The Japanese Pokemon Center chain has revealed a life-size Mimikyu plush ahead of Halloween. It will be available for purchase in the chain's physical and online storefronts at 5,940 yen (~$39.15) on October 23, 2025.
As the title suggests, this plush will have the same size as its Pokedex entry. The original Mimikyu is 0.2m / 0'08" tall, but when its Pikachu disguise is set up, it has the same total height as Pikachu at 0.4m / 1'04".
However, while other larger plushes like the Eeveelutions would have lighter weights, this Mimikyu plush will have the exact same weight listed in its Pokedex entry, which is 0.7 kg / 1.5 lbs. The company has yet to specify whether the owner would be able to remove the Pikachu disguise or not.
Here are the sample images for the upcoming plush:

Mimikyu is a Ghost/Fairy dual-type Pokemon that desires a companion. But as it has a terrifying original form, it tries to approach others with a Pikachu-like disguise. Mimikyu debuted in the Generation VII 3DS entries Pokemon Sun & Moon, and it is also available in the Nintendo Switch mainline entries, Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet.
The life-size Pokemon plush of Mimikyu will be available in Japanese physical and online Pokemon Center outlets on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Pocketpair confirmed Palworld players will see a Halloween 2025 update as part of a patch launching on October 23, 2025. That will bring the game up to 0.6.8. The Palworld logo for that version also features the NPC Zoe Rayne and the Pal Depresso.
The announcement didn't explain everything about the Palworld Halloween 2025 event, aside from highlighting Zoe and Depresso. In the case of the NPC, it seems the Rayne Syndicate head will be dressed in a costume for the season. It looks like it is a witch outfit, complete with a hat that still has cat ears similar to her normal hat. As for Depresso, it seems like a lot of people decided to dress up like that Pal for the holiday.
This is the first "big" sort of Palworld patch we've see that also included an update with new content. That's because Pocketpair is now focused on preparing for 1.0. It announced that ahead of the title exiting early access, it will focus on fixing bugs and other issues instead of new versions with a lot of additions. One of the exceptions will be a planned Winter 2025 patch.
Palworld is in early access on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, the Halloween 2025 update debuts on October 23, 2025, and the release date for the 1.0 version will fall in 2026.

Nintendo announced that there will be another showcase dedicated to the next Kirby game, as the Kirby Air Riders Direct 2 will air this week on October 23, 2025. It will once again star Director Masahiro Sakurai. That will start at 6am PT/9am ET/3pm CET.
The initial announcement didn't explain what this latest presentation will cover. It only confirmed Masahiro Sakurai will again host the Kirby Air Riders Direct 2, and that he will spend about an hour talking about the game. The YouTube placeholder stream is also already live for it. However, the teaser image only shows the game's logo and text and again offers no additional hints.
Here's that placeholder:
https://www.youtube.com/live/_ZHYjYHHiBM
This means this Direct will actually be longer than the first one that went over the game. That appeared back in August 2025. It was around 45 minutes long. It highlighted the different characters, as there is a whole roster of new additions compared to the previous entry, the fact that there is a second button for Specials now. However, that showcase did mainly focus on things like Lessons and City Trial, and Sakurai did suggest there was another mode we hadn't seen yet.
Kirby Air Riders will come to the Nintendo Switch 2, and its release date is November 20, 2025, and the Direct 2 showcase highlighting elements of it will air at 6am PT/9am ET/3pm CET on October 23, 2025. The original Kirby Air Ride game appeared on the GameCube.

Persona 3 Reload ended up being fantastic on the PS5 and, even though I still can't be Kotone Shiomi in it, it's equally lovely on the Switch 2. That's it. It's great.
…I guess I should elaborate, huh? Sure.
Ever since Persona 3 Portable on the PSP, I've really loved playing entries in Atlus' series on handheld devices. I like to try and do it all, and being able to to do that while not bound to a couch and single TV or desk helps. For my first Persona 3 Reload run, I was limited to the PS5. I didn't have any sort of handheld gaming PC, and I made due. It felt true to my original Persona 3 FES run and ended up being absolutely fine. But now that I did play Persona 3 Reload on the Switch 2, I'm stunned by how well it works and love that return to enjoying it anywhere at any time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buwz0SZWPTQ
Part of this is due to Persona 3 Reload making a great first impression on the Switch 2. The opening hours look great. I played primarily in Handheld mode, and it's a game that looks great in 1080p on that screen. It ran at 30fps and felt rather consistent, though I did notice some of the frame-pacing issues in some smaller spaces like enclosed school hallways and occasionally in Tartarus. I honestly think the full game seemed to perform better than the demo. I don't know if it's a result of Atlus taking feedback into account or some last minute touch-ups, but it really ran and looked good. (I was on 1.01 when playing.) When I did play briefly while docked, of course it didn't identical to the PS5 version. But it's very impressive in handheld mode.
Another performance element I appreciate with the Switch 2 version of Persona 3 Reload involves the loading times. The transitions between locations and fights in Tartarus is incredibly swift. It's a matter of seconds. I'm always more annoyed by loading than things like frame-pacing issues, so that could be a part of why I felt so okay with how this iteration of the title performs. I'm quickly getting and out of things. It looks lovely on my screen in Handheld mode. It's a solid JRPG that I already know I adore. Playing Persona 3 Relaod on the Switch 2 makes me happy. All's well.
Which is really at the heart of playing a massive JRPG like Persona 3 Reload on the Switch 2. You ideally want an experience that feels amazing when played anywhere at any time. The Handheld mode performance feels so strong. I could spend hours grinding in dungeons and take my time plotting out my daily life to optimize social link relationship building. It felt incredibly comfortable on the system. Battery life does get to be an issue in extended Switch 2 gaming sessions, so that does prove a problem. However, that's not on Atlus. I would say I'd probably get at least three hours of game time when it wasn't plugged in.
![]()
![]()
![]()
I also think of the Switch 2 release of Persona 3 Reload as a sign of things to come. When Zion Grassl at Nintendo Life spoke with Director Yoshihiro Komori, he noted, "[the team] prioritized delivering the Switch 2 version to everyone as quickly as possible" and stated "…this was the Persona Team's first time developing for the Switch 2." Considering this happened within six months of the system's debut, which puts it within the launch window, it's an encouraging initial release. After 25 hours in it, I do think the performance feels improved between now and the September 2025 demo debut. It's a swift turnaround for a new system and encouraging first step for Atlus on a new platform.
Persona 3 Reload is a fantastic JRPG and the Switch 2 port is pretty impressive considering how swiftly it appeared. The frame rate issues seem to be addressed at least a little for the full version, which makes me suspect performance could perhaps even improve further with another patch. It looks fantastic in Handheld mode, with the experience really shining when you can enjoy it at any time. I really appreciate how well it turned out and, now that the Persona Team and Atlus did get this experience, I hope it also means that their next projects will be even more impressive and perhaps even offer us an opportunity to choose between performance or quality options when we play. The Switch 2, like the original, is becoming my default console for games whenever possible, and I love that Persona 3 Reload joined Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal.
Persona 3 Reload will come to the Switch 2 on October 23, 2025, and it is already on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

It's almost that time of year when we in America roll the clocks back and sit in darkness for the majority of the day for several months.
Welcome back (in a couple weeks), Standard Time. You suck. Waking up in darkness and then eating dinner in darkness isn't fun, and it brings about the very real and understandable affliction of seasonal depression for millions of people.
![]()
And you know what, Standard Time? Your sort-of-equivalent sucks in games, too. It's not exactly the same thing at all, but the upcoming and impending darkness has me thinking about how day/night cycles in games really bug me.
For full disclosure, I thought up the idea for this piece while in a rage after losing a Pokémon after the game transitioned from day to night. Every time that happens in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, a mini cutscene plays, and then you're given control again. The Pokémon I was attempting to catch disappeared because certain monsters only show up depending on the time of day. I was livid.
I've calmed down now (I'm an adult, mind you), but I've been dwelling on how I really don't like these sorts of mechanics in games – and I never have. I think of games like Minecraft or Stardew Valley, where you're basically on a timer to get stuff done during the day before all hell breaks loose at night, and it irks me. It's why I've never been able to get fully immersed in Stardew.
I already feel like I'm on the clock most hours of the day, trying to get everything done. I really hate that games make me feel this way, too. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can sit on a bench to pass time, and in Minecraft, you can sleep to get to the next morning, but I'd just rather be able to do what I want without worrying about the setting sun.
The sun is setting on us all as it is, anyway, and I dislike being reminded by that fact during what's supposed to be my leisure time. And I also hate feeling rushed in-game, just like I sometimes am in real life, to complete tasks before it's time to head to bed and wake up to a new, fresh hell.
Yes, I understand Pokémon Legends: Z-A gives you plenty of warnings about when the sun is about to set, but I think that honestly makes it worse for me. It's like playing the game with someone lurking over my shoulder, back-seating my every move, saying, "You better hurry up!" Please stop.
![]()
This sort of mechanic isn't always a bad thing. Being on a timer works in some games where the tone is set by it, like a battle royale, extraction shooter, or something like Elden Ring: Nightreign. But when I play those games, I expect it to be there. A laid-back game like Pokémon should remain as chill as possible.
I'm willing to bet I'm not alone in my thoughts here, so let me know in the comments below while you still can if you agree (or disagree) with this sentiment. Because the clock is ticking, the sun is about to set, and the night is dark and full of terrors.

Ultimate Scream has been confirmed for FC 26, and the first set of leaks for Team 1 has already started to appear on social media.
Ultimate Scream will be making its Ultimate Team return after a few years, and the community couldn't be more delighted. EA Sports has already confirmed the release date ahead of its Halloween launch, but remains tight-lipped about the players.
Thankfully, we can have a fair idea of what to expect, all thanks to the leaks.
Table of contents
All FC 26 Ultimate Scream Team 1 players (leaks)
So far, the leaks have been few in number. As of Oct. 20, EA Sports has confirmed the promo. We should get more leaks in the upcoming days revolving around the first promo team, but so far, this is all we have.
Incidentally, Ultimate Scream will have its own share of Heroes in packs. So far, no Hero card has been leaked, but big names are expected to be present. While a bulk of the promo cards will be in packs, expect to find more items in SBCs and objectives.
FC 26 Ultimate Scream Team 1 release date
The first promo team will be released on Friday, Oct. 24, when the Ratings Reload promo expires. The first team will be added via packs (both store packs and any available in your inventory) and SBCs/objectives.
If you don't want to spend real-life money or rely on luck, going for the SBCs and the objectives will be best. You're assured of the rewards by exchanging fodder or completing certain tasks. It will be interesting to find out which cards make it to the first team of the promo, and who could potentially miss out, contrary to expectations.

"What if we turned Slay the Spire into a gacha?" is a question no fan of the game has ever asked. The devs at Smilegate did ask this, though, and came up with Chaos Zero Nightmare, a gacha game with roguelike and cardbattler elements that also takes a page out of Darkest Dungeon's book.
Thanks to CZN's closed beta, we already know what the game looks like before it's released globally on Oct. 22. Just like in your average gacha, your goal is to battle monsters in a series of stages across multiple game modes, from the main story to a roguelike mode that resembles Slay the Spire. You build your team with three characters and use Action Points to play their cards, which can damage enemies or affect your team with buffs, healing, and other effects.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDFkvOXO2Jg
If you're a fan of Slay the Spire, the combat in CZN seems to be about as close as you'll get to the OG roguelike card game. Everything else is wildly different and built to keep you investing time, money, or both to improve your characters and cards. The Energy system is a time gate that restricts how many battles you can play in a day, while Character gachas dictate which cards are available to you and the power of their effects. It's like if Slay the Spire forced you to spin the wheel to unlock The Watcher, pay some money to upgrade cards on the Campfire, and limit your Ascension runs to three per day.
I admit that, at first, it looks like Smilegate is just making a bad version of Slay the Spire that is fun if you're a gacha whale. But I'm also excited to give it a try, because I've played really good games like AFK Journey with good strategic depth and fun gameplay hiding behind a gacha system. If the gacha isn't predatory and you can enjoy the game without spending, then I'm probably down to giving it a shot for a few weeks.
Chaos Zero Nightmare will be released globally on PC, Android, and iOS on Oct. 22.

Chilla's Art is back with a completely new form, and this time we're headed to the ocean. The open water greets you with open arms, offering a boat, gas station, merchant, and a small sandy beach to trick you into thinking you have spawned in paradise. But it's more like purgatory. The singular task to "go to school" brings you back down to reality, even though nothing you're looking at makes much sense.
This is UMIGARI, an upcoming indie horror fishing game—and it's like nothing we've ever seen from Chilla's Art.
![]()
A dev I always look forward to seeing what comes next is Chilla's Art, best known for The Closing Shift, Parasocial, The Bathhouse, and Aka Manto. With a distinct look and identity that focuses either on the supernatural or stalker villains, Chilla's Art has made a name for crafting consistent slow-burn horrors with janky yet creepy imagery. In a similar vein to Rayll's Fears to Fathom series or Puppet Combo's many titles, Chilla's Art has a signature, but the latest demo is very different from what this dev usually releases.
UMIGARI is a fishing simulator that follows the typical sim rulebook: Reel in fish, sell for profit, and spend your hard-earned cash on upgrades. Simulators have been increasingly popular on YouTube and Twitch, with titles such as Schedule 1, Hellmart, PowerWash, and Supermarket Simulator, alongside the highly anticipated Quarantine Zone and We Harvest Shadows. There's something strangely comforting and addictive about these games, and Chilla's Art knows this. It's easy to get distracted by bigger fish, more money, and new places to explore, but there's something off about what's at the end of the line. Fish with hands as fins and human teeth, screaming as the harpoon hits their skin.
It begs the question: What exactly are you?
On the surface, there's nothing particularly nefarious going on. Yet, similar to DREDGE, Subnautica, and Iron Lung, it's about diving underneath the rippling waves to uncover the darkest secrets. Japanese folklore sits at the heart of this entry, where symbolism and strange dialogue reminiscent of Silent Hill will make you question what exactly you're playing.
![]()
Chilla's Art games are getting weirder by the second, and I'm all for it. Shinkansen 0 and Cursed Digicam could be the titles that pushed the dev into a new, experimental identity where confusion, disorientation, and panic are top of the list to craft a horror you'll never forget. It's impossible to predict Chilla's Art now, and that's a good thing.
No official release date has been given at the time of writing. That Chilla's Art dreaded build never left, and UMIGARI's demo conclusion is one that'll surely make you want more. It's clear why Chilla chose to give us a good 30 minutes to an hour of gameplay early, because UMIGARI has already reeled me in, and I know I'll be swept away when this surrealistic adventure drops.
