Despite having initially indicated they'd prefer not to do so if it could be avoided, Helldivers 2 developers Arrowhead have now confirmed that they're holding off adding new stuff to the shooter while they focus in on improving its performance.

It's for the best, as issues with stability and bugs overshadowed the verdict players had on Helldivers 2's last big update, Into the Unjust. Not all of the concerns raised by players recently were new as of that update, see the game's long-beefy PC file size, but the result's been a backlog Arrowhead would have struggled to avoid confronting.

Hello Kitty and Friends Yokai Figure Set Arrives for Halloween

Bandai Namco updated its US and Canadian Gashapon site to confirm its capsule machines will soon offer the Hello Kitty and Friends Yokai Figure set ahead of Halloween 2025. There will be five possible characters, with none of them being the "secret." There's no exact date for when they'll appear, but the should start showing up throughout October 2025. The product page also didn't note how much a try for one will be in a machine. Typically, figures cost between three and four coins, and coins can cost between $2-3 each.

Each of the characters in the Hello Kitty and Friends Yokai Figure set features a mascot dressed as a monster from Japanese folklore. Hello Kitty herself appears to be a kitsune spirit, which is the traditional nine-tailed fox. Hangyodon the sea monster is a kappa, complete with cucumber. Pompompurin is nurikabe. Kuromi is dressed as an oni and even wields a club. Finally, Cinnamoroll rounds out the lineup and is a tanuki.

Here's how each of the little figures will look.

This is one of the first Halloween 2025 collections of Hello Kitty and Sanrio merchandise confirmed for a worldwide release. A number of others are on the way, but only will apparently be in Japan so far. Some of these include a crossover with Magical DoReMithat makes characters witches, plush of Cinnamoroll with Hatsune Miku in costumes, and ones of characters in general costumes

The Hello Kitty and Friends Yokai Figure collection are now in US and Canadian Bandai Namco gashapon capsule machines, following an earlier Japanese debut.

Summer Maruzensky and Special Week Join Umamusume

Cygames will add the Summer Maruzensky and Special Week swimsuit alts to Umamusume when it updates this evening, and shared details about the two new three-star Trainees and SSR Support Cards for Speed Sweep Tosho and Stamina Winning Ticket. Those banners run until October 27, 2025, as does the Beaches, Bathing Suits, and Blazing Trails event.

While these are alts that are different cosmetically, have adjusted Growth rates, and feature different skills, they are also similar to the original versions. So Maruzensky is still a Front Runner who is best at the Turf Mile races, but can handle Sprint and Medium, but this time it is easier to make her viable for Dirt races too. Special Week is still best at Medium and Long Turf races and is a Pace Chaser or Late Surger, but you can also prepare her for Mile runs and the End Closer strategy. Maruzensky starts with the A Kiss for Courage Unique Skill that helps increase her Velocity, though she can also pick up some that help restore Stamina. Her growth rates are 15% in Speed and Wit. Special Week's Unique Skill is Dazzl'n Diver that recovers stamina after two other skills activate, and her other Potential Skills tend to focus on increasing Velocity.

Here are the Umamusume infographics for both Summer Maruzensky and Special Week:

With the two new SSR Support Cards, it seems like the Stamina Full-Blown Tantrum: Winning Ticket could be the most useful. It doesn't offer Specialty Priority, but does offer Mood Effect and Stamina bonuses and the Hard Worker Late Surger passing skill. The Speed It's All Mine: Sweep Tosho card does have Specialty Priority, an Initial Speed bonus, and a Friendship and Speed Bonus. Its unique skill is Crusader for End Closers.

Both of those infographics can be seen here:

The last update added chapter 4 of the main campaign and Gold City as a trainee.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is available on PCs and mobile devices, and the Summer Maruzensky and Special Week swimsuit alts focus banners run until October 27, 2025, after which they join the general pool of characters. Likewise, the two new Support Cards also will always be available after their debut.

New Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy Game Closed Beta Set for November

Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy will bring characters from the series to modern Tokyo to fight in 3v3 battles against the forces of darkness in a new game, and there will be a November 7-14, 2025 closed beta ahead of the 2026 full release. Sign-ups are live on the official site for said test. That only takes place on Android devices, though the full game will be on iOS devices too.

The site and first trailer show Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy in portrait mode, with five skills equipped in slots at the bottom. These are used when facing the monster or boss in an area. There seem to be competitive elements, since different teams will face the same boss. All characters belong to one of four kinds of roles, which help determine how they fit into teams.

Here are the confirmed characters so far and their roles. In many cases, the representatives for each Final Fantasy aren't the main "hero" tied to it.

  • Warrior of Light (FFI) - Support
  • Kain Highwind (FFIV) - Melee
  • Krile Mayer Baldesion (FFV) - Support
  • Terra Branford (FFVI) - Ranged
  • Cloud Strife (FFVII) - Melee
  • Rinoa Heartilly (FFVIII) - Ranged
  • Zidane Tribal (FFIX) - Agile
  • Lightning (FFXIII) - Agile
  • Gaia (FFXIV) - Melee
  • Prompto Argentum (FFXV) - Ranged

And here's the first trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLM7V3jrNNc

Here are the early screenshots:

The last Dissidia Final Fantasy game was Opera Omnia, and the new entry will apparently arrive around two years after it was shut down. That ran from 2017 to 2024. It was a turn-based RPG and featured a large cast of characters from multiple entries and spin-offs, including ones that often aren't playable.

Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy will come to Android and iOS devices in 2026, with the closed Android beta test taking place between November 7-14, 2025.

Hell's Paradise Jigokuraku Paradise Battle game releasing for mobile and PC in November 2025

Good Smile Company has announced the full release date for Jigokuraku: Paradise Battle. The new mobile and PC game themed after Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku will be available on November 4, 2025.

Paradise Battle will appear as a free-to-play survival RPG. It will feature not only a retelling of the anime adaptation but also a brand-new original story supervised by Akira Kindaichi, who also worked on the anime. The Japanese voice actors from the anime show will also return to provide full voiceover in this game.

This Hell's Paradise game will also have cross-save support between the mobile and PC versions. However, the PC release on DMM Games will exclusively contain cutscenes from the anime that would be deemed NSFW.

Good Smile Company has also published a new commercial trailer for the upcoming Hell's Paradise mobile and PC game on its YouTube channel. This video also features Reol's "Utsukushi Jigoku" (Beautiful Hell) as the theme song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P_kYPTiy3E

Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku originated as a manga series made by Yuji Kaku that ran in Shonen Jump+ from 2018 to 2021. Its anime adaptation launched in April 2023, and the second season is slated to air in January 2026. Characters from the show—especially the heroine Sagiri—have also received figure adaptations from numerous companies, such as Good Smile's Nendoroids, Bandai Spirits' SH Figuarts, and ARTFX J figures by Kotobukiya.

Jigokuraku: Paradise Battle will be available as a free-to-play game for Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as PC via DMM Games in Japan, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Meet Octopath Traveler 0 Characters Pardis III, Carinda, Pius, Saoirse, and Xerc

It is time to meet more Octopath Traveler 0 characters, as Square Enix revealed the villain King Pardis III and additional allies named Carinda, Pius, Saoirse, and Xerc. It also confirmed that, once we rebuild our town, we'll be able to set up a Monster Arena and a Museum. This all comes ahead of the game's December 2025 debut.

First, King Pardis is the head of Edoras. However, one of the major challenges we'll deal with is that isn't enough for him. He also wants to rule all of Orsterra. As such, our quest for vengeance after our home and loved ones are shattered will involve taking him down too. Carinda is the merchant for this installment. She's from the Riverlands area. Pius, as his name suggests, is a cleric. He serves with the Order of the Sacred Flame. (Ophilia served that same order in the original game.) Saoirse is the dancer this time around. Finally, Xerc is our scholar.

As for the Monster Arena and Museum, both will benefit from our collecting things in Octopath Traveler 0. With the arena, we'll be able to capture monsters from requests. That allows us to then take part in arena matches against them. With the museum, we can read journals, listen to music, and look at treasures we found as we traveled.

Square Enix shared official art for all five Octopath Traveler 0 characters:

Here are some new screenshots too:

As for the other new Octopath Traveler 0 characters, they are our allies who fill out roles in other jobs in this installment.

We've seen Square Enix share new details about Octopath Traveler 0 characters and villains like this in the last few weeks. Back in September 2025, the Master of Power Commander Tytos, Master of Wealth Lady Herminia, and Master of Fame Playwright Auguste were revealed as three villains tied to the tragedy our avatar experiences. We also learned Alexia the scholar, Celsus the thief, Ludo the merchant, Macy the apothecary, and Viator the warrior will join our cause.

Octopath Traveler 0 will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on December 4, 2025.

Review: Pokemon Legends Z-A Makes Lumiose City Our Playground

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, we got a window into Pokemon's past. It ended up being a means of peeking into the series' history and seeing how folks handled life with the iconic kinds of creatures in the past. Pokemon Legends: Z-A brings us into the present with a return to a more modern version of Lumiose City from Pokemon X and Y. While this does limit us a bit, as we aren't exploring multiple regions around a town and surviving in the wilds, it offers fascinating insights into daily life with characters in a new way and results in another must-play Switch 2 JRPG.

Our avatar in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a newcomer to Lumiose City, moving to the region. Why? Well, we never really get to know the real intentions for coming to their new home, as immediately after arriving they encounter either Taunie or Urbain. This initial encounter shapes their future, as they move into Hotel Z alongside fellow Team MZ members and its owner AZ. Their new dream? To help protect the city and their new friends.

That does mean that, early on, we're sort of forced to follow along with Taunie or Urbain for a bit as we are introduced to the city and certain concepts. This made passing certain shops or spaces extra tempting. It does take a bit, but it isn't too long before we're given the freedom to roam the city and take it all in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL4jOPorLQM

There are two things that struck me about this initial set-up. The first is that our avatar is quite customizable. The initial options are a good start, and once you start buying duplicates of certain items with multiple parts (such as a jacket over a shirt or pants with a belt), you can then mix-and-match to further customize your appearance to really create "yourself." The other is that Team MZ reminded me of the original Pokemon X and Y, as we weren't alone then too! We were one of a group with Calem/Serena, Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor. It felt like we had friends back then. There's that same sort of ambiance with Taunie/Urbain, Lida, and Naveen. I'd say it's even better and more fleshed out, as we're frequently working and living alongside them.

Like Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Z-A is a more active entry. We run around the city with six Pokemon partners on-hand. One of these can be wandering alongside us the whole time. Depending on their movesets, you could use their attacks to gather Mega Shards or clear the way of certain types of blockades. While our avatar can't jump, they can performing a diving dodge that, when combined with certain moves, can allow them to engage in a bit of parkour. We run along the city streets and up along rooftops, visiting stores, cafes, restaurants, special points of interest, and Wild Zones. It's even possible to use certain Pokemon moves to create bridges across otherwise unpassable spaces.

Lumiose City is a fascinating city to explore in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. One of my favorite things to do was set a side quest as my target, then leisurely jog through the streets in that direction, primarily focusing on taking routes that featured Poke Balls with items, scaffolding parkour I hadn't attempted, or even rooftops I wasn't sure I'd explored. Admittedly, I will say it feels slightly more claustrophobic at times than Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The Wild Zones do offer an assortment locations, but they don't feel like true, different biomes in the way the previous entry's spots did. I do appreciate that there is no loading between locations on the Switch 2, the visibility means I could see Pokemon clearly over multiple rooftops, and I didn't notice any lag when overwhelmed by a whole horde of opponents at once.

Said Wild Zones are rather interesting and highlight the concept of creating spaces for Pokemon in a modern city. This means we'll see the city around us, as well as cars, fighting courts, and other signs of civilization. But at the same time, there'll be greenery or items to duck behind while sneaking to catch characters unaware. These spaces extend vertically as well as horizontally, so some of the spots might feature tunnels to different portions of the space or allow you to use ladders to reach rooftops. They aren't the only space to find new creatures, as the streets, trees, allies, and roofs outside the Wild Areas can also be home to characters you can catch.

It's not the only way Lumiose feels alive in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. There are a lot of little things. The main campaign sends us around the city, of course, with quests that involve calming Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokemon, climbing the ranks of the Z-A Royale battle league, aiding team MZ in protecting the city, and aiding Taunie/Urbaine. While there are times these can be straightforward, such as going to fight enough in the nightly Z-A Royale battle zone to earn a Challenger Ticket for a promotion match or heading to a specific place, I found they get more involved and help lend personality both to certain people, the city, and the situation. The vast array of little glimmers that turn out to be items you can sell for cash, potions, or handy items make it feel like they're incidental items dropped by Pokemon or that feel out of pockets on a city street. Most people have something to say as you walk past, with speech bubbles offering commentary, but some can offer more involved talks or will have a yellow background signifying you get something out of chatting with them.

This sometimes happens with the side quests too. There are supplemental missions that show up as blue exclamations on white circles on the map. While some of these do involve a quick battle against an opponent to illustrate a certain concept or idea, others unlock new features for the city or can result in getting something helpful like a Pokemon, a held item, or a TM. I really appreciated the ones that tied into new additions or existing characters and Pokemon, as it almost made me feel like they were "lite" versions of the substories we'd see in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series.

As for the battles, it feels like it builds on the concepts from Pokemon Legends: Z-A. We can have four moves equipped, and from the menu and status screen we can add more naturally learned or TM moves. There's no need for a special move learner, as we can access them all in our menus. Boxes are accessed in our main menu too, so there's no need to find a Pokemon Center to swap. Poke Ball tossing is easily executed with a trigger, and canceled out of with B. Accidental tosses don't penalize a person, as a QOL feature lets you recover them at a Pokemon Center.

If you're in a Wild Zone or on a rooftop, there's no guarantee a Pokemon is hostile. Some of them are peaceful and will play around your avatar. They might even make little happy noises and dance a bit, such as Flabebe or Emolga. Others will be capital-M Mad and attempt to attack you. Alpha Pokemon especially will be larger than usual and stronger, making them quite a challenge to defeat even if your own characters are at their same level. Fortunately, the equipped moves in the moveset will have X, triangle, O, and double circle symbols to show you type effectiveness. There's also a brief window where if you knock them out, they'll be woozy for a second and you have a chance to still catch them before they disappear.

The Z-A Royale evening competitions can task you with getting X amount of points over one or multiple nights, while also earning or grabbing medals that increase the amount of money you take away from these encounters. I must admit, I favor this approach to standard trainers in the wild who will fight the second you lock eyes at any time. When you enter one of these spaces, you can sneak around to catch folks off guard with a special attack. Even better, is there will be these "cards" you can collect. Up to three can be held at a time, and they'll offer a bonus amount of points if you complete the objective on them while in the zone. For example, one might say you get a bonus if you trigger encounters with sneak attacks using electric moves. Another might offer a bonus if you use a certain number of super effective moves of any type. Once defeated, these individuals might also feature a yellow speech bubble signifying they'll do things like heal your characters, give you more medals, or give you Poke Balls.

I also feel a need to salute the absolute dedication to Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. In past entries, I didn't really feel like I'd use the mechanic all that much. Yes, if I needed to or a Pokemon I loved could be enhanced. But I'd always get by and never make a point of specifically going for Mega Evolved characters. Here, there are so many characters that can make use of the feature that I found I ended up with three critters in my primary party who could Mega Evolve even without forcing it. Add to them being the most effective means of dealing with Rogue Mega-Evolved "bosses" and some other fights, and I really felt like the concept mattered after falling to the wayside in some other installments.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a follow-up to Arceus that feels both similar and different due to its focus on living alongside Pokemon in a modern city. The two themes are Mega Evolution and embracing life alongside Pokemon, and Game Freak and Nintendo are constantly showing and telling how that works. Admittedly, I miss the more varied biomes and locations from Arceus. But I do appreciate the story, the ambiance, the attention paid to characters, and how much it feels like a real city. After over 35 hours with it, I'm quite pleased.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A comes to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 16, 2025.

Crisol Theater of Idols Dolores

Crisol: Theater of Idols has been shown off at numerous past gaming events of late, and it's one I've had wishlisted for a while. Now, after playing its Steam Next Fest demo, I truly have high hopes for it.

The horror FPS from Vermila Studios and publisher Blumhouse Games sets an awesome tone when it comes to its setting of Hispania, which is "a twisted version of Spain" that immediately evokes memories of BioShock's Rapture for me.

Screenshot by Destructoid

The gameplay is a slow-paced variant of any FPS you'd find nowadays, reminiscent of the newer Resident Evil titles, where you can shoot your way out of a situation, but the tension and horror of what lurks around each corner is what's most important. Puppet-like enemies stalk the area, and they take several bullets to finish off before being able to move on.

The unique mechanic in Crisol is that your weaponry uses a very specific kind of ammunition: your blood. Reloading requires filling up your weapon with your own life-juice and HP, and as such, makes your health bar more of a valued resource than ever before. You can heal up with syringes found on the map or use some kind of power to drain the blood from dead humans or animals scattered about the area.

The Resident Evil vibes really kick in towards the end of the demo when a massive, hulking contraption named Dolores shows up ready to hunt you down. You're forced to run and hide from her like Nemesis or Mr. X (or Songbird or a Big Daddy), navigating the streets of Hispania while cutting through chained-up doors with the tried and true RE trope bolt cutters.

I think my favorite part of the demo, though, is that it does not waste your time with exposition. A lot of demos throw you into a cutscene immediately, and maybe it's just me, but I don't want that in a demo. Let me try the gameplay loop and then decide if I'm interested in the story first. Thankfully, playing through this interesting area of Crisol now has me wanting to know a lot more about the story and setting, as the 20-minute demo is just enough to whet your appetite for FPS horror without spoiling anything at all.

Screenshot by Destructoid

Crisol: Theater of Idols will launch on PC and consoles in early 2026, and thus far, it seems like it may be a sleeper hit to watch out for. You can try out the demo now during Steam Next Fest to see what the excitement is about.

Ninja Gaiden 4

Ninja Gaiden 4 could be one of the biggest releases this year for those who love action games, and there's less than a week before it goes live.

We have known the release date for quite some time after the confirmation in previous months from Team Ninja. The countdown below will help you to stay on track with the upcoming launch, irrespective of whether you're playing on PC or a console.

Ninja Gaiden 4 release countdown

The following countdown will expire as Ninja Gaiden 4 releases worldwide.

[hurrytimer id="1129208"]

The countdown is based on the following times.

  • 5pm PT (Oct. 20)
  • 7pm CT (Oct. 20)
  • 8pm ET (Oct. 20)
  • 00am UTC (Oct. 21)
  • 1am BST (Oct. 21)
  • 2am CEST (Oct. 22)
  • 9am JST (Oct. 22)

Ninja Gaiden 4 won't have a regional launch, which also means that there's no New Zealand trick to exploit. The game goes live on all platforms simultaneously. While you can purchase a Digital Deluxe Edition for bonuses, there's no advanced access available.

If you're yet to purchase your copy, here's a small summary of what to expect from the title.

What to expect from Ninja Gaiden 4

If you have played any Ninja Gaiden titles in the past, expect to find the same features in new shapes and sizes. The signature hack-and-slash gameplay is the core of the latest adventure, where you get to wield the iconic weapons. There are some changes as fresh mechanics have been added to spice up the gameplay.

Explore a scenic Tokyo to rid it of the new evil that threatens its people. You will find plenty of enemies ready to thwart your adventures, but you have different ways to take them down. With new moves to unlock, combos to master, and bosses to take down, there's plenty to keep you engaged for many hours.

There's a ton of mechanics, weapons and skills in Absolvement that a Trello or Wiki make it so much easier to play and keep track of everything. Luckily both exist and are very well organized for both beginners and experienced players looking for specifics. Here are the Absolvement Trello, Wiki and Discord links.

Absolvement Trello, Wiki and Discord Guide

absolvement wiki page link

Here are the links you want to start grinding Absolvement with all the info you need:

Your best bet is to check out the Trello or Wiki first for raw information. Both have everything you need to start and read about all the options in detail. They're also useful for looking up specific items, weapons, skills, sins, etc. They have info on:

  • Basic game mechanics
  • The Soul trees
  • NPCs
  • All Races and abilities
  • All Sins
  • All Weapons
  • All Fists
  • All Shields
  • All Skills and info for all moves
  • All Consumables, Potentials and Relics
  • All Bosses and enemies
  • All Dungeons

You should also join the Discord for the latest announcements and tracking updates. The update log has a detailed list of everything that's been added to the game or changed. With an RPG like Absolvement it pays to track patch notes for buffs, nerfs and reworks.

The Discord is also full of useful channels like suggestions, art, and sneak peeks. It gives you an opportunity to both connect with the community and devs and ask specific questions about the game like tips, tricks and tier lists. While Absolvement's skill trees are mostly balanced, nothing beats asking an experienced player what's good to run.

That's it for my Absolvement Trello board, Wiki page and Discord server guide. Check out our Absolvement codes article for any potential codes that may come out.

A ghost trapped in a summoning circle in front of a flaming cross in Phasmophobia

If you think you've mastered the art of ghost hunting in Phasmophobia, you may be ready to put your skills to the test. Weekly challenge modes are a great way to see just how good you are.

These special trials modify how the game works, usually with rules that make the experience a lot harder. Successfully finishing the challenge gets you plenty of XP and cash, so it's well worth the effort. Here's the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia and everything you need to know to beat it.

Phasmophobia weekly challenge mode (Oct. 12-19)

The missed delivery challenge in phasmophobia
Screenshot by Destructoid

From Oct. 12 to 19, the weekly challenge is Missed Delivery in Phasmophobia. In this challenge, you've only got one of each item to work with, making strategy and precision key since some items can only be used once.

How to complete the weekly challenge in Phasmophobia

To finish the weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia, you need to correctly identify the ghost present on the featured map three times. The specific changes present in each trial mode vary, but your goal is always the same.

All Missed Delivery weekly challenge modifiers in Phasmophobia

This challenge mode has several specific rules that modify the way the contract functions. Here are all the key details you need to know about this trial.

  • Map: Brownstone High School
  • Starting sanity: 100 percent
  • Sanity drain speed: 200 percent
  • Sanity medication restoration: 30 percent
  • Setup time: None
  • Player speed: 100 percent
  • Ghost speed: 100 percent
  • Weather: Random
  • Fuse box state: Starts off and is marked on the map
  • Cursed Possession: Random
  • Equipment: Only Tier I items.

    • Tier I: Sound Recorder, Spirit Box, Sound Sensor, Salt, Video Camera, Tripod, DOTS Projector, Ghost Writing Book, Flashlight, UV Light, Thermometer, Photo Camera, EMF Reader, Incense, Motion Sensor, Firelight, Igniter, Sanity Medication, Crucifix, Parabolic Microphone, and Head Gear.

  • Missing Equipment: All but one of each item.

Phasmophobia Missed Delivery weekly challenge mode tips

The Missed Delivery challenge is one of the trickier ones you can attempt in Phasmophobia, so here are some of the best tips to help you get it done.

  • Bring all your equipment to the front door. Before you start investigating, bring all of the items you need to the front door.. It can be a bit annoying to do, but bringing all of your items to the front door early on buys you back a lot of time throughout the match.
  • Get the fuse box on first. Your Tier I Flashlight barely provides any light, and Brownstone High School feels like an especially dark map. Because of this, start each contract by getting the fuse box on. This is also crucial for keeping your sanity up, as you don't want to hang out in darkness any longer than necessary.
  • Watch for unofficial evidence, behaviors, and patterns. You have limited gear to work with, so ghost hunting is a bit tough in this one. Be on the lookout for unofficial evidence, behaviors, and patterns to make catching the right culprit a bit easier. Look for clues like the Wraith's refusal to ever step in Salt or the Obake's six-fingered handprint to catch the culprit here.
  • Run if needed. In the event of a ghost hunt, it's almost always better to run than hide here. Brownstone High School is huge, with endless hallways to loop around during hunts. Running always feels like the best way to escape and survive on this map.
  • Play with friends. Your odds of success are a lot better with allies helping you through this tricky trial. With additional ghost hunters at your side, you can explore the map more quickly, work together to gather evidence, and continue the investigation even if you perish.
  • Don't give up. Since all equipment is provided for free, there's nothing to lose in this challenge. Because of this, you can keep trying without worrying about losing money or equipment. Give each contract your all and keep at it until you get it done.
  • Make an educated guess. Some ghosts are just easier to identify than others, so luck plays a large role in how easy or tough this trial is. Even if you have no evidence at all, always make a guess before you leave, then reroll to try again.

When does the challenge mode change in Phasmophobia?

The challenge mode changes every Monday at 12am UTC, which translates to 7pm CT every Sunday. You have a full week to tackle each challenge mode when it's available. All challenge modes return regularly since they're on a rotating schedule, so if you don't get to finish one, you can always try it again in the future.

Next weekly challenge mode in Phasmophobia

The next weekly challenge mode, which will run for a full week from Oct. 19 to 26, will be Audio Only. This challenge mode will begin as soon as this week's featured one, Missed Delivery, ends.

uma racing trello board link

Uma Racing is Roblox's version Umamusume: Pretty Derby and one of the best adaptations on the platform. This is for various reasons but mainly great gameplay mechanics and amazing art. Their Discord has speed-painting videos which I highly recommend. Speaking of Discord, there's also the Uma Racing Trello and Wiki so that you can stay informed on everything in the game.

Uma Racing Trello, Wiki and Discord Guide

uma racing wiki page link
Image via Uma Racing Community

Here are all manner of useful links for playing Uma Racing from Wikis to social links:

I would start with the Trello for sure since it's one of the best Trellos for any Roblox game. It's so well organized with each aspect of the game from mechanics to Umas and more. The Wiki is also a good place to get info on all Umas. You'll find info on:

  • All basic mechanics
  • All controls
  • Strategies
  • All Umas and their active and passive abilities as well as drawbacks
  • All cosmetics and emotes
  • Name tags
  • Future sneak peeks

After the Trello our tier list and the Wiki are the best places to get more info on the game. There's also the Discord which is a must-have for announcements and updates. It's also where you can connect with the community and ask specific questions like tips and tricks.

What I like most about the Discord is the community creations, official art and the suggestions channels. The former two are definitely recommendations. For example, you can find the official speedpaints for all Umas from their respective artists.

That's it for my Uma Racing Trello board, Wiki page and Discord server guide. Also, check out our Uma Racing codes article for the latest Gacha resource codes.

uma racing tier list and guide

In a game where you can activate your ability only once, you'd better make sure you have the best Uma with the strongest one. There are exceptions though and some Umas have passives and drawbacks that alter the rankings. I'll be rating them all to see what is the best Uma in this Uma Racing tier list and guide.

Uma Racing Umas Tier List

uma racing uma tier list

The best Uma in Uma Racing depends on both your skill and, unfortunately, higher rarities. You can still win with a lower rarity Uma against a higher rarity one if you're more skilled at Stamina management than your opponents. That said, on the same level of skill, a higher rarity Uma has the advantage. I highly recommend Daiwa for beginners but Suzuka and Rice are objectively the strongest.

S-Tier Umas

S-Tier Umas All Abilities Why S-Tier

Silence Suzuka
Legendary
Active
• Instantly accelerates to maximum speed for a brief duration, ignoring slowdown effects. Used to break away from the pack or maintain the lead.
While her ability is active, stamina consumption halts completely. During this time, she's untouchable by stamina drains and fatigue debuffs.

Passive
• Naturally accelerates faster than any other runner, allowing her to reach top speed in record time.
Her movement inputs essentially become sharper and more responsive, letting her reposition or adjust her lane faster than others.

Drawback
• Suzuka's QTE segments are slightly faster than average and include up to 5 inputs instead of 4, making them trickier to hit consistently. Missing them can break her rhythm and cost her the lead.

• While Rice has a slightly better active while she's behind someone, Silence has the best ability in the game that is strong wherever you are
• The dash is soo strong because it ignores slows from Rice and ignores stamina use
• Silence also has the better acceleration and her drawback isn't a big deal once you get used to quick-time events on start
• Overall Silence is generally the best in the game with Rice being situationally better

Rice Shower
Legendary
Active
• Gains a burst of speed for a short duration, and after a few seconds she bursts to pass anyone infront of her.
When running directly behind someone after the skill is activated, she slows the runner ahead and prevents them from accelerating for a moment.
If she's the only one ahead, when activate the skill she gains only an extra speed increase.
While the surge is active, stamina does not decrease. If she is behind someone, she regenerates stamina instead of losing it.

Drawback
• She has a delayed surge with the sprint boost being shortly after she uses her skill.

• While Rice's ability is slightly weaker than Silence if you're in the lead, it's the best ability in the game if you're second place
• The slow is massive and allows you to overtake any other Uma
• Just watch out not to use it when Silence uses hers since Silence will ignore your slow with her active
• The best strategy with Rice is to save her ability when you are in second place with the note that you watch out for Silence's active

A-Tier Umas

A-Tier Umas All Abilities Why A-Tier

Daiwa Scarlet
Rare
Active
• Daiwa Scarlet can activate a powerful dash twice per race, each use unleashing a burst of forward speed.
Both activations allows her to surge ahead or recover her position at critical moments.
Each use briefly grants resistance to slowing effects and sharpens her acceleration curve.

Passive
• Daiwa can use her active ability two times per race instead of once.

• Daiwa can almost compete with the S-Tiers because even though her active is weaker she can use it twice
• This gives you massive flexibility in a race to both catch up or maintain a lead
• She's easily the third-best Uma in the game and sometimes second-best if you can play around the Rice Shower active slow
• Best of all you don't have any drawbacks

B-Tier Umas

B-Tier Umas All Abilities Why B-Tier

Gold Ship
Rare
Active
• Temporarily boosts forward speed for a short duration.
Completely negates stamina drain for a limited time, allowing her to maintain her pace.

Passives
• Natural stamina consumption is drastically reduced, allowing Gold Ship to maintain her pace long after others would be gasping for air.

Drawbacks
• There's a small chance for Gold Ship to trip mid-use of her active ability, causing a brief tumble and recovery animation.

• While Gold Ship's ability is quite strong ignoring stamina drain, the trip can kill your run
• It's basically an RNG event each time you pop your active because if you trip the animation means you're getting overtaken by experienced players
• That said, her dash is more powerful than Daiwa since it ignores stamina and if you don't trip of course
• Still, I find Daiwa more reliable due to her double ability use and no occasional trip debuff so Gold goes to B-Tier

C-Tier Umas

C-Tier Umas All Abilities Why C-Tier

Air Groove
Uncommon
Active
• Air Groove channels her unshakable composure into flawless momentum.
While active, she steadily regenerates stamina and gains a slight increase in forward speed.
Runners directly ahead are struck by her fierce presence, momentarily blinded and disoriented.
• Air Groove's main use for her ability is to use it aggressively in second or third place behind other Umas to blind them
• It's a very niche ability but can be quite powerful if you line it up for the blind to overtake people in the lead
• That said, she isn't as reliable as the higher tiers since her dash isn't as powerful and you have to look for those specific opportunities to use it
• Otherwise, if you don't use it aggressively, you might just as well have picked Haru Urara

Haru Urara
Common
Active
• Upon activation, Haru Urara's unyielding spirit surges forth, restoring stamina and slightly increasing her speed.
• Nothing special to say here, this is your starter that you should replace with the higher rarities when you can
• The dash is okay and can win you races against higher rarities if you play better
• But other than that, if you're on the same skill level as someone and they have a higher rarity Uma, you'll just be underpowered and lose
• That's why I didn't put any Uma in D-Tier, because each one can be good if you have mastered the basic mechanics of Uma Racing and are skilled enough
• It's just that on that same level of skill, the higher rarity Umas have an advantage

Uma Racing Tips & Tricks

Here are some tips and advice for winning Uma Racing matches as a beginner:

  • Master the QTE: The quick-time event at the beginning is crucial to you getting an early lead or the upper positions. If you do well later with Stamina management, doing well on the starting QTE will carry over to put you in a better place to win.
  • Managing Stamina: Keep your acceleration bar directly on the white line since this is your efficiency zone. It will keep your speed on a consistent level without massive Stamina losses. If you go full throttle right off the bat it will drain your Stamina fast and you'll have a more difficult time recovering it. Learn to balance your Stamina and pace for better results.
  • Stamina Recovery: You don't need to slow down to recover Stamina, you just have to pick the right moment. The best moments are straight paths, open stretches and safe distances from other runners.
  • Corner Recovery: Master the Spacebar corner mini-game which directly boosts your regeneration on corners. This is just as important as the starter QTEs.
  • Go All Out on The Final Turn: Everyone is usually saving their skills for the final stretch where you should go all out if you managed your Stamina well. This is the best time to use your active skill to guarantee first place. Watch out for Rice Shower slows and Daiwa Scarlet blinds (described above).
  • Slipstream and Spurt: Positioning is extremely important since you can Slipstream behind players in front of you to save stamina so you can follow a leading player for a while to conserve Stamina. Don't do this for too long and try to overtake them. Also, use your Spurts. It can be used with Sprinting at Full Speed to gain even more momentum. Spurt drains Stamina on use, but could be game-changing once you master the timing and stamina management.

That's it for my Uma Racing tier list and guide. Check out our Uma Racing codes to get a bunch of Gacha resources and score top-tier Umas faster.

Pikachu feeling embarrassed in the Pokémon anime.

Hey trainers! I want to preface this article by stating that we won't be linking to any of the information we discuss. Primarily, it appears that the information is coming from stolen data. Mostly, we wanted to make this article serve as a PSA warning for any readers who were curious about what was going on, so if you came here looking for juicy details, we'd advise you to look elsewhere.

However, if you thought ZA would be the only Pokémon game leaking this week, I don't think anyone could have been prepared for a second teraleak, which has apparently revealed three new games under development by The Pokémon Company out of nowhere. And while we can't factually say this information is real, the evidence is pretty damning, trainers.

Now, I'm sure you are asking why we're not revealing what is being discussed in more detail and instead giving you a PSA warning? Well, it is pretty obvious. Most of this information is coming from theft, and while other sites might be jumping on this now-public information, we at Destructoid want to take a step back to issue a warning for trainers who want to avoid it, rather than writing out everything that is being showcased. After all, if you want to see it, it won't be hard to find.

Of course, there is also the chance that the stuff being revealed no longer exists and are previous plans that Game Freak has scrapped. However, to give an idea of what is being shown, in addition to new game announcements, several beta assets for previous games, canceled or unused Pokémon, and forms are also being released right now, among other details.

We apologize if you came here expecting us to delve into all the available information. We won't be doing that. However, if, like us, you'd prefer to hold back and wait for official announcements, consider staying off social media for a while.

Peacemaker looking at a mural of himself and his friends and the scooby doo crew posing in green fog

Hey there, Destructoid, and welcome to another week of chatting about what we've been watching lately. This time around, we're diving into season two of a recent television show and discussing two live-action adaptations of some beloved characters.

Peacemaker season two just finished this past week, so there's plenty to talk about, including that absolutely brutal cliffhanger. I've also recently rewatched the 2002 film Scooby-Doo and its 2004 sequel Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, so we'll get into those to help kick off the spooky season, too.

First up, let's dive into talking about Peacemaker season two and how it's certainly secured its place among the best superhero shows to date. At its core, this show is very character-driven and carried by a key cast of endlessly lovable characters, with a strong roster that was already perfect after season one but gained some incredible new members throughout the second season.

Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury is probably my favorite addition this season. He's relentlessly funny in every project he joins, but his character is especially hilarious in this show. His running "bird blindness" bit has become a recurring joke among my family, and one that will likely stick with us forever.

The mystery of the other world plot that ran throughout the full season was quite compelling, and even though I picked up on what was going on early on, the big twist that the seemingly perfect world was actually terrible still had a profound impact. It was thoroughly enjoyable to see alternate versions of the main characters, too, especially when the Vigilantes met up and caused mayhem together.

I also really loved all of the Superman cameos this season. Lex Luthor was, unsurprisingly, the biggest and coolest one, but it was also awesome to see others like Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and some of Luthor's crew. The DCU's future looks so bright, and I can't wait to see where we go next.

The ending, though, was absolutely brutal, and I'm scared to see what comes next with Peacemaker trapped in another dimension, especially since there are no plans for a third season as of now. I'm hoping this means we get a new show instead, perhaps called Checkmate, to focus on the group's new organization and share the spotlight more between the characters going forward.

Funnily enough, I recently learned that James Gunn, the mastermind behind Peacemaker, was a key player behind both of the live-action Scooby-Doo films, which is part of what prompted my rewatch of them. It's probably been around five years or so since I last watched them, and they're perfect for spooky season, so I also wanted to see whether they held up to what I remembered.

These films are so campy, over the top, and absolutely ridiculous at times, but that's exactly what makes them work so well for me. Leaning into the absurd nature of the premise really helps them nail the landing, and they're still two of my favorite Scooby-Doo projects to date. They're so flawed and messy, but they're also pure fun and hilarious from start to finish.

Admittedly, these movies are very nostalgic for me, as I watched them plenty growing up. Still, my love for them has only increased over time, especially as we've gotten more Scooby-Doo projects and none of them have been good. I do think these characters work best in animation, but not always, as is evidenced by the horrendous 2020 adaptation Scoob!. I'll really take any excuse to see more of Mystery Inc., though, so revisiting these films was a fun trip down memory lane and a reminder that we could do with some new Scooby-Doo content in our lives.

So, Destructoid, what about you? What have you been enjoying watching lately? Have you had a chance to check out the latest season of Peacemaker yet, or do you plan to? And what do you think about the live-action Scooby-Doo movies? Have any other movies or shows been occupying your time? Let us know down in the comments so we can discuss.

mega greninja za screenshot

Pokémon Legends ZA is mere days away, and we finally have some news on when Mega Greninja will appear, with The Pokémon Company confirming that it'll be available day one as part of the first season of ranked.

For those who don't know, Mega Greninja, Chestnaught, and Delphox are all tied to the different ranked seasons players can take part in in-game. Mega Greninja will be a part of season one as a ranked reward, while Delphox and Chestnaught will come in later seasons at an unspecified time.

We didn't know precisely when the first-ranked season would be active, though. Still, now we know that it'll be available at launch, meaning players could, in theory, do some ranked to unlock it and have Mega Greninja in their main team for the main story, which is sure to delight a lot of trainers across the world.

https://twitter.com/PokemonNewsUK/status/1978038109511057448

Some information is still unclear, though, such as when trainers can unlock it, how far they need to level up in ranked to get it, and other stuff. However, it's still cool to see a confirmed release date for Day One for those who want to put in the grind to try and get it, along with the various other ranked rewards on offer.

We also don't know the details on how long the first season of Ranked will be available, and if Mega Greninja will become available in the future for those who weren't able to get the game at launch or missed the chance to unlock it. So don't delay if you love Mega Greninja, as this might be your only chance to unlock the Pokémon and play with it in ZA for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully, it's not a case of this becoming locked behind a single season and never seen again, but I wouldn't take that chance.
