Terrifying and unique, Anoxia Station is the greatest new strategy game on PC

Your priority in any city-building game is to expand outwards - more roads, more houses, more businesses. Anoxia Station turns that against you. As the leader of a mining operation deep, deep beneath the Earth's surface, every time you drill into an untouched rock face you risk hitting a pocket of radiation, releasing a geyser of magma, or disturbing the sleep of a gargantuan, subterranean terror. Generators. Refineries. Water pumps. Everything has to be pushed together and built on top of one another, such is the intense claustrophobia of your lightless, airless underground sepulchre. Condensation drips down the screen. Static and VHS tracking lines disturb the picture. In principle, Anoxia Station belongs to the same genre as Cities Skylines 2 and Frostpunk, but it takes the city-builder's mechanical staples and twists them into something terrifying and unique.

While Five Nights at Freddy's fever is in the air right now for Dead by Daylight lovers, the reveal of its new roadmap and a hidden message within it could be teasing the licensed chapter that follows its FNAF fiesta. While not yet confirmed, all the evidence is pointing towards a DBD chapter themed around The Walking Dead.

Sekiro style Metroidvania Nine Sols is cheaper than ever as we wait for Silksong

Even with all the signs pointing to the launch of Hollow Knight Silksong arriving this year, it's better not to spend too long thinking about it. Instead, I recommend plunging yourself headfirst into another fantastic 2D Metroidvania with all the action and platforming chops of Team Cherry's classic. Inspired by Elden Ring developer Fromsoftware's best game to date, Nine Sols is one of the strongest contenders to the Hollow Knight crown that I've played in a while, and you can currently get it cheaper than it's ever been on Steam.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is Steam Deck Verified but doesn't deserve it

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is now verified on Steam Deck, all thanks to one small change made to the texture pool setting. Unfortunately, though, this is another example of a game having its rating incorrectly changed, as the game doesn't have the performance to justify the green tick of verification.

Not every game runs great on the best handheld gaming PC, as the now aging hardware inside the Steam Deck is starting to struggle with new, triple-A games. The Indiana Jones and the Great Circle system requirements gave us plenty of warning that the game would struggle on the Steam Deck, but this new update aids performance, just not enough to be worthy of any rating other than Playable.

I've played far too much Monster Hunter Wilds in the weeks since it launched, culminating in roughly 100 hours of chasing down larger-than-life beasts and, ultimately, getting my butt whooped multiple times. If you're like me, you may be looking for the next game to enjoy playing, and fortunately, the opportunity for more monster hunting has arrived with this bundle of Monster Hunter Rise and World for just $10, together.      If this AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT price leak is right, then Nvidia will be pleased

The prices of two AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics cards have leaked online, and if they're right, Nvidia will be jumping for joy. On Amazon, two XFX Swift OC listings appeared, one for the 8GB 9060 XT, and one for the 16GB model. The most notable one is the $449.99 price attached to the 8GB card, which is laughable, if it's correct.

In general, 8GB VRAM graphics cards are a harder sell as game demands start to push right up against this figure. Most notably, the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle system requirements require a card with 8GB of VRAM in its lowest tier, meaning cards, and cards such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB would run into warnings if you tried playing it on the highest settings, or it would outright crash if also pushing for full ray-tracing. Rumors swirled that AMD had potentially canceled the 8GB version of the RX 9060 XT, but this leak suggests these models are still on the way.

DBD FNAF chapter release date window, PTB, and latest news

What is the next Dead by Daylight Chapter? New chapters arrive in Dead by Daylight every three months, and it can be difficult to keep up with the new characters, maps, and more. Luckily, these updates arrive on a fairly rigid schedule, so we can usually look forward to the next DBD chapter before we even know what it is.

With so much additional content, it's incredible that Behaviour Interactive is able to come up with new perks and powers for the latest DBD killers and survivors. The last Dead by Daylight character to enter The Fog was the iconic Ken Kaneki of Tokyo Ghoul, bringing hordes of anime fans to the horror game for the first time. Next, even more are set to descend upon The Entity's Realm when another legendary crossover arrives with the long-awaited DBD Five Night's at Freddy's chapter.

As far as I'm concerned, Nic Cage appearing in Dead by Daylight remains one of the most bonkers moments in recent gaming history.      GTA 6 voice actors and cast rumors

Who are the GTA 6 voice actors? The GTA series has seen many iconic voices over the years. Who could forget the late great Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti in Vice City, or Samuel L. Jackson laying down the law as Officer Tenpenny in San Andreas? However, more recent GTA games have up-and-comers voicing the main cast, paving the way for successful careers.

The GTA 6 cast is yet to be confirmed, but we've already been introduced to the main voices of the open-world game in the latest trailers.      It Has My Face is like survival horror Minecraft, where you're the killer

Many moons ago, I read a book about the concept of 'The Devil.' Is he a little horned, goat-legged guy who likes to cause chaos? Or is he that eerie feeling in the back of your mind; the one that tells you to mess things up and see what happens. It certainly gave me a lot to think about (I read it at least ten years ago now), and It Has My Face, a new horror game published by Dead by Daylight's Behaviour Interactive, has brought it back to the forefront of my mind.

When is DBD Chaos Shuffle back next?

When is Chaos Shuffle back in DBD? While our vanilla live-service games still have us coming back time and again, there's nothing like a good limited-time modifier to stop things getting stale. When it comes to Dead by Daylight, one of the best modes for shaking things up is Chaos Shuffle, which places you into each match with a loadout of completely random perks.

Dead by Daylight perks are among the best things to give you the edge in the multiplayer game, and choosing just the rights ones - whether you play as a DBD killer or survivor - can turn the game around. Some perks have great synergy with others, some help you survive or kill, and others can improve or impede teamwork. It's usually essential that you plan your perfect loadout, so going into a match with completely random perks can have a devastating impact. That's what Chaos Shuffle is all about, and we can't wait for it to return.

What are the best police games? We have all briefly considered life as a super sleuth or detective. Whether drawn in by the position of authority, the puzzling casework, or even the hard-drinking, police games tend to deliver plenty of action and intrigue.

However, unlike many of the best PC games, cops aren't all gunslingers in John Woo-esque shootouts or chasing criminals in high-speed car chases. The best police games often see you digging through crime scenes for evidence and carrying out routine procedures rather than pursuing perps with your gun drawn.      Resident Evil and Capcom legend Kamiya talks about possible Devil May Cry remake

The original Devil May Cry is, in a roundabout way, itself a remake - a lot of its central concepts come from an earlier prototype of Resident Evil 4, back when the Leon-led sequel was a more gothic, conventional survival horror. Released in 2001, while DMC 2 fell dramatically short of people's expectations, every other Devil May Cry game (including and especially Ninja Theory's DmC, which is my own personal favorite) has been a confident hit. Now, with the series' 25th anniversary getting closer, Hideki Kamiya, the legendary developer behind some of Capcom's greatest hits, including Resident Evil 2 and Viewtiful Joe, shares his opinions on a would-be Devil May Cry remake.

Doom The Dark Ages review - the ultimate dark (power) fantasy

Doom is at its best when id Software is innovating. This is, for the most part, a universal truth for the rip-roaring, genre-defining series, and its reboot trilogy hasn't betrayed that spirit. Doom 2016 was a rapturous return to form after a decade-long hiatus; a tightly crafted shooter, quintessentially 'Doom,' that upgraded Doomguy's credentials from 'unlucky marine' to 'mythical god-slaying entity.' 2020 brought Doom Eternal, which essentially strapped rockets to the Slayer's size 50-odd boots and set him on an assault course, splitting fan sentiment. id's latest shake-up is Doom The Dark Ages, a far darker, medieval-infused prequel that acknowledges the studio may have gone too hard with its predecessor. While id has once again overstretched at points, The Dark Ages lends plenty of credence to my opening statement.

Sci-fi FPS La Quimera is the first game from Reburn, a new incarnation of Metro co-developers 4A Games Ukraine. It's out now in early access. That last bit is a surprise: the developers had planned to release the new shooter as "a large, complete journey", but had to make "certain pivots" in the face of resource constraints, technical complications and, presumably, the broad impacts of living in a warzone. This led to a launch delay last week and then, the abrupt announcement that La Quimera would start out as an early access project.

I'm liking Doom: The Dark Ages more than local reviewist Nic does, possibly because spending most of 2024 remoulding my brain to learn Elden Ring has unduly engorged the part that appreciates a good parry-and-riposte. C'est la vie demons, and colleague. There is one issue that bothers me, though: why, of all the games on Bethesda's production lines, was this chosen to be the next game that follows Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in making ray tracing effects compulsory?

I was having a pretty good time with Doom: The Dark Ages. Then I rolled credits, reinstalled Doom Eternal, loaded up Mars Core, and realised how much Id have lost their sense of playfulness. Less grounded than landlocked, less weighty than weighed down, this is the slightest, least essential, and least creatively vibrant of the modern trilogy. It's also a sinuous, gurning, intoxicating beast of an FPS. I like it. I'm disappointed. I can't wait for DLC to round it out. I don't think Id are capable of making bad games. I really hope the next one is better.

Game director Hugo Martin trotted out a fair amount of investor speak in the run up to release, and now I can't get the phrase "core pillars of engagement" out of my head. It made me feel like a cocainated lab rat every time I started enjoying myself. Not for nothing, either. Eternal's dance had signature moves, but gave space to freestyle. The Dark Ages - between its call-and-response enemy design and Simon Says traffic light parries - wants you to dance to its tune. A campaign this long needs fresher riffs.

FFXI Return to Vana'diel Free Gameplay Period Returns

Square Enix again confirmed that it will hold the Final Fantasy XI Return to Vana'diel free login event and Discount Campaign for the game and its expansion for new and old FFXI players in May 2025. This year, things kick off on May 16, 2025. The free login part will last for over a week and end on May 26, 2025, which is Memorial Day in the US. Meanwhile, the sale on the MMORPG and certain elements will last until May 30, 2025.

As usual, there are three criteria we must meet in order to get to play FFXI for free during the Return to Vana'diel campaign. A big one is that the PlayOnline account needed to switch over to a Square Enix account. You also need to have had an active FFXI service account that could be used to play the MMORPG. Finally, and this is a rather obvious one, we can't be an active player if we want to participate. This is the opportunity for people to come back, so you must be currently "cancelled" as of May 13, 2025. This means that as long as you aren't subscribing by that day.

This is the first Return to Vana'diel FFXI campaign of 2025, but it hasn't been that long since Square Enix held one. The event appeared in December 2024. Over the winter holiday season, the promotion that allowed people to return and get the game for a lower price showed up too. It also appeared in August 2024 and May 2024. This means we could see it return again two more times in 2025 too.

As for the discounts, here is a list of the specific Square Enix sales that will run during the May 2025 event.

  • FFXI Seekers of Adoulin Expansion - $4.99 instead of $9.99.
  • FFXI Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition - $9.99 instead of $29.99.
  • FFXI World Transfer Service - $9 instead of $18.

Final Fantasy XI is available for PCs, and the Return to Vana'diel free login event and Discount Campaign will be back for potential FFXI players on May 16, 2025.

There is also some gameplay footage showing Goku (Mini) in the new area, wandering around alongside locals, and dealing with some encounters.

The end of that trailer introduced the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Daima Edition. That gives someone a copy of the game and parts 1-2 of Adventure Through the Demon Realm. That will only be available digitally.

Peanuts Tamagotchi Nano Makes Snoopy Into Your Pet Dog

Bandai Namco announced another Tamagotchi Nano model based on an existing series, and this time it is a Peanuts one that lets people raise Charlie Brown's pet dog Snoopy. It will debut in Japan on July 12, 2025. There's no US release date for it. It will cost 4,400円 (~$30).

When people get this version of the Tamagotchi, they are getting both the unit on a keychain and a case to protect it. In this instance, that accessory is shaped like Snoopy's red doghouse, which the virtual pet can be placed inside. The keychain portion will go through a hole in the roof.

As for characters, initial photos and information note that this Tamagotchi Nano will let you raise the famous dog when playing with the virtual pet, with Woodstock the bird also appearing. (It also mentioned Harriet, another bird that comes up during Beagle Scouts.) Since this model is more limited, there will only be three minigames and it doesn't feature a colored screen. It will, however, feature other Peanuts characters like Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Schroder during event segments and certain scenes. This is common, as we saw similar interactions in the Star Wars and Spy x Family models.

Here are the first photos and images Bandai Namco shared for the Peanuts Snoopy Tamagotchi Nano, which highlight the dog and ways we can care for the virtual pet. No Snoopy evolutions were shown yet, so we don't know if Joe Cool or the Flying Ace will appear as options depending on how well we care for the character.

Bandai Namco will release the Peanuts Snoopy Tamagotchi Nano in Japan on July 12, 2025.

Deltarune Chapters 1-4 Cross-Buy and Release Date Timing Shared

Toby Fox announced the exact release date timing for Deltarune Chapters 1-4 worldwide on all platforms in the May 2025 newsletter for the game, and the announcement also confirmed a cross-buy promotion. Since the game debuts at 12am JST on June 5, 2025, it will appear on June 4, 2025 in other regions. As for the cross-buy promotion, there is one for PlayStation versions and one for Nintendo ones.

First, here's the exact release date timing for Deltarune Chapters 1-4 in some major time zones:

  • Pacific Time: 8am PT on June 4, 2025
  • Eastern Time: 11am PT on June 4, 2025
  • Central European Time: 5pm CET on June 4, 2025
  • Japanese Standard Time: 12am JST on June 5, 2025
  • Australian Eastern Standard Time: 1am AEST on June 5, 2025

As for the Deltarune Chapters 1-4 cross-buy promotion, it is essentially tied to accounts. If someone buys a copy on the PlayStation Store, they immediately get the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. If someone heads to the Nintendo eShop, the account used will end up with both a Switch and Switch 2 version tied to it. However, Fox did note in the newsletter that Japan requires an additional fee due to laws, so that is the only region where an extra Switch or Switch 2 copy would be free.

Due to exact release timings, the Deltarune Chapters 1-4 release date in most regions will actually end up being June 4, 2025, with countries like Australia and Japan being exceptions. While 3 and 4 aren't out yet, you can play the first and second chapters for free now.

Raidou Remastered Free Summoner Titles DLC Dated

Atlus shared more details about Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, and that included free Summoner Title DLC. It will launch on July 3, 2025. The company also announced a Raidou Remastered social media contest that involves a chance to win a Raiho plush, which is a stuffed toy that makes a Jack Frost look like Raidou Kuzunoha XIV and is based on a fusion in-game, and shared some things we can unlock as we play.

In the case of the Raidou Remastered free DLC, it is called Demonic Designations: Summoner Titles. In March 2025, Atlus called for people to submit potential titles that could appear in-game on social media. This add-on will consist of those. Seven of them will be taken from people in North America who responded to the hashtag, and another three will be from Southeast Asia region responses. We don't know which titles will be in it yet.

As for the unlocks, they are all things we can experience either in our first run or subsequent Raidou Remastered playthrough. As mentioned earlier, we can get Raiho in-game. However, we will need to unlock that special fusion to gain that ally. There will also be certain Case Files that are optional sidequests. As we explore and go through the game, we can pause and assist other people and demons with their troubles. Finally, beating the game once unlocks the Detective Legend difficulty. This will be the most challenging option.

In the city, we'll get to go through Tsukudo-cho, which is where the Narumi Detective Agency headquarters is, Fukagawa-cho, Ginza-cho, Harumi-cho. You can play mahjong at headquarters, and that are a also features the Konnou-ya store. Ginza-cho is home of the Ryugu restaurant and Shin-Sekai Soda Joint. And in Fukagawa-cho, we'll find Dr. Tsukumo and his Amazing Science Lab.

Finally, there is the Mysterious Cases contest for a Raiho Raidou Remastered plush, which ended up revealed on social media. That allows people in the US and Canada attempt to win one of three of these stuffed toys, provided they signed up for the Summoner's Guild via the game's official site. That is open until June 20, 2025, and Atlus will pick the three winners after.

Here's the image of the Raiho plush:

Fantasy Life i Switch 2 Version and Upgrade Announced

Level-5 announced it will release a Switch 2 version of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, complete with an upgrade option for Switch owners, in the future. The official site announcement noted it is in the works, but it won't be out on May 21, 2025 alongside the other versions and the release date "will be announced at a later date." The US reveal didn't include a price, but the Japanese social media post said it will be 300円 (~$2).

So far, only two upgrades came up when Level-5 explained what will be different between the Switch and Switch 2 versions of Fantasy Life i. The company noted it will feature a high resolution. It didn't explain what that resolution will be, though. It also noted there will be high framerate supported with that version. Again, that wasn't specified. It will still need Nintendo Switch Online to play with others online. Also, cross-save is confirmed, so long as you make and log into your Epic Games account.

As a reminder, Level-5 already said people who get the Fantasy Life i Digital Deluxe Edition version on one console would need to also own that version of the game on another one to access the extra content via cross-save. It didn't note if this will apply to the Switch and Switch 2 versions, or if the 300円 (~$2) upgrade cost would cover that.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will come to the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 21, 2025, and the Switch 2 version is confirmed.

Review: DOOM: The Dark Ages Builds on DOOM and DOOM Eternal

There are times when I sometimes feel like DOOM: The Dark Ages might be one of the more accessible and inviting installments, yet at the same time could be too focused on prior releases' reveals and details. The gameplay is tight and encourages diverse strategies that use every item in your arsenal and the Chapters' locations are expansive and littered with secrets, which might make it inviting enough even if you don't know the whole backstory ahead of experiencing the newest game. While I do think I had a bit of a better time with DOOM Eternal, this is still a delight.

I missed the 2016 DOOM installment and, while DOOM: The Dark Ages is a prequel, it heavily relies upon knowledge of DOOM and DOOM Eternal. After all, it begins on Argent D'Nur with the Night Sentinels requesting Bishop Kreed Maykr dispatch the Doom Slayer to Khalim to face the forces of Hells attacking. Hell's Prince Ahzrak. However, it's clear the Doom Slayer is under Maykr control, with a rather notable piece of technology on his chest pointing to a degree of control, and we learn about this new threat, the fate of an organization, and the familiar figure's beginnings along the way. A very brief four sentences set the stage before we're plunged into protecting Khalim, and I felt id Software often assumed I'd be familiar with characters and situations.

To start, the execution and implementation of DOOM: The Dark Ages is downright perfect. It welcomes players from both ends of the spectrum. There are six difficulty levels, as well as some settings in options that can be adjust. So Aspiring Slayer feels like a somewhat easy experience that lets someone newer to the series or perhaps with less experience with the genre still cut through enemies, learn the mechanics, and feel powerful thanks to damage modifiers, parry windows, less aggressive enemies, and things like aim assist. Meanwhile, Ultra-Nightmare difficulty is available from the very outset and essentially punishes you for any lapse in awareness or mistake. Enemies are savage, know exactly where you are, and hunt you down, you don't get any saves, you need to find Life Sigils to recover, the parry window is shorter, and if you die the campaign is completely over. You can also swap to different ones at any time as you play, in case you need more (or less) of a challenge. Couple this with tutorials that are well implemented as new weapons and mechanics are introduced and Chapters set up so enemies susceptible to them appear for you to gain experience.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1i3YfGl5ag&ab_channel=BethesdaSoftworks

While 2016's DOOM and DOOM Eternal seemed a little faster pace, I found I benefitted more by leaning into the Doom Slayer's more thoughtful and methodical movements in DOOM: The Dark Ages. This isn't to say that you can't move fast. I adored a strike carried out with the shield that lets you lock onto an enemy and essentially dash and smash into them to deal massive damage and perhaps even collateral damage to entities around it. Once you've set up an enemy for a finishing blow, you can tap a button to zip in and smash. Also, depending on the difficulty and your abilities, you could probably rush in if you want! But there ended up being so many moments when taking my time, analyzing the situation, and responding before immediately reacting and rushing in worked toward my benefit. Letting enemies come to me meant I could use melee hits, including the finisher that would force it to drop all types of necessary ammo. Parrying some ranged blasts could send them back, dealing more damage in a single counter than I could by wasting a few bullets or direct hits.

Another thing id Software nailed with DOOM: The Dark Ages involved making each type of weapon feel different and important. It is to your benefit to not rely on one type of attack, since swapping between them often is the best approach for not only dealing with hordes, but even with certain heavier types of foes. In some cases, you'll need to use a standard gun, such as a Shotgun or Shredder, to superheat a shield and use a Shield Saw to destroy the enemy. Or when there's a larger foe that can take more hits surrounded by Zombies and Soldiers, using a Shield Saw to stun them, swapping to the Accelerator for a faster rate of fire, then jumping in with a melee Power Gauntlet strike to ensure it drops ammo you need. And since bringing up the weapon wheel to swap guns is also easy, it could be just as handy to use an Accelerator to get rid of enemies with Energy Shields, then swap to something like Pulverizer to take out larger groups. The recoil feels good on the PS5, the feedback is fine, and the speakers in the controller chime in with sounds taken from the assault. And the execution means every attack feels different, so there's a faster pace with the Flail than the Power Gauntlet, and you could feel the weight of the Mace. The only complaint I have is that, unless I did feel like I needed ammo, I sometimes was so satisfied with the guns and Shield Saw that I didn't resort to melee. Melee does work well and can be another effective option in the arsenal, but the shooting is so punchy and shield so useful that it sometimes can't compare.

In addition to those typical means of assaulting foes, DOOM: The Dark Ages includes the ability to fight off foes in an Atlan mech or ride a Mecha Dragon. While I liked the concept behind both, especially the dragon, I feared they'd be a bit of a gimmick ahead of launch that wouldn't mesh with what we expect from a DOOM game. Now that I've played, I still think the concept behind the Mecha Dragon is incredibly cool and I get why they would feel important for a sense of progress and scale, but these segments didn't really click with me. It is fine and doesn't ruin the experience since they aren't a major focus in stages, but I recommend tempering your expectations for them and not expecting too much. I feel like the more diverse gameplay in Chapters spoiled me a bit. I got so used to setting the pace and choosing between varied types of assaults. So while these are totally serviceable, especially since they are rather infrequent, I didn't find them as much fun.

What I will say is I appreciated the spectacle of them, as well as the settings for all the chapters. I love the mash-up between medieval armor, weaponry, and elements alongside the advanced relics, technology, and guns. They go together so well, I found myself sometimes finding the many types of collectibles scattered throughout Chapters because I'd occasionally take in my surroundings and explore set pieces once I'd eliminated demons. It's especially impressive when in outdoor settings and seeing titanic demons facing off against one another. They're massive, and again I'd stop and watch their reign of terror or fights against equally gargantuan foes or dragons. Also, as you'd expect, the soundtrack is great and filled with metal that amps up at appropriate moments.

Another perk to it is the layout and size of each Chapter makes replaying an attractive prospect. There are multiple types of collectibles, such as Codex Entries or Skins, that can be hidden away. Spaces can have multiple layers to them, inviting you to drop down into spots or explore to see if you can reach certain spots. A map can be checked, in case you're looking for assistance or trying to suss out a secret. I also found the level design meant there would be a natural flow even if I did venture off the beaten path, which I appreciated. It's very well thought out.

DOOM: The Dark Ages feels packed with situations that test a player and challenge them to use every element in their arsenal. Not to mention, it's also quite accessible and filled with collectibles that make it worth replaying Chapters in its story. However, I do feel like it is geared toward people who played DOOM and DOOM Eternal, with a narrative that sometimes necessitates prior knowledge of the storyline since 2016. Also, the mecha dragon and Atlan mech sections don't leave the sort of grand impression one might expect.

DOOM: The Dark Ages will come to the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 15, 2025.

Destiny 2 Gryphon vehicle

Destiny 2's new vehicular slaughter-fest PvP mode Heavy Metal just went live, and it's cool, but the real draw is the new vehicle type you can get for playing it. It's called the Gryphon and it rocks.

I paid-to-win for the Gryphon (I had the Silver, don't judge me) so you don't have to, but I did it to let you know that the vehicle is definitely worth grinding for otherwise. It's slower than a Sparrow, but feels tankier, too, and it has two different weapons to use while on the move.

Destiny 2 Gryphon vehicle gameplay
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Gryphon is the third option for personal vehicles now in Destiny 2, and it may be my new favorite. While the Sparrow offers the basic ride everyone has known since 2014, and the Skimmer is like a wild surfboard/skateboard to move quickly and do tricks on, the Gryphon is all about bangin'.

When you hop in your Gryphon, you'll notice the slight sluggishness compared to the other vehicles, but there's also the big blue reticle on screen that lets you know immediately that it's ready to kick some ass. The primary fire for the Gryphon is a shotgun-like blast with decent range and can one-shot red bar enemies while on patrol, which is a welcome change from just letting them blast you in the face while you drive by.

But the Gryphon also has a secondary fire, like the Drake or Fallen Brig in Heavy Metal, which locks on to enemies and launches projectiles at them from afar. Speed-wise, the Gryphon is easily the slowest of the three vehicles in the game, but it doesn't matter when you can kill enemies in three different ways now.

Sometimes you gotta go fast, but other times you can't be bothered with hopping off of your vehicle to blast an enemy in the face, and that's where the Gryphon comes in. And if this isn't your thing and you don't care, that's fine, there's plenty of Sparrows to choose from. But I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more Gryphons in the future.

Heavy Metal itself is pretty meh, honestly. One team has Drake tanks while the other has Fallen Brigs in the three-vs-three mode, and it's meant to be silly and not taken seriously, but it was so clunky that I just used my on-hand Silver to get the Gryphon and move on with my time. You may do the same, but you don't have to.

Heavy Metal overview in Destiny 2
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can unlock the Gryphon for free by completing Heavy Metal challenges (the mode's event where you claim the Gryphon will be here for one week), so it's worth grabbing if you can. If you want it right now, you can purchase all of the rewards in the Heavy Metal event for 1,500 Silver, too. It's up to you.

Disney Dreamlight Valley bugged item during Furniture Fluster quest

While completing the Cheshire Cat's Furniture Fluster quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, there's a chance you'll encounter bugs preventing you from picking up furniture. This can happen in multiple instances, such as in Aladdin's house with his flower pot or in WALL-E's house while grabbing a rusty metal bench.

Encountering this bug stops you from progressing in the mission and completing the Cheshire Cat's friendship quests. Fortunately, there are some solutions that, more often than not, will solve this problem. Let's dive into how to fix the Furniture Fluster quest's item pickup bug in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

What is Disney Dreamlight Valley's Furniture Fluster quest bug?

The most common bug you'll encounter during the Cheshire Cat's Furniture Fluster quest prevents you from picking up objects in Aladdin and WALL-E's house. In the mission, you'll discover cutesy purple furniture items in Aladdin's house, followed by several metal objects in Daisy's.

There's a chance you won't find a "pick up" option while hovering over these items, even after restarting your game or moving around at different angles. At the time of writing, its cause is unknown, but it can happen on any of Disney Dreamlight Valley's platforms.

How to fix the Furniture Fluster quest's pick-up bug

The best way to fix this issue is to drop multiple objects near your bugged item and use Disney Dreamlight Valley's "pick up multiple objects" feature. Your character will start picking up these items, including nearby bugged furniture pieces.

Since the issue stems from not being able to find the pickup option after hovering over an object, using this bypasses that, letting your character act as normal. If it doesn't work right away, try dropping more objects or placing them closer to the furniture piece. Your best bet is to stand right on top of it and drop a few random items before picking them up again.

Disney Dreamlight Valley fixing Furniture Fluster bugged item
Screenshot by Destructoid

If this doesn't work, you can try some troubleshooting options below as potential easy fixes:

  • Restart Disney Dreamlight Valley
  • Restore to a local save that takes place before you started the quest
  • Play on a different platform if you own multiple copies of Disney Dreamlight Valley
  • Uninstall and reinstall Disney Dreamlight Valley

In rare cases, restarting your game or uninstalling and reinstalling it will solve the bug without further issues. If you have access to a local save from shortly before encountering this problem, you can try to restore this point and replay the quest.

At the time of writing, Gameloft hasn't publicly announced that they're aware of the bug or updated their DDV Issue Tracker Trello about it. Nonetheless, they regularly release hotfixes and bug fix patches for the game, so there's a possibility they'll resolve this issue shortly after the quest's release. In the meantime, the solutions above can help you work around the bug, letting you progress through the rest of the Cheshire Cat's questline and eventually unlock the Uncrafting Station.

Dune: Awakening game cover

Despite the delay, the Dune: Awakening Beta has stirred up serious buzz as it opens to eager players. While getting in might be tough, a few tactics can boost your odds. Whether you're a devoted fan or an MMO enthusiast, here's how to improve your chances of early access.

How to get into Dune: Awakening Beta

You can access the Dune: Awakening Beta through three different methods. Instead of relying on just one, it's best to try all three, as doing so will significantly increase your chances. Let's break down each method:

The first two steps are straightforward, offering Beta sign-ups right out of the gate. While they're easy to complete, they don't guarantee a code. That's where the Twitch stream might give you an edge. According to the official Beta page, "tens of thousands" of codes will be up for grabs during the stream, but the window could be short. Timing is everything, so be sure to stay alert and ready when it drops.

No matter which step you've taken, make sure to check your email daily. Be on the lookout for Steam notifications—you don't want to miss out when that code hits your inbox.

When does the Dune: Awakening Beta Twitch stream start?

The Dune: Awakening Global LAN Party Broadcast begins on May 10 at 12pm PT/ 3pm ET/ 8pm BST/ 9pm CET. Tune into the Funcom Twitch channel to watch two houses battle it out and possibly gain access to the Beta.

https://twitter.com/DuneAwakening/status/1920539390440583515

Team Harkonnen and Team Atreides will take center stage for this stream, where we will likely see some PvP action. There's no telling how long the broadcast will last, but it will hopefully go on for a few hours to give viewers more chances for the Beta.

What's included in the Dune: Awakening Beta?

Dune: Awakening's Beta Weekend includes the following content:

  • The first 20-25 hours of gameplay
  • CHOAM Building Set
  • Hagga Basin South Region
  • Eastern and Western Vermillius Gap Region
  • Parts of the Act 1 storyline
  • Construct and drive a Sandbike
  • Early and mid-game combat

Even though it's just a Beta Weekend, this limited-time access offers a lot, with up to 25 hours of gameplay. If you're fortunate enough to gain access, you'll join a server accommodating up to 40 players. During this Beta Weekend, the focus will be on PvE, where you can collaborate to survive or build sandy empires together. However, if you're in the mood for some competition, there will be areas specifically for PvP combat.

Characters in Dune: Awakening
Image via Funcom

Those interested in the story can play through most of Act 1 with their customized character, though naturally, it won't include as much content as the full launch. Progress made during the Beta Weekend won't carry over, so you'll have to start fresh when the game officially releases. This weekend is mainly about getting a feel for the gameplay and preparing for what's ahead.

When does the Dune: Awakening Beta end?

The Beta Weekend wraps up on May 12 at 2:59pm PT / 5:59pm ET / 10:59pm BST / 11:59pm CEST. Once it ends, all eyes are on the full launch. There will be many more regions to explore, along with iconic vehicles like Ornithopters and Buggies. You'll also be able to meet up with other Dune: Awakening players in the new social hub, allowing you to trade items across servers using the Exchange. So, get ready for its full release, and dig into the Beta while you can. The sandworms are waiting for you beneath the surface.

Juri Kiriko skin in OW2 SF6 collab

For a while now, I've felt a bit fatigued with the sheer amount of crossover and collab skins in Overwatch 2. But after seeing the new Street Fighter 6 skins coming in a couple weeks, I'm over those feelings entirely and ready for more.

When I got wind of OW2's SF6 collab recently, some hero-fighter combos immediately sprung to mind, and I think Blizzard Entertainment and Capcom did a really good job matching up the characters from the two iconic franchises to make for a really cool collab.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=schtk917iRU

There's eight total skins in the collab, featuring Juno as Chun-Li, Widowmaker as Cammy, Hanzo as Ryu, Winston as Blanka, Kiriko as Juri, Soldier: 76 as Guile, Sigma as M. Bison, and Zenyatta as Dhalsim. And they're just perfect.

I'm really excited to see the costumes in-game, but the reveal trailer for the collab was also just very well done in generating hype at EVO Japan for its announcement, in spite of the collab leaking last week as part of another PlayStation Network oopsie.

While OW2 is certainly not quite at Fortnite's levels of metaverse collaboration city yet, it's starting to approach that territory. And I'm realizing now I don't really mind it if the skins are cool enough, and this one knocks it out of the park on just about every level for me, so I'm on fully on board.

Of course, not everyone is thrilled. When the announcement dropped this morning, players gleaned the news to find disappointment that certain heroes and combos were left out. Many wished for Mei to dress as Chun-Li, while others are continually vocal about heroes like Juno and Kiriko getting more skins yet again.

Another gamer was quick to call out that heroes such as Sojourn, Lucio, Baptiste, and Doomfist have been left in the dust while the same few heroes have gotten several collab skins. And many have expressed sadness that Zarya as Marisa, both muscular women with pink hair, seems to have been left out somehow.

I understand the frustration of these players, but I also think Blizzard is deliberate with the heroes it chooses for these collabs. The company knows that Kiriko, Juno, and Mercy will always sell well, so it makes sense for them from a business standpoint to have them in the store as much as possible.

In a perfect world, the entire roster would get collab skins each time around. But for one reason or another, sacrifices are made, and that means the same few popular heroes will get the love as long as the money is flowing in. And judging by my lobbies, collab skins are a big hit for OW2.

As far as future collabs go (there's now one or two every single season), I've felt indifferent about the anime collabs as in the past as that's not my thing, but I'd love to see some other gaming franchises (or even more universal ones like Marvel Comics) join the game in fun ways.

Vote with your wallet on how you feel about the skins when the OW2 x SF6 collab goes live on May 20.

Leia holding Mace Windu's Purple Lightsaber in front of a Training Rift Gate in Fortnite

There are several powerful Jedi and Sith characters hanging around the island for Fortnite's Star Wars Galactic Battle season. Mace Windu is one of them, and he's got a special Purple Lightsaber for you if you can find him.

Mace Windu and his unique Purple Lightsaber are absolutely iconic in the Star Wars films, so if you want a shot at meeting him and wielding his unique weapon, you have to act fast. Here's where to find Mace Windu and his Purple Lightsaber in Fortnite.

Mace Windu location in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

Unfortunately, Mace Windu doesn't have a fixed spawn location on the island. He can, however, always be found at the purple Training Rift Gate icons on the map.

Mace Windu also doesn't appear as an actual character on the map. Instead, he's a temporary hologram who remains only until a player interacts with him. This makes him a decently tricky individual to meet up with.

When does Mace Windu spawn in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle?

Mace Windu's Training Rift Gate generally seems to spawn around one or two minutes into each match after the first storm circle has passed. His appearance is fairly random and unpredictable, though, so just watch out for the Purple Lightsaber icon on your map to have the best chance of spotting his arrival.

How to get a Purple Lightsaber in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

To acquire a Purple Lightsaber, you need to be the first one through one of Mace Windu's Training Rift Gates. He only offers one at each gate, so if someone beats you to it, you cannot get his weapon from that gate anymore, as it disappears immediately after.

While most NPCs you can find around the map have a few items for sale, Mace Windu is a special hologram character who has nothing for sale and only one dialogue option. All other hologram characters function the same and exist solely to give you a shot at acquiring a Lightsaber and force abilities.

Although the main way to get a Purple Lightsaber is from Mace Windu himself, you can also earn one by defeating players who have one in their inventory. You don't get force training from Mace Windu using this method, though, which means you won't have access to his special force abilities.

What does the Purple Lightsaber do in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle?

The Purple Lightsaber is a melee weapon that functions exactly the same as all other Lightsabers, so you can use to to slice down enemies and unlock the Force Jump move. If you acquire this weapon directly from Mace Windu, you also get the Force Pull ability with it.

Using Mace Windu's Force Pull ability in Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

Mace Windu's Force Pull ability can bring all nearby objects towards you. If you aim it at large structures like buildings, you'll rip them apart piece by piece. This power also works against players and vehicles like TIE Fighters. I even used it to damage structures from beyond 22 meters away during Han Solo's story quests, so it's pretty versatile and powerful in most situations.

Speaking to Owyn about Arena ranks

Leveling up is crucial in Oblivion Remastered, but there's a maximum limit on how much you can grow your character.

There's no doubt about a level cap existing in the Remastered version, just like it did for the original one. But the exact number has never been mentioned clearly, and the only way to know it is to reach that magical point.

How does level cap work in Oblivion Remastered?

Leveling up has different aspects inside the game. Every time you level up, you'll get Virtue Points. These points can then be spent across all eight attributes. Ideally, you should spend more on all attributes, barring Luck (because of how this attribute works in particular).

You also gain XP as you level up your Major and Minor Skills (which can be done by using them). You'll keep leveling up your character as you keep earning XP. Once you hit the level cap, you won't be able to grow your characters anymore.

Attributes in Oblivion Remastered
Screenshot by Destructoid

Do note that the level cap of your character is different from the cap that's applicable for the skills. Just like your character, your skills (both Major and Minor) will keep growing as you use them more. Skills also have a cap, but that works separately.

What is the level cap in Oblivion Remastered?

While I have yet to reach the level cap, other users in the community have already figured out what the highest value. If you don't use any console commands, the highest level a character can reach is level 45. Interestingly, you'll have to mix-max the process to reach this value. However, you shouldn't have to think too hard to reach level 44, which is still pretty great.

There are eight attributes, and you can take them all to level 100. You can also take any two to level 110, but for that, you'll have to forego the Luck stat. The Luck stat works differently from others and requires more point investment.

That's pretty much all the level caps that you'll have to keep in mind. Of course, you can always resort to console commands to bypass the limits, but you'll stop gaining XP once the cap is reached (and it will also prevent you from completing any achievements).

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been such a hit with gamers since launching a few weeks ago that it's had a cultural impact in the gaming community.

Aside from players logging online to share their thoughts and feelings about the story, gamers have also been attempting to "break the game" with character builds to destroy bosses with big damage numbers, none bigger than those produced by Maelle. Well, things are changing for the young fencer with a new update today.

Read on below for the Expedition 33 patch notes for update 1.2.3, the game's first substantial patch since launch.

Expedition 33 patch notes: Update 1.2.3 - May 9

Maelle Expedition 33
Screenshot by Destructoid

Stendhal, Maelle's game-breaking Skill, has had its damage nerfed by a whopping 40 percent. That's a lot, but Sandfall says you should still be able to "break the game" with different builds, but this specific skill was egregiously strong and making things a bit unbalanced.

"We hadn't planned to make any balance changes this early—just bug fixes, unless something clearly stood out," Sandfall said. "Well, Stendhal did. It was underwhelming for most of development, so in our final pre-release balance pass, we gave it a big damage boost—and clearly overdid it. It ended up overshadowing most other options."

With specific builds, Maelle was able to do over two billion damage with Stendhal, erasing anything in the game in one hit. That's obviously not ideal, regardless of whether the game is singleplayer only or not.

Here's the rest of the patch notes from Sandfall, now live in-game.

Weapon and skill fixes and tuning

  • Fixed Lithelim attribute scaling not working at high level. Reduced initial Vitality scaling from A to C (will still end at S at max level). Added Luck scaling starting at D.
  • Fixed Blizzon attribute scaling not working at high level. Reduced initial Luck scaling from B to C (will still end at S at max level). Added Defense scaling starting at D.
  • Fixed Medalum third Lumina doubling all damage in Virtuose Stance instead of doubling only Burn damage.
  • Stendhal: Reduced damage by 40 percent.

Various Ultrawide Fixes

  • Gameplay no longer becomes zoomed after a cutscene occurs in ultrawide resolutions
  • The Options menu image will no longer be stretched in ultrawide resolutions
  • Combat UI now adapts correctly to ultrawide resolutions
  • Game will no longer minimize upon changing settings in ultrawide resolution
  • Cutscenes won't letterbox in 32:9 aspect ratio
  • Title screen now displays fullscreen when the game is launched in ultrawide resolution

Mouse and Keyboard

  • UI button prompts in Expedition Menu are now visible and fully able to be triggered with Keyboard
  • Mouse buttons do not become unresponsive after first use
  • With mouse cursor on screen, using 'WASD' or directional arrows to navigate in UI or trigger any other functionality will no longer hide the cursor instead of doing the intended action
  • Left Mouse-button click will no longer block the player from using Keyboard to navigate menus
  • Mouse input is not lost after the first Jump counter attack if it is pressed only once

Fixed areas of the world map where you can get stuck

  • Between lanterns scattered on the ground near Stone Wave Cliff portal
  • While walking on the ship wreck near the Forgotten Battlefield level entrance
  • Between lanterns on the ground near Bourgeon encounter next to Stone Wave Cliffs level
  • Between two small rocks located between Spring Meadows and Abbest Cave
  • Between vases and corals when jumping from rooftopps
  • Between various rocks
  • In ruins behind Flying Manor level entrance
  • Near the bridge between Flying Waters and Spring Meadows
  • In the rocks on the World Map, near Flying Waters
  • Next to hardened land, close to the Flying Waters location exit

Fixed situations where Esquie specifically would get stuck

  • When taking off from paint bridges, making him fall through the bridge and restrict movement
  • When flying into bottom parts of levitating structures near Visages
  • Near the Flying Waters entrance level
  • Near a giant hammer when traversing close to Blades' Graveyard level

Other fixes

  • Boss encounter in Stone Wave Cliffs can now be finished on NG+
  • You will no longer be blocked by the Journal UI window after opening the first Journal in the Spring Meadows
  • Fixed being unable to shoot in Free aim while exploring levels due to worn triggers
  • Lune and Monoco no longer spawn in same place during end of theirs Level 6 relationship quests if they are completed without going to camp
  • If at camp you pick "remember the objective", then quickly choose to "go to sleep" and immediately after press "leave", the screen no longer goes black
  • You can no longer trigger the "Discovering the truth" cutscene in Old Lumière a second time in a row, splitting the party forever with only Verso and Maelle in it.
  • Update to rolling credits.

Fortnite rocks blocking access to empire cache

During Leia's quests in Fortnite's Star Wars Galactic Battle season, she'll ask you to investigate nearby cannons, enter a secret Empire cache, and check out an Imperial console within a massive mountain. She wants to acquire a data log about the Empire's operations, and it's our job to help her.

But the entrance to the secret Empire cache is initially blocked by rocks. Fortunately, clearing away these rocks is quick and easy once you figure out the solution. Here's how to enter the secret Empire cache in Fortnite Chapter Six, season three.

How to open the Secret Empire Cache in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

You'll find the Secret Empire Cache for Leia's Story quests southeast of Brutal Boxcars atop a large mountain. If you're starting from Leia's beginning quest spot, you'll need to run past Brutal Boxcars and use the nearby ziplines or run up the mountain toward your quest marker.

Fortnite empire cache map
Screenshot by Destructoid

As you approach your quest marker, you'll spot a cave entrance blocked by massive boulders. To clear away these rocks, you'll need to hotwire a nearby cannon so it shoots towards the cave, opening the way to loot and an imperial console. You'll spot this cannon directly south of the cave atop a broken tank.

Fortnite cannon to open the empire cache entrance
Screenshot by Destructoid

Watch out for other players as you approach this area, hotwire the cannon, and enter the cache's cave. Other players are likely to join you to finish their quests, resulting in occasional skirmishes that can quickly eliminate you if you're unprepared. Use nearby chests and floor loot to your advantage so you can defeat them before they can beat you.

If someone eliminates you during your Fortnite matches while you're entering this cache cave, you'll have to hotwire the cannon and explore the area again. To make things quicker, try to land here after jumping from the Battle Bus so you don't have to scale the mountain again.

How to investigate the Secret Empire Cache Imperial Console

Once you enter the Secret Empire Cache's cave, you'll notice several treasure chests to open and a new quest objective to investigate an Imperial Console. You'll spot this console directly to your right after entering the cave.

Fortnite imperial console
Screenshot by Destructoid

Much like consoles you use to activate TIE Fighter planes, you only need to interact with the console briefly to finish the quest. You can also loot the nearby treasure chests along the way in case a player comes by and attempts to fight you. Just watch out for anyone who tries to sneak up on you.

Once you investigate the console, return to Leia to tell her about the Empire's movements. She'll thank you for your efforts, rewarding you with some account XP towards the season's battle pass. You're now ready to find other Fortnite Galactic Battles NPCs and complete their quests for additional XP rewards.

Plants in Revenge of the Savage Planet

Revenge of the Savage Planet has a fair few celestial bodies to unlock, and you can explore all of them.

While all of us begin on Stellaris Prime, the starter planet, it's a fairly easy place to explore, and has a lot of various elements to eat away your time. But you'll want to move on quickly as there are four more planets to explore.

All planets in Revenge of the Savage Planet

There are five planets in total in the game. The game begins with everyone beginning at Stellaris Prime, and exploring it would take a fair amount of time. While it's cool in its own right, you'll spend more time exploring the four other planets that you gradually unlock.

  • Stellaris Prime (starter planet, filled with a lot of plants)
  • Xephyr (Reminds me of a massive rocky desert)
  • Zenethian Rift (You'll find both Lava and Ice on this extreme planet)
  • Quasadron IX (Filled with a lot of water bodies)
  • Slappi's Den of Fun (Strange planet, to say the least).

Let's take a look at how you can unlock all the planets.

One of the planets in Revenge of the Savage Planet
Screenshot by Raccoon Logic Studios

How to unlock all the planets in Revenge of the Savage Planet

You'll unlock Xephyr, Zenethian Rift, and Quasadron IX as part of the main story, although you'll have to complete specific tasks.

Planent How to Complete
Stellaris Prime This is the starter planet that's unlocked by default.
Xephyr This planet will be unlocked once you build the Planetary Cannon.
Zenethian Rift You'll have to defeat Wormzilla (can be a tricky task), and get the Mag Fork.
Quasadron IX You'll have to defeat Clawbarella and also obtain the Underwater Scooter.
Slappi's Den of Fun Complete all the of Slappi's Shrines, and research the Pentaforce.

Slappi's Den of Fun will take the longest time to unlock, and you'll have to gain access to all the other planets. The last of his shrines are located on Quasadron IX, and you'll need to complete all of them in order to gain access. It's also an optional task to do, and not part of the main story. However, you should look to get access to all the planets purely for culture (if not anything else).

Once you unlock a new planet, you can freely travel between all the available ones as you like.

Which is the biggest planet in Revenge of the Savage Planet?

From my understanding, there's no clear cut way to determine the planet size inside the game. It's pretty clear that the sizes of the the planets (yet to explore Quasadron IX and Slappi's) is pretty much the same. Some like Xephyr can feel larger due to the nature of the biome, but it's pretty evident they're all of the same sizes.

An Infernal holding a Scythe from Fire Force Reignition. There is a title on top and bottom of the page

When you create a character in Fire Force Reignition (previously known as "Fire Force Online"), the game randomly selects your Clan, your Generation, your Subclass, and your Abilities. Unfortunately, all three of these things are important, especially the last two. Your Generation in Fire Force Reignition determines which Abilities you could potentially get, and not all of them are as powerful or as useful. To help you know which abilities are better than others, we created this Fire Force Reignition Abilities Tier List.

Fire Force Online Abilities Tier List

When you create a character, the game will randomly assign you to Generation 1, Generation 2, Generation 3, or Generation 5 (yup, no Generation 4, for some reason). Additionally, you can also become an Infernal and get completely different abilities (unless you are Generation 1).

You can tell which Generation you are by the number of bars you have in the bottom right side of the screen (Gen 1 only has 1, Gen 2 has 2, etc.). Additionally, the game will randomly determine which skill trees you get to learn, based on your generation. You can pay Robux and reroll your Abilities, and get new ones in your current Generation, OR you can completely roll your Generation.

In a way, think of Generations as different races, and know that each race can only learn its own abilities. Because of this, we are going to make several ability tier lists (one for each generation and one for Infernals). Generation 5 doesn't get a Tier list because there's only one ability (Benimaru, which is amazing), but we will add a list as soon as the devs add more.

Fire Force Reignition Generation 1 Abilities Tier List

A Tier list of the best abilities in Fire Force Reignition Generation 1
Image via Tiermaker / Remix by Destructoid

Generation 1 is the only Generation without magical (elemental) abilities. Instead, you'll be relying on your weapon. You can still be just as powerful as other Generations, but you won't be able to cast fireballs, nor will you be able to become an Infernal.

Tier Ability Name Info
SS
Mizu
Out of all the weapons, most players seem to agree that Mizu is one of the most effective.
It's quick, it can dash, it can toss enemies, and it's great for breaking guards. Good at both PvP and PvE.
S
Rifle
Even though many players don't like the Rifle, its long range is what makes it so popular.
You can fire shots at enemies and even toss grenades, and if that doesn't work, just whack your enemy.
A
Pilebunker
Pilebunker is a bit hard to learn, but once you master the moves, you'll get a powerful set of moves, fit for almost any situation.
You can guard break, dash, do combo moves, and throw enemies around. Pilebunker has everything.
A
Lai Fist
If you like close combat and are good at guarding and countering, the Lai Fists are a great pick.
They rely on quick moves and timing, instead of brute force. Not exactly beginner-friendly, but pretty deadly when used correctly.
B
Axe 'n' Gun
Axe 'n' Gun looks cool and is fun to use. It is also great for breaking guards.
Mostly good for PvP, but can be a good pick for PvE too.
C
Katana
The Katana is very weird. Some love it, some hate it. In our experience, it's a lot of fun, but it's also unreliable.
The Soul Unbound is tricky to pull off, and many moves don't always land.
C
Shield
The Shield isn't a bad weapon, but it definitely has a long learning process.
However, even if you do master the Shield, you'll find that it just isn't as good as other Gen 1 abilities.

Fire Force Reignition Generation 2 Abilities Tier List

A Gen 2 Ability tier list from Fire Force Reignition
Image via TierMaker / Remix by Destructoid

Generation 2 are humans who were born with the natural ability to use fire. The good ones become powerful Fire Force members, while the bad ones can go off and become Infernals. According to most players, being a Gen 2 (and especially Gen 3) is more fun than being a Gen 1.

Tier Ability Name Info
S
Liberation Fist
Fast paced, can break guards, fire enemies from a distance, and even send them flying. It's easy to use and very powerful.
A
Charon
Looks cool, easy to grind with. Some say it's the best in Gen 2, but most agree it's not the best.
Definitely a fun one to have as a Gen 2.
B
Sickles
Sickles used to be one of the best abilities in the game before the devs nerfed it.
Now, it's not the best, but it's still very good with its wide attacks, grab moves, and guard breaks.
B
Sputter and Flare
Sputter and Flare is actually a really good ability; it just takes a while to learn how to use it.
It's definitely one of those abilities you need to play around with, and the more you do, the better it gets.
C
Gun
The gun can be powerful, but it's very unreliable and combo-locks you into place with most of its abilities.
Some swear by it, but many seem to agree it's not the best.
C
Dual Crossblades
Dual crossblades aren't bad; they are just really confusing to use. Most players try to learn, give up, and just reroll for something else.
D
Ice
You shoot Ice using a Trumpet. It doesn't work well, and most players reroll if they get this ability.

Fire Force Reignition Generation 3 Abilities Tier List

Fire Force Reignition Gen 3 Ability Tier list
Image via TierMaker / Remix by Destructoid

Arguably, the best and most fun Generation in Fire Force Reignition. Gen 3 is like a mix between the last two generations and uses more than just fire abilities as elements.

Tier Ability Name Info
SS
Dragon
Out of all the abilities, Dragon does the most damage.
It's great for farming, great for PvP, and even the best looking.
SS
Excalibur
Excalibur looks cool, does a bunch of damage, and has a ton of moves that can win you battles.
It has several guard breaks, a dash move, and a wide attack. It's really one of the best abilities for Gen 3.
S
Joker
Joker used to be the best. Now it's just really, really good.
Essentially, you use fire to trick your opponent, cut them down, or just throw fireballs at them.
Still a fan favorite and a ton of fun to use.
S
Lightning
Who needs fire when you've got the power of thunder?
Smite your enemies with bolts, hurl lightning balls at them, stun them, and throw them.
Another great ability for Gen 3.
A
Ogun
Ogun is really good in PvE. Because of its wide range of abilities, it's great for farming enemies.
It's not the most popular, but many Ogun users swear by it.
B
Sakura
Sakura is really fun to use, but not always useful. It's fantastic in 1v1 PvP but not great for PvE.
It relies mostly on stuns, grabs, and breaking blocks.
B
Ash
Ash is really good in some situations and really bad in others.
Use the power of burned Ash to materialize weapons and get a decent range of abilities.
It's not the best, but certainly not the worst.
C
Grand Hands
Also known as the Clapper. Many players say this is only good for farming mobs, and we agree.
Despite the wide range, Grand Hands are really clunky to use. Some players even said that
using them too much makes the game lag.
C
Devil's Footprint
The Devil's Footprint is only good in 1v1, and even then, you'd need to get pretty close
to your opponent to make it count. Despite looking cool, the abilities are kind of clunky.
D
Voltage Nova
A lot of players suggest you simply reroll your abilities if you get Voltage Nova because of how bad it is.
This is because, while the abilities themselves aren't bad, they take forever to cast.
So, if you're rocking Voltage Nova, get used to lagging behind a bit.
D
Explosive Flame
You use explosive flames, how can that be bad? Many players call this ability "garbage" and suggest you reroll it.
While it can do decent damage, the moves are really difficult to pull off. By the time you learn
how to properly use Explosive Flame, you're better off just using almost any other ability.

Fire Force Reignition Infernal Ability Tier List

A Fire Force Reignition Tier list of all Infernal Abilities
Screenshot via TierMaker / Remix by Destructoid

If you don't want to be just a human controlling the power of flame, then just become an Infernal. Many players say that it's more fun to play Fire Force Reignition as the bad guy, anyway. As an Infernal, you can also get your own abilities, and some of them are pretty sweet.

Tier Ability Name Info
SS
Greatsword
If you hang out with Infernals, you'll likely notice a few Greatswords around.
Not only do they look cool, but they do a ton of damage, and can hit multiple enemies.
You can even apply fire to them to make the hit even harder. Absolutely OP.
S
Scythe
Sythe is the next best thing after Greatsword. In general, it's much harder to escape a Scythe wielder than a Greatsword user.
Scythes are definitely more useful in PvP, but it's not like they can't hold their own in PvE, either.
Great pick for any Infernal.
A
Doom Claw
Doom Claw is a little tricky to use, but can be just as effective as the top-tiered abilities.
Doom Claw users rely on launching their opponents into the air and then beating them up with claws.
A lot of fun, even though they are lagging a bit behind.
B
Summoner
Here's the thing about Summoners. They are effective, can do a lot of damage, but most of the players hate them because all they do is spam.
Summoners mostly rely on their M1 to spam summon things. Because of this, many consider it a zero-skill ability.
Other than that, it's not bad at all, just a bit spammy.
C
Oni
Whenever a player asks what's the best Infernal Ability after Greatsword, players often say "Anything except Oni", and we tend to agree.
Oni is the only ability that relies on precise attacks that don't always work, and end up missing.
There are players who still like Oni, but most say to just reroll for a different Infernal Ability.

That's all there is to it. Have fun playing Fire Force Reignition, and we hope you get some abilities you actually like to use. In the meantime, check out our Fire Force Rignition Clans Tier List and our Fire Force Reignition Subclass Tier List to see which ones are the best.

Chun Li skin in Overwatch 2

A special Street Fighter collaboration has been announced for Overwatch 2, and there's plenty of special content coming soon for the fans.

May seems to be a month of collaboration of Blizzard Entertainment (we saw Berserk x Diablo 4 already), and the trend now crosses over to Overwatch 2. If you've been enjoying the Stadium mode, there's more coming soon your way. This guide will provide all the important information that you need to remember regarding the upcoming collaboration.

Overwatch 2 Street Fighter collaboration release date

The upcoming collab will be part of the mid-season update, and it will go live on Tuesday, May 20. The release time is expected to be around daily reset, when the mid-season update will go live inside the game. All the content will be available to everyone for free as there's no separate DLC to download.

https://twitter.com/OWCavalry/status/1920783363922690502

Overwatch 2 Street Fighter collaboration skins

Eight heroes are part of the upcoming collaboration. The skins were revealed at EVO Japan on its opening day, and I'm already hyped about some of them.

  • Hanzo: Ryu
  • Winston: Blanka
  • Soldier 76: Guile
  • Sigma: M. Bison
  • Widowmaker: Cammy
  • Kiriko: Juri
  • Juno: Chun Li
  • Zenyatta: Dhalsim

My top three to watch out for will be Cammy (Widowmaker), Chun Li (Juno), and Ryu (Hanzo). These are my three favorite fighters from Street Fighter, but all eight skins look amazing based on the gameplay renders.

If you have played Street Fighter 6, you'll know about mechanics like Drive Impact and Drive Rush. The special skins will have an added splash of in-game effects, which makes them different from other skins.

As of writing, we are uncertain how players will be able to obtain these skins. Chances are that at least some of them will be part of events that players will need to grind. A few might be exclusive to microtransactions as well, which could be a bit sad for the players.

Nevertheless, the upcoming collabs could usher in a lot of new players, with some of them from the fighting games universe. There will be detailed guides about how to unlock the skins once we have more information from Blizzard.

Doom The Dark Ages Doom Slayer

Whenever I think about Doom, I imagine running through corpse-filled wastelands, shoving a shotgun into demons' foreheads, and finding some fun toy collectibles between the chaos. It's gruesome, gory, and gratifying, especially when you're going in expecting brutality and are still shocked by how much there is.

I expected much of the same going into Doom: The Dark Ages, knowing it's a prequel to Doom 2016 and Eternal. Although I'm not intimately familiar with the franchise, having only briefly played the 2016 title before skipping straight to The Dark Ages, I was still eager to jump back into Hell and feel like an overpowered war machine.

Hell is where it all started

Doom: The Dark Ages is a prequel to Doom 2016 and Eternal, taking us back to medieval times when demonic hordes first started invading Argent D'Nur. Shortly after The Dark Ages' introduction, you're already met with bloodshed as the demons of Hell rip apart corpses, fire spreads across Argent D'Nur, and the Maykr observe, anticipating the Doom Slayer's arrival to come soon.

Doom The Dark Ages Khalim
Screenshot by Destructoid

There's no beating around the bush when it comes to displaying the mayhem and violence spreading across the planet. It took less than a minute for me to be drawn into the events unfolding in front of me as I eagerly awaited our protagonist's appearance.

The Dark Ages is dark, gritty, and full of viscera everywhere you look. You're given no time to relax as you set foot on the battlefield, shotgun and shield in hand, and watch the world fall around you. It's already abundantly clear you're the only one who can stop these rampaging demons, and you'll only continue proving that as you point your gun at their heads and paint the planet red.

We're punching and sawing through enemies now

If you played previous Doom games, you'll be more than familiar with their brutal nature as you rip enemies apart, break their limbs, and blast them into millions of pieces with your guns. Even with my limited time playing Doom 2016, I became accustomed to this without batting an eye. Don't worry—there's still plenty of this to go around in this title.

Something about seeing it in The Dark Ages' modern, detailed appearance makes it all the more graphic in a shocking yet satisfying way. Introducing mechanics like the Shield Saw and massive mech battles into the mix makes for an even more fascinating experience that I enjoyed more than I expected. If you're looking for guns you used in previous games, don't worry, several of those are returning, too. The Super Shotgun is still my favorite weapon, but oh boy, are the others just as fun.

Doom the Dark Ages shield saw
Screenshot by Destructoid

For a game requiring you to annihilate foes using any and every weapon at your disposal, including the most powerful fists and legs someone could ever ask for, combat still feels relatively simple and easy to pick up. Rather than questioning if there's a way you can grow an extra hand to get better at swapping between weapons, everything is clustered in a few keys, making it easy to switch guns, parry, and jump around without getting overwhelmed. After all, what's the fun in watching a Shield Saw cut through a dozen demons if you're too focused on figuring out controls from two chapters ago?

Where The Dark Ages starts to stray away is in its slower movement than previous titles. You can still run around quickly, but you'll naturally feel more like a powerful, armored tank character than a nimble assassin. If you like speed, you could see this as a downside, but I was quite a fan of this change.

Having the Doom Slayer be a big, brawny dude with punches strong enough to break anything and some of the most brutal glory kills in gaming history, rather than someone who can fly across the map with his speed, is something I've learned to appreciate. While it's easy to want faster boots if a mission is linear, The Dark Ages goes for a much more open-world structure with its chapters, letting you freely explore and learn more about your surroundings.

Doom the Dark Ages mech
Screenshot by Destructoid

The sheer volume of enemies in every level is another matter entirely. For some, this can get overwhelming and difficult to manage. At first, it was the same for me. After getting used to the hell that is, well, Hell, it turned into a thrilling adventure that tested my survival and shooting skills. These overwhelming feelings quickly turned into satisfaction and awe as I learned the strengths and weaknesses of my weapons and dove into their upgrade options to make an already overpowered protagonist even stronger.

Doom: The Dark Ages is the first game in years to get my adrenaline pumping with its exhilarating gunplay and detailed visuals. This sentiment only increased with each passing chapter as I experienced different gameplay mechanics, from controlling a massive mech to flying around on a dragon. Having metal music play as you're blasting enemies out of existence makes you feel extra overpowered, especially when you're playing as Doomguy himself. There's a ton of demon variety throughout each mission, with more appearing in every chapter as regular enemies and bosses, making the challenge even more prominent and enjoyable.

There's more to this than shooting guns

I'll come out and say it: secrets are among my favorite features of any games. I'm all for picking up a double-barrel shotgun and blasting a demon's face off, but sometimes, I like to stray from the beaten path to find out what else is in the world aside from bloodshed and chaos. In the first mission alone, you'll quickly discover there's more to this world than monsters invading the planet.

The Dark Ages is full of secrets. From small, hidden rooms that house treasure to the return of toy figurines throughout your missions, there's more to this hellscape than fighting enemies endlessly. Sure, battling monster hordes makes up most of your playthrough in true Doom spirit, but you'll have a chance to relax and detour during each level if you wish. If you're more of a run-and-gun player, then at least you have that as an option, too. Otherwise, The Dark Ages will reward you with lore and other surprises for your efforts.

Doom The Dark Ages Slayer with big guns
Screenshot by Destructoid

My other favorite part of games is strategy. I initially didn't anticipate needing much strategy for The Dark Ages and mostly planned on just shooting a shotgun until I finished my playthrough, only to realize just how much strategy potential there is on higher difficulties. Every weapon type has pros and cons that work in certain circumstances, and learning to master them all is the key to survival. You can absolutely get away with favoring one or two weapon types if you're good enough at staying alive, but if you want to master this game, you'll need to learn them all. This level of strategy wasn't something I was expecting, but it's something I've been enjoying since I unlocked my first few guns.

Doom: The Dark Ages has wholly succeeded in reminding me just how fun it is to run around, blast enemies, and try out weapons you'd never see in other games. It puts the hell in bullet hell, except you're the one spewing bullets, and the demons are the ones who're struggling to survive as you continue your onslaught. Being the most powerful Slayer on the planet has never felt so good.

A Strormtrooper coming out of a telephone booth in disguise in Fortnite

Weekly quests often challenge you to interact with gameplay mechanics you may not know exist in Fortnite. One such quest tasks you with using a telephone booth to don a disguise, which is a fairly tricky undertaking.

Finding telephone booths is a pretty daunting task since there aren't many of them around, and all of them are fairly hidden. Once you know where to look, getting this task done is easy, so here's how to use a telephone booth to don a disguise in Fortnite.

Use a telephone booth to don a disguise in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

Disguised as a Stormtrooper standing by another trooper in Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

To use a telephone booth to don a disguise, interact with one around the island to hop inside and equip a Stormtrooper outfit. The button you need to press to enter the booth varies by platform, but it's always displayed next to it when you approach it.

Using this special booth is easy enough, but tracking one down around the island is a whole lot tougher.

What do telephone booth disguises do in Fortnite?

All telephone booths can be interacted with to temporarily equip you with a Stormtrooper disguise. This outfit only stays on as long as you don't use your weapons, so it generally won't last long if you find yourself in battle. It's quite useful for sneaking around or infiltrating heavily guarded areas, though.

While you're wearing this disguise, all NPC Stormtroopers will leave you alone. They think you're one of them, so you can walk among them without fear. This is especially useful in areas like the First Order Base if you're hoping to find and defeat Captain Phasma, or Vader Samurai's Soltitude if you're trying to defeat Darth Vader Samurai.

All telephone booth locations in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle

There are eight telephone booths you can find around the island in Fortnite. All of them are situated near outposts and bases occupied by Stormtroopers. Each one is a bit hidden, so check behind rocks and in secret corners to find them.

  • One is just outside an outpost on the road north of Magic Mosses.
  • One is inside the First Order Base.
  • One is located near the road south of the First Order Base.
  • One is close to the outpost right by the west end of Pumped Power.
  • One is slightly north of Outlaw Oasis.
  • One is near the base west of Crime City.
  • One is close to the lake south of Crime City.
  • One is at the tall mountain fortress area in Vader Samurai's Soltitude.

All telephone booth locations in Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

To find the telephone booth at each location, do a full sweep of the area. All telephone booths are bright red, so you can't miss them once you know what to look for. They're all fairly close to the main location at each spot, so you don't need to wander very far to find them.

There are plenty of other tricky quests you can work on around the island if you're seeking more XP to earn battle pass levels. Some good ones to complete next are Han Solo's story quests, bringing a Jedi Padawan lightsaber to General Grievous, and Leia Organa's story quests.

A player wearing a mad hatter hat taking a picture with the Cheshire Cat in his tree in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Cheshire Cat is easily the most chaotic and unpredictable villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley. He's constantly stirring up trouble around the valley and has plenty of unique interactions. One of the more confusing ones is when you ask him to hang out.

Most villagers freely roam the valley as they please and follow alongside you with ease when you ask them to hang out. The Cheshire Cat works a bit differently, though; he's a lot more static. If you're trying to spend time with him, you may be a bit confused about how to do so. Here's how to hang out with the Cheshire Cat in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How do you hang out with the Cheshire Cat in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The hang out option marked on the cheshire cat in DDV
Screenshot by Destructoid. Remix by Destructoid.

You can hang out with the Cheshire Cat by approaching him, interacting with him, and selecting the "Let's hang out!" dialogue option. This is the same chat option you can select to hang out with all other villagers, but it functions a bit differently with this special cat.

How to find the Cheshire Cat in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Cheshire Cat is quite a trickster, so if you're struggling to find him, head to his tree, wherever you placed his house around your village. He might not seem to be home when you're far away from it, but he always appears on the branch right above the "up" sign as soon as you get close to it.

How do Cheshire Cat hangouts work in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Cheshire Cat hangouts technically function the same as all other ones, except he's not always visibly present even when he's there. He disappears and reappears frequently while you're hanging out, so although it may sometimes feel like he's not there, he always is.

Does the Cheshire Cat follow you during hangouts in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Cheshire Cat sort of follows you during hangouts. He's essentially always there, but usually invisible, so you'll only see him appear briefly now and then as he spawns in to grant you bonus items if you're tackling the task associated with the role you assigned him.

For example, I assigned him to gardening and had him materialize in the middle of my massive Pumpkin field frequently as I collected from it. He teleported around to different locations to grant additional Pumpkins and essentially followed me across the field as I went.

Cheshire Cat appearing while gardening in DDV
Screenshot by Destructoid

Is the Cheshire Cat always at his tree in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

When he's not hanging out with you, the Cheshire Cat always stays at his tree in DDV. He only spawns randomly around the valley while hanging out with you. When he does, he always floats above the ground in a fixed spot and never walks around. He vanishes and teleports to get from one location to another.

The Cheshire Cat does not dine at Chez Remy or Tiana's Palace, which unfortunately means you can't serve him meals to boost your friendship. He also doesn't shop at Scrooge McDuck's store, so the only time you can find him out and about in your village is when he's hanging out with you.

If you're hoping to boost your friendship with the Cheshire Cat, consider working on some of his important quests like The Uncrafting Station, It's All Nonsense!, and Furniture Fluster.

A First Order Stormtrooper riding an AT-AT in front of the Death Star in Fortnite

While working through your quests in Fortnite, you'll regularly be tasked with hunting down specific characters and locations. Some of the most important characters you need to know how to find are Stormtroopers.

These hostile enemies are tied to many different quests you can tackle around the island. They're fairly common, but only hang around some specific spots, so you may need some help tracking them down. Here's where to find Stormtroopers in Fortnite.

Stormtroopers can be found all across the island around various outposts set up along the roads. They also hang around two larger POIs run by the Empire. Here are all of the spots you can visit to find and fight against them.

  • Everywhere at the First Order Base. This location is a main POI, so it's quite large and has many Stormtroopers walking around since this base belongs to the Empire.
  • Everywhere at Vader Samurai's Solitude. The Darth Vader Samurai boss hangs out here, and he's got a massive army of Stormtroopers who stay close to his side all around this vast location.
  • South of the First Order Base. There's a small outpost on the road right outside the icy First Order Base area where a few Stormtroopers can be found.
  • Slightly northwest of Outlaw Oasis. A small station fairly close to Outlaw Oasis has some of them for you to fight.
  • Southwest of Crime City. Head slightly southwest from Crime City to find a few Stormtroopers stationed in the woods.
  • South of Crime City. Directly south of Crime City, there's another small outpost you can visit fairly close to the nearby lake.
  • North of Magic Mosses. On the road that runs north of Magic Mosses, a group of Stormtroopers has a small base set up.
  • Near the west end of Pumped Power. The final spot you can check is the bridge area right outside of Pumped Power.

These are all of the main locations you can check to find lots of them, but if you end up needing a few more, you can also visit Republic Outposts since they often hang around these spots too.

Best spots to find Stormtroopers in Fortnite

The best locations to visit when you need to fight lots of Stormtroopers are the First Order Base and Vader Samurai's Solitude. These two locations are main POIs marked by name on the map, so they're massive and have plenty of Stormtroopers patrolling about.

All other locations you can visit to find these enemies only have around three of them to fight. This isn't enough for most quests that ask you to battle them, so you may have to visit multiple locations to complete it. If you go to the First Order Base or Vader Samurai's Solitude, you're guaranteed to have enough for any quest as long as other players haven't already eliminated all of them.

Taking out Stormtroopers is one of the key tasks in Han Solo's story quests. If you're seeking more XP after completing these tasks, consider working on all of Leia Organa's story quests and all of Luke Skywalker's story quests or checking out the best XP maps for Chapter Six, season three.
