Battlefield 6's battle royale mode REDSEC is out now, a "genre shifting free-to-play destination" that includes both the promised Fortnite functionality and a new squad-based competitive mode, Gauntlet - no, not that Gauntlet, auto keyword linker, stop it, you're making me look daft, UGH I don't have time to argue with you, please just go away - together with additional gubbins for Battlefield's Portal editor. You can find it either via your Battlefield 6 install or as a separate release on Steam.

REDSEC's battle royale map is Fort Lyndon, pictured below, with takes place in the backyards and beaches of California, and is apparently the series' biggest map ever. The setup is familiar: 100 players divided into squads are dropped into the world and must scrounge for pick-ups and do shooticuffs and fistibangs within a shrinking (and partly destructible) playspace.

The latest teasers cover every playable character, as well as some other major characters. It seems like we'll continue to see these updates leading up to launch.

First, here's the full list of Tales of Xillia Remastered Japanese voice actors that Bandai Namco reiterated will be playing certain characters:

  • Alvin: Tomokazu Sugita
  • Elize Lutus: Yuki Horinaka
  • Gaius: Ryotaro Okiayu
  • Jude Mathis: Tsubasa Yonaga
  • Leia Rolando: Saori Hayami
  • Milla Maxwell: Miyuki Sawashiro
  • Muzet: Asami Sanada
  • Rowen J Ilbert: Mugihito

Here are all the teaser images Bandai Namco released on social media so far. In the case of the playable Tales of Xillia Remastered characters, there's a quote attributed to them alongside their official art, while the other members of the cast feature a description explaining who they are.

Bandai Namco already noted its commitment to Tales of remaster projects even before this latest one. In a Famitsu interview, it teased that two more are in development. During that, it was suggested that Tales of Xillia 2 is in line to return.

Tales of Xillia Remastered will come to the Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 30, 2025. The original game appeared on the PS3.

IRyS and Ninomae Ina'nis Share New Covers With Nanashi Mumei Hololive Vtubers

Active Hololive Vtubers IRyS and Ninomae Ina'nis both released new cover songs performed with graduated member Nanashi Mumei. The Ina'nis music video appeared first and features the two singing the song "Deep in Abyss." The IRyS performance followed a few hours later and is a cover of "Gehenna." As a reminder, Mumei left the company on April 28, 2025.

The Ninomae Ina'nis and Nanashi Mumei duet may sound very familiar if you keep up with anime series. "Deep in Abyss" is the opening for the first season of the anime adaptation of Made in Abyss. Ina'nis also drew the picture of her and Mumei together in outfits inspired by Riko's attire from the series.

You can see the "Deep in Abyss" cover music video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g83ppe-AiVY

As for the IRyS and Nanashi Mumei cover of "Gehenna," that is their take on the wotaku Hatsune Miku song. That original song also appeared in the most recent game based on the Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage (Project Sekai).

Here's how their cover of "Gehenna" sounds.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qkkPOD85YE

Before her graduation, one of the things Nanashi Mumei was known for was her singing, and the Hololive Vtuber released a few covers leading up to her departure. The very last one shown on her channel is a cover of Rokudenashi's "One Voice," which you can see below:

Both IRyS and Ninomae Ina'nis are active Hololive Vtubers, and Nanashi Mumei graduated back in April 2025.

We're going to be real with you. The internet sucks right now. Traffic is down due to a variety of factors, like Google AI mode. You've probably noticed fewer articles running per day on Siliconera, and by fewer writers. In an effort to try and keep serving you with all the great news, reviews, previews, playtests, and interviews that we have in the past, we are reviving Siliconera+. For $1.99, you get no ads and other bonuses. We're hoping that, if enough people subscribe, we could use that additional income to help support the site and feature more articles per week.

So, what do you get for $1.99? We want to offer more than just "no ads." This means two additional features to start:

  1. Automatic monthly entry in a contest for a free game. Each month, we'll give away one PC game to one random Siliconera+ subscriber. (The one for November 2025 will be the PC version of Hades 2.) People who don't subscribe are also able to enter via a form found in our free monthly newsletter, which you can sign up for at any time. The link to enter for free will appear in that email that shows up on the last Friday of every month.
  2. Monthly survey to help suggest future news and feature coverage. On the last day of each month, the members-only article that announces the free game contest for the next month and winner of the previous month's game will include a survey that allows you to help weigh in on what we could cover. This will also include an open-ended "any other feedback" short answer portion for additional outreach. While we will still prioritize some topics we know bring in traffic (like Hatsune Miku, Sanrio, and some figure and anime stories), this will allow you to offer additional insight into things we might have otherwise missed.

Now, we know in the past we had a Siliconera+ ad-free subscription tier that ended up not working out/working well. Part of that was due to the technology, as well as the transition between ownership, meaning some elements got last in the shift. Throughout October 2025, we've been testing this internally and think we've gotten all the bugs worked out.

We'd really love to expand what we offer and keep serving the community as we did before. And if you have any further questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know in the comments below. Thank you for visiting us!

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Gets Broly and Golden Frieza DLC This Week

Bandai Namco shared the release date for the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Future Saga Chapter 3 DLC, which includes the DB Super version of Broly and Ultra Supervillain Golden Frieza. It will launch for every platform on October 30, 2025. A trailer also appeared showing what we can expect from the new characters. Previously, another trailer showed visual novel and dating sim-like elements with Broly and Cheelai

The video basically confirms some of the things we already knew would be part of this add-on while also hintinga t some others. That new storyline shown in the other trailer is the "Cheelai & Broly All Out! Conton City Patrol" scenario we can experience. That's teased a bit at the start of the clip. Then we get to see Broly (DB Super) and Golden Frieza (Ultra Supervillain) segments. Once those parts are done, the additional Parallel Quests, Conton City Ruins stage, extra costumes and accessories, loading screen illustrations, additional moves, and Super Souls are teased. The announcement also closes with a tease that Future Saga Chapter 4 is on the way.

Here's the full Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Future Saga Chapter 3 trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtxSegpS7TI

We saw a few other new characters join Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in 2025 ahead of Broly and Golden Frieza. Back in May 2025, there was a Dragon Ball Daima pack. That added Super Saiyan 4 Goku (Daima), Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta (Daima). It costs $7.99. However, as the Future Saga Chapter 1 pack was $19.99 and Chapter 2 was $9.99, we can't be sure how much Chapter 3 will be until launch day.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Future Saga Chapter 3 DLC will debut on October 30, 2025.

My Melody and Kuromi Tamagotchi Nano Virtual Pet Prices Revealed

The My Melody and Kuromi Tamagotchi Nano models launched in Japan on October 25, 2025 and, while we don't have a worldwide release window for the virtual pets yet, both a Bandai Namco newsletter and the US Sanrio site shared the price. These cost 2,860円 in Japan, but they will be $24.99 each in the US. This marks an increase in the price, as the Hello Kitty variant released in 2024 cost $19.99 at launch and remain around that now. They are listed as "coming soon."

As these are Nano versions of the virtual pets, the models are smaller than usual and only offer a monochromatic display. The My Melody variant features a pink shell with the character on it, while the Kuromi one is purple with her all over the face. The virtual pet itself is identical regardless of the exterior appearance. In both cases, the two Sanrio mascots will show up to help you raise your virtual pet. Depending on what you feed it (pound cake or pickled onions) and how often you play minigames like Balloon Making, Piano Lesson, and Shooting Star, you could end up getting one of a handful of classic Tamagotchi characters either wearing a My Melody or Kuromi hat on their head.

Here's a closer look at how both variants will look:

And here's a look at the Japanese growth chart that show the different possible evolution options:

The My Melody and Kuromi Tamagotchi Nano models are available in Japan now, and the Sanrio themed virtual pets are "coming soon."

Yakuza: Like a Dragon Ichiban Kasuga Figure Includes Nancy the Crawfish

Kotobukiya announced a release window for the Yakuza: Like a Dragon Ichiban Kasuga figure and, when it did, confirmed that Nancy the crawfish will be included with him as an accessory. It will cost 28,600円 when it debuts in Japan in May 2026. The North American release window falls in June 2026, and it will cost $249.99 there. Purchasing it directly from the company will also net someone an acrylic block with Kasuga's tattoo design on it.

This is a 1/6 scale figure, so it stands at about 13 inches tall (330mm). There are no additional face or arm parts for different poses. He'll always look like he's wielding the Hero's Bat wrapped in barbed wire. However, Nancy the crawfish is an optional extra. That character can be displayed perched on his arm or on the base by his feet.

Here are some photos of the full Ichiban Kasuga figure:

There are also two showing Nancy on the base from the front and back:

And here's how the bonus acrylic block looks:

Image via Sega and Kotobukiya

There are quite a few Ichiban Kasuga figures out there based on his Yakuza: Like a Dragon appearance. Good Smile Company made a Nendoroid of him, for example. That will appear worldwide by the end of 2025. It does not come with Nancy the crawfish.

The Ichiban Kasuga Yakuza: Like a Dragon figure will launch in Japan in May 2026, then appear worldwide in June 2026. That game is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Amazon's Luna service.

Stellaron Hunters Characters Return in Honkai: Star Rail Trailer

HoYoVerse brought back the Stellaron Hunters to show what those characters were up to during the Amphoreus saga in Honkai: Star Rail. The new Myriad Celestia animated trailer looks at members of that team to show what they were up to following events on Penacony and while the Astral Express team was busy dealing with the new crisis. This also marks the first time we've seen Elio in a while, as he appears in his cat form alongside Kafka in this new Honkai: Star Rail footage.

Editor's Note: There will be spoilers for the Amphoreus and Penacony Honkai: Star Rail storyline in the new Stellaron Hunters Myriad Celestia trailer.

This latest video begins with an update on what happened after the events of Penacony and the toll that took on the Stellaron Hunters. Firefly, aka S.A.M., is in a sort of status, with Silver Wolf overlooking her care and saying she did all she could. Kafka and Elio are sitting and watching Amphoreus, showing that team was nearby during the latest Honkai: Star Rail events. Kafka then goes over possible futures that hint at what could happen on Amphoreus based on the Trailblazer and Cyrene's choices and what might happen to the universe as a whole depending on where the Astral Express goes next. She then points out that they are down to two possible endings for Amphoreus, highlighting that there could be a huge cost either way. That video then closes with Kafka, Silver Wolf, Blade, and Elios being shown, as well as a hint that we'll see that crew meet the Astral Express folks in 4.0.

Here's the full "Myriad Celestia - Exotale: Scene 8" Honkai: Star Rail trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3bRer52asE

Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and this latest trailer hints we'll see the Stellaron Hunters characters return to the story after the Amphoreus storyline ends. The 3.7 patch arrives on November 5, 2025.

under armour dragon quest header

Under Armour is collaborating with Square Enix on a line of Dragon Quest clothing, and you'll be able to buy the adventurous fits starting from November 7, 2025. Only the Under Armour Factory House locations in Premium Outlets will carry the Dragon Quest clothing, and there are only ten stores in Japan. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

Designs feature familiar monsters from Dragon Quest exercising, lifting weights, and enjoying a "cheat meal" hamburger. One design even brings back the nostalgic old-school pixelated art style, featuring a Slime hanging out in an Under Armour store. The prices and merchandise in the Join the Quest! Under Armour and Dragon Quest collaboration are:

  • Heavyweight short-sleeve T-shirt: 5,940 JPY (~$39)
  • Tech terry hoodie: 8,910 JPY (~$59)
  • Tote bag: 5,500 JPY (~$36)

While the long-running Dragon Quest franchise is popular enough to appear in collaborations without any new content from Square Enix, there actually is quite a bit on the horizon for Dragon Quest fans to look forward to. On October 30, 2025, Dragon Quest I and II HD-2D Remake will appear on modern consoles. Next year, on February 5, 2026, Square Enix will release Dragon Quest VII Reimagined on modern consoles.

The Under Armour Dragon Quest collaboration line will appear in Under Armour Factory House locations in Japan starting from November 7, 2025.

Ultimate Scream promo art in FC 26

Ultimate Scream Team 2 players are coming to FC 26 Ultimate Team very soon, and you can expect some fantastic cards hidden in packs.

These cards, like Team 1, will be heavily influenced by Halloween and will get boosts on full-moon nights. So far, EA Sports has remained tight-lipped about the cards that are coming to the second team. However, we already have confirmation about the release date, and certain leaks are also likely to appear before the full launch.

FC 26 Ultimate Scream 2 release countdown

The Ultimate Team 2 cards will be available as soon as Team 1 gets removed. The new cards will be added to packs on Friday, Oct. 31. The following countdown will expire once the new cards are in packs.

[hurrytimer id="1134556"]

The countdown is based on the following timings. It's the usual routine that EA Sports follows every Friday when it comes to releasing a new batch of promo cards in packs.

  • 11am PT
  • 1pm CT
  • 2pm ET
  • 6pm UTC/BST
  • 7pm CEST

If you have stored packs in your club inventory, you can also open them to find promo cards, potentially. We should also find new promo cards as part of SBCs and objectives. Unlike items from packs, you won't have to rely on luck to find them.

FC 26 Ultimate Scream 2 players (leaks)

As of writing, we have received the first set of leaks.

  • Park Ji Sung
  • Ousmane Dembele
  • Marcus Rashford (coming as an SBC player pick)
  • Christian Pulisic (coming as SBC)

We should get more leaks as we get closer to the release date. We will duly add them to the guide once they appear on social media. EA Sports could also tease us some of the upcoming cards, so lookout for them as well.

Battlefield REDSEC

A whole new battlefield has arrived. Welcome to Fort Lyndon, the battle royale map in Battlefield REDSEC.

When you drop into Fort Lyndon, you will need to be geared up to take on the enemies around you, on top of the wall of fire that is ever-encroaching and looking to kill you in one hit. That's why you need to be equipped with the knowledge (and equipment) for the best guns and loadouts in Battlefield REDSEC.

The Battlefield will be evolving over time, but here are our picks for the best guns to use in REDSEC depending on your class.

Battlefield REDSEC weapons meta

Image via EA

To get your custom loadout weapons, you can earn a Custom Weapon Drop during a match or find them as they will sometimes land around the map periodically in each game. But first, you need to find some ground loot to keep yourself prepared to deal with oncoming attackers.

In REDSEC, just like BF6, weapons are not restricted to your class, but each class specializes in different weapons. This means that the best weapon to use depends on what class you're using.

Complete Battlefield REDSEC weapons tier list

REDSEC offers all 45 weapons that are also present in Battlefield 6. However, the meta for the battle royale will be different due to the nature of the mode itself. That said, you'll once again want to use really meta choices to defeat your enemies and become the last team standing.

To separate the weapons, I have used four tiers.

  • S-tier weapons are the best choices for the current meta.
  • A-tier weapons are good choices that have slight limitations compared to the options in the S-tier.
  • B-tier weapons can be decent options if you can bypass their weaknesses with the correct attachments.
  • C-tier weapons work poorly in the current meta, and it's best to avoid them unless you don't have an option.

The table below has every weapon classified according to its respective meta rating.

Tier Assault Rifle SMG Sniper LMG Carbine Shotgun DMR
S Kord 6P67
M433
UMG-40
SGX
SL9 (only if you can control its hit registrations)
M2010 ESR

The only category of weapons missing from the table above is the Handgun. You can use any that you find, and they will hardly make much of a difference in my experience. In REDSEC, just like BF6, weapons are not restricted to your class, but each class specializes in different weapons. This means that the best weapon to use depends on what class you're using.

Best Assault loadout in Battlefield REDSEC

The Assault class is perfect for opening up new paths on the battlefield. With the Assault class, you can reach areas that will otherwise remain inaccessible, setting up new strategic benefits for yourself and your squad. Your gadgets also work well with most weapons inside the game, which acts as a bonus.

Category Choice
Primary Weapon KORD 6P67
Secondary Weapon M45A1
Gadget 1 M87A1
Gadget 2 High Explosive Launcher
Throwable Frag Grenade

Best Engineer loadout in Battlefield REDSEC

With REDSEC getting a tank, it becomes pretty important for the Engineer to take all kinds of enemy vehicles down. The Engineer has gadgets and abilities that do bonus damage to vehicles, including tanks. If you're uncomfortable with default weapon choices, just switch to an LMG.

Category Choice
Primary Weapon SCW-10
Secondary Weapon M45A1
Gadget 1 MAS 148 or RPG-7V2
Gadget 2 AV Mine
Throwable Frag Grenade

Best Support loadout in Battlefield REDSEC

The Support is a powerful class, as you can provide your team with more ammo and armor. You will often become the difference between your squad running out of supplies and having enough bullets to shred the enemies. Your proficiency with the LMGs means that it's your job to lay down suppression fire.

Category Choice
Primary Weapon SCW-10
Secondary Weapon P18
Gadget 1 Defibrilator
Gadget 2 Grenade Intercept System
Throwable Smoke Grenade

Best Recon loadout in Battlefield REDSEC

The Recon's primary role is to hit from a distance with the help of sniper rifles. Your gadgets are also focused on creating a veil so that you can stay hidden for a longer period of time. In REDSEC, your primary task is to scout the enemies from a distance and mark them for your team.

Category Choice
Primary weapon M2010 ESR
Secondary weapon M45A1
Gadget 1 C4 Explosives
Gadget 2 AP Mine
Throwable Frag Grenade or Proximity Detector

Human Kingdom in SFK showing a Port built towards east.

Super Fantasy Kingdom has been brewing a storm pretty silently by notching up a steady player count over the course of last week, but one set of gamers has been left behind.

The early access title from Super Fantasy Games is available on PC and on Xbox consoles. You can also play the game for free if you are a member of the Xbox Game Pass. If you're on PlayStation, however, you won't find this roguelike.

Will Super Fantasy Kingdom release on PlayStation?

As of writing, it's hard to say for sure if Super Fantasy Kingdom will come to PlayStation. It's not uncommon for indie releases to launch first on PC. Incidentally, Super Fantasy Kingdom is available on console, but only for Xbox.

I am unsure as to why the developers, Super Massive Games, have followed this pattern. However, the only way to play this game right now is to either own the game on Xbox or on your PC. Alternatively, you can also try out all the content if you have an active Xbox Game Pass membership.

Super Fantasy Kingdom PlayStation release date (expected)

If Super Fantasy Kingdom makes its way over to PlayStation, it should likely happen at the end of the early access period. According to the developers, the game should remain in early access for around a year. Hence, it's pretty unlikely that we will have Super Fantasy Kingdom on PlayStation consoles before November 2026.

There have been question marks on the potential PlayStation ports of other indie hits like RV There Yet. Unlike RV There Yet, Super Fantasy Kingdom already has an operational console port, which makes it more likely for us to get a PlayStation version in the future.

Jester in one of the voyage islands in Super Fantasy Kingdom

I can't help but say "I'm sorry" to the Super Fantasy Kingdom for ruining the fun. The "Be Funny" achievement that lets you unlock the Jester is a long-running joke among players, and you won't find the exact answer in wikis or Discord communities.

The way to "Be Funny" and get the Jester in Super Fantasy Kingdom is by building four Wells and waiting for the day to end. While some players reportedly did this achievement with three Wells, I could only make it work with the fourth one. That means you'll need 16 Stones to complete this achievement.

The best way to do this is to start a run specifically to complete this quest. If you already have the Witch and the other starter bonuses, arrange them in a way that you start with as many Stones as you can. Grab extra ones from the Outpost bonuses, and focus on leaving all your workers at the Quarry so they can mine as quickly as possible. If you only have four small plots of land in your Kingdom, you can't build Houses, or you won't have room for every Well you need. Once you get 16 Stones, build all four Wells and wait for the day to end to unlock the Achievement. Finally, complete or give up your current run—don't worry, the achievement will count.

How to unlock the Jester

With the "Be Funny" achievement completed, you need to find the Jester in the Human Kingdom. The character is on an island to the northeast on the map, which you can only discover during a Voyage.

The Jester with a question mark on its head in Super Fantasy Kingdom
The Jester is a red character. Screenshot by Destructoid

To Voyage and discover Jester's island, you need to build a Port in your Kingdom and upgrade it with 20 Coins. Then, the Voyage boat will move automatically every day. It should take 10 to 15 days to reach Jester's island, so make sure you're running a good setup to survive that long.

You'll also need 10 Shards to build a road on the island and see the Jester.

If you can't build a port yet, keep playing and earning more Glory to unlock the plot of land on the east coast of your Kingdom. Without that, you can't go on a Voyage and can't unlock the Jester, even if you already have the achievement.

Once you get to Jester's island, simply click the character to unlock it. It will now be a unit that may pop up during your runs for you to recruit.

Battlefield REDSEC

Battlefield REDSEC, Battlefield 6's foray into the world of Battle Royale, is out, but it offers way more than a simple BR mode. REDSEC contains a small but rich amount of game modes that players should totally try out to get the best out of the newest take on the popular gameplay genre.

REDSEC Battle Royale

The Battle Royale mode is, naturally, the closest to Fortnite, Warzone, or PUBG, but it comes with a few tweaks of its own.

A game of REDSEC Battle Royale is composed of 100 players, divided into 25 teams of four players or 50 two-player teams. Either way, the final squad standing will take home the prize.

The major change separating REDSEC from other BR titles is the playable area. In other BR titles, staying out of the playable area would cause damage over time. This was meant as a hindrance, but the best players would find ways to sacrifice HP to gain better positioning. REDSEC has a dramatically different approach, one where leaving the play area will immediately get them killed.

Originally, Battle Royale matches were a one-and-done thing until Apex Legends introduced respawn mechanics that would give downed teammates a chance to come back. In REDSEC, the only hope for players to come back after getting knocked down is to get revived by their teammates before the entire team goes down.

Like most other BR titles, REDSEC also features vehicles, but here they don't exist primarily as a way for players to move across the map. Some vehicles feature pretty lethal options, such as tanks that can easily obliterate enemies and most of the game's structures.

REDSEC Gauntlet Mode

REDSEC's Gauntlet Mode narrows the gap between the BR genre and the very popular Squid Game. Instead of having teams directly killing each other off, it features 32 players divided into eight teams of four players who'll battle through a series of rounds. These rounds feature eight different mission types, and the teams that don't clear the objectives will be eliminated. The mission objectives are standard Battlefield fare like "capture X zone", but they're randomized, so players will really have to put their teamwork abilities to the test to succeed.

REDSEC Portal Mode

REDSEC's Portal Mode is where you go once you start to get tired of the base game. Portal is less of a game mode and more of a sandbox where players create their own games for their friends to enjoy and their foes to perish in.

On top of a wide array of customization options for the games they'll create, some that'll allow players to create something that looks nothing like a regular Battlefield match, Portal also grants players access to the rest of the community's lobbies. Should Portal take off, it could turn into something akin to a modern version of Garry's Mod, and that would be just phenomenal.

Battlefield Redsec fire

Battlefield's new battle royale REDSEC is here, and it contains all of the progression and unlocks from Battlefield 6.

XP leveling in Battlefield is a slow grind. Hopefully, it's something that can be improved upon with updates if players complain enough, but for now, if you're playing REDSEC as a free-to-play player, your options are very limited.

Weapons are gated behind level progression, and specific weapon attachments are gated behind weapon progression. The best way to rank up is to get kills and win games, but that's not the most time-efficient method.

So far, here's what we've found is the fastest way to level up and rank up guns in Battlefield REDSEC.

Fastest way to rank up guns in Battlefield REDSEC

Battlefield REDSEC soldier
Image via EA

Unfortunately, the best way to grind XP in Battlefield REDSEC is with Battlefield 6 multiplayer. Battle royale progression is very slow, even slower than normal BF6 (which players have been complaining about since launch), and not a reliable method of leveling.

Gauntlet mode is the best free-to-play mode to level up in REDSEC as of now. This mode offers a variety of different objectives to play for in a battle royale-like last-team-standing round after round, and the matches are decently fast. The rounds are played on smaller sections of the BR map, so you're more likely to find other layers to rack up XP more quickly.

You can also try to find specific game modes in Battlefield Portal in REDSEC, where people can customize their own settings to hopefully make games go a bit quicker or force skirmishes for more gunfights. Otherwise, you are stuck with playing normal BR and seeking out kills there, which can be very inconsistent.

The only way to rank up guns in REDSEC is by using those guns, getting kills with them, and completing missions and contracts around the map. This is not ideal in a battle royale setting where there are 100 players, but the map is massive and engagements can be few and far between. You also have to rank up each individual Class (Assault, Engineer, Support, Recon) to get their best perks and weapons.

On day one, free-to-play progression feels quite slow in REDSEC, so hopes are that EA will improve the experience to even the playing field for those who do not own BF6.

A tank in Battlefield 6

Battlefield REDSEC introduces battle royale content for fans to enjoy. While you can mix and match between the guns you find on the ground, you can also bring over your favorite builds in the form of custom loadouts.

Custom loadouts are pre-built kits that you previously made in Battlefield 6. This can be made with any class and weapon combination that you feel can do well on the meta. In REDSEC, using custom loadouts is entirely possible, and this guide will help you out with the method.

How to get custom loadouts in Battlefield REDSEC

For starters, you'll need to have at least one custom loadout saved before you can carry it over to REDSEC. No, you don't jump into the battlefield with your personalized loadouts. Instead, you can activate them in one of two known ways.

Battlefield REDSEC soldier
Image via EA

  • Missions are specialized tasks that can be completed for different rewards. This can land you with some great rewards like tank keys, but some of them can also reward you with a custom loadout. You can find the missions from your map view. This is the best way to get a custom loadout in the game.
  • A riskier approach is to wait for custom drops global events. These events are random, but get triggered multiple times. You'll be notified when a drop takes place. Once shown on your map, you'll have to reach the position quickly before other enemies swamp the place. Unlike mission rewards, you'll have to defeat your opponents to get your hands on the custom loadout.

If you have been playing Battlefield 6, all your unlocks from the game can be used to create your custom layouts. This can then be borrowed over to REDSEC, pending you manage to complete one/both of the steps that I have mentioned above. If you're confused about the best loadouts to get, it's certainly worth checking out our weapons tier list to start your REDSEC journey.

Amazon games logo.

In a mass culling of jobs, Amazon is set to reduce staff by around 14,000 in the very near future, and its gaming departments have not been spared, with the company stating that it has "made the difficult decision to halt a significant amount of [its] first-party AAA game development work."

This comes days after the company launched its Luna gaming service, which offers members free PC games each month. Steve Boom—vice president of Audio, Twitch, and Games—added that the company will be "making significant role reductions in our studios in Irvine and San Diego, as well as [its] central publishing team."

This could very well mean the upcoming Lord of the Rings MMO, currently in development, may never grace our screens. This is also after the relatively successful launches of New World Aeternum and Throne and Liberty, both of which now hold only a fraction of their peak player base on Steam.

It's unclear at this point what this might mean for the future of these established games and how they'll be impacted by the layoffs, but we can more than likely expect far less future content. It's also unclear what will become of the Tomb Raider game in development at Amazon.

What is clear is how in a public blog on the company's website, it posted an update on these events. And yes, you guessed it, AI was mentioned. How big a role AI will play in Amazon's future game development is unclear, but it definitely has a place at Amazon, judging from the blog post.

Battlefield 6 aiming RPG at a helicopter

Excited gamers looking to play Battlefield 6 test this week were met with a confusing error, and it's one that prevents any fun to be had.

"SecureBoot is not enabled," the error code reads, and refuses to let you launch Battlefield 6 or Battlefield REDSEC whatsoever. This is obviously a problem, but it's something that's unfortunately an intended feature as part of the game's security.

Here's everything there is to know about Battlefield 6 Secure Boot, including how to enable it so you can play the game or its battle royale mode, Battlefield REDSEC.

What is Battlefield 6 Secure Boot?

Several men standing and watching at an explosion in the distance in Battlefield 6.
Image via EA

Secure Boot is a security feature in Windows 10 and Windows 11 that makes sure your PC only loads "safe software" during setup, and it's become an integral feature of anti-cheat for EA games like Battlefield 6.

"Secure Boot allows games supported by EA Javelin anti-cheat to detect and remove bad actors, resulting in fewer cheaters and a better experience for players," EA said.

Cheaters have become a serious problem in online games, using cheats like wallhacks or aimbots to ruin the experience for others. Some hacks are even more nefarious, allowing players to take over your PC remotely.

Because of this, Secure Boot is a requirement to play Battlefield REDSEC on PC, so if it's disabled on your rig, you won't be able to launch the game at all. Enabling Secure Boot requires opening your system's BIOS menu and turning it on.

How to enable Secure Boot for Battlefield REDSEC

SecureBoot EA anticheat
Screenshot by Destructoid

Here's how to enable Secure Boot on your PC, with directions directly from EA.

  1. Select the Windows Key and search for "Change Advanced Startup Options."
  2. Next to "Advanced Startup" select "Restart Now." Your computer will restart into Advanced Startup.
  3. Select "Advanced Options."
  4. Select UEFI Firmware Settings.

    • This will enter your PC's BIOS.

  5. Navigate to the "Boot" tab.

    • If you are having difficulty finding the correct option, many BIOS have a search function that you can use to find the correct tab and setting pictured above. The search can be accessed by hitting F9.

  6. "Secure Boot state" should be Enabled.

    • If it's set to Disabled, change it to Enabled.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHFSelMXXX8

The video above also highlights how to do this properly. If you want to avoid this situation entirely, playing the game on console will be the way to go. But for many PC games now and in the future, these kernel-level anti-cheat systems will require more usage of your system than you may like or want to deal with, including Riot Games' Vanguard anti-cheat or Call of Duty's RICOCHET anti-cheat.

Good luck getting your Secure Boot up and running on PC, FPS gamers, otherwise, BF6 may have to be tabled until you can, or you might need to boot up a PS5 or Xbox.

A battle scene in Battlefield 6 Open Beta

Battlefield's new free-to-play battle royale mode REDSEC has taken over the gaming lexicon today, and FPS fans everywhere are quickly finding out that it is true to the franchise.

It just wouldn't be a Battlefield game without vehicles, and REDSEC has plenty of them. One vehicle that can be acquired through in-game tasks, however, is a literal tank. And when it comes to facing off in the final circle of the match, you'd best come prepared with the equipment to deal with it.

Battlefield REDSEC key art
Image via EA

Former Call of Duty pro and streamer Scump and his squad found out the hard way that tanks are acquirable in REDSEC as they came face-to-face with multiple armored vehicles in the final moments of a match today. They were a tad underprepared, though, and it did not go well for them.

Tanks in REDSEC (or Battlefield 6) can be countered, but only if you have the right equipment to take them down. The Engineer class, for example, has a perk that will allow you to deal 50 percent more damage to vehicles, making tanks a breeze to deal with if you have a rocket.

When you spawn into a match of REDSEC, you have a pistol and some passive perks, but not much else. The rest is up to you to find, and as Scump and co. found out, you may want to have at least one squad member running Engineer or, at the very least, carrying a rocket in case you come across a tank or two in the match's waning moments.

This sort of thing puts me off what REDSEC is offering, but Battlefield players in the replies have been very quick to point out all of the ways that tanks can be countered. Still, though, a freakin' tank in a small circle surrounded by fire? And if you don't have the means to deal with it, you're just screwed? Bummer.

https://twitter.com/scump/status/1983207646657163419

The REDSEC clips and highlights will be coming fast and hard over the next few days as gamers hop into the Battlefield BR experience, so this likely won't be the last moment like this popping up on social media.

Battlefield 6 Ice Lock Empire State

Battlefield REDSEC is now live on PC and console, and picking the correct class is going to be essential to give you the best shot at victory.

Unlike other Battle Royales, REDSEC forces you to pick one of the four available classes. These classes are also available in the best multiplayer, in case you're unfamiliar with the system. Every class has certain strengths and weaknesses, and this guide will help you make the best choice.

Which is the best class for Battlefield 6 REDSEC

Before we dive in, all four classes are effective as long as you know what to do. As stated, they all have their respective strengths and weaknesses. One efficient strategy is to have all four types in a premade party.

Frontliner class in Battlefield 6
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • The Support class is a must-have in any squad for a few simple reasons. Having Support allows you to get a steady supply of armor and ammo, which are vital to survive the long rounds. The Support class is also efficient in heals and revivals, which becomes crucial in the late game (as you can't respawn as much as you want). Supports are also efficient at using LMGs, which are great at laying down suppressing fire on enemies. While not as good as Engineers, Supports can also use the big guns to take down the vehicles that you might come across on the map.
  • Assault is a jack of all trades and a good choice for beginners. You can hardly go wrong with the perks provided by them, and the class is also efficient at using many kinds of weapons (so you don't have to rely on a specific archetype). Having breach options can also open up new areas on the map that would otherwise remain unavailable. Assault has been my favorite class to use in the multiplayer modes, and it could be my go-to choice in battle royale as well.

Ultimately, the effectiveness of any class in Battlefield REDSEC will be heavily reliant on what weapons you're using. Using a set of guns and loadouts that perform well in the current meta is going to be highly beneficial.

If you're new to Battlefield REDSEC having not played Battlefield 6 like me, the game's controller settings can be daunting.

There are a lot of different settings to tweak to make the game feel as smooth as possible on a controller, which is not easy. It definitely feels like Battlefield is made with mouse and keyboard in mind, so controller play can feel clunky by comparison. But with some tweaks, you can find the right level of comfort to chase down battle royale wins.

Here's a good starting point for your controller settings to choose in Battlefield REDSEC.

Battlefield REDSEC - Best controller settings for Infantry

Battlefield REDSEC infantry gameplay

Aim

  • Infantry Aim Sensitivity: 45
  • Invert Vertical Look: Off
  • Field of View: 110
  • Vertical Aim Ratio: 50
  • Vertical Zoom Ratio: 80
  • Uniform Infantry Aiming: On
  • Zoom Sensitivity Coefficient: 178
  • Infantry Aim Assist: 100
  • Infantry Aim Assist Slowdown: 100
  • Infantry Aim Assist Zoom Snap: 100
  • Soldier Aim Input Curve: BF4
  • Infantry Zoom Aim Input Curve: Standard
  • Stick Input Acceleration Presets: BF4, BF3, BFBC
  • Aiming Left/Right Acceleration: 30

Feel free to mess around with these settings as much as you can to tweak them to your liking, because aim sensitivity comes down to personal preference. I like mine somewhere in the middle, so I can try to snap and spin around quickly.

Movement

  • Infantry Sprint: Toggle
  • Double Tap Forward Sprint: Off
  • Sprint: L3
  • Crouch Toggle Sprint: Stand
  • Vault Over Sprint: On
  • Slide: Default
  • Crouch Slide: All
  • Double Tap Crouch For Sprint Slide: On

Zoom

  • Infantry Weapon Zoom: Hold
  • Zoom: L2
  • Steady Scope: Hold
  • Steady Scope: Click Left Joystick
  • Infantry Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 95
  • 1.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 95
  • 1.25x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 95
  • 1.50x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 95
  • 1.75x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 95
  • 2.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 95
  • 2.50x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 95
  • 3.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 90
  • 3.50x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 90
  • 4.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 90
  • 4.50x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 90
  • 5.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 100
  • 6.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 100
  • 8.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 100
  • 10.00x Zoom Aim Sensitivity: 100

Other

  • Parachute Autodeploy: Skydive/Insertions
  • Interact & Reload: Prioritize Interact
  • Interacts: Toggle
  • Skip Revive: Hold
  • Request Revive: Hold
  • Invert Demolition Charge: Off
  • Mount Breakout: Instant
  • Mount Type: Side and Up
  • Mount Presets: Combo
  • Peek Type: Side and Up

Interact and Reload will be a familiar setting to anyone who has played Warzone before. If you're like me and came from Warzone, use whichever setting you had there. I like to Prioritize Interact to make it easier to pick up loot while running instead of reloading accidentally.

The scene of a battle in Battlefield 6

Boy, oh boy, this battlefield sure looks like a warzone.

Battlefield's re-entry into the battle royale genre has officially been confirmed. Battlefield: REDSEC is its name, and it's Battlefield 6's version of the mode that first began with Firestorm in Battlefield V several years ago. This one has been in testing for months, and it's ready to go as a free-to-play title on PC and console for the gaming masses.

Here's what we know so far about Battlefield: RedSec and when you can download it.

Ahead of season one's launch, EA confirmed that Battlefield: REDSEC would be available at 10am CT on Oct. 28 right alongside the new season of BF6. The company did not detail whether or not the mode would be available for pre-load, or if it will be a separate standalone download apart from BF6.

Battlefield: REDSEC will likely become available to search on the Steam store, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and EA Play app right around 10am CT on Oct. 28. The countdown below shows how long it is until that time:

For now, it seems as though all there is to do is wait until 10am CT on Oct. 28 for REDSEC to become available for download if you do not own Battlefield 6 and are looking to try the game out as a free-to-play player.

If you own Battlefield 6, REDSEC is available as part of the season one download. Once you've updated your game, REDSEC will be a part of the game itself. If you're a free-to-play player who does not own BF6, then the download will become available at some point later in the day on Oct. 28.

If you already own BF6, from within the BF6 menus:

  • Select Settings.
  • Select System.
  • Select Install/Uninstall.

    • Make sure that REDSEC is downloaded and installed as part of the update.

When it's available, you can download REDSEC from its pages on all of the digital storefronts:

Here's the info that has been officially revealed about Battlefield REDSEC, straight from EA:

  • "The deadliest ring" in BR: The outer circle that closes on the map in Battlefield REDSEC will kill players instantly, forcing engagements as it closes and preventing anyone from healing or moving outside of the playable area.
  • Second chances: Between the Support class revives and Mobile Redeploy options, there are multiple tools to keep your squad in the fight.
  • Map: Battlefield is no stranger to epic maps, and this all-new map has been built for the Battle Royale experience. It features a diverse array of tactical Points of Interest, each with distinct layouts and themes that offer unique gameplay opportunities.
  • Vehicles: Players can find common transport vehicles around the map and even unlock powerful armored vehicles to turn the tide of battle. The intent is to offer more ways for players to traverse the map early on in a match and to create interesting combined arms action in the process.
  • Tactical Destruction: Destruction will be everywhere in this mode. From creating pathways through walls to toppling buildings, we look forward to seeing players' ingenuity with destruction and how they use it to defeat their opponents.

Battlefield 6 Key Art 4K (1)

Game launches on Fridays are a beautiful thing. I remember growing up they were basically all on Tuesdays, which was not conducive to being productive throughout the week.

But with a hyped game like Battlefield 6, many players are taking sick days or paid time off to play it on its launch day and extend the fun into their weekend to have several consecutive days of grinding out wins and frags with their squads.

But with a worldwide launch comes even more players who want to play right when the game goes live. Because of this, EA has implemented a server queue for Battlefield REDSEC. Here's what that means for you.

Battlefield 6 'game servers full' explained

On the day of BF6's launch, many players were placed into a queue to log in to the game in a list of well over 400,000 players for some gamers. EA and Battlefield Studios explained that this was put in place as a safeguard and is due to large demand to play the game as soon as it's available.

"Battlefield 6 launches today at 15:00UTC and we anticipate many of you to login at the same time during this initial moment," BF Labs explained ahead of launch. "To help ensure a smooth and stable login experience for everyone, we're adding a queue system during this and other peak moments. Thanks for your patience as we launch Battlefield 6."

Basically, this means you have to wait in line to get on the servers to play the game, whether you're on console or PC. This can obviously be a bit of a bummer, but the hope is that once you make it through the queue, you can play BF6 with no further issues.

Battlefield REDSEC server queue

Even after the full game's launch day, it's possible that server queues could pop up as a bottleneck to prevent the servers from crashing if there are too many players online, like "other peak moments" as described. It may also happen after updates when servers need downtime and come back online once deployed, or like when Battlefield REDSEC launches on Oct. 28. It doesn't get more "peak moment" than that.

Just sit tight, grab an energy drink or a snack, and get ready for your queue to let you in the game as you impatiently watch that massive number slowly dwindle to zero.

The title screen art of Super Fantasy Kingdom

I always feel stupid whenever I try to play city builders. There are just so many resources to think about and care for. Whenever I solve a problem, like gathering enough materials, workers, or food, something else happens.

That was how I felt playing Frostpunk, for example. While I was solving one issue, another one would just pop up, making things more complicated.

When you're not familiar with city builders, they can be really brutal. A single attempt in Frostpunk can go on for many hours, and you may suddenly lose because it's nearly impossible to take care of all your population's needs at once. The learning curve is steep, and you have to play a lot to understand the pace of the game and develop your strategy for future runs.

That's where Super Fantasy Kingdom sets itself apart. This city builder has roguelike elements and shot to the top of Steam's trending charts after its release this week. What it excels at is using roguelike unlocks and short runs to take away the most frustrating part of city builders: losing all your progression. That's what always makes me give up on long games with heavy resource management, including strategy ones like Civilization.

When I play Super Fantasy Kingdom, I don't mind losing. Every try is considerably short, from 30 minutes to one hour. When I was learning and playing my first few runs, losing was not as punishing or frustrating because I earned rewards that would take me further in my next attempt. Rewards for failing don't exist in traditional city builders.

This is especially important for busy adult gamers. Sometimes you don't have five straight hours to put into a game where you need to remember exactly what you were doing. If I play a long scenario in Frostpunk and have to stop halfway through, I don't remember what I was doing when I come back. But in Super Fantasy Kingdom, I know the run will fit into the time I have to game.

I finally don't need a guide to learn how to win in a city builder

Because of the roguelike loop of Super Fantasy Kingdom, it's much easier to understand how to win. Each time you lose, you can see it as "not a win condition". It's a path to avoid in a future run, which takes you closer to figuring out the win condition.

Instead of giving me an overwhelming number of strategic options to win, like in traditional city builders, Super Fantasy Kingdom started by showing me one or two basic strategies: get as many workers as possible to gather resources and deploy units to protect the Kingdom. But then I realized I also needed resources to upgrade characters and refine some of them to unlock new buildings. I slowly understood how the game mechanics worked and how they could lead me to victory. The learning curve is much faster because it has clear feedback and progression tied to it.

I'm a huge fan of Hades, Risk of Rain, and Slay the Spire, so I know this is all obvious for a roguelike. However, I believe this kind of progression fits the city builder genre perfectly. You don't need to read lengthy guides or watch YouTube videos because the game teaches you how to win by showing you why you lost.

That's why Super Fantasy Kingdom is such an amazing game and why it's sparking my curiosity to play more city builders. Roguelikes are one of gaming's best genres for people like me, who want to learn underlying mechanics, strategies, and understand a game's complexity. They teach me how the game works, and learning how to win all by myself is one of the most rewarding feelings in gaming.

Premier League ball in Football Manager 26

Football Manager 26 is going to receive plenty of updates as part of the Advanced Access beta that's currently available to users on Steam, but you'll need to access the Public Beta to enjoy them.

The current state of the game is pretty rough to say the least. Sports Interactive has at least three updates planned (starting Oct. 28). However, you'll have to switch to the Public Beta to enjoy the tweaks.

This guide will help you get access to the Football Manager 26 Public Beta on Steam.

How to access Football Manager 26 Public Beta

As of writing, the Public Beta version has yet to be made available to the audience. However, knowing the steps will be immensely helpful if you're struggling to enjoy the game.

  • Open your Steam library.
  • Go to Football Manager 26 and open properties.
  • Scroll down to the beta tab on your left.
  • You'll see that there's no beta to participate.
  • You'll need the code to activate the Public Beta.
  • The code is yet to be shared by Sports Interactive and will be available once the first update is live.
  • Once you confirm, your version of Football Manager will change to the Public Beta.

After you input the code, your game will have the "private_beta – Invitation Only". The beta will be separate from the base version of the game, and will download on its own. It should also automatically download all future updates that Sports Interactive will push out before the full launch on Nov. 4.

Can you use your old save in the Football Manager 26 Public Beta

You can keep using your old save and continue with it on the Public Beta. Any change that doesn't require a new save should automatically reflect in the game. You can also choose to continue the save with the full version later in November.
