I've found a lot of enjoyment in Splitgate 2 since its full launch back in early June. The portal-infused FPS has been a great game to jump into every now and again for some quick, frantic matches. However, it's safe to say it's had its problems too. While I expected developer 1047 Games to reveal some kind of roadmap of improvements or major 'health of the game' update, I never thought that it'd return to a beta state - but that's exactly what's about to happen. Admitting that Splitgate 2 "launched too early," the free-to-play shooter will be "going back to beta" until at least early 2026. 1047 is also making cuts to its workforce, and shuttering servers on the first Splitgate, while it takes on this rework of the sequel.

Who needs RGB? This gaming PC build doesn't, looking more like a steam engine than a typical gaming rig. I love the simplicity of its design, with most of the PC interior dominated by some impressively positioned chrome-plated hard tubing. Fittings aside, this build is anything but simple, with some top-spec components integrated into a small mini-ITX case.

I love a tiny PC build, but that doesn't mean it has to feel small. The tubing in this build makes it seem bigger on the inside, dwarfing the other components inside this Jonsbo PC case and looking more like a steam engine than a gaming PC. It might not have the specs to rival the models in our best gaming PC guide, but it's still great for gaming, thanks to its eight-core AMD Ryzen CPU and a decent, mid-tier Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU.

Cyberpunk 2077 now looks significantly better on the latest AMD Radeon GPUs, thanks to its support for the latest AMD FSR 4 upscaling tech. Unlike AMD's previous versions of FSR, this one properly uses the AI cores found in AMD's latest GPUs, and I've found that it suddenly turns the game from a blurry, noisy mess into a sharp and stable graphical showcase. Slowly but surely, AMD is catching up with Nvidia here, and I love to see it.

As I found in my AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT review, AMD FSR 4 is a significant upgrade over FSR 3.1, with a much sharper image that's not far off the results from Nvidia DLSS 4 using its new Transformer model. AMD hasn't completely caught up here yet – FSR frame gen still doesn't use the AI cores, for example, while Nvidia is using its Tensor cores to generate up to three extra frames for each one rendered by the GPU. However, as we'll see in these Cyberpunk 2077 benchmarks and comparison shots, this game now looks way better on the latest AMD GPUs than it did before.

In the pursuit of more gaming power, a YouTuber has modded their Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU, putting Nvidia's mobile flagship through its paces and scoring a huge performance boost in the process. While it isn't a mod we'd recommend trying yourself, it does show that Nvidia's mobile GPUs aren't always being pushed to their maximum potential.

RTX 5090 laptops have been trickling out over the last few months, and they're certainly powerful, as our Razer Blade 16 review shows. That Razer model is now the top choice in our best gaming laptop guide, but comparing it to an RTX 5090-powered PC might be unfair. The RTX 5090 mobile GPU just isn't as powerful as its desktop counterpart, with just over half the CUDA cores compared to the RTX 5090 desktop GPU, along with serious voltage and clock speed limitations.

What is the Battlefield 6 release date? When Battlefield is firing on all cylinders, it's a thing to behold: tactical, dynamic, and immersive, there isn't much else like it out there. Some games have tried to emulate the feel of Battlefield, admittedly with mixed results, so a brand new, numbered entry in one of the best FPS series is something to get excited about.

The last Battlefield game that graced our screens was 2042, and it left a bitter taste for some, having eschewed some of the core principles that made the multiplayer game great. Battlefield 6 looks to learn from those mistakes, hopefully capturing some of that early magic, gathering old players and, with any luck, a new audience in the process.

What's on sale in the League of Legends Mythic shop? These cosmetic items aren't available for real-world money, as they can only be purchased with Mythic Essence, so no more worrying about how much you've spent in League of Legends. What is the best graphics card? Finding a new gaming GPU can mean wading through a swamp of often baffling numbers in specs lists, as well as weighing up the pros and cons of the different feature sets from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. Fear not, though, as we've done all the testing and comparisons for you so that our best graphics card guide will steer you towards the right card for your needs without the jargon.

The best graphics card overall is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090. Yes, it costs at least $2,000 but it is by far the fastest GPU and has access to Nvidia's latest DLSS 4 multi-frame gen tech, which you can learn more about in the how to choose a graphics card section of this guide. If, like most of us, cost is a consideration for you, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is the card to go for, as it offers fantastic performance for its $599 MSRP. Meanwhile, for a budget card, the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB is the one to go for, if you can find it at MSRP. What are the best Minecraft shaders? With shaders, you can instantly level up the look of your Minecraft world - even without an RTX graphics card. But with so many downloadable mods for the sandbox game, if you're unsure, let's start with what Minecraft shaders are.

One of the best PC games of all time and the ongoing king of sandbox games, Minecraft has incredible replayability, keeping fans and newbies coming to the game time after time. While the vanilla game still gets regular updates, Minecraft mods, texture packs, resource packs, and shaders can completely reinvent the game, affecting its overall look. For example, mods can completely alter gameplay, and Minecraft texture packs and resource packs change the appearance of existing blocks and add new blocks, respectively. The result will not be a fusillade of chocodrops. Instead, you will be gunned down like the miserable office slob you absolutely are. So keep your workspace tidy, chief.

I'm looking at my desk as I type these words. It contains: a piece of paper with "gel" written on it, purpose unknown; a stolen Cafe Nero mug, never cleaned; Vikram Chandra's memoir Geek Sublime; and a bag of raisins. I do not own a gun, because this is the UK and one of the UK's few advantages is that the vast majority of people don't own guns, but if I did own a six-shooter and were lured into a gunfight right now, I guarantee I'd be stuffing raisins into the chamber while choking to death on my own bullets.

You need to buck your ideas up and start doing better. No, it's not what your parents say whenever you tell them what you're up to for a living, it's what Helldivers 2 developers Arrowhead are basically telling players with the shooter's latest major order.

Get out there with those stabby flags and murder-death millions of the enemies Super Earth's citizens are most afraid of, in order to restore their faith in your ability to protect them by murder-deathing things. It's not all tough love, though. There's also another free cape for folks who helped solve a puzzle in May.

EA have decided to let players choose between locking weapons to classes in the forthcoming Battlefield 6, or being able to equip any weapon to any class. It might sound like a throwaway technicality, next to the existential terror of reports that EA want the new shooter to find a following of 100 million players. In practice, the decision to give players the option of locking weapons to classes is Serious Business. it's the latest manifestation of a debate that goes back to Battlefield's formative squabbles with rival FPS Call Of Duty in the noughties.

Picture the scene. You and someone you like are gettin' it on. Maybe with Barry White crooning away in the background, scented candles, sweaty palms. Then, one of you touches a box and boom, a bloke who's clearly come out on the wrong end of a trip to an arts & crafts shop walks in with some hooks and says stuff about pain and pleasure.

Such is (pretty much) the way of classic 80s horror film Hellraiser, and therefore such is the plot of the trailer for the very first full game based on it. Said game's a slice of singleplayer survival horror dubbed Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival, from Evil: Within devs Boss Team Games and Space Marine 2 publishers Saber Interactive.

The Stop Destroying Videogames citizens' initiative, the EU petition that's part of the Stop Killing Games campaign, has had an anonymous transparency complaint filed against it.

That's according to Ross Scott, the YouTuber who's become the figurehead of Stop Killing Games, which in case you're out of the loop aims to stop publishers rendering online games unplayable when official support ends. Instead, the movement wants companies to be required to put concrete end-of-life plans in place if they elect to do things like turn servers off.

Genshin Impact Characters Alice and Varka Finally Appear

HoYoVerse revealed new art for a number of upcoming Genshin Impact characters, and among them are Klee's mom Alice of the Hexenzirkel, Mondstadt Knights of Favonius Grand Master Varka, and the Fatui Harbinger Marionette: Sandrone. In total, 11 units we'll see in Snezhnaya and 6.0 showed up on social media

Some of these Genshin Impact characters ended up referenced throughout the story, just like Alice and Varka, and even had voice actors, but only got official art now. For example, Alice isn't the only Hexenzirkel member who will play a larger part soon. Nicole "N" Reeyn will appear too. Sandrone ended up teased in an earlier interlude trailer. Many of the images appeared alongside more teasers about details regarding the game's moon and sky.

Here's the full gallery of all 11 new Genshin Impact characters, including Alice, Varka, Sandrone of the Fatui. It also marked the first still images of Aino and Lauma, who both appeared in teaser trailers during the 5.8 Special Program.

Since Lauma and Aino were the two most recently teased and shown in trailers, they are the two we will likely get to pull for and play as first.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices, and the 5.8 update arrives on July 30, 2025.

Fate/Extra Record Delayed to Spring 2026

Bandai Namco announced it delayed Fate/Extra Record to Spring 2026 from its original 2025 release window. Additionally, developer Type-Moon Studio BB Lead Kazuya Nino shared a message about the delay and eventual release.

In the post shared on social media, Nino apologized for the new delay for Fate/Extra Record and attributed it to the time the team needed to spend on the game's voice acting. You can read a rough translation of the original post here:

"I am very sorry to keep you waiting.

This is my first time developing a game with full voice acting, including background characters, and I completely misjudged the schedule. I didn't realize how time consuming it would be...

In its stead, I think we've landed on a game that feels more immersive and gratifying. Please, give us a bit more time!"

And here is the original post:

https://twitter.com/Nino_Kazuya/status/1947463183759007751

Furthermore, publisher Bandai Namco shared a message about the delay where the company also confirmed that the Super Special and Special Editions of the game are now available for pre-order from the Asobi Store Japanese online site. Pre-orders for normal editions of the game will open at a later date in Japan.

Fate/Extra Record was originally announced in 2020, and received sparse updates up until the FGO Fes 2024 held on August of the same year, when a new trailer of the game was unveiled. The trailer showed a look at the progress Type-Moon Studio BB made during the years, with new elements such as room customization being introduced.

Fate/Extra Record is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam. The game has been delayed to Spring 2026, and there is currently no confirmation of an overseas release.

VShojo Co-Founder Leaves VTuber Company VShojo Director of Talent Departed the Vtuber Company VShojo Vtubers

As a result of the latest announcement from Ironmouse regarding her decisions to part ways with VShojo and the Vtuber bringing up the company's failure to send over $500,000 from her subathon to Immune Deficiency Foundation, a number of other members of the company also announced their departures or intentions to go indie.   This comes after other performers previously parted ways with or saw their ties cut earlier in 2025. To make things easier to parse as details come in, here's a full list of everyone's status and current statements on the situation. Based on current announcements, it seems like every Vtuber currently associated with VShojo is either leaving to go indie or preparing statements regarding their future if they haven't already left the company.

Here's a list of the status of every current or recently departed VShojo Vtuber so far. I also included performers like Matara Kan, Geega, and Zentreya, who left earlier, and some executives who previously left.

  • Akatsuki Hotaru: She no longer has VShojo in her name on social media, canceled a stream, and will make a statement later.
  • AmaLee: She will once again be an indie Vtuber and announced on social media that she will terminate her contract with VShojo on July 22, 2025.
  • Froot (Apricot the Lich): She removed VShojo from her name and bio on social media. She also brought up a copyright strike incident and expressed sympathies for talent and staff.
  • Geega: She left on June 27, 2025.
  • Haruka Karibu: There is no statement on social media as of 12pm ET on July 22, 2025, but the Vtuber removed VShojo from her name and bio.
  • Henya the Genius: She will make an announcement at 5pm PT/8pm ET on July 22, 2025, and she's removed VShojo from her name and bio on social media.
  • Hestia Happiness: She noted she's still finding working things out, offered sympathies, thanked her fans, and removed VShojo from her name and bio on social media.
  • Hime Hajime: While the Vtuber initially didn't make official departure statement, she removed VShojo from her name and bio on social media. Since then, she also confirmed she left the company.
  • Ironmouse: Going indie as of July 21, 2025. She also announced a lawsuit regarding misappropriated funds meant to go to the Immune Deficiency Foundation charity and herself. Most recently, the Vtuber asked any artists or musicians she worked with through VShojo who didn't get paid to contact her immediately.
  • Kson: Now indie. She also stated VShojo owes her money, and the Vtuber said she had plans to leave prior to Ironmouse's statement and would have previously had July 31, 2025 be her last day.
  • Kuro: While it is not finalized yet, he stated on social media he is an indie, is leaving the company, and had a meeting regarding his departure on July 11, 2025.
  • Matara Kan: She and VShojo announced her last day would be May 5, 2025, and the wording suggested it was a decision by the company.
  • Michi Mochivee: She said on social media that she can't say anything legally, but streamed and discussing her future plans on July 22, 2025. The Vtuber removed VShojo from her bio and name on social media, and left. In that stream, she also confirmed the company owes her money.
  • MowtenDoo: The former cofounder left the company on May 14, 2025.
  • Okamoto Nagi: She removed VShojo from her name and bio, retweeted Kson's statements on the matter, and announced she'll take a break from streaming.
  • Panini: The Director of Talent for the company left on July 11, 2025.
  • Projekt Melody: The Vtuber announced she will leave VShojo on social media.
  • Yutori Peke: She noted she is on vacation and can't respond immediately, but removed VShojo from her name and social media bio.
  • Zentreya: She left on June 27, 2025

While she wasn't in VShojo yet, indie Vtuber PiaPi also announced she had passed the company's auditions to join the group. She stated on social media that she made it through, but will not join or support the company. She also asked people to support those Vtubers who had been with the company. Beri also took to social media to state she had passed the audition process, but asked for her contract to be voided. Tori Oriane shared a video that explained she passed the audition and would have joined, was seven months into a contract and told not to stream, and shared her issues with the company. Oriane also said any revenue she earned from that video would go to the Immune Deficiency Foundation.

As of 12:40pm ET on July 22, 2025, Ironmouse's latest Tiltify campaign to support the Immune Deficiency Foundation charity raised over $411,000. The current top supporter is Gamer Supps, which donated $15,000. Other notable donations include $12,000 from Vtube Studio, $10,000 from Dokibird, $10,000 from VGen, and $5,500 from Zentreya. Zentreya also committed to helping five indie Vtubers get started.

The Doronko Wanko Dog DLC Makes the Game Cuter

We've known about Doronko Wanko for a while. New Bandai Namco Studios members created it as part of the GEMini 2023 program, and Phoenixx later released the project on PC for free via Steam in March 2024. As a result of enthusiasm for Doronko Wanko, extra dog DLC and a Switch port are about to appear. While these don't change the experience much, it does provide welcome customization and a chance to be more (or less) cute, depending on your affinity for certain dog breeds.

As a refresher, Doronko Wanko is about being a teeny dog capable of creating the biggest messes. Your family moved to a new, huge home with lots of places to explore. The issue is, there's one room that is off limits. It's the Good Smell Room. You can get access to this magical place, but only if you roll around in things like mud and paint and splatter it everywhere to discover Hidden Pome dog symbols.

Naturally, along the way you also can find cute dog hats.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9-CYrUcn3k

Now, this update doesn't change the base game at all. It remains as is! It's still very good stuff. Doronko Wanko cultivates the same sort of whimsical atmosphere as games like Katamari Damacy. You're a teeny dog. You're cute. Mess things up. Get rewarded with a shark hat for your effort. (I mean, there are other hats too.) You could beat it in probably about a half hour, if you rush, or you could take your time to really explore the house, collect accessories, and ruin everything.

However, the new cosmetics are very cute. The dog stays the same size, even though a Shiba Inu would be much bigger than a Pomeranian, French Bulldog, Toy Poodle, Jack Russell Terrier, or Welsh Corgi in real life. The design direction is similar. Basically, same cute concept, extra dogs that may resemble ones that are your favorite types.

I do think some of the dog models in the DLC look a bit better than others, due to the general design direction and color schemes in Doronko Wanko. The Welsh Corgi, French Bulldog, and Jack Russell Terrier are my three favorites here due to the color of their coats and the execution of their models, even though I'm a big fan of Shiba Inus in real life. I also thought that, while the concept of the Toy Poodle is cute, the design choices for the model and color scheme kept its general fluffiness from being interpreted in the same manner as the Pomeranian base breed.

In short, you don't need the Doronko Wanko extra dog DLC that brings in a French Bulldog, Jack Russell Terrier, Toy Poodle, Shiba Inu, or Welsh Corgi, but it is a fun bonus. The base game remains the same and is a delightful romp. I feel like getting the add-ons (or buying the Switch version) feels more like chipping in a tip for a game you might have already enjoyed for free than some major addition. The new character models are definitely cute. If you enjoyed the free version of the game and wanted to show support for that type of game, I think it's worth the cost of entry.

Doronko Wanko is available on the PC, and the DLC and Switch version arrive on July 24, 2025.

Vtuber Zentreya Will Leave VShojo Zentreya Will Fund 5 Vtuber Debuts After VShojo News

Following the news Ironmouse would leave VShojo after the company failed to come through on her payments and a charity donation, Zentreya shared an update on her initiative to help someone become an indie Vtuber. She announced that instead of just helping one person, like she said back in July 2024, she stated on social media that she will instead assist five people.

Zentreya noted that her decision stemmed from wanting "to continue to push for good" following what happened at VShojo. She said that she will share a Google Form in the new future. The Vtuber also put out a call to help support the Immune Deficiency Foundation, the charity that Ironmouse supported and that didn't get the over $500,000 in funds from VShojo from her subathon. Zentreya herself already donated $5,500 to it on Tiltify as of July 22, 2025.

Here's her full statement:

https://twitter.com/zentreya/status/1947459083990405562

When Zentreya first committed to assisting an indie Vtuber with their debut in 2024, she said she would cover the model art, design, and rigging.

When further discussing VShojo and the situation with Ironmouse and her lawsuit, Zentreya said that she "can't legally answer" some questions people had for her. She did explain on social media that she is also upset and angry about the situation, as well as showed support for Ironmouse and fellow members of the company affected by the situation.

Kson Is the Next Vtuber to Leave VShojo

Kson released a statement regarding VShojo and her plans following Ironmouse's departure and revelations regarding the lawsuit and missing charity funds, and the Vtuber confirmed she will also depart the company. She stated that she will leave the company, then said she would have left regardless of this Ironmouse's reveal. Kson noted she planned to leave on July 31, 2025, prior to learning about the misappropriation of funds.

When Kson started her statement stream, she confirmed she would only talk about her and her plans. She started by saying she would leave VShojo, and this latest Ironmouse announcement only played a part in it. When Kson said she planned to part ways with the company on July 31, 2025, she said part of the reason involved VShojo owing her money as well.

Kson didn't mention how much money she is owed. She did say that, until about September 2024, things were good. She mentioned sometimes VShojo would be slow with payments, but she would get her money. However, she did state, "…VShojo hasn't paid a significant amount of money to me too. They haven't paid me since last year. I guess it was September."

Here is Kson's full statement from YouTube.

https://www.youtube.com/live/cBxw80mZoWI

Kson also called for answers from VShojo following the reveals on July 21, 2025, and the Vtuber later said on social media that she got an answer "but not from the one person I want."

We will likely hear about more VShojo Vtuber departures over the next few hours and days. Kuro said he "submitted a leave contract and had that meeting" on July 11, 2025. Michi Mochievee will bring up her plans on July 22, 2025. Henya the Genius will announce her future plans on July 23, 2025.

Kson has been active since 2016, and she joined VShojo in July 2022. She is now an indie Vtuber again. She's also played a major part in recent Yakuza and Like a Dragon games

demon slayer spotify

Spotify has announced new Demon Slayer playlists. This is part of its collaboration for the first Infinity Castle movie, which came out earlier this month. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The Spotify and Demon Slayer collaboration started on July 18, 2025 to celebrate the release of the movie and the start of the film trilogy. The first playlist is a multi-content one. Aside from the two theme songs of the movie—sung by Aimer and LiSA, respectively—you can also listen to a comment from Natsuki Hanae, the Japanese voice actor for Tanjiro.

Spotify will also, for a limited time, feature the "Infinity Playlist," which has interactive elements. After you finish with the experience, a digital character card of either Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, or Tanjiro will appear.

Finally, from July 21 to 27, 2025, you can find advertisements depicting demon characters. These are limited to the Shibuya area, and you'll only find them at night. After seeing one, you can take a picture of it and share it on X (formerly Twitter) with the hashtag #渋谷ニ鬼ノ気配アリ (translates to, "Sensed a demon in Shibuya"). This will place you in a lottery to win an original Spotify keychain that looks like a wisteria protective charm.

The Infinity Castle trilogy, which adapts the final arc and fights of the popular anime and manga franchise, appeared in Japanese theaters on July 18, 2025. This film, Part 1: Akaza Returns, will also appear in select Asian territories in August 2025. It'll appear in other countries like the United States in September 2025.

Demon Slayer is available to watch on streaming services like Crunchyroll, and Viz Media licensed the manga for an English audience.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 image

The objectives for the ninth week of the Scout missions are now available in The Division 2 Crossroads season, and we are slowly getting close to unlocking the Tinkerer mask.

The Scout missions have undergone some unique changes in the new season, but the main objective remains the same. Last week, we got to target the first HVT and get closer to the final mission. To do so, it's best to complete the week 9 quests as early as possible (and unlock every reward in the process).

Division 2 Scout 9 solutions

Just like last week, we have an intel that provides a brief description of what we have to do.

  • Our friends at the Castle need assistance. Clear out the imminent threat and help stabilize the situation.

This is followed by three different objectives.

Objective Clue How to Complete
Objective 1 Disrupt enemy operations in East Mall This task is simple. Go to the East Ball and complete any two open-world activities to finish the objective. You can complete any two open-world activities, and there are no unnecessary restrictions.
Objective 2 Gain control of East Mall The East Mall has four control points, and you'll have to capture all of them. This is going to take some time, but you can do them at any difficulty you want. If you just want to complete the job as quickly as possible, select Normal.
Objective 3 Take control of Air and Space Museum Go to the location and clear all enemies to complete the task. Once cleared, a notification will pop up on top of your screen highlighting that the activity is done.

That's all you have to do to complete week 9 of the scout missions, which gets us closer to accessing the climax mission before Crossroads ends. While we work our way towards the Tinkerer mask, make sure to add the Catalyst Exotic to your collection. If you're still looking to complete Week 8, here's our detailed guide. The missions, compared to this week, were harder as they involved dispatching an HVT.

Mable From Pokemon: Legends Z-A

The star of the newest Pokémon: Legends Z-A trailer was, without a doubt, Mega Dragonite. However, Kanto's pseudo-Legendary isn't the only one back with a major glow-up.

One of the many characters set to aid us on our latest romp through the France-inspired Kalos region is Mable, Director of the Pokémon Research Lab. The trailer presents Mable as a newcomer, but she's no stranger to long-time Pokémon fans: she used to be a high-ranking member of Team Flare, the big bads of Pokémon X and Y.

Pokemon: Legend Z-A's Mable used to be a Team Flare scientist

Image via Tv Tokyo

Honestly, it's hard to fault Pokémon fans who didn't recognize Mable right away. Team Flare may have been the villains of Pokémon's first outing on the Nintendo 3DS, but they didn't leave the best impression. Led by the fiery-haired Lysandre, Team Flare saw themselves as the last bastion of beauty in a world drowning in filth. The organization's not-at-all insane solution to this dilemma was simple: resurrect an ancient superweapon, wipe out civilization, and build a beautiful utopia on the ashes of the old world.

Luckily for Mable, Kalos' judicial system has no reservations about giving people who tried to destroy the world a second chance. As of Legends Z-A, Mable is officially jiving, sitting pretty as the head of a prominent research institution in a decked-out gamer seat proudly baring a blue variant of Team Flare's wispy logo. Heck, according to the official Pokémon: Legends Z-A website, she'll be the one handing out most of the game's Mega Stones and TMs, so players have a good reason to forgive her past transgressions as well.

While Mable is the only returning member of Team Flare featured in the new trailer, she's not the only Team Flare-related character coming back in Legends: Z-A. AZ, the overgrown owner of Hotel Z, was the focal point of Team Flare's schemes, since it turned out he was the one who built the weapon at the heart of their scheme. Emma, the detective who hands out your side quests, was also a victim of Team Flare's skullduggery.

It's too early to say anything for sure, but it's hard to believe that all these references to Team Flare are making it into Legends Z-A by accident. With rampaging Mega-Evolved Pokémon set to play a role in Legend Z-A's story and one of the team's former members casually tossing out Mega Stones left and right, the stage is set for Team Flare to make its fabulous return.

The Divide in the Cosmodrome, where the Guardian was resurrected.

Destiny 2's The Edge of Fate kicked off with a set of seasonal challenges, and one of them sends you looking for data pads scattered around three maps in the new Solo Ops playlist.

The Solo Ops Data Pad Search seasonal challenges hide those devices in multiple Solo Ops missions, giving players a little extra to hunt for when completing the Portal activities. You don't always have to go at it alone, though: Bungie hid data pads in other playlists such as Fireteam Ops, Empire Hunts, Onslaught, and even Pinnacle missions such as Kell's Fall, Encore, and Starcrossed.

Here are the locations of all Solo Ops data pads we've found so far, ordered from the most recent to the oldest.

The second part of the Data Pad Search triumph only has one destination: the Conflux on Nessus. It's not the dwelling of the boss, informally known as Carl (famous for being the go-to practice dummy before the addition of the Tower's Firing Range).

Where to find the Data Pad in the Conflux in Destiny 2

A data pad glows on a rock on the left side of the image, which shows a room with a Vex portal and some statues carved in rock.
Don't go through the portal without getting this. Screenshot by Destructoid

The data pad in the Conflux mission is located before the boss room, and it's hard to miss. After defending the Confluxes, you'll come out in an area with a large Vex portal, some statues, and an object that looks like a brazier. Look for the data pad on the left side of this room, on a rock surrounded by Vex milk.

Three locations are required to complete the Solo Ops Data Pad Search Part One challenge:

  • Skywatch (Cosmodrome)
  • The Salt Mines (EDZ)
  • Caldera (Kepler)

More of those scavenger hunt-esque objectives will likely appear in the following weeks, taking players through other locations in the playlist.

The data pads spawn even in the lowest difficulties, in our experience, so don't worry about buffing your enemies to complete this seasonal objective. Here's where you can find each of them.

Don't reach Skywatch without this. Screenshot by Destructoid

The data pad in Skywatch is hard to miss. Progress through the mission until your screen shows you're entering Skywatch, then just to your left to find this data pad on top of a barrel.

The Salt Mines Solo Ops Data Pad location

Don't jump down before getting this. Screenshot by Destructoid

The data pad in the Salt Mines appears in one of the last areas in this Solo Op, after you've cleared two Taken Anchors. As you're on your way to the third and final Taken Anchor, you'll encounter a drop in one of the EDZ's rocky areas. The data pad is on top of a rusted crate, almost in front of you.

Kepler Solo Ops data pad location

The data pad in the Kepler Solo Ops appeared after we sabotaged the Fallen depots as part of the main objective. This led us to a cave with some derelict constructions. The data pad is to your right as soon as you enter the area and see the terrain change, just opposite a ruined building.

VVD passing the ball to a teammate in EA FC 26

The first official gameplay deep dive for EA FC 26 has given us plenty of important details to discuss, and there are some noticeable changes in store for fans.

This year's maiden trailer was different to what we typically see from the developers. The emphasis is certainly on feedback, and some of it has become even clearer with what we witnessed tonight. If you missed out on any important details, this guide will fill in the gaps.

All Major EA FC 26 Gameplay changes explained

There are plenty of changes, and one of the more important ones is the two different styles: Authentic and Competitive.

Competitive

  • Available in Ultimate Team and Clubs.
  • Focused on being extra responsive and offering better control.
  • More accurate passes.
  • Greater emphasis on manual tackling.
  • Fewer chances for rebounds to fall to opponents.

Authentic

  • Available in offline and Manager mode.
  • Different tuning for AI defending.
  • General gameplay has a slower pace.
  • The main aim is to provide gameplay that feels realistic.

While you'll be able to choose between the two and enjoy both, there are also changes to the fundamentals that will affect both styles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GE8YCIQF2M

  • Less chances of errors from goalkeepers as they will use machine learning to be more reactive.
  • General agility improvement, while pacier players will have that extra gas while trying to beat opponents.
  • Massive improvement to tackles as you'll be able to win balls cleaner with more accurate tackling.
  • Both dribbling and passing will be more fluid and quicker across both modes.
  • Better runs from the AI to create more opportunities on the field.
  • New ways to use the Shield button to protect the ball and beat the press.
  • Low-driver mechanic that can be activated by double-tapping the shoot button.

EA FC 26 will have new playstyles and roles for you to explore. Here's a complete list of all new playstyles coming to the game.

  • Precision Header
  • Aerial Fortress
  • Gamechanger
  • Inventive
  • Enforcer

Here's a list of all new roles.

  • Ball-playing Keeper
  • Wide Back
  • Box Crasher
  • Inverted Wing Back

The additional roles will offer more ways to break down a rigid opponent. We should be getting more information very soon as we head into deeper dives over the next few weeks.

Fantastic 4 First Steps poster wide

It's finally time for the Fantastic Four to return home.

Over six after Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Marvel's First Family joins the MCU and its vast arrangement of heroes and villains with The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25. And the reviews for the new film are beginning to pour in.

Fantastic Four First Steps poster with Galactus looming
Image via Marvel Studios

With Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic/Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman/Susan Storm, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch/Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm, this is the first time that these heroes will be a part of a bigger universe of characters, and it's got the cast to pull it off.

But has the Matt Shakman-helmed film pulled it off? Is the MCU so back?! Early returns are, yes, but with an overall mixed bag of impressions, as you may expect from a variety of different critics with their own opinions. It debuted at 88 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, but here are a sampling of the reviews thus far.

Variety

The comic book studio finally does right by the popular quartet, scaling back from the overcrowded feel of recent offerings, while delivering its most gargantuan threat yet in the all-consuming villain Galactus.

Rolling Stone

To say that the version we get in Fantastic Four: First Steps is the best screen adaptation to date of the group means that a low bar has been cleared, though the world-building around them is truly an achievement.

The Hollywood Reporter - 8/10

Despite its vivid and electric space sequences, the visually striking movie often feels like a throwback analog good time, which certainly worked for me.

RogertEbert.com - 88/100

This is a solid, intelligent, occasionally inspired comic book movie that delivers most of what a popular audience demands from the genre (including interstellar voyages and massively scaled action sequences) plus a little bit more.

Consequence - 83/100

Calling First Steps the best Fantastic Four movie yet is accurate and also easy, thanks to the low-budget hilarity of 1994's Roger Corman-produced effort, the two lackluster (and blatantly sexist) 2000s movies, and Josh Trank's 2015 disaster. Yet just on its own merits, it's a solid comic book adventure that's not embarrassed by being a comic book adventure — in fact it finds real power in its love for its roots.

Empire - 8/10

With an exemplary cast and shiny new alt-universe to enjoy, this is the best Fantastic Four yet. And if that bar's too low for you, then it's also the best Marvel movie in years.

IGN - 7/10

With The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Matt Shakman directs a film that's for sure interesting to look at even if it doesn't quite rise to the scale of its planet-eating antagonist, a force of cosmic nature that doubles as a metaphor for parenting in a way that makes me feel seen as a father. These First Steps might not be the great strides I was hoping for, but they are sure footing for the Fantastic Four to officially leap into the MCU.

DiscussingFilm - 4/5

Thankfully, the Fantastic Four's MCU debut doesn't adapt them like the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy but in a different font. This movie celebrates their existence in a way that isn't entirely free from irony, yet still proudly embraces the source material. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a sentimental, zany, and vibrant reintroduction to Marvel's first superhero family, and a perfect argument for why it was totally worth rebooting them for the silver screen again. Moreover, First Steps successfully tells a story of a family fighting hard for the future of their child at the end of the universe.

Total Film - 7/10

Fantastic Four may not be the confident stride Marvel fans were hoping for but, at the very least, it's a solid first step.

Collider - 7/10

The Fantastic: Four Steps successfully invigorates the MCU, but it's the tectonic shift that audiences thought it would be.

USA Today - 75/100

After two mediocre 2000s film featuring Marvel's legendary superhero family, and an atrocious third outing in 2015, the foursome makes its Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in a combo sci-fi/disaster flick full of retrofuturistic 1960s flavor.

Entertainment Weekly - 75/100

From its Saul Bass-inspired opening credits to its callbacks to Saturday morning superhero cartoons, it practically vibrates with its sense of time and place.

The Mary Sue - 4.5/5

The Fantastic Four: First Steps brings a lightness back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that both feels like returning home while being entirely unique to Shakman's MCU style. It is what I wanted from this movie and so much more.

Professional critics aside, are you excited for the movie? Are you burnt out on superhero films? Are you a Pedro Pascal megafan and have tickets to see it as early as possible on Thursday? I have IMAX tickets on Friday for myself and my partner, but let us know in the comments what you think.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is in theaters everywhere July 25.

peak screenshot

PEAK has a lot of items. Most of the time, when escaping the fog, it's hard to know whether to take one or leave it without knowing what effect it gives out, especially when a lot of things can poison or hurt you, instead of aiding you.

To help everyone out, we have created a list of every item and what it does. That way, when you find an item you've never seen before, you can quickly scan the list with CTRL+F and find out how useful, or unhelpful, it is.

Every item in Peak and how they work

Below is a comprehensive guide to each item you can find in PEAK and its exact effects:

Item Type of Item Effects
Flare Misc When thrown, it creates smoke for finding lost teammates and giving a direction.
Lantern Misc Creates a light source and also stops freezing status effects in a small radius.
Bing Bong (Plush) Misc Does nothing. Required for an achievement.
Bugle (Musical Instrument) Misc Used for an achievement and getting Winterberry through Capybaras in hot springs.
Compass Misc Keep track of where you're facing. Mostly useless.
Binoculars Misc Lets you zoom in on locations around the map. Helpful for finding luggage bags, food, and potential routes.
Flying Disk Misc You can throw it towards friends for fun. You can also knock down coconuts from trees.
Scroll Misc Act as Lore pages to learn more about PEAK's world. Required for an achievement.
Bugle of Friendship Misc/Legendary Gives every player infinite stamina when used. Lasts for 10 seconds. Can run out of charge.
Scout Effigy Healing Revives a dead player, one-time use.
Heat Pack Healing Removes Frost damage. Doesn't stop it from affecting you.
Antidote Healing Cures 14 ticks of Poison
Medkit Healing Fully heals you.
Bandages Healing Heals for 12 ticks of damage.
Cure-All Healing Removes all status effects and heals to max stamina.
Faerie Lantern Healing/Legendary Slowly heals all players in a radius. Can run out of charge.
Pandora's Lunchbox Healing/Food/Curse Three uses. Gives random hunger or status effects.
Remedy Fungus Healing Thrown item. Releases spores that heal players of everything.
Backpack Misc Gives you four additional inventory slots to store items. You'll need to drop the backpack onto the floor to access and remove items unless you have a friend carrying it for you.
Blowgun Misc Shoots a one-time dart that inflicts heavy lethargy status.
Cursed Skull Misc/Legendary Kills you in return for all nearby teammates reviving, as well as removes all status effects and gives full stamina to everyone else.
Pirate's Compass Misc/Legendary Points to the closest closed luggage case.
Scoutmaser's Bugle Misc/Legendary Spawns the Scoutmaster to chase the player. Gives everyone nearby max Stamina.
Banana Peel Misc Players slip on it when stepping on it.
Big Lollipop Food Gives you infinite stamina temporarily when used. After the effect finishes, you are afflicted by lethargy and need to wait to get your stamina back.
Marshmallow Food Better cooked. Recovers hunger.
Portable Stove Exploration Place down a stove that can cook food. Slowly cures the freeze status effect. Can't be picked back up after being placed.
Rope Cannon Exploration Shoots out an arrow with a rope that falls. The rope is small, though.
Rope Spool Exploration 12.5m of rope that can be spun downwards and placed on a rock to help teammates climb.
Anti-Rope Spool Exploration Same as the above, but the rope goes upwards instead of downwards.
Anti-Rope Cannon Exploration Same as the Rope Cannon, but the rope goes upwards instead of downwards.
Chain Cannon Exploration Like the Rope Cannon, it fires out an anchor that locks to a wall, but creates a sideways vine-like wire instead.
Piton Exploration Can be placed on walls to recover stamina when climbing, but it can break after extended use.
Shelf Fungus Exploration When thrown, it creates a small platform to stand on.
Magic Bean Exploration When thrown at the ground, it creates a tall pole structure that's ladder-like to climb
Food Food There are so many different types of food that all heal you and can be cooked that it's hard to note them all. Be sure to check out our complete guide on PEAK's food for a detailed breakdown of every available option.

We're continuing to update this page as Aggro Crab and Landfall release more items into PEAK. We also haven't listed every food type, as most of them are fairly easy to find. However, we have noted specific foods where they might have an effect, such as poisonous Mushrooms.

On the topic of mushrooms and determining if one is poisonous, it's difficult, as there are several different varieties available. We tend to avoid them ourselves, for safety. However, we have a complete guide to determining which of PEAK's mushrooms are poisonous if you're interested in exploring each option and risking your character's health for some emergency food.

Battlefield 6 Key Art 4K (1)

Battlefield fans, you have permission to get hyped. Battlefield 6 has officially been confirmed, and its reveal is just days away.

EA confirmed Battlefield 6 as the upcoming game's official title, and that the reveal trailer is now less than 48 hours away, set to premiere on July 24 at 10am CT. And if the preview imagery is anything to go by, we may be seeing the destruction of New York City in a few months.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgNCgJG0vnY

The cover art for the trailer premiere shows several modern era soldiers overlooking what looks like Manhattan as battle ships, helicopters, and jets fly overhead, leaving explosive destruction in their wake. And with Battlefield, destruction is guaranteed.

The new Battlefield game has suffered from several leaks over the past few months, thanks to the Battlefield Labs testing server, where players have been playing and helping to shape the game recently. Several gameplay videos that leaked from Labs spoiled the surprise of the modern setting, massive map destruction with entire buildings being leveled, and more. But this first official look will begin the next few months of marketing for the anticipated FPS title.

And so on Thursday, we'll finally get to see a taste of what EA and DICE have been cooking up, with more expected in the following week, with a gameplay premiere likely, with reports pointing to a Call of Duty NEXT-like hands-on event with influencers playing the game live.

It's been over four years since Battlefield 2042 launched, and it has led to several years of mixed reactions from players. With Battlefield 6 back in the modern era of the hugely popular Battlefield 4, this one could be what the franchise needs to get back on track.

Battlefield 6 could be releasing as early as this fall, setting up a potential battle with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and a war for the time and money of FPS gamers everywhere.

The post Battlefield 6 has finally been confirmed, and the wait to see more is beautifully short  appeared first on Destructoid.

Ghost hunting is a tricky business, but luckily, there are several unique tools you can use to make this job easier in Phasmophobia. Cursed Possessions are the most useful but deadly options and can be found at unique spots around each map, including Brownstone High School.

Knowing where to find these items is essential if you want to ensure you're aware of all the equipment you can use to your advantage. Here are all Cursed Possession locations at Brownstone High School in Phasmophobia.

There are seven Cursed Possessions you can find around Brownstone High School, all of which can be grabbed from the entryway on this map. Around most maps, these objects are usually located in different rooms, but here, there's only one area to check. The entrance is massive, though, so here's a breakdown of the precise locations to check for these objects.

  • Ouija Board: On the backside of the pole near the left end of the room.
  • Music Box: Sitting on a bench up against the right wall.
  • Tarot Cards: On a wooden bench up against the left wall.
  • Haunted Mirror: On the backside of the pole that's sitting on the right side of the room.
  • Monkey Paw: Sitting on a box up against a pole near the right end of the room.
  • Voodoo Doll: On a bench up against the back wall.
  • Summoning Circle: In the center back area of the room, right in front of the northernmost wall.

In all regular contracts without modifiers, only one of these seven objects will spawn in the entrance of this map. Custom matches and weekly challenge modes can modify this rule, though, and some trials like Hide and Seek: Seeker won't have any Cursed Items at all, so it's best to check all seven spots to see what gear you're working with.

Brownstone High School Ouija Board location

The Ouija Board is on the ground by a pole near the left side of the entrance to this map. To find it, head through the front door, walk straight forward until you see a pole on your left, then walk around to peer behind it. If it's there, you can grab the Ouija Board from the ground and get to work asking questions.

Brownstone High School Music Box location

You can find the Music Box sitting on a wooden bench up against the right wall. It's very small and sits next to some books that are also scattered on the bench, so it's easy to overlook. To get this item, enter the building, walk over to the right wall, and continue walking near it until you find the second bench. The Music Box is sitting near the end of it, right under some black graffiti on the wall.

Brownstone High School Tarot Cards location

The Tarot Cards are sitting on a bench against the left wall. Head inside Brownstone High School, turn left, walk over to the wall, and approach the second bench up against it to find the tiny stack of Tarot Cards near the middle.

Brownstone High School Haunted Mirror location

You can obtain the Haunted Mirror from behind the column near the right end of the room. Walk through the front door into the entryway, then veer right to proceed towards the pole situated there. Go around to the back of it and look down to find the Haunted Mirror leaning up against it.

Brownstone High School Monkey Paw location

The Monkey Paw can be found sitting on top of a cardboard box up against a pole on the right side of the room. This is the same pole that the Cursed Mirror is leaning up against the backside of, so you should already be near it if you're checking for these items in order. If you aren't, enter through the front door, head right, and look down in front of the stone pillar to check the box for the Monkey Paw.

Brownstone High School Voodoo Doll location

You can find the Voodoo Doll sitting on a wooden bench near the very back of the entryway. Enter this map through the front door and head straight to the back wall. Look down at the wooden bench up against it to find the Voodoo Doll.

Brownstone High School Summoning Circle location

The final Cursed Object is the Summoning Circle, and it's drawn on the ground near the center back region of this room. Walk straight forward as soon as you enter through the front door, and keep going straight until you spot it on the ground. It's right in front of the bench where the Voodoo Doll may be sitting.

PEAK Binoculars

As you climb PEAK's mountains, you'll notice that some items are more helpful than others. While food is crucial for survival, other items, like the compass and bugle, have more niche uses. The introduction of binoculars and a flying disk raises one important question: are these items useful?

Binoculars, in particular, are helpful in some situations. Although you may have to replace them with food or Mystical items later in your playthrough, they can, at the very least, provide some crucial information early on. Let's find out exactly how to find and use binoculars in PEAK.

Where to find Binoculars in PEAK

Binoculars spawn right on the shore. As you climb out of your plane's crash site, you'll spot some binoculars on the ground near a compass and bugle. Although this spot may differ slightly with each new map, it'll always appear at spawn.

PEAK Binoculars spawn spot
Screenshot by Destructoid

Like other items in PEAK, binoculars take up an inventory slot. Although this won't cripple you early on, your best bet is to either have a friend help you or use a backpack to carry additional items before starting your journey. Fortunately, binoculars have no weight value, so you don't have to worry about losing out on stamina if you bring them along.

How to use Binoculars in PEAK

Once you pick up your binoculars, you can look through them and zoom in on whatever you're looking at. This has multiple helpful purposes, from scouting a mountain for potential routes to searching for capybaras in later levels. You can also use them to look for luggage bags, teammates, and food, depending on what you need at a given moment.

PEAK Binoculars zoom mechanic
Screenshot by Destructoid

Overall, the primary purpose of bringing binoculars with you is to help you find landmarks and consumables that you'd usually struggle to spot. If you find route planning overwhelming, you can use this item to get a better idea of potential areas to explore or figure out spots to avoid. Similarly, if you played a map previously and only vaguely remember where a specific spot was, you can try to pinpoint its exact location by searching through your binoculars.

Can binoculars replace food, pitons, or rope? That depends on your circumstances. In later difficulty levels, you may opt to pick up a flare or extra food in preparation for PEAK's last couple of levels. They're worth trying out, though, especially if it's your first attempt on a new map and you want to spend extra time planning out your run.

2xko roster

Riot Games has revealed details about the upcoming closed beta for its flagship League of Legends fighting game, with the beta scheduled to take place on Sept. 9, 2025, on PC. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will receive the beta at a later date.

To top it all off, Riot has also revealed that Vi will close out the initial eight-champion roster in 2XKO, and the character will be playable during the Closed Beta period. 2XKO will launch with only eight characters, with the full starting roster including Ahri, Braum, Illaoi, Darius, Jinx, Vi, Yasuo, and Ekko. More characters will then be added to the free-to-play fighting game over time, likely once the closed beta ends (if we had to guess)

Existing 2XKO fans who played the game's earlier public play tests, Alpha Lab 1 and/or 2, on PC or console platforms will automatically have access to the 2XKO closed beta on PC. Newer global players can join throughout the beta by signing up through the game's official website.

While it hasn't been announced yet, we imagine Riot will follow a similar structure to its previous closed beta games and likely allow more players to join through other methods like Twitch Drops with partner streamers in the future. But for now, if you played in the alpha test, you're good to go for the closed beta.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr6Y96D3_Ro&ab_channel=2XKO

Riot plans to keep the game online and servers running from the closed beta period until the official launch, meaning those who gain access will be able to play the game for as long as they desire. Riot hasn't announced any news on when the official launch will be; however, expect it to potentially follow the same trend as games like Valorant, so it will be in beta for quite some time before its official 1.0 release.

Those who want to play the game before the beta, though, will have a chance to try Vi and its entire cast at the Evo showfloor in Las Vegas, taking place Aug. 1 to 3. If it's anything like last year's Evo, Players will be able to sign up for the closed beta at the event (though that hasn't been confirmed; it's just my assumption.)

Jinx, as shown in 2XKO.

The 2XKO Closed Beta is fast approaching, and if you want to take part in it, you'll need to reach certain criteria to get into the fight.

There are a handful of ways to join the Closed Beta before it opens on September 9, 2025, so if you want to take part, follow these simple steps.

How to gain access to 2XKO's Closed Beta

2xko roster
Image via Riot Games

To gain access to the Closed Beta of 2XKO, you have a few options available to you.

For starters, if you have already played in earlier public play tests for the Alpha Lab 1 and/or 2, on PC
or console platforms, you will automatically have access to the 2XKO Closed Beta on PC. Console Closed Beta will not be available on Sept. 9, so if you want to play in the Closed Beta, you'll need to download it on PC, as no date for the console Closed Beta has been announced at this time.

Newer global players can join throughout the beta by signing up at 2xko.riotgames.com/beta. You'll then presumably enter a raffle for a chance at gaining access to the Closed Beta. So be sure to check your inbox to see if Riot invites you to the game during release. You could get a response straight away or a few weeks down the line, so be prepared to wait a bit to gain access.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr6Y96D3_Ro&ab_channel=2XKO

Gaining access to the Closed Beta will let you try out the starting 8 champion roster, which includes Vi, Jink, Ekko, Yasuo, Illaoi, Darius, Braum, and Ahri. Details about modes and whether skins will be purchasable, among other aspects of the Closed Beta, are unknown at this time.

If you are unable to play on PC, it is still worth signing up for when the console Closed Beta becomes available, so you have access and are ready to go in the future.

Jeff Marvel Rivals

It seems like no matter how cool a person may be, their kids will always see them as lame or embarrassing. Even if you're Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige.

One of the masterminds behind the multi-billion-dollar Marvel Cinematic Universe said that his son only ever "feigned interest in a supportive way" about his father's work, even as he helmed titanic blockbuster hits like The Avengers. But according to TheWrap, the one thing that finally made Marvel cool to his son is the 2024 hero shooter, Marvel Rivals.

Jean Grey and Phoenix Marvel Rivals
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Overwatch-like game featuring a massive roster of Marvel heroes and villains was able to finally catch the attention of Feige's son, which is just incredible to think about, as his father was someone massively responsible for the comic book movie explosion of the 2010s. But it wasn't until the smash hit video game launched that the younger Feige found himself interested in his dad's work.

"Suddenly, he was asking me to tell him more about Hela," Feige said. "Tell him more about The Punisher and these other characters. And then he started seeking them out in the shows."

TheWrap said Feige had praise for Jeff the Land Shark, a favorite of his son's, and that's a different level of exciting. Seeing the lovable quadruped fish in an MCU project one day down the line now seems like an inevitability, and Marvel Rivals has a lot to do with his growing popularity.

Being a free-to-play game available on most consoles and PC makes Marvel Rivals an immediate access point to the universe for the younger generation who have grown up with video games like Fortnite and Roblox. Even after the game's initial success, it seems to be an untapped gold mine for the future of the industry.

Feige had a lot to reveal about the MCU and its future this past weekend, including his plans to eventually reboot and recast beloved characters like Iron Man and Captain America. It's a tall task, but with Marvel Rivals pulling some of the weight for a new generation of fans, I'm sure it's possible.

Flying Disc in PEAK

The Flying Disc is one of the two new items in PEAK, and it can be incredibly useful to help you survive on the island.

Escaping the island isn't easy, especially so if you're playing alone. Looking after your dietary and hydration needs while scaling the terrain can be an immense challenge. The Flying Disc might appear simple, but you can use it strategically to open options that won't be available otherwise.

How to find the Flying Disc in PEAK

The Flying Disc is one of the easiest items to find, and it's available at the crash site itself. You won't find it inside the broken plane (where you obtain the compass). Instead, look for it right beside the luggage, on the outer wall of the plane's debris (near your backpack).

The Flying Disc is hard to miss, thanks to its bright green color. You can pick it up from the ground to add to your inventory, or transfer it to your backpack. This is the same location from which you can obtain the Binoculars, which is another item added to PEAK as part of the latest update.

The Flying Disc in PEAK
Screenshot by Destructoid

How to use the Flying Disc in PEAK?

To use your frisbee, first select it from your inventory. The item can be used to knock down food, such as a coconut, from a height where you can't ordinarily reach it. There are probably other uses for it, too, but knocking down fruit is where my creativity capped out for now.

Aim the disc with your mouse and then hold the Q button. You should see a power meter pop up. Let go of the Q button when you think there's sufficient power. To bring down an item, you'll have to hit it directly.

Keep in mind that the Flying Disc is affected by gravity, so it won't fly in a straight line for long. You'll have to anticipate and adjust accordingly for your throw to be successful.

A ghost trapped in a summoning circle in front of a flaming cross in Phasmophobia

If you think you've mastered the art of ghost hunting in Phasmophobia, you may be ready to put your skills to the test. Weekly challenge modes are a great way to see just how good you are.

These special trials modify how the game works, usually with rules that make the experience a lot harder. Successfully finishing the challenge gets you plenty of XP and cash, so it's well worth the effort. Here's the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia and everything you need to know to beat it.

Phasmophobia weekly challenge mode (July 20 to 27)

The hide and seek: seeker challenge in phasmophobia which reads: There's a very quiet ghost hiding somewhere, can you find it?
Screenshot by Destructoid

From July 20 to 27, the weekly challenge is Hide and Seek: Seeker in Phasmophobia. In this challenge, the ghost is extremely quiet and hiding from you. Your job is to find it, and you're given quite a few buffs to make this process easier.

How to complete the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia

To finish the weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia, you need to correctly identify the ghost present on the featured map three times. The specific changes present in each trial mode vary, but your goal is always the same.

All Hide and Seek: Seeker weekly challenge modifiers in Phasmophobia

The Detectives Only challenge mode has several specific rules that modify the way the contract functions. Here are all the key details you need to know about this trial.

  • Map: Brownstone High School
  • Starting sanity: 100 percent
  • Setup time: None
  • Sanity pill restoration: 35 percent
  • Sanity drain speed: Zero percent
  • Friendly ghost: On
  • Cursed Possession: None
  • Equipment: Mix of Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III items.

    • Tier I: Parabolic Microphone.
    • Tier II: Ghost Writing Book, Tripod, and Spirit Box, Sound Sensor.
    • Tier III: Sound Recorder, Flashlight, Motion Sensor, Sanity Medication, Thermometer, Head Gear, DOTS Projector, Igniter, Video Camera, UV Light, Photo Camera, Firelight, and Salt.

  • Missing Equipment: None

Phasmophobia Hide and Seek: Seeker weekly challenge mode tips

The Hide and Seek: Seeker challenge is one of the trickier ones you can attempt in Phasmophobia, so here are some of the best tips to help you get it done.

  • Take all the risks you want. This is the only challenge where the ghost is friendly and you won't naturally lose sanity, so there's no risk of death here. Because of this, you can do whatever you want without worrying about consequences. Provoke the ghost, hang out in the dark, and otherwise investigate however you want. Your sanity might go down if you witness ghost events, but even if it gets low, you can't die.
  • Use Sound Sensors and Motion Sensors. Brownstone High School is a massive map, so the toughest part of this trial is simply finding the ghost. Placing these items down around the first and second floors will help you narrow down the right area to search based on what activity you pick up.
  • Check the truck cameras. It's a long shot, but if you're lucky, you might catch some Ghost Orbs, open doors, or other hints to point you in the right direction on the cameras in the truck.
  • Play with friends. Your odds of success are a lot better with allies helping you through this tricky trial. With additional ghost hunters at your side, you can explore the map more quickly, work together to gather evidence, and continue the investigation even if you perish.
  • Don't give up. Since all equipment is provided for free, there's nothing to lose in this challenge. Because of this, you can keep trying without worrying about losing money or equipment. Give each contract your all and keep at it until you get it done.

When does the challenge mode change in Phasmophobia?

The challenge mode changes every Monday at 12am UTC, which translates to 7pm CT every Sunday. You have a full week to tackle each challenge mode when it's available. All challenge modes return regularly since they're on a rotating schedule, so if you don't get to finish one, you can always try it again in the future.

Next weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia

The next weekly challenge mode, which will run from July 27 to Aug. 3, is Hide and Seek: Hide!. This trial begins as soon as this week's challenge, Hide and Seek: Seeker, ends.

A character dressed as a pirate standing in water in front of s ship and treasure island with a monkey on their shoulder in disney dreamlight valley

There are many vague duties that are tough to solve, hidden away in the Village Dreamlight section in Disney Dreamlight Valley. These tasks all offer special rewards, so tackling them is crucial if you want to earn prizes. One such duty is Expert Treasure Hunter.

All you're given to work with for this mission is the name, so it's quite tricky figuring out what needs to be done. If this duty has you stumped, here's how to complete Expert Treasure Hunter in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Expert Treasure Hunter duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Expert Treasure Hunter duty highlighted in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Expert Treasure Hunter duty cannot be finished yet, but will be available to complete sometime in August, according to the official patch notes for the Mysteries of Skull Rock update. It's part of a new upcoming event called Troves of Treasure, so you can't tackle this one until the event is out.

This is the only duty featured in the event, so it might be complex and take a bit to complete. Although we won't know for sure how to get it done until the event arrives, it will almost certainly involve digging up treasure spots hidden around the valley, since this is what the event focuses on. You'll likely need to find and dig up two spots to complete this task.

What is the Troves of Treasure event in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Troves of Treasure event is a new, treasure-hunting-focused event coming to DDV. To complete it, we'll need to use our Royal Shovels to find where the X marks the spot around the valley. The rewards featured in this event include some nautical furniture.

This event sounds fairly similar to Cheshire Chaos, especially the part of the event that revolved around hunting down Cheshire Cracks. We don't know anything else about this event so far, but more details will likely be revealed leading up to its arrival.

When is the Troves of Treasure event in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Broken Lantern in water in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

There's no official release date for the Troves of Treasure event so far, but it's confirmed to start sometime in August. It will likely either begin around Aug. 6, when a new update is likely to be released, or Aug. 27 as a way to fill in the downtime between updates.

A new update themed around Inside Out is scheduled for sometime in August, so the event will likely either be released just before it or a few weeks after it. Events usually occur when there's not much else going on in the valley, so it could go either way. It probably won't be released around the middle of August, though, as this is when the update will likely become available. Once we have a better idea of when the next update is, we'll likely know more about when to expect this event.

While you wait for this event to arrive, there's plenty to get done around the valley. Completing the Adventures in Neverland Star Path is the highest priority since it will soon be over. Some other tasks to tackle are completing the Collateral Damage quest, finding all Pillars, solving all Jade Skull riddles, and unlocking Maleficent.

Mega Dragonite

I just sat through what was a fairly disappointing Pokémon Presents showcase. Fans like myself were hoping for new game announcements and a new card set for Pokémon TCG Pocket, but alas, we were let down.

We did get one awesome announcement: Mega Dragonite! What could be cooler than the meanest Pokémon in Kanto getting a big, bad Mega Evolution? Sadly, this was the biggest disappointment of the stream for me.

My dearest childhood memories are of Lance's Dragonite, one of the most badass Pokémon to grace screens back then. You'd figure that if Dragonite got a Mega, it'd be an epic, mean-looking evo. Well, at least, I would.

But no, instead we got a de-evolution, with Nintendo deciding to add wings and a pearl—Dragonair features—instead. Did it also lose stats to be closer to Dragonair's? (Don't worry, that's just me being sour).

Where are the slanted eyes, reddish tint, shoulder spikes, or even spiky wings to make Dragonite look as tough as it really is? It looks more like a healer than a damage dealer as a Mega.

But I turn to you, Destructoid, what do you think of the new Mega Dragonite? Do you like what they've done to it? Or do you think they should've made it meaner, like me? Let me know in the comments below.

Also, how cool were those TCG Mega Evolution cards in the showcase? At least we got something awesome! I think my favorite must be Mega Venusaur, but I'm a huge Kanto and original Starters fan. Lucario also looks pretty great!

We were all left surprised when a new Pokémon game, Pokémon Friends, shadow-dropped today. This mobile game lets you complete various puzzles to earn yarn. You'll then use your yarn inside a Plush-O-Matic to create Pokémon plushies.

Developed in collaboration with Wonderfy Inc., Pokémon Friends features over 1,200 puzzles to collect up to 150 plushies of various Pokémon. You'll have the chance to decorate an in-game room with your newly-acquired plushies, alongside customizing using furniture, wallpapers, and more.

Pokémon Champions release date

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbW585_nTj0&pp=0gcJCcgJAYcqIYzv

Pokémon Champions was originally revealed earlier this year during February's Pokémon Presents. While this latest Pokémon Presents didn't give a specific day, we now know it's planned to launch sometime in 2026.

Pokémon Champions lets you recruit Pokémon temporarily as a trial or permanently using in-game Victory Points that you claim by fighting in battles. You'll also need these points to train your Pokémon according to your and their playstyle.

You'll be able to play in three different modes within Pokémon Champions:

  • Ranked Battles: You can fight against other players based on your skill level and Elo.
  • Casual Battles: You can fight against other players in more relaxed battles without worrying about rankings.
  • Private Battles: You can fight against friends or family who are in the same in-game room as you.

A deep dive into Pokémon Legends Z-A

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWDx1omjIwM

Wrapping up Pokémon Presents is a deeper dive into Pokémon Legends Z-A, including its combat mechanics, main characters, and its main location, Lumiose City. Pokémon Legends Z-A will officially launch on October 16.

As you arrive in Lumiose City, you'll be asked by either Urbain or Taunie to join Team MZ and help keep the city safe. Along the way, you'll meet other important cast members such as Naveen, Lida, and Mable, the Pokémon Research Lab's director.

After venturing out into the world, you'll encounter regular Pokémon alongside stronger Alpha and Mega-evolved variants. Some of the Mega evolutions we'll encounter include Mega Charizard X and Y, Kangaskhan, Dragonite, and more.

eternatus go

Pokémon Go has revealed fresh information about Eternatus, with the Pokémon coming to the game in the future during the Max Finale event at the end of August.

The announcement came during today's Pokémon Presents, which showcased a bunch of new information about upcoming Pokémon products, including updates to their live service library, and a bunch of new information about stuff that was coming up for the hit mobile game.

Scopely had been teasing a big Pokémon Go announcement for some time before the Pokémon Presents showcase even started, and asked trainers to tune in to the announcement ahead of time. No information was shared at the time about what it could be, with Scopely leaving trainers to guess what would happen during the 24-minute showcase.

On top of that, Pokémon Go teased some returning Gigantamax Pokémon that'll appear during the event, which appears to be entirely Max Battle focused. Gigantamax Snorlax and Toxtricity were some of the Poémon showcased, but the Max Finale event seems to be mostly focused on Eternatus among other things.

Right now, you can also use the promo code GOFESTMAX to get the chance to capture either Gigantamax Cinderace, Rillaboom, or Inteleon.

More details about Max Finale will be revealed over time, but it appears as though you will not be able to use Gigantamax Eternatus in-game, just like in the base game, with it instead being a raid battle that you take part in and nothing more. Although we need to wait for more information in the future to be sure.

A cozy room with a bunch of pokemon plushes in pokemon friends

Ahead of today's massive Pokémon Presents event, a new game has been shadow dropped. This game is Pokémon Friends, a fresh mobile game experience by Eureka Every Day! that you can start playing now.

Pokémon Friends is a puzzle-based game where your main goal is to make plushies. It's got over 1,200 challenges for you to tackle, with plenty of variety in the types of brainteasers you come across.

As you solve puzzles, you earn yarn that can be used to create a wide variety of iconic Pokémon using the Plush-O-Matic. Your yarn is all tangled up, and the only way to unravel it is by completing challenges, so the more you finish, the more plushes you can make.

The puzzles you face vary daily, so you never know what type of challenge you might face. Some are much harder than others, too, so you'll be able to breeze through certain puzzles while others might take you a bit to solve.

You can also decorate your very own cozy rooms with a wide array of plushes, furniture, wallpaper, and more. Additional decorative items become available as you play, so the more you make, the more you have to place around your home.

There's also a bit of a storyline you follow throughout. Think Town and the plush-loving residents who reside there are in trouble, and it's up to you to help them. Your puzzle-solving skills are the key to saving them as you work on bringing wonder back into their lives.

There are random daily challenges to get done, so logging on to play each day is essential if you want to tackle them all. You can also stamp the calendar daily to mark your progress as you go.

The base version of Pokémon Friends is free, but there are also some DLC packs you can buy to expand your experience. The first DLC is the Basic Pack, which costs $9.99 and includes 20 extra puzzles, six additional types of yarn, two setups, three wallpapers, and an array of fresh quests. There are also two Puzzle On DLCs, both of which cost $14.99 and come with 10 additional puzzles, six types of yarn, 40 plushes, four wallpapers, one setup, and more quests.

This game is available on both iOS and Android, so wherever you play, you can jump into the action now. Pokémon Friends is just the first announcement of many, as the Pokémon Presents event has a lot more new content you may want to check out, like the Eternatus coming to Pokémon Go.

Three kpop singers singing together in kpop demon hunters next to riri williams with an iron mask floating above her head in ironheart

Another week has arrived, which means it's time to tune in for some more entertaining content. This week, we're delving into a movie and a show, so there's plenty to explore regardless of what kind of content you're looking for.

The two projects we're discussing this week are Netflix's original animated film Kpop Demon Hunters and Marvel's latest show Ironheart. These two were pleasant surprises and some of the best content I've seen so far this year, so let's get into it.

I first saw the trailer for Kpop Demon Hunters a few months ago, and thought it looked like a fun film, but certainly didn't expect it to be a masterpiece. It really surprised me, though, and is so good that I've gone back and rewatched it.

This film is by Sony Pictures Animation, so it's got a similar look and feel to the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse series. This type of animation is one of my personal favorites, so I was already excited based on the aesthetics alone.

Kpop Demon Hunters greatly exceeded my expectations, though, with a compelling storyline, catchy tunes, emotional moments, vibrant visuals, and so much more. It's easily one of my favorite films I've seen all year, and it's such a pleasant surprise I wasn't expecting at all.

The film follows HUNTR/X, a K-pop girl group that sings to protect the world from demons and also fights against them in their spare time. Just as they're finally getting close to creating a perfect protective barrier around the world, a group of demons comes to the overworld disguised as a K-pop boy band called the Saja Boys.

This group starts stealing away their fans, which is the source of their power, so they must work to get them back before it's too late. The lead singer of HUNTR/X, Rumi, is also secretly part demon, so most of the plot centers around this.

There are some genuinely emotional moments and some surprisingly solid messages you can take away from this movie. It's a good time all around, especially if you enjoy a film that's not quite a musical but does feature some music throughout. I haven't been able to stop listening to "Golden" and "Your Idol" since I finished watching it, and I'm hoping to see sequels or a spin-off show in the future.

I also finally got around to finishing Ironheart this week. So far, I've enjoyed every Marvel show that's been released on Disney+, but I've found that the ones that lean into being weird and different are always the best. My personal favorites, for example, are WandaVision and Loki.

I was always going to watch Ironheart, as I stay caught up with everything going on in Marvel, but I certainly didn't expect it to end up being one of my top MCU shows. I had a very similar experience with Agatha All Along, which also surprised me.

Ironheart picks up the storyline that began in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as we see what Riri Williams, a teen genius tech inventor who makes suits like Iron Man, has been up to since then. She ends up caught in a world of technology and magic, and must navigate through it while also grappling with some intense grief after losing her best friend and stepdad.

At its core, Ironheart is a really fun story grounded by some seriously emotional moments. Riri Williams is one of the most compelling and complex characters we've seen in the MCU so far, and you'll root for her every step of the way. If you're a fan of the comics, you'll also love two of the characters who show up in this one. This includes (spoiler warning) The Hood and Mephisto, both of whom are absolute scene stealers.

As good as Ironheart is, I'm worried it's going to take a while for Riri Williams' story to be continued. This is kind of the trend with most Marvel shows, though, as iconic characters get introduced in grand ways only to have their storylines left incomplete.

Characters like Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel are examples of this, to name just a few. Hopefully, this won't be the last we see of Ironheart, The Hood, and Mephisto, especially with the cliffhanger the series ended on. Even if it is, though, you won't regret watching this one.

This week, I've also already gone back to the theater to watch Superman again because it was just that good. I've got tickets for Fantastic Four on Thursday night, too, and I've got really high expectations for that one, so hopefully it meets them.

So, Destructoid, what have you been watching this week? Have you had the chance to check out Kpop Demon Hunters or Ironheart yet, and if not, do you plan to? And is there anything else you've been enjoying lately? Let us know down in the comments below so we can discuss!
