both on stations or when on Contracts, which determines if you'll have a positive, neutral, or negative result. On Contracts, allies' dice can be used as well. However, you're reliant on supplies you bring in, you don't know what Skills you may need there, and you can't just quit and leave a Contract area in the midst of it. Your Skills can also result in an extra boost or debuff to certain actions, depending on your proficiency, with 1 always being the minimum and 6 the maximum. Getting a 6 means a positive result and you're safe... but otherwise you can be in real trouble. You also can increase stress with failure or if you're away from a station and reliant on supplies that are running out, which also causes your character to become more hungry or starving as time passes.

Once all dice are used, you need to return to the ship to end the Cycle, roll, and begin a new day, with the Cycle Clock timer showing how close your pursuers are cranking down as time goes by. Oh, and you also need to eat, as you'll increase stress and wear out your dice if you don't. Depending on your difficulty, running out of dice health means you just can't use them and progress until they're repaired. Once you gained enough money and resources to move on, you can continue running to the next location. Good and bad outcomes are taken into account, lending weight to every action and decision.

It's complicated! And Citizen Sleeper 2 starts and plays in such a way that it feels like Jump Over the Age assumes that you played the first game. So certain elements about Skills, your Drive motivations, and just generally acting, let alone more complicated concepts like using a Push to help yourself a long or understanding Glitches, aren't properly explained.

The situation in Citizen Sleeper 2 means you're constantly faced with these dire situations filled with compelling characters. While Serafin is the first, the game is packed with people with fascinating tales to tell. I was concerned about Juni early on, considering how she ended up joining a list of possible crewmates, but her actions and background proved her to be a reliable ally on missions. I adored Serafin and felt so bad to see my first companion in such pain upon realizing these two individuals took a major risk together, only for one to completely forget what they had and it to go terribly awry. I would love to hang out with Kadet, because her responses are hilarious. The narrative is so strong both when it comes to this Sleeper's story and the characters around them. I loved it. I often found myself choosing responses on my first run that showed consideration to anyone I met who seemed like they were as downtrodden as I was. Then, in my second, I made different choices that were more selfish, and enjoyed how the results differed.

What I didn't always love is the weight of certain gameplay elements. While this story is very well told and exceptional, I couldn't spend hours engaged in a session the way I could with the original Citizen Sleeper. I feel like the difficulty in Citizen Sleeper 2 is much higher than the original game due elements like the dice health, timers, and nature of Contracts. Early on, upon first escaping from Laine, it is possible to find yourself in a desperate state due to poor dice rolls. I felt like stress and dice health loomed over me in such a way that I didn't ever find myself in the sort of secure positions, like I sometimes did in the original game. Since each die also has the aforementioned health bar, it feels possible to immediately fall into dire straits once access to even one is lost. It is absolutely possible to survive and keep moving on! But it kept me from enjoying the sequel as much as I did the original, and I don't think I ever had a play session last longer than an hour.

While I do feel it affected Citizen Sleeper 2's balance in a way resource management didn't in the original, I will say I sometimes appreciated the tension it added to the adventure. The stakes really felt dire, especially as I experienced a constant struggle to maintain resources and manage actions each Cycle to ensure I could constantly keep moving as the Hunt timer ticked down and danger loomed. Getting food to stave off starvation, fuel to keep moving, and scrap to deal with broken dice was a constant weight on my shoulders. I felt as desperate as my character likely did. It's immersive. However, that anxiety over getting by and burden meant I needed to take more breaks when I'd play Citizen Sleeper 2, especially if a new Cycle started with poor dice rolls and I didn't want to risk using the Push mechanic to increase stress to make them more viable.

It didn't help that I felt like the easiest of the three difficulty options didn't actually make the experience any less grueling. If you select Easy, you can still use broken dice and have them count as a "1" for actions, you don't need to worry about dying, and stress won't be as influential. However, since a "1" could result in a terrible result, I sometimes felt like it was as bad as not having a die at all. Some situations seemed even more hopeless as I played on the easiest difficulty, because I'd keep tossing the broken dice at situations, would see them get negative results and not move the needle, only building up stress and making me starve sooner. Stress also still felt, well, stressful!

All that said, the story and mechanics in Citizen Sleeper 2 clearly illustrates what life is like for those who are at the whims of the power and large commercial entities when paired together. Many of the people we meet and ally with are forced to do whatever they can to survive. Contracts may deal with the after effects of potential abuses of power or the harm a company can do when a hazardous device is left behind as space trash. We meet the people dealing with the consequences of actions they didn't commit or agree to.

In Citizen Sleeper 2, players are tossed into a well-realized future and forced to survive as best they can. This is also while hopefully fostering relationships with people who might help them feel as though they're actually living, rather than getting by. The systems in place take some getting used to, and both the weight of them and varied consequences make it feel like each one counts. While the original Citizen Sleeper's gameplay stuck with me more and was the sort of game I could spend hours playing, the sequel is still quite special in its own right. I just wish the gameplay was as strong as its story.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on January 31, 2025.

Elden Ring Become Lord comic volume 2 released

Kadokawa announced that it published Elden Ring: Become Lord II in Japan. The second volume of the full-color, visual comic series is available for purchase at 3,300 yen (~$21.45) on sites like Book Walker and Amazon Japan.

The new volume also appears to complete the storyline of the Become Lord comic series. Kadokawa had previously released the first volume in June 2024.

Become Lord is not the only Elden Ring-themed book Kadokawa has published. The company has also been gradually publishing tankobon volumes of the comedy manga Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree that launched in 2022. The latest volume for the latter series as of this announcement is Volume 7, which came out in December 2024. Other than manga, Kadokawa also published See You At That Grace After Work, a novel featuring real-world office workers who are also avid fans of the Elden Ring game, in March 2024.

The full-color visual comic is based on the blockbuster game that has been available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC since 2022. Bandai Namco and FromSoftware revealed a new multiplayer co-op spin-off titled Elden Ring: Nightreign at The Game Awards 2024, with its Network Test planned to take place in February 2025.

Date Everything Game Delayed and Skipping Valentine's Day

Date Everything, a new dating sim in which you date all types of anthropomorphic items, is now delayed, and the game is not releasing on Valentine's Day 2025. It now has a general June 2025 launch window. As is common with such postponements, the developers at Sassy Chap Games pushed it back to ensure the overall quality at launch.

Ray Chase, the voice actor who is also lead designer on the project, explained the additional four months will be spent doing quality assurance testing. He noted that as the Sassy Chap Games team started going through final tests, folks realized exactly how much they needed to go through. As such, the developer decided it was best to ensure it would be in a much better position at launch.

Here's the full game update regarding Date Everything being delayed and how development on the dating sim is going from Chase:

"Since we last updated you on development, we have been extremely hard at work finishing work on Date Everything! And at this point I can confidently say that we have reached that point where the game is complete to a standard that we feel reached our goals with no compromise in our bonkers artistic vision.

However… I was too confident that we could properly test all the wild amount of content and pathing that exists in this massive game, and unfortunately we ran out of time on our current (and yet so appropriate) release date of February 14, 2025.

Our bug list is finally starting to dwindle down as QA gets through the labyrinthine story pathing, but to submit our game in the state with so many outstanding glitches would be doing you a disservice. We have our final release date set for June 2025. And while it isn't quite as sexy as Valentine's Day, we hope we can bring new sexiness to June evermore. And yes, you actually can date the glitches. Their name is Daemon and I am currently in a Love/Hate relationship with them."

Ahead of launch, we did see Sassy Chap Games reveal more of the love interests. In addition to Ray Chase bringing up Daemon in the delay notice, 12 characters were brought up in December 2024 as part of a 12 Dates of Christmas campaign on social media

Here are the ones that were revealed then, as well as their voice actors, in case you missed them:

  • Abel - Steve Blum
  • Beau - Ashly Johnson
  • Beverly - Marisha Ray
  • Curt & Rod - David Morales & Jacquis Neil
  • Daisuke - Daisuke Tsuji
  • Holly - Briana Knickerbocker
  • Monique - Judy Alice Lee
  • Prissy Plastique - Kiera Please
  • Sophia - Laura Post
  • Tina - Grey Delisle
  • Tony - Roger Craig Smith
  • Washford & Drysdale - David Sobolov & Neil Newbon

The Date Everything will appear on the Switch, PS5, PC and Xbox Series X in June 2025.

The newest Danganronpa bunny girl scale figure is of Celestia Ludenberg, who debuted in the original game.

The next Danganronpa bunny girl figure arrives in 2025, and it will be a new take on Celestia Ludenberg. Good Smile Company announced it will debut in Japan in September 2025, and it will cost ¥39,600 when it does. It'll be $310.99 in the US, and it is expected to appear everywhere by Q1 2026.

The reason for the high cost is that this is a 1/4 scale figure, compared to the 1/7 and 1/8 ones we typically see. This means she'll be over 10 inches tall. (That's about 260mm.) It is a static figure with no additional face plates or accessories for posing purposes. Her bunny girl outfit does look slightly different than others in the line, to accentuate the fact that she always tended to wear Gothic Lolita clothing in the game. She also holds a Joker playing card, as a nod to her role as the Ultimate Gambler. The fishnet stockings she wears are made of real fabric as well.

Here's a closer look at how this version of Celestia should look when the figure launches.

There are already multiple Danganronpa figures in this bunny girl line. In 2023, Chiaki Nanami, Junko Enoshima, Kaede Akamatsu, and Kyoko Kirigiri came up. The Chiako one appeared in both black and white outfits. The latest promotional image from Good Smile Company on the product page alongside the Celestia reveal showed there will be a Mikan Tsumiki figure in the collection too.

The Danganronpa Celestia Ludenberg bunny girl figure will launch in September 2025. Pre-orders are open until March 26, 2025. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is available on the PS4, PSP, Vita, Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices.

Playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure on the Switch after following it since its Apple Arcade debut means I got to see it grow, and this Animal Crossing style game improved since its debut.

Typically when a game comes out on a new platform, Siliconera doesn't review it again. After all, there are rarely differences that merit it. In the case of Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Sunblink did so much to the Sanrio game since its Apple Arcade debut that the Switch release genuinely feels like a bigger, stronger, and better Animal Crossing like game.

Part of that involves the campaign. It's grown since its 2023 debut! Yes, core premise remains unchanged. Your custom avatar joined Sanrio mascots like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Aggretsuko on a flight to Friendship Island so My Melody could open a shop there and others could relax. Upon landing, we find it's deserted save for an unusual holographic being known as TOPHAT and green blobular characters called Nulls. The group decides to settle there and solve the mystery of the island.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WtDlmTD6w0&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

However, in the years since launch, Sunblink added a lot! New locations like Cloud Island and City Town appeared. More quests expanded the initial storyline, offering more to do with familiar Sanrio characters. Speaking of which, more permanent residents like My Sweet Piano, the Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala, Wish Me Mell, and Usahana became permanent villagers alongside an array of potential visitors who can show up if you decorate cabins that meet their specific needs. Lots of events popped up! Basically, the world felt fuller and we got more ways to interact with folks, which made Hello Kitty Island Adventure feel more like Animal Crossing and like a larger experience.

Said new regions are pretty great. When Cloud Island and City Town, as well as new folks like My Sweet Piano, showed up, they tended to add new items, cooking options, recipes, and capabilities. My Sweet Piano unlocked the ability to further customize furniture, which is great if you really get into the interior decorating elements present. (It almost makes Hello Kitty Island Adventure feel a little like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.) Cloud Island takes you up into the sky for new gathering, new furniture, more quests, and cotton candy recipes. Once you get to City Town in the campaign, you gain access to the Imagination Cafe and its restaurant management elements. Not to mention, all regions in the game feel distinct and can be a lot of fun to explore as you search for crafting elements, so it's just generally pleasant.

Said exploring also feels so much better in Hello Kitty Island Adventure upon its Switch launch, and it isn't just about the controller-based control scheme instead of virtual joysticks and touchscreen ones. A lot of quality of life adjustments came up between 2023 and this 2025 wider launch, with platforming feeling tighter and more accurate than before. Additional accessibility options, such a glimmer of light that can lead you to quest objectives if you enable it, don't hurt either. A lot of quirks I experienced when playing through the game at the Apple Arcade launch, as well as limitations tied to only basic content being present at the time, are gone. It makes a huge difference!

I found it all also made it easier to appreciate and bond with the Hello Kitty Island Adventure characters in the Switch release, making it feel more relaxed like Animal Crossing. At launch, it could be a bit of a chore to find things everyone would like and get opportunities to interact with them. While part of it is probably due to now having coming up on two years of experience with the title, Sunblink clearly made adjustments in its many updates and patches that addressed potential frustrating points.

These additions and changes also make Hello Kitty Island Adventure feel a bit more balanced. Quests appear at a steady rate, as do season events. The range of visitors, their diverse needs, and the number of cabins mean you can now gradually work on making Friendship Island homier at your own pace. There are still some errand simulator elements, since friendship with characters can be tied to giving gifts and will naturally go up when certain deliveries are made as part of questlines. However, since there's so much to do now, you can avoid feeling inundated if you take your time as you play. It also means more puzzle options when going to different areas, and that you'll probably find it easier to get those Apple Slices needed to get your stamina up to properly climb and explore everywhere.

Playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure on the Switch after following it since its Apple Arcade debut means I got to see it grow, and this Animal Crossing style game improved since its debut. Sunblink put a lot of work in, both in terms of quality of life changes, additional quests, more events, and new content. I'd recommend someone play it more now than I did before.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade. It will also come to the PS4 and PS5.

Piczle Cross Rune Factory - release date confirmed in February 2025

Rainy Frog has confirmed the full release date for Piczle Cross: Rune Factory. The company will release the picross/nonogram puzzle game featuring characters and creatures from Marvelous' Rune Factory series on February 20, 2025. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

This title will appear as the second crossover Piczle Cross entry with a Marvelous franchise. Rainy Frog had previously released a similar game themed after Story of Seasons a year prior in February 2024.

Similar to the earlier release, this Piczle Cross game will contain numerous puzzles featuring characters, items, and creatures from the Rune Factory series. There will be a total of 300 single puzzles and 20 collage puzzles available in the game.

The new game's Steam page also lists more features that were not in the descriptions for the Story of Seasons game. Some of the puzzles in the Rune Factory game will have multiple colors, with an optional color vision aid available for players with color blindness. Players will also be able to have a spouse and weapon appear in the farm area after unlocking them by clearing their respective puzzles.

When Rainy Frog first announced the Rune Factory nonogram game in September 2024, it initially only informed a broad release window in the year 2025. Today's announcement confirmed that the game will be available rather early in the year, in February 2025.

Piczle Cross: Rune Factory will be available for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on February 20, 2025.
